Leave all valuables in the hotel safe. If you are nevertheless robbed, contact your local police station or call the police on 091.

SPAIN NATIONAL HOLIDAYS

In national holidays, as in a mirror, the national character is reflected. A universal truth that has its own specifics in Spain. This relatively small country is inhabited by peoples who have a great variety of holidays. And each of them is celebrated by almost everyone and with great enthusiasm. Once on such holidays, you will immediately understand how the Catalans differ from the Andalusians or the Basques from the Castilians. But even in this country there are holidays that have a special sound and attract everyone's attention not only in Spain, but also in other countries.

Fallas (Fallas) - the festival of fire
The inhabitants of Valencia are by nature great optimists and lovers of all kinds of holidays, of which there are a great many in the local calendar. Fiesta in Valencia is more of a rule than an exception to a series of monotonous and monotonous days. It's kind of a way of life. However, any Valencian tries to conserve energy and not to waste too much on minor holidays. It is necessary to be at the peak of form for the main fiesta - the famous Fallas, which explodes every year in mid-March with a carnival of joy and fun. This holiday is celebrated not only in Valencia itself, but also in dozens of cities in the autonomous community.

One of the most popular versions of the origin of the Fallas claims that it was the custom of Valencian carpenters from time immemorial to burn bonfires from the remains of unused wood on March 19, the day of their patron Saint Joseph.

The first mention of the holiday dates back to the second half of the 18th century. By this time, city laws appear, where the appropriate norms for the placement of figures on the streets of the city are established. Since the 19th century, the holiday has gained significant scope and power.

The meaning of the holiday lies not only in the burning of figures made of papier-mâché and wood, symbolizing human sins and vices, but also in the veneration of St. Joseph and the patron saint of all the defenseless. Fire symbolizes renewal, purification, destruction of filth. After all, Prometheus stole fire from the gods and since then it has become one of the most important pillars of human civilization, a symbol of its constant desire for progress and advancement.

They begin to prepare for the next holiday almost immediately after the end of the Fallas, i.e. in a year. Figures or whole compositions (sometimes up to 20 meters high) are created from papier-mâché and wood, reflecting various aspects of society, ridiculing human vices and weaknesses and praising virtues. There are even hereditary fieros, i.e. people who have been professionally engaged in this craft for several generations.

A month before the start of the Fallas, an exhibition of the figures and compositions of the participants is organized. The holiday lasts for several days and includes various events - day and night fireworks of extraordinary beauty, the offering of flowers as a gift to the Patron Saint of all the defenseless, the choice of the Fallas queen, etc. The square, named after the Saint, turns into a fragrant garden, and the facade of the basilica - into a patterned carpet of tens of thousands of different types of flowers. The 14-meter figure of the Saint, made of wood, is buried in gladioli, carnations, cyclomens, lilies and other flowers. The whole city gathers here. Women, girls and girls in amazingly beautiful clothes made of handmade patterned silk fabric, with bouquets of flowers brought as a gift from the Saint, leave an indelible impression!

The culmination of the La Crema holiday is the burning of compositions on the night of March 19th. All Valencia turns into a realm of fire! Figures are blazing, multi-colored fireworks are thundering, joyful music sounds, rattles are crackling, applause is heard. People are filled with a sad feeling of goodbye. On the silent morning of the next day, only traces of the fire remind of the holiday. But the resilient Valencians are already thinking about new compositions for next year's Fallas.

April Fair (Feria De Avril)
The April Fair, which originated in the middle of the 19th century as a rural holiday, has transformed over the years into a holiday that celebrates the Andalusian village and the way of life of its inhabitants. Celebrated annually in the city of Seville.

For several months, work has been going on to build a fair town out of many tarpaulin pavilions. Lined up and decorated with flowers, flags and paper lanterns, the pavilions fill the Prado de San Sebastian, a field where auto-da-fe, the executions of heretics, used to take place. On the opening day at noon, a huge number of riders and horse-drawn carts gather at the fairgrounds, participating in the traditional procession. The Sevillians arrive here on horseback, dressed in a festive way: men in waistcoats, leather pants, wide-brimmed hats and rustic boots, and women in long bright flamenco dresses. The pavilions are filled with people and traditional music. The wine flows like water, the noise is incredible, everyone has fun from the heart. In the midst of all this fun, dancers perform flamenco sevillanas.

After a short siesta, in the late afternoon, in an atmosphere of general excitement, bullfighting begins. Illuminated by numerous fireworks, the general fun lasts until dawn.

