Rest in Loo.
The village of Loo (adyg. Leup, Abaz. Loo) is located near the Black Sea coast, at the mouth of the Loo river of the same name, in the Lazarevsky district of the “resort city of Sochi” in the Krasnodar Territory. Loo is located in a narrow seaside valley and is surrounded on three sides by mountains and ranges. The terrain in the village is predominantly hilly. Average heights are about 30 meters above sea level. The absolute height in the vicinity of the village reaches 308 meters above sea level. All this is the territory of the Sochi National Park and the Caucasian Reserve.

The main advantage of Loo is its location and natural resources. The village stretches along the sea and magnificent wide pebble beaches, while most of the other villages on the coast move away from the sea along river valleys towards the mountains. Loo borders with settlements: Lower Khobza in the northwest, Gornoye Loo in the northeast and Kuchuk-Dere in the southeast. Tourism is the main industry in the village. Loo is one of the largest resort areas on the Black Sea coast of Russia.

History of Loo. The name of the village Loo comes from the name of the largest Abaza feudal clan Lau or Lou (Loovy), who, during the period of the greatest prosperity of the Abkhazian principality, owned these territories.
In the mountains near Loo, at an altitude of about 300 meters, the ruins of a medieval Byzantine temple of the 8th-9th centuries have been preserved. It has the best preserved northern wall of the building, built of limestone blocks. The width of the temple is 11 meters, length - 20 meters, the thickness of the walls exceeds one meter. By the nature of the masonry, the temple is close to the Pitsunda and Lykhny temples in Abkhazia (see Loo temple).
Until 1864, Ubykhs from the Vardane community lived in the valley of the Loo River. Before the beginning of Muhajirism, at the mouth of the river, on the seashore, was the aul of Ismail Barakai Dzepsh, one of the leaders of the Ubykhs during the Caucasian War. After the end of the Caucasian War, the entire local population was evicted to the Ottoman Empire, for their unwillingness to obey the infidel Russian Tsar. As a result, the valley of the Loo River was deserted for several years.
Since 1872, Russian, Armenian and Greek settlers began to settle in the Loo river basin. The territory itself was included by the Russian emperor in the composition of the Vardane estate, which belonged to Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich.
Until the 1920s, the village of Loo was part of the Sochi district of the Black Sea province.
In 1923, the village was included in the Adler district. Then in 1945 it was transferred to the Lazarevsky district.
On February 10, 1961, the village of Loo was included in the resort city of Sochi, with the status of an intracity microdistrict assigned to the settlement.
On August 7, 2008, a terrorist attack occurred on Loo Beach, as a result of which two people were killed and 15 were injured, eight more people were hospitalized. The explosion of an unidentified explosive device thundered on the city beach at 10:10 Moscow time.

The climate in Loo is humid subtropical. The average annual air temperature is around +14°C, with average July temperatures around +24.5°C, and average January temperatures around +6.5°C. The average annual rainfall is about 1500 mm. Most of the precipitation falls in winter. The main tourist season lasts from May to October.

The entire length of the beach consists of small pebbles, sandy stripes are less common. The entrance to the water is gentle, in connection with this the beach is convenient for swimming with children. A rather narrow beach strip does not diminish its merits. It is harmoniously located between the wild and central beaches. Buoys are installed throughout, the beach is cleaned daily, trash cans are installed. There are various rental points: sun loungers, umbrellas, as well as scooters and catamarans. Parachuting and amateur diving are offered. In two places the beach has wooden flooring, for a more comfortable descent to the water. Equipped with special places with thatched roofs, covering from the scorching daytime sun.
The wild beach of Loo is located at a distance from the center and the pier at a distance of just over a kilometer. Noise, hum, bustle, music of cafes, bars and restaurants only a rare echo reaches such a wonderful place of rest. The beach is landscaped, buoys are installed throughout at a distance of 50 m from the seashore. Garbage bins are also installed, the entire territory is cleaned daily. The width of the beach varies from 10, in some places up to 6 m, and the length is about 600 m. The entrance to the water is gentle, without sharp drops. Pebbles of medium size sometimes alternate with sandy islands, less often there are places with large stones.
The nudist beach immediately follows the Wild one, has a narrow coastal strip of a little more than 5-7 meters, and it stretches about 1000 meters in length. From above, the beach is protected from prying eyes by a bank protection dam, entwined with wild plants. And immediately above it, 10-15 meters from the edge, there is a railway, from which the beach is also not visible. There are mountains behind it. Thus, from whichever side we look, the beach is ideal for nudists. The beach consists of pebbles, sometimes there are islands with large stones, giving this place a veiled beauty and untouchedness. There are no cafes and bars on the beach, no shops and other things. Thus, the beach is very popular with the guests of the resort.

