Editorial response

All passengers on domestic flights are subject to passport control and security control. After the screening, passengers wait for departure in a specially designated area. Passengers on international flights have to undergo more thorough screening. They go through customs, security and passport control. To pass all types of control at the airport, passengers of international flights must arrive at least two and a half hours before the departure time of the aircraft indicated on the ticket, and passengers of domestic flights - an hour and a half before the departure of the aircraft.

check-in

Arriving at the airport, passengers check in for the flight and receive a boarding pass, which contains:

  • date of,
  • time,
  • flight number,
  • boarding gate number
  • seat in a plane.

The number of the counter at which check-in takes place is indicated on the electronic scoreboard in the departure hall.

You can also register online from your home or office. This registration starts 24 hours before. You yourself choose a seat convenient for you in the cabin and print out your boarding pass yourself. Upon arrival at the airport, the passenger does not need to contact the check-in desk if he is flying without luggage.

Mobile check-in is also available to passengers. To pass it, just go to the airline's website from your mobile phone and indicate the number of the electronic ticket (or the name of the passenger and the flight number). The system itself will find the desired flight and prompt you to choose a seat in the cabin. After that, an SMS message containing a unique barcode will be sent to the mobile phone. To get a boarding pass, you need to attach the screen of a cell phone with a barcode on the display to special equipment located in the check-in hall.

A paper boarding pass is required to proceed to the boarding gate.

Baggage clearance

At the check-in desk, each passenger can check in their luggage. Baggage will not be checked in to the final destination if the passenger is flying on different airlines with different tickets. In this case, you need to re-register at the intermediate point.

hand luggage

You can take items in hand luggage only of a certain size and weight. In economy class, up to 10 kg is allowed, in business - 15 kg. Baggage size must not exceed 115 cm in three dimensions (55×40×20). Low-cost carriers have different requirements for hand luggage, you can find them on the carrier's website.

It is forbidden to transport piercing objects, liquids exceeding 100 ml in volume, radioactive, explosive, flammable substances in hand luggage. The list of prohibited items for transportation in hand luggage is best checked in advance with your airline representative.

In excess of the established norm, in addition to the allowed baggage, passengers are allowed to take into the cabin of the aircraft:

  • laptop,
  • bouquet of flowers,
  • camcorder, camera,
  • umbrella,
  • baby portable cradle
  • cane,
  • diapers and baby food,
  • documentation,
  • reading book,
  • outerwear,
  • cell phone,
  • crutches, stretchers or a wheelchair when transporting a passenger with reduced mobility,
  • bag with purchases from the Duty Free store.

These items are not presented for weighing and are not issued during registration.

The weight allowance for free baggage allowance in the cargo hold of an aircraft is limited. Usually it is about 20 kg for an economy class passenger and about 30 for those traveling in business class. Approximately 3 euros will have to be paid for each kilogram in excess of the established norm. To ensure that your bags and suitcases are handled especially carefully, you can ask the airport employee for a sticker on the suitcase at check-in.

Such - fragile - things can be transported in the cabin as hand luggage. But at the same time, it is necessary to comply with the established limit on weight and dimensions. If you want to transport fragile baggage weighing up to 75 kg, for example musical instruments, then you need to purchase a separate ticket for one seat. If the total weight exceeds 75 kg, such baggage is carried on two or more seats, and this will require the required number of air tickets. No discounts are given.

Checked baggage

Usually, in the baggage that you will check in, you can carry any items except dangerous:

  • drugs,
  • explosives, etc. (according to international classification).

A special permit must be issued for weapons.

Overweight baggage

The passenger is obliged to pay for the carriage of baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance, at the established rate in force on the day of carriage, for the entire carriage to the destination. In order not to overpay for baggage, you need to check the baggage allowance on the airline's website in advance. It is better to pay for excess baggage online, the cost of paying for excess baggage at the airport is much higher, on average 20 euros per 1 kg.

It should be borne in mind that the excess of the norms is also limited, even with a surcharge. Excess baggage must not exceed:

  • for economy class passengers - 32 kg and 203 cm,
  • for business class passengers - 50 kg and 203 cm.

Pre-flight screening of passengers (security control)

When passing through security control, you must present a ticket, a boarding pass and a document proving the identity of the passenger.

During the pre-flight screening, the passenger is requested to provide for verification with the help of technical means of screening (introscope):

  • outerwear,
  • shoes,
  • items containing metal (belts, keys, cigarettes, cigarette cases, etc.).

The passenger himself must pass through the frame of a stationary metal detector.

Passengers with implanted devices that stimulate cardiac activity are subjected to personal (individual) inspection without the use of technical means.

Passengers who, for health reasons (handicapped, with limited physical abilities, etc.) cannot undergo pre-flight screening procedures on a general basis, undergo pre-flight screening at the airport medical center.

