What does the liner look like? What does the largest cruise ship in the world look like? Equipment for cruise ship cabins

Most of those who are on a large cruise ship (like this) for the first time often have the same question: "How does so much fit in here?"
That's a good question. But, in fact, there are no special miracles, all this is engineering. Which in our time has reached dangerous heights. We have not achieved much, so our lot is to enjoy the journey and make sure that the head does not turn away. And there is a whole bag of interesting things on a modern cruise liner. And I will definitely tell you about everything. You, dear reader, have a wonderful opportunity to walk with me through this gigantic structure. As I said, you experience something special at the same time ... Considering that not everyone was there, but many would like to know ... Especially now, when everything outside the window is littered with snow - I especially want to go on a trip across the blue sea ... Under blue skies. Well, cruises are now available like never before... Welcome aboard Costa Concordia!

our story was interrupted by the fact that we Mary decided to take a nap. But the thirst for knowledge did not allow me to sleep a wink, and I set off to explore our houseboat ...

Here he is - our handsome man (or is it still a beauty?) In the context. Yes, the bowl is not small. I look at her like my own...

And such a scheme hangs already on every floor. Passengers are also given a special book-scheme. To not get lost.
Each deck has its own name. On Concordia, these are the names of countries. The main deck, as you might guess, is called Greece. It has a lot of things and from here you can go almost anywhere. Except perhaps the upper deck... Well, let's take a walk...

However, I remembered that for Russian-speaking travelers - a meeting with our hostess - Rita. So I quickly ran up the stairs to the floor above...

Rushed past the arcade...

In addition to me and my wife, among the thousands of foreigners, there were still Russians - seventy people. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we almost did not communicate with them. There was a certain element of closeness among compatriots or something ... We did not impose ourselves.

To the question of translation difficulties... In the Cruise there are practically no problems with the language. All staff will be happy to accommodate you. In addition, for the majority - English is also not a native language ...
In addition, you can always turn to the good Rita. She really does look a lot like a fairy. We really liked her ... And our first acquaintance looked something like this:

With great interest, I listened to all the rules, once again noted to myself how everything is thought out here over the years of working with people ... I was a little sad for the domestic level of service ...
He drove away sad thoughts and looked around ... Everywhere - it was very good. Almost at every step there were smiling uncles at the piano ...

In other places it smelled of delicious coffee ...

Something like a dance floor - I decided. As it turned out later - I was not mistaken. Berlin Grand Bar. It is here that various evening contests are held, which, if you look at the right angle, you can get a lot of pleasant minutes. And even participate...

Domino players and in Italy - domino players.

As I continued to view the ship, I was very impressed with the liner's lights in the main foyer.

It is easy to guess that in the heart of Costa Concordia there is a bar called Europa bar. There are central elevators, live music and the main entrance to the ship.

The chandeliers constantly changed their color... For some reason, I got green all the time...

The Italians are the masters of lighting fixtures.

Everything is designer handmade.

Seeing such handles on the doors, one cannot but enter the room in front of which they are installed...

And of course it's a library!

It's nice to know that on any cruise ship there is always a library. In which you can always retire. Escape, so to speak, from the hustle and bustle...

Somehow, by themselves, my legs led me to a souvenir shop ...

Everything here is on a level - everyone can find their own piece of Concordia...

Branded paraphernalia is present even on sleeping bags.

Toy liners fly like hot cakes...

The hall is equipped with the latest technology...

It can be seen that they are accustomed not to save on spectacles ...

It is understandable - the traveler should not be bored ... The stairs are wide ...

About a thousand people fit in the hall. Not bad for a performance on the high seas!

The show goes on every evening. Twice. For everyone to be able to see. The performances are different - dancing, singing, tricks, ventriloquists - everything is very cool! I'll touch on this one more...

In a word, it is very, very difficult to get bored on Concordia. Everything here is grown-up!

Another design decision on the wall. Theatrical theme...

The staircase next to the auditorium is decorated accordingly.

In general, walking along the corridors, you have to get used to the idea that you are hundreds of kilometers from the coast...

Very strong feeling of comfort throughout.

