Klong Muang is the calmest beach in Krabi. Klong Muang - a wild beach in Krabi province Review of Klong Muang Beach

Krabi beaches are the best in Thailand, and Klong Muang is one of the best in Krabi. This is a magnificent, wide and long - about 4 km, strip of clean sand, surrounded by coconut palms and casuarinas - pine trees with long and soft needles. Right behind the beach the real jungle begins. There are very few people here, just a few impromptu cafes and no beach attributes. However, this is an advantage, not a disadvantage: Klong Muang looks like a beach in the classic “bounty” style.

Not all package tourists and simply lovers of fun and active recreation know about its existence. Those who want to relax in silence and solitude come here and specifically look for a less crowded place.

Conventionally, Klong Muang Beach is divided into two parts: the left (southern), quieter, and the right, where there is a small pier and there are some signs of civilization. A beautiful road leads straight to the southern end of the beach and ends at a small area in front of which you can park your vehicle and buy some food (mainly fruit). There is a canopy built over the site (here you can hide from the sun) and there is a sign with the name (though in Thai).

The sand of the beach is yellowish-cream, very fine: when dry it resembles flour, and when wet it resembles delicate dough for shortbread cookies. There are many small holes in the sand - these are crab holes, which is quite expected, given the name of the province.

The entry into the sea is gentle and comfortable - despite the presence of a certain number of boulders, it is safe for children and the elderly.

However, at low tide it is impossible to swim - the water goes too far. The sea is clean and calm, but you won’t see any living creatures here.

Beach location

Klong Muang is a small village 30 km north of Krabi Town. The most famous and democratic beach of Krabi - Ao Nang - is located 15 km to the south, and the status of Tubkaek is 3 km to the north. Getting to Klong Muang is easy, but not too cheap: public transport and tuk-tuks do not go here. The only thing left is a taxi: you can order it in the city, at the airport, online on the website of an agency or at a hotel - we recommend booking your accommodation in advance, especially during the high season. It will cost about 1000 baht (about $30).

For those who are planning to rent a motorbike in Krabi, getting to the wonderful beach will not be difficult. There are signs along the road, so it is very difficult to “miss”.

Hotels near the beach

The choice of housing is quite sufficient, but mostly these are mini-hotels, apartments or guesthouses, with a minimum range of services. Most are located within a 10 - 20 minute leisurely walk from the beach. Those that correspond to the usual idea of a resort hotel: with a vast territory, a variety of services and a restaurant are very expensive. However, they correspond to the stated stars and are located directly on the beach. There are few very cheap options.

  • Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort (in the southern part),
  • Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf and Spa Resort (in the northern part),
  • Nakamanda Resort & Spa (in the center).

What to see around the beach

There are no attractions in the village other than magnificent landscapes. For entertainment you will have to go to Ao Nang, but it will take no more than 15 - 20 minutes. True, this is more convenient for those who are going to rent a motorbike. Taxis can be ordered at the hotel or at a special parking lot. There are tour desks where you can purchase excursions. From Ao Nang there are ferries to the islands: Koh Lanta, Phuket, Phi Phi, Koh Phangan.

A little about infrastructure

There are not many cafes in the village, but the quality of food and service is decent, and the prices are by no means extortionate.

Of course, we can’t talk about any shopping, but there is a supermarket, several shops with goods necessary for vacation, such as T-shirts or hats, and all kinds of souvenirs. The market is only open on Fridays, so if you plan to stay in Khlong Muang for less than a week, you may not be able to catch it. Of course, there are massage parlors. There will be no problems with currency exchange - there is an exchange office and there are ATMs.

Who will like Khlong Muang

  • For families with children,
  • For couples looking for a place for a secluded romantic getaway,
  • To old people,
  • For those who dream of a relaxing holiday in a beautiful and comfortable corner of Thailand.

And finally, a very useful tip: in the low season - from April to October, there is nothing to do in Klong Muang: rain, heat, the sea washes all kinds of garbage ashore. Even exceptionally favorable housing prices will not reduce your disappointment from bad weather.

