Alexandria Landscape Park is the last stronghold of romance. History of Alexandria Monument to Nicholas II in the park of Alexandria

KP "Alexandria Park" is being built on the territory of the village of Skotnoye, 10 km from the ring road. The village is run by R5 Group.

In the first phase of the village, 38 plots are being sold, in the second - 48, in the third - 40 plots. In this part of the CP, electricity is provided at the rate of 15 kW per allotment, water supply from the central well through the winter water supply, main gas. Plots have a size of 6-12 acres, in total there are 126 of them in the KP. You can buy both a simple plot and a plot with a house or a contract for its construction. The developer offers houses made of aerated concrete and frame type, lined with bricks. The developer promises to organize children's and sports grounds, guard the fenced area. Roads to each site were built and covered with asphalt crumbs in the village, technical specifications for all communications were obtained, a well was organized, water supply was laid, as well as poles with electricity metering units, main gas was installed. Functioning street lighting. It is planned to organize the operation of the operation service in the KP.

The road to the village by car from the ring road will take about 10 minutes, you have to drive 10 km along the A-121 Sortavala highway. There is a bus from St. Petersburg to the village of Skotnoye, from the bus stop to the checkpoint you need to walk 1.2 km on foot.

The settlement arose to the north-west of the Volchya River and a large forest behind it. The highway is 300 meters away and is separated from the CP by a narrow forest belt.

The nearest infrastructure facilities are located in the village of Skotnoe: cafes, shops, children's and football grounds, private farms. On the outskirts of the city there are Mega Parnassus, Auchan, Ikea, Ob, and the Grand Canyon shopping mall. A fitness club, a bakery and other infrastructure facilities have been designed in the neighboring large residential complex. Schools and kindergartens are operating in the settlements of Vartemyagi and Agalatovo, and a hospital is being built. Nearby there is a bison-bison nursery, the ski resort "Eagle Mountain".

Opinion (May 2019):

The village is gradually developing, quite a lot of houses have already been built here, and in the first stages, the "Alexandria Park" looks quite habitable. Intra-settlement roads are made and periodically repaired, the territory is illuminated, video surveillance cameras are installed, the Internet is connected to the village via fiber optic cable. A fence is being installed around the entire perimeter of the village. The process of water supply and electrification of the fourth stage of the village continues. According to the developer, work is also underway on gas supply, however, no real achievements in this matter are reported either on the site of the village or on other official sites.

The location of the KP "Alexandria Park" has a number of advantages, which we have already written about. It is quite suitable for permanent residence. The cottages that have already been built here look solid, it is clear that people consider the village precisely as a place to live all year round, and not for summer holidays.

Sales don't stop there. If at the end of October 2017 about 60 plots were sold and booked, then by May 2019 over 100 lots were sold. It turns out that an average of three land plots are sold per month. Pretty good for the current difficult market situation. There is still a choice at the moment, but it is no longer great. 24 sites remain free.

Among the nearest cottage settlements, both more affordable and comparable in price options are presented: settlements, as well as more expensive ones - KP, etc.

Opinion, October 2017:

A good place was chosen for the village. It's beautiful here, hilly terrain, copses. This is already a lot. I really want to live here. Another important plus is that it is not far to go to St. Petersburg. There is an interchange of the Sortavala highway nearby, there are usually no traffic jams on this wide highway, so getting to the city and back will not be a problem. We also note that Kavgolovskoye Lake is relatively close: if you have a car in the summer, you will have somewhere to go to swim and sunbathe. There are also places for active recreation nearby. In all senses "Alexandria Park" Pretty good option for both permanent residence and holiday home. At the same time, the price of a hundred square meters is quite democratic.

The risks of the project, in our opinion, can only be associated with the developer's lack of experience. Company R5 Group young and in the market to prove itself has not really had time. She implemented her earlier project, the village of Solnechnaya Dolina, nearby, also in the location of Animal. However, buyers of plots had questions about it there: on the access road to the village, on the quality of water from the central well, on the timing of connecting gas. It is impossible to exclude the possibility that similar issues may arise in the "Alexandria Park". However, so far the intensity of passions that the forum of the "Solnechnaya Dolina" breathes is not observed here. At present, a well for water supply is ready in the village, there is electricity, lighting has been done in some places, internal roads are being made, the owners are building houses, several cottages have already been built. It is partly alarming that the developer does not post any documents related to land, communications, etc. on the official website of the village.

Sales in the "Alexandria Park" are very active. Apart from the reserved plots, there are almost no free land plots left in the first stage, and about a dozen of them in the second. The largest number of options are available in the third stage of the village, where so far only individual plots have been sold. Alternative proposals are presented in the nearby village of the PetroStil company, as well as in the villages of the Lenobeko company and from the Shtab company. In addition, a little further along the Novopriozerskoe highway, there are plots for sale in another R5 Group project - a village.

