How to get from Faliraki to Rhodes. Rhodes Island, Faliraki (Greece): photos and reviews from tourists. What to do: entertainment and attractions

Faliraki, once a small fishing village, has now become a developed tourist center with a considerable number of hotels.

The “golden” and very crowded beach, which is 4 kilometers long, deserves special attention here. At its southern end there are fewer people, but the beach itself is worse here - there are rocky areas. But this particular area is officially recognized as the only place where nudists can sunbathe.

Ladiko Beach

Ladiko beach is located in the bay of the same name. Its beauty is difficult to describe - you have to see it with your own eyes: bizarrely shaped rocks of a pinkish-smoky color, a bottomless sky above your head and a turquoise, absolutely transparent sea!

Ladiko is a fairly small beach, it is divided into two parts - a narrow strip of golden sand and a large number of small rocks in the middle of a closed bay. By the way, there is even a pier for small ships here.

Ladiko beach is ready to offer everything you need for a wonderful relaxing holiday - sun loungers, umbrellas, small restaurants where you will be treated to fresh grilled fish.

All products are 925 standard. From a wide assortment you can always choose a chic gift or souvenir: a necklace, bracelet, pendant or earrings, a belt or cufflinks.

Each work is unique. It is made by hand and invented by the co-owners of the workshop, designers Stergos and Dimitrios Mastoras.

At the shop-workshop, you can correct your purchase or repair it free of charge in case of trouble.

Tourists can walk through the inner sanctum of the workshop and see with their own eyes how metal is transformed into a work of jewelry art.

Not far from the agricultural village of Kalavarda, which produces oilseeds, citrus and grain crops, as well as livestock, there is a beautiful sandy beach.

In the evening, this beach is especially beautiful, because it boasts one of the most beautiful views of the sunset and mountains in Turkey.

It is worth noting that the water here is a little cooler than on the east coast, but it is simply crystal clear.

The beach has umbrellas and public showers, and there are also several restaurants that will pamper you with excellent fresh fish dishes.

Anthony Quinn Bay Beach

Anthony Quinn Beach is located in a small green bay. This is an incredibly beautiful sand and pebble beach with emerald green water.

Famous actor Anthony Quinn, who starred in this action-packed film, fell so in love with this magical place that he bought it during the filming of the film. This beach with its rocky shores is especially popular among young people. There are sun loungers and umbrellas, as well as opportunities for various water activities. Greek resort village Faliraki(Φαληράκι [faliraki]) is deservedly popular among tourists, especially young people. A wide strip of sandy beaches and proximity to the capital of the island became the determining factors in the development of the resort. The history of the emergence of this resort, a favorite among young people, is similar to the history of Crete - once it was just a small fishing village.

Faliraki became famous in the seventies of the twentieth century, when the place came to the attention of the tourism business. Europeans were the first to choose it. The construction of comfortable hotels and tourist infrastructure was launched on the territory of the village. Now Faliraki has everything you need for a comfortable stay - restaurants, cafes, bars, taverns, shops and nightclubs.

Resort village Faliraki

The main street of the resort village runs parallel to the beaches, along the seashore. However, the main, central street runs perpendicular to it and leads to the sea. In the very center of the resort, life does not stop for a minute even at night and resembles a noisy open-air youth club. Therefore, very often young vacationers prefer hotels in the center of the resort village in order to be at the epicenter of the events. There are also silent areas in Faliraki, where tourists who prefer silence can enjoy all the delights of a relaxing holiday by the sea - these are areas remote from the center.

On the right side of the center of Faliraki there is a port from which pleasure boats, yachts and ferries regularly depart. There is a sea connection with the capital of the island - the city of Rhodes. At the edge of the pier there is a small white temple consecrated in honor of the Twelve Apostles.

The choice of hotels in the resort village is varied: there is something for every taste and budget. There are also five-star spas, small family hotels and budget apartments. A huge number of super- and minimarkets, small shops and souvenir shops that do not stop working even late in the evening. Not far from the center there is a large AB hypermarket (άλφα βιτa [alpha vita]), where you can buy almost everything you need for a good rest.

