Vietnam is a better place to fly in winter. The best resorts in Vietnam, where you should go on your own. Vietnam climate and beach seasons

Many tourists are interested in holidays in Vietnam. This country has become popular for many reasons, including visa-free entry, gorgeous sandy beaches, a pleasant climate, and low prices for local hotels.

So tourists from all countries flocked there, including Russo tourists.

I was lucky enough to visit two of the most popular Vietnamese resorts in this country, so I had the opportunity to compare them. And in this article I will talk about the features of these resorts, and why Vietnam can become your most vivid tourist experience!

Socialism in paradise: who will enjoy a holiday in Vietnam

Do you remember how we treated foreign tourists during the Soviet Union? That's right: they ran on their hind legs in front of them, they, foreigners, were offered only the best. Good hotels were built for them, expensive restaurants were opened for them.

This is exactly what it looks like in Vietnam. If the same Chinese built their loved ones for themselves, then the Vietnamese do not yet have so many rich people to build luxury hotels for them. And they were built specifically for tourists. Moreover, they were built quite recently - about 10 years ago. Since, unlike the same thing, before this Vietnam was somehow in no hurry to develop resorts.

But after a tourism development program was adopted in the country at the beginning of the 2000s, the Vietnamese began to build in such a way that everyone gasped.

So, if you want to feel like a celestial, go to Vietnam!

By the way, please note that there have been changes to the rules for entry into Vietnam. You can read more about this in this article:

When is the best time to go: holiday seasonality

To begin with, let's first determine the best season to travel. In Vietnam there is a dry season and a rainy season. Due to the fact that Vietnam is sort of “stretched” from north to south, the climate in different parts of Vietnam is also different.

But both the north and south are affected by the monsoons. From November to April it is cooler in the north, but there is less rainfall. And from May to October it is hot and humid. The south has high humidity all year round, and the rainy season lasts from May to November. Because most popular resorts are located closer to the south of Vietnam, perhaps, it is worth choosing for a trip to Vietnam time from November to April.

Most often, tourists do just that. Accordingly, prices in the dry season are more expensive, and during the rainy season, tours to Vietnam are slightly cheaper.

Resorts in Vietnam - which one to choose?

Choosing a resort in Vietnam should also be approached quite responsibly, because two most popular resorts Vietnam - Nha Chang And Phan Thiet- very different in their structure and location.

Having been both there and there, I can say that by choosing any of them, you will get an excellent vacation and a lot of opportunities for excursions.

But it’s still better to know about the features of these resorts in order to get exactly the impressions from your trip that will make you remember Vietnam with love and delight.

Phan Thiet Resort

So, Phan Thiet located quite far from the airport - 200 km, the transfer there takes 3-4 hours. Actually, the town of Phan Thiet itself is not a tourist destination. This is an ordinary small town where the local population earns a living by fishing.

Next to it - about 15 km - there is Mui Ne resort area . That's where all the hotels are located.

Just 10-15 years ago, mostly surfers and kitesurfers traveled to Mui Ne. During the day, the guys rode the waves and in the evening they drank beer on the beach and picked up girls in several local bars. A kind of specific paradise on earth, a party for our own people.

But everything is changing. Large travel companies found out about Mui Ne. The monsters of the tourism industry considered the potential of the local beaches and began to lovingly improve this place and sell organized tours to a godforsaken village in the south of Vietnam.

Now there are more than 70 hotels. They are of different levels - from three to five stars. But the nice thing is that all the hotels in Mui Ne have their own large or not very large, but, as a rule, beautiful and green territory, and are located on the 1st line from the sea, and their beaches with pleasant golden sand have a gentle entrance to the sea .

3* hotels: Vinh Suong Resort 3* , We lived in it: an amazingly green and cozy hotel, very well located - everything is nearby. Hotels MUINE OCEAN RESORT & SPA 3*, CANARY BEACH RESORT 3* also decent, with beautiful areas and good rooms.

4* hotels: BAMBOO VILLAGE BEACH RESORT & SPA 4* — very stylish, with good territory; PALMIRA MUINE 4* A little further from other hotels, but ideal for a relaxing holiday with children. NOVELA RESORT 4*— small area, good rooms (and views from most rooms), good location. SUNNY BEACH PHAN THIET 4* great area, flowers everywhere, nice rooms .

Two 4* hotels stand out: Novotel Coralia 4* And PARK DIAMOND HOTEL 4*. They are no longer located in Mui Ne, but on the outskirts of Phan Thiet itself. But if Novotel Coralia 4* is a large area, its own beach, infrastructure, excellent rooms with balconies, i.e. a good hotel for a good rest, then PARK DIAMOND HOTEL 4* this is essentially a city hotel without territory, with the beach across the road. And I wouldn’t want to spend all 10-12 days of my vacation there...

5* hotels: ANANTARA MUINE 5* pretentious, high-tech style, excellent territory, endless swimming pool, huge rooms with stylish interiors... in short, the coolest hotel in Mui Ne. MUINE DE CENTURY BEACH RESORT & SPA 5* a large beautiful area, colonial-style houses, in general, heaven on earth.

