Photo: Window on the World Theme Park

Photo and description

Huaqiao District of Shenzhen City is famous for the original Window of the World Park, located on the coast of the bay and covering a vast area of 480,000 square kilometers. The project of the park is aimed at a wide audience, and the main concept is based on the idea of creating a theme park that unites the cultures and customs of different countries. Well-known designers who have significant experience in building copies of world attractions worked on the creation of "Window to the World". The popularity of the park is evidenced by the huge number of tourists who come here every day.

The Egyptian pyramids, the temples of Karnaki, the Arc de Triomphe, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Taj Mahal, St. Basil's Cathedral, the Grand Canyon, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower, the Sydney Opera House - this is just a small part of what can be seen in "Window on the World". Each of the thematic zones reflects the entire depth of the national culture of a particular country, embodied in architecture. A convenient route has been developed for visitors, describing in detail all parts of the park. So, in improvised Venice, tourists are offered to ride a real Italian gondola along the water channel, and the walls of the Colosseum are decorated with scenes of gladiator fights.

The tour takes place, as a rule, in the daytime, after which a grandiose light show begins with the involvement of the best artists of the city. During the year, the park celebrates all the holidays and festivals that are important for different countries. In this case, colorful illumination and appropriate musical accompaniment are used.

I think many of you have been to miniature parks. The most famous of them, perhaps, is located in Belgium. I dreamed of getting there since childhood, but, being close by, we decided not to waste time and money. Moreover, by that time I had already visited another miniature park located in Beijing.
But it seems to me that not everyone has had a chance to visit such a park at night. Below is a photo from the Shenzhen miniature park "Window on the World".

Considering that we have already been to a similar Chinese park in Beijing and keeping in mind the cost of a day ticket (about 2 thousand rubles), we decided to go here in the evening, when the cost dropped to 600 rubles.

1.

Right at the entrance we are met by a huge .. I don’t even know what to call it .. amphitheater, where various performances take place in the evening. We didn’t really want to watch them, so we immediately went to see the sights of the park. But the guards didn’t want to let them in, so I had to break through in a roundabout way. At first, we even thought that the ticket included only the show, and the park itself was closed by then. But by the looks of things, viewing the performances is mandatory for everyone, after which you can already go to inspect the thumbnails. We made such a conclusion a couple of hours later, when the flow of visitors poured onto the paths of the park

2.

After the amphitheater, the Eiffel Tower appears before our eyes. Interestingly, you can climb it and view the park from above. Only in the evening the rise closes and we did not get to the top.

3.

The park guards were still somehow trying to get all the people behind the fences, but together with the Chinese, we hurriedly went deep into the park

4.

Walking in such a park at night is interesting and unusual, but not all sights are illuminated to the proper extent. And some don't light up at all.

5.

But you can safely touch the sculptures and no one will say a word

6.

The park is divided into several zones: Asia, Oceania, Europe, Africa and the Americas, as well as the Peace Sculpture Garden and International Street.

7.

It would be interesting to shoot it all from a tripod, but then you would have to spend the whole night in the park)

8.

And in general, we were afraid that even such a backlight could be turned off

9.

The park area is very large. I don't think we even got halfway through. In addition, in the dark it was difficult to navigate the map. Every now and then, objects appeared in front of us that, in principle, should have been located in a different place.

10.

There are also many attractions in the park. But again, they don't work in the evening. But during the day, there are probably huge queues there.

11.

12.

Manhattan

13.

Capitol in Washington. Models are presented in the park in proportions of 1:15 and 1:5. There are even 1:1 layouts

14.

Easter Island

15.

There is also a skating rink in the park, where .. it seems that for 20 yuan you can go skating. Skates are also available for rent.

16.

17.

The international street is lined with bars and restaurants where visitors can taste dishes from different countries. But again, in the evening it's all closed.

18.

In general, the Window on the World park, in my opinion, is much more interesting than a similar park in Beijing

19.

The entrance to the metro is made in the form of an entrance to the Louvre (although I have not been to Paris, but it seems to be similar)

20.

