Which of us sometimes does not want to get an adrenaline rush, “reboot” the usual program of life? It is not at all necessary to look for extreme sports beyond the seven seas, when in Russia, one might say, close at hand, there are places for campaigns of real Russian heroes. Don't worry, a change of scenery is guaranteed - prisoners of the cities, you have no idea what discoveries await there, in the vastness of the country!

Winter has more than once rescued our brother by driving both Napoleon and Hitler out of Russia. Given the historical context, it seems significant that it is in our country that the "pole of cold" - Oymyakon - is located. This village, which is home to a little more than half a thousand inhabitants, is considered the most severe place on the planet, where there is a permanent population. It is surprising not even that people live here, but that Oymyakon is quite popular among tourists. True, not just tourists, but those daredevils who want to get new emotions, and at the same time test themselves. It is unlikely that travelers who decide on such a tour will be able to feel what frost is at - 67.7 degrees (absolute minus on Oymyakon). Is -40 in the middle of a snowy desert, 1000 kilometers away from Yakutsk, not enough to understand, here it is - "White Silence"? A tour to Oymyakon is also an ethno-journey, during which the participants of the trip are introduced to the life and customs of indigenous peoples, they are allowed to ride a dog and reindeer sled, try local treats and, of course, admire nature. All this is unfamiliar, so far from us, but still our native land.

Ancient settlement of Arkaim

Do you know that one of the oldest civilizations on the planet was formed on the territory of our country? In the 70-80s of the last century in the Chelyabinsk region near the Bolshaya Karaganka River, scientists discovered the ruins of urban settlements dating back to the 3rd-2nd millennium BC. e. This place was called Arkaim, and today there is a reserve here. Every summer, tourists come to this "Land of Cities" to see with their own eyes what is left of the ancient village. Defensive structures, burial grounds, as well as a landscape that has not changed over five millennia ... For some, this is evidence of the fact that it was in the Southern Urals that the Indo-European civilization originated, for others - an occult “place of power”. Some travelers come to these places to feel the silence of the endless steppe, in the vastness of which a person is like a grain of sand.

Lotus lake in Astrakhan

Lotus is a flower that we associate with Asian culture. It is all the more surprising that the northernmost point where this plant is found is in our country, in the Volga delta. During the flowering of the Astrakhan lotus, these places are transformed: pink and white flowers bloom among huge, about a meter in diameter leaves. Tourists on special boats and boats cross the Lotus Lake to feel like a part of this miracle of nature and view the plants up close. All around is an aroma reminiscent of the smell of almonds, and somewhere on the shore, fish soup from fish caught in the Volga is already being prepared ... what more could you want?

The epicenter of the Tunguska meteorite

More than 100 years ago, in the area of the Yenisei River basin, the Tunguska meteorite was recorded, which "pierced" the sky with a fireball. Although a lot of time has passed since this event, the mystery of the meteorite has not yet been solved, and to this day there are absolutely incredible versions associated with this phenomenon. For example, scientists are still arguing about the composition of the meteorite and the reasons for its fall to Earth. If you want to try to solve the mystery of the meteorite, head to the epicenter where the explosion happened. A tour to the place of the fall of the Tunguska meteorite also includes an inspection of the surrounding places: the Churgim Gorge, the Churgim Falls, Fahrenheit Mountain, the Kulikovo Funnel. The Tunguska meteorite is a kind of message from the cosmos to us, people, and its secrets have yet to be unraveled.

arctic

The hot tropics attract thousands of tourists, but there are those who like the harsh North. Here frost burns the cheeks, and the desert is snowy, and the sun does not warm at all, although it can “linger” in the sky for several days. In Russia, the places beyond the Arctic Circle are called the Arctic. It is in our country that the three largest cities in the world, founded beyond the "cold line" are located: Murmansk, Norilsk, Vorkuta. Usually, travelers lay their routes through these cities, visiting the settlements of the indigenous northern peoples along the way. The best time is June, the solstice period, when the polar day lasts for 61 days and the sun does not fall below the horizon. Here you can also witness another unique phenomenon - the Northern Lights. Tourists who have been to the Arctic joke that only in these parts the birches are slightly higher than mushrooms (dwarf birches), and on the streets you can meet bears ... polar bears! Beyond these places is only the Arctic.

Kola Peninsula

One of the most interesting places beyond the Arctic Circle is the Kola Peninsula, located in the Murmansk region. Absolutely special nature attracts connoisseurs of natural beauty here. It would seem, how can the North surprise us? Only plants in this territory - 400 species, birds - 200 species. These are the best salmon fishing spots in Russia. On the Kola Peninsula there is a Botanical Garden and two reserves - Kandalaksha and Lapland. In addition, there are other attractions here: the ancient labyrinths of "Babylon", churches, rock paintings.