Across the road from the hotels, on the 2nd line from the sea, is the entire tourist infrastructure of Mui Ne in the form of restaurants, shops, massage parlors, travel agencies and rental offices.

And in the surrounding area there are several natural and cultural attractions:

  • white sand dunes
  • red dunes
  • hot springs and geysers
  • Fairy Creek (Red Creek)
  • Cham towers

All of them are located at different distances from the resort. You can try to get there on your own by renting a scooter, or you can take a tour and go admire the nature and landscapes of southern Vietnam with a guide.

By choosing the second option, you will see several amazing places in one day: you will visit the White Sand Dunes and you will be able to admire the lotus blossoms on the lake next to the dunes. Near the Fairy Creek, where, according to local legend, magical fairies live, you will take a barefoot walk right along the shallow stream. It goes along the jungle and sand mountains and leads to a small waterfall.

In addition, you can take a cable car up Mount Taku, 694 meters high. It offers stunning views of the South China Sea and the landscapes of South Vietnam. On the mountain you will also see the famous 49-meter statue of Buddha, see an active temple in which monks live, and pagodas to which Buddhists make pilgrimages.

The pretty girl Alexandra can take you on such an excursion. You can view the program for this excursion here: Amazing Binh Thuan

As I already mentioned, the Mui Ne resort area is a mecca for wind, kite and other surfers. There are excellent conditions for practicing these sports - stable winds and moderate but also stable waves.

The only disadvantage of a holiday in Mui Ne may be the abundance of compatriots. Even in Turkey there have probably become fewer of them in recent years. Signs in cafes and restaurants are entirely in Russian, and in the evenings you can hear Baskov’s drawn-out voice and Pugacheva’s old songs from the speakers. But if after 10 days of rest you get bored with seafood and want borscht, you will find it.

Kega District

I would like to say a few more words about the resort area Kega (KE GA).

It is also located a 20-minute drive from Phan Thiet, but only in the opposite direction from Mui Ne. About 10 hotels have now been built and operate there. They are all very decent, even three rubles, for example ROCK WATER BAY 3*, or Eco Spa Village 3*(in the spirit of a Vietnamese village with cozy eco-style houses buried in the jungle).

But there is really nowhere to leave the hotel in the evening - there is no infrastructure around. So if you book a hotel in the Kega region on breakfast, then you will have a problem with dinner - you will either need to go to Phan Thiet, or pay extra and make do with the hotel restaurant. Usually tourists choose the first option, because... At a hotel dinner, everyone quickly gets bored.

In Phan Thiet itself, even if you have a hotel in Mui Ne, in general, you can go a couple of times, renting a scooter, to get acquainted with the life of the local population. Well, perhaps young people will like the nightclub: it can be easily found by the glowing beam of the club spotlight, which is visible against the background of the night sky even at the entrance to the town.

In general, lovers of parties, crowds and nightlife, as well as anyone who does not like long transfers from the airport to the hotel, are better off going to another popular resort in Vietnam - Nha Trang.

Hang out in Vietnam: Nha Trang

Nha Chang– a fairly large and modern city (about a million people), the road to it from the airport will take a maximum of 40 minutes.

All hotels except one - ANA MANDARA RESORT 5*, - are located across the road from the sea, but right in the city itself (with the exception of island ones). This is both a plus and a minus.

Plus, all the temptations of a big city are available to you right on your doorstep. The downside is that the population of this big city is numerous on this very city beach. But this is a minus rather for those tourists who are ready to communicate with the local population only in the form of refined hotel staff.

As for good hotels in Nha Trang, I can recommend the following:

More expensive: Sheraton Nha Trang, Balcony Seaview Nha Trang Center, InterContinental Nha Trang, The Light Hotel & Spa

Cheaper: Dendro Hotel, Golden Tulip Hotel, Green Hotel, New Sun Hotel, Euro Star Hotel,Seaway Hotel

Those tourists who need an ideal beach with sun loungers/umbrellas and no local population on it, and indeed all tourists vacationing in Nha Trang, will really like it on Vin Pearl Island , which is connected to Nha Trang by cable car.

In addition to a gorgeous beach in a quiet, wave-free harbor, this island has luxury hotels - VINPEARL RESORT NHA TRANG 5 * And VINPEARL LUXURY NHA TRANG 5*, and the huge Winpearl Land park with a water park, an aquarium, an amusement park and a 3D cinema. Tourists with children, I think, will appreciate all the possibilities of Vin Pearl Island.

All this is available for about 600 rubles with our money. Having paid this amount for the ticket, you get there by cable car and spend the whole day there on the beach, water slides and other attractions (you only have to buy food and drinks). And it all ends with an evening fountain show. It is also included in these 600 rubles.

Why else should you choose Vietnam?

Well, how do you like this country already? Let me give you a couple more reasons in favor of a holiday in Vietnam.

Good excursion programs

In Vietnam you can and should go on excursions . At any resort in Vietnam you will be offered an excellent excursion program: from a trip to hot mineral springs or to Sand Dunes before Dalata.

IN Dalat It is advisable to go just for a couple of days, because... The road takes quite a long time, and there is a lot to see.

Those who are more active will of course go to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) And Ha Long Bay.