Climate and weather in Faliraki

The resort of Faliraki owes its weather to the Mediterranean climate. Winter is relatively warm and humid, precipitation is quite frequent, the average temperature is +12 degrees. Summer is sunny, usually without precipitation. The air temperature during the day in July and August can reach forty degrees, but thanks to the evening breeze, every morning again delights vacationers with fresh sea air. The average temperature in summer is +26 degrees, and the sea usually warms up to +24 degrees Celsius. The tourist season begins in mid-May and ends in October.

Faliraki, attractions

Faliraki boasts its wonderful Waterpark with a large number of attractions and water slides. This is one of the largest water parks in Europe and the only one in Rhodes. Its area is 100,000 square meters, there are only 15 water slides and there is a wave pool. The infrastructure is very well developed: beach chairs and umbrellas, cafes, minimarkets, showers, toilets, storage rooms and even a beauty salon. Entertainment is designed for any age and category, including the youngest and most fastidious tourists. Admission is paid - for children 16 euros, for adults 24. Open from May to October from 9:30 to 19:00.

One of the main attractions of Faliraki is the temple, although not very old, but made in an unusual architectural style. The church building and the bell tower are connected by an arched gallery. Around the temple there is a well-groomed courtyard area, on which there is a spring and a lot of greenery. Saint Nektarios is one of the most revered saints in Greece. Residents believe that there is no disease that cannot be cured.

At the foot of the mountain is the Monastery of the Holy Prophet Amos, on the territory of which there is a very old temple with a large icon of the prophet. Local residents say that the icon is about two thousand years old. Entrance to the courtyard is free, and not only for people - the main feature is a whole flock of peacocks. They calmly walk wherever they want and, if you're lucky, they'll even allow themselves to be photographed after fanning out their stunning tail.

At the top of the same mountain there is another monastery dedicated to the prophet Elijah. There is no courtyard here - only an old temple stands, but behind it there are real catacombs, to which an underground passage leads. From the small room through the loophole there is an impressive view of the sea. Behind the catacombs there is an observation deck - on the right you can admire the bays of Anthony Quinn and Ladiko. On the other hand, the entire village of Faliraki is in full view.

The remaining attractions are located outside the resort village, and you can get to them on your own by bus or book excursions at travel agencies. A large number of interesting historical and architectural objects are located in the city of Rhodes, the capital of the island. The bus from Faliraki only takes about half an hour to get there, and the fare is 2.20 euros. All significant attractions in Rhodes, such as, are within walking distance from the bus terminus, which is undoubtedly very convenient.

If you wish, you can also see the second largest and most important (after Athens), in the ancient city. It is located about two hours by bus from the resort village of Faliraki, in the opposite direction from the road to the island's capital. A bus from Faliraki will cost 4.40 euros per person one way. Entrance to the acropolis is paid - 5 euros. It is advisable to take water with you, and in hot weather, hats are required. It is also worth seeing St. Paul's Bay, which is located nearby. It was here, according to legend, that the supreme apostle arrived to preach the Gospel. There is a beach not far from the Acropolis, which allows you to combine a visit to the attraction with a vacation by the sea.

The unique space cafe is located high up near Anthony Quinn Bay. This observatory, where you can observe the stars or the Moon through a telescope, is the only institution of its kind in Greece. Everything is decorated in space style, even desserts. Very interesting for school age children. Average bill: 2-4 euros. It's better to get there by car. Open in the evening: from 18 to 23 hours.

Mineral thermal springs are located on the southern outskirts of the resort village, just 10 minutes away by bus. These are the abandoned ancient Roman baths of the Baths of Kallithea, restored during the occupation of the island by the Italians. Near the rotunda with thermal springs there is a small, equipped sand and pebble beach in a narrow bay. The water in the bay is warm and the entrance is gentle, which is very suitable for families with children. The thermal baths are open from 8:00 to 20:00, entrance fee is 4 euros (children under 12 years old are free)

Faliraki, beaches

Beaches of Faliraki resort- this is the purest transparent sea water and golden sand for four kilometers. Waves are rare in Faliraki and even in windy weather the sea is usually calm. Entry into the water is convenient. In good, clear weather, you can see the Turkish coast - the resort of Marmaris, which is located directly opposite the island. All beaches are equipped with umbrellas, sun loungers, and some have been awarded the Blue Flag of the European Union. Closer to the center, the infrastructure is well developed: along the beaches there are numerous cafes, bars and taverns. For active tourists there is the opportunity to practice beach volleyball, diving, surfing and water skiing. The southern part of the beach is favored by nudists.

