Medical resort Heviz. Thermal lake Heviz. Economical rest on the thermal lake Heviz in Hungary

Let's start with the fact that the sanatoriums of Heviz themselves do not call themselves such. In Heviz, the term "resort hotel" is commonly used. But since there are many hotels in the resort that do not have their own medical base, we made such a distinction for convenience. We will call sanatoriums all "resort hotels" that have a full-fledged medical base. There are about 15 sanatoriums in Hévíz. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages. To make a choice that you won't regret later, you need to know how to compare resorts.

Information from the balneologist Vladislav Burya

Location in relation to the thermal lake

Most people come to Heviz just to swim in the thermal lake. Sanatoriums have a different location in relation to it. The closest are Spa Heviz (the only resort on the lake), Erzsebet, Bonvital. Close enough (maximum 10 minutes walk) to the lake are the sanatoriums: Hunguest Panorama, Palace Heviz, NaturMed Carbona, Europa Fit Superior. The most remote (20-25 minutes walk) are Hunguest Helios Hotel Anna, Lotus Terme, Aquamarin.

The quality of treatment in the sanatoriums of Heviz

It is generally accepted that in Heviz the most important medical procedures are a visit to the thermal lake, underwater traction of the spine, and mud applications. The last two procedures can be done in the balneological center on the thermal lake. Almost all sanatoriums do the same procedures in their own medical departments and have pools with thermal water.

But the water in the pools in its composition is fundamentally different from the thermal water in the lake. Therefore, the lake must be visited in any case. In fact, the passage of procedures in sanatoriums is a matter of convenience and nothing more.

Sanatoriums differ among themselves in the size of medical facilities, the range of procedures offered. The most well-equipped medical departments have sanatoriums: NaturMed Carbona, Europa Fit Superior, Bonvital , Danubius Health Spa Resort Heviz, Danubius Health Spa Resort Aqua, Lotus Terme.

We did a comparative analysis of the quality of procedures in different sanatoriums. Everywhere the technique is the same, like a blueprint. It cannot be argued that in a 3-star sanatorium the treatment is much weaker than in a four-star one.

Tip from bookspahotel.com: If you do not know English, it is important that the doctor in the sanatorium knows at least a minimum of Russian. In Heviz, the language barrier is strongly felt. The quality of treatment will depend on how well the doctor understands the course of your disease. In the sanatorium "Europe Fit" the head physician knows Russian perfectly. In the sanatorium "Aquamarine" one of the three doctors working there understands Russian.

Comfort in the spa resorts of Heviz

As for comfort, there is already a clear gradation of resorts. The level of their comfort depends on two factors: firstly, on the novelty of the sanatorium. For example, even the five-star Lotus Terme is inferior to the Bonvital sanatorium, which opened in 2017. Secondly, from the category of the sanatorium, that is, the number of stars. Among the most comfortable: Bonvital, Lotus Terme, NaturMed Carbona, Europa Fit Superior, Danubius Health Spa Resort Heviz, Danubius Health Spa Resort Aqua, Spa Heviz.

In Heviz there are sanatoriums that have very big differences in the comfort of the rooms. For example, in "Aquamarin" rooms "Senior A" are very weak in comfort and small in size, and "Deluxe B" rooms are better in all respects.

The quality of food in the health resorts of Heviz

Comparing resort resorts in terms of nutrition is a thankless task for two reasons. First, everyone has their own tastes. Secondly, the traditional Hungarian cuisine is very diverse, and in Heviz the issue of guest nutrition is given increased attention. Therefore, we will not give a gradation of sanatoriums according to this parameter. We only note that in Heviz there is no classic diet food, i.e. numbered diet system. In addition, the choice of dishes on the "buffet" is so diverse that even a dieting person can choose what he can eat.

Lake Heviz in Hungary is an amazing pearl in the green frame of forests, where the crowns of pine groves rustle all year round, and the healing steam of thermal waters swirls over the surface of the lake. The name "hévíz" is translated from Hungarian as "flowing warm spring".

