Where in the Moscow region you can swim for free, but safely. Beaches of the Moscow region - where to relax on the water on the weekend? Where to relax and swim

The area of Moscow's water bodies is more than 3 thousand hectares, more than 140 rivers and streams flow through the capital's territory, and more than 400 lakes and ponds of natural and artificial origin can be counted on the city map.

The main river arteries of Moscow are the Moskva, Setun, Yauza, Skhodnya, Gorodnya rivers. 33 large tributaries with a length of more than 25 km depart from the Moscow River. These are the small rivers Yauza, Setun and Skhodnya, starting in the Moscow region.

Over the past 20 years, the quality of water in Moscow’s water bodies has been gradually deteriorating. This is due to the development of environmental areas and the deterioration of the general environmental situation in the city. Another important reason is that the ratio of wastewater and natural reservoirs in Moscow is 1:2, which means that city rivers consist more of wastewater. And even cleaning them doesn't help them be environmentally friendly. The water quality of the Moscow River leaves much to be desired, since the content of zinc and heavy metals in its water exceeds permissible standards.

Swimming in the Moscow River is not recommended. Despite this, the rivers, streams, ponds and lakes of Moscow remain very picturesque, they are navigable: tourist boats, boats, boats and river trams ply along the rivers and reservoirs. Motor ships begin their journey from the Novospassky Bridge and sail to the Kievsky Station.

Fans of sunbathing and swimming need to remember that most rivers, lakes, ponds and reservoirs within Moscow are used only for recreation on the shore. The number of city places where swimming is officially permitted varies between 8-10 recreation areas. The situation with lakes in the Moscow region is much better; a much larger number of them are included in the list of suitable for swimming.

Summer holidays for many are associated with the sea. However, if it is not possible to leave the city and go to a seaside resort, then you can find a worthy replacement within the city. For example, on the shore of one of the reservoirs in the Moscow region, have a picnic and swim. Before you go there, it is worth remembering that a good beach must be equipped with everything necessary and meet all safety standards. So, what beaches in the suburbs of Moscow are suitable for swimming and relaxing by the water?

Not all beaches in the Moscow region are equally safe for swimming. They are divided into civilizational, abandoned, but meeting the requirements and unsuitable for swimming. The first option is different in that the owner is responsible for the beach shore, who improves the place with changing rooms, sun loungers, canopies, toilets, parking, catering, etc. And also on such beaches, the territory and the reservoir itself are regularly cleaned. In such places there are often grounds for sports games, summer cafes, playgrounds, water transport rental, etc. It is logical that for such comfortable recreational conditions, beach visitors have to pay an entrance fee. More than fifty civilizational beaches open annually in the Moscow region.

If you don’t want to pay for a vacation on a pond, you can go to a nice sandy wild beach. Unlike civilized ones, such beaches most often do not have an administration, and, therefore, no one guarantees the safety of spending time. In such places it can be quite dangerous, firstly, because of the potentially polluted water, and secondly, because of the unpredictable underwater current, which not everyone can cope with. It is also worth noting that such beaches have much fewer visitors, which can be both an advantage and a disadvantage.

One of the varieties of wild beaches are beaches where there is a recreation area, a descent into the water, but swimming is prohibited, as indicated by special signs. Swimming in such bodies of water can be dangerous to life and health for various reasons, so spending time on such beaches should be limited solely to staying on land.

Determining Beach Safety

Before opening the beach to the public, it is inspected by the Rospotrebnadzor commission and rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Such a check should be carried out 2 times a year: in April, as soon as the ice melts, and in mid-late May, before the swimming season begins. If the commission finds violations that make recreation on a particular beach unsafe, the administration of the site is issued an order to stop them. If all violations are corrected, then visiting this beach is officially permitted. And in the middle of the first month of summer, lists of beaches in the Moscow region that are safe for swimming will be published.

The quality of swimming places in the suburbs of Moscow is determined depending on several significant regulatory characteristics. First of all, the territory is examined for security items, i.e. both on the sand and at the bottom of the reservoir there should be no objects or substances that could harm the swimmer. Water must comply with accepted sanitary and hygienic standards, which means that the amount of harmful microorganisms in the water must be within acceptable limits so as not to cause even minimal harm to the health of vacationers.

When relaxing even on an officially approved beach for swimming, it is recommended to be extremely careful, because the safety of the holiday also depends on the visitors of the reservoir themselves: someone may accidentally or deliberately throw empty glass containers or other dangerous objects into the reservoir. In order to make your vacation as safe as possible, it is better to swim wearing silicone shoes; they will not interfere with movement in the water, but will save your feet from unwanted cuts and injuries.

Rules for safe swimming with children

You can only let children swim on their own in a special fenced area of the reservoir, but even in this case it is necessary to keep an eye on them. Often on the beach there are various slides and other water attractions that children love very much, but it is not recommended to let them go there alone. It’s better to keep your pets company and turn your vacation on the pond into family entertainment – fun and safe. It is possible and even necessary to bathe babies, but preferably in shallow water.

How to find out where it’s safe to swim in the Moscow region,

Summer is coming, and many are already thinking about where to spend their vacation. Of course, many of us, out of habit, are ready to go to domestic and foreign seaside resorts. Those of you who can afford Nice, Mauritius or Miami need not read any further :) But most of us remember with nostalgia the affordable visa-free holidays in Turkey and Egypt. But this opportunity is closed for now, and, it seems, for a long time. At the Black Sea resorts of Russia this summer, a rush is expected with all its consequences: expensive, queues, beaches crowded, “our” service and a shortage of hotel rooms.

