Mo Chit bus station in Bangkok: how to get there. Mochit bus terminal in Bangkok (Mor Chit Bus Terminal). Bangkok North Bus Terminal

If you often travel by bus (and this is the most convenient, cheapest and fastest mode of transport), then sooner or later you will find yourself at one of the bus stations. Today I will tell you about the Bangkok North Bus Station - Mo Chit.

The bus station is called Northern, because it serves the Northern direction - Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Ayutthaya, (Pakse,), (, Phnom Penh) and other less popular and well-known tourist destinations in Northern Thailand.

Also from the Mo Chit bus station you can go to the most popular tourist resorts, despite the fact that they are not located in the north. For example, you can go to, Phuket, to Pattaya,.

2. Where is it located and how to get there

The northern bus station has several names − Northern Bus Terminal, Mor Chit Bus Terminal, Bus Terminal Chatuchak(because of the proximity to the market of the same name - Chatuchak).

Mo Chit Northern Bus Terminal located here:

Get to Mo Chit bus station can be done as follows:

  1. To the underground metro station MRT - Chatuchak, then walk 15-20 minutes through or take a taxi 5 minutes.
  2. To the underground metro station BTS Skytrain - Mor Chit, then again on foot or by taxi.
  3. By city bus routes 3, 5, 28, 49, 77, 96, 104, 122, 134, 136, 138, 145, 157, 159, 170, 182, 188, 512, 529, 536, 547.
  4. By taxi - just tell the taxi driver - Mo Chit Bus Terminal, be sure to specify that he will take you to the meter, usually it is much cheaper than the fixed price.

3. How to navigate the bus station

Ticket offices at the bus station are located on the 1st and 3rd floors, on the 2nd and 4th - office space. There are a lot of cash desks, each direction has its own cash desk, and cash desks of various companies are also located separately.

As soon as you arrive at the station, they will definitely ask you where you need to go and show you where the ticket office you need is located.

On the ground floor, cash desks are located both in the building itself and outside:

Information signs are duplicated in English:

Ticket offices on the 1st floor (due to the fact that there are separate ticket offices for all directions, there are almost no queues, although there are decently people at the station):

There is a waiting room in front of the ticket office, the seats are hard everywhere, so it will be hard to wait there for a long time:

4. Where to leave things (luggage office)

At the Northern Bus Station, you can leave your luggage in the luggage room. This is very convenient if, for example, you arrived in the morning for tickets, and in the evening you need to leave the same bus station, you don’t have to carry things with you all day.

Luggage storage can be found following the signs Left Baggage:

We left on the 3rd floor (in the same place as the ticket office to Laos), but in general there are left-luggage offices on other floors.

Luggage storage is located in the corner next to the food court, you will see by the inscription Luggage Deposit Service:

Prices for storage of things (nothing, of course, is unclear, but the amount for one piece of luggage does not exceed 50 baht):

Pay, hand over your bags, get this receipt (we had a backpack and a small bag):

I do not recommend leaving valuables there, because. Not only are there no lockers, but there is usually no space in the security room, so some bags are simply left on the floor next to the pay counter. That is, there is not much security there.

There are also toilets nearby for 3 baht, hygiene items are sold separately (for example, there is no paper in the toilets):

5. Where to eat

As elsewhere in Thailand, the bus station is full of places where you can eat - from shops 7-11, ending with small chain cafes and food courts.

Each floor has its own food court (they are marked as Food Center on the signs), there are usually plenty of places, you can wait there for your flight, and at the same time have a bite to eat. True, all the names of the dishes are in Thai, but you can always just show what exactly you want.

One of these food courts:

6. Where to buy tickets to Laos

First of all, we were at the Northern Bus Station in order to leave from there to Laos, so I’ll tell you more about this.

Tickets to Laos can also be bought in advance online on the website, but this was not yet possible during our trip.

You can see the options here:

Tickets to Laos are sold only at one box office on the 3rd floor.