Not far from Faliraki there are also beaches that are very popular among tourists. Ladiko Beach located in a cozy beautiful bay. There are several small hotels nearby. The purest sand, crystal clear water and a not very gentle, but quite comfortable entrance to the water. The beach is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas. There is a bar nearby. The distance from Faliraki is about three kilometers. You can get to Ladiko beach by city bus for just 1 euro.

A little further from Ladiko there is the following beach -, which bears the name of a nearby village. It is a strip of yellow sand and white pebbles. The beach is not so popular, so it is perfect for lovers of peace and quiet.

Another beautiful bay with Anthony Quinn Beach is particularly popular with tourists. The Oscar-winning film Zorba the Greek (1964), starring Anthony Quinn, is believed to have been filmed here. The film, which received three Oscars, is also famous for the fact that the melody “Sirtaki”, which was written specifically for this film, was first performed in it. The actor was so shocked by the splendor of the bay that he often visited these places and even planned to buy it. Scenes for the films “The Guns of Navarone” and “Escape to Athena” were filmed here. Pleasure yachts and boats often enter the bay, further decorating its views. This is a wonderful place for diving and snorkeling. The beach here is pebbly, equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, showers and toilets. Entry into the water is not very convenient due to large stones.

“A quiet Greek is one who can only be heard on the next street.”

It was our 3rd trip, we thought for a very long time where to go and since my husband always dreamed of visiting Greece, we chose one of its wonderful islands - Rhodes.

Greece is an amazing country. It cannot be described in one or two words. Even a story is not enough for this. Therefore, going to write about our Greek holidays, I will divide our holiday into several stories dedicated to specific cities and places, namely: the town of Faliraki and its surroundings; the capital of the island of Rhodes, the city of the same name; the wonderful place of Kallithea Terme; extreme city of Lindos; picturesque Anthony Quinn Beach and Ladiko Bay; and also, I’ll tell you about one excursion, during which we traveled around half of the western coast of the island from Kamiros to Arnisa.

So, the island of Rhodes. It is often called the island of the sun and this is absolutely true, because the sun sets here late in the evening, and the streets are as bright as day until 9 pm. There is an amazing climate, fresh and unpolluted air, a gentle sea with wonderful and picturesque coves and colorful local Greeks.

In this story, I will share with you my impressions of the town of Faliraki.

Faliraki is a small village , or mini town (everyone is called differently), 30 minutes by bus from the capital of the island, the city of Rhodes. We chose this place because there is a large and good beach, in the evening there are many cafes and clubs to choose from, and most importantly, from here you can get to almost anywhere on the island on your own (because we don’t have a driver’s license and we are tied to a bus message). Looking ahead, I will say that we were very pleased with our choice.

So, Faliraki. The flight from Moscow to Rhodes took 3.5 hours . We arrived early in the morning and were very surprised when, upon leaving the plane, there was still no sun (and we arrived at 7 am). But only later we learn that in Rhodes the sun rises late and sets not early either. We were picked up at the airport by the meeting party and everyone was taken to hotels. About our hotel Orion Hotel 3* can be read in a separate review. In general, after staying on the island for 10 days, I still didn’t understand where exactly the village of Faliraki begins and where it ends. There is one main and very long street, on the left side of which there are hotels and the sea, and on the right side there are hotels and taverns. And at a certain point (in the Chaplin beach area) this main street diverges to the right and left into many small streets, which are replete with many different cafes, taverns, hookah bars, strip clubs, karaoke bars and hotels. Our hotel was a 5-minute walk from all this abundance, so we can say that we were practically in the center of this town.

Faliraki beach is wide and long , about 5 kilometers.

We will tell you what is remarkable about the Greek resort of Faliraki in Rhodes, and what attractions a tourist should see. Read before your trip.

If you try to determine the 10 most famous resorts in Greece, Faliraki, located in Rhodes, will take pride of place on this list. On the one hand, it is aimed at young people and beach lovers. On the other hand, there is a lot of entertainment for families with children and those who want to get acquainted with the historical heritage of the island. What is there to do in Faliraki? Here are five ideas for a popular Greek resort.

