Greece or Spain which is better for young people. Greece, Italy, Spain - entertaining statistics about life, leisure and real estate . Entertainment and nightlife

What is cheaper Italy or Greece?
Where is it better to go on vacation - to Italy or to Greece?
Where is the sea and beaches better - in Italy or Greece?

These are quite popular questions on the Internet.
True, instead of Greece, Spain appears in these issues.
I exclude Spain, since a seaside vacation in this country with a 5-hour flight can replace some Dubai: the scorched natural texture will be the same. Sea and climate too.

Italy or Greece

Therefore, for this example of “Italy or Greece beach vacation”, I will take approximately the same villages, if I may say so.
(Greece) and (Italy).

Both regions are approximately the same distance for air travel (3.5 - 4 hours) and both options are in the waters of the global Mediterranean Sea.

With only one marine difference: the Aegean Sea is the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea (Chalkidiki), and the Tyrrhenian Sea (Calabria) is its central part.

Written based on a beach holiday in July:

Sea in Greece and Italy

The Tyrrhenian Sea is more open and prone to waves and currents.
Sardinia and Sicily cannot protect the coast of Calabria from waves in a westerly wind.

The sea in the Calabria region is less clean and more exciting.
The sea in the area of Sithonia is cleaner and calmer.

Beaches in Greece and Italy

All beaches in Halkidiki are free.
Parking may be paid, but these are rare exceptions - as a rule, you can park the car on the side of the road or drive off to a wasteland in front of the beach.

The beaches in Calabria are also free. There are paid areas where you pay for a sun lounger and an umbrella.

But most of the parking is paid. You can not pay in the parking lot, but then there is a chance to get a penalty receipt for the janitor.

Apartments in Greece and Italy.

And in Greece and Italy, you can run into the Crimean-Spanish version of housing, when the apartment is furnished with furniture from the garbage heap. In both Italy and Greece, you can get a bed with a sagging mattress and with holes in the bed linen. Therefore, only experience and some options from the past will help here. Or recommendations.

I noticed that in Italy you can often see a shower cabin in the bathroom.
In Greece, in the old fashioned way, they use a curtain in the bathroom, which tends to stick to the body. Modern plumbing is rare in Greece.

In Italy, there will be no kettle in the kitchen and evening tea will have to be prepared in a saucepan, and it will have to be poured into coffee cups.

Perhaps in Italy there is some kind of unspoken rule, but the knives will be small and blunt, but there will always be a corkscrew.

Although in Greece this also occurs, but less often.
But I have never met apartments in Greece where you need to come with your own bed linen and towels. And in Calabria (through one) apartments suggest this or charge 10 euros per set.

Nutrition. Restaurants in Greece and Italy.

In Italy, restaurants are open for lunch (lunch) from 12:00 to 14:30. Then the restaurants will be closed until 19:00. In Greece, taverns are open at a convenient time for you.

If you want to dine in Greece, come any time. Order from the menu - there is no menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner like in Italy: if you want a piece of meat - you can order it at 9 in the morning. In Italy, coffee and a bun will be waiting for you.

Menu in Calabria: no meat at all. And if there is, it will be roast beef of terrible quality and clumsily prepared.
The menu includes standard seafood starters (mussels, squid, octopus, sardines) in vinegar or tomatoes with mozzarella, which you will hate on the third day.

Pasta with shells, pasta with unpeeled shrimp, pasta with both. Parmesan, as you know, is not served with seafood pasta. Garlic or basil or oregano? No, they didn't hear about it in Calabria.

The second dish is grilled fish: it will be a piece of fish without taste (it turns out that in Italy they know how to spoil fish by grilling it without adding spices).
Grill a whole fish? In salt or in foil - No, it's not accepted that way.

The menu in Greece is simple and clear:
Tzatziki, eggplant and grilled peppers, Greek salad, tomato salad with cucumbers - floating in olive oil.

Meat in any form: meatballs, stuffed peppers, beef stroganoff, stew in a pot, eggplant stuffed with meat.

Always available 3 types of meat: chicken, beef, lamb or pork.
Whole grilled fish. 50 to 50 will bring fried in a pan. Grilled octopus. Kebab skewers (giru).