Climb up the stairs to the 3rd floor, then from the store 7-11 you need to go to the right:

Here they sell tickets not only to Laos, but also to other destinations, look for 99 ticket offices:

And here you can already buy a ticket to Laos (Vientiane):

There is a photo with bus options, but it makes no sense, because. buses to Laos run standard - VIP, 32 seats (i.e. 3 seats in a row):

»»» Mo Chit Bus Terminal

Mo Chit Bus Terminal

Bangkok North Bus Terminal, also known as the Mo Chit Bus Terminal, is located near the skytrain station of the same name (Mo Chit BTS station), and is in demand, first of all, when traveling to the north of Thailand, to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai , and also, when traveling to Angkor (Cambodia). Despite its name, it is not difficult to go from the northern bus station of Bangkok to other directions, to the south of Thailand (to Phuket, to Koh Samui and to Krabi), as well as to the east of the country, to Pattaya and Koh Chang.

After the closure of the minibus parking lot at Victory Monument Square, part of the minibuses migrated from there to the Mo Chit terminal. And at the moment (season 2019), the northern bus terminal is in demand not only for long-distance trips, but also for trips to the immediate vicinity of Bangkok, such as Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, etc. See full list of routes.

P.S. The northern bus terminal of Bangkok has another name, the Chatuchak Terminal (Chatuchak Bus Terminal, that's what it says on the building of the terminal itself), but the most common name is the Mo Chit terminal.

How to get to Mo Chit Bus Terminal

Although the Mo Chit bus terminal is located only one and a half kilometers from the skytrain station, it is extremely difficult to get to it on foot. There is no direct road through Chatuchak Park to the terminal, and walking along the perimeter of the park greatly lengthens the road, and such a hike does not involve any noticeable luggage.

By taxi from the skytrain station to the Mo Chit terminal, you can get there without the slightest problem, this pleasure costs about 60 baht. This amount may seem too much for such an insignificant distance, but we must not forget that in Bangkok the very fact of getting into a taxi already costs 35 baht. Motorcycle taxis on this route charge 50 baht, so there is no particular savings when using this, in general, cheap mode of transport.

The subway fare from the city center to the skytrain station Mo Chit BTS station and to the neighboring subway station Chatuchak Park MRT station is around 40 baht (subway payment in Bangkok is zoned), subway trains run frequently, with an interval of several minutes, travel time , taking into account the waiting time of the train, is from 20 to 30 minutes.

How to cheaply get to Mo Chit bus station by city bus

How to find the city bus stand at the Mo Chit terminal

The list of city buses running from the Mo Chit terminal is posted above. You can go not only to the skytrain station Mo Chit and Khaosan Road, but also in other directions. To Victory Monument Square, to the railway. Hua Lamphong Station, Samut Prakan, etc.

How to find the minibus parking at the Mo Chit terminal

Like the parking lot of city buses, the parking lot of minibuses at the Mo Chit terminal is located outside the territory of the bus station, in an unobvious place. Namely, on the opposite side of the road leading to the terminal, between the pillars of the toll highway.

The hike from the Mo Chit bus station building to the minibus parking lot is as follows: you need to stand with your back to the main entrance to the terminal and walk straight 100 meters through a small square located in front of the terminal building; after that, you need to cross the highway on one of the two pedestrian bridges; from the height of the bridges, the cash desks of the minibus parking will already be visible - these are 4 pavilions painted in a catchy orange color.

In the event that you still manage to get lost, you can ask for help at the information service booth of the Mo Chit terminal, it is located in the center of the first floor. The author of this text, in response to a question about the parking of minibuses, was given a map drawn by hand and replicated on a photocopier. Apparently, this is one of the most popular questions they are asked.

Buses from Mo Chit terminal in Chiang Mai. Ticket prices, travel time, carrier websites.

Ticket offices for buses in Chiang Mai are located near the main entrance to the Mo Chit bus terminal, on the outside of the terminal building. Tickets for this route cost 500 baht for second class buses, from 584 baht for first class buses, and from 778 baht for the so-called VIP buses. The indicated prices took place in January 2016, in recent years the prices for bus tickets have not been growing, but rather falling.

