1 piece of baggage. One suitcase for two: new baggage rules. Special categories of oversized

Most flights require passengers to carry a certain amount of baggage. In many cases, paying for its carriage significantly increases the cost of the ticket. Recently, a mysterious inscription can be seen on tickets: baggage 1pc - what does this mean, we will consider further.

Previously, baggage was evaluated only on two main parameters. Now the concept of luggage space and its quantities has been added to them. Each of them has certain limits on weight and size in order to equalize the rights of passengers to carry things.

When flying, you can find out which baggage counting system is used by the airline by looking at the receipt. If “1pc”, “pc” are written there, then the accounting system is called piece. If the weight of the baggage is simply written on the paper, then the system for accounting for the baggage allowance is weight. There are different points of view on the 1pc system: many consider it comfortable for passengers, while others complain about the inconvenience and overpayment. Let's see how this concept works in Russia.

general information

The abbreviation "pc" stands for Piece Concept. Now, according to this system, luggage is limited not only by weight and size, but also by the number of seats. Each bag or suitcase occupies one so-called cell in the luggage compartment of the aircraft.

1pcs on the ticket means one free piece of baggage on the plane. Accordingly, with two free seats, the ticket will have the inscription “2pc”, and “0pc” will be indicated on the ticket without luggage.

This system appeared in foreign airlines. Today, many Russian air carriers are adopting it to facilitate flights for passengers with luggage. Conditions for free transportation of things may differ in different companies.

1pc at Aeroflot

Aeroflot was the first company to introduce a piece baggage accounting system. Of course, passengers here cannot carry suitcases of any size and weight with them. Baggage allowance 1pc Aeroflot: what is it, let's take a closer look.

The restrictive parameters applicable to the luggage of a passenger often correspond to the values \u200b\u200bcommon in global airlines, however, each carrier has the right to change the standards depending on the class of flight and other nuances. So, the greatest restrictions await economy class passengers.

1pc baggage Aeroflot - how much? A passenger can carry on board up to 10 kg of hand luggage and up to 23 kg of items in the luggage compartment. Bag dimensions should not exceed 158 cm. Business class passengers are given the opportunity to carry up to 15 and 32 kg of luggage, respectively, while two places are allocated for each in the luggage compartment, that is, business passengers are assigned a 2pc label.

Special conditions are provided to passengers participating in the Aeroflot Bonus program, as well as often regular customers of the SkyTeam alliance: 2 additional seats are offered to Aeroflot platinum level program members; 1 extra seat for SkyTeam passengers. So 1pc in economy class is 10kg in hand luggage and 23kg in the hold. We will reflect the main tariffs of the company and the corresponding baggage allowances:

The size of hand luggage that a passenger takes with him on board must not exceed the allowable limit of 115 cm. However, the company does not limit the carriage of umbrellas, handbags, outerwear or digital items (one per person), as well as those purchased in duty free goods. Of course, you will have to make a choice in favor of one or another position and present things at the time of inspection so that a special tag is attached to them.

The cost of tickets from Aeroflot initially includes the cost of baggage allowance. If you are flying with fewer things, you will not be able to reduce the amount.

Actions in case of excess baggage

If you are carrying more items, be prepared to pay extra for overweight. Usually baggage is carefully measured at the airport, after which the passenger is offered options for paying for excess baggage. The advantage is calculated on several points:

  1. Dimensions.
  2. The number of seats in the luggage compartment.

The amount of the surcharge depends both on the number of excess kilograms or the number of extra seats, and on the type of flight. Regional flights in this regard are much cheaper than international flights, so it is worthwhile to clarify the baggage rules in advance and calculate the possible financial consequences. It is usually cheaper to take several bags no more than 23 kg with you and pay for extra seats than to carry one large and heavy luggage.

For example, on international routes, the cost of an extra seat is 50 euros. For one item of baggage exceeding 32 kg, you need to pay 100 euros at home or 150 euros abroad. At the same time, at some airports in Europe, your suitcase may not be accepted, since local working conditions exclude the lifting of weights of more than 32 kg at a time by employees.

Exceeding the allowable dimensions will cost 100 or 150 euros with dimensions of more than 158 cm or 203 cm, respectively.

Traveling with children

Traveling with children and the corresponding ticket price depend on the age of the child. Children under two years old can fly in the arms of their parents, while they do not have to pay the full amount of the ticket, and there is also one free piece of baggage weighing no more than 10 kg per small passenger. Children over 12 years of age fly at the full price of the ticket.

