Sights of Dalat: a tour of the most interesting places in French Vietnam. Vietnam on the world map: detailed location of resorts in Russian Bao Dai Summer Palace

Dalat is popular with tourists due to its unique natural sites. But not only picturesque lakes, waterfalls, beautiful gardens deserve attention. There are also many interesting buildings in the city, which are worth a look even if you only have to spend 1 day here.

The atmosphere of Dalat is noticeably different from other cities in Vietnam. The city of love and eternal spring is what the locals call it. Here, the buildings are so in harmony with nature that it is sometimes difficult to understand what was created by the hands of modern man, and what was inherited from the ancestors.

Local travel agencies offer to purchase tour packages to the most remarkable corners of Dalat and its environs. Most often, tours are designed for 1-3 days. If you want to know what you can see in Dalat on your own in 1-2 days, then this article and a map with marked points will be a useful guide.

The only inconvenience that single tourists may encounter is the remoteness of the main attractions from the city center. In order to get there, you will have to:

  1. use the services of a local taxi;
  2. use the services of a motorcycle taxi. The owner of the bike will also be a guide;
  3. rent a car or bike.

We took a small green taxi. The smaller the car, the cheaper. In one day, we managed to go around 7 places. The price came out - 1,100,000 dong or $ 49. On the second day we visited 2 more places. We ordered a taxi by phone using an SMS message in English. It entered all the points that they wanted to bypass. Indicate the address of the hotel and the time of departure. Early in the morning the taxi driver arrived without delay.

Before leaving, we immediately discussed the cost of the trip. We agreed on 800,000 VND. But according to the counter they hit 1,500,000 VND. The driver was very modest and could not ask for more than the agreed amount. We decided to pay him another 300,000 VND.

Here is a list of interesting places that we visited on our own in 2 days and we boldly advise you to include them in your itinerary while traveling around Dalat. If you still don't know what to visit in Dalat, our list will help you make your choice.

  • The points are placed in the same order as we visited them.

Pongour Falls -

We decided to see the sights from the farthest point. We drove to the waterfall without stopping, and on the way back we stopped at other places.

Many call the Pongour Falls the largest in Vietnam. Like it or not, it is difficult to judge. After all, its height is only 30 m. But the waterfall cascades down the wide steps. The sight is mesmerizing. It is revealed in all its glory during the rainy season, i.Π΅. in the middle of summer. At this time, all the rivers overflow due to excess rainfall.

Even if you came to Dalat for only 1 day, feel free to include this place in your program. This is the best waterfall in the area.

Entrance - 10,000 VND (0.5$)

Road to the waterfall

Elephant Waterfall is very powerful. The water here rushes down with a deafening rumble to spray all those who came to admire the charms of the water element.

But before enjoying this view, you will need to go down a rather dangerous descent. We did not dare to go there with the children. They sent only my husband.

Entrance - 20,000 VND ($1)

Vietnam is as famous for coffee production as Brazil. Traveling through the suburbs of Dalat, every vacationer can stop and inspect the huge coffee plantations. It's not often in life that you get the chance to see fragrant grains grow. Those travelers who come to Vietnam during the flowering period of coffee trees will be especially lucky. A real miracle is to see delicate white flowers with a magical aroma reminiscent of the smell of jasmine. On almost every farm, you can try a freshly brewed drink and buy coffee beans to go.

Entrance is free.

Prenn Falls -

This is not the largest waterfall in the vicinity of Dalat. Nevertheless, when traveling around Vietnam, you should definitely visit the most beautiful corner ten kilometers from the city. Water falls from a stone cliff into the lake. This is one of the favorite places for photography enthusiasts. Walking along the bamboo bridge, you can capture a lot of interesting shots.

Around the waterfall is a magnificent park full of exotic plants. At every step there are flower beds with amazing flowers, many gazebos, galleries, cafes. To feel the unity with nature and enjoy the sounds of water, the singing of birds, it is better to come here early in the morning. At this time, there is still no such influx of people as by noon. At this time, enterprising Vietnamese are already luring guests with might and main with an offer to ride an ostrich or an elephant.

"Elephant" business in Dalat is not uncommon. Currently, animals are used only in tourism. Although not so long ago they performed work on the transportation of goods or logging.

Walks in the park are available to tourists daily until 17:00.

Datanla Park -

Datanla Park and Waterfall are popular with tourists as they are located near the city. The waterfall is relatively small. Its length is just over 300 meters. However, a walk through the picturesque groves with outlandish plants will give a lot of pleasure.

