Districts

Warsaw consists of 18 districts that play an important role in defining the character of the city: Mokotów, Prague Poludne (South), Wola, Ursynow, Bielany, Śródmieście, Targuvek, Bemowo, Ochota, Prague Pulnoc (North), Białołęka, Wawer, Zoliborz, Ursus , Wlochy, Rembertow, Vesola, Wilanow.

Bemovo

The area is located on the western part of the city and is its natural border. In the south it borders on the railway, in the east - on the airport. In the west, the area covers the countryside and almost reaches the edge of the Kampinos Forest.

Bialolańka

The district forms the northern border of Warsaw. It is located along the roads leading to Bialystok, Gdansk, Ostroleka, Suwalki. Many industrial enterprises are located in the southwestern part of the district.

Bielany

The area is located in the northern part of Warsaw on the left bank of the Vistula, in the vicinity of the Kampinos National Park and is one of the most beautiful and green areas of Warsaw. The characteristic features of the district are: the Bielany forest, the Mlochyny park, and the Bemowo forest. The Bielany forest is an ideal place for tourism. The area has retained its ecological character and creates good conditions for housing and development.

Mokotow

The district is located on the left bank of the Vistula. In the south it borders on the districts of Wilanów and Ursynov, in the west with the district of Wawer, in the east with Vlochy and in the north with Ochota, Śródmieście and Prague Poludne. Mokotów is a residential area. Embassies, residences, foreign delegations, well-known companies and government agencies are located here.

Hunting

The district is located in the southwestern part of Warsaw. It borders on the districts: Śródmieście, Wlochy, Wola and Mokotów. Its proximity to Śródmieście is definitely an advantage and attracts investors. Many offices of foreign companies are located along Yerozolimsky Avenue for 3 kilometers. Okhota district covers an area of 972 hectares, of which 200 hectares are landscaped

Prague Noon (South)

The dynamic development of the area can be seen everywhere. In addition to many residential areas built more than 10 years ago, such as Gotslaw Lotnisko, Przycholek Grochowski or Ignashka, new and architecturally interesting residential complexes are being created. The area is home to one of the most attractive residences in Warsaw, it is also called "Saxon Start" - an exclusive area of villas, whose hallmarks are the style of buildings of the 1920s and 1930s, although it slightly reinterprets the Polish architectural trends of those years - from historic cottage style to extreme functionalist classical buildings, many embassies are located here.

Prague Pulnoc (North)

The district is located on the right bank of the Vistula. In the south it borders on the district of Prague Poludne, in the east on Targuvek, and in the west its neighbors are the districts of Zoliborz and Śródmieście

Rembertow

The area is located on the far eastern bank of Warsaw, which makes it, in a sense, a gateway to the East and an entrance primarily for Belarus and Russia.

Sredmestie

The area can be called the cultural and recreational center of the capital. Located on the left bank of the Vistula in the very center of Warsaw, it is possibly the most important area in Warsaw and probably the most important area in Poland. The word "srodmiescie" in Polish means "city center". The area is bordered by the railway line passing through Warsaw Gdańska station in the north, Jan Paul II and Nepodlegloszcz avenues in the west, and in the south it runs to the end of Batorego, Boy Zhelensky, Spetserov and Gagarin streets.

Targuvek

The district is located on the right bank of the Vistula. In the south it borders on Prague Poludne and Rembertów, in the east on the district of Prague Pulnoc and in the north on Bialolenka. It occupies an area of 2436 hectares, i.e. 5% of the total area of Warsaw.

Ursus

The district is the smallest of all districts in Warsaw. It is located in the western part of the capital, 9 km from the city center. It has an advantageous location in terms of communications, because it is at the confluence of international highways and railways. About 1 km from the northern border of Ursus is the international road E-30 (Poznań) from East to West. A few kilometers south of Ursus, there are already 2 international roads from North to South: E-67 (Katowice) and E-77 (Krakow)

Ursynow

The area is located almost entirely on the Warsaw Plain, located at an altitude of 20-30 meters above the level of the Vistula River and extending into the southern part of Warsaw. There are three nature reserves in and around the area. The location of the district on the border of Warsaw and the number of nature reserves play an important role for residents in the modern ecosystem of the city. In addition, the area is almost free from industrial plants, buildings and equipment that can be harmful to the environment.