Update Jan 2019. At the beginning of 2019, tickets from the Mo Chit terminal in Chiang Mai, sold at the box office at the entrance to the building, cost 488 baht (2nd class), 569 baht (1st class) and 759 baht (VIP bus). The current price level for tickets to Chiang Mai and the current schedule can be found on the websites of the above transport companies.

Buses from Bangkok to Chiang Mai are expectedly long, the distance is 680 km, separating Bangkok from Chiang Mai, the buses pass in 9 - 11 hours, the travel time depends, for the most part, on the number of stops of a particular bus.

Buses from the Mo Chit terminal to Siam Reap (Angkor) and to the border with Cambodia

Starting from May 2013, direct buses began to run from Thailand to Cambodia, including the most popular destination for tourists, from Bangkok to Siam Reap (the city closest to Angkor). Transportation on this route is carried out, the ticket price is 750 baht, buses run twice a day from the Mo Chit terminal. Bus departure times, as of January 2016, were 8-00 and 9-00 in the morning, the current schedule can be found on the carrier's website.

The old version of the trip from Bangkok to Siam Reap, first by bus from Bangkok to the city of Aranyaprathet, and then by the Cambodian bus, is no longer so relevant, but is still possible. Buses from the Mo Chit terminal to the city of Aranyaprathet run several times a day, transportation is carried out by both the state transport company and the private carrier, Air Aran Patthana. Tickets for this route cost about 200 baht (205 baht for a state bus), buses spend about 4 hours on the way.

Update Jan 2019. At the beginning of 2019, tickets from the bus terminal (bus station) Mo Chit to Aranyaprathet cost 205 baht.

Buses from Mo Chit Terminal to Pattaya

These buses are relevant if you arrive at and want to immediately go to Pattaya, without an intermediate stop in Bangkok. You can also take a taxi from Don Muang Airport to Pattaya, however, if you want to save money, taking a bus on the Don Muang - Mo Chit - Pattaya route will be a fairly convenient option.

A ticket from the Mo Chit terminal to Pattaya costs 119 baht (as of December 2015), buses run quite often, with an interval of half an hour, tickets are sold at the ticket office number 48. You can find out about alternative options by clicking on the link provided.

Update Jan 2019. As of the beginning of 2019, the fare from the Mo Chit bus terminal to Pattaya cost 117 baht. Tickets were still sold at the 48th box office.

Buses from the Mo Chit terminal to Phuket, Krabi, Koh Samui and Koh Chang

As noted above, from the Mo Chit bus terminal you can go not only to the north of Thailand, but also to the south of the country, in the south and southeast directions. Trips in these areas are carried out by the state transport company, among others, its buses carry tourists to Phuket, Krabi, Koh Samui and Trang province. Trips to directions from the Mo Chit terminal are not mainstream, buses run infrequently, much less frequently than buses from, and ticket prices in the Mo Chit terminal for these directions are noticeably higher.

Another direction that buses run from the Mo Chit terminal is the city of Trat, an intermediate point when traveling to Koh Chang. As with Phuket, Koh Samui and Krabi, the northern bus terminal is not the best place to depart on this route, and buses from Koh Chang are recommended for travel to Koh Chang.

The transport system in Bangkok is represented by a good range of services, which will be discussed further. For those who have not yet been to Thailand and are going on an independent trip, this information may be useful. And for those who are going to take the Bangkok metro, and for those who will need to get from Bangkok airport to the bus station or railway station to continue the trip.

One of the main questions of the traveler is where to stay, how to find the right hotel? I remind you that it is convenient to search for accommodation through a hotel search engine, this is a convenient service where you can compare hotel prices in different booking systems. I have stayed in Bangkok many times and in different hotels. I will not provide links to all my reviews, I will give only a few. — convenient for stopping near the airport and subway, — a good place to spend the night near Khaosan, located in the center next to the park.

Types, opening hours, cost

There are three types of metro in Bangkok:

  • Underground MRT.
  • Ground BTS Skytrain.
  • Ground City Line (Airport Link). Only one land line from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to the city center.

Bangkok metro opening hours from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Fare on MRT and BTS Skytrain depends on the number of stations, and is approximately the same on both modes of transport - 15-45 baht.

