Washing windows from the outside on the balcony in an apartment located on a high floor is difficult and dangerous. But knowing the secrets of how to wash windows from the outside, this process can be carried out independently and without much physical effort. In this article, we will talk about simple ways to clean windows.

Security measures

Before you start cleaning windows, you need to take care of personal safety. During the work, you may feel dizzy, you can lose your balance while trying to reach the detergent or prepared tools. All these circumstances can lead to an accident.

The process of washing windows should take place only in safe conditions, therefore it is recommended to perform a number of preventive simple actions:

  1. Arrange the tools, detergents in a convenient place so that there is no need to try to reach them.
  2. Take a stable position, exclude situations when you want to lean on a window, frame or mosquito net.
  3. Purchase or independently build tools with long handles (attach a long stick or mop to existing scrapers, washcloths).
  4. Use safety belts (fasten one end around the waist, and the second - inside the apartment to a strong and heavy object that can withstand a lot of weight).

It's important to listen to your body. If such work was planned in advance, but on the day of its implementation, the state of health deteriorated sharply, it is better to abandon the idea, transfer it to another day.

Tools

The quality of work depends not only on the skills of the performer, but also on the set of tools with which it is planned to complete the task.

  • soft sponges (it is forbidden to use sponges with abrasive surfaces, as they can scratch the glass surface);
  • containers for water and cleaning solution;
  • microfiber cloths, as they perfectly absorb moisture;
  • a scraper with a rubber nozzle and preferably with a long handle (if there is none, the scraper is securely fixed to the mop in advance);
  • chair or stepladder (check before use for stability).

Sometimes this standard set of tools can be expanded if the glasses have been heavily soiled.

On sale now there are special mops for washing three varieties:

  • ordinary with a special soft nozzle (equipped with a long handle, but, unfortunately, it will be impossible to adjust its length);
  • telescopic with two nozzles in the form of a rubber scraper and microfiber (the handle is adjustable in length, the maximum length reaches 2 m);
  • steam (the mop washes the glass perfectly without the use of a soap solution, the dirt is removed due to the action of steam).

The innovative steam mop is the ideal tool for cleaning any windows. However, not every hostess can afford to have it at home due to the high cost.

Glass cleaning procedure

You can decide on an acceptable method of cleaning windows after choosing the right detergent. In commercial establishments, special aerosols and sprays are offered for the implementation of such cleaning tasks.

Armed with a spray can, the aerosol is applied to the glass surface in zigzag movements. After that, the surface is wiped with a paper towel. Together with the applied substance, pollution is also removed. The procedure is simple, it is only important to monitor the corners so that they are also captured during processing with paper napkins or a towel.

Unfortunately, this method does not always allow you to get crystal clear. If there are already traces of old stains, soot on the glass surface, the spray will be powerless.

In such cases, it is worth paying attention to an alternative option. You can use the recommendations of the specialists of the distribution network, which will indicate a more powerful chemical agent. But you can cook it yourself. This will eliminate unnecessary financial costs, and the detergent will not be stuffed with chemicals.

The solution obtained by mixing two liters of water and a tablespoon of ammonia also has excellent cleaning qualities. And one more recipe for a great remedy: mix a glass of water, two teaspoons of salt and 10 ml of ammonia.

Using one of these recipes, prepare a solution that is applied to a soft sponge. Next, in a circular motion, the solution covers the surface of the glass, be sure to capture the corners.

Next, they take a rubber scraper, dip it in clean water and pass it over the glass. The trajectory of the scraper should be from top to bottom, but not bringing it to the very edge. The scraper should be rinsed more often in clean water.

In the lower part, dirt and product residues are removed with a scraper, which is driven in a horizontal direction. After removing the dirt, the glass surface is wiped with paper towels so that the windows become clean and free of streaks.