The tourism business is quite well developed on the peninsula, so you don’t get bored: hiking trails, ski crossings, descents into gorges, river rafting and water tours on lakes. There are "walking" excursions for beginners and real "obstacle courses" for real conquerors of the North.

Mountain Altai

Gorny Altai is well known to fans of outdoor activities. Every year climbers, connoisseurs of horse tours, speleologists and lovers of descents along rivers and lakes come here. The ridges of Altai rise to a height of up to 4,000 meters, and the most impressive peak is Mount Belukha (4,506 m). Gorny Altai is also the land of blue lakes, the largest of which is Teletskoye. Altai is the kingdom of caves: in these places there are 430 karst caves, the deepest one in Siberia is the Ecological mine, which is located in Altai. And, of course, Altai is a country of pioneers and adventurers who come here to admire the many burial mounds, ancient stelae, historical monuments, see petroglyphs carved by ancient people. If you, like Vladimir Vysotsky, think that “Only mountains that you have never been to can be better than mountains ...”, by all means go to Altai!

Victoria Karmanets

In the modern world, it is difficult to surprise anyone with your photos against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower or the Egyptian pyramids - these popular attractions have long lost the effect of novelty. However, there are still many truly extreme destinations for tourism. Today we will talk about 10 amazing places on Earth, having been in which you can then all your life surprise friends with stories.

Antarctica

Since childhood, we have been surrounded by a romantic halo of stories about polar explorers who have been living for years at autonomous stations in Antarctica, conducting scientific experiments, collecting information about this harsh continent, and also taking care of its “indigenous inhabitants” - penguins.

However, it is not at all necessary to go on long and far from always safe Antarctic expeditions, because you can also visit the southern continent as a tourist. Many travel companies provide their customers with a similar service.

Those wishing to visit Antarctica can sail to the shores of this continent on a cruise ship or even fly to one of the stations as part of a thematic tour.

Price. A cruise on a liner with a disembarkation in Antarctica will cost a fan of extreme sports at least 1800 US dollars (start from Patagonia). A ten-day expedition across the continent costs much more - from $5,000.

North Pole

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the leaders of several expeditions argued among themselves which of them managed to visit the North Pole first. At the moment, the American Robert Peary is considered the discoverer of this point on the globe, it happened on April 21, 1908. However, it is unlikely that this brave man, who reached the pole, enduring incredible hardships and exerting superhuman efforts, could have imagined that after a century tourist trips would be possible there.

However, anyone can now visit the North Pole to admire the endless fields of ice, as well as travel around the world in just a few seconds.

You can get to the North Pole quickly and safely by plane, icebreaker, or even by cars specially prepared for such an expedition.

Price. A trip to the North Pole on an icebreaker will cost a tourist 21 thousand US dollars, by plane - 18 thousand.

Climbing to the top of Chomolungma is an activity for the strongest and most experienced athletes in the world who have been preparing for this achievement for many years. However, almost anyone can touch this event without long training and hardships, because there are tours to the base camp on Everest.

The base camp is the main stronghold on the path of climbers to the Top of the World, it is located at an altitude of 5545 meters. There, brave athletes undergo acclimatization for several days, prepare equipment for the ascent and wait for good weather to start.

Ordinary tourists can also visit here. To do this, they will have to walk for several days through the most beautiful places of the Himalayas in Nepal.

Price such a tour, in comparison with the conquest of Antarctica or the North Pole, is small - it starts from 1250 US dollars.

North Korea

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is one of the most closed countries in the world. This is a real reserve of the totalitarian communist system, which in other parts of the world went down in history in the middle of the twentieth century.

It is impossible for an independent tourist to get into North Korea; visiting this country by foreigners is carried out exclusively in the form of groups organized and approved by the leadership. A traveler who has arrived in the DPRK cannot even walk alone through the streets of Pyongyang - only with guides who will control him so that he does not film something that could discredit the bright name of the DPRK.

Tourists in the DPRK are expected to visit places sacred to the Korean Revolution, including the mausoleum of Kim Il Sung. Guests of the country are taken to the mountains and the sea, they are taken to an exemplary kindergarten, to a mass sports and dance show, and they are also allowed to go down to the subway, however, without a trip to another station.

Price. For a tour to North Korea, a tourist must pay from 1450 euros.

This type of entertainment for the inhabitants of the Navarre region in Spain became known to the whole world thanks to the work of Ernest Hemingway, who lived in Pamplona for a long time and wrote the work “The Sun Also Rises” about this city.

Every summer, Pamplona hosts the San Fermin Festival, during which traditional bull races take place through the streets of the city. The inhabitants of this settlement, and more recently, tourists who want to risk their lives, dress in special clothes and try to run at least a few meters next to the angry animals, while remaining unharmed.

