Tong Nai Pan Noi. Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach is the perfect secluded beach. Territory and pool

Koh Phangan beaches on its eastern side, it is a series of small local beaches. Their main feature is solitude and isolation, and as a result, relative inaccessibility. Some can only be reached by water or by hiking through the jungle and mountains. Although now the situation with the roads is changing for the better.

If you decide to settle on this side of Koh Phangan, we advise you to first find out how things are with the transport issue at the moment, how and in what way the hotel you are going to is accessible. For a quick and easy search for the best deals on hotels, we recommend using Metasearch engine Hotellook .

The eastern beaches of Koh Phangan are natural beauty, silence and a great place for a quiet, relaxing holiday. It is also nice that you can always swim and swim here. But keep in mind the following:

  • The beaches of Haad Rin Nok and Haad Khonti are easily accessible and you can get to them without problems, but getting to some others can be problematic.
  • Sometimes there can be decent waves. Remember, there is no rescue service for drowning people here!
  • If you like to travel with non-cash money, then check the availability of ATMs in advance, they may not be!
  • You will hardly need a snorkel, mask and fins. It can be said that there is no snorkeling on all the beaches of this side.

So, let's start moving along the beaches of Koh Phangan, along the east coast, from bottom to top (from south to north).

Haad Rin Nok and Haad Khontee are wide, very beautiful beaches with white, clean sand and excellent swimming opportunities. You can always easily reach these two beaches along the southern road of the island. For living there are both inexpensive bungalows and very expensive ones.

Perhaps the most important thing to know about this place is that during the Full Moon party it is very noisy and crowded, and there may not be places in hotels of all price categories. Consider this fact when deciding to settle in the area. Well, we note that you will not find silence and solitude here at any time. The main contingent is young people, as a result, there is always nightlife. If this is important and necessary for you, then this is the place for you.

Haad Yuan beach

Haad Yuan is a wonderful beach for a quiet holiday. You can get here only by water or on foot through the forest (1.5-2 hours). In advertising brochures, as one of the lures - the ability to quickly and easily get from silence and relaxation to the cheerful Haad Rin with all its charms. This is true, but keep in mind that the cost of this pleasure is at least 200 baht per person one way. In addition, you will have to pay very generously for the high cost of food for silence and solitude. you understand that you can buy something here only in the restaurant and cafe of the hotel. Another nuance - electricity is supplied from the generator and by the clock, in any case, it was like that a year ago (find out how with this now) There is always a lot of water.

Haad Tienvost beach

Haad Thianeast is the next small and isolated beach. Silence and peace. The sand on the beach is quite large, and the natural splendor, for our taste, breaks on the beach chairs, which fill almost the entire small space. Housing can be found from 100 - 1500 baht. There are three resorts. One of them, however, like the beach itself, is positioned as a super cool Yoga center. We found this assertion highly questionable. In any case, if yoga is not a fashionable fitness option for you, but a philosophy, then, probably, you are not here. In terms of transport and food - the same as on the previous beach. But the boat is already more expensive - from 300 baht.

Haad Nam beach

Had Wai Nam is a very small and secluded beach. Getting by water from Haad Rin costs 300 baht. That's where it's quiet. There is only one resort on the beach. The cost of living in a bungalow is from 450 baht. The light from the gas generator turns on when the owners wake up, and turns off, respectively, when they go to bed. They say yoga classes are also held here. We can’t say what kind and how much yoga it is, but if you want to live apart from civilization, with the ability to independently meditate on the ocean, dawn, rocks or just on a palm tree, you are here.

Haad Yao beach

East Haad Yao Beach (not to be confused with West!) is a place for Robinsons. There are two resorts with wooden bungalows on the beach. From this beach, after a walk (10-15 minutes) through Lem Nokrong Cape, you can get to the uninhabited (we hope so) Haad Yang beach. Wonderful place. It is located in a coconut grove, and its sandy shore ends with picturesque cliffs on both sides. There is a small stream with clean fresh water. Oh, to live there with a tent!

Yes, you can read about a possible option for traveling around Thailand with a tent in our article. Kayak tour of the islands of Thailand

Haad Sadet beach

You can get to it by water or by road to Thong Nai Pan Noi. The sandy beach immersed in the greenery of palm trees and tropical vegetation is very beautiful and picturesque. Fortunately, several of its resorts are organically inscribed in the surrounding beauty and do not spoil it. It would be like that everywhere. You will not find night entertainment and any attractions here, but you can take interesting walks, for example, to the waterfalls of the Khlong Thaan Sadet River, which flows into the sea here, enjoy plenty of nature and even go fishing. In addition, with the appropriate desire and a certain skill, you can walk along the coast along the rocks and stones, but be careful.