That's all) Be sure to include a visit to this park in your Shenzhen program, especially if you have not been to such parks before. And, of course, it is better to go during the day to see the sights in all their glory, so as not to miss anything and, most importantly, to climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

The park is located near the Window of the World metro station of the same name.
Entrance in the daytime costs 200 yuan (until 19:30), in the evening - 60.

Yes, this is really the Chinese Eiffel Tower, or a panorama of the Window on the World park from the window of our room ... At night it looked like this:

Window to the world- a theme park in Shenzhen (we can say that we stopped in this city just to visit this park), has about 130 copies of the main famous (and visited by tourists) world attractions. There is a similar park (Peace Park) in the suburbs of Beijing, and I was there already 6 years ago. This one, in my opinion, is larger in area and in the number of attractions.

It took us 4 hours for a walk, we walked until dark, we were tired of horror. The entrance ticket costs 140 yuan. Let's go for a walk:

1. Royal Palace (Thailand), built in 1783. In addition to the palace, within the walls, the length of which reaches 2 km, there are administrative buildings and the royal chapel of the Emerald Buddha (Chapel Royal of the Emerald Buddha). The palace was the residence of Rama I, Rama II, Rama III, Rama IV. But the brother-kings Rama V, Rama VI and Rama VII preferred to build their personal residences, although the Grand Royal Palace was still considered the main residence.

2. Temple complex Angkor Wat (Cambodia)- This is a giant temple complex dedicated to the god Vishnu. It is the largest religious building ever built and one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. Built in the 12th century. Angkor covers an area of 200 km²; recent studies suggest that its area could be about 3,000 km², and the population reached half a million inhabitants.

3. Japanese garden:

4. Taj Mahal (India)- This is a mausoleum-mosque located in Agra. It was built by order of a descendant of Tamerlane, the emperor of the Great Mongols, in memory of his wife, who died in childbirth. The Taj Mahal is considered the finest example of Mughal style architecture, which combines elements of Persian, Indian and Islamic architectural styles. In 1983, the Taj Mahal was named an object world heritage UNESCO: "The pearl of Muslim art in India, one of the universally recognized masterpieces of heritage admired throughout the world."

In general, India is given a significant area there:
Hampi temple complex or the ruins of Vijayanagara - the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire:

Also in the park is a miniature of the Great Sanchi Stupa.

5. Monuments of Arab countries. Kuwait Towers (Kuwait) -visual dominants of the Kuwaiti capital, the height of the largest reaches 187 meters:

Some kind of palace (sorry, I don’t know what it is):

Malvia- the minaret of the Great Mosque in Samarra (Iraq) in the form of a huge spiral (52 m in height). The mosque was completed in 852, built of sandstone. On April 1, 2005, the upper part of the minaret was damaged in an explosion. Iraqi insurgents attacked the tower as it had a U.S. lookout point. The explosion knocked out the bricks at the top of the minaret.

5. Thai houses on the water:

6. Sydney Opera House And Harbor Bridge(largest bridge in Sydney), (Australia)

It is also one of the largest steel arch bridges in the world.

10 As suggested by a kind reader pirivotcheg , This Saint Sophia Cathedral or Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia(Turkey) - a former patriarchal Orthodox cathedral, later a mosque, now a museum; the world-famous monument of Byzantine architecture, a symbol of the "golden age" of Byzantium. The official name of the monument today Hagia Sophia Museum. For more than a thousand years, St. Sophia's Cathedral remained the largest church in the Christian world - until the construction of St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome. The height of the St. Sophia Cathedral is 55.6 meters, the diameter of the dome is 31 meters:

Particular attention of tourists is attracted by a copy of the Eiffel Tower 108 meters high. The tower is equipped with an observation deck, which can be reached by a panoramic elevator. From a bird's eye view, you can enjoy beautiful views of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, a former British colony and now a Special Administrative Region of China.

Basic moments

Before the announcement of a free economic zone here in 1980, there was a fishing village on the seashore, where about 30 thousand people lived. In three and a half decades, Shenzhen has developed into a modern, prosperous metropolis and has become the cultural, commercial and financial center of the region. Today it is one of the ten fastest growing cities in the People's Republic of China. Here are the largest centers of the electronic and electrical industry in the country.