A large image is loaded on click.

  • The blue and red lines from right to left are the City Line from the airport (two of them because, one with stops, the other express, but physically they are the same branch). A separate independent branch.
  • The vertical blue narrow line is the MRT underground.
  • Two wide branches of dark azure and light green are the Skytrain BTS.
  • In August 2016, the MRT Purple Line, the purple line of the Bangkok metro, was launched. It's elevated, unlike the blue MRT line. Currently, the terminus of the purple line Tao Poon is connected to the terminus of the blue line (Bang Sue) by free shuttles, and in the future it is planned to connect the blue and purple lines.

Tokens and cards

In the underground metro (MRT) - tokens. At the entrance to the station there are machines where you can buy a token by selecting the desired station in advance. The machine accepts coins, paper, and gives change. There is an English interface. You can also buy a ticket at the box office from a person, or exchange paper money for a trifle, if there are machines at the station that accept only metal. You need a token at the entrance apply to the turnstile, and not to lower into it! But at the exit, just lower it into the slot. If you got off at a more distant station, you will hear a beep, and you will need to pay extra, there is nothing to worry about, ask, they will tell you how.

With the surface metro (BTS) everything is the same, only there are not tokens, but cards. They are also bought in vending machines and according to the same principle.

If you have passed your station, then go back, between trains there and back, the transfer is simple, just cross the platform. And in order not to pass the station, follow the names, or count the number of stations. You can still listen, but at first it will be very unusual.

Bangkok railway stations

Hua Lamphong Station

The Bangkok railway station is called Hua Lamphong (Hua Lamphong) and is located at the terminus of the MRT underground metro station of the same name (on my map above, this is the blue line, on the left).

If you are coming from Bangkok airport and you need a train station, then you need to get off at Makkasan station and transfer to Phetchaburi MRT station. This transfer is simple, now the transition has already been built and you just need to follow the signs. Transfer takes 10 minutes.

Thonburi Station

There is also a train station Thonburi serving the direction to Kanchanaburi.

Prices and timetable

The train schedule must be viewed on the official website railway.co.th. Choose the station of departure and destination and see all the information. At prices, for example, a ticket from Bangkok to Chiang Mai costs in a second-class sleeping car (reserved seat) with air conditioning - 791 baht upper shelf, 881 baht lower shelf.

How to buy a train ticket online

It is now impossible to buy tickets online on the official website, only at the box office of railway stations. If you need a ticket in advance and via the Internet, then only through an agency, for example,. Now this is the only service with such a service. Payment by card or PayPal. But the ticket will not be electronic, since Thai Railways does not have such a system, you will need to get the original, either at the agency's office (several outlets) or by mail. Here, below you can select the cities you need and see what happens :) There, bus tickets will also be offered.

Bus stations in Bangkok

general information

Intercity bus service is very common and is represented by a large number of private companies. From almost anywhere you can get to another. The buses are good, comfortable and air conditioned. As a rule, there are several classes - VIP, 1st class, 2nd class. They differ slightly from each other, the width of the seat, as well as the presence of feeding (water + cookies on the bus, and in a cafe at the bus stop).

Sai Tai Mai South Bus Terminal

Sai Tai Mai bus station (Sai Tai Mai), located in the west of Bangkok (Boromratchchonnani Rd, +66 2435-1200, 2434-7192), serves western and southwestern destinations, such as Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Hua Hin.

Unfortunately, you can't get there by metro, only by bus or taxi. I would choose a taxi to quickly and without crap. The cost is about 200 baht on the counter from the center of Bangkok and about 500-600 baht from Suvarnabhumi Airport. By bus, it takes 1.5-2 hours to cut from the center of Bangkok. It is better to check with the Thais on the street or at the hotel which bus, because there is a list of buses on the Internet, but it does not correspond to reality. As an option, use Google Maps, there is an opportunity to build a route by bus, however, Google is also wrong, judging by my experience.

Moh Chit North Bus Terminal

Moh Chit bus station (Mo Chit), located in the north of the city (Kampaengphet 2 Rd, +66 2936-3660). The largest bus station. Direction to Chiang Mai, Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Pitsanulok, Sukhothai and others. But you can also go to Pattaya and Hua Hin (by minivans) and to Koh Chang in the province of Trat (bus several times a day).