Many tourists come here just to ride the famous attraction. Right from the beginning of the park to the foot of the waterfall you can get on the "Vietnamese slides". The electric sleigh ticket is sold at the box office at the entrance. The price for a sled is 2.3 dollars (or 50,000 VND) round trip.

Adult ticket - 30,000 VND ($1.5)

Child ticket β€” 15,000 VND ($0.75)

Buddhist complex Chuk Lam β€”

Chuk Lam is a functioning monastery, which is located in the mountains south of Dalat at an altitude of 1.5 kilometers. The complex was founded in 1994 with the aim of reviving the religious school, which was founded by King Tran Nhan Tong.

You can get to the place by cable car, taxi or motorbike.

The architectural project belongs to the Vietnamese Ngo Viet Thu and Nyun Ngoc An. During the construction process, the building was supplemented with massive gates and a bell tower, which were absent in the original version.

Currently, there are two monasteries, a Buddhist school, and several temples. There is even a small hotel for pilgrims on the territory.

On the territory of the temple, we felt extraordinary harmony and peace.

Entrance is free.

Crazy House -

Yes, yes, in the very heart of the city there is a real madhouse. So the Vietnamese call the hotel bizarre shape. This is a tree-shaped building. Hang Nga, as it is also called, is full of architectural surprises. The architect of the Crazy House is Dang Viet Nga, the daughter of the party leader of the country. The author in her work tried to completely get away from the stereotypes inherent in classical buildings.

The hotel is made in an abstract style. The buildings resemble the silhouettes of various animals, and the whole building seems to be housed in a huge hollow. The appearance of the hotel is difficult to describe in words. To plunge into the fantastic atmosphere of "Crazy House" you need to see everything with your own eyes.

It is worth noting that this is not the only work of the architect in Dalat. You can get acquainted with her work by visiting the Catholic Church or the Palace of Culture.

Adult ticket - 40,000 VND ($1.8)

Child ticket - 20,000 VND (0.9$)

Temple of the Golden Buddha Thien Vien Van Hanh Da Lat

The majestic Buddha statue is visible from almost every corner of Dalat. It is 24 meters high and weighs over a ton. The statue was built in 2002 on one of the highest places in the city. Since then, not a single tourist leaves the city without admiring the majestic Buddha sitting on a huge lotus.

Shakyamuni holds another lotus in his hand. According to legend, once the Buddha, speaking to the people on the Sacred Mountain, showed a flower and watched the faces of the listeners. Then only one of those present smiled sincerely, looking at the beautiful plant. It was this person who was rewarded with the fact that the Buddha passed on his knowledge to him. Next to the statue is a Buddhist temple. Here you can also buy souvenirs with local symbols and small copies of the sights made of bronze.

Flower Garden - Dalat Flower Park

Dalat flower gardens were established in the late 60s of the last century. But during the Vietnam War, they fell into such a deplorable state that they had to be reconstructed almost from scratch. Today, about a thousand of the most diverse flowers grow on a vast territory. Roses, gerberas, hydrangeas of a wide variety of colors are planted in the form of fancy patterns and paths. The gates of the garden are made in the form of several arches, each of which is decorated with thousands of flowers. Throughout the territory, flower sculptures in the form of animals, various objects and fairy-tale characters are made.

The collection of orchids deserves special attention. There are a huge number of them here. In addition to the usual unpretentious varieties, in Dalat Park you can find the rarest species that are very difficult to grow in artificial conditions. For such capricious species, special pavilions have been built, where gardeners recreate familiar natural conditions for plants.

Flower Park is a favorite place for Vietnamese needlewomen. Women of different ages come here not only for another portion of inspiration, but also put up for sale their works. Tourists have a wonderful chance to return to their homeland with a memorable handmade souvenir.

How do I save money on hotels while traveling?

I choose the appropriate option through the search aggregator. Love this one - Hotellook. He searches for hotels on several sites at once (including booking.com and agoda.ru). In the end, I choose the best offer.

Dalat railway station was considered one of the most beautiful in Indochina. It was built in 1938 by a French architect. An old railway connected Dalat with the town of Thap Cham (84 km), but during the war the railway was damaged and closed. In 1991, part of the railway was restored - about 7 km. Now a retro tourist train runs along this stretch of the road, which connects Dalat with the village of Trai Mat. This village is home to the beautiful Linh Phuoc Pagoda.

There is an old steam locomotive on the platform, and in one of the old cars there is a cafe where you can drink a cup of delicious Vietnamese coffee.

Tourist train schedule from Dalat: 7:45, 9:50, 11:55, 14:00, 16:05. Travel time is 30 minutes one way and 30 minutes the train waits for passengers in the village while they inspect the pagoda.