Shops in Greece and Italy

In Italy, grocery stores (not supermarkets) are open from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 16:00 to 20:00.
In Greece, grocery stores are open from morning to evening (without lunch).

Wine in Greece and Italy

In Italy, bottled wine is wine.
In Greece, you can buy poison in a bottle.
However: in restaurants in Italy and taverns in Greece, a jug of wine will be good, just in time for the meal.

Prices in Greece and Italy

Probably the most interesting for many.
Italy is more expensive.
Not much for housing.
For food in restaurants - 2 times.

The glade that we order for dinner in Greece costs about 40-45 euros.
Meager tasteless food for dinner in Italy from 80 euros.

Fruit in specialized shops in Calabria is more expensive than in similar shops in Sithonia.
I measure with watermelons: Toroni (Greece) 0.29 euros per kg. The same in Scilla (Italy): 0.85 per 1 kg

Prices for air tickets to Greece and Italy from Russia can be compared to: see flights Moscow - Thessaloniki and Moscow - Catania (from Catania you will have to pay an extra 35 euros for moving to Calabria by ferry)

See website for housing prices. booking com(everything is very individual here: someone wants to be on the first line, someone is satisfied with the size of a room of 20 sqm)

Car rental prices are about the same.
You can check yourself for .

For Italy, budget for speeding, ZTL or illegal parking fines in your holiday budget. In Greece, this article can be neglected.

Pluses of Calabria, not mentioned before.

In addition to beaching, you can see the beautiful nature of old cities.
There is something to photograph besides beach nature, if the beach is in the city - for example, in Shilla.

Pros of Halkidiki

You can just relax by the sea.
The sea is good, beautiful - which in itself is worthy of a photo.

Other European countries with access to the sea are not considered by me - I have been to these countries on the beaches and have already compared.
I don’t even indicate that it is Portugal, France, Slovenia, Montenegro, Albania, Bulgaria or Cyprus.

Nevertheless, for me it remains a country where I come several times a year: wander around the cities, go skiing, buy a thread of clothes, drink and eat (this is only in northern Italy, not south of Rome).

Both of these resorts are equally popular with Russian tourists, each of these places has a number of its own advantages and features. But to compare Spain with Greece, at least, is not correct, and we won’t do it, just look at these resorts through the eyes of the tourists themselves, so that everyone can determine for themselves what suits them best.

Where is the best beach holiday in Spain or Greece? There is no unequivocal answer to this question and never will be, these are different countries and holidays in them are also different. . For example, consider the coast from the Costa Bravo to the Costa del Sol. As a rule, these are wide, long sandy beaches, quite equipped and comfortable, some of them have a length of several hundred kilometers. Along the entire coast of the Mediterranean Sea of Spain there are hotels that are separated from the sea by a railway track. Attributing them to the hotels of the first line can only be a stretch. By the way, the noise from the trains is almost inaudible and this does not interfere with a relaxing holiday. The rest is much more disturbed by the "reckless" youth vacationing in Spanish resorts. Spain is a holiday, parties, eternal fun and modern outdoor activities. , this is a quiet village, a calm and measured rest for peace of mind and contemplation. Holidays in Greece are more homely, not party-like. In Spain, everything is more expensive, and the infrastructure is more developed.

Spain. Salou

Spain. Lloret de Mar

Hotels on the coast of Spain are mostly high-rise and designed for a large number of tourists. Finding a small hotel with no more than 100 rooms is not easy. Unlike Spain, hotels in Greece are not large, more intimate and no higher than 2-4 floors due to frequent earthquakes. Spain is characterized by "anthill hotels". If we consider a vacation spot in terms of price-quality ratio, then Spain wins with a vengeance. However, at the same time, finding a picturesque place with cozy coves without multi-storey concrete hotels on the shore is not easy, and sometimes completely impossible.

