Joaquin "Baby" Guzman

The most wanted criminal in the world is the head of the Mexican drug cartel "Sinaloa" Joaquin Guzman. At the very beginning of the century, a drug lord nicknamed "Baby" (El Chapo) escaped from prison in a dirty laundry cart and has since been hiding from Mexican justice somewhere in the mountains in the north-west of the country. Guzman earned billions on the traffic of marijuana and cocaine - last year Forbes included him in the list of the richest people on the planet. A $5 million reward has been offered for Guzman's capture.

Ayman al-Zawahiri

For a long time, Zawahiri was the second man in al-Qaeda after Osama bin Laden. After the death of the latter, Zawahiri became one of the contenders for the vacant post of "terrorist number one." The FBI holds Zawahiri responsible for the bombings of American embassies in Tanzania and Kenya in the late 1990s.

Dawood Ibrahim

Dawood Ibrahim leads the vast D-Company crime syndicate, whose interests extend to every imaginable area of criminal activity - from drug trafficking to contract killings. The interests of the syndicate are limited mainly to India, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. According to the FBI, Ibrahim is closely linked to al-Qaeda and its South Asian affiliate, Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was responsible for the 2008 terrorist attack on the Indian city of Mumbai. There is evidence that Ibrahim lives in Pakistan under the guise of local intelligence agencies. In Islamabad, this information is categorically denied, calling it absurd. However, they said the same thing about Osama bin Laden.

Semyon Mogilevich

The United States suspects Russian businessman Semyon Mogilevich, also known as Sergei Schneider, of money laundering and arms trafficking, possibly even nuclear weapons. In 2008, Mogilevich was arrested by the Arbat Prestige chain of cosmetic stores, but then released. Washington tried to get Mogilevich's extradition from Moscow, but was refused: the absence of an extradition treaty between the countries prevented it.

Nasser Al-Wakhishi

Leader of the hugely successful al-Qaeda affiliate in Yemen. In 2006, he escaped from a local prison and since then the so-called "al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula" has become more powerful every year. Not much is known about Wahishi, but the US blames him for orchestrating dozens of major terrorist attacks in the region.

Matteo Messina Denaro

Denaro, nicknamed after the hero of the Italian comic book "Diabolic" (Diabolic), became one of the leaders of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra after the arrest in 2006 of Bernardo Provenzano. Despite unprecedented efforts by the local police to end mafia dominance, Denaro still remains at large. 39-year-old Denaro has a passion for women, expensive cars, watches and other luxury items.

Alimzhan Tokhtakhunov (Taiwanchik)

Alimzhan Tokhtakhunov, also known as Taiwanchik, is accused by the United States of selling drugs, weapons and stolen cars. In addition, in 2002 Taiwanchik was suspected of trying to bribe referees during the figure skating competition at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. A year later, Taiwanchik was detained in Italy. Washington failed to achieve his extradition: Tokhtakhunov was released.

Felicien Kabuga

Felicien Kabuga financed one of the worst genocides in human history - the massacre of 800,000 Tutsi and Hutu Rwandans in 1994.

Joseph Kony

Led by Joseph Kony, the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) has been trying to establish a Christian dictatorship in Uganda for two decades. Recently, the LRA has lost its historical power as a result of the combined actions of the armies of Uganda, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo with the support of the UN. However, until now, units of the LRA regularly attack small villages, killing and driving thousands of people into slavery. There is a rumor among the illiterate population that Koni can stop bullets.

Doku Umarov

The Emir of the Caucasus Emirate and leader of the Chechen separatists, Doku Umarov, is considered the organizer of a number of major terrorist attacks in Russia, including the Nevsky Express train bombing and the Moscow metro bombings in 2010. Earlier this year, Umarov claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack at Domodedovo Airport. In the spring, information appeared that Umarov had been killed during a raid by Russian law enforcement agencies. Genetic examination, however, did not confirm his death. The US is offering a $5 million reward for Umarov's capture.

Popular glory comes not only to honored artists, great workers and brave heroes. It is also received by well-known criminals who, with their illegal activities, go down in history for a long time.

This time we have compiled a list of the most popular criminals in the world - from the legendary American gangster Al Capone to the ruthless killer Andrei Chikatilo.