Feast of San Fermin
Every year from July 6 to July 14, the provincial and boring Pamplona explodes with an incredible and crazy holiday, which the brightest and most cheerful cities in the world can envy. These days there is a holiday in honor of the heavenly patron of Pamplona and Navarre, St. Fermina. According to the local Catholic tradition, San Fermin is revered as the protector of winemakers and bakers, but enjoys the sincere love of all the citizens of Navarre, regardless of their occupation. The holiday begins with a rocket shot from the balcony of the City Hall on July 6 at noon. With cries of "Long live San Fermin!" the whole city and numerous guests of Pamplona plunge into the abyss of unrestrained fun and recklessness.

San Fermin gained international fame and immense popularity thanks to Ernest Hemingway and his novel Fiesta. The writer first visited Pamplona on July 6, 1923 and was so shocked by what he saw and experienced that he made the city and the holiday the protagonists of his book, which brought him worldwide fame and wild success. After the publication of the novel in Pamplona during the holidays, for many years now there has been a real pilgrimage of all kinds of brave men, madmen, thrill-seekers who are fed up with a quiet, calm life, and just people who are eager to experience strong emotions and, perhaps, look death in the face.

The highlight of the holiday program is the famous run of bulls through the streets of the city from the corrals of Santo Domingo to Plaza de Toros, where bullfights are held in the afternoon with the participation of the best bullfighters in Spain. Daredevils (on average from 2 to 3 thousand) from all over the world, who have read Hemingway and are thirsty for thrills, get a unique opportunity in front of tens of thousands of people to run a race with angry huge bulls and play tag with death. These runs start every day from July 7 to 14 at 8 am sharp. The length of the route is 848.6 meters, and the frenzied race of bulls and people lasts a little more than 3 minutes. And yet, for the sake of these 3 minutes, some risk their lives, while others pay big money to watch this from the side. Such is human nature.

Over its more than 400-year history, San Fermin, of course, has undergone changes, overgrown with elements of a modern mega show - parades, fireworks, music festivals. Time dictates its forms. But the essence of the holiday remains unchanged - the joy of life and the horror of death as the main content of human life.

On July 14 at midnight in the Plaza Consistorial, filled with people with burning candles in their hands, the mayor of Pamplona will announce the official closing of the holiday. But the final chords of crazy fun and light sadness will sound until the morning. Goodbye, San Fermin!

SPAIN CITIES DECLARED A patrimony of mankind by UNESCO

Do you know in which country of the world there are the most cities (not individual historical monuments, but entire cities) declared by UNESCO to be the Heritage of Humanity?! Yes, yes, in Spain. The group of Spanish cities that are the Patrimony of Humanity - the largest in the world for one country - consists of monumental ensembles of eleven cities. All these cities have received worldwide recognition due to their perfectly preserved natural, landscape and monumental riches. In them, the load of history has left an unusual relief imprint, which manifests itself in an amazing layering of harmoniously intertwined architectural and decorative styles. Tired of the heaviness of "stones" of extraordinary value, these cities, however, are not only witnesses of the past, but also keep pace with the times along the path of social and cultural development.

We will begin our acquaintance with these cities from Santiago de Compostela, a city named after the heavenly patron of Spain, Saint James (Santiago). Since the early Middle Ages, the flow of pilgrims from all countries of the Christian world, going to the temple erected over the grave of this apostle, has not dried up. To see the rest of the cities that are the pride of Spain, we have to cross almost the entire country from foggy Galicia to brilliant Cordoba, which was considered the beauty of the whole world and, when it was the capital of the Caliphate of the Omeya dynasty, competed on equal terms with brilliant Baghdad. The magnificent Mesquite Mosque, an outstanding monument of monumental art, as well as the famous Jewish quarter, has been preserved here. In the streets and gardens of Córdoba, you will feel the true essence and spirit of the proud people of Andalusia.

Further, our path will pass through Salamanca, famous for its scholarship and significant contribution to the science of the Renaissance. In the Middle Ages, the Pope proclaimed the local university one of the four best in the world. It was here that Columbus presented his original "Journey to the Indies" project, and where the best minds of medieval Spain studied, including Cervantes and the conquistador Hernán Cortés. The mystical Avila, surrounded by a giant wall, is amazing, where it still seems that we hear the steps of Teresa de Jesus. You can't take your eyes off Segovia with its magnificently preserved Roman aqueduct of the 1st century AD and the ancestral palaces of the Castilian nobility. In 1480, the residence of the Grand Inquisitor Torquemada was located here. A miracle of nature is the enchanting Cuenca with its famous hanging houses, located between the sickle-shaped bends of two rivers in an area of mesmerizing beauty.