Specific baggage

In the case of transportation of non-standard cargo, it is advisable for the passenger to notify the airline employees about the items being transported no later than one and a half days in advance. As a rule, musical instruments, fragile or valuable items, as well as specific objects require special handling, so you should take care of their safety in advance.

Traveling with pets

A passenger can take a pet on board if it weighs no more than 8 kg. Naturally, the transportation of an animal must be carried out in the presence of all documents and certificates from a veterinarian. If the animal weighs between 8 and 23 kg, it will have to travel in the luggage compartment. An exception can only be specially trained guide dogs, without which their owner will not be able to be on the plane. In this case, papers confirming this fact are also required.

Features 1pc in other airlines

Not only Aeroflot is actively implementing the 1pc system for flights. Other Russian carriers also use this innovation. What 1pc of baggage means often depends on the type of company and its pricing policy. For example, the baggage allowance for low-cost airlines will be significantly lower than for traditional airlines. Thus, Pobeda, a low-cost airline, introduced a 1pc baggage allowance equal to no more than 10 kg into the flight rules.

Luggage and baggage are not allowed in the cabin of the aircraft. A passenger can only take one item on board from a small list of allowed items. You will be able to take purchases from duty-free with you only after paying 700 additional rubles in Russia or 10 euros when departing from a foreign country. Each package, respectively, is paid separately.

1pc in Ural Airlines and UTair will be up to 23 kg with a maximum size of 203 cm. The carry-on baggage allowance is 10 kg and 115 cm. S7 offers passengers a generally accepted 1pc baggage allowance of 23 kg and 203 cm. competitors: the maximum weight is 7 kg. These parameters are relevant for the economy class. In business class or comfort economy, the allowable weight may increase.

pc increase

Knowing what the 1pc baggage allowance means will help you save a lot on your flight. However, there are different situations in which the passenger does not fit into the accepted standards. 1pc luggage cannot be reduced and refunded for unused space, however it can easily be converted to 2pc by paying for one more seat. There are some nuances here: companies index the increase in luggage in different ways. We have already told you how to pay for excess baggage at Aeroflot. Consider other Russian airlines. Pobeda offers customers three types of payment for additional baggage:

  • on the website of the airline or call center;
  • at the ticket office of the airport;
  • when landing.

These methods are arranged in ascending order of cost. For example, when ordering a seat via the Internet, its cost will be about 1,500 rubles. At the box office, this amount will increase to 3000 rubles. The next two places will cost 2500 and 5000 rubles. The third additional seat can be purchased only at the box office, and its price is 3000 rubles. Each piece of baggage assumes a luggage weight not exceeding 20 kg.

One kilogram of exceeding the norm in Pobeda will cost 500 rubles or 10 euros at foreign air terminals. A place for hand luggage costs 999 rubles, 1500 rubles and 2000 rubles when paying via the Internet, the ticket office of the airport terminal and when landing, respectively.

Two places will cost 1799, 3000 and 4000 rubles with the same methods. Such a differentiated pricing policy is simply explained: airlines encourage passengers to purchase tickets in advance and pay for luggage, which has a positive effect on the cost of low-cost flights. Therefore, if you plan to fly with this airline, pay for the excess online in advance to save money.

In UTair, one more piece of baggage will cost 2,000 rubles or 25 euros when flying in a foreign direction. The discrepancy between the overall parameters costs the same money, but if the luggage exceeds 32 kg in weight, the amount doubles. Siberian Airlines has introduced a surcharge for baggage space, which averages 2,000 rubles on domestic flights. In business class, this service will cost 6,000 rubles. The same amount must be paid when paying for the third place in any class. The discrepancy between things by weight in a big way costs 4000 rubles.

In Ural Airlines, the price of buying extra baggage space is related to the direction of the flight. For domestic flights, the price of additional space is usually 2000 rubles. As you can see, the 1pc system, on the one hand, is obliged to simplify the procedure for transporting luggage. On the other hand, it has many pitfalls. Firstly, passengers flying "light" are not compensated for the payment for luggage compartments if they have 1pc on their ticket. Secondly, surcharges and amounts of surcharges for overweight and other excesses greatly increase the final cost of the ticket. In fact, the concept of 1/2pc means an increase in the cost of a ticket, which is clearly seen when buying tickets online.

So that you do not have to urgently pay extra for overweight during the flight, check the baggage allowance on the airline's website in advance. If the flight is connecting, check if the requirements of the second carrier match the original baggage allowance. If possible, weigh your luggage at home and measure its dimensions. In the case of transportation of special cargo or potentially dangerous items, check the relevant rules on the airline's website or check with the company's call center about the possibility of flying with such things.

