Winter holidays in Altai where to go. Rest in Altai in winter (44). Guest house "Altai Riviera", with. Souzga

If many have heard about summer vacations in the Altai Mountains, and therefore at least imagine where exactly it will be more interesting for them, then winter vacations in Altai, where it is better to go in winter, is another question. Although this is just a question, and he has an answer - in Altai there is always something to see and where to go for a vacation. The most important thing is to decide on a trip in winter, when it is really not easy with frosts and blizzards, especially since the climate in this region is sharply continental. This means that the frosts will be real severe frosts, and the winds will be cold, the nights will be without thaws, and the days will be with amazingly blue skies and sparkling cold snow.

For lovers of winter fun, there will not even be a question where to go in Altai in winter - of course, to ski resorts, since there are many of them here. But for sightseeing tourism, there are enough tours that can interest you with their program. In addition, there is simply a rest at the camp site in a warm house with the opportunity to ski, ride downhill and ride a snowmobile. Believe me, you will not have to sleep on the snow, on the spruce branches in a sleeping bag - these times are long gone, but for extreme travelers, travel agencies are ready to “arrange” such a short hike in memory of that period of active tourism.

If there are only three days off for rest

What can you see in Gorny Altai in winter if you didn’t manage to go on vacation in summer? Even three days, if they are well organized, will give you an idea of Altai. The main thing is that you will rest your body and soul, breathe in the mountain air, enjoy the beauty of winter sunsets, go skiing or skating. Of course, what speaks of a short-term vacation is possible only for those who live very close to the Altai Mountains, that is, in Barnaul, Novosibirsk, Tomsk or other nearby cities. For other tourists, it is better to choose longer tours so that the road to the start of the route point and the route itself are financially justified.

So, Gorny Altai in winter or where to go to see something unexpected and beautiful?

  • In all the sources that you will look through before the trip, Swan Lake will definitely be mentioned - a wonderful fairy-tale place where whooper swans spend the winter. The lake is non-freezing, and about half a thousand swans arrive here for the winter. Just imagine a “snow-swan” flock of so many birds taking off over the lake, and they also scream, flap their wings, then sit down on the water again, and it is covered with snow-white “foam” from wings and long swan necks. The sight is beautiful, and from the observation platforms you can take a lot of great pictures of birds that are not afraid of people, they have long been accustomed to clicking camera shutters, flashes and lights of video cameras.
  • Lakes between Cheposh and Askat, which are located in the Chemal region. They are amazingly blue even on cloudy days, this is all that remains from the Katun to winter. In summer, there are no lakes, instead of them, a river flows smoothly, and in winter, lakes take its place. Under Chemal, the air warms up better than in other parts of the Altai Mountains due to warm winds, so you can walk and look at the beauty of unique places without fear of freezing your cheeks.
  • Aktash village and Geyser lake, which does not freeze in any frost. Of course, you can’t swim, but the lake is sky-blue, “alive”, constantly “breathing”, which is amazingly beautiful against the backdrop of winter-quiet nature. If you go to Altai in winter by car, then you can easily get to Geyser Lake, and there is where to stay - very close to Aktash with warm houses.
  • It is very good to spend a few days on Chemal and the surrounding camp sites - everything that Gorny Altai can offer in the few days that you have is here. If in the summer there are kilometer-long queues of tourists on the island of Patmos, then in winter you will get to the Temple completely freely, look at the icon in the rock, admire the suspension bridge directly from the island. In the village of Askat, you can see exhibitions of local artists who paint mountain landscapes, as their grandfathers and great-grandfathers wrote in the old days. All museums and museum complexes are actively working, so you will see the museum in Srostki, the Desyatiruchka complex, where you can take part in master classes and make a real Altai souvenir yourself.
  • The bison nursery in Cherga is open for visits in winter, it is in winter that you can see real Altai bison there. In summer, they go to the taiga, and in winter they return closer to humans, i.e. to the nursery where food is prepared for them. Beautiful powerful animals become almost tame, they can even be fed, of course, under the supervision of a huntsman, but they take bread directly from their hands.

This is just a small fraction of what to do in the Altai Mountains in the winter without outdoor activities, and in a short time.

But after all, three days off can be spent not only looking at beautiful places, but also actively relaxing on the ski slopes, of which there are many. Or riding tubing, snowboarding, skating, just skiing on the slopes ... This is a wonderful holiday - bright, memorable and useful for both adults and children. And then there is horseback riding, husky, snowmobiling, and all this is offered at almost any winter camp site.