If you don’t like to follow the beaten path, and you want to see the real Vietnam, views that will make your heart beat faster, then you should take these excursions:

Dak Lak Province and Lien Son Village– two-day trip: wildlife, rice fields, coffee fields, huge waterfalls, elephant and boat rides, local tribes and their national cuisine.

Fishing village and Vinh Hy Bay: see how ordinary Vietnamese fishermen live, learn about their way of life and the structure of the village, see how the fish is dried, which is then sent to stores around the world; look at salt fields, where the locals mine salt, and look at Vietnamese vineyards, try young Vietnamese wine.

Good inexpensive shopping

Vietnam is good shopping . The country is famous for its cosmetics, tea and coffee, as well as silk and pearl products. What can you bring from Vietnam? Yes, almost everything: jewelry, leather goods, clothes and shoes. And all this is very inexpensive. After all, many famous brands have been making their collections in China and Vietnam for a long time. It sells both traditional silk clothes and clothes made from patterns from world brands; You can also find local designer shops.

When going shopping, be prepared to play by the rules. And they are as follows: if you want to buy a thing, do not immediately give the amount stated by the seller. You need to bargain, even you are not used to doing this. But you will get an item of excellent quality for an inexpensive price. These are the rules of shopping.

When buying street goods, you can also use the following “psychological maneuver”: walking away from the tray with an offended look. The merchant will call you back and will definitely give in. Well, there is no bargaining in supermarkets: their prices are fixed.

Seafood and other delicacies

What else can make you fall in love with Vietnam is its cuisine. Vietnam is not only a variety of fruits and seafood at ridiculous prices:

Vietnamese kitchen represents the totality of all known world traditions: Indian, Japanese, Chinese and so on. Let's remember the history of Vietnam - who was there: the Mongols, the French, and even the Americans!

Thus, the Vietnamese share the Chinese concept of “five tastes”: food should have a balance of salty, sweet, sour, bitter and spicy. As in Chinese cuisine, vegetables and herbs play a large role in dishes. However, the Vietnamese use less oil when frying food than the Chinese.

Following China, Mongolian shepherds came to Vietnam in the 10th century and taught the Vietnamese to eat beef. Neighboring Cambodia also influenced the development of Vietnamese cuisine: thanks to it, Indian spices and seasonings became quite common in Vietnam.

The French, coming to Vietnam in the 19th century, brought their philosophy to cooking: respect for the high quality of ingredients and the correct use of them. Asparagus, avocados, corn, tomatoes and wine appeared in Vietnam thanks to the French. They taught the Vietnamese to eat bread (baguettes), drink beer, coffee with milk and make ice cream.

The friendliness of the Vietnamese

In Vietnam, no one, I repeat - NO ONE, will pull you by the hand into their store, shop, restaurant. No one will pester you on the street with their goods. The Vietnamese generally deserve the sympathy of tourists precisely because of their friendliness and unobtrusiveness.

So, to summarize: Vietnam is a great option for your vacation if you need a warm sea, good hotels, cheap seafood and a lot of impressions.

For those who could not decide on a resort, there are combined tours that give the opportunity to live in both Nha Trang and Phan Thiet.

Where to stay in Vietnam?

There are plenty of options, which tour to choose – colorful and expensive or calm and beachy? It's up to you to decide, but in any case, this trip will be bright and memorable!

If you have long dreamed of discovering a beautiful country full of amazing things, turn your attention to Vietnam. In February you can spend time there with great pleasure. In this article on the Tour-Calendar we will tell you about what a holiday in the “land of smiles” promises in the last month of the calendar winter, and whether it is profitable to book tours specifically for this period.

Weather in Vietnam in February

February is one of the months of the dry season. Natural disasters in the form of hurricane winds, heavy rains, and tsunamis no longer disturb the country, and travel agents send their clients on vacation with a clear conscience. The geography of the latter's travel is very extensive, but mostly those who cannot imagine their vacation without the sea and all the benefits it offers stay in the south - it is much warmer there than in other regions. Such weather resonance in different parts of the country is explained by climate heterogeneity. Firstly, the meridional elongation of the state’s territory affects it, and secondly, the diversity of the topographic structure. Thus, when planning a trip to the north or, conversely, south, your travel wardrobe will be radically different. If we are talking about Hanoi, then, like everywhere else, the temperature here is moving away from annual minimums. In general, February in its temperature regime is something between January and December. The evenings became a little warmer, and during the day the weather was almost the same. In the capital, weather forecasters promise +15..+21 °C. Rains are extremely rare - only 2-3 days, but the sky is covered with dense clouds almost all the time. There is practically no sun visible.

Hanoi Nha Trang Phu Quoc Phan Thiet Ho Chi Minh City Hue

Similar conditions prevail on the coast of northern Vietnam, in Ha Long Bay and on Cat Ba Island. The only thing is that there is a little more precipitation, but it is drizzling. It is impossible to swim here, so tourists come here solely for educational purposes. Excursions also include visits to the inland northern provinces remote from the sea. It is much colder here - during the day about +13..+15 °C, in addition, it rains constantly, as a result of which the country roads become dirty, and you simply cannot walk along them in sneakers. The best shoes for such places are rubber boots. In the mountainous region of Shapa, located in the Lao Cai province bordering China, temperatures drop to 10 °C, and frosts are possible at night. The altitude here is about 1.6 km, so it is not surprising that there is snow on the slopes this month. February is not the most favorable time to visit Shapa (there is a mountain resort here); in addition to snow, thick fogs often occur here; it is best to explore it in the spring, when the hills are covered with carpets of flowers. In the south, the weather picture is diametrically opposite. Precipitation there is kept to a minimum, and the monthly volume of what falls is 15-20 times less than during the monsoon period. The average daily air temperature is +30 °C, but in some resorts deviations from this value are possible.

