You can also use the map to see nearby parking lots.

Debrecen joined the list of international airports in Hungary in 2004, when the reconstruction of the terminal was completed. In 2017, a new terminal began to operate here, which accepts all international flights. The map of the airport can be found at the main entrance. The airport in Heviz is small, a tourist can easily find everything they need in a single building.

    What to do if the flight is canceled

    If the flight was canceled more than 24 hours before departure, then passengers are transferred to similar flights of the airline. The costs are borne by the carrier, the service is free for the passenger. If none of the options offered by the airline suits you, most airlines can issue a "forced refund". After confirmation by the airline, the money will be returned to your account. Sometimes this may take several weeks.

    How to check in at the airport

    Online check-in is available on the websites of most airlines. Most often, it opens 23 hours before the start of the flight. You can go through it no later than 1 hour before the departure of the aircraft.

    To check in at the airport you will need:

    • the identity card specified in the order,
    • birth certificate when traveling with children,
    • printed itinerary receipt (optional).
  • What can you take on a plane

    Hand luggage is the items that you take with you on the plane. The carry-on baggage allowance can vary from 5 to 10 kg, and its size most often should not exceed the sum of three dimensions (length, width and height) from 115 to 203 cm (depending on the airline). A handbag is not considered hand luggage and is carried freely.

    The bag that you take with you on the plane should not contain knives, scissors, medicines, aerosols, cosmetics. Alcohol from duty free shops can only be carried in sealed bags.

    How to pay for luggage at the airport

    If the baggage weight exceeds the norms established by the airline (most often - 20-23 kg), you need to pay for each kilogram of excess. In addition, many Russian and foreign airlines, as well as low-cost airlines, have tariffs that do not include free baggage allowance and must be paid separately as an additional service.

    Baggage must be checked in at the airport at a separate drop-off check-in counter. If you are unable to print your boarding pass, you can get it at the regular check-in desk of the airline, and check in and check in your luggage there.

    Where to find out the arrival time if you are a greeter

    You can find out the time of arrival of the aircraft on the online scoreboard of the airport. The Tutu.ru website has an online scoreboard of the main Russian and foreign airports.

    You can find out the exit (gate) number on the arrivals board at the airport. This number is located next to the arrival flight information.

Airport Heviz-Balaton. sad impressions

After reading the title of the note, it is logical to ask the question that first comes to mind: "Why are you sad?" Yes, really why? Many of you have probably heard about this small airport, which receives international flights, including from Russia. Someone already knows about him firsthand, but thanks to personal experience. The fact that the airport is located near Lake Balaton and Lake Heviz and the resort of the same name makes it certainly attractive for tourists who want to relax here.

Let's remember some historical facts. Back in the period from 1940, here, next to a place called Sarmellek, there was a military airfield. In 1957, an agreement was signed between Hungary and the USSR, on the basis of which the Soviet troops (YUGV) were on Hungarian territory from 1956 to 1992.

The Air Force of the Southern Group of Forces included, among other things, the fifth fighter aviation regiment, stationed near the village of Sharmellek. Full name of the regiment: "The Fifth Guards Berlin Fighter Aviation Regiment Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky". There was a Soviet military airfield here for many years.

Our military built a 2,500-meter-long concrete runway at the airfield, the so-called "concrete" several meters thick, which is still in use today. In those Soviet times, at this military airfield, in special hangars, MiG-21, -23, and later MiG-29 aircraft were based.

Naturally, all the technical and support services, as well as the necessary infrastructure, were located here. Residential buildings for military personnel and their families, a school, a kindergarten, a shop, a canteen, a club. It was a completely autonomous military base.

A railway line was brought to Sharmellek and jet fuel arrived here without problems and interruptions, which is very important, because only one flight of a flash fighter can consume several tons of fuel. By rail, food was delivered to the base, spare parts and everything necessary for the autonomous life of the air regiment.

In the spring of 1989, in connection with the so-called unilateral reduction of the armed forces, a gradual withdrawal of Soviet troops from Hungary began. In March of the following year, an agreement was signed on a specific date for the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Hungary. According to the agreements between Hungary and the USSR, all personnel, equipment and materiel were to be withdrawn by June 30th.

Thus, in 1990, the history of the existence of the glorious heroic aviation regiment, which took part in the Berlin offensive summer operation during the Great Patriotic War and had many well-deserved military awards, ended. The personnel and all the aircraft were withdrawn to the Nikolaev region, to a settlement called Martynovka. Then, very soon, the collapse of the USSR came ...

