This monument is located not far from the administrative building of Gazprom, the choice of location was not accidental, it is here that the 66th parallel is located, so to speak, a conventional line beyond which the territory of the Arctic Circle begins. Previously, a monument was erected at this place; local residents and guests of Novy Urengoy came here to perform various rituals or make a wish. Very often newlyweds came here to tie a ribbon and take memorable photographs. And now, a few years later, the old monument was replaced by a new one.

Many people associate this variety with the Battle of Borodino and call it funeral bread. Monument to Borodino bread

The monument to Borodino bread in Novy Urengoy appeared in 2012. The monument was erected next to the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov. The monument was opened during the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the victory in the war with Napoleon. The monument to Borodino bread is a huge pedestal on which a St. George ribbon with a banner is placed. On them lies a huge loaf of rye bread. Several even pieces were cut off from the side of the hump. This monument was erected in Novy Urengoy for a reason. Borodino bread symbolizes the Battle of Borodino. People call this type of bread funeral bread. Many people associate every smallest detail of the bun with something. Thus, coriander, which is usually sprinkled on top of bread, is very similar to cartel, the resulting dark color of the bun is a grief that befell the country during the war.

This monument is one of the interesting attractions in the city. Many public figures and the entire city administration came to its opening. Near the monument, the cadets laid a capsule with soil. The lighting ceremony for the monument was conducted by Oleg Nelin, rector of the Temple of St. Seraphim of Sarov. After the illumination, he distributed pieces of Borodino bread to everyone who wanted it.

When buying Borodinsky bread in a store, hardly anyone thinks about why Borodino bread? Many associate it with rye black bread. In fact, the story is this: at one time a monastery was built on the Borodino field, it was founded by the widow of a killed soldier, and this bread was baked there. Exactly 200 years ago, the Russian army defeated and put to flight Napoleon’s large army. The Battle of Borodino is considered the bloodiest in the history of the 19th century: about 80 thousand soldiers and officers died on both sides.

The right to open the monument and place a capsule with soil in it, which was brought specially from the Borodino field, was entrusted to the best cadets of the gas capital. This is not so much a monument to bread, they noted here, as to those great historical events of two centuries ago. Each participant in the ceremony was treated to a piece of real rye Borodino bread, which has been baked in Novy Urengoy for many years.

In any Russian city or outback, in almost every grocery store, you can buy a loaf of fragrant Borodino bread. And even though bakers produce this bread with their own flavor, the main thing is that it is still baked, passing on a unique recipe from generation to generation.

“...Yamal is harsh in the January fury, In the cold, equipment breaks down, But even those who froze in the tundra, Say that there is nothing more beautiful than Urengoy...” - Valery Khalansky

The monument to railway workers is one of the most striking symbols of the city. The monument represents a real TEZ-3003 locomotive, donated in honor of the 30th anniversary of the arrival of the first train in the city. This landmark is not just a reminder of historical events, but is also a direct participant in an important moment in the history of New Urengoy. Or rather, not even a participant, but the main character of a significant date.

It was this locomotive that in 1982 brought the first building materials to begin the extensive construction of the railway, which in the future would connect the gas capital with the “mainland”.

The monument to railway workers, first of all, is a symbol of gratitude and respect to those who, more than 30 years ago, with their own hands laid the steel track that connected Urengoy with other cities of our country. This is not just a way to perpetuate history, it is a way to preserve the memory of the real labor feat of the residents of the Siberian city of Novy Urengoy.

Monument to the locomotive The presentation was prepared by Anastasia Petrova, 8a student of the MAOU Secondary School “Native Land”

An attraction in Novy Urengoy is the monument to the locomotive. Such an unusual monument was erected in connection with the history of the city, because the railway plays an important role in the city. To build the city, a large amount of building materials was needed, and various foodstuffs for the residents; trains brought everything they needed, and nothing hindered the construction of the city.

It was decided to erect the monument near the central station, on Privokzalnaya Street. The TEZ-3003 locomotive was donated to the city on the day in honor of the thirtieth anniversary of the Yamal Railway Company station. This diesel locomotive was not chosen by chance, because many years ago it was he who first brought building materials and other things for the construction of the city.

For many years the diesel locomotive was in the depot of the city of Nadym; it was completely restored by the best craftsmen in this business. And only after that, he was sent to Novy Urengoy to take his well-deserved, honorable place as a landmark.

The only people waiting for the arrival of the locomotive were the workers of the railway station and the foremen who were supposed to install it. The installation of the diesel locomotive was very complex; large cables were made and piles were driven in for fastening. A large amount of heavy equipment was involved during the installation. The work went on until late at night until the entire diesel locomotive was installed on a pedestal. In a few days, everyone could come and see the landmark, which would remind of the history and development of the region.

