Dominican beaches in the Caribbean. What is the sea in the Dominican Republic? The most iconic places for tourists on this coast can be considered

Hello reader! 💐

  1. You can fly to the Dominican Republic at any time of the year. Absolutely anywhere. You don’t even need to frantically scroll through Yandex to score in the search box: “rainy season in the Dominican Republic”, “high season in the Dominican Republic”, “when to go to the Dominican Republic”. For in what month you would not go there - the weather will be great. I am confident in my judgments, since we went to this country in October, after hurricanes Irma and Maria, which by the way passed without a trace for the country's resorts. No hotels were affected, despite the funny Russian television, which scared all the tourists in their "reports", people who were about to fly away on a long-awaited planned vacation. Do not be afraid, hurricanes in the country in September regularly, and this process is familiar there, it does not cause any particular inconvenience to either the country or vacationers - you will have to spend a maximum of 1 day on the territory of the hotel. It's not scary, the wind is getting stronger and it's raining, that's all. All hotels put the territory in order within a day. We talked about the weather with local residents, not indigenous, but living in the country for 8 years or more. In their opinion, you can also go to the Dominican Republic at any time of the weather. The temperature differs only minus / plus 3-5 degrees. Always summer, there are no strong fluctuations in the weather. You can't tell the seasons by the weather. It can rain at any time, regardless of the month and time of day. Personally, out of a 3-week stay in October, we saw rain 5-6 times maximum. It was comfortable. Downpours do not pour for days. There were either heavy downpours passing in 2-3 hours, drying up in a couple of hours, or small rains passing in 15-20 minutes, also drying up as if they were not there. The sun was every day, every day there was an opportunity to sunbathe and swim. Even in the rain we swam and it was warm. It is impossible to say that the Dominican Republic is rainy in any particular season, go boldly when you want.
  2. For one trip, you can "kill two birds with one stone": swim in the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Most likely you will go to a hotel, on the territory of which there will be exactly the ocean. For it is by the ocean that there are many hotels. The Caribbean Sea has much fewer hotels, only 5-7 pieces, no more. While the Atlantic in the Dominican Republic is ten times more. In any case, everyone will have the opportunity to swim in the sea and in the ocean. At least on your own, by renting a car, or during excursions. It is more logical in my opinion to stay in a hotel on the Atlantic, then to go to the Caribbean. For otherwise, you are unlikely to want to go to the Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea is somehow more attractive and magical. Although the Atlantic Ocean is clean, beautiful, pleasant for swimming.
  3. In this country, you can choose the simplest hotel and you will still be satisfied with the country - the ocean, sea, palm trees and sand on sunny days will delight you every day, regardless of the amount you paid for hotel accommodation. I did not rest in the simplest hotel, on the contrary, in one of the best 5 * hotels in the Dominican Republic, with an all-inclusive service, in the resort of Punta Cana, a beach in the Bavaro area. However, while we were looking for hotels on the websites, we saw very simple and budget hotels, where there was a minimal private beach and pool. At the same time, the territories were very green, well-groomed, the beach was picturesque. Therefore, a hotel in this country can be chosen as the cheapest and most expensive. It is important to remember that it is the sensations that are remembered, most likely they will be solitude with nature, and not with the hotel.

These are the main criteria that, in my opinion, should be of interest to every tourist planning their vacation in absolutely any month of the year.

We flew to the Dominican Republic in October 2017 and spent three weeks in the said country. Someone will ask: are you tired of resting? No, I’m not tired at all, I really like long trips, I don’t see the point of flying on an airplane for more than a dozen hours to spend a week on vacation. Although the Dominican Republic is worth any hour spent.

We took the tour as a package from Anex tour, we liked everything - no flight delays due to the fault of the travel agency, a good plane with adequate food and good recommendations for choosing a hotel.

We flew to the Dominican Republic via Moscow with Azur Air. We were not inconvenienced by the long flight at 13:00, as we overslept more than half of the time. It’s not true that you can’t straighten your legs while sitting in a chair on an airplane. This can be done easily if you are not extremely obese. By the way, I don’t see any reason to take places with increased space, because such places are located near the toilet, but for that you can stretch your legs to their full length, since there will be no seats in front, there is free space, and on the left and right there is a toilet - people walk without stopping, The light is brighter, it's harder to fall asleep. Therefore, when flying to the Dominican Republic on an Azur Air plane, you should not take seats with extra legroom, in this case. you change the awl for soap while paying for a more expensive flight. I will write a separate review about Azur Air in detail.