Al Capone

Photo: Rex/Fotodom.ru One of the most important gangsters of the 20th century, who carried out active criminal activity during Prohibition and the Great Depression in the United States.

From an early age, Alfonso Gabriel Capone was a naughty and aggressive guy. In the sixth grade, he attacked his teacher right during the lesson, after which he left school and soon began to engage in criminal cases.

By the age of 18, Capone was suspected of two murders and many less serious crimes, which forced him to leave New York and move to Chicago. There, his impetuous criminal career began in the empire of the influential gangster of those times, Johnny Torrio.

Many believe that Al Capone came up with a system of "money laundering" when illegally earned finances from smuggled alcohol had to be legalized. To do this, the gangster opened a large network of laundries, where Americans came and gave them to wash their clothes.

For a long time, law enforcement agencies in America could not catch Al Capone in any way, because it was very difficult to solve all his crimes. This is how the legendary case of non-payment of income tax appeared. He received 11 years in prison in the 1930s, but only served seven of them. After the release, Capone was already terminally ill with syphilis, which almost completely destroyed his body.

Photo: Rex / Fotodom.ru Bin Laden created the Islamic terrorist organization Al Qaeda, which at one time took responsibility for the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York, the 1998 US embassy bombings in Africa, and other bloody events. . He is the 52nd son of multimillionaire Mohammed bin Laden, who died in 1968 in a plane crash.

The future terrorist graduated from an elite school, and also studied at the King Abdulaziz University at the Faculty of Economics and Management. Already in 1979, Bin Laden fought on the side of the Mujahideen against the army of Soviet troops in Afghanistan. Then he actively helped the Afghan resistance, supplying weapons, money and new militants.

Some time after the war in Afghanistan ended, the terrorist declared America enemy number one, and called the murder of the American people and its allies the duty and duty of every Muslim.

Subsequently, the US government declared Bin Laden the main enemy of the United States and began an active hunt for his head.

They began to talk about the fact that the terrorist had died back in 2001 after the bombings in Afghanistan, but soon this information was denied. Then, in 2006, the French media broke the news that Bin Laden had died of typhoid fever, but this stuff also turned out to be untrue. In 2007, the Prime Minister of Pakistan claimed that bin Laden had been killed, but that was not the case either.

On May 2, 2011, American special forces managed to really eliminate the terrorist. The operation was called "Neptune's Spear" and was authorized by former US President Barack Obama.

Photo: Rex/Fotodom.ru Charles Manson is a popular American criminal who in the 60s created a cult called "Family", whose members committed several terrible crimes. The most notorious of which was the murder of director Roman Polanski's pregnant wife, actress Sharon Tate.

Manson had a difficult childhood. When he was six years old, his mother went to prison for attempting to rob a gas station, and the boy did not even know his father. He studied extremely poorly at school, so at the age of 12 he was sent to a correctional institution, where he was abused by older students.

In his twenties, Manson managed to steal more than one car, for which he received his first term. After three years in prison, he was released, becoming a pimp. Then he again ended up in prison, and by the age of 32 he spent 17 of them in captivity.

Soon Manson met Mary Brunner, who became the first adherent of the Family sect, and subsequently they began to live in one common commune along with 18 other women.

During the heyday of hippie culture, Manson became a real guru, and people from all over the world were drawn to him. Those who joined the "Family" received a new name from him and became "brothers" and "sisters."

The most famous residence of the "Family" was the Span Ranch, where the members of the commune sang songs, made love together, worshiped the devil, took drugs and slaughtered animals. From harmless pleasures, the activities of the "Family" began to acquire a more serious scale.

In 1969, Manson killed drug dealer Bernard Crowe, then in the same year, one of the members of the "Family" Bobby Beausoleil stabbed a guy named Gary Hinman, who sold him low-quality mescaline. In August of the same year, members of the "Family" went to the house where the musician Terry Melcher lived. Manson ordered them to kill everyone who is there and return back. The next day, the news was about a terrible massacre, the victims of which were an 18-year-old boy, a famous stylist, an heiress of wealthy parents, a friend of director Roman Polanski and his pregnant wife, Sharon Tate.

In 1971, Charles Manson went to prison for life, becoming an iconic character in American history. Popular culture began to produce stories dedicated to the spiritual criminal with might and main, and many people began to write letters to Manson, talking about their hard life.