In Spain, all the beaches are long and wide. There are no such beaches in Greece due to the numerous bays and bays. Rocky shores with bays and secluded beaches are rare in Spain, they can only be found on islands such as Ibiza, Tenerife, Minorca and Mallorca. In Greece, on the contrary, coves and small sandy beaches are a priority, and many kilometers of beaches are a rarity here. Greece, unlike Spain, is a country of numerous islands, where a priori there are no long beaches. There are a lot of beaches remote from civilization, which can only be reached by car. Hotels in such places may not exist at all. This situation is typical for the entire island part of Greece and some mainland resorts.

Greece. Myrtos beach.

Holidays in Greece can be called contemplative and more relaxed, in contrast to the party and more active in Spain. By the way, both here and there in many resorts you can meet with quite violently resting young people who walk and come off until the morning at numerous discos and clubs. In fairness, it should be noted that in Greece there are much fewer such places.

The swimming season in Greece and Spain starts approximately the same, from mid-June, when the water temperature already rises to + 22-23 degrees. The exception, perhaps, is the Greek island of Crete, where the water temperature at this time can be a couple of degrees higher than in Spanish resorts. As for private private beaches, there are none in Spain or Greece, all beaches are municipal and accessible to all categories of vacationers. Typical for Spain, these are multi-row lines of sun loungers with umbrellas located at a considerable distance from the coast. In Greece, the beaches are not wide, there are many bizarre grottoes and bays among the rocky shores with crystal clear water. In such places it is interesting to swim with a mask. Greece is very easy to travel by car.

Recently, more and more of our compatriots are able to afford the purchase of real estate abroad. Of course, the leading positions are occupied by the countries of the Mediterranean basin: Italy, Spain, Greece and Turkey. And, no wonder. Warm sea, lots of sun, clean sandy beaches, ancient history, luxurious architecture and, of course, the alluring attraction of the European Union. For many potential buyers, only one question remains open: “Which country to choose?”.

In other articles from this section, we conducted a comparative analysis of real estate in Spain with similar properties in Turkey and Italy. Now consider another European country that attracts foreign buyers - Greece. We will talk about some factors that will help potential buyers make the right decision.

Greece

Spain

Economic situation

For the past 6 years in a row, the country has been experiencing a stable recession, which the Greek government has not yet been able to control. The default of the state was avoided only thanks to solid financial injections from other large eurozone states. By the end of the summer of 2013, the unemployment rate in the country reached a record level of more than 27%, and the recession in the economy was 6%. The policy of total economy causes sharp protests of the population. Although, according to the head of the Greek government, the situation will stabilize in 2014 and economic indicators will begin to grow again. This makes Greek real estate more attractive in price, but at the same time reduces the demand for it from foreigners due to the uncertainty of the country's development in the future. Spain is also going through hard times, although the situation here is noticeably better. The recession in the economy is much lower than in Greece (only 1.3% per year), the unemployment rate is also high - about 26% (the second indicator among the Eurozone states). At the same time, positive trends are observed, and for 2014 the government plans to increase GDP indicators. Another difference from Greece is the fact that the flow of tourists to the Iberian kingdom has not only not decreased, but, on the contrary, has increased markedly. And after a significant fall in real estate prices, the demand for it, especially among foreign buyers, begins to grow gradually. It is clear that few people doubt the potential of tourism in Spain.

Standard of living

According to the Better Life Index, the Greek state showed quite good results in the field of health, education, and the environment. Although according to the results of the same study in other indicators, it is significantly inferior to other states of the Eurozone. The indicator of "housing conditions" in the country is two times lower than in Spain. Most of the housing stock is outdated, the pace of construction of new comfortable real estate is low. Wages are low here, and the level of dissatisfaction with life is high.

According to the calculations given on the Numbeo.com service, Greece ranks 46th in the quality of life index.

According to the results of the same study (Better Life Index), Spain is ahead of Greece in almost all indicators. Housing conditions in the Iberian kingdom are much higher, as well as the environment, incomes of the population and satisfaction of citizens.

The quality of life index in Spain according to Numbeo.com is more than twice as high - 21 lines in the world ranking.