Let me remind you that the time difference in the Dominican Republic compared to Moscow is 7 hours. Despite this, we felt fine upon arrival in the country at 06 am Dominican time, although we fell asleep in the Dominican Republic already at 21:30-22:00 maximum, usually we want to sleep much later. There was no acclimatization, no mood swings or a cold, etc., either. Getting used to the local climate happened in a day.

The peculiarity of the climate of the Dominican Republic is that the air is very humid, always. The air temperature does not fluctuate much, plus / minus a couple of degrees, most often 28-30 degrees. In connection with the above, I strongly recommend not to take decorative cosmetics with you, because it will all drain. I did not risk, I did not apply cosmetics at all for all three weeks. Hair will have to be removed in hairstyles, since it is hot with them, whoever has thick hair will understand. Who has porous hair - they will curl only in this way, you can not even take an iron. It is better to take hair gel to gently remove them.

We flew to Punta Cana airport - a roof made of palm flooring, branches with leaves are used. These are not our Russian tightly closed airports. There are fans with blades under the ceiling, there is really no special coolness from them.

At the airport there is a Dutifree with souvenirs, rum, mamajuana, coffee and cocoa - everything that is usually brought from the Dominican Republic. There are also cosmetics and sweets - as in any Dutifree.

I do not recommend buying gifts for relatives and friends in Dutifree, since everything that is on sale as "Dominican gifts" can be bought cheaper on the territory at the place of rest. If the price is not the first criterion for you when buying, then buy at the airport, the product is of high quality. The advantage of such purchases is that they can already be made upon departure from the country, including if there is no time for shopping during the holidays.

On the way back, when we were already leaving, the airport was decorated with Halloween paraphernalia. Dominicans are preparing for the holidays for a month or a couple of months.

The airport in Punta Cana is clean and safe. The food zone here is extensive, there is something to eat. Prices at the airport as in any other - high.

I'll be back when I arrive in the country. Upon arrival, everyone fills out immigration cards, this is something like a certificate confirming your arrival in the country, when you fly back, fill out the same at the airport.

We were given these forms right on the plane, so as not to waste time at the airport filling them out. Immediately ask for two pieces on the plane to fill on the way back. Many people confuse and call this immigration card a visa. This is not a visa. You don't need a visa for the Dominican Republic. Only if you are flying into the country for more than 30 days will you need a visa. At the airport, we went through passport control, then took our suitcases.

Then we were met by a bus from Aneks tour and we went to our hotel. I have written a detailed review of the hotel.

1️⃣ What to see in the Dominican Republic, which excursions are worth visiting without fail and which travel agency to buy a voucher from.

Do not believe the rumors that there is nowhere to go and nothing to see in the Dominican Republic, apparently these "walking sources" are not entirely aware. Since there were two Russian-speaking guides in our hotel - Anex tour and Biblio - a globe, we took excursions from these companies. You will be surprised and ask why we did not take excursions from local residents or hotel guides. It must be remembered that it is much more interesting to travel with a Russian-speaking guide. In this case, you can resolve all the issues that arise, than pretend to understand the local language or want to save money on what it is not desirable to do.

The cost and content of different travel agencies vary. If you save, then most likely the content will be the same economical plan. With confidence I can say for the content and justification of the three excursions:

  • Saona Island: we took this tour from Anex tour and I recommend taking it from Anex. Its full name is "Saona Deluxe". There is also "Saona Classic" and "Saona Vip". Of all the proposed ones, take the Deluxe: you will get by bus to the La Romana area (a fishing town with the Caribbean Sea),

    then you will sit in a speedboat and with a breeze you will reach a sailing catamaran, on which drinks and snacks are waiting for all-inclusive, dancing, relaxation, catch starfish in the sea,

    where a waiter will be waiting for you at a table with champagne and snacks right in the sea.

    Then you will sail to the island, have lunch - a buffet and lobster with wine and other drinks, then - swim and sunbathe, enjoy the surrounding beauty.

    A beautiful return to the Caribbean awaits and back

    - see the city of millionaires and the city of artists,

    not for a moment, you can walk there and take many beautiful photos. The perfect tour in my opinion for everyone, highly recommend. If you choose one excursion out of five dozen proposed, then Saona (I will tell you more about the excursion in a separate review).

  • Santo Domingo: This tour was taken from the Biblio - the globe. I recommend taking it from them. The ratio of price and quality of the tour is optimal. At Anex, this excursion costs more, and if the price is "more expensive", a visit to the Columbus Lighthouse is not included here.