Waver

The district is located on the right bank of the Vistula, in the southern part of Warsaw. In the north it borders on Rembertów and Prague Poludne and in the west on Mokotów and Wilanów. The area of the Wawer district is 7971 hectares, of which forests cover 34.5%. Thus, it is a green area known for its climatic qualities and traditional recreational areas. It is also known for its rich forests that form the Mazovian Landscape Park.

Vesola

The district is located in the eastern part of Warsaw, on the right bank of the Vistula River, and covers an area of 23 sq. kilometers. The area of Vesola is comparable to the districts of Rembertów and Prague Poludne. Compared to other districts, Wesola occupies the penultimate place in terms of the number of inhabitants in front of the 13,000th district of Wilanów. It is also one of the least urbanized areas, with a population density of only 650 people per sq. km.

Wilanow

The district is located in the southern part of Warsaw, on the left bank of the Vistula. In the West, the border of the Ursynov region, in the north - Mokotow and in the East - Wawer, located on the right bank of the Vistula. Wilanow is one of the most beautiful regions of Poland. It owes its fame to King Jan III Sobieski, who decided to build his summer residence here.

Vlohi

The area is located in the south-western outskirts of the capital, far enough to prevent city noise from reaching it and at the same time close enough that communication with the city center is not a problem. Anyone who wants to live in this area will surely appreciate the charm of its small buildings. However, it is the presence of an airport nearby, rather than aesthetics, that influences the building height constraint. Favorable location also matters - two main roads leave Warsaw: Krakowskie and Jerozolimskie avenues

Will

The district is located in the western part of Warsaw and is bordered by the industrial Żoliborz in the north-western part, by the district railway, Jan Paul II Avenue, Jerozolimskie Avenue, Warsaw Railway (WKD) in the north-western part, by the railway lines in the section Warsaw Wlochy - Warsaw Zachodnia in the south , in the western part with the forest of Kolo, in the northwestern part with the avenue of the Home Army

Zoliborz

The district is located in the northwestern part of Warsaw, on the banks of the Vistula River. Two main arteries pass through it: the route of the Krajvoi Army, linking the Eastern and Western parts of the city, and Wislostrada, linking the North with the South. In the western part of the district there is an industrial zone and the Povezki cemetery.

Over the seven centuries of existence, Warsaw has experienced several conquests and destruction. The entire historic city center was razed to the ground during World War II. For decades, restorers painstakingly studied documents, old engravings and photographs and literally brick by brick restored the capital of Poland from ruins.

As a brilliant example of restoration, the historic center with its squares, castles and churches was included in the UNESCO heritage list. Nowadays, a tourist, walking along the Market Square and contemplating the powerful royal castle, will hardly guess that these sights are only a few decades old.

What to see and where to go in Warsaw?

The most interesting and beautiful places for walking. Photos and a short description.

Historic city center. In the 13th century, the first stone of the future Polish capital was laid here. For centuries, life was in full swing around the Old Town - merchants gathered for fairs, itinerant artists staged street performances, crowds of onlookers gathered to stare at the bonfires where witches and sorcerers were burned. Of the historical buildings, almost nothing has survived, only the basement floors and cellars, but the Old Town does not lose its charm from this.

The palace is 10 km away. from the Polish capital. It was erected in the 17th century for King Jan Sobieski and his wife Maria Casimira Louise. At the request of the Queen, during the construction, the creators were guided by the French architectural school (the Baroque style prevails). At the beginning of the 19th century, one of the first art museums in Poland was opened on the territory. During the Nazi occupation, the museum's collections were looted, but then they were returned back to Poland.

An architectural and cultural monument in the center of Warsaw, erected in the 16th-17th centuries by the Lithuanian prince Sigismund. During the Northern War, the castle was plundered by the Swedes and gradually dilapidated. It is noteworthy that in 1829 the Russian emperor Nicholas II was married here to the kingdom of Poland (at that time the Commonwealth was part of the Russian Empire). The modern Royal Castle is a copy of the structure blown up by the Nazis during World War II.

The central square of Warsaw, surrounded by the main attractions. Located within the Old City. In the center of the square there is a memorial column in honor of King Sigismund III Vasa. From Castle Square begins the Royal Route, which leads to the country residence of Jan III. In the Middle Ages, this place was the concentration of city life, all major events took place here.

Another central square, surrounded by houses with multi-colored plaster. Each building is unique, each facade has a different pattern and color. The Market Square was the trading pulse of Warsaw in previous centuries. It was always crowded, lively and fun. Taking a leisurely walk around this place, you can feel the real atmosphere of the Middle Ages.