You can get to the bus station on foot from the Chatuchak Park station (MRT metro) or from the Mo Chit station (BTS Skytrain), walk for about 15 minutes, you can also take bus 138. Accordingly, if you are traveling from Bangkok Airport to the City Line, then you need to change at Makkasan station at Phetchaburi (MRT) or at Phaya Thai station, transfer to BTS Skytrain. The last option is shorter.

Ekkamai East Bus Station

Ekkamai bus station (Ekkamai), located in the southeast of Bangkok (Sukhumvit Rd, +66 2391-2504), near the Ekkamai BTS Skytrain station, and opposite Soi 63. Directions to Pattaya, Rayong, Koh Chang.

Ekkamai Bus Station can be reached on foot from Ekkamai Station (BTS Skytrain). And if you are traveling from Bangkok Airport to the City Line, then you need to change at the Phaya Thai station, where you transfer to the BTS Skytrain.

Bus station at Victory Monument

Victory Monument is a metro station. Near it, until October 2016, there was an unofficial bus station in Bangkok, from where about 4,000 minivans started to various destinations in Thailand. The place was terribly popular, because this is almost the only bus station (albeit illegal), where people got into minibuses directly from the metro and immediately left for home. All this pleasure was accompanied by serious traffic jams on the square near the monument, which, in fact, the military decided to deal with. Now all four thousand minibuses are distributed between state bus terminals, and only a few routes that carry people to the nearest suburbs continue to temporarily stop on the square.

Considering that the illegal bus station has been operating for several decades, and hundreds of thousands of people come here out of habit, the Bangkok government provided citizens with free shuttles to the bus terminals, which, it should be noted, are scattered throughout the city and are difficult to access even for the local population. In the sense that going there is hemorrhoids, costs and wasted time. Shuttles run from Chatuchak to Mo Chit 2 and from Monument to Sai Tai Mai and Ekkamai daily from 5:30 am to 8:30 pm every 20 minutes. The shuttle to Sai Tai Mai starts even at 4:30.

Terminal Mo Chit 2 - for those traveling to the north, northeast and central part of Thailand. From the Sai Tai Mai bus station, buses leave to the south; and from Ekkamai you will come to the east.

City buses in Bangkok

Bus service in the city of Bangkok is also developed, and some places can only be reached by bus (or tuk-tuk), for example, Khao San Road, popular among backpackers, where there are more guesthouses and hotels. Information about bus routes can be seen at bmta.co.th. You can also build bus routes on Google Maps. It doesn't always show the correct bus numbers, but generally works fine.

So, from Chiang Mai I had to get to the airport in Bangkok. I traveled around Thailand exclusively by buses and this time I did not make any exceptions. Overnight in a comfortable double-decker bus with meals and films with English subtitles.

And here I am. Mo Chit Bus Terminal. This station is huge. Serves the entire north and northeast of Tai (Chiengmai, Chiengrai, Ayutthaya, Sukhothai, Korat, Lopburi, etc.). So there are a lot of buses. Further, according to the plan, get to the subway station Mo Chit, and then to the final point - BKK Suvarnabumi Airport. As I said, from the bus terminal to the airport, I planned to take the underground metro (I had never traveled on it before).

As soon as I jumped off the footboard of the bus, taxi drivers began to besiege me, offering to take me to the ends of the world. I say I need to get to the subway. Okay, sit down, we'll take you for 60 baht.
No, I'm on foot, how do I get there?
You won't get there the taxi drivers shook their heads sympathetically, looking askance at the baobab in the bag and the backpack behind my shoulders, which was slightly smaller than myself ...

    The same backpack.

    That baobab!

I saw the information desk. I go to ask how I can get to the station.
    - Take a taxi or tuk-tuk, it costs 40 baht. You won't make it to the subway on your own, - and these were confused by the contrast between my size and my backpack. - It's 2 km from here!