The offender several times wanted to get out of prison ahead of schedule, but he was always refused. In November 2017, he died due to illness.

Bonnie and Clyde

Photo: Rex/Fotodom.ru This is a story about a gang of two American lovers Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, who robbed everything in their path and often hunted by killing police officers in the 30s of the last century.

Clyde Barrow was the fifth child in the family and did not have outstanding abilities. However, he was good at robbing and going to jail. Before meeting Bonnie, he had already served five times, which is a lot for a young guy.

Before meeting Clyde, Bonnie Parker was an excellent student at school, a waitress in a cafe, and even an exemplary wife. However, later she changed dramatically and became an avid criminal.

But Bonnie and Clyde were not alone. Together with them, their associates hunted for robbery, among whom was Bonnie's friend Raymond Hamilton, 17-year-old boy William Jones, Clyde's brother Ivan Barrow and his wife Blanche.

By the way, Bonnie and Clyde were fond of photography and often posed against the backdrop of cars in dashing poses. It is likely that it was these pictures that caused the spread of exaggerated rumors about the achievements of lovers.

In 1934, the couple were ambushed by two Louisiana officers and four Texas Rangers. As a result of the raid, about 167 bullets were fired in their Ford V8, and more than 110 of them hit the criminals. It is noteworthy that in Bonnie they found about a dozen more.

Photo: Rex/Fotodom.ru The legendary American criminal, bank robber and public enemy number one according to the FBI classification did not accidentally make it to the list of the most popular criminals in history.

During all the time he took out decent amounts of money from more than 20 banks and four police departments. In addition, Dillinger managed to escape from prison twice.

In the same year as Bonnie and Clyde, the police tracked Dillinger through his prostitute girlfriend Anna Sage. After the bandit left the cinema, where he enjoyed the art of cinema, the FBI agents ordered the man to surrender and pointed their weapons at him. Dillinger was also not a miss and decided to shoot one of the agents, but three bullets quickly hit the famous robber, one of them became fatal.

By the way, according to some reports, the FBI officers did not shout anything to Dillinger and did not warn him of their intentions. They just opened fire on him.

About the adventures of the greatest robber of all time, you can watch a film with Johnny Depp in the title role, which is called “Johnny D.”.

The main drug lord of the 20th century was so rich that in 1987 he was the first of the criminals to enter the Forbes list of "100 international billionaires." Then his fortune was estimated at three billion dollars. Escobar was the leader of the famous Medellin cartel, whose main occupation was the distribution of cocaine. About 15 tons of white powder were shipped to America daily.

Pablo had so much money that he lost about two billion a year due to the fact that they were gnawed by mice or corroded by mold. After all, some cash was stored in abandoned warehouses and farms.

Escobar is also known for burning nearly two million dollars to keep his daughter warm while the two of them were hiding in the mountains from police pursuit.

And in 1991, the drug lord, in agreement with the Colombian government, built his own prison, where there was a football field and guards chosen by him. Law enforcement officers could not approach her closer than five kilometers.

Escobar was shot dead in December 1993, when he was once again a fugitive.

Chechen terrorist Doku Umarov created his own virtual state "Caucasian Emirate", which became a terrorist organization banned in Russia. He was also president of the unrecognized Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.

In the same year, US authorities offered a five million dollar reward for information about his whereabouts.

The death of a terrorist has been reported more than once, and the first of such reports appeared back in 2000. However, the official announcement of Umarov's death was made in 2014. Then the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, published on the Internet a photograph of the corpse of a terrorist.

Andrey Chikatilo

Photo: flickr.com by @Scarysideofearth

Andrey Chikatilo operated on the territory of the Rostov region from 1978 to 1990, and during this time he committed 53 proven murders. He himself claimed that there were more deaths.

Among his victims were 21 boys aged 7 to 16, 14 girls aged 9 to 17, and 18 girls and women. At first, he entered into their confidence, for example, at bus stops, and then he led them into the forest and killed them. He cut off his victims' genitals, tongues, gouged out their eyes and did other horrors with them. Chikatilo seemed like a decent person, and it was hard for people to detect evil intentions in him.

The last victim of Chikatilo was the 22-year-old prostitute Svetlana Korostik. When he was leaving the forest, a policeman approached him and asked for documents, surprised that Chikatilo was in a suit and tie. Then the law enforcement officer only remembered the man's last name, because the policeman had no reason to detain him.