Removal of complex contaminants

Often you have to deal with the fact that the strongest pollution is found on the balcony or windows from the outside. Since simple methods cannot ensure cleanliness in such conditions, it is necessary to figure out how to wash windows on a high floor from heavy pollution. It will take extra effort, not forgetting about personal safety.

  • vodka - 30 ml;
  • chalk powder - 10 ml;
  • white clay - 10 ml.

All components are mixed, the resulting mushy mass is applied to the surface of the window. Then stand for about five minutes, so that the solution has time to dissolve traces of dirt.

It remains to wash off the remaining solution with water and wipe the surface with a paper towel.

The strongest contaminants are removed in the same way, but with the help of other cleaning mixtures prepared independently on the basis of:

  • 100 ml of water and 20 g of table salt;
  • liters of water, 20 g of chalk and the same amount of vinegar (the mixture must be boiled after mixing).

Washing hard to reach places

If the windows in the rooms or on the balcony are hinged, the washing process will be standard. Problems have to be faced when cleaning windows with sliding systems or windows of a “blind design”.

The difficulty arises not because of heavy contamination, but as a result of difficulties in how to get the opposite side of the surface.

It is in such cases that a device based on a window scraper and a long stick or mop helps to solve the problem. The extended handle will allow you to get to any hard-to-reach place.

Windows with sliding systems can be washed in a different way. Double-glazed windows are easily removed from the guides by picking up the plugs located near the rollers with a screwdriver. Next, the double-glazed window, held with two hands, is slightly lifted and removed. The removed double-glazed window can be washed in the apartment, and then reinstalled into the frame.

If this method is not suitable, and it is also inconvenient and scary to operate a scraper on a long handle, you can use a unique innovative device - a magnetic brush.

The principle of operation with such a device is simple. The magnetic brush consists of two elements, on each of which magnets are fixed. One element is installed from the outside of the window, and the second - from the inside.

The advantage of such a magnetic brush is not only the safety and perfect cleanliness of the washed surface, but also the speed of work. The window cleaning process is accelerated at least twice.

Many housewives fear that during the washing process, the second magnet located on the outside of the window may detach and fly down. I would not really want to lose such an "assistant", especially since considerable funds were paid for him.

Advice! As a safety net, it will be correct to tie a rope to the second magnet. Even if the magnet is disconnected, it will no longer fly down, but will hang on the rope. In this case, you just need to tighten it and then continue washing the windows.

A large number of ways to wash the window on the balcony from the outside allows you to perform this procedure without streaks, even on a high floor. Most importantly, do not neglect your own safety. In more detail, the process of cleaning windows from the outside is described in this video:

Cleaning companies do this job well and quickly, but their services are quite expensive. We will tell you how to wash the windows of the upper floors from the outside on your own and without risk to life. Basic tools: glass scraper, floater, dry rag, clean water and one of the window cleaners described below. After following all the instructions, you will get sparkling clean windows, spending a minimum of time and effort.

At least twice a year, the housewives face the question: how to wash the windows on the balcony from the outside? If all the frames open, then there is no problem, this is not such a difficult task. It is much worse if the loggia has one or more blind windows. Leaning out of the balcony and holding out a hand with a rag, you risk falling down. Therefore, we will use special devices used by employees of cleaning companies. You will see for yourself that it is easy and quick to wash the double-glazed windows from the outside.

We will need:

  1. Two buckets of clean water.
  2. Dry rag.
  3. Mop with MOP.
  4. Scraper.
  5. Detergent composition.

Before washing the outside, wash the windows inside - the remains of dirt are clearly visible through the light, and you will not need to think: “Is this a stain on the inside glass or from the street side?”.

Operating procedure:

Fill both buckets with water, add cleaning solution to the first, and leave clean water in the second to rinse off any remaining dust and detergent. You can use a mop with a foam nozzle, but if the house has a floater, then the work will be much easier. Flounder is good because it has a "floating" working plane, and you do not have to twist your hands to ensure a snug fit of the foam roller to the glass. In addition, the flooders are much lighter and have a telescopic handle that extends by 1.5 m. A microfiber MOP is suitable for cleaning windows from the outside, no matter if it is short or long.