Ski slopes are laid in complexes where there are lifts (tow or chairlifts):

  • Lake Teletskoye has the longest runs for beginners and experienced skiers (1,600, 2,000, 3,000 m). The tracks are constantly working, the prices are affordable, there are experienced instructors who teach you how to ride. The lake has a large skating rink, an excellent tubing track, and a baby lift.
  • lake Aya - the trails are small, although there is also a lift. There are very good cross-country skiing trails, a chic skating rink and ice slides, so it is better to come here with children. Experienced skiers will not be too interested, although you can have fun on the rink - it is illuminated at night.
  • Manzherok is an excellent track for mountain descents, a good new lift, there is a tubing track designed for adults. Here you can also go cross-country skiing or ride a dog sled, you can climb to the observation deck, where there is a small cafe and from where you can take great pictures of the surroundings. The shaman's yurt stands in the same place, and the Legends of Gorny Altai complex also operates as usual, only there are fewer tourists.
  • Turquoise Katun also functions as an active tourist area in winter, therefore, in addition to well-appointed buildings, a ski slope, skating rinks, a water park, a sauna and much more are offered. There really is something to do here at any time of the year, including in winter, when there are no fewer excursions than in summer, only the region where tours are distributed is somewhat different. A wonderful entertainment area for those who want to ski to the full during the day, and in the evening have fun in a good restaurant or sit sincerely in a cafe.
  • Seminsky Pass - yes, yes, in winter there are also ski slopes where you can ski and relax in warm houses.
  • the recreation center "Tursib" accepts guests with children, and therefore there are no slopes for skiers, but there are many ice slides, there is a skating rink, gazebos, and even a water park and a gym for those who would like to warm up after a winter walk.
  • Gorno-Altaisk will delight tourists with trails on the Tugaya and Komsomolskaya mountains, and on Goryn near the Aisky bridge you can have a great time cross-country skiing.

Where else to go in Gorny Altai in winter?

For winter fishing or hunting, and it’s better to do it in winter, when even exotic fish “wants to eat” - this is Teletskoye whitefish, and only “lazy” will not catch burbot, perch and pike on Lake Teletskoye. Some travel agencies offer winter hunting for deer, wild boar, upland game and hare, but it is better to find out about this on purpose.

Everything that can be done in three days off can be done in two weeks, just buy a ticket for a longer tour. You don't have to "go on a hike", you will move from base to base, live in comfortable houses, but the tour will be longer, more varied, richer in impressions.

For some reason, everyone frantically comes here only in the summer, two million tourists get together in whole demonstrations at the entrances to the sights. Is it really that you want to visit holy places, standing in line all the time? Or maybe you are one of those who love peace and want to take a break from people while visiting the coolest places inexpensively and freely? Then this text is for you. In winter, the Republic of Altai is no less beautiful, and the prices for tours are absolutely ridiculous.

As a team of four people, we mastered a significant part of the iconic sights of Altai in 7 days. Now I'll tell you everything.

We are on our way to the Kalbak-Tash tract to the ancient petroglyphs. There are over 5,000 very ancient drawings that date back to the 5th millennium BC. and later. Incredibly, entire books of the ancients were preserved on the rocks.

All this has its own meaning and power. If you look closely, you can see spaceships, aliens with strange heads in different pictures. I mean, it was all a long time ago! Three worlds are depicted on other rocks: the upper divine, the earthly and the lower world of the dead.

Many of these drawings also have healing powers.

There, in the summer, thousands of tourists from all over the world come here to lie down on the Woman's Stone, which depicts conception. After that, many barren women were able to get pregnant and, having come here next time with their children, left gratitude to the stone in the form of their jewelry.

Other stone helped to gain women's health. The fact is that in place of the drawings there is still a hematite stone, which also has healing powers. There is also a male stone, but women are not allowed there, so we didn’t find out what its strength is, but it’s not difficult to guess))) And the stone that heals everyone’s back is also nearby, of course, it has its own symbolic drawings.

On Kalbak-Tashch in winter it is very peaceful and calm, without queues here you can calmly communicate with stones and feel the power of primordial nature. I think those who are interested will independently immerse themselves in the study of this ancient unique place of Power.

And 5 kilometers before this place there is a very cool national cafe. It is located right in the mountains near the highway. Along the way.

It is here that you will find incredibly delicious dishes of national cuisine. We especially appreciated the 15-degree milk vodka - it is transparent and very soft, it is made on whey, it tastes like strong koumiss. I also really liked the national salted tea. There is very little salt there, and it is made with milk, which is used to brew talkan and a special local herb - Kuril tea (not to be confused with Ivan Chai). In a festive version, melted butter is also added to tea. Unusual and very tasty!

There are those bright balls - they are called chok-chok, this is a dessert and they are also made of talkan with nuts, very tasty and satisfying. With them is the so-called cheese - Kurut. This is a hard cheese. On a plate next to us is the usual horse sausage. Turkic cuisine has a lot in common with each other.