The weather situation in Phu Quoc is as follows: at noon the air warms up to +30..+31 °C, the nights bring a little coolness - +21 °C, and, as before, the island remains one of the sunniest corners of Vietnam - up to 8 hours a day. In this regard, do not forget about your own safety: a good cream with a high protection factor will be a real salvation for you. The same advice is also relevant if you are based in Phan Thiet, where during the day it reaches +31 °C, and the sun began to shine a little longer - for 7 hours. In Nha Trang, the weather has finally stabilized, and rain practically does not bother the city. However, it is a little cooler here - on average +28..+29 °C. As for the central regions (Danang, Hue), their nature is gradually beginning to move away from precipitation, but temperature marks have not yet reached the required values - approximately +25 °C during the day and +19 °C at night.

What to do in Vietnam in February?

The February holidays in Vietnam are simply incomparable. And all thanks to the hospitable weather, devoid of unpleasant surprises. It allows you to fully enjoy the pleasures of the beach and engage in a variety of water sports. So your faithful “friends” for the entire period of your stay in the country will be sunscreen, swimwear, and maybe even fins and a mask. But that is not all. In February, active fans of educational recreation will also be happy, who will have the opportunity to discover new pages of Vietnam tourism: incredible complexes of ancient architecture, majestic nature, breathtaking ancient legends, rich traditions will amaze even the most experienced traveler. In addition, the country is famous for its unique hydrothermal deposits, and offers everyone amazing methods for relieving stress and improving their health.

Beach holiday

In February, the sandy coast attracts vacationers to the beaches. Phu Quoc Island is bathed in bright sunshine, so there are plenty of people here. The temperature of the surrounding waters in the Gulf of Thailand is +27 °C. Less sunny in Phan Thiet, Vung Tau and Nha Trang. Here the sea is a little cooler - about +25 °C.

The likelihood of waves is high. They are often attended by surfers. The resorts of the central part of the east coast will not please tourists with warmth. For example, in Da Nang the water warms up only to +24 °C. In the north, it’s generally cold to go into the sea: in Halong Bay, weather forecasters record +21 °C.

Entertainment and excursions

Despite the apparent comprehensiveness of the Vietnamese “excursion”, do not be misled. There are a lot of attractions in this country, and the most diverse ones, so trying to see everything at once is an unrealistic idea. Decide where you would like to go first of all - to the sea, to the capital or to the islands? And what are you more interested in - religion, nature, shopping, or maybe diving? And, based on the answers to these questions, it will be possible to build your route in such a way that at the very beginning of your stay you will be able to fulfill what has the greatest weight in the category of your own desires, and only after that, if there is time left, switch to something new, setting aside a couple of days for unplanned trips and entertainment. Well, we can only provide food for thought regarding one of the possible options for spending time. If you are one of the tourists who admire the underwater fauna and at the same time feel confident in the depths of the sea, then you should visit the island of Phu Quoc or Con Dao. But what about those who don't dive? We recommend going to Bong Nguyen Island, which can be reached by boat from Nha Trang. Its most important “treasure” is the open aquarium “Tri Nguyen Aquarium”, with several dozen rare sea creatures and valuable fish species. In general, Nha Trang is great for a family holiday. People come here to feel the life-giving power of the thermal waters of the Sui khoang Thap Ba health center, to be alone with their thoughts in secluded paradises (in the vicinity you will find the Ba Ho waterfalls and the magical Suoi Tien spring) ), explore the country's thousand-year history, represented by pagodas, temples and mansions, as well as for gastronomic delights in restaurants, the menu of which is replete with dishes from sea reptiles. No less interesting is the island of Nha Trang, such as Hon Che (the huge amusement park “Vinpearl Land”), which is connected to the city by the world’s longest cable car passing over the sea.

Continuing to travel around the south, many tourists rush to noisy Ho Chi Minh City - a huge metropolis that does not sleep day or night. It is only 300 years old, and unlike the capital, it is a new city. This cultural and commercial center of Vietnam has very heavy urban traffic, so you should be very careful on the roads. Here it is worth seeing the impressively decorated Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Vinh Nghiem Pagoda and the Dinh Thong Nhat Reunification Palace. On a hot day, come for a walk in the Nam Ty Royal Garden, while children will love the Suoi Tien theme park or the Dam Sen attractions. From this city, lovers of the mountains are taken to the incredibly romantic place of Dalat, the resort pearl of Vietnam. Today it is fragrant with an incredible number of flowers. In February, peach trees bloom here, emitting a breathtaking aroma.

