The abundance of natural attractions and breathtaking corners makes Crimea attractive and desirable for every tourist. Of all the variety, there are several places that everyone should visit at least once in their life.

Ghost Valley

This mysterious place on the rocky slope of Mount Demerdzhi will not leave anyone indifferent. Huge boulders created by nature resemble people and various animals in their shapes. At sunset or dawn, it seems that the figures come to life and move, hence the name of the place. There is also an ancient legend about nomads trying to conquer the Crimean lands, but for their disrespectful attitude towards the locals, the mountain itself punished them, turning them into stone statues. It was here that the Caucasian prisoner from the famous film of the same name sang her song, dancing on one of the stones. You can get here from Alushta by bus, following to Radiant, and then walk to Demerdzhi Mountain along an asphalt road, the total travel time is about one and a half hours.

Watch a wonderful video that well conveys the beauty of the Demerdzhi-yayla mountain range in Crimea. It will inspire anyone to travel to the Crimea!

This castle hanging over the waves is depicted on the canvases of many marine painters and is a symbol of the southern coast of the peninsula. Currently, exhibition halls are open here, the expositions of which tell about the history of the region. The castle is located on the territory of the village of Gaspra, it is easy to get here from Yalta by sea or by minibuses No. 32, 27.

Yalta

Yalta can be called one of the best places for summer holidays, its unique mountain views harmoniously adjacent to the sea landscape, give it a unique beauty. Yalta is not just a resort city, it is a local landmark, spread over 70 kilometers of coastline in a semicircle of mountains in the southern part of Crimea. The piercing blue sea, green parks and streets, and bright sunlight paint the city in cheerful, uplifting colors. So Yalta and its environs can be safely considered one of the most beautiful places in Crimea for recreation.

No one will be bored in Yalta, because the city is literally full of sights. There are numerous museums, and luxurious estates, the Chekhov House Museum, the Livadia Palace and the Palace of the Emir of Bukhara, the Nevsky Cathedral. It will be interesting for children to visit the Skazka private zoo and the Glade of Skazok open-air park-museum, spend a day in the Blue Bay water park, and visit the exotic Nikitsky Botanical Garden. A special decoration of the city is the embankment, where citizens and guests meet, stroll, relax on benches in the shade of spreading trees, visit cafes and restaurants, have fun on the rides and enjoy the performances of stars in the concert hall. The Yalta baths of Roffe are considered a special attraction, where many Russian writers, such as Chekhov and Bunin, liked to enjoy the clear sea water. And under the five-century plane tree, Yesenin made appointments with Duncan, and now this huge tree bears her name. Even in winter, the city maintains a positive temperature.

Not the highest, but very picturesque mountain, towering over Yalta with majestic sheer cliffs. The peak of Ai-Petri is part of the mountain range of the same name. The cable car takes tourists to the top of the mountain, but it’s better to go down the incredibly beautiful Taraktash trail leading straight to Yalta.

New World

Initially, this place was the estate of Prince Golitsyn and the factory he opened for the production of delicious champagne. The factory operates to this day, and a museum of the history of champagne wines has been opened in one of the castles of the prince. The nature of the village is simply captivating, the impression is as if you are on another planet. This is due to the piercing emeraldness of the sea and the bizarre shapes of rocks of amazing shades. Sea water here is considered one of the cleanest on the planet. Thanks to the endemics and relict groves growing on the mountains, the area received the status of a state botanical reserve. You can admire its beauties by walking along the Golitsyn path, starting from the village. This place can be considered one of the most beautiful places in the Crimea. You can get to the New World by minibuses from Sudak or Simferopol.

Karadag Reserve

Another alien place is located in the southeast of the peninsula - the Karadag nature reserve, which is allowed to walk only accompanied by employees along a specially created eco-trail. This is a measure to protect the most unique place, most of the flora and fauna of which are listed in the Red Book. The tour lasts about 4 hours and goes through some pretty steep mountains, but it's worth it. Nature, with the help of winds and bad weather, sculpted rocks of amazing shapes - the King and Queen with their retinue, the Falcon, the Lighthouse, the Gingerbread Horse. Bizarre outlines of rocks, mysterious gorges, numerous bays, endless blueness of the sea create an unprecedented beauty of these places.

This most powerful Crimean waterfall is located on the territory of the Khapkhal nature reserve. From a height of 15 meters, streams of water fall, which do not decrease even in a drought, so it got its name, which translates as “eternally murmuring”. It is dangerous to swim in it, because stones fall along with the water, it is better to enjoy the beauty of it and the surrounding nature. You can get there by minibus from Alushta.