Gee, 2 km and I won’t get there ?! Yes, my beloved Thais, you are not familiar with Russian girls who wear such backpacks and baobab trees. Somehow I knocked out the direction from the taxi drivers to the BTS Mo Chit station. I interviewed about 10 people, probably (the partisans are still the same).

So, I am sharing information on how to go as far as 2 km in 15 minutes. ROUTE MAP BELOW.

At the Mo Chit bus terminal, get off at the taxi and tuk-tuk stop. And to the left. Go along the road straight to the first intersection. You can wave to sympathetic tuk-tuk drivers. Turn right at the crossroads. In the distance you will see the building of the JJ MOLL shopping center. The building can be seen from afar, go straight for it.

Reach the first overhead crossing, cross it to the other side of the highway. Go straight to the first fork in the road and turn left.

    From here to the left.

Keep to the right side of the road. Your path lies straight along the most picturesque rows with live aquarium fish that swim in bags. The spectacle is amazing: various types of fish, there are thousands of them!!! This street is adjacent to Bangkok's largest Chatuchak market.

Go straight until the first turn to the right. Then straight ahead until the first turn to the left. And in front of you is the skytrain station Mo Chit.

Everything is simple. And do not listen to any exhortations of taxi drivers that it is far and you will not reach. I've arrived. I'll tell you a secret, I just have the most acute form of topographic cretinism, I climbed Chiang Mai with a navigator. But language, as they say, is not only an enemy, but also your best friend. =)

Well, then -Just. Hand Mo Chit station you take the subway (BTS). Transfer to another branch at Phaya Thai station. From there, the metro goes to the airport (this is the red line on the map). All.

Good luck with your transitions and trips!

    Subway map and transfer station.

    Map of my pedestrian crossing.

    The map can be expanded.

There are three bus terminals in Bangkok: Northern(Mo Chit) Southern(Sai Tai) and Oriental(Ekkamai).
However, many buses to tourist destinations also depart from the offices of private companies in the area. Khaosan Road. Until October 2016 from Victory Monument minibuses were sent to almost all cities in Thailand. This makeshift bus station is now closed.

We will tell you where all the Bangkok bus stations and bus stations we know are located; we will show you how to get to them; We will indicate in which main directions buses run.
In addition, at the end of the page there is a map of Bangkok with the location of all bus terminals.

Note that the most popular tourist destinations buses run from several bus stations at once, but each has own specialization. For example, there are flights to Phuket from the North Terminal, but there are few of them, and most buses leave for this island from Sai Thai Station.

Bangkok North Bus Station Mo Chit

    Mo Chit Northern Bus Terminal

This bus station is called differently: Northern Bus Terminal, Mo Chit, Mo Chit 2, Chatuchak Bus Terminal (this name is indicated on the bus station building).
Located in the northern part of Bangkok (near the famous Chatuchak market) and serves mainly northern destinations: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Ayutthaya, Sukhothai and others. We traveled from here (Laos) for a Thai visa.

From this bus terminal you can also leave for many popular tourist destinations in the south and southeast of Thailand. For example, there are buses, Krabi, Koh Samui (with a transfer to the ferry), Trat and, but there are not as many flights as from other terminals specializing in these routes.

The station building has left-luggage offices, a food court, cafes, and a 7/Eleven shop. There are quite a lot of bus ticket offices, so you will have to look for a window with the sale of tickets for the direction you need according to the inscriptions on the ticket offices, or ask the bus station employees.

Get to Mochit bus station possible on (BTS and MRT), buses, taxis.
On the underground metro (MRT) you need to go to the Chatuchak Park or Kamphaeng Phet station, and on the elevated (BTS) - to the Mo Chit station. Then - walk for 15-20 minutes, on one of the city buses or by taxi (according to the meter - 50 baht, you need to catch a taxi on the road, and not approach the taxi drivers who stand on the side of the road - they refuse to go for less than 150 baht).

    City buses to the northern bus station the following moves: 3, 5, 28, 49, 77, 96, 104, 122, 134, 136, 138, 145, 157, 159, 170, 182, 188, 512, 529, 536, 547.
Check with the conductor or driver in which direction the bus goes, so as not to go in the opposite direction 🙂
The best way to get to the Mo Chit terminal is not to bother with buses and transfers, but take a taxi.