A perfume shop or a toilet is no different from the same as, say, in any large shopping complex. Well, except that the toilets are arranged in a special way and the cleanliness around ...

The already mentioned Bar Europa. In the evenings, Italians gather here and sing along with the artists. A very vocal nation. It is no coincidence that until recently their passports even had a heading "voice".

And if you lift your head up, you can see a huge map of Europe. Even the Motherland can be completely seen ... And Moscow, and St. Petersburg, and Odessa ...

Somewhere in the sky you can see a piece of the sky... We will go up there again...

Meanwhile, in the central foyer, there is a brisk trade ...

Here is gold. But not in weight, but in length. As much as you need, so much will be cut off. Wear on health - eternal metal!.

Here's the damn tobacco. Two euros - for a pack of poison ..

A sea vessel is a duty-free zone, so duty free lovers stock up on booze and smoke here. Profitable.

What is nice - a pretty decent place in terms of area is allotted for photography. You can see how people respect frozen moments. By the way, it was here that we met Mashin, a countryman - a boy from Odessa. Helped us a lot...

The scheme of work of the local photo center, however, is quite typical: the photographer guards the vacationers, and then the pictures are put on display. Have to buy...

So-so ... What do we have here .. Let's look more closely ...

Oops! Just some sea wolves!

Imagine a Las Vegas block that floats from city to city. Imagine a ship for 7,500 people, of which 2,500 are employees and staff. Add to that an ice skating rink, volleyball and basketball courts, a golf course, bowling alley, climbing walls, fitness center, spa, infinity pools and you have the world's largest cruise ship, the Allure of the Seas.
A cruise liner is, in fact, several independent enterprises. One team is engaged in navigation, another in hotel and accommodation, the third feeds thousands of people every day, the fourth arranges and conducts entertainment, and so on. The life of such a sea monster is very complex and interesting.

1. This was my 15th or 16th cruise. I remember that even on large ships I sometimes got sick. Here, there is no feeling at all that you are in the open sea. The colossus is so huge that no pitching is felt at all. We went into a six-point storm, the waves were 4.2 meters high. The ship was motionless, like an Egyptian pyramid.

So that the place does not go to waste, it is used as a treadmill. Passengers of large ships often do this, but only here they specially marked out paths for running and walking. We even agreed on the direction so as not to collide with each other. Full circle - 700 meters.

In contact with

We invite you on a tour of the largest cruise ship on Earth called Allure of the Seas, which is a whole floating city.

Just imagine the comfortable quarter of Las Vegas, floating from city to city. Or try to imagine a ship designed for 7,500 people, 2,500 of which are personnel and employees. Add to them a real ice rink, basketball and volleyball courts, a bowling alley, a golf course, climbing walls, a spa, a fitness center, infinity pools and as a result you can get the largest cruise ship in the world. - Allure of the Seas.

In fact, a cruise liner is a number of independent enterprises. There is a team that is engaged in navigation, there is another one responsible for the hotel and accommodation, the third one feeds thousands of people every day, and the fourth one is engaged in entertainment for the guests of the ship, etc. The life of such a large-scale sea monster is truly complex and interesting.

People on large ships sometimes get quite sickly. Allure of the Seas does not create the feeling of being on the high seas at all. This colossus is so large that pitching is not felt at all. We sailed into a six-point storm when the waves reached 4.2 meters in height. The ship was motionless, like an Egyptian pyramid.

On each of the floors and in literally every lobby there are signs and original diagrams. Everything that is highlighted in white is a hotel, purple is public areas:

And this is the top deck:

There are a lot of public places here. It is simply impossible to bypass everything at once:

The liner is 2 parallel "houses", which are interconnected by jumpers - behind and in front. Between them is an empty space with a beautiful green area. Directly on the roofs of the "houses" there are pools with sun loungers:

There are a lot of pools, as they say, for every color and taste. There are children, adults, with slides, fountains, jacuzzis, etc.:

This is mini golf.

Volleyball and basketball courts:

There are several areas in which there are ping-pong tables:

Adrenaline lovers are offered Zip Line - downhill from one side of the ship to another along the cable:

There are even a couple of "waves" on which you can surf if you wish. At the same time, one is intended for beginners, and the other for advanced athletes:

...