Cape Chameleon

Not far from Koktebl, you can see a real miracle - a cape that radically changes its color depending on the weather and time of day. This natural phenomenon can be observed all year round, and it is explained by the fact that the cape consists of clay shales, which reflect light in different ways. Unfortunately, its clay components are very prone to bad weather; over time, the cape becomes narrower. It is also noteworthy that it separates two bays, the water in which is of different colors, from a height the spectacle is simply amazing. Another natural landmark, which can be considered one of the most beautiful places in the Crimea!

The bay is the main decoration and a kind of symbol of the small resort town of Balaklava. It cuts quite deeply into the land, is winding and the entrance to it from the sea is not noticeable, thanks to which it has served as an excellent refuge from enemies for centuries. Above the bay on Fortress Hill rises an ancient fortress - Cembalo, which was erected by the Genoese many centuries ago.

The residence is a real small city with separate buildings, baths, a mosque and fountains. There are many attractions in Bakhchisaray itself and its environs, but the park "Crimea in miniature in the palm of your hand" is of particular interest to tourists. On the territory of more than 2 hectares there are 57 historical, architectural and cultural attractions of the peninsula in a reduced size. Among the exhibits there are those that are only planned to be restored, and this is the uniqueness of the park. In the evenings, you can watch an interesting light show.

Religious objects on the peninsula

Church of the Resurrection of Christ

This religious object has another name - Foros Church. It is often used, since the building is located above the village, located under the Red Rock. The church rises 400 meters above the sea, which makes it visible from the Sevastopol-Yalta highway.

Monastery of St. Anastasia

The church belonging to this monastery is called today the "bead temple". Its decoration (both external and internal) is unique. There is a certain similarity with the ethnic style in the way this religious object is decorated.

Juma-Jami Mosque

The second name of the mosque was Khan-Jami. Located in Evpatoria. It is perfectly visible from the sea, and along with it from the coastline. The well-known Turkish architect Khoja Sinan worked on the object.

St. George's Monastery

Located on Fiolent, in 891 it was founded by Greek sailors. The Holy Great Martyr George came to their aid at the moment when the sailors were shipwrecked near the Fiolent rocks. In honor of his appearance to the sailors, the Rock of the Holy Apparition with a cross, located in the water near Jasper Beach, was also named.

St. Clement's Monastery

Near the monastery are the ruins of the Byzantine Kalamita. The monastery itself is perfectly visible even from the railway tracks. This place once became a refuge for Christians hidden in the rocks.

St. Nicholas Church

The building is in the shape of a pyramid. It is located on the hill of the Fraternal Cemetery in Sevastopol. It is a monument to people who defend the city from enemy attacks. This year the temple turns 160 years old.

Temple of Donators

Placed in a hard-to-reach place of the Crimea. It is difficult to find it among the Eski-Kermen massifs, but having accomplished such a feat, tourists will not be able to contain their emotions. The tiny cave-type church is beautifully painted with frescoes. The monks have been hiding here for a long time.

The lighthouse, which is also a temple, is located in the heart of the village of Malorechenskoye, not far from Alushta. It can be seen from different points of the peninsula, as the structure rises above the sea. There is also a unique operating museum, which contains exhibits from sunken ships (from the Titanic to the Kursk) from different eras.

Synagogue Egia-Kapai

It is also called handicraft, since it was the artisans who invested most of the funds in the construction of this object in 1912. There is a tour guide.

Karaite kenas

The spiritual center in Evpatoria is intended for a small nation of the Earth - the Karaites.

Crimea is a separate story that must happen to everyone. It has absorbed an amazing amount of beauty, sights and simple human joys in the form of blooming lavender or breakfast, along with mountain echoes on the seashore.

It is better to travel around the Crimea by car. So you can choose the route yourself and take your time to enjoy every moment, which opens up a lot for the autotraveller. The whole trip can take about 5 days, but any experienced tourist will advise to increase this period by at least three times.

Most popular route

One of the most impressive car routes in the Crimea:

  • Kerch - Feodosia - Planerskoye (Koktebel) - Sudak - Novy Svet - Zelenogorye - Yalta - Alupka - Ai-Petri - Scientific.

Only about 500 km one way.

Kerch – Feodosia

The Kerch ferry crossing itself is already an attraction. A kind of mini-sea voyage. Crossing the water section of the path from 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the weather. During this time, you can fully enjoy the seascapes and feel like a little sailor. From Kerch to Feodosia by car to go a little over an hour.