If you are traveling light and don't want to overpay 1pc for a seat, choose a fare that says 0pc on your ticket. Distribute things evenly if you have a lot of luggage: in most companies it is cheaper to pay for an extra piece than to pay for overweight or oversize. When using the services of low-cost airlines, the key point is to pay in advance for an additional seat. Be prepared for the fact that with a large amount of baggage, hopes for a flight that is advantageous compared to conventional carriers will not be justified. The main principle of such companies is to reduce costs, so it is better to fly with a low cost with a small amount of things.

In contact with

Issues related to baggage allowed for air transport are quite exciting for many. After all, the rules are constantly changing, some of them are being tightened. And for many passengers, the size of luggage on the plane is of fundamental importance. Therefore, it is worthwhile to study the issue in advance, so that later on the delivery of bags in luggage and when weighing hand luggage there are no serious problems.

Today, carriers use two systems, taken as the main ones, which allow for the final settlement of the transportation of bags and suitcases. This:

  1. Weight system
  2. By number of seats

The first option is often used on flights that depart through the CIS countries and to Asia.

An important point in the measurement system is the allowable weight, i.e. one that is free of charge. The gradation of the number of kilograms directly depends on the ticket class. The following rules apply today:

  • 20 kg per passenger in economy class
  • 30 kg - in business
  • 10 kg per child up to 2 years

In the first system for calculating how much luggage you can take on board, the following principle works - a passenger can take as many bags as they like, but their weight should not exceed the allowable standard. You will have to pay for all the extra pounds.

The second system implies that the minimum free kilograms must be packed in only one bag or two, if it is provided by the class of the ticket. That is, if the suitcase is filled with 10 kg, it will already take up the allowable number of seats, and for the second suitcase or travel bag that is not related to hand luggage, even if it is filled with 5 kilograms, you still have to pay. This calculation option is used for the most part in America. Of the Russian companies, Aeroflot recently introduced a similar scheme. In such a calculation system, the bonus is the fact that there is a little more free baggage allowance:

  • For the economy - 23 kg
  • For business - 32 kg

It is important to understand here that if passengers go on a trip together, their baggage cannot be summed up. Everyone is responsible for himself. As a result, if the bottom one has an advantage, and the other one has a shortage of kilograms in a suitcase, the first one will have to pay extra for the excess.

There is also a bonus for regular customers of the airline - they are provided with benefits on membership cards and for miles in the form of providing an additional number of seats on board the aircraft, or the option of adding a kilogram to the total weight of luggage is allowed.

Luggage dimensions

Baggage dimensions, even for transportation in a special compartment of the aircraft, must be taken into account. So, it is considered standard and acceptable for transportation without any additional procedures, except for weighing, a suitcase, which in the sum of its width, length and height is 1.58 m. This measure is valid for a system that takes into account the number of seats. In the weight system, this indicator should be equal to 2.03 m.

If your luggage goes beyond the limits, for example, you are taking skis, a bicycle and other oversized items with you, they will have to be checked in at a separate counter, and in some cases you will have to pay extra. The luggage on the plane in terms of size and weight in 2018 has the same parameters, but it is worth remembering that the situation may change.

After all, the principles for determining the baggage allowed on board are determined by the carrier itself. And you should regularly look through the relevant section on the airline's website or call the hotline so as not to get into a mess.

Excess baggage

Baggage, which by weight or number of seats exceeds the norms stipulated by the ticket, is called excess baggage. And in most cases you will have to pay extra for it. There are, of course, carriers that allow a small excess - a kilogram or two - without surcharge. But for the most part, for every kilogram in excess, you will have to give money. The cost of excess baggage varies from carrier to carrier. It is worth clarifying in advance how much money you will have to pay for an overabundance of things, if there is no opportunity or desire to lay out the excess.

Heavy baggage

Special attention is paid to luggage that weighs over 30-32 kg. This is called heavyweight. This includes those options that go beyond the allowable dimensions:

  • Skis and sports equipment
  • Musical instruments such as guitar or double bass
  • Appliances such as oven or refrigerator

Such goods can only be transported by agreement with the carrier - he should be notified in advance. On the day of departure, you must arrive in advance, because. the check-in of such baggage takes some additional time. At the same time, it should be understood that the air carrier may refuse to carry baggage, for example, if the baggage compartments are small or there is no more space in them.

Fragile luggage

There is a need to carry fragile luggage - glass, decor elements, paintings, etc. In this case, you will also have to draw it up separately and put an appropriate mark on the cargo. If the baggage fits the dimensions of hand luggage, the best solution would be to carry it with you into the cabin - this will ensure the integrity of things.