Real estate prices

The long-term financial crisis in the country provoked a significant drop in property prices. According to the Numbeo.com service, the cost per square meter of housing in Greece is:
  • in prestigious areas €1927.5;
  • in less prestigious €1632.65;
  • mortgage rate - 5%;
  • rental income - 3.28%.
The consequences of the crisis also pulled down the price of Spanish property. Its value in some positions has lost more than 50% of its peak levels. According to the same service, the cost per square meter of housing is:
  • in prestigious resort areas €3000;
  • in less prestigious €2000;
  • mortgage rate - 3.90%;
  • rental yield - 4.17%.

Real estate purchase costs

  • Tax on the purchase of real estate;
  • Registration fee in the register - 1%;
  • Lawyer services - 1.5-2% (of the market value of the object);
  • Notary expenses - 2% of the cadastral value of the object;
  • Realtor services - up to 3% of the real value of the property (paid by the buyer).
  • Tax on the transfer of ownership - 8% of the cadastral value;
  • VAT - 10% in case of buying housing in a new building;
  • Tax on paperwork - 1%;
  • Notary fees - 1%;
  • Registry fees - 0.05%;
  • Commission agencies - 2% (paid by the seller).

Infrastructure

Recently, worsening problems in the economy have severely curtailed the government's ability to finance other projects, such as road repairs and construction. The quality of the road surface here has noticeably suffered, and many complain about the lack of thought of the entire road infrastructure. In terms of quality and road safety, Greece is in first place from the end. Since tourism is an important source of income for the Spanish budget, the government is doing a lot to improve recreational infrastructure, including road infrastructure. The quality of roads here is much better than in Greece. Everything else: parking, markings, road junctions, traffic culture, everything meets the highest standards.

As we have seen, in Greece, house prices are much lower, although the taxes associated with its acquisition are slightly higher. Mortgages are also more expensive here and rental returns are lower. In terms of quality of life, infrastructure, income of the population, this country is also significantly inferior to the Kingdom of Spain. And in terms of tourist attractiveness, Spain left the Greek state far behind.

In this article, we analyzed various qualitative indicators, examined the profitability of investing in real estate in these two European countries. Now it's up to you to decide whether to buy property in Spain or choose a Bulgarian destination for investment.

