History of the university

The progenitor of the current academy is considered to be the Military Aerodrome Technical School of the Air Force in Stalingrad, the decision to open which was made at the end of 1948 by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR, and the opening took place on January 1, 1950.

Academy structure

VUNTS VVS trains specialists in 18 civil and 26 military specialties. Among the staff of the university there are 58 doctors and 445 candidates of sciences, 59 professors and 215 associate professors, most of whom were invited from other military universities with a promise to provide housing, and teachers who did not have an academic title (degree) were deliberately not invited, so as not to reduce their accreditation indicators.

Faculties

There are 14 faculties in the structure of VUNC VVS.

• Faculty of Hydrometeorology

It trains officers in the specialties "Meteorology" and "Research of natural resources by aerospace means." The training of military meteorological specialists in 1950-1956 was carried out at the Serpukhov Aviation Technical School of Special Services, in 1956-1960 at the Kirsanov Military Aviation Technical School. Since 1962, the training of meteorological service specialists was resumed at the meteorological cycle of the Michurinsk Military Aviation Technical School, later at the Voronezh Military Aviation Engineering School, then at the Institute, and now the VUNTS VVS. The faculty was founded in 1975.

• Faculty of means of aerodrome technical support of flights

It trains officers in the specialties "Refrigeration, cryogenic equipment and air conditioning", "Airfield technical support for aviation flights" and "Metrology and metrological support". The first recruitment of cadets for the main rear specialties was held in 1949, and already in the fall of 1951, the Air Force rear received the first specialists - technicians for the construction and operation of airfields, for the operation and repair of airfield machines, for the operation and repair of special vehicles. The faculty was founded in 1975.

• Faculty of Engineering and Aerodrome Support

It trains officers in the specialties "Automobile roads and airfields" and "Power supply of enterprises." The faculty was founded in 1975.

• Faculty of Management of Daily Operations of Units

It trains officers in the specialties "Personnel Management", "Pedagogy and Psychology" and "Organization Management". The faculty was established in 2003.

• Faculty of electronic warfare (use and operation of electronic warfare systems with enemy command and control systems)

Trains officers in the specialty "Means of electronic warfare". The faculty was established in 1981 as part of the Voronezh Higher Military Engineering School of Radio Electronics.

• Faculty of Electronic Warfare (and Information Security)

Trains officers in the specialty "Integrated Information Security of Automated Systems". The faculty was established in 1981 as part of the Voronezh Higher Military Engineering School of Radio Electronics.

• Faculty of Aircraft

Trains officers in the specialty "Technical operation of aircraft and engines." The faculty was established in 1975 as part of the Irkutsk VVAIU. In July-August 2009, the staff of the faculty was replenished with cadets from a similar faculty of the Stavropol VVAIU.

• Faculty of Aviation Armament

Trains officers in the specialty "Robotic systems of aviation weapons". The faculty was established in 1992 as part of the Irkutsk VVAIU. In July-August 2009, the staff of the faculty was replenished with cadets from a similar faculty of the Stavropol VVAIU.

• Faculty of Aviation Equipment

Trains officers in the specialty "Technical operation of aviation electrical systems and flight and navigation systems." The faculty was established in 1975 as part of the Irkutsk VVAIU. The Air Force Academy has two branches:

• Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Air Force "Air Force Academy" (branch, Syzran, Samara Region). Former Syzran Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots;
• Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Air Force "Air Force Academy" (branch, Chelyabinsk). Former named after the 50th anniversary of the Komsomol.

The Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Air Force "Air Force Academy named after Professor N. E. Zhukovsky and Yu. A. Gagarin" (Voronezh) was formed by order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated April 23, 2012 No. 609-r. Its main task is the implementation of educational activities in educational programs of higher and secondary military special training, postgraduate and additional professional education, as well as conducting scientific activities. VUNTS VVS "VVA" implemented a strategy of combining educational activities and fundamental scientific research in the interests of the Ministry of Defense and other power ministries and departments of the Russian Federation.

The history of the VUNTS Air Force is based on the historical memory of those universities of the Air Force, which, in the course of optimizing the system of military aviation education, were reorganized (merged, disbanded) and, ultimately, the training of personnel in their specialties is concentrated in the Air Force Academy, stationed in Voronezh: Air Force Academy. Currently, the academy, located in Voronezh, and its Krasnodar and Syzran branches provide full military special training in 36 specialties, secondary military special training in 6 specialties, professional retraining and advanced training of military specialists in 121 specialties, including 9 -ti with the highest operational and tactical training, training of scientific and pedagogical personnel in 17 scientific specialties.

In addition, the academy has a training center where junior military specialists are trained in 12 military specialties. The Academy has a powerful scientific and pedagogical potential. Currently, more than 120 doctors of sciences and professors, about 800 candidates of sciences, more than 400 associate professors and senior researchers work in Voronezh. The staffing of the scientific and pedagogical staff is 71.5%. The educational and material base of the academy includes over 29 thousand units of weapons and military equipment, a modern training and laboratory, training base with a system of training command posts, an airfield network (12 airfields with training aviation bases), a training ground, as well as bases for combined arms and physical training. VUNTS VVS is the only university of the Air Force, a multidisciplinary institution of military education, a forge of command, flight, engineering, technical, scientific and pedagogical personnel for the Air Force, EW troops, other types and branches of the Armed Forces, power ministries and departments, where there is military aviation.

Citizens with a secondary (complete) or secondary vocational education from among the following are considered as candidates for admission to the VUNC VVS "VVA":
- citizens aged 16 to 22 who have not completed military service;
- citizens who have completed military service and conscripted military personnel until they reach the age of 24;
- a serviceman serving under a contract (except officers), entering the academy for training under programs with full military special training, up to 25 years old, and entering under programs with secondary military special training, until they reach the age of 30 years.

Admission to the academy is carried out according to the results of professional selection: suitability for health reasons, physical fitness; compliance with the category of professional psychological suitability, the level of general education of candidates based on the results of passing the exam.
Specialties: "Special Purpose Meteorology" - geography (profile), mathematics, Russian language; "Logistics" and "Personnel Management" - mathematics (profile), social science, Russian. For other specialties, mathematics (profile), physics, Russian language.

Academy cadets are fully supported by the state. They are provided with: free food, accommodation, provision of clothing, medical support; free travel to the place of vacation and back (1 time per year). Cadets are provided with vacation holidays: winter and summer (15 and 30 days).

After the first year of training, cadets enter into a contract for military service for the period of training and the first 5 years of service in officer and sergeant positions. The monthly salary of cadets, after signing the contract in the 2nd year, is, depending on academic success and sports readiness, 13,000-15,000 rubles.

When cadets leave for the main (summer) vacation leave, material assistance is paid in the amount of the 1st salary of the monetary content.

Graduates of VUNTS VVS "VVA" receive: higher (secondary) military education with the assignment of the military rank of "lieutenant" ("sergeant"); civil specialty in accordance with the state educational standard; a state-recognized diploma of relevant education; guaranteed distribution according to the received specialty; the possibility of career growth, improving their educational and professional level; all rights, freedoms, benefits, and benefits established for the officer (sergeant) staff.

Professional selection of candidates for all specialties and training profiles is carried out in the city of Voronezh. Candidates who have passed the professional selection and enrolled to study at the academy are trained:
cadets of flight training specialties - in Krasnodar and Syzran, Samara region (branches of VUNC VVS "VVA");
cadets of engineering and technical training specialties - in Voronezh.