The issue of carrying hand luggage in 2018 does not lose its relevance. Moreover, the data on it is constantly changing. The amendments made to the law are now working. Previously, up to 10 kg of free weight was included in hand luggage, now from 5. But at the same time, air carriers independently determine how much weight they are allowed to carry on board. Thus, the country's major airlines said they would remain at 10 for the time being, both for regular tickets and for non-refundable ones.

In general, on average, there are such options for carrying hand luggage:

  • In business class - 1 seat weighing 15 kg
  • Economy - 1 piece 10 kg

It is important to take into account the dimensions of the bag so that it fits all the restrictions. So, hand luggage should be packed in a bag 55 cm high, 40 cm wide, 20 cm thick. Some carriers, such as Aeroflot, plan to check the compliance with the dimensions using special limiting frames, which will allow you to immediately determine all the necessary parameters.

We take to the salon without registration

Hand luggage and other baggage options include the following items:

  • Costume
  • Laptop
  • Video and photo cameras
  • Mobile phone
  • Books, newspapers and magazines
  • Outerwear
  • Ladies handbag
  • Briefcase
  • Cane and crutches
  • Umbrella

You can also take with you to the salon, without making out in any way, baby food and a baby carrier.

Packing hand luggage

As hand luggage in the cabin of the aircraft are issued:

  • Glasses repair tools
  • pacemaker
  • Pharmaceutical devices that you are allowed to keep only with you
  • robot toys
  • Razors
  • Eyelash curlers
  • Oxygen cylinders for medical purposes, etc.

Carefully study the baggage allowance so that there are no troubles with their transportation. And if you have any doubts about this or that piece of luggage, it is better to arrive at the airport in advance in order to arrange everything correctly, pay or set aside the excess.

Not so long ago, a mysterious inscription 1rs appeared on Aeroflot airline tickets, which immediately caused numerous questions from passengers. It was this carrier that decided to be the first to transform the rules for carrying baggage on an airplane. In this article, we will try to find out what baggage 1rs means in an air ticket and what is the baggage allowance of 1rs.

Prior to the introduced transformations, the passenger's baggage was limited according to two criteria - weight and dimensions. Aeroflot was the first to introduce the third restriction - by the number of seats. So the Piece Concept system, which is abbreviated as pc, began to operate on his flights. It operates in many European countries and gradually began to be introduced by Russian airlines. According to it, the airline determines the number of pieces of baggage that a passenger is allowed to carry for free. This system is also called a piece system, since the measurement of things carried is based on their quantity.

If the ticket indicates 1pc, this means that the passenger can carry one piece of baggage for free, if 2pc, then 2 pieces of baggage, respectively. When 0rs is indicated on the ticket, it means that you are not entitled to a ticket without luggage and carry a suitcase or bag for free.

Dimensions and baggage allowance 1pc

Baggage on many airlines is limited not only by the number of seats, but also by weight and size. Each carrier sets its own requirements and dimensions. Baggage allowance 1rs - what does it mean? Let's start with Aeroflot, about which I wrote about the requirements not so long ago. How much is 1pc luggage from Aeroflot? For the most important carrier of the country for checked baggage, 1pc in economy class is 23 kg., In business class, 2pc will be indicated on the ticket, that is, you can carry 2 suitcases for free. The weight of each is not more than 32 kg. The weight applies to one piece of baggage.

Carry-on baggage allowances are lower. 1pc for hand luggage in economy class includes 10 kg, and in business class - 15 kg. Aeroflot's luggage and hand luggage sizes are also limited. The sum of three measurements for things in the cargo compartment should not exceed 158 cm, and for hand luggage - 115 cm.

At Aeroflot's daughter, Pobeda Airlines, free baggage allowances have significantly decreased with the introduction. Now, which can be carried for free, you can designate 0rs, which means there are no free places, only paid ones. The position of the carrier is as follows: either fly with hand luggage, which is legally required for passengers, or pay extra for luggage. You can take any number of things into the cabin of the aircraft that will fit in the carrier's coliberator. Its dimensions are small 36 x 30 x 27 cm, which means that you are unlikely to fit several bags in it. But for an additional fee, Pobeda offers to take hand luggage, which is no longer limited by these dimensions, the main thing is that the weight of 1pc does not exceed 10 kg. Since the airline positions itself as a low-cost airline, it saves on everything. Including trying to make money on baggage.

For Ural Airlines, baggage 1pc in the promo category is 1 piece of hand baggage weighing up to 5 kg and 1 piece of checked baggage up to 10 kg. 2 rs assumes only the Business category.