A powerful fortification of the 16th century in the system of fortifications of the Old City, built according to the project of the Italian master D. Batista. The building did not perform defensive functions. At the base of the barbican tower there is a monument to the Siren. According to legend, in ancient times, the Siren emerged from the river and informed people that a great city would soon appear on the banks. Today, an exhibition gallery is located on the territory of the fort.

Russian fortress of the 19th century, built by order of the imperial authorities after the November Uprising. It housed a prison for political prisoners and rebels. Important historical milestones of the Polish national liberation movement are connected with the fortress. After the occupation of Poland in 1915, the citadel passed into the hands of the Germans. But they were expelled in 1918. The fortress went to the newly formed Polish independent state.

A monument commemorating the fallen Polish patriots during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. It was officially opened in 1989 on the very spot where the freedom fighters were hiding from the German occupiers. The composition depicts two groups of rebels who seem to rise from the ruins and courageously rush into battle. The monument is one of the most interesting and visited monuments in Warsaw.

The Polish name of the temple is St. John's Church. This is the oldest Catholic church in the capital, which was built in the XII-XIV centuries. Important events have taken place here for centuries: coronations, the conclusion of peace treaties, magnificent funerals of monarchs. The church played the role of the spiritual center of the Polish state. The modern building of the temple is a remake, as the historical building was demolished during the German occupation.

Church of the XVI century, which also could not escape the fate of being destroyed in the Second World War. In the middle of the 19th century, a statue of Jesus carrying the cross stood in front of the temple. The church is notable for the fact that in one of its walls there is an urn with the ashes of Frederic Chopin. In the 20th century, the temple was completely rebuilt, but work on the exterior and interior decoration continued into the 21st century.

The temple was founded by the ruler Jan III and his wife in the 17th century at their own expense. Inside is the tomb of the Polish princess - the daughter of Jan III. The church was built in the style of classicism and baroque with strict observance of geometric proportions according to the project of the architect T. Gamerski. After the bombing, only the garden of the 17th century was preserved. The temple was rebuilt in the middle of the 20th century.

The current cathedral, which arose thanks to the generous funding of Princess Anna Radziwill. Her ashes are buried inside the church. Due to numerous reconstructions, a single style is not traced in the architectural composition, a mixture of elements from different eras prevails. The bell tower of the church is used as an observation deck. According to legend, if a young couple gets married in the Church of St. Anna, then the marriage will be long and prosperous.

Frederic Chopin is a famous Polish composer whose creative path was connected with Warsaw. The exposition of the museum consists of items belonging to the musician. In addition to letters, musical scores and personal items, you can see the piano at which the master worked. In addition to the traditional exhibition, there is a multimedia exposition where you can learn about the details of Chopin's biography.

Museum dedicated to the research and life of the famous female physicist Marie Skłodowska-Curie. Thanks to her research, the table of chemical elements was replenished with two new elements - polonium and radium. The name "polonium" was given to the substance in honor of the motherland of the scientist - Poland. Maria was twice awarded the Nobel Prize. The museum was organized in 1967 through the efforts of her daughter Eva Curie.

Museum dedicated to the Polish Armed Forces. The exposition covers the period from the emergence of the Polish state to the present. The open-air exhibition presents samples of weapons from other countries: artillery pieces, tanks, fighters, armored vehicles. Inside are collections of medieval weapons, armor, banners. The museum houses the cocked hat and saddle of Napoleon Bonaparte.

A scientific interactive museum where visitors are invited to experiment on their own. It is one of the most advanced museums of its kind in Europe. The inner space is divided into several thematic zones, telling about the whole layers of human knowledge. The first permanent exhibition opened in 2010, and after 1.5 years the museum was visited by about 2 million people.

A high-rise building, almost an exact copy of the Stalinist skyscrapers in Moscow. It was erected by the Russian architect L. Rudnev by order of I.V. Stalin, who thus wanted to make a gift to the Polish people. Offices, cinemas, a large conference hall, museums and exhibition galleries are located here. The spire of the building dominates all the buildings in Warsaw and serves as a reference point for tourists who do not know the city.

The former residence of the Elector of Saxony and King August II, an exact copy of the building of the XVII century, which was destroyed during the Second World War. Since 1975, the castle began to be restored from the very foundation, in 1981 the Center for Contemporary Art was opened on its territory. Today, Ujazdowski Castle has become a venue for numerous creative festivals, screenings of auteur films, art salons and photo exhibitions.