This is a place for lovers of secluded relaxation. The long coastline is covered with soft sand, which is great for lounging alone. In a couple of hours on the beach, you may not meet anyone at all (especially in the low season from April to October). There is no entertainment - jet skis, paragliders, discos, noisy bars. People come here not for this - but for the sun, sea and silence. Unlike, there is no paved road near the coast, so a few hotels are located on the first line, 10-50 meters from the sea.

The place is very picturesque, there are many trees providing shade. This is more than necessary, since there are no sun loungers or parasols.

But you should not conclude that Klong Muang beach is located far from civilization, almost in the jungle. No, there is a small village nearby and in the southern part you can see many boats of local residents. There is everything you need - restaurants (Sunset Restaurant, The Terrace, Daddy's Home, Thai Cuisine, Kanya's), shops, several inexpensive guesthouses (at some distance from the sea).

The restaurant menu is designed not only for Thais, but also for tourists. Large selection of seafood dishes, barbecue, pizza, steaks. International menu prevails in hotel restaurants and you can choose your food according to your taste.

How to get to Klong Muang Beach

Own transport

Rent a motorcycle (150-200 baht per day) and go! It is better to do this in Ao Nang. The fastest way to the place is through. You drive along the Ao Nang embankment, then continue along Nopparat Thara. Soon the road turns right away from the sea. After about 5 minutes there will be a sign to the left towards Klong Muang. Turn left and drive along the road for another 10 minutes. There will be signs everywhere, so don’t get lost. Not far from the beach you will see a sign: to the right - , straight - Klong Muang Beach. Two more minutes and you are there. The total travel time takes 15-20 minutes depending on the speed.

Taxi

There are no tuk-tuks/songthaews going to Klong Muang; you can only get there by taxi. You can use the services of a motorcycle taxi, which will take you to the place for 200-300 baht (travel time - 40 minutes). There are both regular taxis and motorbike taxis. Prices are negotiable, bargaining is acceptable. If you have booked a hotel, the price may include a transfer and you will be met at the airport or bus station.

It's easier to get there from Ao Nang. There are red taxis on every corner that will give you a ride for 500-600 baht. If you arrive at Ao Nang Pier, there are taxi drivers there too. The drive to Klong Muang is only 15 minutes (and with a breeze, 10 minutes).

Bus tickets to Krabi can be found in.

Hotels in Khlong Muang

All hotels are designed for a wealthy audience and are luxury hotels with all the amenities - swimming pools, restaurants, spas. The rooms have air conditioning, satellite TV, refrigerator, minibar, safe, shower with cold and hot water. Since there are few hotels here, there is practically no competition and the prices are quite high.

Klong Muang is a quiet, deserted beach without infrastructure, some distance from. There is a small village here, but there is little in it; you will have to go to Ao Nang to go to a pharmacy or bank. However, for almost everything else, too.

But there are several expensive beach resorts here, where mostly pensioners and families with children relax. The sea near the beach is shallow and it is very convenient for children to swim in it.

The beach consists of two parts - southern and northern, and in the middle there is a small island right next to the shore. In the northwest the beach ends with a pier. Further north is Tab Kaek Beach. The southern part of the beach is completely deserted.

Entering the water, depth and waves

The sand on the beach is light, with a yellow tint. The entry into the sea on the beach is very smooth, near the shore it is very shallow, you have to walk several tens of meters to the depth. In addition, this beach has very pronounced low tides, during which the water goes very far into the sea and it is clear that there are stones at the bottom, from very small placers to large boulders.

They are found here and there and are not sharp, half buried in the sand, so they do not pose a danger when swimming. You can also walk along the shore and look for areas where the entrance to the sea is practically free of stones.

In general, the beach is very convenient for children to swim. The sea water and sand here are clean. Since there are several expensive resorts located on the beach, it is well maintained and trash is removed.

Sunbeds and shade

Along the beach there are palm trees in some places, broad-leaved tropical trees in some places, and there is also a strip of tall casuarinas. These trees are similar to conifers and provide good shade during the day. There is no infrastructure on the beach, only a couple of beach cafes with bamboo chairs in the shade of trees.