The upper deck is equipped with "wings" protruding to the sides from the hull of the liner. Each of the wings has a pair of large jacuzzis. It's unusually cool: you lie in warm water at the height of the eighteenth floor above sea level, and look at the waves running below...

The nose of the liner. Several decks here are given over to the notorious public areas. The canopies are designed to provide maximum protection from the wind while maintaining the feeling of a completely open space:

Here, on the nose, there are also three pools:

...

Now let's see what this liner has between the "houses". At the stern there is a carousel, a park, a bar, and a cinema in the distance:

In the evenings, the cinema usually hosts acrobats from shows like the Cirque du Soleil.

On the other side lies Central Park - this is an open space on which trees stand and plants grow, equipped at the level of the eighth floor:

The green zone is divided into two sections by a jumper:

Now let's go down to the eighth floor:

For the walking area, glass roofs are provided (it is located three floors below). Here the streets are broken, the birds sing - a complete feeling of walking around the city is created:

In this area are famous international restaurants and shops.

Ship feed. There are two walls for climbers here.

Bars operating in Central Park:

And this is the cinema:

The deck, located at the 5th floor level, goes directly to the lifeboats. Walking all over the liner, it makes it possible to withdraw people in case of emergency. So that the place does not disappear in vain, it is used as a treadmill. This is quite often done by passengers on large ships, but only here were specially marked paths for sports walking and running. Here, even the direction is agreed, so as not to collide with each other. A full circle is seven hundred meters:

The ship's bow is occupied by a helipad, passengers are not allowed there. Playing a scene from the movie "Titanic" will not work:

It's the fifth floor down from Central Park. Shops, karaoke bars and even Starbucks:

And this is a rare car, apparently to give the local space luxury and chic:

On the fourth floor there are casinos and several nightclubs. Gambling establishments here open only when the ship leaves the territorial waters of a particular country. They do not work in the port:

The central hall where shows and concerts are held:

Excursions to the captain's bridge, unfortunately, no, but I was lucky to "cling" to a group of Spanish journalists, whose visit was agreed. The captain's bridge looked empty. The liner controls occupy only a very small area in the center of a huge area:

The ship is not controlled by the captain, but by the so-called. the first officer who gave us the tour. The officer's name is Gennady and he comes from Odessa. The ship has no steering wheel. The 3 propellers rotate a full 360 degrees and are set either manually using three rotators (see photo in the foreground) or by computer. The system constantly monitors the course and, if necessary, taxis:

Nearby is the command headquarters, which can be fenced off from the cabin of the captain with a partition. It duplicates literally all the organs for controlling an ocean liner:

When the ship is moored in the port, the officer uses the exits on the "wings" to the right and left:

There is also a control system here:

From this point, the ship's side is perfectly visible, which allows you to "park" without any incidents:

Allure of the Seas is the second Oasis-class cruise ship owned by Allure of the Seas Inc. and is operated by the operator Royal Caribbean International (it is assigned to the port of Nassau and sails with the flag of the Bahamas), and it was built five years ago in Turku (Finland) at the Aker Yards shipyards.

Along with its “twin”, Oasis of the Seas is by far the largest passenger ship in the world: the length of these cruise ships is about 360 meters.

The MSC Seaside cruise liner is a 20-deck hulk designed for year-round sea travel in the Caribbean.

chic pools

On deck 16, Miami Beach's long, narrow pool is surrounded by chic sun loungers that give the impression of a glamorous beach, albeit without sand. Nine decks below is the smaller South Beach pool. Not far from it is a spacious hall where you can drink a cocktail, listen to music and dance.

Panoramic glass elevators

Two panoramic glass elevators will take you up to deck 16, where there is a nearly 30 meter glass walkway called the Bridge of Sighs. The ocean view from here is amazing.

Water park and nightclubs

The highlight of the entertainment on the liner is one of the largest and most interactive water parks on the high seas. Despite the fact that the water park has only 4 slides, there is something to admire when you fly down the 160 meter transparent tube and jump out of it in the middle of the jungle, where all kinds of adventures await you.