Another former residence of Elector Augustus II the Strong. This majestic and picturesque building was called the "palace by the water", since its foundation was set right on the surface of the river. The palace complex consists of the main building, baths, the White House with galleries and pavilions. Inside the main building there is an art gallery, where more than 2 thousand paintings are exhibited.

A picturesque quiet park surrounding the Lazenkovsky Palace. It was created as a nature reserve, but eventually became a public square. Since the beginning of the 19th century, the entrance to the territory was allowed for all people. The park has a monument to F. Chopin - a copy of the monument of 1926, which was destroyed by the Nazis. It is pleasant to walk along the well-groomed park alleys and paths on a fine summer day.

Independent walk around Warsaw it's something! Nobody pulls you, you don't have to run anywhere... and we quietly enjoyed the beautiful city. We had at our disposal six o'clock to get to know old m city of Warsaw.

The content of the article:

After night journeys and customs checks, we finally arrived at the Warszawa-Centralna railway station in Warsaw. Its convenient location makes it easy to see the city, because the station is located in the central part of Warsaw. You can get to the Old Town one stop by metro or walk. The second option seemed to us much more interesting, and we hurried to meet with the capital of Poland.

At the moment, free entry to the territory of Poland is not available to Ukrainians.Schengen visa to Poland is a mandatory component of the trip. What documents are needed to obtain a Schengen visa to Poland? How to fill out an application for the Polish Schengen? Read in our report Schengen visa to Poland.Preparing for our trip, all these questions were very relevant for us, and having passed this stage, we tried to describe this procedure from our own experience. As well as how to get a Pole's Card, we considered in a separate article.

Warsaw through the eyes of a tourist

Warsaw , of course, is not as interesting to tourists as, for example, Krakow, but since we had the opportunity to see it, why not! We only had six hours that we didn't want to waste, waitingIntercity. Leaving the luggage in the luggage room, and having exchanged 100 zlotys in the nearest stall, we went in search of an information desk, where we expected to receive a free map of the city, but after searching the entire station, we did not find it. As it turned out later, it was moved from the station to the building opposite, but we learned about this later. It's good that Vitya uploaded a map of Warsaw to his phone the day before, it helped us a lot. The Polish phrasebook also came in handy, you can download it by clicking on the link.

During the Second World War, it suffered a lot. It was essentially razed to the ground. But, despite this, there is something to see in Warsaw. All the main buildings have been restored and we can contemplate them in all their glory.

Near the station there is a huge shopping center "Złote Tarasy". Poland is considered a paradise for shopaholics; it is not uncommon for tourists to arrange shopping tours to this country. Too bad I didn't have time to check it out. On the way back, we did pop into the mall to use the free WiFi, but there was no time for shopping. Satisfied buyers loomed all around, waving multi-brand packages in search of a suitable purchase.

A good guide on the way for us was Palace of Culture and Science. It is considered the tallest building in Poland. Today is Sunday, there are almost no people on the streets. Quiet and cozy atmosphere circles over Warsaw. I can't believe it's New Years in two days! There is no snow at all, only the streets are decorated with festive New Year symbols in the form of toys and Christmas trees.

After a twenty minute walk, we reached Saxon park. I can imagine how beautiful it becomes in the warm season! The trees put on green dresses, and beautiful flowers bloom in the flower beds. It's amazing how many ducks are in the clearing! Accustomed to attention and care, they are not at all afraid of people. There is an artificial lake on the territory of the park, and earlier there was a Saxon Palace, but it is still going to be restored. Only three arcades remained from it, under which there is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Eternal Flame. The park is decorated with a fountain, with sculptures located near it, which characterize each of the sciences.

Connects the modern center of the capital of Poland and the historical avenue Krakow Suburb. It contains the main sights of Warsaw

  • Residence of the President of Poland and a monument to Prince Jozef Poniatowski
  • Church of St. Anne
  • Staszic Palace and Nicolaus Copernicus Monument
  • Monument to Adam Mickiewicz and others

As in the picture, an amazing Castle Square. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in Warsaw, at least from those that we managed to see. Decorates her Royal Castle, in front of him is a column to King Sigismund III. The semicircular defensive structure of the Barbican attracts with its appearance, it is located opposite the castle. On New Year's Eve, a beautiful Christmas tree with huge toys was installed on the square.

From the bridge, we enjoyed the view of the Vistula River, looked, from afar, the truth, at the central football arena of the capital of Poland. streets Old town of Warsaw as if they smelled of antiquity, it is a pleasure to walk here, and when a carriage passes by, it feels like we have really been transported in time. There is an extraordinary atmosphere here. While enjoying the walk, we looked at the architecture of the capital of Poland with interest, and so we slowly reached the main Rynok Square. There is a skating rink here, and next to it are cozy tables where you can drink a glass of mulled wine and relax.