Shenzhen has 11.38 million people and its population continues to grow. This is because many factories and enterprises have been built within the city limits, where poor residents of China's agricultural regions seek to get a job. Many Chinese want to move to the city because there is a higher standard of living.

Entrepreneurs choose Shenzhen because of the favorable tax incentives. In addition, Hong Kong, which has the status of one of the financial capitals of Southeast Asia, is located very close. Of course, Shenzhen's rapid growth did not happen in a vacuum. The region's economy has received huge investments from the Chinese government and other countries, and financial injections into the development of Shenzhen and its suburbs continue.

The Chinese city attracts many tourists. People come here to see modern skyscrapers, visit huge shopping malls and take a walk in picturesque green parks. The high tourist season in Shenzhen is the period from October to December, when there is no rain on the coast, and the weather is pleasantly cool.

To accommodate travelers in the metropolis, many hotels have been built - from inexpensive motels to luxury hotels, so it is not difficult to choose accommodation for every taste and budget. One of the features of Shenzhen is that large resort and hotel complexes are open here, on the territory of which there are not only modern hotels, but also excellent parks, entertainment centers and convenient places for shopping.

Geographic location and climate

Shenzhen is located in the Pearl River Delta, which the Chinese call the Pearl River or the Canton River. From the south, the city borders on Hong Kong. Initially, the terrain at the mouth of the river was hilly, but during active construction, most of the hills were razed and the forests were cut down.

The climate of the region is subtropical. Thanks to the South China Sea, Shenzhen has very mild winters and frosts are rare. The average air temperature in the winter months is +15...+17 °С, and at the height of summer the thermometer rises to +28...+30 °С.

In addition to the heat, the subtropics are characterized by high humidity. From April to mid-October, the rainy season begins in the city. Especially strong monsoons hit the coast at the height of summer. Often powerful typhoons pass through Shenzhen.

Attractions in Shenzhen

Shenzhen is not just a modern, high-rise metropolis. It is a very green and livable city. When it was created, large park areas were laid out so that local residents and tourists would have a lot of space for recreation and entertainment.

Most travelers who come to Shenzhen visit the Window on the World and Magnificent China theme parks, which are dedicated to architectural and historical landmarks - famous temples, towers, palaces, castles and bridges.

In the first park, you can see small copies of the most famous architectural structures of the planet, and in the second - only those sights that are located on the territory of China. Next to miniature China stands the "Ethnographic Village", which shows the life and traditions of 24 minorities living in the country.

In 2000, the Minsk World park was created in Shenzhen. Its main "highlight" was the large Russian aircraft carrier "Minsk", decommissioned after the accident. Guests of the park are happy to walk along the decks and look into the cabins of the sailors and the captain, which have been turned into a tourist attraction. So that everyone can feel the spirit of the warship, the guides and staff working on it are dressed in military uniforms. In addition to the aircraft carrier, the park attracts tourists with its excellent Golden Beach.

In the urban area of Nanshan, a modern park "Happy Valley" is opened, divided into several thematic zones. There is a large water park in the Happy Valley, show programs are held every day. Tourists who come here can find entertainment for every taste - from skiing on high-speed slides to walking in the shade of dense plantings. And in the evenings, many residents of the surrounding neighborhoods flock to the park to watch the bright light show. It is carried out on the beach, using the most modern technologies in illumination.

In the eastern part of Shenzhen, in the Daimesh district, OCT (Overseas Chinese Town) East Park, established in 2007, is located. In this theme park, tourists can learn more about the culture of China and other countries of the world. In the Tea Valley, guests are shown tea plantations, introduced to the traditions of making a popular drink and the peculiarities of Chinese tea ceremonies. Many people like the bright design of the park. Different types of orchids bloom in it, trained parrots live, and colorful butterflies fly over flower beds. The park's Knights' Valley features state-of-the-art rides and a cable car over a cliff, while Cloud Valley has a large golf course.