The information provided on the site, including prices, layouts, contact details of developers, etc., is taken from open sources (usually developers' websites), is for informational purposes and is changed (updated) upon request from developers' representatives. The vast territory of the Alexandria Park is made in a free landscape style, and serves as a romantic threshold for the luxurious capital of fountains.

In 1725, at the peak of his dizzying career, A. Menshikov acquired the entire plot of 115 hectares. Some sources claim that the land was granted by Peter the Great as a gift to his associate. The royal favorite immediately began the construction of a personal palace with the big name "Montcourage" (My courage). But a sudden disgrace interrupted both Menshikov's career and his unfinished project. The princes Dolgoruky, who received these lands after him, were also not listed as owners for long.

Empress Anna Ioannovna, who became the next owner, seems to have taken up the arrangement of the site, creating a Hunting Park on its territory. Extensive pens for animals were built (even tigers were brought in), and jaegers' outbuildings. They also managed to hunt: Anna Ioannovna was a lover of shooting game from a specially equipped pavilion. But in the 70s of the 18th century, Tsarskoe Selo was chosen as the site of the Tsar's country residence, and only the developed hunting economy quickly fell into decay, and the plots began to be used for vegetable gardens and cattle pastures. Two decades later, pitiful ruins remained from the unfinished Menshikov Palace, and the elegant hunting pavilion of Anna Ioannovna was pulled onto boards.

Alexandria Park - the heyday

The next owner of the lands of the Alexandria Park was Emperor Nicholas I. It was from him that the improvement of the picturesque site began, given as a gift to his beloved wife, Alexandra Fedorovna, and named after her. A summer residence in the Gothic style is being built on the upper terrace, and an artificial lake of wondrous beauty is being created on the lower (coastal) terrace.

A real miracle of architecture was the Gothic Chapel in honor of Alexander Nevsky, which perfectly fit into the landscape of the park - a small home church for members of the royal family. The building of amazing beauty, lightness and grace is distinguished by the most expressive elements of the Gothic style: stained glass windows, statues, rich artistic decor.

The grave of P. Erler, the creator of this magnificent monument and the romantic landscape of the entire park, is located near the Chapel. For 20 years, under his leadership, the landscape style of the Alexandria Park was formed.

Alexandria is separated from the Lower Park by a stone wall. The terrain is the best suited for the landscape style. Cozy free glades alternate with ravines and hills, they are crossed by winding paths and shady alleys, freely overgrown with trees. Everything in Alexandria breathes rural liberty. The harsh Ruined Bridge made of rough stone seems to be waiting for a romantic hero - a brave knight in armor. The sea - and it is visible from many points of the park, only enhances this free motive.

The green diversity of the Alexandria Park is impressive - linden, birch, maple, ash, poplar. Outlandish exotics brought from distant countries also took root.

Architectural buildings of Alexandria

Almost all architectural forms are more or less Gothic elements. The most original building is the already mentioned Chapel. On the site of the Menshikov ruins, on the upper terrace, a palace was built in the English style "under the Gothic" - Cottage. The palace offers a beautiful panorama of the Gulf of Finland.

Despite the Gothic appearance, inside the Cottage is furnished in a typical Russian romantic style. The facades of the palace were decorated with a coat of arms designed specifically for Alexandria. Its author was the famous poet V.A. Zhukovsky - and the coat of arms turned out to be very poetic: inside a delicate wreath of white roses - a naked sword.

The creators sought to emphasize the pastoral nature of the residence - and not far from the palace, a Farm with outbuildings grew up. Later it was rebuilt into a solid building, to which only the name remained from the farm - "Farm Palace".

The last building is the four-story palace of Nicholas II (Lower Dacha) on the seashore. Its walls kept the memory of the most important events in the life of the royal family. Here Nikolai signed a manifesto on Russia's participation in the First World War. Here, newly married Nicholas II and his wife Alexandra Fedorovna lived their first family summer. Their son, Tsarevich Alexei, was born here. Like many Peterhof complexes, Alexandria was badly damaged during the war of 1941-1945. Ruins remained of the Lower Dacha. Architects are currently working on a project to restore it.

The rest of Alexandria's buildings have been completely restored, and the park is the best example of landscape style.

From the history of Peterhof monuments

The October Revolution left its mark on the history of Alexandria - a museum of one event was opened in the park - the railway car of the royal train, in which Nicholas II signed the Act of Abdication. An exposition about the collapse of tsarist power and the imperialist war was placed in the next carriage. In the 50s of the 20th century, inappropriate wagon monuments were removed from the territory of the Alexandria Park.

Alexandria Park is a palace and park ensemble located to the east of the Lower Park of Peterhof, and with its northern part overlooking the Gulf of Finland. From 1830 to 1917 Alexandria Park was the residence of four generations of the Romanov dynasty.