    The tour is purely historical. If you don’t like history and stories about famous personalities of the past and about what the years of the country were like then and now, choose something else. Santo Domingo is the historical center of the Dominican Republic, you can go here once to at least see the capital of the Dominican Republic: how the locals live, what they do, how they spend their free time, and so on. To say that Santo Domingo is a vibrant and noisy capital? Vice versa. As a center for pensioners and schoolchildren. During the tour, you hear historical facts, drive along the road along the Caribbean Sea,

    swim in it - unfortunately, there is no time, first you visit the caves "Three Eyes", then - keep your way to the very center of Santo Domingo.

    Next, you go to the "Columbus Lighthouse", then a walk is planned to explore the surroundings and local attractions. Then - lunch, free time. Then everyone is going to the bus and everyone is waiting for the way back. On the way, the bus stops near the souvenir shop and the travel agency Biblio - the globe raffles off 100 dollars. Everything is fair, you need to spend this amount in the same store. A nice bonus that Anex tour does not have. It is up to you to decide whether or not to go on this excursion, but I will say this: if you have few days of rest in the country, it is better to enjoy the islands, choose more picturesque places to visit, and if you have a few weeks of rest, and then you no longer plan to repeat the trip to the Dominican Republic, then visit the capital, at least you will know what it looks like not quite a tourist center (I’ll tell you more about the tour in a separate review).

  • A park Lahacienda:

    We took this tour from Anex tour. The Biblio Globus does not have it. Very rich: ride on buggies, safari, walk on horseback,

    ride the cable car and zipline, taste local drinks and fruits, have lunch and keep the way back to the hotel. If you like variety, and if you have not yet experienced the listed entertainment, then you will love it (I will tell you more about the tour in a separate review).

    In general, there are very diverse excursions in the Dominican Republic, for every taste and color: sightseeing, tasting, relaxation excursions, activity excursions. There are excursions in the form of a transfer to a nightclub - for example, to the Coco Bongo Club. A very famous club.

    Excursions in general are not cheap. On average, in rubles, one excursion per person costs 4,000-7,000 thousand rubles. On the islands - twice as expensive.

    What to take on tours: swimwear, slates, money - you can always ask the guide who sells you vouchers for the tour. It is better to ask what to take if the guide misses this information. I recommend taking a change of clothes for each excursion, it will suddenly rain, the probability that the excursion will be canceled or it will be possible to wait for rain is 1% out of 100%. Documents and a lot of money do not need to take.

    For clarity, I will attach the price list of the Anex tour company for excursions that are held throughout the Dominican Republic:

    2️⃣ Does the Caribbean Sea differ from the Atlantic Ocean (both are located on the territory of the Dominican Republic).

    I decided to open this question separately, as I am sure that everyone who has not yet been to the Dominican Republic asks them. Most hotels are located on the Atlantic coastline.

    The Atlantic Ocean is calm and clear. Algae is sometimes washed onto the sand, but this is a natural process. On the territory of hotels, the beaches are always cleaned every day. I can say with confidence that a vacation by the Atlantic will be truly beachy and beautiful. The Caribbean Sea is even cleaner, but in my opinion it is more exciting.

    The color of the Caribbean Sea is even more beautiful and mesmerizing.

    3️⃣ Security in the Dominican Republic. Car rental in the Dominican Republic. Taxi in the Dominican Republic.

    When we were on the bus to our hotel, the guide told us that the Dominican Republic is not entirely safe in terms of walking freely or driving a car. In my opinion, all the horror stories were invented by the guides themselves in order for tourists to take excursions more often and for the business of travel agencies to prosper and prosper. I did not see wild people on the street or strange and frightening. I can only characterize the traffic on the positive side - speed bumps are wider than in our country and specially bumpy, they provide a timely stop for the driver and a decrease in speed, there are no crazy drivers at all. Locals travel by car, scooter and moped.

    Taxis are most often found at hotels and shopping centers. You can take a walk outside the hotel, but there is especially nowhere - you will have to take a taxi or a rented car or transfer for an excursion to certain points.

    The cost of a taxi can be described as affordable. Paying $15, you can drive about 8-10 kilometers.

    You can rent a car with a driver's license.

    4️⃣ What to bring from the Dominican Republic? Dominican coffee, Dominican cigars, Dominican chocolate, Dominican cocoa, Dominican rum, Dominican mamajuana.

    In the Dominican Republic, you can buy locally produced products - rum, coffee, cocoa, mamajuana, chocolate, cigars - as gifts for relatives and friends. In fact, these positions are very good as gifts, it is always interesting to try, the cost of the above is quite affordable, but not cheap, as tourists say. A more or less adequate coffee for a package costs 15-20 dollars, given the fact that there should not be high prices for these goods here, since they grow here and producers are not forced to pay money for their transportation, and producers have no expenses for others needs. So bargain and lower the price.