Bangkok South Bus Station Sai Tai

    South Sai Tai Bus Station

Sai Tai Bus Terminal is also called Southern Bus Terminal, Sai Tai Mai, Sai Tai Taling Chan. It specializes in servicing southern destinations: Surat Thani, Hat Yai and others.
There are a dozen flights to Pattaya.

Since December 2007, the bus station has been located in the current rather large four-story building, which, unfortunately, is located far from the center of Bangkok.
There are no BTS and MRT lines here, so get to the South Bus Station You can only take city buses or taxis.
    Buses are as follows: 19, 28, 30, 40, 57, 66, 79, 123, 124, 125, 127, 146, 149, 159, 164, 170, 174, 177, 183, 201, 507, 511, 515, 516 , 524, 539, 542, 556.
Keep in mind that city bus routes in Bangkok often change, so check with the driver or conductor, or better yet, use a taxi.

The bus station building has left-luggage offices (40-60 baht), shops, cafes, a food court, ATMs and exchange offices.

    Bangkok East Bus Terminal Ekkamai

    Ekkamai East Bus Station

This bus station is the smallest in Bangkok, but it is located much more conveniently than Mo Chit, and even more so - Sai Tai.
Ekkamai East Bus Terminal is located next to the same name (BTS), so you can get here very easily and quickly.

Ekkamai serves eastern destinations. From here they leave (from early morning to late evening, with an interval of 30-40 minutes), to Koh Chang, Samet, to Rayong, Trat etc.
If you are planning to go to Koh Chang, please note that not all buses arrive directly on the island. Some go to the pier, others go to the administrative center of the province of Trat. Read more in our post:.

Since the bus station is very small, there are no food courts and cafes here. In the existing shops you can buy only noodles, drinks and other small things. But there is a toilet for 3 baht 🙂

    Buses from Victory Monument

Previously, minibuses departed from Victory Monument (in fact, the center of Bangkok) to dozens of directions. Parking was located around the entire perimeter of the square. It was convenient to get to Hua Hin, Ayutthaya, Ban Saen, Pattaya…
This makeshift bus station has been closed since October 2016 by decision of the Thai authorities (minivans complicated the traffic situation in this place).
All minibuses were moved to the three main bus stations in Bangkok (mainly Mo Chit).

    Buses from Khaosan Road area

    Bus company Lomprayah

On Khaosan Road and neighboring streets there are many mini-stations from which you can leave for any tourist destination. The organization of bus traffic is rather chaotic, since many private companies carry out transportation.
We list only a few large companies whose buses depart from this area.

Lomprayah. It is engaged in the transportation of passengers on high-speed catamarans to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao. From Bangkok to Chumpon Pier, passengers are transported by buses that leave from a parking lot located near the company's office on Khaosan Road.

Jolly Travel. VIP buses to Phuket and other popular destinations.

Mama Travel & Tour. Minibuses to Pattaya and other tourist routes.

note to the fact that buses can vary greatly in terms of comfort level and route of movement (some call in many places along the way, collecting passengers).
If you are not staying at a hotel or guesthouse on Khaosan Road, it is better to take a bus that leaves from one of the main bus stations.

Tickets can be bought at numerous travel agencies and carriers on Khaosan Road, as well as online (see below).

The map shows the three main bus stations in Bangkok (orange marks) and bus stations in the Khaosan Road area (lilac marks).

How to buy bus tickets online

If you plan your travels in Thailand in advance or want to be sure that there are enough seats on the bus in the desired direction for you, you can purchase bus tickets from Bangkok using the form from the 12GoAsia service.

Ticket prices, in most cases, are the same as those of carrier companies. Tickets are electronic (you need to print). Payment by Visa/MasterCard.
With the help of the same service, you can buy tickets for trains, ferries, planes not only in Thailand, but also in neighboring countries (Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore).

Do not forget exclude travel insurance from the ticket price (during the registration process, you must select “without insurance”). If you have already bought before the trip, there is no need to pay extra money.
