Where to relax in Singapore by the sea. Singapore beaches: which one to choose? Beaches on Sentosa

“The City of the Lion,” exotic Singapore has been attracting diverse but few tourists from all over the world for decades. Singapore has not become a mass destination, and this is for the best: this way its Asian-intricate and slightly sinister secrets remain untouched, and nothing disturbs the atmosphere of attractive mystery. First of all, people come here to see for themselves: legends come to life, miracles happen, a dizzying mix of religions and cultures exists without conflict and even develops, acquiring new rituals. Well, in addition, you can enjoy a not too outstanding, but still a beach holiday, enthusiastically follow the life of the world's largest group of orangutans, be spotted at Formula 1 and get dizzy from the crazy dance of smells and sounds in ethnic neighborhoods cities.

Feel exotic

Exotics, incomparable in their crazy diversity, are perhaps the first thing you need to go to Singapore for. In other countries of the world, this very exotic thing is neat, measured, combed, if you like. Let's say, atolls with palm trees, or Brownian motion in Mumbai during rush hours, or the United Arab Emirates dromedromes for camel racing - everything is homogeneous and harmonious. But when you find yourself in Singapore, you immediately understand: that’s it, brain explosion, resisting (read: using logic) is useless! For example, on the one hand, there is the “Asian tiger”, a rapidly developing economy and the achievements of civilization at every step - and then there is the strictest and illogical ban on chewing gum, which is almost the very first sign of developing human consciousness (remember our country during perestroika ). Or, for example, the decent juxtaposition of such different holidays as Hari Raya Puasa (Muslim Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan), Christian Easter and Buddha’s Birthday - while it seems that the entire population of the country celebrates them with equal zeal and excitement .

The island of Sentosa, whose past is inextricably linked with the cult of the dead and the bloodthirsty Hindu goddess Kali, now serves... correctly! - a favorite place for beach holidays and all kinds of relaxation! Let's add to this the default contrasts: pedicabs, as if straight out of medieval drawings, and the covered moving sidewalks of the multi-level bridge connecting Sentosa with Singapore, cruise ships crowding at the piers, and traditional fishing boats, the design of which has not changed since the time of the god Shiva, high-rise buildings and the “Chinese Baroque” of China Town.

Made in Singapore

Admire nature

Singaporeans, in a good sense, are “addicted” to everything related to the preservation, enhancement and demonstration of local flora and fauna. At the same time, such an idea is embodied not in a callous, edifying way (the Red Book, mourning melodies, “there are x number of us tigers left”), but with optimism, faith in a successful outcome and an emphasis on achievements as opposed to losses. Singapore is not even a zoo - an animal sanctuary is the best proof of this. Not only is it home to the largest population of orangutans in captivity (which is also successfully and regularly increasing), and the collection of tropical birds amazes even the wildest imagination of animal lovers, everything in the zoo is arranged for the mutual comfort of both visitors and visitors.

The living conditions of the animals are as close to natural as possible: no nets, no bars, no barriers; safety is ensured by rocks, waterfalls and vegetation. In addition, many of the zoo residents are trained, which allows you to see them at very close range. And in Singapore there is the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve - 70 hectares of untouched tropics, a wonderful Oceanarium (swimming with dolphins and “fish” massage), Bird Park, Botanical Garden, Orchid Park... in general, we haven’t been disappointed with what we’ve seen so far !

Relax on the beach

Singapore's beach resources as a whole can be defined as follows: not a “blue flag”, but real tropics. Those spoiled by the purest waters of the protected corners of the planet will most likely not be too comfortable in Singapore: the pristine azure horizon can be disturbed by the silhouettes of tankers, and the coastline may inadvertently end in an oil loading port. However, the Singaporeans managed to veil this drawback with advantages. Firstly, a separate island of Sentosa is reserved for swimming - although it is located only 500 m from the “mainland”, it is entirely recreational. Secondly, the purpose of the beaches is very diverse: there is family and children's Palawan, active and recreational Siloso (canoeing, surfing, parties), and romantic Tanjong. Thirdly, the surrounding infrastructure, according to the good Singaporean tradition, is very developed: gardens and parks, museums, animal shows, theme parks, spa centers and the country's tallest observation tower to boot. Among other things, the hotels here are all of a high standard, and the abundance of historical attractions will allow you to take your mind off the solar-vegetable lifestyle and provide food for the mind.