When the girl's body was found a few days later, law enforcement agencies already knew who to knock on the door to. Chikatilo was arrested and then sentenced to death.

According to journalist and writer Alexander Masalov, when the word “execution” was uttered in the courtroom, the people present applauded.

Semyon Mogilevich, or simply Seva, is known for being wanted in four different countries and is considered one of America's most wanted criminals. First of all, he was engaged in large-scale economic fraud related to American and Canadian companies. They say about Mogilevich that he even once sold depleted uranium to Osama bin Laden.

In 2013, he was included in the list of the 500 most influential people in the world according to Foreign Policy, and in December 2015, Mogilevich was removed from the FBI's list of the ten most wanted fugitives, since there is no extradition agreement between the United States and Russia. And in Russia, no one considers Mogilevich a criminal.

Some people are able to keep the whole society in fear. Unfortunately, such villains are not always caught, because they are cunning and resourceful. We present the rating of the most dangerous criminals who are still at large. Or at least they stayed there for a long time.

Joaquin "Shorty" Guzman

This man was caught as recently as 2016. Joaquin was the main drug lord of Mexico and controlled the largest cartels. In the United States, they were ready to pay $ 5 million for his capture. Guzmán has escaped from prison twice now, and who knows if a violent criminal will remain in the hands of the law this time.

Ayman al-Zawahiri

This is the heir to the entire al-Qaeda terrorist network after the death of bin Laden. The terrorist managed to organize more than 10 attacks even on important government institutions, including embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

Dawood Ibrahim

This native of India is the head of a large criminal company D-Company. Order killings and drug transfers - the criminal is engaged in any atrocities, being an active member of Al-Qaeda.

Semyon Mogilevich

Once a big businessman in Russia, today Mogilevich is the owner of many Hungarian brothels. He also launders money and deals in nuclear weapons. Wanted by British authorities.

Nasser Al-Wakhishi

Head of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. Nasser was released after his arrest in Yemen, although he is still hiding there. The criminal is engaged in recruiting new terrorists.

Matteo Messina Denaro

In Sicily, this mafioso is known to every inhabitant. Heir to his father's criminal business, Matteo eliminated all competitors and became the leader of the Cosa Nostra.

Alimzhan Tokhtakhunov

Once a cultural philanthropist, this man, nicknamed Taiwanchik, deals in drugs and weapons, can rig any outcome in a dispute and cheat in card games. Wanted in America and Germany.

Felicien Kabuga

A Hutu media tycoon who massacred many members of another tribe in Rwanda, the Tutsis. For the genocide organized by Kabuga, the authorities are looking for this person, offering 5 million rubles for the capture.

The vast majority of people are fond of secrets, intrigues, riddles, including detective ones. Reading a detective story or intensely watching the development of the action on the screen, we involuntarily catch ourselves thinking that we know for sure that the criminal will be captured and justice will prevail. Maybe detectives are a kind of fairy tale for adults. It's so nice to know that good always triumphs over evil. All good people will be rewarded and bad people will be punished. We all fully agree with Gleb Zheglov from the cult series "The meeting place cannot be changed": "A thief must be in prison." And also a robber, a murderer, a rapist and, of course, a terrorist.

Unfortunately, life is far from being so smooth. Very often, criminals roam free or are wanted for many years. For example, we all know the sad example of Osama bin Laden. For his capture, the highest award in the world was appointed - $25 million. All over the world he was known as the number one terrorist. The leader of an Islamic terrorist organization, who initiated terrible terrorist attacks that claimed many hundreds of lives, fortunately, is no longer afraid of us. On May 2, 2011, he was destroyed in Pakistan by American special forces soldiers. But other haters of humanity took his place. The list of wanted criminals is constantly updated: you can find international terrorists, rapists and pedophiles, drug dealers and scammers in it ... They are wanted by Interpol, the FBI, the CIA, the FSB and everything so that people can live in peace. The most famous criminals in the world:

An ordinary school teacher took the place of bin Laden. He loved his students, but he loved them too much. The FBI accuses him of making, storing and distributing child pornography. Eric knew computer literacy quite well, skillfully covered his tracks, but one day he made a mistake: he did not erase a film of his own making from a regular school video camera.