Beach resort "Ivushka" is one of the widest among the beaches of Loo. The guests of the resort are provided with sun loungers with umbrellas. For the convenience of tourists, there are changing cabins on the shore. One of the advantages of this beach is that there are few people, even during the peak season. In the evening, a nightclub opens its doors with an interactive show program. Entrance to the beach is free.
The beach of the hotel "Russian Divny Dom" belongs to the hotel of the same name. For guests of the boarding house, a shuttle service to the shore and back is organized. There are not many houses in the immediate vicinity and therefore the sea is always spacious. Beach accessories can be rented on the beach. In the evening, the coastal bar begins its work. Free admission.
Beach boarding house "Radiant" starts at the exit of the buildings. The most important advantage can be considered remoteness from the large villages of Loo and Dagomys, which makes the beach not crowded and clean. On the territory adjacent to the shore there is an aerarium and a summer gym for exercise therapy. If you wish, you can rent sports and beach equipment.
Beach resort "White Nights" is closed to strangers, you can issue a guest ticket to get ashore. The length of the beach is approximately 150 meters. For the convenience of visitors, there are cafes and marine entertainment. After swimming, you can sunbathe on the pebbles or go to the recreation area.
Uch-Dere beach (Semashko) is the most extreme in the Loo region. Despite its narrow size, it is loved by locals and guests of the resort. It's all about the forest line that runs along the coast. It is here that people come for a picnic in order to go down to the sea after a meal. The lack of entertainment infrastructure will allow you to fully enjoy your vacation.

How to get to Loo. The federal highway A-147 "Dzhubga-

In September 2014, my husband, my one-year-old child, my parents, my two brothers and sister went on vacation by car to the sea. The road took us more than 2 days, since we live 2000 km from it. We reached Sochi, Adler, and wanted to get to Abkhazia, but they didn’t let us in due to the fact that one of the brothers turned 14 on the road a couple of days ago, and you need to have a passport (of course, we’ll do it right on the road). But we were told that even if his birthday was on the same day, you still need to have a passport (I wonder which passport office can get a passport on the same day?) But okay, this is not so important. In general, we did not cross the border, turned back and went to the village of Loo, which is located 20 km from Sochi. There, on the recommendations of our friends who had a rest in the month of July, we settled in a private hotel Fel-Adi.

They gave us a small discount - a luxury room at the price of a regular one - 250 rubles per person. He was clean and comfortable. There was air conditioning, refrigerator, TV, toilet with shower, wardrobe, kettle. We have no complaints about this.

Let me tell you a little about the village itself. Near the house where we lived, there was a Magnit store. Opposite the house there was a shop with vegetables, where prices sometimes went off scale, it happened as much as 2 times. For comparison: in the shop, a kg of watermelons cost 20 kg, and in Magnet 10.

Walking the streets, we saw various plants. Some were familiar to us - persimmon, pomegranate, some not. Beautiful palm trees and flowers grow.

fluffy "buff"

There are only 3 ATMs of Sberbank of Russia in the village, of which 1 did not work, the second was completely absent - instead of it there was just a hole in the wall. Worked third, the most distant. Next to it is a stand with the sale of goods related to the Sochi Olympics.

A sign with prices in one of the canteens - the prices are quite reasonable.

Found a house without doors in the entrance).

Funny cabbage grows in Loo - a long stick and a stalk

Everywhere racks with the proposed excursions.

It also seemed interesting to us that when a wedding car drives through the village and honks, the locals all wave to them in response.

Something else:

There are railway tracks in Loo.

In Loo itself, there are various tents with souvenirs, but the choice is small (I compare it with a trip to Kabardinka in 2012 - there was much more choice).

There is nowhere to go to Loo. Nothing to visit. There are no parks. Again, I compare it with Kabardinka - there was an Old Park, a Trout farm, and a dolphinarium.

Yes, there is, of course, a water park in Loo. BUT: my husband was there, came and said: "Sucks." Again, there is something to compare - a water park