The ensemble got its name in honor of its first owner, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, wife of Nicholas I. Alexandria Park is part of the Peterhof museum complex.

The lands located to the east of the Lower Park belonged to Alexei Menshikov at the beginning of the 18th century, who began to build the Montcourage Palace here, which means “My Courage” in French. In 1727, the favorite of Peter the Great fell into disgrace, his palace was never completed, and soon the Menshikov lands were transferred to the princes Dolgoruky.

However, the Dolgorukiy did not care about the land at all, and in 1733 Anna Ioanovna became the owner of this territory, who decided to arrange a hunting park here, where deer, buffalo and wild boars, hares and even tigers were brought.

In the upper part of the park, a corral for animals was built, and next to the Gulf of Finland, a wooden Tempel pavilion, from which the empress shot at animals released from the corral.

In the 70s of the XVIII century, the royal family increasingly chose Tsarskoye Selo as a summer residence, and gradually the Okhotnichiy Park fell into decay. The Montcourage Palace fell into ruins, and the Tempel pavilion was dismantled.

With the coming to power of Nicholas I, these lands become the property of his wife Alexandra Feodorovna, who decided to create a garden and park ensemble here.

In 1826, in the upper part of the park, according to the project of the architect Adam Menelas, who arrived from Scotland during the reign of Catherine II, the construction of the palace began. In 1829, when the main work was completed, Nicholas I ordered the park to be named Alexandria in honor of his wife.

At the same time, at the request of the emperor, the coat of arms of the park was approved in the form of a Varangian shield on a blue background, on which a golden sword is depicted, passed through a wreath of roses and an inscription in golden letters: “For Faith, Tsar and Fatherland”.

For 20 years, garden master Peter Erler has been creating a romantic landscape park.

Alexandria Park consists of the upper terrace, where all the main buildings are located - the Cottage, the Farm Palace and the Chapel, as well as the coastal part, where the Lower Dacha of Nicholas II is located.

lower dacha

In the lower part of Alexandria Park, in its northeastern corner, on the seashore, there was a four-story palace of Nicholas II - the Lower Dacha.

The building was created in the mid-80s of the 19th century by the architect Anthony Tomishko, and 10 years later he built an annex to the pavilion for children.

The only son of Nicholas II, Alexei, was born in the Lower Palace. Here the emperor signed a manifesto on Russia's entry into the First World War.

After the revolution, a museum was created in the building, but soon it was closed, giving the building a boarding house for the NKVD.

The buildings in Alexandria Park are Gothic rather than ceremonial, which lends charm to the ensemble and emphasizes their private character.

Alexandria Park in Peterhof was the favorite dacha of the Romanovs, where you can enjoy the sun and flowers, groves and expanses of meadows, the sun and the bottomless sky. This is an example of a landscape style park, which is an outstanding monument of Russian landscape architecture of the 19th century.

When you visit castles, country estates or city residences of rulers or just famous people, for some reason you perceive them only as museums that you must visit, but not as human housing in which people lived, worked, loved, raised children, suffered , rejoiced ... Maybe because over the decades and even centuries of the absence of the owners, the spirit of the house has weathered, or numerous destructions and subsequent restorations have forever changed the building, made it non-residential? It is a completely different matter in Alexandria Park, which is part of the famous palace and park ensemble Peterhof (Petrodvorets) in the Leningrad Region.

Initially, Peter I allocated these lands for dachas to his subjects, the owners changed over the years, among them was Alexander Menshikov, then they passed to the princes Dolgoruky, after the Empress Anna Ioannovna arranged a hunting park here. And only in 1825, Emperor Nicholas I became the owner, who presented these possessions to his wife Alexandra Feodorovna (nee Prussian princess Friederike-Louise-Charlotte-Wilhelmina) and the estate was named "Alexandria" in her honor. At that time, we could hardly visit these places freely - the personal property of the imperial family was vigilantly guarded by the Cossacks and the police.

Alexandria Park was laid out in 1826, but work continued over the years. The park gradually acquired its own special features, it seemed that romantic, cozy corners formed by themselves, paths were laid, bridges were built ... At the same time, under the guidance of architect Adam Menelas, the construction of a country house or cottage began. For three years the Palace-cottage in the Gothic style was built. Nicholas I, the son of the emperor-knight Paul I, was also brought up in the romantic traditions of chivalry. Despite the love affairs, the lady of his heart has always been the "White Rose", as Princess Charlotte was called. As a tribute to knightly traditions, the facades of the Palace Cottage are decorated with the coat of arms of Alexandria - a shield with a sword surrounded by a wreath of white roses, a symbol invented by the poet V.A. Zhukovsky, teacher of the Russian language of the Empress and tutor of the heirs.