In general, the environment is similar to that of the Alpine resorts: golf courses surrounded by pine forests, crystal lakes, natural parks and gourmet restaurants, where even true gourmets will swallow their tongues from the abundance of delicious dishes. You may also be interested in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, in the north of the country. Those who are accustomed to the vastness of European avenues and are delighted with the dizzying skyscrapers, as well as those who are seduced by the tightness of intersections and ancient oriental architecture, feel comfortable here. Rent a scooter or bicycle and ride along its central streets. Its numerous lakes and pagodas, the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, as well as the army and ethnology museums deserve the closest attention here. For entertainment, we would recommend you to go to the puppet theater performance that takes place on Lake Hoan Kiem.

Holidays and festivals

Vietnamese holidays reflect loyalty to their traditions and beliefs. Many events are celebrated according to the lunar calendar, so each year their start and end dates are different. However, there are a number of celebrations that fall during the same time period. February 3 marks the celebration of the Founding Day of the Communist Party, considered the only ruling party of the state. On this occasion, processions, concerts and general celebrations are held in the capital. In some years, the Vietnamese New Year "Tet" falls at the beginning of the month. This is a very special atmosphere, the quintessence of the festive bustle, colorful parades, loud music and dancing. On the 6th day of the first lunar month, the 60-day religious festival of the Fragrant Pagoda opens in Hatay Province (70 km from Hanoi).

In Vung Tau, the fishing season begins in the last month of winter, and therefore the Thang Tam Pagoda holds ritual ceremonies and entertainment events. And the town of Chau Doc, bordering Cambodia, dedicates the “Ba Chua Xu” festival to this event.

What are the prices for holidays in Vietnam in February?

February tours to Vietnam are much more expensive than October ones. As a rule, in the last month of the calendar winter their cost increases by 25% -30%. If we compare with the second half of January, then here too we can see the dynamics of price growth. But, fortunately, not so significant - + 15% -20%.

Judging by many years of observations by meteorologists, favorable weather remains in Vietnam in February. Tourists have beaches, attractions and original entertainment at their disposal. Tour-Calendar wishes you a successful trip!

This post is a logical continuation of the story about “the main Vietnamese resorts”, in which I tried to give a complete picture of the most popular Vietnamese cities that are suitable for tourist holidays.

Rating of the best resorts in Vietnam

Choosing the best Vietnamese cities for a beach holiday is a rather difficult task, because for each tourist the word “best” has its own meaning. The table lists the most popular ones and the desired time to visit them.

Beach resorts

This table lists the best beach resorts in Vietnam and the preferred time to visit them. Some cities are great for combining a seaside holiday with short trips on excursions.

Excursion resorts

Most of the cities listed in this table do not have the sea, but there are historical and natural attractions. When planning a visit, be sure to look at the seasonality; a lot depends on the weather.

Nha Trang

Nha Trang is the most visited resort city in Vietnam, it really is perfect for the role of the best, it has everything a tourist needs for a vacation.

An excellent city beach, more than 7 kilometers long, a large selection of hotels, including island ones, nightlife, Russian restaurants and local markets.

Near Nha Trang there is a whole island of entertainment (Vinpearl), the resort also has an abundance of inexpensive excursions, historical attractions (Long Son Temple, Cham Towers), and the international airport is a 20-minute drive from the city.

The list of advantages can be continued endlessly, so Nha Trang can rightfully be considered the best place to relax.

Phan Thiet Mui Ne

Phan Thiet Mui Ne can also be considered one of the best resort cities in Vietnam and here's why. Recently, several expensive hotels have been built in Mui Ne, which are located on the first line (not across the road, but right on the seashore). Mui Ne is calm and very colorful; it also has its own local attractions (red and white dunes, Mui Ne fishing village, etc.).

Mui Ne is very specific and is not suitable for everyone, it is boring here (essentially it is a village with one street) and there is absolutely nothing to do in the evenings, after 11 pm all life falls asleep. Not everyone will like the sea either; constant wind and big waves can bring true joy to those who wind surf, but cause problems for other vacationers.

Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc Island deserves special mention; a holiday on this tropical island is ideal for relaxing doing nothing in the shade of palm trees. There is no vibrant nightlife on the island with discos and noisy clubs, and the vacationers here are a little different, but all the necessary tourist infrastructure is present.

Phu Quoc Island is washed by the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand, which guarantees colorful diving in amazingly clear water (there is definitely no such water in Nha Trang). If you don’t want to dive underwater, you can go on one of the exciting excursions (black pepper plantation, pearl farm, etc.) around the picturesque island or spend the whole day on one of the island’s magnificent beaches.

Hoi An

This beach resort perfectly combines snow-white beaches and the opportunity to visit the most colorful of Vietnamese cities, which is included in the UNESCO list. And from the picturesque beaches to the historical center is only 5 kilometers. In the old town you can have a great time in local cafes or go shopping, which can greatly diversify your beach holiday.

Be sure to take an excursion to the islands of the Cu Lao Cham archipelago, during which you will visit the largest island of this archipelago, Hon Lao Island. Hon Lao Island is amazing in every way, the coastal waters offer excellent diving and snorkeling, the local beaches are picturesque, and there are few tourists here. If you like it here, you can return to the island without an excursion; a state ferry runs from the port in Hoi An to Hon Lao Island.