8. Central Wound Dalat (Da Lat market)

The central market can be called another colorful attraction of Dalat. The market is large, trade has unfolded both in the building and on the streets adjacent to it. It is near the market that the whole tourist life of the city is in full swing. In the evening, several streets near the market become pedestrian, and a large evening market with food and souvenirs unfolds along them. Sort of in Vietnamese πŸ™‚

Even if you don’t plan to buy anything at the market, still look at the central market to feel the atmosphere of Dalat, or maybe you can’t resist candied berries and local wine, or strawberries and mulberries and buy a lot of Dalat β€œsweets” πŸ™‚

3. Datanla Waterfall

A very beautiful three-level waterfall just 5.5 km from Dalat. A popular place for both Russian-speaking and Vietnamese tourists. But for some reason, all the tourists crowd near the first level of the waterfall, few people know that you can go lower - first in the cable car cabin, and then on the elevator (yes, on the elevator in the jungle!) And see the second and third levels of the Datanla waterfall almost completely alone.

Working hours: 7:00 – 17:00.

Flower Garden (Dalat Flower Park)

A huge park in the city of Dalat, you can get here both on foot and by taxi (from the city center about 40-50 thousand VND). This botanical park was founded by the French colonizers in 1966. There are no plants here!

On the territory there are also greenhouses where you can buy your favorite specimens. By the way, only in one city of Vietnam - Dalat, you can buy bulbs of all kinds of orchids (you can take them home in your luggage), in other cities only sprouts of these unusual flowers are sold, which Russian customs prohibits from importing into the Russian Federation.

Lin Shong Pagoda (in the center of Dalat)

A small pagoda located directly in the city, so you can even visit it on foot. The pagoda itself is unremarkable, inside there is a statue of Buddha, there is a bell. But its territory is beautiful, there are many sculptures, a quiet garden and a view from the hill to the streets.

Prenn park and waterfalls

The second most popular (after the park with electric sleigh and cable car) place to visit in Dalat. The park is famous not only for its waterfall (which, by the way, is very modest), but also for riding elephants and ostriches. The park is beautiful and big, it's nice to walk here. And you can also dress up in national costumes for a fee and take pictures against the backdrop of beautiful nature, which we did.

Entrance to Prenn Park is worth 30,000 VND ($1.3).

Datanla Park and Waterfalls (cable car and electric sleigh)

Datanla Park and Waterfalls are only 5.5 km from Da Lat. The park is famous for its electric sledges (like on) and the cable car. This is a must visit place for absolutely all tourists who come to Dalat, so there are always crowds of people here. Read a more detailed story about our visit to Datanla Park.

The most beautiful and unusual waterfall in the vicinity of Dalat! And the most beautiful waterfall we have ever seen. Of course, we visited it at a good time and it was full of water. In the dry season, the impression of it can be spoiled.
The waterfall is located far away, 50 km from the city, but it is worth a visit!

For a more detailed story about the Pongur waterfall and the rest of the photos and map, see.

Linh Phuoc Pagoda

The pagoda is famous for the fact that many different fragments were used to decorate it. In the main building (bell tower of 7 floors), you can climb to the top floor and see the surroundings of Dalat from a height:

How to get to Linh Phuoc Pagoda from Dalat on the map:

Truc Lam Pagoda

It is located near the Datanla waterfalls, so it makes sense to combine a visit to these Dalat attractions. Entrance to the territory is free.
This pagoda amazed us with its pacification. Here you want to sit on a parapet and spend several hours in contemplation. The atmosphere is complemented by wind chimes hung on all trees and buildings.

It is an attractive country in terms of tourism. There is also a coast, with resorts that allow you to enjoy warm sea waves and good weather almost throughout the year, and many attractions that allow you to create an exciting excursion program.

Where is it located and what sea is it washed by?

Territorially Vietnam applies to Southeast Asia and is located on the Indochina peninsula. In the West, the country borders with Cambodia and Laos, in the North with China.

The Vietnamese coast stretches along the eastern and southern parts of the country and is washed by the South China Sea, the Gulf of Thailand and the Gulf of Tonkin.

Phan Thiet and Mui Ne

These resorts are located in the south of the country and specialized in beach holidays. At the same time, in Mui Ne, Russian-speaking tourists, as a rule, feel more comfortable, since the Russian diaspora has settled there, many representatives of the Russian-speaking population have their own business, there are many signs in Russian on the streets.

Nha Trang

This resort is one of the most popular and at the same time, like Mui Ne, it is filled with a significant amount of Russian-language service. Many Russians have their own restaurants, tour agencies and other companies that work in the field of tourism and recreation here.