Sit comfortably on the windowsill using a mop, wash the outer frame with a cleaning solution, then rinse the nozzle and rinse off the remaining solution with clean water, finally wrap the mop with a dry cloth or microfiber cloth and wipe the profile dry.

Now let's deal directly with the glass. The procedure is the same: we apply a detergent composition, three with a mop and rinse with clean water. Now we take a scraper, adjust the length of the handle and begin to remove the remaining water and dirt. This is done in this way: we start the working plane of the scraper as much as possible in the upper corner of the glass, directly to the window frame (the nozzle assumes a vertical position), press it and lead in our direction. When the scraper is in the top corner closest to you, you will need to wipe it dry.

You can wash the window in this way in a matter of minutes, without much straining and without risking your own life.

If you have or on the farm, then you can use them in the washing process.

Choose a cloudy, but not rainy day for cleaning windows. This recommendation is due to the fact that on hot sunny days the composition dries too quickly, leaving whitish stains.

Many people make the mistake of starting washing from glass - this is not right. The first step is to wash and wipe the frame dry and only then move on to the double-glazed windows.

Liquid glass cleaner is ideal, but it is not effective to wash blind windows with it, because it is impossible to reach out and spray it evenly over the surface, and the consumption of the product when using a mop is too high. Therefore, we have collected for you several recipes for inexpensive, but effective home remedies.

Window cleaners:

  1. For 5 liters of warm water, use 2 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid, washing powder or laundry soap shavings.
  2. A solution of vinegar not only washes away dust and dirt, but also makes the glasses shine, remember that if there is too much dirt, it is better to first wash it with soapy water and only then wipe it with water and vinegar (a spoonful of 9% vinegar per liter of water).
  3. Ammonia is diluted to 2 liters. water 1 tablespoon.
  4. For 4 l. water a few drops of blue, 2 tbsp. l. starch, 100 ml. ammonia and the same amount of 9% vinegar.

On a note

  • The sooner you start preparing for the departure, the better, the likelihood that something will be forgotten or missed will decrease. It is best to start preparation at least 5-7 days in advance
  • Be sure to bring extra warm clothes with you and keep them dry, even if the weather is sunny and warm
  • It is better to appoint those responsible for the preparation and distribute who is responsible for what
  • It is better to estimate a sample menu in advance, taking into account the wishes and characteristics of all participants. Who will eat and drink what, who is allergic to what - it is better to know and decide all these points in advance

Each individual tourist has his own understanding of camping.

For some, this is a weekend trip to nature, not far from the city, with an overnight stay in a tent. For others, it is active autotourism, which involves spending the night in a tent.

For others, this is a many-day and many-kilometer hike, often on the verge of endurance of the body, which involves not only spending the night in a tent, cooking on a fire, but also the need to carry all the necessary things in a backpack, that is, on your own shoulders.

Accordingly, the list of necessary things that you can and even need to take with you on a camping trip varies significantly depending on the intended type of camping holiday. Of course, for a more comfortable stay and trips by car, the number of things will be much more than for long and multi-day trips with a backpack.

Types of camping

I repeat a little, to understand the types of camping, and specify the list of necessary things.

For myself, I share three types of tent rest:

  1. A weekend trip, usually by car, not very far from home, with one or two nights in a tent.
  2. Active autotourism for several days, with overnight stays in a tent.
  3. Multi-day hike, without using a car.

Let us dwell in detail on each of the types of tent rest and a possible list of things necessary for rest.

List of necessary things for a weekend trip with tents

Considering that a weekend camping holiday is usually carried out by car - this is either a trip in your own car, or a car - transfer to a place of rest, the presence of a car makes it possible, on the one hand, to take more things that you may need, and with the other, taking into account the short duration of the trip, limit yourself to the minimum set.