And for the first we had a traditional soup of lamb and pearl barley, spices except for salt are not added there. Korean cabbage rolls with carrots were unusual for us. Try the rest yourself, the prices are very democratic;)

This cafe also has its own museum, made in the form of an ancient dwelling of the Altaians - ail. There are a lot of ancient utensils inside and a real bonfire in the middle, like in yurts. The hostess Galina Mikhailovna collected everything herself and takes tourists there with pleasure.

Interested in all this wonder? It's incredibly cool there, but the road there from Gorno-Altaisk is far away - as much as 260 kilometers. But on the other hand, along the Chuisky tract, where there is excellent asphalt, the track is always cleaned and it is recognized as one of the 10 most beautiful roads in the world. We had transport and our own guide directly from the Manzherok base. The most experienced instructor Yakov Zyablitsky knows all the dangerous turns and the most beautiful places to stop on the track, just admire

Here we took a picture at the confluence of two rivers - the Chuya and the Turquoise Katun. By the way, in the summer on this mountain you can see the huge faces of a man and a horse.

Like this in the summer, but we couldn't see it because of the snow. This picture hangs in the same cafe, by the way. See the faces? It seems to me that there is not only a man and a horse, but also an alien ...

You can stop and be stunned by the beauty here at every kilometer

These are ceremonial stones - Inyinsky steles are also on the Chuysky tract. Male, children's and female. They say that those who fail to conceive come here. Helps.

Another stunning view of the mountain river

To virgin nature

Each mountain is unique. But this plateau was once flattened by an ancient glacier ...

Be sure to take this tour along the Chuisky tract!

The second type of winter entertainment is snowmobiling.

Everyone is educated! It’s scary at first, but then you get involved, and like that, two of us on the same snowmobile went uphill. On the way, of course, we whined that we were not succeeding, got stuck, fell into a snowdrift, but under the supervision of the instructor, all this happened without harm to us. With an iron will, Yakov commanded us to stop whining and follow the trail. And here we are on the top of Mount Cherepan, it is very close to our base, the height is about 400 meters...

Thank you, Yakov, for not letting us get cold feet and go home!)))))

We were already rushing back happy and very cheerful, we got used to snowmobiles, learned, the impressions are amazing!

We are beginners, but for the pros and everyone in the winter there is a grand run here - Manzherok-Teletskoye Lake on snowmobiles. This is a three-day trip with three stops for 300 km. Participants come from all over Russia!

The view from Mount Cherepan is incredible - you can wave your hand and you will definitely hit some kind of border. After all, Altai borders on 5 countries: China, Khakassia, Karelia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia.

Over there you can see Mount Sinyukha - this is a ski slope with a chair lift. There are now two kilometers of trails. Construction is being carried out with Gref's money, so there is no doubt about its further development.

On the mountain there is an observation platform, a national dwelling and a monument to the Golden Baba, a symbol of motherhood and unconditional female love, revered here.

The rise here costs 400 rubles. The descent is free))) But this is for tourists, for skiers, of course, other prices.

We also met a tame owl here, she sent us to Lake Manzherok for another trip ...

It's already frozen. A little later in the winter there will be dog sledding competitions.

Lake Manzherok is unique in that relic plants have been preserved here, including the water chestnut Chilim, it is also called the head of the devil, but it is not recommended to take it home with you.

There is also an upside-down house nearby, there are several of them in Altai, you can get inside on an excursion, where the whole interior is also upside down.

I also liked the gallery "Strela-Sartakpaya", there are a lot of national, ceremonial souvenirs. Here, local fellows have made national instruments available to tourists. That is, you can learn how to play instantly! Literally on the spot, they teach how to play the ocarina, komus (an analogue of the kubyz, jew's harp). There are glucophones, singing bowls, tambourines, amulets, felt paintings and much more. It's very good here! The main thing is that everything can be bought.

There are also the famous Tavdinsky caves in Altai, but we didn’t get there - the entrance there was covered with snow. A little later they will work.

Everything that I describe is only a small part of the possible excursion program. Altai is a magical place, here the world hears you and fulfills any desire, you will definitely find everything that you want to see if you come with kindness...

Another joy for winter tourists is reduced prices at fairs. I advise you to buy pine nuts, mumiyo and, most importantly, socks made of yak wool. Here they are unrealistically cool and even better than thermal socks in terms of properties. They keep you warm and your feet don't sweat. The locals all wear them.

In the next post, I will tell you about the capital of the Altai Republic, a very interesting museum, where there is a 2500-year-old mummy of a priestess. About the deer farm and why people drink the blood of animals, as well as about the second largest lake in Russia, Teletskoye Lake, a large ski area, a castle and a unique motor ship...

Don't switch! ;)