Warsaw Mermaid

Many have heard about the legendary mermaid Siren, who is the symbol of Warsaw. She was awarded a place of honor on the main square. Old town of Warsaw. According to legend, the mermaid Sirena swam into the Vistula, and she liked these places so much that she decided to stay here forever. The shield and sword in the hands of the Siren is not accidental, because according to legend, she promised to protect the city and its inhabitants from enemies.

Hospitable and educated Poles love their country and honor traditions. And if you are called “Pan” or “Pani”, then you are in Poland. Poles prefer an active lifestyle. Often they arrange common jogging. Walking around Warsaw, we happened to see columns of runners more than once.

A little more walking on the streets Old town of Warsaw we went in search of food. After a morning walk around the city, an incredible appetite broke out. How to be in Poland, and not try the national cuisine! They did not take into account one thing - today is Sunday and institutions are open from 11-12 in the morning. There was one good institution in the center in mind, unfortunately, we couldn’t get there, it also works from half 12, and this doesn’t suit us at all. And so I wanted to try "zurek", "bigos" and eat Polish "pies". The Poles are very fond of different soups. On the festive table of the Poles, soup is an obligatory dish. Our walking time in Warsaw was coming to an end, and we headed towards the station, where we went into a cozy steakhouse. Well, there are portions! We ate heartily not “zurek”, but it was very tasty. Prices in Warsaw pleasantly surprised us. Finally, we tried bison and hurried to the train.

Well, that ended our acquaintance with the Old Town of Warsaw. Would like to stay here for another day ... The winter time deprived us of the opportunity to see Lazienki park and Wilanow Palace. There is no doubt that these places are worth visiting! Even in six hours we saw a lot of things and got imbued with the capital of Poland. A walk through the Old Town of Warsaw was a success! And now forward - to a meeting with Germany ...

The most beautiful and most interesting part of Warsaw for tourists is, of course, the Old Town.

It is this part that is chosen for excursions, as well as personal leisure on weekends or holidays. Let's see why it is the Old Town of Warsaw that attracts more and more tourists from all over the world, and where exactly it is worth spending time in this area so that it leaves you most vivid impressions.

The city center of Warsaw was founded in the thirteenth century. Somewhat later, the Market Square was laid, the town hall was erected, which for a long time remained the main attraction of the city.

At the end of the sixteenth century, the royal residence was also officially transferred here, thanks to which the castle was quickly rebuilt, and then Catholic churches, residences of noble families and many other buildings began to appear, while the Castle Square itself began to develop very rapidly. Nearby was built the most beautiful city park in all of Poland - Lazienki.

The best architects were engaged in the architecture of the old center of Warsaw. A lot of attention during the restoration of buildings after the seventeenth century was paid to the general style, thanks to which buildings of different ages fit into the overall ensemble.

Several times the city center changed its face, in particular, the town hall was removed here, and the column of Sigismund Vasa was also erected. And indeed, the Market Square itself was originally built in the Gothic style, and only then it was remade in the Baroque style.

At the end of the nineteenth century, the Old Town received its current face. Also, from that time until the Second World War, they tried to reconstruct the significantly dilapidated main temples and the palace, which was partially completed.

During the Second World War, almost the entire Old Town was destroyed by the Germans. He suffered the largest losses after the failed Warsaw Uprising, which was organized in 1944. During this period, almost all large buildings were destroyed, including the churches of the old center.

In the postwar years, the entire historical part of the city was reconstructed. In order to make Warsaw look exactly like it did before the Germans, various archival data on historically valuable buildings were used, including works by architecture students from the beginning of the century attributed to the old city.

The restoration of palaces and temples was treated most carefully; even the interior decoration was authentically restored here, not to mention the old facade. But with residential buildings, they worked on a completely different principle - here, according to old projects, only facades were erected, making communications and the internal layout of such buildings more modern and convenient.

Now the old part of the Polish capital serves more as a cultural center, as well as a historical monument (after all, it is not for nothing that this whole part of the city was included in the UNESCO funds, receiving the title of a unique reconstruction of the period of the 13th - 20th centuries).

However, even today it is here that the most famous public events are held, including concerts, conferences and much more, for which the squares and buildings of the old center are most suitable. Also, it is in this part of the Polish capital that all holidays and festivals traditionally start.