    We bought various coffee beans in the Dominican Republic, I am not a coffee lover or connoisseur, so I can’t say about the difference with our usual coffee, but I liked both the classic one and with additives - macadamia, hazelnuts.

    Cocoa, of course, is better to take without sugar in the composition, since in this case you pay for sugar, and not a pure product. It is better to add sugar to the already brewed cocoa. Cocoa is different from what we are used to, as if without flavoring special effects (no additives, etc.).

    If you decide to buy cigars, then buy the weakest. Cigars are very tart and will be stronger than cigarettes anyway. You need to buy from where their storage conditions are ensured - refrigerating chambers must provide proper storage. On the beaches and in booths, you don’t need to take cigars, buy fakes at an inflated cost from incomprehensible leaves. Better in malls and stores.

    Rum is light - transparent and richer from golden to dark cognac hue. The lighter the lighter the drink, light rum is a cocktail rum. Dark rum is considered the best. Dark rum tastes very burning, it becomes warm, its aroma alone speaks of a high degree, but the drink is interesting. Prices for rum are different, you can buy at a very affordable price, not expensive prices, and for dark rum, relatively inexpensive, comparing the price tags for alcohol in general.

    I have not tried Mamajuana, but we took it as gifts. This is a traditional Dominican drink. Each family prepares it differently. You can buy a ready-made drink, or you can buy a dry mixture - twigs and sticks, insist in alcohol and get the same mamajuana. Usually men love it. We must not forget that this is an aphrodisiac, so to speak, a drink for male power. Mamajuana is not an expensive drink, very affordable, it is cheaper to buy it in dry form, if you don’t want to bother with cooking, take a ready-made drink. Dry mixes cost about 3-5 dollars.

    You can try Dominican chocolate.

    We were at the mall, bought a lot of coffee and cocoa. We asked a Russian-speaking girl whether it was worth buying cocoa balls, she said that it was just cocoa, there was nothing remarkable in it, we did not try it, and were pleased with the pure product.

    Also in the Dominican Republic you can buy cosmetics that are not available in Russia. I have never heard anywhere that Dominiana is famous for its high-quality cosmetics, so I did not start collecting creams from whale sperm and snail creams. I took coconut oil for myself and as gifts. Here's the thing, the coconut oil here is 100% natural and without any cheapening unnecessary additives.

    I try not to buy magnets and figurines on trips, since in fact they are all made in China, they just change the names of countries on products, but why take such dubious toy pleasures?

    In general, the Dominican Republic is not a country for shopping. Shops here with the most common goods. There are no shopping centers with interesting things. Therefore, if your goal is shopping - Dubai is better, at the itchy end - Moscow will do.

    5️⃣ Who would like to stay in the Dominican Republic? Beach vacation. 18+. Dominican Republic or Dubai?

    Separately, I want to note that both old and young have a rest in this country. Both family vacations and couples vacations will be successful here. A solitary vacation will probably be boring. I saw families here with small children, with babies, with teenagers. There are hotels intended for adults marked 18+. Everyone here will be comfortable. 18+ hotels can be located on the territory of a hotel group, which is convenient if you are eating with a group of young family and friends who do not have children. With this mark, hotels have longer corresponding night programs, have a more relaxed atmosphere, since there are no children on their territory, more freedom in behavior is expected. It's noisier and more disco here. But this does not mean that the territories of hotels without this mark are boring. We rested without marking 18+, despite this, both morning and night were filled with entertainment programs.

    As for the other side of the coin, that is, the category of recreation - beach / non-beach. Beach! If we compare the Dominican Republic with another hot country, which is also hot for 12 months a year, with Dubai, then the Dominican Republic wins. The Dominican Republic is the ideal beach holiday. No Dubai beach even stood next to the white, clean, fine sands of the Dominican Republic. Although it is believed that everything is the best in Dubai, but no, a beach holiday is more successful here, on the Caribbean Sea or near the Atlantic Ocean.

    6️⃣ Things that you 100% need to take with you on vacation in the Dominican Republic.

    The Dominican Republic has a very bright and powerful sun, it reflects both the sand and the sea with the ocean. As you already understood, a holiday in the Dominican Republic is simply unthinkable without sunscreen: sunglasses - it is simply impossible to take them off in the morning until the sun sets, however, a very bright sun; UV cream - if you are white-skinned, take the most maximum protection, we even sold products with protection with SPF 70 on the territory of the hotel, this is what you need in the first days of rest. Then you can use SPF 35, not lower. Of course, you need to protect your lips from the sun. Moisturizing creams after the sun are very useful.

    Be sure to take a hat with you, at least protect the hairline near the forehead - this area burns out very quickly. Better cap or Panama.