The silence of the surroundings, the beauty of the forest landscapes of Hungary, the air without dust and allergens will give you peace of mind, peace of mind and an invaluable rest from the bustle of megacities. Walks along the forest paths or the peaceful streets of the resort town can be combined with an active excursion program. Not far from Lake Heviz in the city of Keszthely, you will be met by the white stone Festetics Palace, built in the Baroque style - one of the largest estates in Hungary with a beautiful park. In the medieval castle of Sümega, you can become a member of a jousting tournament, celebrating the victory with a dinner with tart wines from the Badacsony region. For vacationers in Heviz, festivals of local beer, street balls, and operetta evenings are held. Group guaranteed and individual excursions are regularly organized from Heviz: Graz - the capital of Styria, a sightseeing tour of Budapest (travel time will take 2.5-3 hours), Keszthely - Tihany - Balatonfured, Vienna, Sopron - Fertod, Veszprem - Herend (porcelain manufactory ), Gyor-Bratislava, folklore program in Szigliget and many others.

Secrets of Lake Heviz

The year-round balneological resort in Heviz is located 200 km from the capital of Hungary. The secret of its popularity is the healing properties of thermal waters saturated with gases and minerals, as well as unique bottom mud containing iodine, estrogens and minerals. The surface of the lake is decorated with pink and lilac lilies, which have become a symbol of Heviz since the first Indian water lily was brought here in 1898. You can enjoy how the water kingdom is buried in beautiful colors, starting from summer and ending in late autumn.

Heviz is the largest warm-water lake of volcanic origin in Hungary and throughout Europe, covering an area of 47.5 sq.m. The deepest point is 38 meters. Water is completely renewed within 3.5 days, its temperature even in winter does not fall below 24-26 ˚С. The waters of Hévíz are fed from ten healing springs located in the cave below the lake: 8 cold (17 ˚С) and 2 hot (40 ˚С). The water in the lake constantly circulates due to the temperature difference between the upper and deeper layers. This process helps to maintain the saturation of water with healing substances and a temperature comfortable for swimming all year round. The healing effect of recreation on Lake Hévíz enhances the favorable microclimate, which is formed due to the combination of intense vaporization above the water surface and the ozone-rich air of the surrounding forest.

St. Andrew's Rheumatology Clinic

The first building of the clinic, which today bears the name of St. András, was built on the basis of the baths built by the Festetics family on the shores of Lake Heviz. In 1906, the clinic was headed by a specialist in balneological treatment, Dr. Schulhof Vilmos. In 1911, he opened two modern departments in Heviz - Zander and Roentgen, where he received patients who needed correction of the musculoskeletal system. On the basis of the clinic, treatment was carried out using gymnastics, electrotherapy, X-ray and laboratory studies were carried out. Later, Vilmos was joined by his younger brother, Dr. Schulhof Edön, who specializes in physical therapy and radiology.

The success of the doctors ensured the development of a medical care system and the use of the lake's medicinal water for the health care of residents and visitors of Hungary. Their achievements were so significant that on January 1, 1952, the Hungarian Ministry of Health established the State Thermal Clinic on the basis of the buildings of the resort village of Heviz.

Remember!

    The active elements of the water have an additional burden on the body, so it is not recommended to stay in the lake without special recommendations from the attending physician for more than an hour, and for people with a disease of the circulatory system - more than half an hour. In any case, when visiting Lake Heviz, consult a specialist.

    Swimming in Lake Heviz is not entertainment, but a wellness procedure!

    The medicinal substances of the lake, which help to relax the muscles and expand the skin capillaries, will quickly penetrate into your body (through the skin and respiratory tract) if you move more in the water.

    In the lake it is better to swim with a circle, even if you can swim well. Such vertical traction has a beneficial effect on diseases of the spine and joints.

    You should swim slowly in the lake, because its waters are distinguished by "heavy weight".

    In summer, it is important to be careful for patients with neurovascular diseases: hyperinsolation and overheating can provoke the development of a vascular crisis in them.

    Autumn and spring are the best seasons for the recovery of patients who have had a myocardial infarction, and those exposed to radiation and other risk groups.

    Long water procedures are contraindicated for children under 14 years of age.

Instructions for using the indoor complex on Lake Heviz

When you buy an entrance ticket or lake pass at the box office, you get a magnetic watch that you must wear on your hand (even while swimming in the lake). If you have purchased a subscription, then you can enter and exit the bathing complex only at the entrance where it was purchased.