Personally, we really liked the inexpensive hotel here called Mai Pen Rai Bungalows. His bungalows on the rocks above the sea look very picturesque and romantic. And what kinds of them! By the way, this is just a great beach for a honeymoon. But this is so, in general, and a detailed story about this beach and our personal impressions of it -.

Be careful, there are no ATMs with cellular communication, there are difficulties)

Nai Pan Yai Beach and Thong Nai Pan Noi

Thong Nai Pan Yai and Thong Nai Pan Noi are the northernmost beaches on the east coast of Koh Phangan. Now, you can get to them quickly and easily on the highway of excellent quality.

The beaches are very large and populated. Many hotels, ranging from inexpensive bungalows to very expensive hotels with their own closed areas, multi-level pools, artificial waterfalls and more. You can swim here without problems at any time, there is always a lot of water. There is no snorkeling, as well as on all this coast of Koh Phangan.

There is some nightlife. You can eat both in numerous cafes and restaurants from hotels, and in local ones. The presence of macarons was also noticed, however, a little. There are fruits. In general, the situation with food and groceries is tolerable, but in our opinion, it is much more expensive here than in the same Thong Sala.

Those who are looking for silence, harmony and beautiful nature on the seashore probably should not go here. But it seems that these beaches of Koh Phangan will definitely appeal to lovers of classic beach holidays and swimming. There is everything for this - warm sea, white sand on wide beaches, hot sun, well-developed tourist infrastructure and good service. In terms of comfort, they resemble beaches. west coast, and in terms of local infrastructure development are close to southern beaches of the island

General review of the eastern beaches of Koh Phangan

The eastern beaches of Koh Phangan will be able to satisfy lovers of all kinds of recreation:

  • Fans of drive, fun nightlife and discos will love the beaches in the Haad Rin area
  • Admirers of a civilized beach holiday and comfort should take a closer look at the beaches in the north of the east coast.
  • Well, for those who like a quiet and relaxing holiday with a minimal presence of civilization, they can find it in the central part of this coast.

In conclusion, we note again one common feature that is inherent in all these beaches that are so different from each other, uncharacteristic of the other three coasts of Koh Phangan - you can swim on the eastern beaches at any time and in any season, there is always a lot of water.

Well, what are the good beaches of Koh Phangan in its northern part, you can find out by reading the post Northern beaches of Koh Phangan.

Buri Rasa Hotel offers luxurious accommodation with private balconies on the seafront of Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach. This hotel met all expectations! Stunning in every sense: Firstly, the hotel is located in a very picturesque place on the island, away from the hustle and bustle, but 15-20 minutes drive from the center. Secondly, the level of the hotel is much better than other 4 star hotels in other areas of the island and fully meets the 5 star standards. Panviman Koh Phangan 5 stars

Thong Nai Pan Noi

Panviman Koh Phangan is a secluded hotel surrounded by tropical greenery. It has a private beach. The property overlooks Thong Nai Pan Beach. Everything is super .... sea .... hotel .... food .... staff ..... nature!

Expand Collapse

The beach is located in the most beautiful bay in the northeast of Koh Phangan. The beach is divided by a high rock into two parts, in the northern bay there is a beach Thong Nai Pan Noi , where mostly expensive luxury hotels are located, in another bay, which has the shape of a crescent, there is a beach, where there are cheaper hotels. The beaches are surrounded by high mountains, densely covered with tropical vegetation.

A significant plus of the beaches of Thong Nao Pan is that you can swim on them at any time of the year. The ebbs and flows here are almost not felt. Whereas on other beaches, especially in the west of Koh Phangan, there can be significant problems with the sea: sometimes the sea goes so far that it becomes completely impossible to swim.

On the beach Thong Nai Pan Noi there is a village of the same name and several good bars and restaurants. The sand on this beach is not as white and fine as on the neighboring Thong Nai Pan Yai, but larger and beige.

The sea here is deeper and when there was calm on Thong Nai Pan Yai beach, there were waves on Thong Nai Pan Noi beach. We stopped by this beach on the day when we rode the northeast side of the island on a bike. We didn’t swim, we just stopped by to see the beach, because our main goal was to get to

On the rock that separates these two beaches, one of the most expensive hotels on the island is located - the Panviman Koh Phangan hotel, the hotel offers panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand and the bay. Also on this mountain is an observation deck (Viw point), which is indicated on all tourist maps of Koh Phangan. But we did not find the way, how to get to it.