  • for the first time

Spend time on one of the best beaches in Rhodes

Every year, Faliraki Beach is consistently awarded the Blue Flag. It stretches for 5 km and is covered with pure golden sand. For vacationers on the coast, all necessary services are provided: there are sun loungers, bars, water entertainment centers, cafes, hotels, small shops, and parties are held in the evenings. Faliraki Beach is one of the busiest beaches in Rhodes, but even here you can find a calm corner. For example, Kaphara Bay, located in the bay of the same name. The most comfortable hotels in Faliraki are concentrated around it. The beach and bottom are sandy, but there are rock formations in the water that have become the highlight of this place. Kafara is equipped but not overcrowded. The sea here is shallow - you can safely choose a bay for relaxing with a child.

Get to Anthony Quinn Cove

This bay, 4 km from Faliraki, is a beach with history. She got her name in honor of the famous actor for a reason. In the 60s, Quinn starred in one of the films in Rhodes and fell in love with these places so much that he purchased a plot here along with the beach. It’s really hard to remain indifferent to the bay: emerald calm water, rocks around, greenery and a clean beach - all this sets you up for a relaxing holiday. During the high season, Anthony Quinn Bay is crowded and there is not enough space for everyone. Therefore, it is better to visit it at the beginning or during the velvet season. Another way to enjoy the views is to go to the terrace located above the beach. There is a tavern and an observation deck here.

What to do: entertainment and attractions

The village of Faliraki is the pearl of the island of Rhodes. Some of the best shopping centers in Greece, a huge water park, chic restaurants and bustling cafes are built here. Despite the fact that the resort is quite young, there are also historical attractions.

A week is not enough to see all the beautiful places in the city. Therefore, if your time is limited, first of all pay attention to the following attractions of Faliraki.

The only café-observatory in all of Greece is located on a mountain next to Anthony Queen Bay. Here you can not only learn a lot about space, look through a telescope at the Moon and stars or play with astronomical toys, but also enjoy the view of the beaches of Faliraki.

Entrance to the cafe and observatory is free, but every visitor must buy something - be it coffee or a full lunch. The establishment constantly plays music, serves refreshing cocktails and delicious crepes. The average price of a dessert with a drink is 2-4 euros. An interesting place for little travelers.

The exact address: profit ammos area, Apollonos. Opening hours: daily from 18 to 23.

Important! It is physically difficult to get to the astronomical cafe on foot; we advise you to go there by car.

The young church, built in 1976, amazes with its beauty. The entire complex consists of a temple and a bell tower made of terracotta-colored stone, inside there are spectacular frescoes and unusual paintings, in front of the temple there is a small area lined with pebble patterns.

The two-story Church of St. Nektarius is a smaller “sister” of the temple of the same name located in Rhodes. This is a functioning Orthodox cathedral with landscaped grounds, where church music is often played and services are held. As in all temples in Greece, here you can use scarves and skirts for free, light a candle for a voluntary donation, drink and wash with sacred water from the source before entering.

Usually the church has few travelers, but on weekends, especially Sundays, there are many parishioners with small children. The temple is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm (from 12 to 18 siesta), exact location– Faliraki 851 00.

Advice! If you want to take spectacular photos of the temple, come here in the evening, when the church staff turns on the multi-colored lights.

Aquapark

The largest in Greece and the only one in all of Rhodes the water park is located in the northern part of the city at Rhodes 851 00. Its total area reaches 100,000 m2, the entrance price is 24 euros for an adult, 16 € for children.

The water park has more than 15 slides for visitors of different ages, a wave pool and a water playground. In addition, there are all the amenities for a comfortable stay and various establishments: a cafe (burger - 3 €, French fries - 2.5 €, 0.4 liters of beer - 3 €), supermarket, free toilets and showers, sun loungers, luggage storage (6€ deposit, 4€ returned along with things), beauty salon, souvenir shop. This is a great place for an active holiday with the whole family.

Schedule: from 9:30 to 18 (in summer until 19). Opens in early May, closes with the end of the beach season in Greece - in October. The best time to visit is in the summer, since strong winds blow across the high hills in autumn or spring.