The magnetic watch must be attached to the blue arrow of the electronic turnstile to enter the territory of the bathing complex. The green lamp-arrow lights up and the countdown of the time spent on the lake begins.

You can choose between a common dressing room, a separate one for men or a separate one for women.

In the locker rooms, electronic scoreboards hang on the wall. They also need a watch. The number of your locker will be displayed on the board. You can also check the remaining time using the electronic scoreboard. Lockers open and close using the same magnetic clock.

You can leave all your things in the locker, taking only a towel (robe) and slippers with you. There is a cafe on the territory of the bath, so you can take a small amount of money with you.

Close the locker and make sure it is closed.

Take a shower before and after bathing for hygiene reasons.
Walk along the warm corridor to the center of the bath.

In the center under the roof there are 4 bathing sections. In two, the water is the warmest, because it is quickly supplied from the depths from the hot spring to the top. In these sections there is an underwater massage. Call guests use this service on a first-come, first-served basis. From the closed sections you can swim out.

Be careful - the depth of the lake is 38 meters. Water lilies are not allowed to be picked.

It is recommended to stay in the water in a relaxed state for no more than 30 minutes continuously. After a short break on land, you can continue swimming. For convenience, use a swim ring. Being in an upright position, you provide the maximum therapeutic effect.

You can check how long you are on the lake (initial time at the entrance, how much time has passed, the amount of the surcharge) on one of the many reading counters.

Before you leave the lake, check the meter for how long you spent there. If the time exceeds the paid period, then at the cash desk at the exit you will have to pay extra at the rate of 10 forints per minute. In case you missed the deadline, the reader will confirm this, and you can leave the lake by going through the exit turnstile.

Leaving the complex, you should also attach a magnetic watch to the turnstile. If you have a one-time visit to the lake, then the watch must be removed from your hand and thrown into a special opening of the turnstile. And if the subscription, then the watch remains with you until the end of the subscription.

Resting on Heviz, you can undergo a number of preventive procedures that can prevent many diseases. Highly qualified specialists conduct autogenic training, occupational therapy, special types of massage (segmental, connective tissue) and much more.

Resort on Lake Heviz

One of the most popular thermal resorts in Hungary is Lake Heviz. The main advantage of this place is the thermal lake, for the sake of swimming in which people from different countries come here.

What is Lake Heviz? This is a lake with an area of just over 4.5 hectares, no more than 2 meters deep, which is fed from underground sources. The water in it always remains clean, because it is completely renewed in 28 hours. The silt of this lake contains a natural antibiotic, so pathogenic bacteria do not multiply in Heviz. Heviz, unlike Balaton, where swimming is periodically prohibited, is always open for medical procedures.

The water temperature in Heviz is 33-34⁰C in summer and not lower than 26⁰C in winter. Since in the winter months the temperature difference between the water in the lake and the air is large, steam rises above the water. “The lake smokes,” say the locals.

Healing factors

The healing factors of Lake Heviz are:

  • Water. Mineral water suitable for drinking treatment and thermal water containing many minerals, stimulating the production of hormones;
  • Mud. Therapeutic mud rich in mineral composition, odorless;
  • Climate. Healing microclimate, provided by the environment of the reserved forest.

However, treatment in the lake should be strictly dosed. On the day you can not be in the water for more than 2 hours, and not immediately, but in short intervals of 15 minutes. People with rheumatism can do only two per turn for 15 minutes.

Indications

Indications for treatment at Lake Heviz:

  • Diseases of the musculoskeletal system (arthritis, arthrosis, osteochondrosis, gout),
  • Rheumatism,
  • Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract,
  • Gynecological diseases (infertility, inflammatory processes, menopause, adhesive process),
  • Skin diseases (allergic dermatitis, psoriasis),
  • Endocrine disorders with low hormonal levels,
  • Rehabilitation after injuries and operations.

Contraindications

Treatment at the lake can increase hormonal levels, increase the load on the heart, and provoke some unpleasant processes in the body. For this reason, you must strictly adhere to the existing contraindications for visiting Lake Heviz in Hungary, and if there are any, you should by no means go to this particular place. We need to find another resort.

Contraindications are:

  • Infectious diseases,
  • Pregnancy,
  • Heart failure,
  • open wounds,
  • Thyroid disease with increased production of hormones,
  • Bronchial asthma.