Nha Trang offers opportunities for a wide variety of recreation. Wellness services are developed here, but there are also many entertainments, including the famous Vietnamese diving.

Dalat

Is mountain resort located in the central part of Vietnam. Both Vietnamese and foreigners rest here. Moreover, the resort has a certain claim to elitism:

  • many golf courses;
  • cozy parks and forests;
  • boat trips.

Dalat has magnificent nature, many waterfalls and coniferous forests. Excellent conditions for a measured rest.

Phu Quoc and other islands

Phu Quoc- a magnificent resort island, where a large safari park has recently been created. In addition, there are many entertainments and a great beach holiday.

Con Dao Island- a relatively new tourist destination, but worthy of attention. There is great ecotourism. In addition to the magnificent beaches, Con Dao offers:

  • reserve;
  • fishing;
  • watching exotic animals.

If you happen to be near Halong Bay, you can treat yourself to visits to the islands Cat Ba and Tuan Chau. They offer wellness services and entertainment combined with a beach holiday.

mountain resorts

These resorts should be noted due to the presence of mineral springs there.

There are many healthy sources of mineral water in Vietnam, but there are relatively few resorts nearby.

Of course, the weather there is not ideal for recreation all year round, but here the conditions for useful recreation are quite optimal.

Not far from Hanoi is Ba Wee resort with a national park. There you can enjoy:

  • mud baths;
  • bathing in hot water;
  • healing sessions of traditional medicine.

Not far from Ho Chi Minh City is the city of Vung Tau, which includes Binh Chau Resort. The resort is actively developing, offering hot mineral springs and quality service.

Beaches and coast

Beaches in the south countries are suitable for resort holidays for almost a whole year. In autumn, the rainy season begins there, but warm days are still observed.

Most resorts have access to the sea with a water temperature of at least twenty degrees, which means you can always swim.

North less favorable in terms of weather in winter. It really gets cold there (by Vietnamese standards) and swimming in the winter is not possible.

Landmarks of the country

Authentic Vietnam is not only a resort holiday, but also an abundance.

In this country, there are many territories where the buildings of ancient civilizations and many natural beauties remain.

Besides It should be noted remnants of the colonial era, many houses in Vietnam are from the era when the French ruled the country.

For people from northern countries, the attraction is exotic entertainment:

  1. reserves with crocodiles and other rare animals;
  2. elephant riding;
  3. National parks;
  4. fishing;
  5. snake restaurants.

There are absolutely original tours such as visiting guerrilla tunnels left over from the Vietnam War. Halong Bay is considered one of the most beautiful spaces on the planet.

Hanoi abounds architectural structures of different times: from the era of the development of Buddhism, to the grandiose buildings of the communist era. Danang attracts Marble mountains and pagodas. The famous statue of the Reclining Buddha tourists can watch in Phan Thiet.

In general, a lot of attractions are concentrated in a relatively small territory of Vietnam.

Regardless of which part of the country you go to, you can make an interesting cultural program for yourself.

International airports

Now the territory of the country includes nine international airports, but only up to four have regular flights from Russia. the largest is Tan Son Nhat, which is located in Ho Chi Minh City. Not far from the capital(45 kilometers from Hanoi) is Noi Bai Airport, which attracts tourists with architecture in the style of a classic Vietnamese pagoda.

If you need to fly to Dalang, then there is its own airport, three kilometers from the city. In the province of Khanh Hoa, Cam Ranh is used, which is located in Nha Trang.

Tourists who are interested in resort holidays, most often used Tan Son Nhat Airport, which is closer than others to popular resorts. In the future, this airport will be used for domestic flights, and the "resorts" will be served by Long Thanh Airport.

Three points on the map of Vietnam (Nha Trang-Dalat-Muine) that will be of interest to any tourist and traveler:

Dalat is a city of a thousand flowers, eternal love, beautiful waterfalls and crazy houses. The place was once chosen by the French colonialists, who, fleeing the southern heat, moved higher and higher into the mountains. People come here to admire coniferous forests and unusual monasteries, get lost in flower parks and unusual labyrinths, eat strawberries and touch the local culture. If you are going to Dalat and are looking for something to see in 2 days, then this publication will come in handy.

How to navigate

Despite the fact that Dalat is a small city, its sights are at a decent distance from each other, and some are even outside of it. Therefore, for the convenience of moving between the sights of Dalat, it is better to rent a moped or hire a driver for the whole day.

The cost of renting a moped is approximately 120,000 VND (Β±5$) per day, and you can rent it on almost every corner, even in guesthouses or small hotels. But keep in mind that almost all attractions will have to pay for parking 2000 - 5000 VND.