Monument to Sabit Atayevich Orudzhev The presentation was prepared by an 8th grade student, Anastasia Kiseleva.

The fate of the city is very closely connected with the name of this man. Sabit Atayevich was a scientist, organizer of the country's energy complex, as well as a Hero of Socialist Labor, and during the USSR he was appointed Minister of the Gas Industry. In 1973, on September 23, Sabit Atayevich uttered the phrase “A new city of builders and gas workers will be built here.” He made a huge contribution to the development of gas fields in Novy Urengoy.

The opening of the monument took place in 2003 on October 24. The city administration decided to erect a monument on the campus; this place was chosen so that students of the institute would see and strive to reach such heights as Sabit Atayevich Orujov.

For city residents, this monument is a tribute to the memory of the person thanks to whom their native land was so transformed. After all, he was among the first to help build one of the main cities of the gas industry in Russia.

On city celebration days, many residents come to the monument with flowers. Recently, first-year students at the Institute of Gas Industry have developed a custom to make their studies easier by bringing a bouquet of flowers to the monument. Therefore, at the beginning of autumn, the area near the monument resembles a beautiful garden.

New Urengoy

The main industry of New Urengoy is gas. Thus, the leading giant enterprises in this area are GazProm Dobycha Urengoy, GazProm Dobycha Yamburg, Arcticgaz, Rosneftegaz, the Urengoy Drilling branch and other important large enterprises.

Almost all labor resources (over 80%) are employed in the fuel and energy industries. Some of the main enterprises in these areas: Burgaz, Urengoygazprom, Tyumenenergo, Mobile Energy and others. On the territory of the Russian Federation, Urengoy is among the top ten in terms of per capita income.

However, despite such profitable city-forming conditions, wages for city residents in these harsh climatic conditions are not so easy to obtain. The city is located in the north of Western Siberia and once again cannot pamper its residents with good weather. The warmest month here is July with an average temperature of plus 17.1 °C.

New Ugengoy is also called the “city of white nights”. Almost all summer it is as bright as day here. This is explained by its proximity to the Arctic Circle. The townspeople themselves affectionately call their Urenga “Nur”.

Despite the unfavorable natural conditions, the infrastructure of New Urengoy is pleasantly pleasing. Everything here is thought out to the smallest detail. Nur can safely boast about his means of transportation. Surprisingly, air transport is still the most popular. Seasonal flights between Novy Urengoy and Mineralnye Vody are popular. The railway is well developed, represented mainly by Russian Railways trains, but there is also a branded train “Yamal”

The city's road network is well developed; in addition to the main roads, there are also bypass routes; there are almost no traffic jams.

Road bridge

Nur’s social infrastructure is also encouraging: about 40 preschool institutions, 24 schools, a local “Support” Center for children with disabilities, 7 branches of Russian higher educational institutions have been opened, among which is the Yamal Oil and Gas Institute.

Healthcare is well developed, there are 11 medical institutions. In addition, the gas capital has a number of sports institutions, city palaces, as well as cultural and sports centers.

However, Novy Urengoy cannot boast of many of its attractions. Their list is quite modest. In any case, upon arrival in the city, you can rent an apartment for daily rent in Novy Urengoy.

The Novy Urengoy Museum of Fine Arts, which opened its doors to visitors in 1984, is definitely worth a visit. It is located on Molodezhnaya Street a stone's throw from the center. The museum collection contains paintings and graphics by local artists and young talents. The paintings mostly depict the construction of gas pipelines.

Art Museum

Right here, in the city center, you can admire the favorite place of Yamal residents in the summer - the “Sail of the Cool Summer” fountain. Its streams of water have an unusual color - milky white. Moreover, each of them consists of a huge number of bubbles. At the same time, this fountain resembles a “blue flower” of gas.

Fountain “Sail of a Cool Summer”

It is also worth looking at the monument to the great Russian scientist, who at one time was involved in organizing the entire energy complex - Sabit Atayevich Orujev.

Novy Urengoy residents visit the wooden church of St. Seraphim of Sarov. The temple is located on the outskirts of the Druzhba microdistrict on the banks of the Sede-Yakha River. In the fall of 2014, it is planned to complete the construction of the tallest building in the city - the Epiphany Cathedral.

The construction of a new multifunctional station has been completed.

One of the attractions of New Urengoy is clean air. The natural attractions here can delight you with their beauty. Among them is the picturesque Lake Molodezhnoe. Every winter it hosts a festival of the peoples of the north, where mass celebrations and competitions in various sports are held.

What can I say, the harsh Siberian conditions attract few people. People go to the northern city of Novy Urengoy mainly in search of work, the pay for which is quite decent. Having come here once, renting an apartment for a day in Novy Urengoy, you may stay here for a long time: some will be attracted by the income and well-established social sphere, and others by the harsh and at the same time pure and picturesque nature.