Danang

A beach holiday in Da Nang itself may disappoint you (usually there are a lot of Chinese and Vietnamese tourists), but near Da Nang there are really high-quality hotels with private beaches and a high level of service, and you will definitely like it here.

Most of the expensive hotels in the suburbs of Da Nang are located on the first line and have their own beach, where there are no casual vacationers. Pay attention to the area of the Nui Son Tra peninsula, which is also called “Monkey Mountain”. Here is located one of the most expensive hotel complexes in all of Da Nang - InterContinental Danang Resort

Rating of the best beach resorts in Vietnam

Thanks to the tropical climate and warm seas, all Vietnamese beach resorts can be a good holiday destination, but each city has its own pros and cons. In this part of the post we will look at the main beach cities (there are not many of them).

Nha Trang - beach resort No. 1

Nha Trang cannot be called an ideal beach resort, but the city is perfect for most tourists; many regularly return to this Vietnamese city.

Nha Trang has everything you need for a beach holiday; there is a good sandy beach, many hotels and well-developed tourist services. For tourists with children there is a whole entertainment island (Vinpearl Entertainment Island) with attractions, a water park, a show program, etc.

Pros of Nha Trang as a beach resort:

  • nice beach;
  • large selection of hotels;
  • proximity to the international airport;
  • There is an amusement park called Vinpearl.

Disadvantages of Nha Trang as a beach resort:

  • dirty and noisy in places;
  • in the northern part of the city beach a dirty river flows into the sea;
  • Nha Trang is a fairly large city;
  • The city is home to thieves and other petty swindlers; there is no serious crime here (this is not Rio).

Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay is the hallmark of northern Vietnam; most tourists strive to see this amazingly beautiful bay. Unfortunately, apart from the natural beauty of Halong Bay itself, there is nothing to see here, so this resort is not particularly popular among our compatriots.

During the winter months in this region the temperature can drop to +10 degrees, so Ha Long cannot be called an ideal beach resort.

Pros of Ha Long Bay as a beach resort:

  • there are good beaches;
  • very beautiful bay;
  • good transport accessibility.

Disadvantages of Ha Long Bay as a beach resort:

  • the season is too short;
  • many tourists;
  • few good beaches.

Da Nang Resort

Whether Da Nang can be considered a beach resort is a moot point. Da Nang really has good beaches, one of which is China Beach, which was even ranked by Forbes magazine as the most attractive beach in the world. Da Nang has a tourist infrastructure and an excellent transport system (international airport, railway station, intercity bus station, seaport).

In the immediate vicinity of the city are some of the most visited historical attractions of Vietam (Hoi An city, the imperial capital of Hue, My Son ruins). In close proximity to the city there is one of the best water parks in Vietnam - Da Nang Water Park.

But it is worth remembering that Da Nang is a large industrial city with all that it implies, so Russian tourists do not stay on its beaches for long, but use the city as a transit point on their journey.

Pros of Danang as a beach resort:

  • good tourist infrastructure;
  • good beaches;
  • the presence of historical attractions in the vicinity of the city;
  • excellent transport accessibility.

Cons of Danang as a beach resort:

  • large industrial city;
  • too many local tourists and tourists from China;
  • expensive accommodation.

Vung Tau

The sandy beaches of Vung Tau attract tourists, but the presence of a metropolis like Ho Chi Minh City next door makes the holiday uncomfortable. Basically, the majority of vacationers in Vung Tau are Vietnamese who come here from Ho Chi Minh City for a weekend or vacation.

Pros of Vung Tau as a beach resort:

  • good infrastructure;
  • there is a choice of hotels;
  • good shopping;
  • good transport accessibility (from Ho Chi Minh City by water in an hour).

Cons of Vung Tau as a beach resort:

  • there are many industrial enterprises in the city;
  • the city is dirty;
  • the Mekong River brings a lot of garbage that washes up on city beaches;
  • many local tourists.

Longhai

Long Hai Beach Resort is a secluded place for rest and relaxation in Vietnam's most tranquil tourist destination. The city is located 30 kilometers from the popular tourist destination Vung Tau, and there is an atmosphere of calm and serenity.

A holiday at the Long Hai resort is suitable for a relaxing family holiday; there are local attractions in the surrounding area, but basically all the entertainment is the sea, the beach and the surrounding nature.

Pros of Long Hai as a beach resort:

  • uncrowded beaches;
  • calm environment;
  • good hotels.

Cons of Long Hai as a beach resort:

  • boring and monotonous rest;
  • distance from the airport.

Phan Thiet Mui Ne

Mui Ne is perfect for a relaxing family holiday on the sandy beaches of this tropical village. In Mui Ne you can practice water sports all day long, and for those who are not familiar with kite and wind surfing there is an opportunity to learn, there are several excellent kite and wind surfing schools in the village.

Be sure to go to the BoKe street cafes for dinner every evening, they have the freshest and most delicious seafood.

Pros of Phan Thiet Mui Ne as a beach resort:

  • good beaches;
  • excellent conditions for water sports;
  • relaxed atmosphere of a family resort.