If you are not considering a two-wheeled mode of transport, then you can find a driver and arrange with him to take you all day to the places you want to visit. The price will vary from 700,000 VND (Β±30$), depending on the route.

Well, remember that for short trips, you can use the Grab application (similar to Uber); in fact, we used it to get from the Dalat bus station to the guesthouse, where we immediately rented a bike.

The sights of Dalat are written in the order in which we visited them in 2 days.

What to see in Dalat in 1 day

Valley of Love

Cost of visiting: 100,000 VND. Parking: VND 3,000.

Dalat Railway Station

Despite the fact that the station no longer performs its primary function, this place is a magnet for tourists. The railway station was built by the French in 1932 and was considered the most beautiful in all of Indochina. Now people come here to admire the locomotives of the last century and take a photo against the backdrop of the main building of the station. From here you can take a tourist retro train and get to the village of Traimat, where the bottle pagoda is located.

The train departs 5 times a day: at 7.45, 9.50, 11.55, 14.00 and 16.05. The journey to Traimat is 30 minutes.

The cost of visiting the railway station: 10,000 VND. Fare on the old train: VND 120,000. Parking near the railway station: VND 3,000.

Wan Han Pagoda and Golden Buddha Statue

Another duty attraction, which is visited, as a rule, along the way. The height of the statue is 24 meters, in his right hand the Buddha holds a lotus flower. Near the pagoda, you can find a statue of a reclining Buddha, as well as sculptures of dragons and various mythical creatures. On the territory of the temple there is a sculptural workshop, where statues of various shapes are cast from concrete. You can also make a donation here. At the same time, in honor of people who have made large donations, marble benches are made, on which the name and city of the person who has shown generosity are engraved. There are the most Russian names and cities here.

Lake Xuan Huong (Xuan Huong lake)

The lake, formed by the construction of a dam in 1919, serves more as a guide that you are somewhere near the central part of Dalat. The lake is nothing special, but in the evening you can walk around or rent a swan and ride on the lake itself, the rental price will be 70,000 VND.

Bar 100 roofs (100 Roofs Cafe) or Maze bar (ex. Duong Len Trang)

Why is a bar on the list of attractions in Dalat? Because this is really a cool attraction that you will not find anywhere else in the world. You will meet the Buddha statue and waterfalls, but there is definitely no such bar. The bar occupies a huge area and consists of many labyrinths that are intertwined. It is better to come here in the evening when electronic music is playing.

What to see in Dalat for the 2nd day

Dalat flower garden

A large botanical garden in the center of Dalat, divided into several thematic sectors, over which the florists masterfully worked, creating entire works of art in the form of lush flower beds and flower sculptures. Here you will find a huge bottle from the French province of Bordeaux, a Dutch windmill, Mexican cacti and many other flower arrangements. This is a great place for leisurely romantic walks without leaving the center of Dalat.

Cost of visiting: 40,000 VND. There is paid parking.

Linh Phuoc Pagoda

Admission is free, but parking is paid. In principle, if you do not drive 150-200 meters to the pagoda, then you can leave the bike for free.

Truc Lam Monastery and cable car (Truc Lam Dalat)

A functioning Buddhist monastery located in the highlands, surrounded by a lake and pine forests. Great place to heal your nerves. The best way to get to the monastery is by cable car, but there is also a transport access.

By the way, if you came to Dalat by bus, then keep in mind that the cable car is located near (10 minutes walk) from the Dalat bus station, so if you arrived light and not tired from the trip, you can immediately start sightseeing from the monastery.

The visit is free. Paid parking nearby.

Crazy House (Hang Nga Guesthouse)

Crazy House is perhaps the main visiting card of Dalat from the general list of attractions. It is both a hotel and a tourist attraction. Each excursion program necessarily includes a visit to this place. And no wonder, because the lunatic asylum in Dalat is one of the ten strangest buildings in the world. In addition, many TV shows with a travel theme constantly include this place in their stories.

Cost of visiting: 10,000 VND. Parking fee: VND 5,000.

Datanla waterfall

The cost of visiting, descent and ascent on an electric sleigh: 150,000 VND.

How long does it take to get to Dalat?

Of course, you need to go to Dalat with an overnight stay, preferably for several days, one day is not enough here. The best option would be the initial stop here in order to transfer the acclimatization as comfortably as possible. If you have been to Bali, you can compare this combination with Ubud. Many Russian tour operators make combined tours Nha Trang + Phan Thiet, but it seems to me that they are missing the opportunity to make a unique program: Nha Trang + Dalat + Phan Thiet. Just take a look at the map and you will immediately understand how this route fits perfectly.

I wish everyone to plunge headlong into this charming city.