Located on two terraces - the coastal one, which borders the Gulf of Finland and the upper one, on which the main buildings are located, the park occupies about 115 hectares. From west to east, straight as an arrow, the park is pierced by Nikolskaya alley. This is perhaps the only straight road in Alexandria, all other alleys, paths and paths twist, bend, intertwine with each other, creating a bizarre network in such a way that the landscape is viewed most effectively from different points. Thanks to the work of the remarkable garden master P.I. Rare exotic trees and shrubs have also been preserved here. A deep natural ravine is skillfully inscribed in the landscape, in which a waterfall was made with the help of a dam. A pond dug in front of the northern facade of the house was connected to the general water system of the park. The romantic character of the park was also given by small architectural forms - gazebos, garden sculptures and pavilions, in which the Gothic style was also visible. One of the interesting architectural finds of A. Menelas was a bridge built of roughly hewn stone slabs and granite boulders with a railing of birch trunks. The bridge, called Ruinny, since the ruins of the Menshikov Palace "Montcourage" were nearby, ironically after the war of 1941-1945. he himself was in ruins.

Passing the Ruined Bridge, we will see the Farm Palace. Initially, it was a real farm with cows, then the building was completed, remodeled and eventually turned into a real two-story palace, which became the summer residence of the next emperor, Alexander II. There is evidence that it was in the Farm Palace that the emperor conceived a decree on the abolition of serfdom. The farm itself was transferred to a house specially built near the southern border of Alexandria, which is called the New Farm.

One of the pearls of Alexandria is the summer house church of the royal family, consecrated in honor of Alexander Nevsky. Many details of this building were made of cast iron, the statues of saints were made of copper. The windows were decorated with stained-glass windows. The elements of Gothic architecture are most clearly expressed in the church building, which may be why it is better known as the Gothic Chapel.

Between the Farm Palace and the Gothic Chapel is a majestic stone. The inscription says that this is a tombstone of Pyotr Ivanovich Erler, a master gardener who took part in the creation of many parks, contributed to the compilation of the "Practical Manual for the Garden Team", which at that time was actively used by many professional gardeners. Initially, P.I. Erler was buried at the Holy Trinity Cemetery, but in 1970 his ashes were transferred to the territory of Alexandria. Not far from the Farm Palace there is another monument - a granite obelisk, erected in 1932. This is a kind of tribute to all known and unknown people who participated in the creation of parks and palaces of Peterhof. The inscription on the marble plaque reads: "To working people - the builders of Peterhof." Probably, this monument rightfully belongs to the modern servants of the Peterhof museum complex, to all workers, agronomists, architects, caretakers ...

A later building is the so-called Lower Dacha or Lower Palace, located at the northern border of Alexandria, on the very shore of the Gulf of Finland. It all started with the construction of the pavilion of "Italian architecture" for Emperor Alexander III, then, at the behest of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II, the pavilion turned into a four-story palace in the Italian style. It was here, on August 12, 1904, that the heir to the throne, Tsarevich Alexei, was born. In Alexandria Park, he had his own small field, where he sowed rye and harvested it himself with a sickle. Fulfilling his testament: “When I die, put a small monument to me in the park,” a sculpture of a youth in a sailor suit was placed near the Cottage Palace. Unfortunately, only the ruins of the Lower Dacha have survived to this day.

Numerous visitors to the park and its buildings note that, unlike the nearby grand palaces and regular parks, the quiet, almost reserved corner of Alexandria leaves a feeling of presence ... Whom? Probably former owners, members of the Romanov royal family, Russian autocrats. It seems that someone has just left the office, that the voices of playing children are still heard in the park, and unfinished embroidery will wait for its mistress.

Alexandria Park is located on the territory once granted by Peter I as land for private ownership. The owners of the land were constantly changing, until 1725. Among the owners were Prince Menshikov, and later, his opponents - Princes Dolgoruky

In 1733, the land passed into the possession of Empress Anna Ioannovna, who decides to build a hunting park here. Especially for this purpose, a huge number of different animals were brought in, including deer, buffaloes, wild boars, hares, as well as such outlandish animals as tigers. The Empress loved to shoot animals driven out of the pen by hunting dogs.

After some time, Alexandria Park falls into decay, as the empress chose another place for herself, the buildings were dismantled for materials, and a period of devastation began. Only in 1825, Nicholas I became interested in these lands, who presented them to his wife as a dacha. By 1829, a Gothic palace was built here, as well as farms for breeding animals.

A new period in the development of the park began after the Revolution in 1920. This place has been turned into a museum. During the Second World War, the territory was badly damaged, most of the valuables were looted or destroyed. Only in 1978, after a large-scale reconstruction, the palace-cottage was restored.

In our time, various park structures are still being restored, for example, in 2010 the farm palace was opened for tours, and the Ruin Bridge was restored two years earlier. Thanks to the painstaking work of architects and restorers, it is gradually possible to bring the lost historical heritage back to life.