Practically during each such race (and they take place daily during the nine days of the festival), there are brave souls crippled or even killed by bulls. However, this is a very small percentage of the thousands of adrenaline junkies running around.

Price. Participation in the San Fermin Festival is free. Those who want to run with the bulls daredevils need to pay only for the trip to Spain itself, as well as an overnight stay and meals in Pamplona.

Exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant

On April 26, 1986, perhaps the worst technological disaster in the history of Mankind occurred on the border of the Ukrainian and Belarusian SSRs - one of the reactors at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded, releasing a huge amount of radioactive substances into the air.

Since then, the cities of Chernobyl, Pripyat and many smaller settlements have been empty, resettled, and nature in them takes away what man had previously taken from her. Once paved roads are now overgrown with thick bushes, and trees make their way even inside the concrete boxes of houses.

Now in the Exclusion Zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant you can meet only plant workers who control this facility and build a new sarcophagus over it, a small number of self-settlers (old people who returned to live in these places without permission), as well as tourists.

Price. Tours to Chernobyl are carried out from Kyiv in an official way from the station management. The cheapest option will cost an extreme tourist $50.

Afghanistan

Over the past three decades, the name “Afghanistan” has not been associated with the word “tourism” among the vast majority of the inhabitants of the planet. However, there are daredevils who dare to travel to this troubled country.

Some even travel to Afghanistan on their own, but most still prefer to use the services of professional guides who show tourists the most interesting and safe places in the country, organize accommodation, meals and trips to a state almost unknown to foreigners.

Price an organized tour to Afghanistan starts from 1200 US dollars.

Way of Saint James

The airport in the city of Santiago de Compostela in the north-west of Spain in the historical province of Galicia is known for the fact that several times more people depart from it every day than arrive. The fact is that this settlement is the final exact Way of St. James - the famous Christian pilgrimage to the relics of the apostle.

More than 200 thousand people come to Santiago every year. But these are not only religious pilgrims. Most of the people walking along the Way of St. James are ordinary tourists, because this trail has become the most popular walking tourist route in the world.

The Way of St. James is not a single route, but a whole network of footpaths throughout Europe. The most popular part of it is the so-called French Way - a trail from the Pyrenees 750 kilometers long. But there are also many alternative routes. The most recent marked point is located at a distance of 4053 km from Santiago in the Polish village of Medyka on the border with Ukraine.

Price. A monthly pilgrimage along the French Way, together with a flight from anywhere in Europe, will cost about 1000 euros.

A space flight

In childhood, almost all boys dreamed of becoming astronauts, but only a few managed to achieve this goal. At least for now. But Mankind stands in the way of a real cosmic breakthrough - mass travel to the Earth's orbit.

The first space tourist was the American millionaire Dennis Tito in 2001, who paid the Russian Space Agency $20 million for his flight. But in the very near future, this amount may be reduced by almost a hundred times, because several private companies promise to start regular tourist flights to space at once.

The most famous of these endeavors is Virgin Galactic, which flies into suborbital space (above 100 kilometers) on SpaceShipTwo space shuttles.

In the fall of 2014, a shuttle in the Mojave Desert, but already this winter, its clone was put into operation.

Price flight on this ship is 200-250 thousand dollars. True, commercial flights from Virgin Galactic have not yet begun.

It is these people, truly passionate about hitchhiking, that can go in this way almost all of Eurasia - to Vladivostok. The journey there from Moscow takes more than a month one way, but the people who made it really get to know Russia in all its beauty and squalor.

A hitchhiking trip to Vladivostok is not as dangerous as it might seem at first glance. The overwhelming majority of the inhabitants of Russia are wonderful people who are ready to help the traveler standing on the side of the road in every possible way. The extreme in such a trip comes from harsh climatic and living conditions, large distances between settlements and the lack of a normal road surface for many hundreds of kilometers of the road to the Far East.

Of course, not all people are ready to make even one of these trips. But this does not mean at all that the road to the End of the World is closed to them. After all, you can travel without even getting up from the couch. For example, using the Google Street View service, which allows you to get even into.

Bungee jumping in the mouth of a volcano is one of the most extreme recreations. Just imagine, for $10,000, anyone can jump into the mouth of the active volcano Villarrica in Chile, and only 213 meters will separate you from the red-hot lava at the bottom of the jump.

Unfortunately, this mountain has claimed the lives of many professional climbers.

In China, at a height of a thousand meters above the ground, there is Mount Huashan, into the slope of which wooden boards no more than 30 cm wide are driven in. You can walk along these boards along a steep slope, but the problem and extreme lies in the fact that this “path” does not have any handrails or other supports, and the only thing that keeps extreme lovers in the air is a safety rope.