    If we talk about clothes, then you can not bother much. Heels and evening dresses most likely will not be needed. Be sure to take a swimsuit with you, it is better not to have one alone, as nature contributes to the desire to take many photos by the pool and by the ocean / sea. A couple of light light T-shirts, T-shirts, denim shorts, a couple of light dresses. It is better to take comfortable shoes, slates / clogs / low-speed sandals, light sneakers.

    Warm clothing in the Dominican Republic is not required. The maximum that you can take from a heating wardrobe is a sweatshirt, suddenly it will rain, and somewhere on the excursion you will want to throw it on. But such a possibility is small.

    I tried to reveal all the main points about the rest in the Dominican Republic. If you have any questions, you can ask them personally in the messages or in the comments, I will try to answer.

If you want to spend your vacation in paradise, then you should go to the Dominican Republic resorts in the Caribbean. Only in spring you can meet only students here who come to have fun among the youth party.

At this resort, even those travelers who make the highest demands on their vacation will satisfy their needs. In Punta Cana, guests are surrounded by peacocks, the rarest types of flowers, mangroves and flamingos. Things that are unusual for the eyes of Europeans will seem quite natural here.

Favorite resort of the Dominicans

Juan Dolio is a Dominican resort located in the southeastern part of the island. He is loved by many travelers, but he has earned special recognition among the locals. Those who like the delights of the underwater world come here: near the shores of this particular resort there is a magical coral reef, which you can explore for days on end. Juan Dolio has more than ten upscale hotels, chic restaurants, clubs, discos and casinos.

It is almost impossible to imagine the Dominican Republic without the resort of Juan Dolio. The beautiful town, which is located near the capital, is full of interesting places, it is characterized by luxurious nature and a curious history. There are many museums, small churches and chapels that can be visited at any time. Resort life here is slow, but everyone here only benefits from this.

The brightest resort in the Dominican Republic

Many Dominican resorts on the Caribbean Sea resemble a real fairy tale. One of these places was the resort of Boca Chica, located in a lagoon protected by reefs. The resort is located in the suburbs of the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo. Boca Chica was founded by the wealthy industrialist Juan Visini in the first half of the last century. And the resort development of this place falls on the 50s of the twentieth century. This happened after the dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo ordered the construction of the modern Amaka Hotel, which today is called the Hamaca Coral By Hilton.

Modern Boca Chica is the busiest resort on the southeast coast. Life here takes place in the rhythm of "merengue", the sounds of which spread from the numerous restaurants located on the beach. Here you can try tropical drinks and dishes from different cuisines of the world. The most popular in Boca Chica are fish delicacies, especially those that are grilled. The main advantage of the resort is a natural 500-meter coral barrier.

Resort capital of the Dominican Republic

The best resorts were founded in the Middle Ages. So, for example, the now popular Santo Domingo was founded back in 1496 by Bartolomeo Columbus, the brother of that same Christopher Columbus. He named the city New Isabella, but then the resort was renamed Santo Domingo, which translates from Spanish as Holy Sunday.

In Santo Domingo, the Osama River flows, which divides it into two parts. The western region is the cultural and business center of the city, while the eastern region is the historical one. The most interesting regions for travelers will be the colonial zone and Gazcue. In the center of the western part of Santo Domingo is the "commercial" heart of the capital. The best shops and restaurants of the city are concentrated here.

Port city of Barahona

We have described all the popular resorts of the Dominican Republic above. But there was one more, on the Caribbean Sea, which is not very popular with tourists, but is no less remarkable for that - this is the port city of Barahona. He hid in the bay, which is surrounded by mountain ranges. The pride of Barahona is picturesque lakes scattered throughout the village. The resort offers tourists a wide variety of excursions.

Travelers can visit Las Caritasm, an archaeological site located in the northern part of Lake Enrikillo. Pink flamingos, iguanas and crocodiles live in this reservoir. Magnetic Hills is the most remarkable place in the resort of Barahona. And if you have a passion for reptiles, then you can visit Cabritos Island.

Holidays on the peninsula

The amazing country of the Dominican Republic. Which resort to choose for a vacation is a question that sometimes leads many travelers to a dead end. There is another place in the Dominican Republic on the Caribbean Sea that fascinates with its beauty. This is the Samana Peninsula.

In the 18th century, King Ferdinand VI of Spain ordered the founding of the city of Santa Barbara de Samana. Every year in February, a carnival is held here, which is opened with the ambula dance. Only representatives of the masculine sex, dressed in multi-colored masks, participate in it.