Holidays in Greece and/or other Mediterranean countries
So, another vacation. The last trip to Turkey with Tez tour (Eka Tour agency) to the Ozkaymak Marina hotel led to an unequivocal conclusion: “We don’t need such a vacation.” The alternative arose with obviousness - Greece. Of the 3 tour operators, after comparing prices, they chose Golden Eagles, which they did not regret at all later. The first pleasant surprise was that Lilya and Lika patiently sat with us for 4 hours, trying to find exactly what would suit us, and not trying to sell what the travel agency needed. Picked up Paradise Royal Mare 5* in Rhodes. The criteria were as follows: a large green area, a good beach, a children's pool, slides, windsurfing, the ability to travel, guaranteed good service (I did not say that we have 2 children aged 13 and 5, in connection with which it was necessary to find something for the family- active). I must say that all of the above was justified in excess, for example, the number of pools turned out to be 10! The service was impeccable, the cuisine varied. In the evenings quite decent entertainment programs. The animators staged entire performances: the Olympic Games, the Moulin Rouge, etc. In addition to the animators, professional artists periodically performed with live music, dancing, etc. At night - a great disco. Periodically, we compared our impressions of holidays in Turkey, Spain and Greece (Rhodes - I note that we are talking only about this island). It turned out something like the following.
Hotel/territory. Spain (what we saw) is usually a small area, a city beach. Greece and Türkiye go side by side, they are geographically close. The vegetation on Rhodes is simply fantastic, the sea is amazingly clean. The coastline is a combination of sandy beaches and rocks. There are places to swim and things to see. Rhodes resembles Kemer, only the vegetation is more diverse.
When choosing between Spain and Greece, decide in advance what you want to get from your vacation. If this is a visit to historical sites, then in Greece you need to fly to the mainland (preferably closer to the capital), but in Spain they are everywhere. If these are beaches, then the matter is delicious, but I personally didn’t like the Greek ones.
If you are flying on vacation to relax, not to think about anything, to enjoy the fact that everything is inclusive, then this method is available in both countries, but in Greece it is more common.
If you will travel a lot around the country, it is better to choose Spain, because. life in its different corners differs more significantly.
Both in Spain and Greece, the locals speak excellent English, and hotel staff often speak Russian. In both countries, hotels are more like city hotels, even if they have swimming pools, animation, and many bars. The fact is that land in Europe is expensive, so you will rarely find hotels with a huge area, as, for example, in Egypt and Turkey.
By the way, in Greece there are fewer beaches marked with blue flags than in Spain: by about 30–40 percent (depending on the year).
Prices within the country. for food, for goods in stores, for travel. There is some difference here: in Greece it is now very inexpensive to eat in a restaurant. But in Spain it is much cheaper than in Moscow. Transport is also a little cheaper. Car rental is cheaper. Only the prices in stores are about the same.
Thus, if the task is to reduce the cost of the trip as much as possible, then Greece should be preferred. And specifically the island of Crete. But if there is no strict need to save every penny, then when choosing a country for a holiday, we will focus on other parameters.
Spain vs Greece = City vs Village?
It seems to me that the defining difference between Greece and Spain lies in the fact that the most attractive places in the Iberian Peninsula in terms of tourism are cities: large and small, historical and modern. In Greece, the opposite is true: tourists go to the local villages for color. Cities also seem too chaotic. Of course, there are some very nice rural places in Spain. But the main part of tourists does not want to go there. They are attracted by lively boulevards, historical quarters, embankments and beaches of Barcelona, parks and museums of Madrid, the sights of beautiful Seville, the mysteries of amazing Granada, the afternoon silence of small towns. In Greece, of course, there is Athens. The importance of this city cannot be overestimated. But personally, I have not met tourists who would like to visit Athens again and again. More often they are limited to one sightseeing trip. What other major Greek cities do we know? Thessaloniki and Heraklion - because a plane flies there from Moscow. Yes, these cities have attractions. But tourists rarely come to spend a week in Thessaloniki, but trips to Greek villages, on the contrary, are very popular. No wonder, because every village in Greece welcomes tourists with open arms, offering them to visit the oldest (or the newest, beautiful or rich in history) church, the largest plane tree or the oldest olive tree, taste the honey and wine that are produced only here, sit in a wonderful family tavern (there are no bad taverns in Greek villages), buy some towels that are woven only in this place and in a very special way.
In general, in my opinion, in Greece the village dominates, and in Spain the city. Even in the agricultural regions of Spain, for example, in Andalusia, we visit cities first of all. In Greece, especially on the islands, cities have not received such a powerful development. And now Greece has realized that the village is attractive for tourists from big cities, exhausted by the fast-paced urban rhythm of life.
So, if, in addition to the beach, your soul asks for exhibitions of contemporary art, walks in the evening city and stay in an urban environment, go to Spain. Resorts located around Barcelona or Valencia are the best fit. If you crave peace and rural landscapes, go to any Greek resort. If at the same time you like to relax in discos, choose a large resort, if you urgently need silence, choose some small place, maybe on an island.