Immerse yourself in festivals

As you already understand, the country has absolutely no shortage of celebrations, processions and festivals. In the ethnic quarters of Singapore, some event is celebrated almost every week: Arabs, Indians, Chinese, Tamils and God knows what other nationalities in the diaspora not only do not forget their traditions, but are inspired (and noisily) developing them. By the way, even if you find yourself in Singapore only for a transit of four days, do not miss the opportunity to walk through Chinatown or Little India - it is almost guaranteed that someone will celebrate a wedding or engagement on a grand scale, throw a feast for the whole world on the occasion of the birth of an heir, or remember the spirits of ancestors. Especially lucky are those who come to Singapore during “general” celebrations - for example, the Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival, the Hindu “festival of lights” Deepavali or the Dragon Boat Festival. By the way, not only the eyes, but also the taste buds will enjoy: special dishes are prepared for each festival. For example, at the Dragon Boat Festival it is customary to eat rice wrapped in reed leaves, and on the Deepavali festive table there are always sweet semolina balls with pistachios “laddu”. Among the secular festivals, it is worth visiting the famous National Cuisine Festival - a paradise for the tongue and an ordeal for the stomach, fashion and jewelry festivals, and, of course, the Formula 1 race.

Imagine sitting at a beach bar with a cocktail in hand, listening to reggae, looking out over the calm sea and white sandy beach. Doesn't remind you of anything? If you have ever traveled to Southeast Asia, then you will understand that such beaches are typical for most of this region. But who would have thought that exactly the same beaches can be found in Singapore. I had no idea whether there were any decent beaches in Singapore at all. But when I moved here, I learned that white sand on local beaches is imported from Indonesia and thus creates wonderful places to relax.

There are two main areas of Singapore beaches:

1) Sentosa Island: a tourism monster. Here you can ride roller coasters, skydive, take pictures with parrots, and, of course, relax on the beaches.

2) East of Singapore (Easten Singopore): According to my personal experience and reviews of local residents, this part of the beaches is good not so much for swimming as for camping. Here you can pitch a tent and have a picnic.

Beaches of Sentosa Island

Palawan Beach

My favorite beach, Palawan Beach, is probably the quietest of the 3 main beaches in Sentosa. There is plenty of room to find some space and relax. There are several bars and restaurants and you can buy cheap beer. There is a bridge here that will take you to another small island. It may seem strange that the island is surrounded by small islands and you can move from island to island. Palawan Beach is probably the best place in Singapore to sit in the shade and relax. There is also artificial grass where you can lie down (in the shade of palm trees), rest your head and look at the beach.

Tanjong Beach

At the Tanjong Beach Club you can order a good lunch, use sun loungers, and even take a swim in the pool. Tanjong is a great place to have a few drinks and relax. The beach here is as good as Palawan Beach, and even if you walk past the beach for 5-10 minutes, you will feel the atmosphere of Tanjong Beach to the fullest.

Siloso Beach

This is probably the most crowded beach on the island. Siloso has everything you're used to on the beaches of Southeast Asia, including beach bars, small shops selling glasses and jewelry. Siloso Beach is the best beach for swimming, so it is much more crowded than other beaches in Singapore.

Beaches in the East of Singapore

Changi Park

The beach inside Changi Park is quite nice, but I've never seen anyone swim here. This beach is a little different from the beaches of Sentosa Island. However, this beach looks pretty good. It's a great place to watch the sunset and there are some great bars and restaurants nearby. Since Changi Park is close to the airport, you can watch the planes fly low while on the beach. So relax and imagine that you are on the best island in the world.

Beach on the East Coast

The most popular beach that is not on Sentosa Island is East Coast Park. This beach is quite busy, but if you come here on a weekday, it will almost be entirely yours. This place is popular on weekends. People come here to ride a bike or stroll through the shopping arcades where they sell excellent seafood. The beach itself is really nice. Here you can swim and set up a tent camp, but for this you must obtain permission.

Pasir Riz Park

This beach park is also very suitable for cycling. It is located at the very end of the East-West metro line. The soil here is a dense, wet swamp, so there is a nature reserve here, driving around which you can enjoy the view. The beach itself is not suitable for swimming, but you can have a great barbecue and beer here.

If you want to relax on a perfect beach paradise, then you will find such beaches on the island of Singapore. If you want to relax more like a tourist who is interested in sports and active recreation, then you should go to the East of Singapore, where the beaches and parks are located.

The main place for a beach holiday in Singapore is Sentosa Island. The length of the beach line exceeds 3 kilometers. Some tourists are afraid to go to Singapore for a beach holiday, arguing that the beaches and sea there are dirty because of the port. A few years ago this was indeed the case. Now the beaches are fenced and protected even from the sea from sewage and other dirt.

The island has three beaches: Tanien, Palawan and Siloso. I will write about each separately.

1. Tanyen (Tanjong). The beach is located in the south of the island, east of all other beaches. The sand is yellow and of medium coarseness, so to speak. The water is clear, the beach is up to 15 meters wide, so there is always enough space here. There is practically no entertainment on the beach, except for the only entertainment complex. Very few cafes. This beach positions itself as a place for a secluded romantic getaway.