The Cordillera mountain range crosses the peninsula from east to west. The ridge has become a natural feature between the island and the protected area of Samana. Samana Bay is a true tropical paradise. It has small islands. The bay is 11 kilometers wide, and its length reaches as much as 54 kilometers.

The Dominican Republic is located in the eastern part of the island of Haiti and has many more small islands. Dominican Republic bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in the north, A in the south by the Caribbean Sea. South of the Dominican Republic on the Caribbean coast there are resorts: Barahona, Boca Chica, Palmar, Okoa, Juan Dolio, La Romana, San Pedro. Boca Chica - one of the famous resorts of the Dominican Republic. It is well located, as the capital of Santo Domingo is only 30 km away and the international airport is 12 km away. The resort of Boca Chica (translated as "little mouth") is famous for its white sandy beach and a shallow lagoon separated from the Caribbean Sea by a coral reef. Here the beach is clean and comfortable. The Boca Chica resort creates ideal conditions not only for families with children. He liked diving enthusiasts and novice windsurfers.

This place is suitable for youth recreation and independent tourists who are used to combining beach holidays with excursions and sports water activities.

La Romana - A developed tourist city-resort of the Dominican Republic. It is worth noting that La Romana attracts wealthy vacationers to the VIP-level tourist complex Cassa de Campo. La Romana resort is suitable for a relaxing holiday and family holidays. One of the attractions of La Romana is a medieval village, a kind of recreated Italian province of the 16th century. The very nature of the Dominican Republic emits oxygen, it breathes! The coastal waters of the Dominican Republic are one of the main attractions of the country's resort areas: life is seething in coral reefs day and night. Divers from all over the world come to watch colorful tropical fish and sea turtles. The resorts of the Dominican Republic hold events together with the country on the occasion of big holidays, on which the islanders walk around the world: the festival and carnival in Santo Domingo in February; On Independence Day (February 27), carnivals take place in San Pedro de Macoris, Monte Cristi, Samana, La Vega and Santiago. Dominicans celebrate all Sundays of February with incendiary fun. Tourists are welcome guests at these carnivals of life. March is the time of the historic Fiesto Patria. October is a festival dream in Puerto Plata. Resorts of the Dominican Republic invite tourists to the dance of summer!

The Caribbean islands invite tourists to visit their unforgettable beaches with fine white sand and azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean. In the Caribbean, the tides are negligible. It is no coincidence that Christopher Columbus considered the land of the island of Haiti, which received the sonorous name "Hispaniola", the most beautiful of all, which the discoverer set foot on. The Dominican Republic is friendly and generous in the sun at any time of the year. The Dominican Republic, as the central and southeastern part of the island of Haiti, especially attracts tourists with its resort areas with year-round beach holidays. The Dominican Republic is a real exotic paradise with hundreds of kilometers of snow-white beaches, music of eternal rest, the halo of your success, coral reefs and the geographical border between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The shores of the Dominican Republic are washed in the north by the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, in the east of the country by the Mona Strait, in the south by the warmer Caribbean Sea.

Dominican beaches on the Atlantic coast

The northern beach line of the Dominican Republic is represented by the Puerto Plata resort area. Here are the beaches of the resorts of Laperon, Maimon, Playa Dorada, Sosua and Cabarete. The resort of Playa Dorada has concentrated the largest number of hotels on the northern coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

The beaches of the resort area of Punta Cana and Bavaro in the southeast of the island of Haiti are considered the best in the Dominican Republic. The beaches of Macau, Bavaro Beach, Arena Gorda, El Cortecito, Cabeza de Toro, Punta Cana and Cap Cana are truly impressive: more than 40 kilometers of pearly and white boundless sand meet the turquoise surf of the Atlantic Ocean. A continuous forest of coconut palms stretches for many kilometers along the coastline.

Macau Beach is a beautiful two-kilometer "wild" coastline. It is no longer typical for the Punta Cana resort area with its luxurious equipped beaches of hotel complexes. The wide beach strip "Macau Beach" rests on a picturesque green cape with rock formations. The bonus of Macau beach is the depth of the ocean in the coastal strip a little more than a meter. Enchanting with its natural beauty and gold-colored sand, Macau Beach has more ocean waves, because there is no coral reef here. On Macau Beach, you can try bodyboarding, an exciting sport for novice surfers. The main equipment is a small board for taming serious waves while lying on your stomach. In addition to swimming in the ocean on Macau beach, you can ride horses or order fresh seafood.