1. Actually, the tent itself

If you are already planning a tent vacation, then without it, nowhere. Currently, the choice of tents is simply huge - from small single tents to multi-room tents, in which you can not only accommodate a large company, but also arrange a common kitchen - dining room.
If you need a tent once or twice a year, don't buy an expensive tent. The only requirement that you must consider when buying a tent is that it must be waterproof, both from above, for example, in case it rains, and from below, in general, also in case it rains and water flows under the bottom tents.

For more frequent trips to nature, it is worth choosing a better quality tent, both in terms of the materials used for its manufacture, and in terms of its stability and ease of installation.

I think that any professional seller of a tourist shop will be happy to not only advise you, but also help you decide on the choice of a tent in the ratio of the desired price / quality.

2. Travel mats and sleeping bags

In addition to the tent itself, you need to take care of the bed.

Self-inflating mats, which take up little more space and weight than travel mats, have become a good replacement for the usual tourist rug (“foams”).

Some tourists buy a large rubber mattress, inflate it right in the tent, and sleep peacefully on it, not only without experiencing the cold from the ground, but also on a completely soft and comfortable surface. For the mattress, do not forget to buy the appropriate pump (as a rule, the pump is included).

Even with a large mattress, sleeping bags are still needed. And, if one large mattress is enough for a tent, then every tourist, including children, needs sleeping bags.

3. Warm clothes and shoes

If you travel not very far from home, and the weather promises to be hot and not rainy, you can not take a large number of warm clothes. At the same time, do not forget that evenings and nights, especially near the water, are cool, so a warm jumper and trousers (even sports ones) can come in handy.

Yes, and weather forecasts often do not come true, and instead of a beautiful tan from nature, you can bring pronounced signs of a cold. That is, even if you expect heat, you need to take warm clothes. Especially if you are traveling with children.

Also, do not forget that for outdoor recreation it is necessary to take comfortable clothes with you, preferably one that does not wrinkle too much when worn actively.

4. Camping - tourist furniture: folding table, chairs

The items are very comfortable. But their availability depends not only on your financial capabilities, but also on the volume of the trunk of the car. Although, some tourists - tenters feel quite well while sitting on stumps or on tourist rugs - seats.

5. Camping utensils

Depending on what and how much you plan to cook. And if you can use ordinary disposable plastic utensils and plastic appliances for eating, then for cooking you need at least one pot, frying pan, or a pot, if you prefer to cook on a fire, a ladle, etc. I wrote more about what dishes can be useful on a trip, as well as what products to take to nature, in one of my previous articles: what products to take to nature (follow the link).

Also, it will not be superfluous to have a gas stove and a small supply of gas cylinders on a hike or a trip with tents - not everyone knows how to cook on a fire.

6. Other little things

For example, toilet paper, ointments and liquids from ticks and mosquitoes.

A brazier and skewers or a grill for cooking meat or fish, ready-made charcoal, in order not to wait until enough coal burns in a fire, will not be superfluous. You can also take a bundle of firewood with you, especially if you plan to camp with tents in a place where, by definition, there is not only dead wood, but also, in principle, a forest.

7. First aid kit and medicines

Resting in nature, there is always a risk of injury. Therefore, a tourist first aid kit should always be at hand. There should also be a small supply of medicines in case you have to take them on a regular basis.

The list of necessary things for active autotourism

Active autotourism, with its longer pastime far from home, implies a more expanded set of necessary things. Although, in fact, the list of necessary things that you need to take with you is almost the same as the previous one.

Perhaps the main difference is a much larger amount of clothing, in which it is necessary to take into account both the likely heat and the possibility of a sharp cold snap. Of course, it makes no sense to take the entire wardrobe from home, but spare trousers and jackets obviously do not hurt. Boots with warm socks will not be superfluous.