Pay attention to the weather before going to Faliraki Water Park. The administration of the establishment will not refund the entrance fee, even if it starts to rain and you are forced to leave early.

Mineral thermal springs are located on the outskirts of the village, a couple of kilometers south of Rhodes. Here you can swim in the healing warm waters at any time of the year, take beautiful photos of Faliraki against the backdrop of artificial waterfalls, and admire the natural landscapes.

Kallithea Springs is a small sand and pebble beach with sun loungers, a bar and other amenities. The water here is always calm and warm, and the slope is gentle, so during the season you can meet many families with children. In addition to the springs, Kallithea Springs is known for its regular exhibitions, which are held in the large rotunda.

Entry fee to the bath from 8 am to 8 pm - 3 € per person, children under 12 years old free.

Important! Be sure to bring masks as this is one of the best snorkeling spots in all of Rhodes.

Beaches

The best seaside resort in Greece offers vacationers 8 beaches with different surfaces. Find out in this section what the sea is like in Faliraki, where the nudist areas are and where to go with children.

The four-kilometer beach covered with golden sand is located one kilometer from the Faliraki water park. The bottom is visible through the crystal clear water, and the condition of the coastal zone is carefully monitored by the city administration. The water here is easy to enter, shallow, there are no rocks and the sea is very calm - this place is suitable for families with children.

The main beach of Faliraki has all the necessary amenities: sun loungers and umbrellas (9.5 euros per couple, free until 11 am), showers and toilets, a cafe and bar (coffee - 2 €, meat dish - 12 €, salad - 6 € , glass of wine – 5-6 €). In addition, tourists are offered a large selection of entertainment, including:

  • “Banana” – 10 minutes 10 euros;
  • Water skiing – 25€ per lap;
  • Parasailing – 40€ per person;
  • Renting a motor boat – 55 €/hour, catamaran – 15 €/ hour, jet ski – 35 €/15 minutes;
  • Windsurfing - 18€.

An interesting feature of the beach is the presence of a nudist area. There are also umbrellas and sunbeds (5€), bananas and a rental area, showers and toilets. This part is hidden from the view of others in a small bay; you won’t be able to get there by accident, or see something you don’t want.

Minuses:

  1. Lack of trash cans.
  2. High attendance during the season.

7 km south of Faliraki is the large and wide Traounou Beach. There are far fewer tourists here, a clear sea and a clean coast covered with large pebbles. Entering the water is comfortable and gradual, but already 4 meters from the shore the depth exceeds 2 m, so you need to carefully monitor the children. Away from the coast there are a lot of fish and beautiful algae, don't forget to take masks. This beach in Faliraki (Rhodes) offers great photo opportunities.

Traounou Beach

Renting sunbeds and umbrellas on Traunu costs 5 euros per day, but you can do without them, sitting on your own mat. On the beach there is a tavern with low prices, Wi-Fi, showers, changing rooms and toilets are available. On weekends, local residents of Rhodes go to the beach; many tourists do not come even in high season.

Disadvantages include the lack of trees and natural shade; a small number of toilets (only next to the cafe); lack of active entertainment and shopping.

Anthony Quinn

This beach became one of the most popular in all of Greece after the filming of the film “Zorba the Greek” starring Anthony Quinn. Covered with small pebbles mixed with sand, it is hidden in a small bay, surrounded by many tall plants, 4 km south of the village.

This place is unique in terms of fauna - lovers of diving (dive 70 € / person) and snorkeling (rental 15 €) come here from all over Greece. In summer, you can only find a free sun lounger on Anthony Queen Beach in the early morning, but you won’t be able to relax on your own blanket here, since the coast is very small and there is practically no space free from amenities.

On the territory of this Faliraki beach (Rhodes) there are several toilets and showers, and changing rooms. The water here is calm all year round, since this is not the Mediterranean Sea itself, but its emerald bay. From the shore there is an amazing view of the surrounding rocks covered with green plants.

Minuses:

  • Lack of infrastructure and entertainment;
  • Small area and large influx of tourists.

Mandomata

This is the largest nudist beach in the village of Faliraki and the island of Rhodes as a whole. You can walk to it from the outskirts of the city in just half an hour, but it is not visible to prying eyes, so it is quite difficult to find it. Here you can enjoy the beauty of untouched nature, plunge into the warm and clean sea, relax in the shade of trees to the sound of water.