Caceres truly dazzles with the splendor of all its historical streets, perfectly preserved to this day. Toledo - the medieval imperial capital of Spain, the city of three world religions, rises above the Tagus River. Here for many years lived and worked the most mystical of the Spanish geniuses - El Greco. In the many colors of the impeccable beauty of the city, the whole history of ten centuries seems to come to life. The group of cities recognized as the Patrimony of Humanity includes Alcala de Henares - the birthplace of the greatest of the writers of mankind - Miguel de Cervantes. Here is one of the most famous and prestigious universities in Spain. Two more world-famous tourist centers, declared by UNESCO as the Patrimony of Humanity, are located on the islands of Spain. The fortress walls of Ibiza (Balearic Islands), founded by the Carthaginians, surround a beautiful quarter with a labyrinth of narrow streets. The historic center of San Cristobal de la Laguna (Canary Islands) is built in the style of open architecture and served as a model for the construction of numerous colonial cities in the New World.

Some hotels consider it necessary to charge a minibar deposit on the day of arrival. All drinks taken from the minibar during the stay will be settled on the day of check-out.

Safe
Safes are available in almost all hotels and apartments. In most cases, they are located directly in the rooms. In a number of hotels, safes are located in a special room next to the reception. Services such as washing, ironing and cleaning clothes are provided in 4-5 * hotels and in some 3 * hotels (with a minimum order time of 24 hours).

In most hotels, the room must be vacated by 10 pm on the day of departure. After the release of the room, guests make a payment for all additional services (telephone calls, use of the mini-bar). All hotels have special rooms where luggage is stored until the final departure from the hotel, but it should be remembered that the administration is not responsible for the loss of things from the luggage room, which in most cases is not closed and not guarded.

If you are going to spend your holidays in the Canary Islands, remember that in hotels of the 4 * Super and 5 * categories, upon check-in, you must leave a credit card number or a deposit of 200-300 euros per week of stay per room. Upon check-out from the hotel, the deposit is returned.

In the Balearic Islands, where the popular resorts of Mallorca and Ibiza are located, an "environmental tax" has been introduced for tourists coming on vacation. The Parliament of the Spanish autonomous region of the Balearic Islands has approved a law introducing a special "environmental fee" in the amount of 1 euro per day for each tourist. Time tour is the worst company you can meet. The only thing worse is the companies that have already gone bankrupt and abandoned customers. We flew to Barcelona on 2.07.14-12.07.14 in the leopard we were not met .... they forgot. having called the tour operator in Spain, we waited an hour later for Yuri. But it turned out that since there are two of us, the tour was booked for a transfer in a regular transfer company. In my opinion, tour 2, in short, because of Yuri's waiting, we missed our bus and we had to wait for the second set for three hours. A total of 4 hours at the airport ..... but another 4.5 hours we drove everyone to the hotels .... It seemed that the driver was just mocking him, driving three times along the same streets. In loreta, we turned out to be abandoned, because no one even hinted that we were provided with a return transfer service by a terramart tour. The night before departure, we spent on the phone, so to the end and not understanding whether they would take us away! it turned out that we were leaving at 6:40 sitting on the benches, we really didn’t believe at seven in the morning whether they would take us to the end ..... And we flew away at seven in the evening ... after spending the whole day at the airport. Cool, yes. But this is already a claim against Orenburg Airlines. It's your own fault - you don't have to save money and fly by charter. Now we have firmly decided not to use the services of a tour operator ever again in our lives. Guys, the bus to the resorts of the costa brava, the costa dorada departs from the airport exit and takes an hour to go. Spain is our love, we will travel, but now only ourselves.