Since there are no sun loungers with umbrellas for rent, vacationers will have to use the natural shade of the trees. Guests of beach hotels, of course, can sunbathe on hotel sun loungers with umbrellas, which are usually located a little further from the beach.

Infrastructure

There is no nightlife on the beach, as well as special infrastructure. Just a couple of shops, a couple of cafes on the beach and in the village, a couple of travel agencies and massage parlors. One of the nicest places on the beach is the small beach cafe Sunset Bar.

However, resorts in Thailand are developing rapidly, so perhaps soon the beach will have a standard tourist infrastructure with a full range of entertainment. But then this place will lose its charm of a quiet village beach without people. There are bike rentals and an ATM.

Houses and hotels on the beach

Of the expensive resorts on the beach, first of all we can name:

But I would not recommend settling on the right side of the beach. In my opinion, the beach there is worse, and there is a road along the beach along which cars drive and generate dust. On the left side of the beach, on the contrary, there is complete silence and tranquility, because that’s what people come here for.

It is very difficult to find monthly rent here, there are few options. There is literally one, we lived in it for several days. The owners are different, so the prices can also be different. In principle, there are simple rooms or houses in the area, but still, mass housing is only available in Aonang.

Be sure (and I insist) to check for discounts or special offers on a great service. It will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more interesting than for exactly the same hotels on Booking.com.

How to find the beach

The beach is located 14 km from Ao Nang and the easiest way to get there is by taxi or tuk-tuk. If you are on transport, then you can do it yourself. Drive along the road along the Ao Nang embankment towards Nopparat Thara beach. Then the road goes along and turns inland from the sea, to the right.

After a few minutes of travel along this road there will be a sign for Klong Muang - to the left. Further there are several more signs, at the end, in front of Klong Muang beach, there will be another sign to the right - to Tubkaek beach. But straight ahead, you’ll be there in a couple of minutes. In total, the journey from Ao Nang to Klong Muang usually takes a little more than 15 minutes.

is a tranquil beach on the Andaman Sea coast in the Krabi province of Thailand. It is located very close to the main tourism center in Krabi and, first of all, is interesting for its quiet atmosphere. It is good to relax here with children for those who want to choose one place and stay there for the entire vacation and do not really like noisy resorts. The sea here is much cleaner than on Ao Nang beach, and the presence of new and good hotels on Klong Muang Beach and small infrastructure will allow you to enjoy a leisurely holiday to the fullest. In this article I will tell you in detail about Klong Muang Beach and recommend the best hotels on its territory.

Rest on Klong Mueang beach in Krabi has not yet become as popular as in Ao Nang. And there’s no point in comparing it with Phuket at all. However, this also attracts those who have already learned about the paradise place very close (only 11 km) from numerous.

Undoubtedly plus Khlong Muang you can call it a clean beach and a clear sea. Previously, it seemed to me that such cleanliness could not be found on the mainland of Krabi. However, I was dissuaded when I found out about Klng Muang. So if you are going to vacation in Thailand in the provinces, and are not going to overpay for hotels on islands like this, be sure to take Klong Muang Beach into consideration.

Moreover, Thai tourists have done this for a very long time: on Klong Muang there is luxury five star hotels, including the stunning Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort. All beach tourism connoisseurs will immediately remember the hotel of the same brand, one of the leaders in luxury holidays. And in Krabi they built their resort based on the Sheraton. So the conclusions are clear: Klong Muang beach is considered one of the best in Krabi.

  • The Klong Muang beach itself is quite large and long - as much as 4 km of white sand, like where I was, and therefore I know what I’m talking about (read my article about the beaches of the Maldives).
  • It can be divided into two parts: in the center of the beach there is a small island sticking out of the water. To the north of it is located all the infrastructure and most of the hotels. To the south the beach is better and there are fewer hotels.
  • So, by moving a little further from the hotels, you can generally enjoy peace and quiet all day.

So if you love sleepy days under the sun, you definitely need to go to Klong Muang Beach in Krabi!