The 1pc utair baggage allowance states that a passenger in economy class can carry 1pc of checked baggage weighing no more than 23kg. and 1pc hand luggage up to 10 kg and measuring 55 x 40 x 20 cm.

At s7 1rs luggage is how much? At the basic economy fare - 0rc of checked baggage and 1rc of hand luggage weighing 10 kg. At the economy fare, a flexible passenger can take 1 pc of checked baggage and 1 pc of hand luggage up to 10 kg. In business class, the carrier provides extended transportation conditions both in terms of the number of seats and weight.

I will show you what the inscription 1rs looks like in the photo. This is part of my e-ticket to Israel, where I flew with Ural Airlines. Look to the right side for the symbols 23k-1pc. They say that I can carry 1 piece of baggage, the weight of which will not exceed 23 kg. If I have 2 suitcases or, say, a weight of 25 kg, then I will have to pay extra. In the first case, for an extra seat, in the second, for an overweight of 2 kg.

Look for a similar inscription in tickets and other carriers.

Baggage allowance varies by travel class. For economy class, 1rs is usually offered, and its weight is lower than that of a higher class. For business, the carrier often designates 2rs on the ticket, which means 2 pieces of luggage. Moreover, the weight of each is much higher than in the economy class.

Is it possible to increase 1rs

For example, you bought an economy class ticket at Aeroflot, but you understand that your wardrobe cannot fit in one suitcase. Can I buy another seat in the cargo hold? Almost every carrier has the opportunity to take extra baggage or hand luggage for money. Payment is taken not only for an additional seat, but also for exceeding the established weight or allowable dimensions.

In our example, the surcharge will depend on the country of flight. On domestic flights it will be 2500 rubles, on international flights 50-100 dollars or euros. But the third place and subsequent ones will cost many times more. The same rule applies if the weight of the luggage is exceeded. It is often cheaper to buy another piece of luggage than to pay extra for an overweight suitcase.

As a rule, it is cheaper to purchase an extra piece of luggage in advance than at the airport. So, Pobeda Airlines has a difference of up to 50%. Imagine how much you can save by calculating the required volume in advance. The same procedure applies to weight, since one piece of luggage at a low-cost airline can have different weights. You can buy 1pc with a weight of 10 kg, or you can buy with a weight of 20 kg.

As for hand luggage, in addition to the dimensions and weight of 1pc established by the airlines, the passenger has the right to carry additional items from the FAP lists. They are not a piece of hand luggage and are extra. For example, you can also take a handbag or a suit in a suitcase with you.

Are skis or bicycles included in the fixed 1pc on the ticket? It all depends on the carrier. Aeroflot allows passengers instead of a suitcase (or in addition to it, if you have 2rs), to carry sports equipment without payment. But the S7 has skis and a snowboard as an addition to 1rs. Transportation of animals will not be counted as 1pc even if you are flying without luggage. An additional fee is charged for the transportation of a pet, according to the tariffs established by the carrier.

In this article, you learned what 1rs baggage is. Based on the foregoing, when preparing their baggage for a flight, passengers should keep in mind three important components - weight, size and number of pieces of baggage. For exceeding any of these three parameters, airlines charge an additional fee. In connection with the introduction of amendments to the law on the mandatory free baggage allowance, airlines have the opportunity to introduce no-baggage fares and set 0pc for their transportation. At the moment, not all airlines have taken this path. Many still left a free baggage allowance of 1rs for the cheapest tickets. When buying a ticket, I recommend specifying whether luggage is included in its cost and in what amount.

  1. We recently flew to New York and allowed only two bags of 26 kilograms each and a hand luggage of 7 kilograms, + a laptop bag.

    Answer

Passenger transportation, including air transportation, has clear baggage allowances. This is due to safety requirements, in order to avoid overloading the vehicle. Aircraft baggage regulations are particularly strict, as severely exceeding the weight limit can lead to tragic consequences.

In international practice, there are standards for how many kilograms passengers are allowed to carry. However, each airline independently determines the conditions of carriage and the dimensions of baggage and hand luggage, depending on the type of aircraft, class of service, etc. To avoid an unpleasant surprise at the airport, you need to try to determine the weight of your bags during the training. The rules for carrying baggage on an airplane are usually published on the carrier's website.

How many kg of baggage can I take on a plane

All passengers can carry n-th amount of baggage free of charge. Anything over the limit will require additional payment. At the same time, the allowances for carrying hand luggage and the luggage itself differ. The first includes those things that passengers take into the cabin of the aircraft. To the second - what is rented at check-in in the baggage compartment of the airliner.