Movements around the country
If you are going on a sightseeing tour, you can omit this chapter. You will choose a tour for other reasons. The main thing is what sights are included in the program.
If you are going to a resort where you intend to take group excursions, thinking about the ease / complexity of moving around the country will also not be of interest to you.
But if you like to drive on your own, in long-distance transport or in a rented car, read. Here we will look at the difference between Spain and Greece for those who travel around the country or around the city on their own, without helpful guides.
The cost of renting a car in Greece and Spain is about the same. The rules are clear. An international driver's license is desirable, but not mandatory (there has been talk around lately that it is better to have an international driver's license when meeting with the police, while any rental company is fine). Roads are good everywhere. Well, except for Greek primers. But they are good too. There are many mountain roads in both countries. The observed difference is in the degree of difficulty in orienting by signs. If in Spain road signs are more or less close to the average European norm, then in Greece, especially on the islands, the signs are made in accordance with a logic alien to us. Often you have to drive closer to the sign, stop and think about what it could mean. However, you can get used to this.
Public transport can be used both in Greece and in Spain, but, frankly, in Spain it is easier to do this: all schedules are on the Internet, all information is easy to get at bus stops. Greece also has timetables. And often they are followed. But not always. tickets are sometimes sold in non-obvious places. However, you can also get used to this. Just keep in mind that when traveling in Spain you can completely rely on. In extreme cases, find a policeman and ask for directions. And an independent trip to Greece involves a lot of communication with the local population. Everyone will be happy to help you, but the road will always take longer than you expected. On small islands, this is all, however, it does not matter.
Hotels in Greece and Spain
If you like big hotels with good territory and various services, then choose a hotel, not a country. The only difference is that in Spain there are more high-rise hotels, while in Greece it is easier to find accommodation in bungalows. However, if you wish, you can also find a large low-rise hotel in Spain. Just see which hotel you like and suits you for the price.
If you choose a budget option or just want to stay in a small hotel, then there is a certain difference between Spain and Greece. In Spain, especially on the mainland, they tend to build high-rise hotels. Therefore, a small hotel will have at best 4-5 floors and a tiny area with a small pool. In the worst case, there will be 10-12 floors. But that's not the point, is it? Hotels in Spain mostly maintain standard quality, so it doesn't matter where you live, if you are going not to sit in a hotel.
There are many more really small hotels in Greece, often with only 10-15 rooms. The owner of such a hotel often seeks to bring some zest. In one case, it may be an unusually large swimming pool for such a hotel, in another - its own garden, the products from which are served in a cafe at the hotel, in the third - unusual balconies or something. In general, the need for inventions is cunning. Of course, the larger the resort and the closer to the beach, the more impersonal the hotels look. But even here it all depends on the specific owner.
Food in Greece and Spain
For many tourists, food is an essential issue on vacation. Do you love all inclusive turkish style? You should not look for anything similar either in Spain or in Greece. In these countries, "all inclusive" is much more ascetic. Except, perhaps, very expensive hotels. However, it seems to me that going to Spain or Greece, which is around the clock from the buffet, is not a good idea. You will miss the chance to get a real taste of Greek or Spanish cuisine, which are famous all over the world. Both cuisines are based on the use of olive oil, fresh vegetables and lots of herbs. Both there and there seafood is popular. Meat is also respected. The cuisine of large hotels, especially those operating on an all-inclusive basis, has an average international taste, although with a local touch. Therefore, I usually try to dissuade tourists from eating only in a hotel. Both Greece and Spain have many attractive cafes and restaurants. True, they have a slightly different meaning. A beach bar in Spain ("chiringuito") is exactly a beach bar, you will not get anything but drinks, chips and ice cream there. But what an atmosphere in these Spanish beach bars! If an institution in Spain is called a restaurant, then this is a restaurant, with all the accompanying surroundings. You will be fed and served exactly as in a restaurant, with due respect and with a decent waiting time for dishes. But if you come at an odd hour of the siesta, then the cooks will not specially cook for you. You will be offered a selection of snacks and drinks. In any case, you won't leave hungry. In Greece, especially in cities and large resorts, there are also such restaurants. But the country is famous not for restaurants, but for taverns. The tavern, especially somewhere in the village, is family-run, and the whole family will serve you, including the ancient grandfather, who is the only one who knows how to cook extraordinarily delicious lamb ribs, and the teenage grandson, who helps in the kitchen and is generally in the wings. If you happen to visit the same tavern for the second time, the hostess herself will offer rakia and show photographs of her younger grandchildren.
To summarize, in a Spanish restaurant you are a respected customer, and in a Greek restaurant you are a guest of the family. These rules, of course, have exceptions, but are generally followed.
Cultural program and nightlife