Excursion programs also certainly start from Palace Square, it is no coincidence that in its vicinity there are so many souvenir shops and restaurants today.

The Polish capital calls its very first district the Old Town, which, on the one hand, was limited by the old, now no longer existing channel of the Kamenka River, but on the other, by the remains of the city walls. The Old Town association traditionally includes Castle and Market Squares, as well as a very small Kanonia Square with adjacent streets, as well as many important buildings.

It was this part that was originally called Warsaw, but the rest of the districts that are now part of this administrative center were just suburbs.

It should be noted that all the other, also quite ancient parts of present-day Warsaw are also not included in the Old Town.

Even those districts that began their construction at the same time when the Castle Square was built up are called the new part, they have some stylistic differences, in addition, completely different functions were imposed on them during the time of construction, and even now, completely different functions, which are the heart of Warsaw does not and never did.

A new city for such a center as Warsaw is a rather vague concept. On the one hand, here the New Town is called one of the old districts, which initially developed as a completely independent settlement, and only in the eighteenth century became part of Warsaw itself (at that time the Old Town was already crowded with residents).

The New Town is a more modest part of the capital, which has neither magnificent palaces nor particularly remarkable monuments, but it also has its own Rynok Square and many old houses, which are still unique examples of authentic Polish architecture.

The new city, of course, like the Old one, was almost completely destroyed during the war. However, it was reconstructed less carefully than the old one, since it did not represent much cultural value, which is why only a few of its luxurious houses remain today.

But it is here that the Palace of Culture and Science is located, as well as several interesting old churches. Also, it is in this part of Warsaw that most of the offices, public buildings and other important centers for the life of Warsaw are located.

In addition to the New Town as a separate association within Warsaw, there are also new districts in the city. They have a completely different architecture, are practically devoid of significant monuments, but it is in them that modern shopping centers are concentrated, where many go on shopping trips, as well as the best absolutely inexpensive real estate for those who are going to move to the very heart of Poland for a long time.

It is in this part that Warsaw has collected all of its most interesting sights, without visiting which a trip to Poland as a whole may seem boring and completely incomplete to you. That is why, if you have already got to this city, first of all you will certainly need to visit:

  • Palace Square and, of course, the Royal Palace. Here you will find a luxurious exposition of the main castle of the city. If you are lucky enough to get here right at Christmas time, then it is also here that you will see the main Christmas tree of the country and the famous Polish fair.
  • Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. This is one of the stunning first temples of the old city, which was often used for solemn actions in the old days, and even now is the burial place for many famous people. To this day, it is rightfully considered the main Warsaw temple. By the way, you should come here even just to listen to the music, the acoustics in this temple are really unique in their kind.
  • Barbican. This is a unique and, unfortunately, the only fortification building, reminiscent of the fact that at one time the city of Warsaw was practically a fortress. Now this location serves as the main object for fans of historical reenactments - it is not uncommon for young people to try to stage impromptu jousting tournaments here.
  • Mermaid monument. This is the main symbol that the city recognizes today, located on the Market Square. It is worth coming here to make a wish, spend lunch time (there are a lot of street cafes) or buy souvenirs. And, of course, it is difficult to imagine such a tourist in Warsaw who would not decide to take a picture here.
  • Church of the Merciful Mother of God. Several times he moved from one church order to another. Another interesting temple in the city of Warsaw, which was completely destroyed after the Warsaw Uprising. Restored in great detail according to the documents of 1939.

Also, the Old Town will give you the opportunity to see many interesting monuments, of which the smallest is the monument to a small rebel, created in honor of the Warsaw Uprising of 1944.

And that's not all, because, in fact, every house here has its own interesting legend and is included in the historical heritage, so it's impossible to ignore it and not take a picture against the backdrop of a precisely restored facade.

Where will be the most interesting for tourists

The most remarkable places in the Old Town are the Market Square (especially on holidays), the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist (even if you don’t usually visit places of worship, in this case you risk missing out on many interesting historical monuments) and, of course, the Royal Palace itself with Castle Square.

By the way, you need to allocate as much time as possible to the bride of the palace. This building of the Polish capital is very large, it has a complex ensemble, and inside the castle itself there are often several expositions worthy of attention.

Children in the old center, most likely, will find only Rynok Square interesting. However, it is recommended to visit it with such an audience rather in the evening hours. It was at this time that Warsaw pleases its tourists with numerous performances, fairs, street concerts, without which a visit to this luxurious capital may well seem incomplete.