After the departure of our military, the Hungarians did not use the abandoned military base for a long time. Residential houses and utility rooms gradually fell into a deplorable state. For the first few years, security was still organized here. When she died, buildings and residential buildings (windows, doors, plumbing) were simply plundered by local residents.

The objects of the former infrastructure adjacent to the Heviz-Balaton International Airport, which is currently used for civilian purposes, are now in such an unattractive state.

The road to the Heviz-Balaton airport leaves not the most pleasant impression. Outside the car window, crooked, like drunken poles, iron mesh fences and barbed wire. And behind the fence of the exclusion zone are abandoned, shabby buildings without windows and doors, and bunkers covered with weeds and uncut grass.

You can get to Hungary from Moscow in many ways - by your own car, by train, by a tourist bus. Air communication remains the most popular, because the flight takes some 2.5 hours. Of course, if you prefer direct flights.

We will talk about international Hungarian airports located in the area of Budapest and Lake Balaton. Our focus is on transport links with the nearest cities, terminal services, base airlines and much more. All presented terminals will be marked on the map.

Overview of international airports in Hungary

There are nine airports on Hungarian territory, five of which have international status. We list these air gates:

  • Ferihegy (better known as Franz Liszt);
  • Pech Pogan;
  • Debrecen;
  • Gyor-Per;
  • Heviz-Balaton (aka Sharmellek).

Some of the presented airports accept direct flights from Moscow, it is problematic to get to others.

Here is a list of airlines whose services you can use to fly to Hungary:

  • UTair;
  • Aeroflot;
  • Malev;
  • Aerosvit Airlines;
  • Lufthansa;
  • Czech Airlines.

Franz Liszt Airport is the most popular among Russians.

Ferihegy and other terminals

The leader in terms of popularity among our compatriots is the Franz Liszt Airport, which the Hungarians themselves call the strange word Ferihegy. Actually, Ferihegy is the area in which the airport was built.

Ferihegy is located in the southeast direction from Budapest. From the city center you will be separated by 16 kilometers. According to the IATA system, Franz Liszt has the BUD coding, according to the ICAO system - LHBP. The online scoreboard can be viewed on the official resource www.bud.hu. Reference phone: +361 296 70 00. And here is the list of base airlines of Franz Liszt:

  • Solyom - Hungarian Airways;
  • Travel Service Hungary;
  • Travel Service Airlines;
  • Wizz Air.

Within a radius of three kilometers from the airport there are about a dozen budget hotels with a three-star level of service. Franz Liszt consists of three terminals, with the first accepting exclusively Schengen flights. Most of the restaurants, cafes and shops are concentrated in complexes 2A and 2B, so it is better to transfer a long wait for a flight there. Here you can choose traditional souvenirs, and what to bring from Budapest, we have already told.

The city can be reached in several ways:

  1. Railway. Trains run between the capital's Western Station and Terminal 1. The interval is 25 minutes. The ticket price is within 3 euros. You can buy a ticket on the platform, in the terminal building or from the conductor.
  2. Shuttles, buses and minibuses. Bus number 200E leaves for Budapest every 10 minutes. The point of arrival is the Köbana-Kishpest metro station. As for the shuttles, they stop near each terminal (in front of the entrance).
  3. Taxi. You don't need to pre-order. Go to the parking lot near the main terminal and you will be happy. The fare is 15-18 euros.

Hungarian shuttles are analogues of our minibuses. If you do not want to overpay for the services of taxi drivers, you can order a shuttle directly to the hotel of your choice. Minibuses ride around the clock, and you can book one of them on the resource www.airportshuttle.hu. It's best to work together on this.

You can book a minibus just for yourself and shell out 20 euros. Or you can chip in with other passengers (the total amount will not exceed 30 euros) and get where you need to for pennies.

Here is a list of services at the airport terminals:

  • currency exchangers (nine points);
  • car rental;
  • free Wi-Fi;
  • round-the-clock bars and restaurants;
  • ATMs;
  • storage rooms;
  • free carts.

Another large airport terminal is located near the town of Debrecen. Distance - 6 kilometers. According to IATA, Debrecen has the code DEB, according to ICAO - LHDC. Reference number: +36 52 521 192. The online scoreboard is presented on the official Debrecen resource: www.debrecenairport.com.

The airport terminal is considered the "eastern gate" of Hungary, as it is located in close proximity to the borders of Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine. Charter and regular flights are accepted here.

The best way to fly to Debrecen is via Bremen and Munich. The airport is also connected with Turkey, Bulgaria and Egypt. The city can be reached by taxi and regular bus.