Popular and effective procedures at Heviz:

  • water treatment, or balneotherapy - visiting pools and baths with medicinal water;
  • hydrotherapy - massage with jets of healing water, taking baths with weights;
  • mechanotherapy - therapeutic exercises and useful massage;
  • electrotherapy - ultrasound treatment, galvanization, diadynamics;
  • hydroelectric treatment - taking electric baths for the whole body.

Treatment on Heviz in winter

In Hungary, in winter, the water in the lake remains warm, therefore, in the cold season, you can undergo treatment at this resort. Steam rising above the lake has an additional effect on the body through the respiratory system. For some diseases, it is even better to be treated on Heviz during the winter months. So, for people with neurovascular diseases, treatment is preferable not in the summer months due to the fact that a large amount of summer sun can provoke a vascular crisis.

small hungarian town Heviz known throughout the world as a bathing city. Both in winter and in summer tourists from many countries of the world come here. They go to plunge into the waters of the world's largest thermal reservoir - Lake Heviz, known for its healing properties since the middle of the 17th century.

Lake Heviz is unique both in size and in the chemical composition of the water. In Europe - the only one, and on the planet - the second.

The area of the lake is 4.7 hectares.
The springs that feed the lake are located in a cave under the lake with a diameter of 18 m. Two thermal springs spring from here with a water temperature of + 42 ° C and + 38 ° C, and one mineral one, with a water temperature of + 17 ° C, here they mix.

The lake has the shape of a funnel, the depth of which reaches 38 m. In the summer months, the water temperature is +30 +32°С, and in the coldest winter months +24 +26°С. In winter, when the air temperature drops, steam rises above the lake. The locals say: "The lake smokes."

The water in the lake is completely renewed in 28 hours and always remains clean.

Hot water coming from the source, breaking on the surface into radial jets, slowly rotates clockwise. Because of this constant mixing, the water temperature is the same at all points in the lake. Cooled from the surface - circulates down, and hot water from the depths rises. In the lake, counter streams and clouds of steam are formed, enveloping Heviz, due to which the water temperature in it is approximately uniform throughout the space. Moreover, the water in Heviz is completely renewed and always remains clean.

Lake Heviz is surrounded by a 50-hectare protected forest, which provides the resort with a special, unique healing microclimate.

Silt, which lies in a multi-meter layer at the bottom of the thermal lake, has unusual healing properties. The bacterial flora of the sludge secretes a weak antibiotic, so there are no pathogenic bacteria in the water.

Biological studies have shown that in the mud that covers the bottom of Heviz with a meter layer, there are hormonal substances - estrogens. But these studies were carried out much later. It turned out that sulfur, carbon dioxide, radon, which are contained in water, play an important role in the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Water procedures and mud applications are also useful for rheumatic and gynecological diseases, venous circulation disorders, inflammation of the nerves.

Water lilies of an unusual shape and color, reminiscent of exotic countries. These plants were brought from India by a botanist. He decided to plant them in a warm lake, and the experiment was a success. Over time, water lilies became a kind of hallmark of Heviz and were even depicted on the coat of arms of the city.
Heviz owes much of his fame to the Hungarian aristocrat Festetic, who was seriously engaged in the development of local infrastructure - he built baths and baths. And, importantly, he spread information about the healing lake among his fellow citizens.

Therapeutic mud of Lake Heviz

They include organic substances - products of humification of plant residues, mineral compounds, the elements of which come from traso-dolomites and Pannonian limestone, in chemical composition largely repeating the composition of lake water, hormone- and vitamin-like substances. The microflora of the mud produces antibiotics in small quantities, due to which pathogenic bacteria and blue-green algae do not occur in the lake. Note: thermal waters for beach swimming are unsuitable due to a pronounced biological effect. A long stay in the water of Lake Heviz causes an increased load on the heart and circulatory system.

The effect of Hévíz Hungarian water is achieved by a combo: the temperature of the water and the healing mud and gas it contains. The bottom of Heviz is 80% composed of inorganic substances that cover the bottom of the lake: sodium and calcium. Millions of gas bubbles and particles of dirt in the water, nicknamed "Hévíz's dandruff", create the effect of a micro-massage of the skin.