In the resort area of Punta Cana - Bavaro, a coral reef protects the lagoon from ocean waves and ocean inhabitants. The Playa Bavaro beach area is a lush tropical park that stretches on the very shores of the Atlantic Ocean. The law of the Dominican Republic prohibits the destruction of natural beaches, so new tourist complexes are built here at least 60 meters from the coast so as not to disturb the natural beauty of the coastline. On the famous Bavaro beach on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, there are more than 30 large hotel complexes with sections of their own beach areas on the first coastline. The atmosphere of serenity, renewal of the soul and complete merging with nature, surrounded by coconut palms, dominates here. Family holidays with children are a priority here. But many hotels operate on the concept of "adults only" (children under 18 are not accommodated). Two-story colonial-era bungalows, villas and low-rise buildings with Spanish-Mediterranean decor and casinos are scattered throughout the lush tropical parks of the hotel complexes.

Playa Bavaro is a chic long wide beach with white sand, a good entrance to the ocean and opportunities for outdoor activities. The hotel complexes of the Barcelo Bavaro chain invite you to stroll through the territories of friendly hotels on a special train. The beach of the luxury hotel "Barcelo Punta Cana Super" 4 * ranks first in length. The Barcelo Bavaro beach area is a colonial Caribbean-style hotel surrounded by long-legged palm trees and lagoon-style pools. They are separated from the beach area by alleys of coconut palms. Sunbeds, towels and umbrellas on the beaches of hotels for free. Hotel Riu Naiboa 4 * is located on the Arena Gorda beach line, 150 meters from the Caribbean Street promenade. The tropical garden and coconut alley come close to the shore.

A boat trip along the snow-white coast of the beaches of Bavaro, making sharp turns on a high-speed boat or slowly cutting through the waves of the Atlantic on a double-deck sailing catamaran, will appeal to all tourists who want to enjoy speed, wind and admire the beauties of the Punta Cana resort area from pleasure boats.

Catalinita Island (Santa Catalina), opposite the resort of La Romana, is an uninhabited island where the waves of the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea meet. Appreciate the beauty and power of the ocean distance of the Atlantic! In the perspective of the Caribbean Sea, a slight soft wave is only outlined here.

Dominican beaches in the Caribbean

Saona Island is part of the Del Este National Reserve in the Dominican Republic. It is 140 km from the capital airport in Santo Domingo, and 60 km from Punta Cana Airport.

The main wealth of the island of Saona is the beaches and the warmer Caribbean Sea, palm paradise and mangrove forests, elm tree roots and shrubs right at the water's edge.

The beaches of Saona Island and its two lagoons are the visiting card of the Dominican Republic. There are no hotels and transport here, because this is an island protected area of the Del Este National Park. There are no usual water pleasures here, but only relaxation under palm trees. Snorkeling and classic diving are a priority for entertainment near coral reefs. The beaches of Saona Island are the serene beaches of the island part of the province of La Altagracia: Bounty Beach; Catiano and Bonita beach (northwest of the island); del Cato beach; Mano Juan beach. The water in the Caribbean Sea is much warmer than in Punta Cana with its Atlantic Ocean. At the same time, dozens of boats approach the island of Saona for a day trip to its famous beaches. The lagoon "Natural pool" near the island of Saona will give tourists swimming in the shallows in the sea and meeting with starfish.

The best beaches of the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean Sea are the beaches of the La Romana resort, the beaches of the Casa de Campo 5 * hotel complex and the beaches of Boca Chica. The capital of the Dominican Republic and the port of Santo Domingo are located west of Punta Cana. There are only a few beaches in the capital itself. The main beaches of the capital lie outside the city. The closest beach to Santo Domingo is Boca Chica. On the beach area of Boca Chica, there are coconuts in sea foam and huge living shells. The five-kilometer equipped beach of Boca Chica is noisy and crowded, because it is located 30 km from the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo. Individual palm trees along the coast, bright tropical greenery, loud music, numerous pizzerias and bars make up the memorable image of this beach. Boca Chica Beach is framed by more than one luxury hotel. The long shallow waters of Boca Chica Beach with warm sea water are ideal for swimming with children. Boca Chica Beach at night is a big "foam party". Divers are in awe of the three wrecks in the unique underwater park of La Caleta. Surfers will celebrate Caribe Beach with high waves.

Juan Dolio is a central place among the resorts in the south of the Dominican Republic and a great place for families with children. Three beaches stand out here: Juan Dolio; Caribbean; Guayacanes. The beaches of the resort town of Juan Dolio in the Dominican Republic are located in a lagoon up to 1.5 meters deep and are separated from the Caribbean Sea by an artificial breakwater. The city of Juan Dolio stretched like a chain along the beach line off the coast of the Caribbean Sea. The port town of San Pedro de Macoris will attract tourists with the Museum of the famous Barcelo rum and a shop. The nearby beaches of Boca Chica, the resorts of La Romana, the Los Delfines Water water park and the sights of the capital of Santo Domingo call for choosing Juan Dolio for a beach holiday in the Dominican Republic. A wide strip of beach coast, mystery, tranquility of the beauty of landscapes and two highways connecting hotels and villas are the main characters of the Juan Dolio resort in the south of the Dominican Republic.