Thong Nai Pan Yai beach

The beach is longer and more gentle than its twin neighbour. There is no village on the shore, so this beach is even quieter and more deserted than the neighboring beach.

Thong Nai Yai beach

You can get to these beaches along one road that goes through the mountains. From the port of Thong Sala, where we drove about 40 minutes by sorengo (route taxi). On a bike on this road you need to ride very carefully. We managed to fall off the bike just on this road, although before that we had traveled more than two months on Koh Samui without any problems at all. In season, you can sail to this beach and on boats from Koh Samui, which departs from the center. Keep in mind that the boat is small and floats for about 2 hours - it can get very sick.

Many tourists hesitate to go to the beaches of Thong Nai Pan because they are afraid of the road to them. Once, in 2008, a dirt road led to these beaches, which was heavily eroded during the rainy season. Now the whole road is normal asphalt. But still, I advise you to drive very carefully.

Here's the road you can get to Thong Nai Pan Beach:

On the way to the beaches of Thong Nai Pan, we pass a place for riding elephants, here we also ride on asphalt
On the road from Thong Sala to the beaches of Thong Nai Pan

Then begins an excellent asphalt road with good markings. But serpentines!

For three days we lived at the Dreamland Resort on Thong Nai Pan Yai beach. I already wrote. We really, really liked this beach 🙂 Finally, I saw the color of the sea, in which I want to swim and not get out of the water, because for some reason there was no such thing. On the beach of Thong Nai Pan Yai there is very fine white sand, the entrance to the sea is gentle.

Fine white sand on Thong Nai Pan Yai beach

After dinner, there were low tides, but it was still comfortable to swim. The water is very clear and warm.

Low tide on Thong Nai Pan Yai beach

Merchants do not walk along the beach, they do not offer anything (this is a plus!). On the beach you can get a massage, but there are not very many massage parlors. Here is a massage in our hotel (to the right of the restaurant), Thai massage - 300 baht, I did it, I liked it.

Massage at Dreamland Resort

You can rent a kayak (we wanted to, but were too lazy) and swim to the nearby beach of Thong Nai Pan Noi. You can go diving or take a boat trip to nearby beaches. All this is organized in any hotel.

There are about 11 hotels along the coast, each with a restaurant and a bar, which is a pleasure to visit both during the day and in the evening.

Fire show near this bar in the evening

The beach is very quiet, few people, mostly foreigners, families with children. Although Koh Phangan is considered an island where people come to hang out for a Full Moon Party, we did not meet such a contingent of people on Thong Nai Pan Yai beach. Rassamans, yogis and other people with informal views are also very few on this beach 🙂. At 10 pm, life stops, only in a few bars music plays softly. And this despite the fact that we were on the islands during the Full Moon Party!

Along the beach there is a central road, on which there are several tents with tour services: you can order a taxi, rent a boat, rent a bike, give things to the laundry, change money.

Road along the beach with several shops and various tourist services

In the center of this street is a 7-eleven shop where you can buy water and other small things. Everything is a little overpriced. For example, water on Koh Samui at 7-eleven cost 13-15 baht, on Koh Phangan on other beaches - 15-16 baht, on Thong Nai Pan Yai beach - 18-20 baht. And such inflated prices for everything: for fruits (there is almost nowhere to buy them, on one layout we saw mangoes at 100 baht per kg (expensive!) And some green bananas. And that’s all).

In the 7 eleven store - buying water and nuts :)

Observation deck

If you drive to the end of the road along the Thong Nai Pan Yai beach, climb up the mountain, then you will get to the observation deck (View Point), which offers a beautiful view of two bays. We were at the lookout in gray weather, before the rain, but still the view of the sea and bays is magnificent!

View from view point to Thong Nai Pan Yai beach
Thong Nai Pan beach and mountains around. Beauty is unreal!

In the jungle near View Point

There are several villas near View Point, so if you want to settle here for a long time, it’s not a problem.

Conclusion

Beach Thong Nai Pan Yai suitable for nature lovers, families with children and those who come for a romantic getaway. I don’t know how suitable this beach is for a long stay, because the prices are more expensive than in other places on Koh Phangan and Tesco, Big C, Macro shops are not far at all.

For me, this is one of the few beaches in Thailand where I want to return!