Some passengers may also be checked individually. Such inspection is carried out only:

  • according to the decision of the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,
  • by decision of the aviation security services of the airport,
  • persons of the same sex as the passenger being inspected,
  • in the presence of two witnesses,
  • with the participation of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in transport,
  • with mandatory protocol.

customs control

Customs control includes inspection of personal luggage and belongings. The currency that you have with you in the form of cash is subject to declaration (oral or written). It all depends on the amount of currency. Import to the Russian Federation and export from Russia of foreign currency in cash by individuals (residents and non-residents) is carried out without restrictions. Cash foreign currency is subject to mandatory declaration if its amount exceeds the equivalent of 10,000 euros.

If you have goods in your baggage, for which the export or import of which an additional duty is paid in case of exceeding the amount of duty-free import, you will have to leave them or pay a fee. Such goods include cigarettes, coffee, wine, tobacco products, spirits, perfumes.

In case of suspicion of the presence of dangerous objects and substances in the passenger's belongings, a manual search of the passenger's belongings may be carried out. Passenger, who during the inspection found dangerous substances and objects:

  • weapon,
  • ammunition,
  • explosives,
  • explosives,
  • explosive devices,
  • narcotic,
  • poisonous,
  • poisonous,
  • radioactive substances,

not allowed to fly. The act drawn up at the same time and the seized substances or objects are transferred to the internal affairs bodies to resolve the issue of bringing the passenger to criminal liability.

Passport control

After passing through customs control, passengers go through passport control. If you are making a domestic flight, then you need to present an identity document of a citizen of the Russian Federation (passport, diplomatic passport, international passport, military ID, sailor's passport (sailor's identity card)). If the flight is international, you need to present your passport.

When leaving the Russian Federation, employees of the border control department only check the legality of the passenger's stay on the territory of the Russian Federation and do not control the citizen's right to enter another country. In accordance with Art. 6 of the Federal Law "On the Procedure for Departure from the Russian Federation and Entry into the Russian Federation", the obligation to control the availability of a visa and the validity of the documents required for entry into the country of destination is assigned to the air carrier. Documents can be checked by an authorized representative of the airline during check-in or directly during boarding.

When entering and leaving Russia, foreign citizens are required to present valid (according to the validity period) documents issued by the authorized bodies, proving their identity and recognized by the Russian Federation, and a Russian visa.

If a child under the age of thirteen is traveling with you, you must show the border guards his birth certificate, and in the case of his independent flight or flight with one of the parents, consent to leave.

Before any trip abroad, you need to find out how customs control at the airport passes without problems. An inexperienced traveler can get confused and wander around the terminal, not knowing where and when to turn. But even if there is an assistant who can point you in the right direction, it is still better to prepare in advance for such checks.

It is known that you should arrive at the airport much earlier than the departure takes place. Two to three hours is enough to go through all the stages of registration and control. And so that there are no unforeseen circumstances and problems when taking out luggage, you should first find out all the nuances of the inspection.

Airport procedures

Depending on the specific city and hall, the scheme and sequence of actions may differ, but the main stages of checks remain the same:

  1. Ticket check-in, boarding pass.
  2. Checking in luggage in a special compartment if the suitcases do not fall under the rules of hand luggage.
  3. Security control.
  4. Customs.
  5. Checking passport data and other documents.

And if all procedures are mandatory in any case, then customs control must be passed only when crossing the border, that is, when traveling to another country. In order not to look for the desired zone at the airport, it is better to navigate by the electronic scoreboard, which necessarily displays the number of the check-in counter.

You can also ask the airline employee who issues the boarding pass where you should go next. Similarly, the direction to the next stages of control is found with the help of arrows and pointers.

Required documents

In order for a trip abroad to take place, you need to have a ready-made package of papers on hand and present them at the check-in desk, and then when passing through passport control. You will not be allowed if not:

  • a valid international passport;
  • visa, migration card or other documents allowing exit from the country;
  • medical certificates and insurance, sometimes vaccinations are also needed;
  • when traveling with children, be sure to present their birth certificates, as well as permission from parents.

It is important to take into account the entry rules of the individual countries you are traveling to, as well as comply with Russian laws. For example, a person may not be allowed to board an aircraft when flying abroad if there are large unpaid loans, fines, alimony, etc.

Some countries do not allow travelers without vaccinations or additional medical control. It is better to know about such things in advance in order to be able to prepare.

In order to expedite the passage of the check and reduce the waiting time at all airports of the international connection, there are two customs corridors - red and green. This ensures the separation of passengers into two streams.

In order to know which of them to go to for you, you should ask in advance what things are subject to declaration, prohibited from export or import into a certain country, and what is checked at customs. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the rules for passing customs control.