For a long time he tried to hide, but last year he was arrested in Nicaragua. By the way, in his first arrest, he managed to escape from custody. We hope that law enforcement officers, taught by bitter experience, will be more attentive and the offender will suffer a well-deserved punishment. All over the world, calling for war and inciting ethnic hatred is considered a terrible crime, for which serious punishment is provided. It happens that the criminal does not personally kill anyone, but because of his illegal actions, the blood of thousands of innocent people will be shed.

This oligarch from Rwanda fanned a real genocide in his country. In 1994, a terrible tragedy occurred in Rwanda: as a result of a plane crash, their president died. After that, Kabuga appealed to the population of the country with an appeal: the Hutu tribe should completely destroy the Tutsi tribe, who are their primordial enemies. Kabuga unfoundedly accused representatives of the Tutsi tribe of plotting and physically destroying the country's leader. After that, a bloody civil war swept through the country. More than 100,000 people found their death in it, many were maimed, raped, robbed, left homeless. Orphans roamed the country, subjected to violence and humiliation ...

The UN and the international tribunal demanded that the instigators of this war be brought to trial, one of the first to be brought to trial by Kabug. Even today the FSB is promising 5 million dollars just for information about the whereabouts of this criminal. But the Rwandan government believes that a person with such a condition cannot be convicted, which is why the perpetrator is at large.

The doctor and Muslim theologian was second only to Bin Laden in the infamous al-Qaeda organization around the world. After the death of the leader, he took his place. Even in his youth, in his native Egypt, Ayman founded the extremist organization Islamic Jihad. He was suspected for a long time, but could not prove his involvement in the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. After that, Ayman left the country, first joined the Afghan Mujahideen, and then joined Al-Qaeda and gradually became one of its leaders. In Egypt, he was sentenced to death in absentia, and the FSB promises 25 million dollars for his head, but so far without success.

This man is the most famous drug dealer in the world. According to Forbes magazine, he is one of the richest people in the world. Also according to this magazine, he is the most wanted criminal in the world.

Loera, known in Mexico under the nickname "Shorty", has long been a billionaire. Leads the world's largest drug cartel, Sinaloa. Delivers Colombian cocaine to the United States, produces methamphetamine, marijuana and pure heroin. The FBI is ready to pay for the capture of Loera 5 million dollars, and the government of Mexico 30 million pesos. But, probably, the criminal pays even more for his protection, and so far one can only dream of his capture.

He is the most wanted criminal in India, but in his activities he has long crossed the borders of this country. He chose the drug trade and the preparation of contract killings of major political figures from around the world as the main areas of his activity. According to the UN Security Committee, it was Kaskar who provided constant support to al-Qaeda, financed terrorist attacks in the United States, smuggled weapons and provided all kinds of assistance and support to Bin Laden.

According to some reports, this criminal is believed to be hiding in Pakistan, although the Pakistani authorities strongly deny this. For a good ten years, Cascar has been wanted by Interpol, but so far to no avail.

His other name is Sergey Schneider, a citizen of Russia, known to the widest public in connection with the high-profile Arbat Prestige case. In 2008, Mogilevich and Vladimir Nekrasov, co-owners of the Arbat Prestige network of expensive perfume shops and factories, were detained in the Russian capital and accused of tax evasion in the amount of almost 50 million rubles. Subsequently, both defendants were released on a large bail, and then a year later the case against them was dropped. In 2013, the FBI charged Mogilevich in absentia with fraud and money laundering, but so far the criminal is at large and where exactly he is hiding, the authorities do not know.

Tokhtakhunov, a native of sultry Uzbekistan, known by the nickname Taiwanchik, is accused of drug trafficking and arms smuggling in the United States. In addition, he organized a gang to steal and sell expensive cars.

In 2003, in Italy, the police were able to arrest a criminal. The US tried to extradite him. But the FBI's request was rejected, and Tokhtakhunov was released, where he remains to this day.

The leader of the militants of the North Caucasus, the third Russian who received the dubious honor of being included in the list of the most wanted criminals in the world. Domodedovo. For his capture, the US authorities have appointed a reward - 5 million dollars. Not so long ago there was information about his death, but many doubt it.