Cons of Phan Thiet Mui Ne as a beach resort:

  • there is no airport (the nearest is in Ho Chi Minh City, it takes 5 hours to get there by bus);
  • no night entertainment (after 11 o’clock everyone is already asleep);
  • There are often strong waves and wind.

Phu Quoc Island

Beach holidays on the island of Phu Quoc are considered by many to be the best in Vietnam, but there are also some disadvantages. Most of the island is surrounded by tropical greenery, and there is all the necessary tourist infrastructure. A holiday on Phu Quoc is suitable for those who like a quiet, leisurely pastime; there are several excellent places for diving and snorkeling near the island, you can go on an eco-trip in the jungle or go on an excursion to a plantation where black pepper is grown. But such a vacation can quickly become boring.

Pros of Phu Quoc Island as a beach resort:

  • relaxing beach holiday;
  • good hotels on the first line;
  • best place for diving and snorkeling;
  • great beaches.

Disadvantages of Phu Quoc Island as a beach resort:

  • there are no direct flights, you will have to fly with a transfer;
  • quite expensive resort;
  • very simple tourist infrastructure, everything is very modest.

What's the weather like at the most popular Vietnamese resorts?

Be sure to study this table before choosing a vacation spot; it shows popular resorts and weather conditions for each month.

  • green color is a great time to relax;
  • yellow color - be prepared for possible precipitation, winds and other natural features of the local climate that may complicate your vacation;
  • red - going to the specified resort this month is highly discouraged (rainstorms, hurricanes, floods, abnormal temperatures, etc.)

Which resort in Vietnam to go to, and at what time of year?

Before you buy a ticket, be sure to read my post about weather conditions in Nha Trang, because the vast majority of Russians choose this particular seaside resort for the New Year holidays. If the air ticket has already been purchased and the hotel has been booked, then there is no need to worry too much, because besides the sea, you can find a lot of interesting things in Vietnam.

In this part of the post, I will try to briefly talk about the weather at the most popular Vietnamese resorts among our compatriots. In order to keep the story short and informative, I chose the most popular months for vacation (November, December and January).

What happens at Vietnamese resorts in November

In November, all Vietnamese cities are suitable for a comfortable holiday, perhaps with the exception of the tropical island of Phu Quoc and the resort of Vung Tau, but even there the weather can be disgusting in early November.

  • Vung Tau - air temperature +28 +29 degrees, there may be rare rains, muddy sea;
  • Phu Quoc - air temperature +30 +32 degrees, clear, clear sea;
  • Nha Trang - air temperature +26 +28 degrees, cloudy, heavy rain, windy, cloudy, choppy sea;
  • Hue - air temperature +22 +24 degrees, cloudy, gusty wind, rain, there is a possibility of typhoons;
  • Hoi An - air temperature +22 +24 degrees, cloudy, gusty wind, rain, there is a possibility of typhoons; muddy and very choppy sea;
  • Danang - air temperature +22 +24 degrees, cloudy, gusty wind, rain, there is a possibility of typhoons; muddy and very choppy sea;
  • Hanoi - air temperature +18 +20 degrees, partly cloudy, there is a slight chance of rain.

Weather at Vietnamese resorts in December

In the most popular beach resorts (in Nha Trang and Phan Thiet Mui Ne), the December weather becomes slightly better than in November, but the sea is still unpredictable, and precipitation is likely, and the water temperature is not conducive to swimming.

At this time of year, the best place for a beach holiday and swimming is still the island of Phu Quoc, and probably the beaches of Vung Tau (but the weather here can have surprises).

  • Ho Chi Minh City - air temperature +28 +29 degrees, there may be rain;
  • Vung Tau - air temperature +28 +29 degrees, there is a chance of rain, cloudy sea;
  • Phan Thiet Mui Ne - air temperature +29 +31 degrees, partly cloudy with a chance of rain, strong gusty wind, cloudy, choppy sea;
  • Nha Trang - air temperature +26 +28 degrees, cloudy, there may be rain, windy, cloudy, choppy sea;
  • Hue - air temperature +20 +22 degrees, cloudy, strong wind, rain;
  • Hoi An - air temperature +20 +22 degrees, cloudy, wind, rain, cloudy and choppy sea;
  • Danang - air temperature +20 +22 degrees, cloudy, wind, rain, cloudy and choppy sea;
  • Hanoi - air temperature +16 +18 degrees, partly cloudy, there is a slight chance of rain.

Weather at resorts in January

In January, the season comes to most beach resorts, with the exception of the northern regions and Halong Bay, where there is bad weather at this time.

In the second half of January, the weather improves in almost all popular resorts in Vietnam. In Nha Trang in the second half of January, the sea becomes calmer and more predictable, you can safely enter the water and swim (but a lot depends directly on the year).

Mui Ne Phan Thiet also takes on the image of a real paradise for a beach holiday (with small reservations), waves and wind are always present in Mui Ne. Phu Quoc Island maintains the best conditions for a relaxing beach holiday and diving in calm and super clear water. Vung Tau's beaches in January are just as stunning as they are in December.