In air transportation, two systems of free baggage transportation are accepted:

  • Weight - introduces restrictions on the weight of baggage, how many kg can be taken on board;
  • By the number of seats - limits the number of pieces of luggage.

Weight system

This is a system that sets limits on the weight of all baggage. Airlines operating under this system fix the limit of carried cargo free of charge by one person. The most common restrictions are:

  • Economy class -23 kg;
  • Business class - 32 kg.

A child under 2 years old has a baggage allowance of 10 kg, even if he flies without a separate ticket.

Airlines are developing loyalty programs in which, in addition to various bonuses, the maximum baggage weight has been increased for regular customers.

With a weighing system, it is possible to combine the luggage of two or three passengers. For example, you can take one suitcase for two weighing 30 kg.

By number of pieces of luggage

In Western countries, baggage transportation using the local system is common, and it is also used on most flights in Russia. Its essence is that each passenger can carry a limited number of "pieces" of luggage for free:

  • In economy class - 1 or 2 pieces of baggage (depending on the fare), the weight of which is not more than 23 kg and with the sum of the overall dimensions of 158 cm;
  • In business class - 2 or more pieces of baggage, which can weigh no more than 32 kg each, with dimensions of 203 cm.

To determine the dimensions, measure the height, width and length of the "place" and add their values.

The specificity of the system is that the parameters of the places do not add up. If the volume of one is more than the set values, you will have to pay for the excess, even if the limit of the second place has not been exhausted. The same applies to dimensions: if the suitcase is large, even if it is light in weight, you will have to pay the full price for extra. place.

Example! 1 suitcase weighs 10 kg, and the second 30 kg. Even though their total weight does not exceed the total weight limit (23+23 kg =46 kg), an overweight charge for a 30 kg suitcase will be required.

In addition, in countries with a developed trade union movement, there is a ban on loaders lifting more than 32 kg of weight. Those. if the luggage weighs even 33 kg, then you won’t be able to get off with an overweight fee, it will simply not be accepted on the plane.

hand luggage

Before the flight, you should also find out the rules for carrying hand luggage on the plane established by this company. The average size of luggage that can be taken on a plane is 15 kg (business) with dimensions up to 115 cm.

Carry-on baggage usually includes important documents, gadgets, a book to read, essentials, medicines, outerwear. If you are taking a backpack or a small bag with you on a plane, weigh it first to see if you have exceeded your hand luggage allowance. Otherwise, you will have to put something in your luggage.

The weight of carry-on baggage on an airplane is not considered when measuring the entire cargo carried. The full rules for carrying hand luggage on an airplane must be published on the airline's website.

Important! The standards described above apply to most airlines. However, there are so-called low-cost airlines that use an unconventional transportation system, which allows them to significantly reduce the price of tickets. Such carriers limit the weight of baggage allowed for transportation and its quantity as much as possible. Flying on such flights, people experience inconvenience, but they pay much less for a ticket.

Charter flights are also a special type of flight, when the company chartering the aircraft (in this case, the tour operator) itself determines how much weight passengers can carry for free.

Excess baggage

Taking with him more than it should be, the passenger must understand that the extra pounds will have to be paid. If an overweight cannot be avoided, it is better to find out in advance what procedures are adopted in a particular airline: somewhere a small overload is allowed, and somewhere it is categorically not allowed. At the same time, the tariffs of carriers for the weight of luggage on the plane per person, exceeding the norm, can reach impressive amounts. It is better to check in excess baggage at the airport in advance, as it will take time for weighing, payment and clearance. If there is a lot of such baggage, then it is drawn up in a separate document as unaccompanied and sent on a separate cargo flight. The passenger will be able to receive it at the destination under a special air waybill.

Oversized baggage

It includes luggage on the plane, whose dimensions exceed the established sum of three dimensions. Musical instruments, large sports equipment and equipment, a baby carriage, household appliances, etc. are considered oversized. If the cargo is valuable, it is recommended to carry it as hand luggage or with the purchase of an additional ticket. This point must be agreed with the airline in advance. It will take time for the carrier to accept a passenger with skis or, for example, a double bass.

If you have bought a separate ticket for oversized cargo, this does not increase the allowable weight of luggage on the plane, which you can carry for free.

Important! The air carrier has the right to refuse transportation of oversized cargo. There may be no free space on the aircraft, or the type of vessel may not be suitable (loading doors are too small).

Any oversize is paid additionally at a separate rate. However, it happens that airlines offer free transportation of sports equipment on planes flying to places of seasonal recreation (ski resorts, diving, etc.).