In the central district of Futian, near the intersection of three subway lines, there is Lotus Hill Park. On the elevated field, children and adults love kite flying, while boating and catamaran rides are popular on the lake. Many tourists come here to admire the city buildings and streets from the observation deck, which is located on the top of the hill, at an altitude of 106 m.

In the Luohu area, travelers are greeted by the Fairy Lake Botanical Garden. Since 1990, there has been a Hong Fa temple here, which has become one of the most visited Buddhist shrines in Shenzhen. From the upper platform of the temple complex, a good overview of the green area and the lake opens up.

This is not the only botanical garden in the city. In the south of Longgang District, in the suburban area of Shenzhen, there is Xianhu Botanical Garden. It is known for a large collection of plants brought from different countries. Over 4 thousand species of herbs, shrubs and trees grow on an area of more than 600 hectares. Of course, it is difficult to travel through such a vast territory on foot, so for tourists, road trains-steam locomotives go through the botanical garden, making stops in the most interesting places. In Xianhu, you can see a large bamboo grove, a collection of ancient petrified trees and a picturesque mountain waterfall. Interestingly, excursions on the lake are held on old boats, accompanied by guides dressed in national costumes.

In 1990, on the site of the old settlement of Hakka, in the Longgang district, an unusual village of Dafen was created. Young Chinese artists liked the opportunity to live and create in one place, in the company of like-minded people, and they began to come to Dapheng from different parts of the Celestial Empire.

At first, the villagers were engaged only in copying the paintings of famous masters - Rembrandt, Salvador Dali, Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet, and earning a living from replicas of great paintings. Today, hundreds of artists, framers and masters of decorative art sell their products here, offering customers goods for every taste and budget.

In the Artists' Village, you can buy reproductions and original author's works, fine embroidered paintings and small watercolors of Shenzhen, traditional Chinese ink drawings and beautiful frames. Artists order family portraits from photos, paintings on a case for your favorite smartphone, and copies of works by famous masters. In the village of Dafen, a city museum of fine arts is open, where admission is free. Get to the village of artists on foot from the metro station Dafeng.

shopping

Many guests of Shenzhen rightly believe that one of the main attractions of this Chinese city is its shops. Shopping here can be a real pleasure for everyone who likes to walk around the trading floors for a long time. Visitors to Shenzhen enjoy visiting the Dongjie Pedestrian Mall and the clustered shops of the Old Center.

According to travelers, the best place to buy textiles in Shenzhen is the area around the railway station. World-famous brands are worth looking for at the International Commercial Market and Xiwu Department Store. And for dried seafood they go to Seafood Street, in the Longgang area.

For electronics, tourists go to shopping centers near the Shanghai Hotel. At the intersection of Hua Qiang Lu Street and ShenNan Lu Boulevard, there is a huge skyscraper "SEG Plaza", which rises to a height of 356 m. The building has 72 floors and is entirely given over to electronics stores and offices of electronics companies. The lower three floors of the skyscraper are reserved for the popular electronics market. From the 4th to the 8th floor there are shops selling computers, and from the 9th to the 12th floor there are restaurants and gastronomic centers.

Metro

The rapid development of urban infrastructure and the constant growth of the population forced the Shenzhen authorities to build an underground transport. The metro began operating in the city in 2004. Today, five lines have been created in Shenzhen, on which 137 stations have been opened. Three more lines are under construction. Shenzhen Metro is a convenient, easy and inexpensive way to get from end to end of the city. True, during rush hour there are a lot of people in it.

Passengers are transported by modern, air-conditioned trains. Announcements in the trains and marks on the subway maps are made in Cantonese and English, so it is quite easy for foreign tourists to navigate the Shenzhen subway. It is also convenient that all metro stations are equipped with free toilets.

The fare depends on the distance. To enter the subway, you need to buy a token. They are sold at stations in special machines that accept coins of 1 and 5 yuan. If at the entrance to the underground transport there was no change, you can contact “Customer’s Service” for the exchange of paper bills, but queues often line up there.

In addition to tokens, subway passengers use transport cards that cost 100 yuan. It is easy to replenish a card account in vending machines. Transportation cards are very popular with Shenzhen residents and tourists, as they are 5% cheaper than tokens.