Food supplies are collected depending on the direction and place where you plan to go. Even in the village shop you can buy the most necessary products. But, if you plan to go, for example, far into the mountains, and the nearest village is located hundreds of kilometers away, then you should take care of the supply of food and water.

The same applies to other related items: dishes, washing accessories, towels, etc.

When we are going on a long trip, we have a large number of bags that need to be somehow distributed around the car ... Therefore, when packing things, you need to take into account the trunk volume of your iron friend. And the principle "I'll take it just in case" does not always justify itself.

On the other hand, when traveling by car, you can take with you an almost unlimited number of necessary things, which cannot be said about long trips on foot, when everything you might need on a camping trip must not only be compactly packed into a backpack, but also carried this backpack on your back...

List of necessary things for a camping trip

In this case, I will limit myself to a universal list, since each hiker has his own individual capabilities and needs.

  1. Backpack. The backpack should be comfortable, light and roomy, with a large number of pockets and compartments.
  2. Tent. For hiking, they select the most light, but at the same time, waterproof tent. It will no longer be possible to take tents and camping furniture with you. Tourist seat mat.
  3. Sleeping bag and travel mat. Without it, nowhere. Sleeping on bare ground is not only unpleasant, but also fraught with hypothermia with all associated diseases.
  4. A set of warm clothes: thick jacket, jumper, trousers, socks, hat, gloves. Especially if you go to the mountains. Sunglasses for the mountain route also do not interfere. With bright sun and snow lying in the mountains, the eyes will not be comfortable.
  5. A set of ordinary hiking clothes. As a rule, this is a sports suit. Waterproof raincoat - in case of heavy rain. Ideally, the raincoat should be large enough that you can fit into it with your backpack.
  6. Several sets of underwear, including underwear, t-shirts, socks. It is better to take from soft natural fabrics. Cap or head scarf.
  7. Shoes. As a rule, on a long trip with tents, they take with them thick waterproof boots and lighter shoes, for example, ordinary sneakers.
  8. Phones, watches, navigator, camera. If you take electronic devices on a hike, do not forget to take spare batteries.
  9. Washing supplies, towels, soap/shampoo, tissues, toilet paper…
  10. Set of dishes. Depending on the number of people going on a hike. If there is a large group, then the dishes used for cooking are distributed among the tourists, and each tourist also takes an individual set of dishes (plate, mug, fork, spoon, knife). If a small team goes on a hike, or an individual hike is planned, then you yourself will have to carry both a primus stove with a supply of gas, and a saucepan.
  11. Products. Probably the hardest part of the list. You can’t carry a large amount of canned food and potatoes with cereals on yourself. Therefore, many experienced tourists are content with little: they take with them a limited set of fast-cooking cereals, nuts, dried fruits, dried meat, spices, etc.
  12. Other little things. Matches or a lighter, a flashlight (preferably a headlamp), a small coil of a regular clothesline (for example, hang clothes to dry), a few plastic bags, thread and a needle, scissors. Don't forget to bring some cash and your passport with you. No matter where it will take you.

Decided! You are about to travel to the USA. Tickets have been bought, the route has been drawn up, housing in the cities has been booked and you understand that, for example, in national parks you want to stop for overnight camping. What do you need to bring with you to be ready for hiking conditions?

I’ll note right away, since we are talking about campsites in relation to travel in the USA, then the set of things will be somewhat different from the classic hiking trip. Why? Yes, if only because you will be transporting things from place to place by car, which means that there can be much more of them than if you had to carry them everywhere on yourself. You know, with thirty kilograms behind you, there’s no time for romance and landscapes))

So, let's move from words to deeds and draw up list of essentials(checklist) that you will need in the campground and hike. Plus, I'll show you what we took.

Essentials

  • Tent

The choice of tents is now huge and sometimes it is very difficult to decide which one is needed. In my opinion, the main thing is that it is waterproof. It is even better if it is two-layered: mesh + cape. Such a tent is better ventilated and saves from condensation.