What is prohibited in checked baggage

The baggage rules also define the list of items and substances that are not allowed for transportation:

  • explosives (explosives, cartridges, fireworks, sparklers, gas and alcohol burners, etc.);
  • firearms;
  • flammable substances (gasoline, diesel fuel, solvents, gasoline lighters, etc.);
  • gases and liquids under pressure (pepper spray, sprays, deodorants, etc.);
  • toxins, poisons, acids;
  • radioactive objects and substances;
  • dangerous items that can be used to attack (pocket knives, straight razors, scissors, etc.). However, they can be transferred to the luggage compartment.

Checked baggage may contain trophy melee or throwing weapons (for example, a saber, sword or crossbow). However, they must be specially issued, and the passenger needs permission to carry them.

A complete list of prohibited items is determined by legislative acts approved by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.

Transportation of fragile luggage

Among the free baggage allowance, fragile items can be carried on the plane if they fit within the allowable weight limits. They can even be handed over to the luggage compartment, having warned the airport employee about this at check-in. In this case, an identification mark will be stuck on the cargo, and the loaders will bring it to the luggage compartment with special care. However, the airline is not responsible for the safety of baggage, even if it has the status of "fragile". Therefore, it is recommended to take it on board as hand luggage.

If the cargo is lost

Even if a passenger, knowing how many kg he can take with him on a plane, weighed his luggage, paid for excess weight, issued an invoice for oversized cargo, he is still not protected from losing luggage. Bags and suitcases are lost during loading and unloading, they can be mistakenly sent on another flight.

Algorithm of actions in case of lost luggage:

  1. You must have a baggage tag or receipt on your hands (it is usually issued upon boarding);
  2. It is necessary to contact the baggage tracing point and write an application for search;
  3. The airline must within 21 days to find the loss and return it free of charge to the specified address. If the client is offered to go for the luggage himself or pay for the delivery costs, this is a violation of the law;
  4. If at the end of the three-week period, the baggage was not found, or it was returned damaged, you need to write an application for damages;
  5. If the company refuses to compensate for the damage, you need to get their written refusal, with which to go to court.

Baggage allowance: main rules

So, in order for the trip to go smoothly, you should remember the basic rules:

  • Try to get a suitcase or travel bag of a standard size. Make sure that its dimensions fit into international standards;
  • Check your carrier's baggage allowance in advance. Pay special attention to this issue when flying with LowCost;
  • Knowing how much you can take with you on an airplane, it is better to take a couple of kilograms less;
  • When flying with small children, you can safely demand that 10 kg be included in their luggage;
  • If possible, fly light with hand luggage only. You will spend much less time landing and landing, and get rid of the unpleasant hassle of losing luggage.

Video

) depend on the class and (or) fare used by the passengers.

This is the answer to the frequently asked question: 1pc baggage allowance - what is it?

All luggage is divided into what is called "check-in" and sent to the cargo hold of the aircraft, where it flies separately from the passenger.

And the one that is allowed to take with you into the cabin of the aircraft is hand luggage.

Registered free

How much weight can I carry on an airline plane for free? In this case, you first need to decide not on the weight, but on the quantity. You can carry a limited number of "pieces" - pieces of luggage for free.

The baggage allowance of the airline 1rs is the following figures.

The largest free norms for business class travelers are 2 units of 32 kg each. Moreover, such generosity of the airline applies to all fare groups in the business class.

The size of the bag for an economy class aircraft of the Premium group and for a comfort class is 2 units, but already 23 kg each.

The maximum weight of a bag in Aeroflot for everyone else is 1 unit up to 23 kilograms.

The free “thing”-place has size restrictions. The size of hand luggage on the airline’s plane is no more than 158 cm in the sum of three-dimensional measurements.

Exceptions to the rules

Every rule has exceptions. And it also created some special free checked baggage allowances for certain groups of passengers and flights.

So passengers flying with Aeroflot to (from) distant Beijing, Shanghai, Delhi, to Hanoi, flying between Israeli Tel Aviv and American New York, Washington, between Sochi and Yerevan are allowed to carry not one suitcase, but two for free.

Moreover, it doesn’t matter at what fare an economy class ticket was purchased..

Something similar exists for those who fly from (to) Tokyo to Moscow (St. Petersburg). The business class of these flights is allowed three pieces of free baggage, and the economy class (all types of fares) - two.

But most of all, the holders of the company's platinum, gold and silver cards were lucky. They have a free baggage allowance and hand luggage by weight, and places are added to them, no matter where and from where they fly. Now they are not too worried about the question of how many things can be carried on an Aeroflot plane?