Impenetrable cliffs with steep carved stairs, glass and wooden suspension bridges located at great heights, islands extremely remote from land and inaccessible viewing platforms from which a fabulously beautiful view opens - these are just a few examples of places that can attract fans of extreme sports. Walking on dangerous tracks and climbing to the tops of cliffs is always fraught with a serious threat; only a few of the most courageous travelers prefer to visit some places on the planet. If you are attracted only by the most dangerous adventures, if you have long dreamed of being in one of the most dangerous places on the planet and testing your nerves, this review will definitely be of interest to you.

In China, on the territory of the Shanxi province, there is the legendary Mount Huashan. Since ancient times, it has been of great religious significance for local residents. On the peaks of the mountain, of which there are five in total, there are ancient religious sanctuaries, which are visited by thousands of pilgrims from year to year. However, travelers to these places are not attracted by religious sights at all, but by an extreme "attraction" - a path laid hundreds of years ago by monks leading to the peaks of the mountain.

According to historical data, more than 700 years ago, hermit monks lived in the mountains, who built a very difficult and dangerous passage in the rocks. Steep steps carved right into the sheer cliffs, sloping and incredibly narrow wooden ledges passing over the gorges - every year thousands of pilgrims and a huge number of extreme sports enthusiasts boldly overcome these obstacles. The lowest of the five mountain peaks is the Northern one; lovers of comfort can reach it by funicular. Those who are not looking for easy ways will be offered a choice of two walking routes that allow you to bypass all five peaks and see the ancient pagodas, caves and sanctuaries carved by monks located on them.

The most popular of the two is the Hua Shan Yu route, which is about 6 km long and takes an average of about 5 hours to complete. A path full of dangers is known to a wide range of travelers as the "Path of Death", the route is considered the most dangerous in the world. Its most extreme sections are narrow wooden bridges laid right along the edge of the rocks, over the gorge. Experienced tourists recommend climbing in September, at this time of the year the mountains are especially beautiful.

One of the main attractions of Utah is the Zaynon National Park. It is here, among the picturesque canyons and mountain peaks, that one of the most extreme places on the planet is hidden - an observation point with the romantic name "Shelter of Angels". It is believed that it is from this observation deck that the best view of the canyon opens. The main difficulty for tourists is that it is not so easy to climb to the observation deck. This event can become even more exciting than a long walk through the national park.

Many fans of extreme sports go in search of new sensations to Colombia. Here, between the miniature towns of El Peñol and Guatape, is the amazing rock of El Peñon de Guatape, climbing to the top of which promises to be one of the most exciting and memorable experiences in life. The height of the rock is 220 meters, according to scientists, it was formed more than 70 million years ago. The rock resembles a huge stone, its length is about 380 meters, and its width is about 100 meters, respectively. According to rough estimates, the weight of such a huge "stone" is close to 10 million tons.

In Spain, one of the best places for extreme recreation will be El Chorro Gorge, which is known for its fabulously beautiful waterfalls, fast-moving rivers and futuristic landscapes. One of the main extreme attractions of the gorge is the so-called Royal Path - a concrete bridge laid along the wall of the gorge, devoid of any handrails and supports. This dangerous passage was built at the beginning of the 20th century for the workers who were building the dam.

The impregnable mountains do not cease to attract lovers of dangerous entertainment, the goal of brave climbers from all over the world is Mount Thor, located on Baffin Island, Canada. This impregnable granite mountain, whose height is about 1,250 meters, is considered the highest vertical slope on the planet, the slope of the mountain is only 105 degrees. It is obvious that climbing Thor Peak is a dangerous and difficult undertaking even for high-class climbers. However, a dangerous vertical slope is far from the only obstacle that awaits fans of extreme sports. The ascent to the mountain is significantly complicated by frequent rockfalls, because of which many athletes have to abandon their bold and determined intentions.

If for someone extreme is associated with the conquest of impregnable mountains, then for others it is with visiting the most remote and hard-to-reach corners of the planet. One of these places is the amazing Tristan da Cunha archipelago, located in the Atlantic Ocean. The archipelago is inhabited, about 250 people live permanently on it. The main feature of the picturesque archipelago is that it is the most inhabited archipelago in the world farthest from land.

China is a real world leader in the number of extreme vacation spots. More recently, an original bridge was built on Mount Tianmen, which was called the "Path of Faith." The bridge is an absolutely transparent structure made of high-strength glass, which was equipped along the side of the mountain, right above the gorge overgrown with trees. Walking along the glass bridge is not an event for the faint of heart and definitely not for those who feel dizzy from the height.

Not all experienced tourists are aware that just a couple of hours drive from Manhattan is one of the most dangerous places on the planet. The small village of Catshill is located here, it is located near the mountain range of the same name and gave the name to one of the most dangerous trails in the world. The length of the trail is a little over 40 km. The path passes through incredibly beautiful mountainous terrain. The main danger for travelers here is not only difficult mountain climbs, but also wild animals.