Size doesn't really matter if you're going to be hauling stuff around by car and don't plan on going on a long hike where you have to carry your gear. In this case, you can not waste time on trifles and take a larger tent. As experience has shown, this is more convenient than crowding in a small one.

For example, we bought a triple tent before the trip Coleman Hooligan. When they collected it for the first time, still at home, it seemed huge. I thought that we, so small with such a big tent, would be laughed at by everyone in the campsites. It turned out that the people do not limit themselves at all, sometimes erecting entire tented palaces. In a large tent it is more convenient to change clothes, have breakfast or dinner in bad weather, and it’s just more free.

For all two months, our tent did not let us down even once, having withstood both rain and wind.

Tent price: 90 dollars.

Getting to know the equipment

If you bought a new tent, and even more so if this is your first tent in your life, practice putting it together in advance so as not to suffer later somewhere in the park, and even in the dark. For example, once Andryusiks and I watched how four guys assembled a freshly unpacked tent for more than an hour, although there were 10-15 minutes of work there.

  • Sleeping bag

A sleeping bag is easier to choose than a tent. The main thing is not to freeze. As it turned out, in some national parks it can be very, very cold at night. For example, in Yosemite in July, the temperature dropped to +3 in the morning. So it is better to choose a sleeping bag according to the extreme temperature value that you expect to encounter.

We bought the simplest sleeping bags from the same company. Coleman and survived with them all the American "frosts", however, sometimes they slept in pants, fleece and woolen socks))

Sleeping bag price: 30 and 35 dollars (except for the color they did not differ in anything).

  • Rug

A rug (some also call it “foam”) is a necessary and useful thing, because it helps to smooth out all the roughness of pebbles, twigs and bumps digging into your back, plus sleeping on it is much warmer than without it. If you roll up its upper part with a roll, then it is quite possible to do without a pillow.

We also took the simplest rugs.

Mat price: 12 dollars.

  • Headrest/inflatable pillow

You can take it, you can not take it, it depends on your desire. As I wrote above, you can get by with a rug, you can use, for example, a jacket, fleece, shirt, towel instead of a pillow.

We used improvised means.

  • Backpack

If you are going to go on small hikes or just walk a lot, you can not do without a backpack. I don't mean big backpacks for everything, they can ride with you in suitcases and whatever. We are talking about small backpacks that are convenient to take with you on radial sorties, so as not to carry food, water, sunscreen, a camera in your hands when you do not need it, etc. Andriusiks and I each had a personal backpack.

This is a set of things that everyone who is going to stay at campsites will definitely need. Below I will list no less necessary accessories, but their set may vary depending on personal wishes and preferences.

Kitchen utensils and supplies

One way or another, you have to prepare. Going somewhere for breakfast and dinner every time, wasting precious time on this, as for me, is not very convenient. If it’s a day or two, then it’s still possible, but if you spend the night in campsites all the time, then it’s more convenient not to depend on all sorts of cafes and restaurants. And what is the point of camping then? It's so romantic to wake up, wash up, immediately, without leaving the tent, have breakfast and go towards the impressions. So what do you need?

It is better to buy in advance and with a margin in some supermarkets such as Walmart, Safeway, etc. Why? Then, in the towns adjacent to the national parks, small shops are unlikely to please with their prices. Almost all of them live at the expense of tourists and use it to the fullest.

  • Water

Water should always be in reserve, there is never a lot of it. We used both the water that was collected in the parks (it is clean and suitable for drinking and cooking) and bottled. If you're worried about park water, you can use special cleaners, but I think it's easier to buy water in a store in this case. We carried one large spare canister with us and constantly bought packages with small half-liter bottles (they are convenient to use, and you can always throw them into a small backpack with you).