It is surprising that with such large awards assigned by the governments of different countries, the criminals are still at large and doing their dirty work. Maybe it’s worth thinking about the fact that the capture of a criminal is not only a matter for the authorities and law enforcement agencies, but absolutely all people should be vitally interested in this.

While we were writing this article, they fought for the right to stand at the top of the villain charts.

Max Viltovsky

It is believed that if you already liked the CIA or the FBI, then you can not hide. But there are still villains who are knee-deep in intelligence and shoulder-deep in the special services. These hide and seek champions are called criminals number one.

1. Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi preferred to keep a low profile. But some episodes from his life are still known. For example, recently his wife ran away from him. Let's not even imagine what will happen to her if al-Baghdadi's thugs find her.

Ibrahim Awwad Ibrahim Ali al-Badri (birth name) was born in 1971 near Baghdad. His father Avvad, a mullah at the local mosque, instilled in Ibrahim a love of religion. From an early age, he liked to gather the surrounding children and read the Koran to them. Listen, right on the street. And in power in Iraq at that time was the Baath Party, which was against the vigorous spread of religion.

When it came time to decide on a higher education, young al-Baghdadi suddenly decided to become a lawyer. But due to poor grades and bad English, he flew past the law school. But the young man was gladly taken to the theological, which he soon exchanged for the University of Islamic Sciences and successfully graduated from it.

In 2000, having received a master's degree, the future caliph moved to Baghdad. There was enough money for a small room in the poorest area of the city. During the four years of his life in the capital, he changed two wives and got six children. During the day he taught other people's children the Koran (for a salary), and in the evening he played in a football club, which was located near the house. The locals even called him "our Messi".

But many did not like Ibrahim. He was very correct and, unfortunately for the neighbors, extremely attentive. One day, when he saw men and women dancing together at a wedding, he immediately interrupted this blasphemy. The holiday was ruined. And so all the time.

In 2004 he was arrested. According to American intelligence, Ibrahim was in al-Qaeda, though an ordinary member. From February to December, he was held at the American military camp Bucca. Now former prisoners recall that even then he gave instructions to the captives, based not on general, but on personal interpretations of Islam.

After his release, Abu Bakr continued to work for al-Qaeda. And soon, due to internal conflict, the most brutal members of al-Qaeda left the organization and created the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Ibrahim was appointed chief of propaganda. And in 2010, after the assassination of the ISIS leader, it was he who temporarily became the leader. Religious authority remains the leader to this day.

Three years later, Ibrahim changed the name of the organization to the Islamic State and, in addition, changed his name to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Along the way, he proclaimed himself a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad.

ISIS gained notoriety, as you probably remember, in 2014, when the group took control of a significant part of northern Iraq within a month.

The US is promising to give $10 million to anyone who brings them Abu Dua, as the State Department affectionately calls it.

2. Mexican drug lord Joaquin Archivaldo Guzmán Loera

He was able to escape from prison twice and can rightfully be considered the main Mexican drug lord and the largest drug dealer in history, surpassing even the legendary Pablo Escobar in terms of influence and wealth. After the death of Osama bin Laden, he is considered the most dangerous wanted criminal in the world.

The future billionaire was born into a poor family: his father was officially a cattle breeder, and unofficially grew opium poppy. Since the nearest school was 60 kilometers away, little Joaquin spent time helping his dad in the field. At the age of 15, he left his father's house due to conflicts with his father and went to look for a better life.

Fate brought him into contact with Hector Salazar, a drug smuggler who worked for the Guadalajara cartel. Joaquin was put in charge of contacts with Colombian drug dealers. But not right away, of course. He had to honestly earn a reputation as a serious merchant. For the delay of the goods, Joaquin personally killed the carriers on the spot. The same fate awaited competitors and defectors. In the early 1980s, Joaquin became the personal driver of cartel head Felix Gallardo.

In 1989, Gallardo went to jail, and his cartel was divided into several parts, and one of them, Sinaloa, was headed by Joaquin Guzman.

When Sinaloa already accounted for almost half of the drug traffic from Mexico to the United States, Joaquin was assassinated. Unsuccessful. But the Mexican authorities got lucky: then they caught the drug lord. He was to spend the next 20 years behind bars.

With the protection of the oligarch behaved extremely arrogantly. The jailers described him as an egocentric, cunning, stubborn and narcissistic type. In general, both parties did not like each other, so Joaquin left them in 2001. Escaped from a high security prison by hiding in a laundry basket!