Unlike other nudist beaches in Greece, here you can rent a sunbed and umbrella, use a shower and even relax in a tavern located right on the coast. Please note that entering the water here is not very convenient, as it is filled with rock fragments - be sure to take swimming slippers. In general, the shore is strewn with small stones covered with sand.

Flaws:

  • No entertainment or shopping;
  • Difficult to get to.

Important! This nudist beach in Rhodes belongs to the “mix” category, that is, both women and men relax here.

The beach is hidden in a picturesque rocky bay 7 km from the city. This place is not suitable for those who like sandy descents into the water, since here tourists will have to sunbathe on large and small stones. Entering the sea is not very convenient; in some places there are metal ladders; it is better to take special shoes with you.

Despite the fact that the beach is completely rocky, it also has all the necessary amenities: sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, toilets and changing rooms. The infrastructure is not very well developed, but Thassos still has a good beach cafe that serves Greek national cuisine and delicious seafood. You can use free Wi-Fi throughout the entire beach. Great place for snorkeling.

Flaws: inconvenient entry into the water, poor infrastructure.

The popular beach of Rhodes in Greece is located three kilometers from Faliraki, next to the Anthony Queen coast, in a small picturesque bay. There are fewer tourists here, since the entry into the water is quite sharp and the greater depth begins after 3 meters, which is not suitable for families with children. The sea is clean and calm, deep, you can snorkel from huge boulders located right in the water. The most popular entertainment options are snorkeling and diving.

Ladiko is actually divided into two parts - sandy and rocky, so here you can take unusual photos with the sea in Faliraki in the background. On its territory there is a basic set of amenities: sun loungers and umbrellas (10 euros per couple), toilets and showers, a tavern is built nearby (cocktails for 7-10 euros, smoothies and juices - about 5 €). There is not much space on the beach, so if you want to relax on your blanket, come to the coast by 9 am.

Carefully! You should not swim on this beach without special slippers, as you can get hurt on the rocks at the bottom.

Minuses:

  • You can't relax without a sun lounger;
  • It is inconvenient to enter the sea;
  • Many people.

4 km from Falikari there is a wide, uncrowded pebble beach. It captivates with its unusual beauty: high cliffs, amazing caves, emerald-colored bay. The water here is very clean, the depth begins almost immediately, the entry into the water is gradual, but the bottom is rocky. Most of the area is empty.

Tragana has all the basic amenities: sun loungers and umbrellas for 10 euros per day, fresh water showers, changing cabins and toilets. Due to the fact that the beach coast stretches for several kilometers, you can sit on your blankets in any corner of the coast.

Flaws: The northern zone of Traganu is entirely allocated for military recreation and is closed to ordinary tourists. Signs with the appropriate inscription will notify you that you have entered prohibited territory.

Interesting fact! They say that Tragana, compared to other beaches in Greece and Rhodes, has cold water, since there are springs in the local caves. In fact, this temperature difference is no more than 2°C.

The small pebble beach is located just 2.5 km from the outskirts of the city. Its length is about 4 km, so even in high season, every traveler can find a secluded place to relax.

Katalos is not the best beach in Rhodes for families with children. Here, of course, there is a very calm sea, a clean coast and untouched nature, but already 6 meters from the shore the water reaches 3-4 meters in depth.

The beach has all the necessary amenities and several places for entertainment. A sun lounger and umbrella can be rented for €12 per day, changing cabins, toilets and showers are free. The most convenient way to get to the city from Rhodes International Airport, located 10 km from Faliraki, is to book a transfer. But, fortunately, the city has a well-developed bus network, and you can get to the resort by taking the Rhodes-Lindos minibus (get off at the Faliraki stop). Ticket price is about 3 euros per person, cars depart every half hour. The first bus from Rhodes leaves at 6:30, the last at 23:00.

You can travel the same route by taxi, but we should immediately note that this pleasure is not cheap - a trip from Rhodes to Faliraki can cost 30-40 €. In some circumstances, it is more profitable to rent a car or motorcycle; we recommend doing this at one of the tour operator agencies so as not to pay a rental deposit.