Video

Enjoy the video clip of Thong Nai Pan Yai beach:

Thong Nai Pan is the common name for two nearby beaches. One is called Thong Nai Pan Noi, another Thong Nai Pan Yai.

general information

The beaches of Thong Nai Pan are located in the northeastern part of the island. Most tourists prefer to settle closer to the main life of the island (south) or in other parts of the island (west).

On the beach Thong Nai Pan Noah expensive hotels are located. Beach Thong Nai Pan Yai occupied simpler hotels. But in both of these places, prices tend to be higher than in other parts of the island. Both beaches are close, but not within walking distance.

How to get to the beaches of Thong Nai Pan

We will assume that you have a scooter or a car. It wasn't easy to get here before. There is only one road leading here, which was in very poor condition. And it was long and hard to get here. When I got here, the road was good, and only some of its sections were problematic due to the fact that repairs were underway or a small part of it was not paved. And the later you go to the beaches, the easier it will be, because the road improves every year.

To get to the beaches, no matter how trite it sounds, you need to go towards these beaches. There is only one road and if you follow the map, it is simply impossible to get lost. On the way to the main road leading to the beaches, there are signs. And then a multi-kilometer road begins, which at the end of the path will lead you to one of the beaches of Thong Nai Pan.

My impressions

Out of season on the island, the beaches of Thong Nai Pan are the only ones of their kind where you can swim normally. Here, too, the water recedes from the shore, but not as much as on other beaches.

I liked the beach better Thong Nai Pan Noah . Somehow it was more comfortable and prettier here. On the beach Thong Nai Pan Yai there are many fishing boats near the coast, which, in my opinion, spoiled the idyll of a good beach.

Photos of Thong Nai Pan beaches

Much of the route is very scenic. Lots of well paved roads. I had a lot of fun getting here.

Together with the surrounding nature, just an incredibly beautiful road.

Some sections along the road are reminiscent of nature from dinosaur movies.

In Thailand, by the way, you can often find names with the same root and endings Yai and Noi, yai means big, noi means small. The ending in the name of the bay beach speaks for itself: Yai is a larger beach, Noi is a smaller one. But despite the size, Noah is much better developed than his big brother.

About the beaches of the bay

The beaches of Thong Nai Pan Bay are very picturesque, many agree that these are the most beautiful beaches of the island. In this part, the sun rises and meeting the dawn on the beach is a mandatory item on the program). The format of rest here is relaxation, relaxation and once again relaxation - it is very calm, quiet and lazy here.

View of Thong Nai Pan Yai. Photo credit: Fabio Achilli, Flickr

You can swim all year round, in this part of the coast there are no problems with tides. Transparent turquoise water, a gentle entrance to the sea, nice fine sand on the beach. Cafes and small restaurants stretch along both beaches. Massage beds are in the shade on the beaches. On both beaches, you can rent a kayak and walk along the bay.

For activities outside the beaches, there can be walks along the trail between the latter (about 15 minutes), as well as a hike to the Thaan Prawet waterfall, located in the mountains, again between two beaches. Viewpoints with great views (especially at dawn) are located north of Noi TNP and south of Yai TNP. On both beaches, you can rent a motorbike or a boat and go to the neighboring, no less remote beaches - Bottle Beach to the north of the bay and the beaches of the Thaan Sadet National Park, which houses the most picturesque waterfalls of the island.

There are villages near both beaches. The village near TNP Noi is smaller, near TNP Yai is the largest village in the region.

Housing format in Thong Nai Pan Bay

Thong Nai Pan Noi is more developed, with a special semi-bohemian atmosphere. There are several small boutique hotels and nice hotels, from budget accommodation to inexpensive bungalows. In the farthest north of the island, the absolutely gorgeous Santhiya Resort & SPA is arguably the best spa hotel on the island.

Thong Nai Pan Yai is more democratic. The housing format here is mid-price and budget beach bungalows with a very good price-quality ratio. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed.

How to get to Thong Nai Pan Bay

From the main pier of Koh Phangan (see the main article) songthaews run to the bay - route pick-ups. The price is about 300 TBH per person.

Only one road leads to the bay, laid through the jungle (this, in fact, is the biggest charm of the bay). The road starts at Baan Tai. Therefore, when planning a trip, take into account the time, weather and your own strength - from the main road to the bay about 40-50 minutes on a motorbike. Most of the road is serpentine, in some places it is a dirt road. Avoid driving in the evening and in bad weather.

By boat (boat taxi) the beaches of Thong Nai Pan Bay can be reached from the beaches of Haad Rin, Chaloklum, as well as from neighboring small beaches.