We have been traveling with Vremya-Tour for 3 years now. We chose it because the operator has an optimal ratio of price and quality of service. In particular, the first trip to Andorra 2 years ago (hosted by [Terramar Turk)] was wonderful. Unfortunately, I do not remember exactly the name of the representative (if I am not mistaken, Mikhail), I only know that he lived in Encamp. Many thanks to him for his sensitive attitude and always timely resolution of all issues. This year we invited friends on a ski tour to Andorra. Gathered a small company - 12 people. At the Airport, we were met by a representative of [Terramar Turk named Peter, who gave us a minimum of information on the bus, and then started a cassette (or disk, or flash drive) with a female voice, under which everyone fell asleep safely. Everyone woke up in a cafe half way to Andorra, where there was a stop. Then we bought [ski passes] with a 5% discount, which Peter quickly ran out of, and he had to [intercept them from another representative of Irina, who, fortunately, was traveling with other tourists at the same time to the airport. After arriving at the hotel, we did not meet Peter again, we saw Irina, almost every morning in front of the Funikamp (lift), where she answered all the questions of a large number of people. We lived in the capital at the hotel [Comtes de urgek ***, the hotel is not bad, the breakfast is standard, the dinner is wonderful, the service is good, the staff is friendly, except that we met the Russian-speaking girl at the reception only 1 time, and the rest of the staff hardly even spoke in English. In the restaurant at dinner, I was struck by the fact that there was no [dress control] at all. A little annoying was the daily trio of brave guys in shorts, slippers and a T-shirt [of the Institute of International Law and Economics, who, apparently, beguiled the resort. Information about when the representative of [Terramar Turk] will be at our hotel is completely missing, despite the fact that the hotel [unloadedk most of the bus more than 30 people. The problems started with the transfer to the ski lift on the first day, everyone waited for it for more than 45 minutes, because Peter said that the free [Skibask] will be at the stop (which turned out to be not 100m away, but min. 250-300m away) at 9-00. [The ski bus came full and only 5-6 people got into it, the driver called someone and said in Spanish to wait for another [busikk. Part of the people got to the mountain on a [paid one, another 15 minutes later a small [shuttle] arrived, announcing that it would only take them to [Funikampak (instead of the promised [El Tarterak]). All subsequent days [the ski bus came also very late, and always alone, and on Saturday it didn’t arrive at all, while half-empty [ski basses] [Natalie-turk and [Tez-turk in the amount of 2-3 pieces from each operator with a smile refused to bring us to the mountain. On the penultimate day of our vacation, quite by accident, we learned that a free shuttle runs from the hotel, but only for 8 people and you need to sign up for it in advance, which some of the people certainly took advantage of. The rest continued to stubbornly hope for a miracle, despite the fact that once again overcrowded [skibus Terramar-tourk passed by a crowd of skiers returning to the hotel from the station [Funicampk, without even stopping. The representative of [Terramar Turk, Irina, was informed several times about our difficulties and even called on the phone, but referring to the fact that she is now going to the airport and will contact us later, she did not react to our problems. Otherwise, the rest was a success. Special thanks to [Vremya-turk] for free access to the Spa center [Caldeok. This is the third time we visit it, and always with great pleasure. We wish the host [Terramar Turk] good health and take a closer look at tourists, because, for sure, your material well-being depends on our good rest and mood. Sincerely, Alexander and 11 other people.

Elena, I read your negatifchik)) to the company! I think so, if you don’t like the tour, the company got up and raised its thick zhzhzhzh and did everything by booking hotel tickets and a visa! I’ve been resting with a tour for 18 years and I’m happy! I saw how Russo tourists thump or sit until the last and then everyone is guilty and bad! who flies you! find out for yourself about the flight if it is a charter! this is not Aeroflot for you, where a ticket costs 1000 euros! Citizens be vigilant when you go on vacation, do not drink and look into 4 eyes for departures and arrivals! And fly not with charters, but with Aeroflot! it is reliable and expensive! not economy on vacation!

I bought a ticket to Andorra (Spain) from January 24, 2011 to January 7, 2012. Arriving at check-in 3 hours before the time indicated on my tickets, I found out that my plane to Moscow had already left 9 hours ago. Neither the tour operator (Vremya Tour), nor the travel agency (Algida tour), nor the Vim Avia airline warned us about the change in flight time. There were 4 of us who lagged behind the flight at the airport. Having written an official claim during the tour with the help of a lawyer, I received the answer: Time tour is eliminated from responsibility for what happened under various unlawful pretexts, transferring responsibility to the travel agency (Algida tour), the travel agency blames the tour operator for everything. We are filing a lawsuit, and in parallel we are sending this information to all the media. I have never seen such rude service! I would like to highlight this story due to the fact that such cases are now relevant (the recent Lanta Tour, Capital Tour), I feel that the Vremya Tour will be in the news feeds during the season, because a more boorish and incompetent attitude towards oneself and towards I have not seen other tourists yet. I would like to warn our citizens to be vigilant! We also used the Wim Avia flight, I read on the forum on passenger reviews that not everything is safe in this company either. Terrible reviews. Plus, they were forbidden to fly to the European Union, so Wim Avia use some kind of cunning scheme and fly under the name Bashkir Airlines to the Eurozone !!! Although this is the same Wim Avia! How is this possible. Just awful! I am very sorry that I read the reviews about Wim Avia and Vremya Tour only after my trip.