You can't help but like surfing on a board equipped with an electric console. On it, surfers plunge into the abyss, where bright lights pulsate to the rhythm of electronic music. If not for splashes in the face, one would think that this is not boarding, but walking in a nightclub. In the water park, as elsewhere on the liner, instead of traditional key cards, bracelets are used that allow passengers to open their cabin, book a table in a restaurant and spa treatments, make payments and track children on board by geo-search, and most importantly save them from having to stand in line.

Jungle with swimming pool

Next to the water park is another pool, surrounded by tropical jungle. If you do not pay attention to the children squealing with delight, then here you calm down, comfortably sitting in a sun lounger among ferns, palm trees and bamboo trees. There is a bar with a rich selection of cocktails and hot tubs. When it rains, a large glass roof closes over the pool and jungle, and you continue to relax in the greenhouse with exotic plants and pool.

Rope attraction

From deck 19 to deck 16 you can go down the 105-meter cable car. During the descent, you can admire the heliport below and wave to all the sunbathers near the Miami Beach pool.

formula one

The ship has an F1 simulator on board. You get into a replica of a famous racing car, fasten your seat belt and go through a given track on a video monitor. During the passage, you forget that you are driving a simulator to such an extent everything is authentic. Of course, missing the corner here doesn't end in tragedy and the worst that can happen is your friends taunting you about your terrible driving.

Restaurants

On board the ship you will find bars and restaurants for every taste, which amaze with a wide range of dishes and drinks. There is an Asian restaurant created in collaboration with chef Roy Yamaguchi, a seafood-only restaurant, and a meat steakhouse restaurant. Prices will please you, lunch in any of the restaurants will cost about $39.

Promenade

The liner is framed by a magnificent panoramic promenade 323 meters long. It is designed for leisurely walks in the fresh air. You pass bars, restaurants, shops and sun loungers. The most impressive thing during the walk is the skywalk - a transparent glass floor along the side, through which you can see the ocean right below you.

XD Cinema

Fasten your seat belt, pick up a "gun" and go on a "fun" mission to save the world from terrible zombies. Creepy creatures will "eat" you and will not choke if you do not have time to pull the trigger in time. Don't want zombies? There are 3 other scenarios for the development of events.

luxury cabins

Cabins are located in two towers of passenger accommodation superstructures - at the bow and at the stern. They are spacious with huge floor-to-ceiling windows.

The price for accommodation during a 7-day Caribbean cruise starts at $449, the price of cabins with balcony access is about $900.

The design, food, water slides, rides and more on the liner make it worth taking a cruise and enjoying being close to the sun and the ocean.

For a person who has been on a cruise at least once, the questions of choosing a cabin no longer arise. But if you are going on your first cruise and are faced with the problem of choosing a cabin, this article is for you.

Equipment for cruise ship cabins

A cruise ship cabin is very similar to a hotel room, only usually smaller. The size of a standard cabin is 14-18 square meters(excluding suites).

Here you will find everything the same as in a hotel room: a bed, a desk with a chair, a large wardrobe for storing clothes, mirrors, bedside tables, a telephone, a TV, a safe for storing valuables. The temperature in the cabin is usually controlled by an individual thermostat. The beds in the cabins are usually collapsible, they can be pushed together in the form of a double bed, or separated separately. You do not need to move the beds yourself if you do not like their configuration. It is enough to ask the steward, and the next time the cabin is cleaned, he will do it for you.

Cabin cleaning

The cabin is cleaned twice a day. Each cabin is assigned a steward who cleans in the morning when you have breakfast and in the evening when you have dinner. Of course, if you wish, you can refuse cleaning and unnecessary anxiety by posting a "do not disturb" sign on the doorknob. Whether or not to tip the steward is up to you, but it is generally understood that they are included in the centralized service charge charged to each passenger

Bathroom in a cruise ship cabin

All cabins on cruise ships are equipped with private bathrooms. Bathrooms in standard cabins are usually equipped with showers to save space, but there are also full baths. The bathrooms are equipped with shampoo/shower gel dispensers, so there is no need to bring them with you. Pictured below is a standard bathroom on the MSC Divina cruise ship.