  • Plate or gas-burner

Are you planning to cook yourself? You will have to purchase a compact gas stove or burner. Yes, all organized campsites have a place for a fire and a grill grate where you can cook, but making a fire every time you just want to boil water or quickly cook pasta is inconvenient to say the least.

We bought a gas burner, or rather two. At first we bought a small one, but it turned out that it was not the most convenient, because the flame "hit right on target", a small spot in the center of the pan, not heating the bottom evenly. Later we purchased a large burner, which turned out to be too large for our saucepans)) We never found our ideal option.

For burners, you will need gas cylinders with a mixture of butane and propane. It is better to buy immediately with a margin, because in some places they could not be found in stores. Bought mostly from Walmart.

Prices: small burner - $11, large burner - $8, small gas bottle - $5, large - $10.

  • GPS And car navigator

GPS is a faithful assistant in any journey. We have been using the Garmin Oregon 450 navigator for a year now and have no idea how we can navigate without it. It is thanks to this faithful friend that we can go anywhere and not be afraid that we will get lost. We use it for walking.

For a comfortable car ride, it is desirable to have a car navigator with a large screen, otherwise it will be difficult to drive in a foreign country. If you rent a car at a rental office, then, most likely, the navigator will be attached to it.

  • Compass

We did not take a compass as unnecessary, but if you are going to climb into some distant distances and are not equipped with a navigator, take it. Would it come in handy? For example, there are not so many trees in Death Valley, especially with moss, by which you can determine the cardinal points))

  • Guide

A guidebook is a good and useful thing not only while preparing for a trip, but during it. You can always peep technical information: how to get there, work schedule, where to spend the night, etc. As usual, some of the best guides - Lonely Planet. This and other Russian-language guides can be bought, for example, or.

First Aid

  • first aid kit

It is not necessary to take a full set of medicines with sleeping pills and motion sickness medications with you on hikes, but it’s better to always have hydrogen peroxide, bandages and something for pain at hand, that is, at the bottom of a small backpack. Little whether that? “Fell, woke up, plaster…”

It is also better to grab a patch, especially if you bought new sandals or sneakers before the trip.

I have a raincoat in the photo. And what? Quite a first aid in the rain))

A first aid kit is a first aid kit, but before the trip it doesn’t hurt to take out travel insurance, you never know. Medicines and medical services in the States are oh so expensive, it’s better not to save a few thousand rubles.

You can choose insurance using this convenient form:

protective equipment

  • Sunscreen/spray

used creams banana boat, brought back from Mexico, then bought in the States the spray of the same name for 8 bucks. By the way, it protects well from the sun and is pleasant to use.

  • Repellent for mosquitoes and other midges

Mosquitoes hardly bothered us, with rare exceptions. The spray was used on the strength of a couple of times.

  • Sunglasses

Even if you do not like this accessory, it is better to wear it, because glasses protect your eyes not only from the sun, but also from dust. In any supermarket you can buy tolerable glasses for 10-20 dollars.

  • Lip balm

Even Andriusiks used my lip balm, because when you walk all day long under the scorching sun, your lips, like your skin, burn without protection. Most unpleasant sensations!

  • Hat/Panama/Bandana

Without a headdress, it’s generally better not to stick out in the parks. Earning heatstroke is easy!

I note that in some parks in souvenir shops they sell the cutest hats (about $ 30). I just bought one of these at the Dead Horse Park Visitor Center.

Additional useful things

  • Personal items(everyone will figure it out for himself, as well as with clothes)

Most importantly, do not forget warm clothes: if possible, grab not only a jacket / fleece, but also a light jacket. Warm socks are also very useful. It gets very cold in the mornings and evenings (Yosemite, Bryce Canyon, Sequoia).

  • Towel
  • Toothbrush and paste
  • Toilet paper
  • Personal hygiene items

All sorts of wet wipes, antibacterial liquids will come in handy, because, firstly, not all campsites have water, and secondly, these things are convenient to use directly on a hike.