Then for 13 years he was elusive. But still got caught again. This time, Joaquin was sent to the Altiplano. Two years later, in July 2014, the guard brought a meager breakfast to the four walls of the cell. Shorty escaped through a dug tunnel one and a half kilometers long. The investigation found that this time the escape was planned and, most likely, he was helped inside the prison. A hole from the chamber led to an underground passage with lighting, ventilation and steps. The path to freedom was very comfortable.

On January 8, 2016, Mexican law enforcement again caught Guzmán and escorted him to prison, to the same Altiplano from which he escaped six months ago.

3. "King of gangsters" Daoud Ibrahim

Daoud, the "godfather of the godfathers," has been wanted since the FBI suspected him of links to al-Qaeda and its South Asian affiliate, Lashkare Taiba. Although the scope of interests of his company D-Company extends to different areas, from drug trafficking to contract killings. The Bureau sent a letter to Pakistan demanding that the criminal be handed over to them. The country's authorities assured the American side that they did not have such a person. It was later revealed that Pakistan took care of Daoud's safety by sending him with a new passport to some Asian country. Some sources from London claimed that to Kazakhstan.

American intelligence found out about this Indian gangster in 1993. Then it became known that it was he who organized a series of terrorist attacks in Mumbai, as a result of which 257 people died.

Now Daud Ibrahim is trying to catch the FBI and a number of other serious international organizations. But even with such an impressive tail, the gangster manages to remain one of the main drug suppliers to Western Europe.

Interpol claims that he is extremely rich in names: 16 different certificates and 11 passports that were issued in different countries (Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and India). According to the latest data, he has been hiding in Sydney since 2015.

4. Sicilian mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro

Matteo was born on April 26, 1962 to the family of mafia Francesco Messina, and for this reason alone he could not help but become a villain. From childhood, he was brought up according to all the rules of the mafia.

Matteo killed for the first time at the age of 18. Since then, more than 50 victims have been attributed to him. He became an authoritative member of the gang in the summer of 1992. In July, he shot his father's annoying competitor, Vincenzo Milazzo. He did not spare his woman either, even though she was in her third month of pregnancy. Then his murderous appetites increased greatly. The proverb has become commonplace that, they say, with the people whom he sent to the other world, you can fill an entire cemetery.

Most of all, Matteo loves beautiful girls and Italian cars. Once he did away with the owner of the hotel, who dared to reproach him for cohabiting with several underage girls. In the 90s, he was called the organizer of explosions in a number of Italian cities. It is assumed that this was his response to the decision of the authorities to arrange a "dark" Sicilian mafia. In 2002, after a long and fruitless search, he was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment.

By this time he was already an influential person. Since 1998, when his father died, he began to realize a long-standing dream - the unification of the twenty main mafia families separately from the Cosa Nostra. And he was very successful.

In 2006, the head of the Cosa Nostra went to jail. While the voting for the next leader was being organized, two of Denaro's competitors were unexpectedly arrested. As a result, the election turned into a farce, and Matteo was chosen as the new "godfather".

On April 6, 1994, for unknown reasons, the plane of Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana crashed. The businessman blamed this on the Nilotic tribes, who came to the country from the north in the 16th century and seized power over the Hutus and Pygmies. (And, to completely confuse you, know that the Hutus came a century earlier and enslaved the pygmies, while actively cutting down forests.) Over time, a serious confrontation began between Hutu farmers and Tutsi pastoralists, which continues to this day.

The death of the president was the impetus for a long-growing bloody conflict. Businessman Felicien Kabuga called on the Hutu tribe once and for all to crack down on the Tutsi barbarians on local radio. During the 100 days of the civil war, according to some sources, from 500 thousand to 1 million inhabitants of the country were killed. Of these, only 10% are from the side of the Hutus. The murder rate in Rwanda was five times higher than during World War II in the death camps!

When the storm subsided, an international tribunal accused Kabug in absentia of genocide and demanded that he be handed over for a fair trial. The Rwandan authorities did not dare to arrest the magnate. He took advantage of the confusion and fled the country - according to some sources, to Switzerland.

The FBI is offering $5 million to whoever brings Felicien Kabug to them.