The best resorts in the Dominican Republic

The Caribbean coast is considered an ideal place for a family vacation - it is there that the best resorts of the Dominican Republic are concentrated. Holidays on the Caribbean coast are remembered by both adults and children - everything is thought out to the smallest detail.

Below is a brief overview describing the key resorts of the Caribbean region.

Punta Cana

This resort is located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic. Family vacationers and romantic couples flock here. The local beach is considered one of the best in the country - kilometers of coconut palms and white sand.

Most tourist centers and hotel complexes are built on the first line of the coast. Sports infrastructure is also developed:

  • tennis courts;
  • pools;
  • dive centers;
  • horse trails;
  • windsurfing schools;
  • golf courses.

The resort provides a lot of opportunities for active recreation - Caribbean fishing, jeep safari, agritourism. If desired, you can order a helicopter ride.

Punta Cana is a desert area, where you can walk endlessly. Outside the hotel complexes - only mangrove trees, secluded beaches and caves.

viking

This elite resort has notoriety. Sexual Caribbean cruises are regularly arranged from here.

Viking is a VIP resort for sexual entertainment.

If you are too lazy to travel, you can stay in a luxury villa and enjoy the local hospitality:

  • four bedrooms;
  • air conditioning;
  • gorgeous beach;
  • servant staff;
  • satellite TV;
  • uninterrupted Internet connection;
  • personal car;
  • hired girls.

Not everyone can afford such a vacation. Mostly wealthy men flock to the Viking, not burdened with principles and not deprived of finances.

La Romana

This resort is located relatively close to Santa Domingo - only 131 kilometers separate the beaches of La Romana from the Dominican capital. Local beaches are completely covered with white sand, but this is far from the only advantage of the resort. It is very easy to get to La Romana as it has its own airport.

La Romana is a tiny town that does not have an abundance of attractions (like most resorts in the Dominican Republic). Tourists stay in picturesque bungalows grouped in the Duarte Park area. On Saturdays, a handicraft market opens where you can buy rare souvenirs.

Leaving the city, you find yourself in picturesque valleys overgrown with lemon trees and sugar cane.

In the fishing village of Bayaibe, you can explore the life of the indigenous population of the Dominican Republic. The yacht port is also localized there and excursions to the islands are equipped.

There are other active activities:

  • tennis;
  • sport fishing;
  • agritourism;
  • jeep safari.

How much will the trip cost

Accommodation prices in the resorts of the Dominican Republic depend on a number of factors, including seasonality, type of housing, region, level of service.

The most expensive resorts are concentrated in the vicinity of Santa Domingo, but if you want to save money, go straight to Samana.
The difference is impressive: a night in a Samana hotel costs about $20, in Santa Domingo you will have to shell out $300.

For fear of overpaying, keep in mind that cheap rooms may not have air conditioning.

Housing prices skyrocket during the dry season. Compared to the wet season, you overpay about 50% of the total cost of living.

Now about food. For five bucks you can have a good meal in a cozy restaurant - the main thing is to choose the right place.

Prices for products here are approximately as follows:

  • drinking water - a dollar for 19 liters;
  • cocoa - $ 0.7 per pound;
  • a loaf of bread - 0.07;
  • half a kilo of cheese - 3.5;
  • a dozen eggs - 0.8;
  • half a kilo of beans - 0.8;
  • tomatoes - 0.7;
  • kilogram of chicken - 1.5;
  • half a kilo of ham - 3.5;
  • hamburger - 1.78;
  • four bananas - 0.35;
  • half a kilo of coffee - 3;
  • sugar - 0.4.

Some people find it easier to pay for a package tour than figure out their diet and run around grocery stores, and then sum it all up. For those who prefer freedom of movement, we advise you to think about.

If you are going on excursions, get ready for an unpleasant surprise: a ticket for a city bus costs $ 3, a trip to another region will empty your wallet for six "greens".
Taxi drivers charge 4-5 bucks per kilometer. There are no counters, so everyone agrees individually.

Last minute trips to the Dominican Republic (departure from Moscow) start at $1,230. The trip is for a week. Accommodation is provided in a five-star hotel and the all-inclusive system.

A surprise for many travelers is the tax that you have to pay upon arrival in the Dominican Republic ($10). The same amount will be pulled out of your wallet at the end of the holiday. A temporary visa costs 20 greenbacks.