Holidays on lakes in our country can be a good alternative. We bring to your attention the best places where you can swim and sunbathe, improve your health and go fishing, and just see new interesting places and relax with the whole family inexpensively.

Pskov Lake.

The most convenient way from Moscow is to first get to Pskov by plane or train, then travel 25 km by regular bus or by boat along the Velikaya River. Lake Pskov is part of a huge lake region on the border with Estonia. The lake is large and shallow, with an average depth of 4 meters. The water warms up to 22C from mid-June. The shores of the lake look very picturesque; they are covered with coniferous forests and sand dunes. Here you can relax as a “savage” or choose one of the resorts. In the summer, at the Pleskov country hotel, a double room costs 3,600 rubles, and at the Lukomorye recreation center, a standard room for two will cost 2,600 rubles. In addition to a beach holiday, you can go fishing (bream, pike perch, perch, roach), drive through the surrounding villages or admire ancient Pskov.

Lake Baikal.

Lake Baikal is one of the natural attractions of Russia, located on the border of the Irkutsk region and Buryatia. You can get from Moscow by plane or train to Irkutsk or Ulan-Ude. The lake's water surface area is approximately 32,000 square meters. km, which is comparable to the territory of Holland. This is the deepest and cleanest freshwater lake on our planet. The best places for swimming are the shores of the Barguzinsky and Chivyrkuisky bays; here in the summer the water warms up to 22C. And the most famous resort of Lake Baikal is the village of Listvyanka, it stretches for 5 km along the coast. You can stay inexpensively, for example, in the “Bodriy Medved” guest house (1,200 rubles per day for two), or in a luxury hotel similar to the Swiss chalet “Anastasia” (from 6,000 rubles per day for a double room in July). The energy center of Lake Baikal, Olkhon Island, is also considered a good place where you can improve your health; it is very beautiful and clean here. History buffs should see the Buddhist datsans, which are located nearby in the village of Arshan, and families with children will be interested in visiting the world’s only nerpentarium and seeing the famous Baikal seals live.

Lake Elton.

Lake Elton is the Russian analogue of the Dead Sea. It is located in the Volgograd region almost on the border with Kazakhstan. From Moscow, the most convenient way is to fly to Volgograd or take a train (directions Astrakhan, Makhachkala, Astana) to Elton station, which is located 6 km from the lake shore. The water temperature in the lake in July reaches 25C, but this process can hardly be called swimming, rather a bath, after which you need to take a fresh shower. Just like the Dead Sea, people come here for health reasons. At the beginning of the last century, the Elton sanatorium was built here (from 2800 rubles per day per person with treatment and food). Here they treat diseases of the musculoskeletal system, skin diseases, and relieve joint pain. Diseases of the respiratory tract, nervous system, gastrointestinal tract and genitourinary system also respond well to treatment. There is practically no resort infrastructure here, but guests can enjoy beautiful steppe landscapes, walks in the Eltonsky Natural Park and stunning views of the pink waters of the lake.

Lake Teletskoye.

Teletskoye Lake is located in the Altai Territory, on the border with the Western Sayan Mountains and is recognized as the most picturesque and one of the most visited lakes in Russia. There are regular direct flights from Moscow to Gorno-Altaisk, then you need to travel another 150 km by car or minibus. Local residents also call this lake Altyn-kel, that is, “golden lake.” And this is not an exaggeration. The lake is the main natural attraction of the Altai region. Nature has preserved its pristine nature here, and the banks of the reservoir are considered a unique protected area. The water is so clean and transparent that it seems like a natural aquarium, in which a huge number of fish species live, including burbot and grayling. People come here for excellent fishing, clean beaches and natural beauty. The only drawback for tourists is that even on the hottest summer days the water rarely warms up above 20C. You can stay at one of 18 campsites or at a camp site. Prices for daily accommodation per person range from 300 to 6,500 rubles.

Lake Uvildy.

Lake Uvildy is one of the largest and most beautiful natural reservoirs in the Urals. Getting there from Moscow is very easy. By plane or train to Chelyabinsk, then approximately 90 km by land transport to the resort sanatorium “Uvildy”. The name of the lake translates as “blue bowl”. The water in the lake is crystal clear and has healing properties - heals wounds and has a good effect on the condition of the skin. Thanks to its exceptionally clear water, the lake has long been a favorite of divers. And fishermen won’t be bored either - the lake is full of bream, pike, perch, crucian carp and roach. The fishing here is exceptional. There are many recreation centers and children's camps on the shores of the lake; residents of the surrounding Ural cities come here on weekends. The cost of spending the night in a sanatorium or at a tourist center in a room with amenities ranges from 2,500 to 6,000 rubles.

Lake region Seliger.

You can get here from Moscow or St. Petersburg by car or by train to Ostashkov station. A trip to this amazing land of small islands, rivers, lakes and almost 1,500 kilometers of beaches can easily replace a trip to the sea. The swimming season on Seliger is quite short, from July to mid-August, the water temperature is usually no higher than 22C. There are dozens of boarding houses, camp sites and sanatoriums on the lake shore. On average, accommodation in a double room with private amenities will cost about 3,000 rubles for two. When you get tired of swimming, sunbathing and fishing, you can go to the famous Nilova Heath, rent an ATV or ride a yacht.