So, the green corridor is intended for the majority of passengers. According to statistics, up to 95% of tourists pass through it when traveling abroad. Those who do not carry any prohibited items can be sent here.

The following are subject to the free baggage allowance rules:

  1. Items for personal use, the total value of which does not exceed $ 2,000.
  2. Cash in the form of cash, securities, etc. - up to 10 thousand dollars.
  3. Jewelry and decorations, but not more than 25 thousand.
  4. Alcohol in an amount up to 3 liters.
  5. No more than 200 cigarettes.

Please note that if you purchased jewelry for yourself in another country and wish to bring it home, you will have to present the relevant permits for this. But even when passing the green corridor and the usual security control, customs officers have the right to ask any passenger who seemed suspicious to them to open the bag, suitcases and undergo a personal search.

Red corridor and declaration

What is customs control and how is its full version carried out? This is a set of precautions. It is the duty of the officers of this service to check the items carried across the border by each passenger in order to ensure that certain prohibitions are not violated. And the red corridor is for those of them who need to fill out a declaration.

airlines-inform.ru

This happens in such cases when the tourist transports:

  • cash in the amount of more than 10 thousand dollars, it does not matter in which currency;
  • various precious metals, stones, jewelry, the total value of which exceeds 25,000 USD. e.;
  • securities, stocks, bonds, etc.;
  • there is also a whole list of items that are prohibited for export - weapons, pyrotechnic materials, ammunition, some food products (fish, caviar), etc.;
  • antiques, objects of art;
  • plants and animals - some of them are transported after a special inspection and in the presence of documents, and, for example, specimens listed in the Red Book are completely prohibited for export;
  • medical preparations - it is allowed to transport only those that a person needs to maintain life, in order to maintain health, but strictly for medical reasons, with a corresponding certificate from a doctor and in limited quantities;
  • various documents and other forms of preservation of information that provides state secrets;
  • narcotic substances, poisonous mixtures, radioactive elements;
  • awards, medals of the Russian Federation, etc.

It is advisable to familiarize yourself with the full list of prohibited and declared items in advance so that there are no difficulties and problems during customs control. After all, in the event of an attempt to take out some items, representatives of the service are obliged not only to seize them, but also to call the police and open an administrative or criminal case.

In order to be able to transport some of these items across the border, according to the rules, you will have to fill out a declaration. The following data is entered into it:

  1. Personal information about the passenger.
  2. Number and age of children traveling with.
  3. List of transported items.
  4. Type of baggage.
  5. The amount of money, securities, etc.

Such a form and an example of filling it out can be found on the airline's website or at the airport. In order not to waste time at customs control and not to delay the queue, it is better to fill out a declaration in advance. They do this in duplicate, so that one of them is left for themselves. It is important not to lose the document, as it must be shown to customs officers when returning back.

Customs control at the airport is one of the procedures that must be completed in addition to the usual screening, passport control and registration. Pass through customs when departing and arriving from the country. This article will describe how to go through customs at the airport.

What is customs control

Customs control - a procedure that is carried out on a par with the inspection of personal belongings, passed by all passengers in order to get into the waiting room. However, if everyone passes the inspection, then it is necessary to go through customs only if the passenger has a certain list of things.

Customs at the airport is carried out for security purposes. It is passed by all those who carry weapons, antiques or large sums of money with them. All these and other similar things must be declared. If the passenger does not have such things, this means that he must go through the so-called green corridor at the airport.

Baggage check

If the passenger still has items to be declared, he passes through the red corridor. There you need to fill out the appropriate piece of paper in two copies. One must be left with you and then presented to the employees of the airport terminal where the passenger arrives.

At customs control, the passenger will need the following necessary documents:

  • passport or ID card;
  • permission to enter the country / visa, if required;
  • Statement of health and vaccinations, if required;
  • declaration form, which can be obtained from the airport terminal employee in advance.

Important! The list of documents may vary depending on the country of departure and arrival. This information must be obtained in advance by calling the reference airline or airfield.

How to pass customs control

The scheme of customs clearance at the airport is quite simple. To pass it, you must follow the instructions:

  1. Check in for your flight, then proceed to customs. There will be a sign at the airport terminal after the border control, which will say "customs" or "customs control".
  2. If there are no things to declare, then you need to follow the green corridor. Most often it is indicated by a green arrow or any other icon and the inscription "nothing to declare". An example can be seen in the picture below, which shows the green corridor of Pulkovo Airport. Then the path lies to the border control and inspection.
  3. If there are things that need to be declared, you need to follow the red corridor, marked with a red arrow at the airport. The scoreboard will say "goods to declare".
  4. It is necessary to show what kind of items the passenger has. After that, an additional check will be carried out and things will need to be declared in writing on a special form. Then you need to go through border control and inspection.
  5. Upon arrival in another country, go through border control again and pick up your luggage. After that, you should go along the green corridor if the declaration is not needed, or along the red corridor if it is necessary. In the second case, you need to show the airport staff a pre-filled declaration form.
  6. After checking, you can safely leave the airport by following the inscription "airport exit".