2. Palawan. It is located in the south of Sentosa in the central part of the coastline and is the closest part of Asia to the equator. For curious tourists, they built a bridge along which you can walk to the southernmost point of Asia and look into the distance at the endless expanses of the sea. Isn't it interesting to visit where Asia ends? The sand on the beach is the same as on Tanien, not surprising - it is the same everywhere on Sentosa. But there are more than enough places to spend time. And children's attractions, and a lot of cafes and restaurants, and an amusement park. This place is often chosen by families with children, as the play park on the shore is very popular with them. Ticket prices range from $8 to $25, depending on the day of the week.

3. Silage. A place for youth recreation and hangouts. This is the northern part of Sentosa's southern coastline. There are many clubs, bars, as well as extreme attractions for adults. Volleyball is constantly played on the beach, so few people can lie quietly on the sand. To do this, it is better to be located on the club territory, where there are sun loungers and a swimming pool. There are a lot of such beach clubs on the island. There are soft drinks, snacks, sunbeds, and towels, in general, everything for a comfortable stay. Usually in such clubs they play music, which in the evening becomes danceable and the disco gradually begins. This beach is used more for active recreation and sports.

All three beaches are owned by the country, so entry is free, but you will not find sun loungers. The beaches are thoroughly cleaned, and for the safety of tourists, nets from predators are installed in the water. Each beach has a coast guard, which really constantly monitors order on the water and on land. Due to frequent rains, there are canopies installed on the beaches under which you can take shelter. There are many places to change clothes and even lockers with passwords for leaving things. Marvelous! There are toilets and showers, and places where you can simply rinse your feet.

The beaches of Singapore are generally more like a park area. Lots of trees and greenery. Very often people use them to celebrate important events, weddings, etc.

Changi Beach Park. Located in the north of the country. The embankment is about three kilometers long with bike paths, grass and a clean coastline with soft sand. The sand is not snow-white as they say on the Internet, not like in the Maldives, but quite fine and light. The water, oddly enough, is very clear. You can hide from the sun in the park right next to the beach. There are many cafes here that serve delicious kebabs and steaks. This place is also loved by locals, because unlike the city, it is very quiet and peaceful. In terms of entertainment, squash, golf, tennis and all possible water sports are available on this coast.

Everything is spoiled only by huge tankers and container ships at sea. The view is not very attractive, but you can’t escape it – it’s a port city.

In general, choosing a beach is not difficult, since there are few of them. People don’t go to Singapore for a beach holiday, but if you have already decided to spend a vacation in Singapore, then it makes sense to take a boat ride to Bintan Island for 4-7 days - there will be a clean sea and snow-white beaches, but it will be boring. And this will already be Indonesia, i.e. you will have to buy a visa. Most Singapore holidaymakers organize their holidays this way.

– this pearl of Southeast Asia – is not too spoiled by its warm climate, so it is simply impossible to visit this country and not relax on the beach. It’s hardly worth swimming and sunbathing in the city itself: the local industry is well developed, so there is a large oil loading port on its territory. So lovers of clean water and beautiful scenery are advised to appreciate the benefits of a beach holiday in Singapore, which is located 500 meters from the mainland.

Here you can not only swim and sunbathe, but also visit the highest observation tower in the country, explore gardens, parks and some of the best, see beauty, and also buy tickets to special animal shows: peacocks, squirrels, monkeys, parrots. Therefore, the answer to the question of whether there is a real beach holiday in Singapore will be positive.

Attractions of Sentosa

Not all tourists like to spend all their time basking in the hot tropical sun. If you are interested in a more active holiday, take a look at, where a transparent underwater tunnel more than 80 m long has been built, the Butterfly and Insect Park, the Orchid Garden, the Spice Garden, the Flower Terrace, the Maritime Museum or the Historical Wax Museum. Those in need of exercise can play golf or go horse riding.

All Singapore beaches have spa centers where visitors can try exotic treatments such as seaweed wraps, mud and flower baths, massages using exotic aromatic oils and local herbs, vegetables and fruits, and thalassotherapy sessions. Movie lovers will appreciate the Cinemamania cinema with a virtual reality effect, and in the Vulcanoland park they will reveal the secrets of the ancient Mayan civilization and introduce you to prehistoric animals and their life.

Also, if you prefer this type of holiday, you should book a place with a beach. Among them are Resorts World Sentosa Festive Hotel, Siloso Beach Resort, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort, Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort&Spa and others. While staying there you will be able to fully appreciate all the delights of the tropical climate.

There are many ancient attractions, modern luxury hotels, magnificent parks, as well as well-groomed beaches, so Singapore is not spared for a beach holiday.

Holidays at sea

It is also known that Singapore, which competes with Shanghai and other port cities in terms of the number of trade centers, is traditionally visited for shopping and entertainment travel.

Now the situation is radical is changing. All beaches are equipped with water purification systems, and the sand is cleaned daily with special machines equipped with a metal detector. To prevent sea predators from swimming into swimming areas, they are fenced off with nets.

All recreation areas have rescue and medical services.