Within the airport you will find:

  • three-star hotel;
  • travel agencies;
  • banks;
  • the shops;
  • first-aid post;
  • cafes and restaurants;
  • convenient parking.

The last international terminal in this section is Pec-Pogan. The name of the airport, you see, is rather strange. The airport terminal is located nine kilometers from the town of Pecs. Charter flights arrive here extremely rarely. The airport is used for the needs of private air transportation. The information desk answers by number: + (36 72) 52 6140. Official resource: www.airport-pecs.hu. Tourists get to the town by rented cars and taxis. Read the conditions in our previous article.

If we summarize the information received, we can draw a simple conclusion - only Debrecen and Franz Liszt deserve attention. These airports are easy to get to, and there are high-quality communications with nearby settlements. There is a good selection of airlines that you can use.

Hungarian airports on the map

We have marked all the airports discussed above on the map of Hungary, so choose the best route and suitable hotels. A special place is occupied by the Heviz-Balaton air terminal, but we will write about this place in the next section.

End point - Lake Balaton

The balneological resort of Heviz, as you know, is located near Lake Balaton, so you need to fly there through one “air gate”. Heviz is popular far beyond the borders of Hungary. The lake is fed by a powerful underground source, so that the water is updated daily.

If you are tired of recovering, you can give up on Balaton. Information about treatment at Lake Balaton. Sarmellek Airport is located near Balaton and Heviz, it is he who serves both of these tourist destinations.

Lake Balaton Sarmellek is 15 kilometers away. A kilometer from the terminal, the cozy village of Sharmellek is localized, after which the terminal is named. Every week, Moscow planes arrive in Heviz-Balaton.

Between the airport and Heviz lies 10 kilometers. Thoughtful transport links allow you to easily come to this balneological center. The airport is connected to Heviz by regular buses and taxis. If desired, you can rent a car. The base airline is Lufthansa. According to IATA, the airport is marked with the code SOB, according to the ICAO system - LHSM. You can contact the help desk at: +36 83 355 500. The arrivals / departures board is presented on the official resource: www.hevizairport.com.

By the way, eleven kilometers from Sharmellek is another popular resort town - Keszthely. You can get there by taxi or by bus that stops in front of the terminal. If your goal is resorts, and there is limited time left for sightseeing in the capital, then find out if you will be able to visit the main interesting places.

If you don't like Sharmellek's rare direct connection to Moscow, you can choose one of the connecting options:

  • Dusseldorf;
  • Hamburg;
  • Leipzig;
  • Dresden;
  • Berlin.

Another way to leave Sarmellek is to use the railway transport services. You have two stations to choose from - Balatonszentgyörgy and Keszthely.

An important point: Sarmellek Airport has a seasonal schedule. This means that the arrival of flights will be different in spring-summer and autumn-winter.

Laying the best route from Moscow

Hungary becomes popular among Muscovites in autumn (September-October) and at the very beginning of winter (December). It's strange, but true. At this time, it becomes much more difficult to get tickets.

Wizz Air and Aeroflot fly to Budapest daily. Planes take off from Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports. As docking points, our compatriots often choose:

  • Belgrade;
  • Minsk;
  • Prague;
  • Munich;
  • Warsaw;
  • Copenhagen.

As for Balaton and Heviz, direct flights by UTair remain the best offer so far. One way really fly for 109 euros. A round trip ticket will empty your wallet for 209 euros. True, this is a base fare that does not include various airport charges and taxes. You need to focus on 14-15 thousand rubles - this is the total cost of air tickets. UTair flights start from Vnukovo on Sundays.

And now the news of the day. Another company that operates direct flights between Moscow and Balaton is Yakutia. The program is charter, the planes take off from their dear Vnukovo. Returning from vacation, do not forget to buy presents for loved ones, what souvenirs to bring from Hungary.

Direct flights from Moscow are operated by Wizz Air and Aeroflot.

If you want to save money, here are some helpful tips:

  1. Buy tickets in advance (and round trip).
  2. Choose connecting routes.
  3. Keep an eye out for the best deals (they pop up on Saturdays, Wednesdays and Tuesdays).
  4. Track promotions.
  5. Fly economy class.
  6. A good solution is charters and low-cost airlines.

Summarize. Hungary offers its guests five international air terminals, but only three are suitable for ordinary Muscovites. These are Franz Liszt, Heviz-Balaton and Debrecen (to a lesser extent).

The best option is to settle in the vicinity of Lake Balaton, and visit Budapest visiting numerous sights. By the way, domestic flights run between Franz Liszt and Heviz-Balaton, so Budapest can be considered as a connecting link. Have a nice trip!