  • Ho Chi Minh City - air temperature +28 +29 degrees, rare rains;
  • Vung Tau - air temperature +28 +29 degrees, rare rains, muddy sea;
  • Phan Thiet Mui Ne - air temperature +28 +30 degrees, there is a chance of rain, wind, muddy sea;
  • Phu Quoc - air temperature +28 +30 degrees, clear, clear sea;
  • Nha Trang - air temperature +26 +28 degrees, cloudy, there may be occasional rain, cloudy sea;
  • Hue - air temperature +20 +24 degrees, cloudy, wind, rain;
  • Hoi An - air temperature +20 +24 degrees, cloudy, wind, rain, cloudy and choppy sea;
  • Danang - air temperature +20 +24 degrees, cloudy, wind, rain, cloudy and choppy sea;
  • Hanoi - air temperature +10 +16 degrees, partly cloudy, there is a slight chance of rain.

How to choose the best Vietnamese resort

Holidays in Vietnam can be both memorable and excellent, and disgustingly unpleasant, it all depends on the right choice of the resort that will be the best for you. For a European, not all cities will be suitable for a comfortable holiday, so the choice of place should be taken very seriously, because not every Russian will experience wild delight while relaxing on the beach, when there is a whole swarm of noisy Chinese in the neighborhood.

Main criteria for selection:

  • climate;
  • transport accessibility;
  • hotel quality;
  • availability of tourist attractions;
  • general atmosphere;
  • possibility of relaxation with children.

As you can see, the list is not small, but each item in it is logical and important, and now let’s talk about everything in order.

What is the climate like in Vietnamese resorts?

A table with the weather by month will help you (a little higher on this page), but it is worth remembering that the weather in Vietnam can present real surprises, you should prepare for this in advance. In any case, you should not refuse to travel just because of an unfavorable weather forecast, because there is always an alternative. For example, if it is rainy during your December holiday in Nha Trang (), then head to the mountainous Dalat, or to the island of Phu Quoc, where the sun is shining at that time and the weather is excellent for a comfortable stay.

Transport accessibility

The presence of an airport near Vietnamese resorts is a real problem; not every tourist city has a convenient international airport; some popular seaside resorts (Mui Ne) can only be reached by bus. For example, to get to Phan Thiet Mui Ne you should spend five hours on a bus that slowly follows the Ho Chi Minh City - Mui Ne route. What will it be like for tourists who made a nine-hour flight, and then another five hours on the bus? Not everyone likes this transport adventure.

Only local airlines fly to other tourist destinations, which is also inconvenient; in any case, you will need a transfer. The situation is strange with the most popular beach city in Vietnam - Nha Trang; only local airlines and charter flights fly to Cam Ranh International Airport, which is also inconvenient for independent travel.

Hotel quality

There are no problems with choosing hotels in Vietnam, but the wide selection of hotels is also confusing. In the most popular tourist cities (Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Phu Quoc), the choice of accommodation is huge, from a cheap guesthouse with all the amenities of civilization (shower, WiFi, TV, refrigerator, etc., follow the link to see what a guesthouse looks like for $7) to luxury hotels with its own beach and VIP service.

For complete unity with nature, bungalows on the seashore (right at the water's edge) in Mui Ne or on the island of Phu Quoc are more suitable; other Vietnamese resorts accommodate tourists in standard hotels. Most Europeans choose Nha Trang, Mui Ne and Phu Quoc - these settlements are most suitable for a comfortable beach holiday.

Availability of tourist attractions

Nha Trang is the most advanced Vietnamese city; in terms of entertainment, few resorts in Vietnam can compete with Nha Trang; there is the longest cable car in the world and the largest entertainment island in Vietnam, Vinpearl, and other attractions of this Vietnamese town.

In Phan Thiet you will find more relaxing activities, most of which are of natural origin (white and red dunes, canyons, lighthouse, etc.). For active water sports (kite and wind surfing), Mui Ne is the best place in all of Vietnam.

On the tropical island of Phu Quoc there is a little less entertainment, but nevertheless there is some. Quite recently (in 2015), Fukuoka opened its own amusement park, Vinpearl, and the island itself is very beautiful, here you can book a jungle tour or go diving.

General atmosphere

When choosing a Vietnamese resort for your future vacation, you should carefully study which tourists like to relax in this city. Recently, the rapidly growing Chinese economy (which is the second largest economy in the world) has allowed the Chinese to vacation in the most expensive parts of the world, Vietnamese beach cities are no exception.

There is nothing wrong with Chinese and Vietnamese tourists, it’s just that Asian and European cultures are very different. For example, on the wonderful beaches of the resorts of Vung Tau and Da Nang there can be so many Asian vacationers that getting into the water is a real problem; not every European tourist likes this “immersion in Asia.”

Is it possible to travel with children?

If you choose the right holiday time (season), then almost any beach city is perfect for holidays with children.

Of the most popular resorts in the country where children will feel comfortable, I would like to mention the suburban beaches of Nha Trang (Paragon Beach and Doc Let Beach) and hotels on Vinpearl Island, as well as Phu Quoc Island. Most hotels in Phu Quoc are located on the first line, which is much more convenient for vacationers with children than in Nha Trang.

In second place is Mui Ne; this resort has good hotels for family tourists, many of which have a specially designated place on the beach, without waves and any “flying people” (kite surfers).

Have a nice holiday in Vietnam.