As you can see, there are towels, shampoo, shower gel, and a separate soap faucet in the sink + some accessories like shower caps on the shelf. To the right of the showerhead there is a pull-out rope for drying swimsuits and linen. The flush in the toilet, by the way, is vacuum, that is, water is sucked inward, as in an airplane. The first time you use it, it's a little intimidating.

The main types of cruise ship cabins

Of course, all cruise ships are different from each other, and even within the same ship there are many categories of cabins. But in general, they can all be reduced to 4 main types:

  • Inside cabins(English: Interior cabin,Inside cabin)
  • Cabins with a window or outside cabins (English: Outside cabin, Oceanview cabin)
  • Cabins with balcony(English: Balcony cabin,Verandah cabin)
  • Suites(Suites)

Let's take a closer look at each of them.

Inner cabin

Looking at the plan of the living deck of almost any liner, you can see that the cabins on it are located on both sides of two long corridors that run through the entire ship.

At the same time, some of the cabins look, as it were, inside the liner, and some outside. Those that look outward have the opportunity to make windows and balconies, since one of the walls of their cabin is, in fact, the outer skin of the liner. In those that look inward, it makes no sense to make windows, since the window will go into the interior of the liner, without sunlight, and you will not see anything interesting there. Hence the name - inside (inside) cabin

The main disadvantages of internal cabins are:

  • lack of windows
  • lack of sunlight (you always wake up in complete darkness in the morning)
  • small area of the cabin, interior cabins are almost always smaller than all the others

As you can see, there is very little free space here. If the two are more or less comfortable here, then it will be crowded with children. To accommodate children, interior cabins are usually equipped with folding shelves as in a train compartment. It looks like this:

On more expensive cruise lines, interior cabins can be a bit more spacious, sometimes with a seating area with sofa and coffee table.

Choose the inside cabin if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in it. If during the day you are going to spend time on excursions in the port, in the evening in the bars and restaurants of the liner, and only sleep in the cabin, then the inner cabin is what you need. Cheap and cheerful. And the sea air and views can be perfectly enjoyed on the open decks.

By the way, for some reason, many people think that the inner cabins are located below the ship's waterline, and therefore they are afraid to buy them. This is nonsense, all passenger cabins of cruise ships are located much higher waterline

Cabin with a window

Looks like this:

Its main advantage is, of course, the window. But you need to understand that it does not open. Airing the room with sea air will not work. But you can see where the liner is sailing, and in the morning you wake up not in pitch darkness, but from the rays of the sun

Window cabins tend to be larger than interior cabins. Here and in the examples above there is a seating area with a sofa. Both in terms of price and comfort, window cabins are intermediate between interior and balcony cabins.

When choosing a cabin with a window, keep in mind that sometimes the windows can overlook the promenade deck and then people will constantly walk past your window. Use our detailed deck plans to avoid this.

Cabin with balcony

The most popular type of cabins today. If in the old liners of the 90s almost all cabins were internal or with a window, and only suites were equipped with balconies, then on modern giant liners, most of the cabins have balconies.

A private balcony allows you to fully enjoy the atmosphere of a sea cruise, breathe the sea air whenever you want, meet sunrises and sunsets, have breakfast in the open air overlooking the sea.

The size of a standard balcony is approximately 3-4 square meters. On the balcony you will find a couple of sun loungers and a table. Usually the balcony is enclosed by a solid glass partition, for the safety of passengers, in particular children. Balcony access is through floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors providing breathtaking views and plenty of sunlight.

Cabins with a balcony have enough space to accommodate children. Children in these cabins sleep on a fold-out sofa or reclining shelves.

The only disadvantage of cabins with a balcony is their price, which is 1.5-2 times higher than the prices for interior cabins.

Suites

For those who are used to traveling in comfort and paying for it, cruise companies offer exclusive types of cabins with increased space and improved service. It is impossible to describe all the options for suites, on each liner these are cabins of a personal layout: from simple one-room cabins with an increased area to two-level lofts with their own Jacuzzi on the balcony and a butler.

Royal loft suite (Royal Caribbean):

The heaven deluxe owner's suite(NCL):

Bathroom in Reflection suite (Celebrity Cruises).