Under the cultural program, we will consider not visiting historical sights, which are in great abundance both in Spain and Greece, but some exhibitions, performances, events that you want to visit during your vacation. After all, if a person wants to see, say, the Alhambra in Granada, it is obvious that he will go to Spain. Similarly, those wishing to see Delphi or the Acropolis will go to Greece. But there is a class of people who, on vacation, like to visit, for example, photo exhibitions, street performances, music festivals ... - They do not specifically time their vacation to the event, but if something interesting happens around, they will definitely take part. In my opinion, Spain is more suitable for these tourists. In the major cities of the country, you can always find an interesting cultural program, and if you go, say, to Andalsia, in the summer you can take part in local city holidays - ferias, which take place here and there all summer. In Greece, of course, there are also events. There are museums in large cities, and there are exhibitions in museums. But how many of those large cities ... - However, a lot of different things happen in Athens and Thessaloniki. Choose a resort closer to these cities (it's not easy), and you will have your favorite cultural events at least every day.
Nightlife - bars, dances on the beach, discos - is both in Spain and in Greece. The main thing is to choose the right resort. In Spain, I recommend the island of Ibiza or the resort of Magaluf on the island of Mallorca to those who like to have fun at night, and in Greece, the resort of Malia on the island of Crete. Kassandra also has fun places. And near Athens.
Islands
If you are interested in an island vacation, then Greece and Spain can offer a wide variety of options. True, the Spanish islands - the Canaries and the Baleares - can be easily listed, while the Greek islands are innumerable. If the heat is contraindicated for you, and you want to relax in the summer, then go to the Canary Islands. The easiest way to get from Moscow to Tenerife, but Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote can also come up. The Canary archipelago is located near the coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean, where the weather and cool water are approximately the same all year round. The infrastructure on the islands is well developed. It is possible to find a quiet secluded place, but if you wish, you can quickly break your seclusion. Fans of parties and nightlife are ideal for Ibiza and some beaches of Mallorca. The Greek islands are all different. There is a huge Crete where everyone can find what they are looking for: wild fun or peace, picturesque beaches or shopping centers. There are smaller islands well developed in terms of tourism: Corfu, Rhodes, Kos. And there are many very small islands, on many of which the tourist infrastructure is in its infancy. But it is precisely for the sake of some remoteness from civilization that it is worth going here.
Vacation with children
Since I myself happened to vacation with my own children both in Spain and in Greece, I can say that the children's infrastructure in Spain is somewhat better developed. At least in Catalonia for sure. Playgrounds are everywhere, playgrounds indicate the recommended age of children, shopping centers and restaurants often have play areas. In Greece, too, they love children very much. Children are welcome everywhere, they are given high chairs in cafes and an additional dessert from the institution, in some places restaurants have playgrounds. But in other places, a playground still needs to be found. And when you find it, you will find that it is often quite minimalistic: swings + carousels + slide. Moreover, all this is practically not serviced and is often broken. You will not see huge Spanish gaming complexes in Greece. However, this is not a problem if your children know how to enjoy the sea-sand-grass-insects-snails. If you prefer to spend evenings with children on large playgrounds, Spain will suit you more. And with specialized baby food in Spain, it seemed to me, simpler. That is, if you have a small child who is accustomed to certain types of instant cereals and purees, you will be more likely to find all this in Spain. But in Greece, everything is simple and natural, so there is no need for any special children's products.
Spain and Greece in light of the economic crisis
Last year, as well as this year, many tourists are afraid to travel to these countries, as they are worried that something will happen during their trip, and, for example, bank cards will no longer be accepted, or there will be a strike that will prevent them get to the airport on time, or there will be nowhere to eat. Yes, these fears are not unfounded. But both Spain and Greece are now in dire need of tourists, and the governments of both countries are making every effort to ensure that the internal problems of tourists are not affected. When you buy a tour to a hotel in Greece or Spain, which is better with a transfer from a tour operator, there is very little chance that a strike of some taxi drivers will affect you. You will be met by a private bus with a private driver, placed in a hotel, from where no one will drive you out into the street. During strikes, airlines try to cancel flights from tourist-bearing countries to a minimum. The Spanish airline Iberia, for example, canceled mostly domestic flights during strikes. But, of course, there is always a risk. Therefore, when paying for the record low cost of a tour to Greece or Spain this summer, remember that it would be nice to play it safe and take some cash with you. In case you refuse to accept the card somewhere. Or suddenly there will be a sudden strike of hotel workers (that's why I'm for small hotels: they don't strike!) - to eat in a nearby cafe. By the way, so far the news about strikes in hotels comes only from Cyprus, which has always been a stronghold of respectable tourism. And the Greeks and Spaniards are trying very hard not to damage tourism.