So all "platinum" - 2 additional places, "gold" and "silver" - one each.

For children from 2 to 12 years old, free baggage allowance is set, as for adults, regardless of class. But if the child is under two years old and is transported without a seat, then the free baggage allowance is reduced to 1 “piece” weighing up to 10 kg. At the same time, the size of a suitcase in Aeroflot also matters - no more than 115 three-dimensional cm.

If you are traveling as a couple or family, you are allowed to stack your free baggage allowance.

hand luggage

Whatever class an Aeroflot passenger is flying in, the dimensions of hand luggage are strictly limited - up to 115 cm in three dimensions.

This is due to the limited space in the aircraft cabin.. The bag must fit under the seat or on the top shelf.

It must be such that the passenger can lift it onto this shelf without assistance. That is why there are also weight restrictions - no more than 10 kg or 15 kg for business class.

In addition to hand luggage, you can take some things in the cabin according to a limited list. These things do not need to be weighed and they are not marked with tags.

  • these are fragile and expensive, valuable items - small electronics, a handbag, a briefcase;
  • things that some groups of passengers cannot do without in the cabin - diabetic and baby food, a cradle, crutches;
  • packaged purchases from duty free and other little things in the form of gloves, umbrellas, magazines.

Items that may pose a threat to the safety of the aircraft and its passengers cannot be carried into the cabin - piercing, cutting, firearms, explosives. There are also restrictions on the transport of liquids (only in small bottles).

Oversized baggage

And how many kilograms can you carry on an airplane at Aeroflot if the suitcase does not fit?

  1. Local. If the excess was one place, you will have to pay 2500 rubles. If for two - 7500 rubles. Such prices are valid only for domestic Aeroflot flights. For international flights - 50 and 150 dollars (euros), respectively.
  2. By weight. For excess from 23 to 32 kg, you will have to pay 2,500 rubles. From 32 to 50 kg - 5000 rubles. For foreign flights - 100 and 150 dollars (euros), respectively.
  3. To size. If your bag size exceeds 158 three-dimensional cm, but fits up to 203 cm, then you will have to pay 5,000 rubles ($100, euros for foreign flights). If the size is above 203 cm - 7,500 rubles (150 dollars, euros).

If your suitcase was “branded” as oversized in two or even all three categories at the same time, then consider that you are very unlucky. You will have to pay the sum of all excess norms.

And now let's look at the dimensional parameter of bags for an economy class aircraft using an example. You are flying to Europe with two suitcases in the usual economy class. One suitcase weighs 20 kg, the other 23 kg. You pass by weight and, let's say, everything is in order with the size. But in terms of the number of "pieces" - places you do not fit into the free rate, and therefore you will have to pay 50 euros.

Or you fly to the same Europe with two suitcases - 20 and 25 kg. In this case, you don't go by weight or place. Such a “failure” will cost you 100 and 50 euros, that is, a total of 150 euros. And if at least one of the suitcases turns out to be “unformatted” in the sum of three dimensions, then the surcharge will be another 100 euros.

Special categories of oversized

Sport equipment.

He loves athletes and counts one set of skis, one snowboard, one bike, two clubs, two fishing rods as one piece and introduces free baggage allowance.

Musical instruments.

Fragile and delicate, this item can be transported both in the cabin, in the passenger seat, and in
luggage compartment.

Wheelchairs and baby carriages. Guide-dog.

Transported free of charge when used personally by the passenger of the flight.
The guide dog flies in the cabin with its owner, tied to a chair at his feet and wearing a muzzle.

Transportation of all oversized items requires mandatory prior approval from the airline. It is better to do this when booking a ticket.

How to avoid overweight

  1. Don't take too much. The experience of experienced travelers shows that 15% of the contents of the suitcase remains unclaimed.
  2. Shampoos, gels and other bottles, voluminous and rather heavy, can be cheaper to buy on the spot than to pay for excess weight.
  3. A good way out is to buy alcohol, which you are carrying as a gift, in duty free before the flight.
  4. Buy a lightweight suitcase so that its own weight does not spoil your luggage statistics.
  5. Buy a ticket at an expensive fare with additional free places for things. It can be more profitable to fly when you have a lot of things.

It turns out that if we do not want problems with things during the flight, we need to foresee these problems and solve them in advance. Then we will not be afraid of any overweight and oversized.

We hope that now it has become more clear how much Aeroflot's baggage allowance is, how many kg you can take on a plane per person, what is the allowed weight and weight of hand luggage in Russia and abroad, and this information will be useful on future trips.