The sea on Klong Muang beach is quite clean, almost turquoise in color and shallow (almost like). This makes holidays with children on Klong Muang preferable among the entire Krabi coast. I only recommend carefully choosing a place to rest and swim because sometimes you still find sharp stones at the bottom.

I would say the main disadvantage of this almost perfect beach in Krabi is the low tides. They are quite strong here in any direction, although not as strong as on the neighboring Nopparat Tara. If the depth of the sea is critical for you, choose.

Hotel White Sand House Krabi 2*

Klong Muang Beach, located 13 km north of Ao Nang in Thailand. If there was a direct route from Ao Nang to the beach, the road would be much shorter. But since you need to get there along a winding highway, the total length of the journey is approximately 13 km.

Klong Muang is for those who are tired of the hustle and bustle and want to completely devote themselves to relaxation. A strip of white sand stretches along the coastline. It’s great to lie on it, enjoying the sound of the waves, or just take a walk. You may not even see anyone along the way - the beach is empty from May to October, when there is no swimming season.

Infrastructure

Unlike an ordinary beach, Klong Muang does not have the usual noisy bars, clubs and other typical tourist places familiar to Russian-speaking tourists, with the exception of Paddy’s Pub, which is mostly filled with live music and visitors during the high season. The beach awaits those who come to Thailand to swim in the sea and sunbathe.

Klong Muang is a wild beach. There are no sun loungers or umbrellas, so take everything with you. But there are many trees on the beach that provide shade, which can replace any awnings and roofs.

If you have already decided that Klong Muang is far from civilization, do not rush to conclusions. Nearby is a small village. Everything you need is available.

Restaurants (Sunset Restaurant, The Terrace, Daddy’s Home, Thai Cuisine, Kanya’s), shops, including 7/11, guest houses - all this is opened nearby by enterprising Thais. The menu in restaurants - also intended for tourists - is not only a unique local cuisine. There is pizza, pasta, steaks and other dishes. It’s not difficult to find food to suit your taste in Khlong Muang.

The beach is also good because it is located not so far from the main local party spot -. The tourist infrastructure here is much more developed - cafes, restaurants and bars, travel agencies and tour guides are available to guests. But at the moment, Klong Muang is still a resort for families and retirees.

Hotels

There are few hotels here, and all of them are aimed at wealthy people. At your service is the entire complex of 4-5 star hotel infrastructure: rooms with sea views, spa, buffet. The cost of such hotels is appropriate, but almost all of them are located on the first line. But, since there are no smooth asphalt roads near the beach, hotels on the first line are those that are located 10-50 m from the sea.

There are also options for budget tourists - guesthouses. They are located further from the coastline, but much cheaper. In general, guesthouses in Thailand are very popular - they are inexpensive, have a full range of essential services, and often have very hospitable owners who serve the guests themselves.

How to get there

The most convenient way to get to Klong Muang is in 2 ways: motorbike and taxi. Motorbike can be rented here at any kiosk. This is the most popular type of transport among Thais, along with cars - it’s not hot, there are no traffic jams, the speed is quite high.

When renting transport, get to the beach following the signs. The best thing is to rent a motorbike. Rental points can be found anywhere in Ao Nang. The shortest route from Ao Nang to Klong Muang is through Nopparat Thara - also a beach.

Continue along the Ao Nang waterfront and then continue along Nopparat Thara. After 5 minutes you will need to turn left at the sign for Klong Muang and drive another 10 minutes. Then there will be signs everywhere - don’t get lost. It's only a couple of minutes drive to Klong Muang. And the total travel time is 15-20 minutes by motorbike.

Taxis are also a good way to get to the beach. Motorcycle taxis stop at bus stations and will take you to your destination for $6-9 (200-300 baht). The trip is approximately 40 minutes. Regular taxis are also available. Bargaining is appropriate. You can also book a hotel with a transfer - then you will be met directly at.

If you are coming from Ao Nang, it will be easier. Red taxis stand on every corner and a ride costs $14-17 (500-600 baht). Taxi drivers will take you there in 15-20 minutes.