Note! Each country can set its own rules for the transportation of certain items, so you need to clarify this in advance before departure.

A passenger on an international flight will definitely have to go through customs control at the airport of departure. The main task pursued by border control is to prevent cash, valuables, goods of certain categories restricted for export / import without inspection by customs officers.

Passing customs control is part of the general procedure. In addition to checking by a customs officer, it includes:

  • registration;
  • baggage check-in;
  • security control;
  • verification of passport data.

The sequence of stages may vary depending on the regulations of the terminal. But they are all required if you plan to fly abroad.

Two zones

So that non-passengers do not have to wait in line for a long time and get to the boarding gate faster, everyone is divided into two streams. One for those whose luggage with hand luggage does not require declaration, and the second with the mandatory completion of the declaration and payment of the established fee. This is an accelerated passage of control.

Without payment of duty

The first stream passes through the green corridor. This color allows movement. Passengers who carry duty-free items come here:

  • up to 10 thousand dollars in cash upon import and up to 3 thousand upon export;
  • jewelry with a total value of up to 25 thousand dollars;
  • jewelry of foreign origin with permits;
  • items for personal use, including a block of cigarettes, alcoholic drinks no more than three liters.

Access to the green corridor does not exempt from screening at the airport. The customs inspector may invite a client who is suspicious to be searched. In 2016, up to 95% of all passengers passed through this corridor to board Vnukovo.

Required for declaration

If there are items in the luggage that need to be declared, the passenger goes to the red corridor. This category includes items and things, the import/export of which is legally restricted:

  • cash amounts exceeding those allowed for duty-free transportation;
  • securities, including bank checks and bills of exchange;
  • personal belongings with a total value of more than 10 thousand USD. e. or if their weight is heavier than 50 kg.

The red exit to the customs zone, in addition to declaring, means that luggage and hand luggage are checked for compliance with the declared information and compliance with the established restrictions using a special scanner. In addition to the above restrictions, it is forbidden to export the following products and items from the territory of the Russian Federation:

  • seafood, including fish, more than five kg;
  • sturgeon caviar weighing more than 250 grams;
  • weapons with ammunition or separately and explosive substances without permits;
  • state awards and values that are recognized as the cultural heritage of the country;
  • animals and birds from the Red Book;
  • information with state secrets on media of any type;
  • substances of a narcotic type, poisonous, representing a radioactive hazard.

For more information about the rules for transporting substances and items on international flights, please visit the websites of the airlines or the airport of departure.

Remember that if items prohibited for transportation are found in the luggage of the client, he will not be allowed to fly. In this case, an act of seizure is drawn up, and all materials are transferred to the competent authorities, which decide on initiating an administrative or criminal case.

We fill out the declaration

The declaration looks like a form that contains several sections for entering information about the passenger and the baggage carried. When filling it out, you must specify:

  • personal data;
  • the number of children traveling with the passenger;
  • type of baggage transportation (accompanied, unaccompanied, etc.);
  • cash and securities;
  • list of goods.

The form is filled in by passengers who have reached the age of 16. When a minor departs, information is entered by his legal representatives. All information is entered in block letters in two copies. One is for customs officers, the other must remain with the passenger until the end of the flight.

Set of documents

Part of the question of how to get through customs is a list of required documents. In addition to a general passport, the passenger will need:

  • valid passport;
  • documents confirming the right to enter the country of destination (migration card or visa);
  • in some cases, medical certificates;
  • birth certificate of a minor when flying with children.

The list may vary depending on the specific situation, the conditions of the flight, the composition of the baggage carried.

Not to waste time

The passage of customs control does not require the mandatory filling of a declaration at the airport. The form can be downloaded from the carrier's website and filled out at home. You can also save time and go through the control procedure faster by preparing in advance:

  • clarify the list of items prohibited for flight and the existing restrictions;
  • check things for the presence of such items;
  • remove excess alcohol, cigarettes, other products;
  • calculate the required amount of cash, and put the rest of the money on a bank card.

It is important not to delay leaving home and appear at the check-in desk a few hours before departure.

Control zone

If you are interested in how to go through customs at the airport, find out where the customs zone is located. Clients of Sheremetyevo Airport will not have to wander around the station building. Immediately after entering, you need to go up to the second floor. Most international flights of Sheremetyevo Airport are served in its southern part.

The terminals have been reconstructed, according to the terminal staff. This significantly expanded its throughput and reduced the waiting time at the control stage.

The Vnukovo and Pulkovo airports in St. Petersburg are not the largest, it is not difficult to navigate here. If you have difficulty finding the right terminal, the airport information service will help.