One of the main advantages of the city is the lack of congestion. There are always tourists, but there are not too many of them, so walks will turn into enjoying the scenery from the embankment without unnecessary pushing with your elbows.

It is best to leave the car in a shady place and take a walk. In this way, you will bypass the entire city in a few hours.

Legendary Kaffa

Interesting places in Feodosia:

  • Aivazovsky Gallery;

Aivazovsky is the best marine painter in the world. Viewing his creations is a true aesthetic pleasure. Starting a cultural program from this place is the key to a successful holiday and the right attitude for a further journey.

  • Green Museum;
  • Column of Constantine;
  • Genoese fortress.

Do not forget to take a walk around the surroundings near the fortress, but be careful - in some places the seashore is very steep. By the way, have you ever seen capers bloom? No? Nothing, having been here, fix it.

Koktebel

It bears two names, the second is Planerskoe, which the place owes to Mount Uzun-Syrt and comfortable winds. Even in the Soviet years, competitions between glider pilots from different countries were held on the mountain, a truly historical place.

You can spend the night here, there are many places. Decompose faster to enjoy some of the most beautiful views of the Crimea that open from the Uzun-Syrt (Klementieva) mountain for a longer time.

Separately, it must be said about overnight stays in the Crimea for car travelers. Along the entire peninsula there are picturesque camping sites. There you can safely leave the car in the designated parking lot, collect drinking water and spend the night. Although the highlight of the Crimean holiday is the ability to sleep anywhere.

To spend the night, you just need to turn off the busy road. A dream in a mountainous area will leave a special impression, where the stars are closer and the landscapes are colorful.

  • Mount Klementieva;
  • Starfall of memories;

A place where dreams come true. All guests talk about the special energy of the space, which is felt more subtle if you enjoy it in the air while flying on a hang glider or paraglider.

Golden Gate
Starfall of memories
Kara-Dag
Mount Klementieva

Do not forget to swim on the beach of Koktebel, wash off the "air dust" after the flights.

  • Kara-Dag;
  • Golden Gate.

Sudak - New World

If you decide to visit the Genoese fortress again, remember that the entrance will be paid, unlike the entrance to Feodosia.

For those who spent their time on the stone walls of ancient structures, they will especially like the calm rest of the New World with its picturesque bays with camping sites where you can spend the night.

Don't pass by!

the most memorable places in the New World:

  • Golitsyn trail;
  • Grotto of Chaliapin.

Golitsyn trail
Grotto of Chaliapin

Take water and lunch with you. If you do not have a solid experience of climbing steep mountains, it is better not to leave the paths. The Crimean mountains are famous for their steepness and high danger of falling down.

You can stay on the trail all day, there is something to see and take unforgettable photos.

Important point! You can get to almost any historical or simply beautiful place on the Crimean peninsula for free. To do this, you need to have ingenuity, courage and be ready for adventure. And of course, ask experienced travelers how to do it.

Zelenogorie

The advantage of traveling around the Crimea by car is the ability to independently lay a route. Near Zelenogorye, you definitely should not follow any strictly established tourist routes. Give space to creativity and spontaneous desires. Feel free to turn off the road if it seemed that there, around the corner, something beautiful and new was waiting. Don't refuse to take risks. The most interesting impressions usually arise precisely after unexpected actions.

So it is in the Crimea - here, wherever you turn, you will always see something fascinating. Zelenogorie is no exception: waterfalls, tracts, trails, beautiful views. The choice is large.

Yalta-Alupka

On the way to Yalta, there is the city of Alushta, which, unfortunately, may not leave the most pleasant impressions. For example, you can’t just get parking for a car, you must definitely rent a house. Therefore, this town is just passing by for the time being.

But the surroundings of Alushta delight with their mountains Kastel, Denerdzhi, Chatyr-Dag, fortress ruins and the Valley of Ghosts.

The pearl of the peninsula and its surroundings:

  • Glade of Fairy Tales;
  • Vorontsov Palace;
  • Ai-Petri;

In the lower reaches of the mountain, there are many offering to “bring up” for a certain amount. If you have your own car, it’s better to drive by yourself, of course, if you don’t want to walk and enjoy the beauties of the mountains.

The most common way to get up is by cable car. The trailers, although old, are made to last and there is no particular risk when climbing. It is best to have a bite to eat at least an hour before the ascent, so that once at the top you don’t go to numerous eateries and enjoy the beauties in peace.

Ai-Petri is truly one of the main symbols of the Crimea, so there are many of those who are interested in your pocket. Checkpoints, merchants, guides - remember, you can do without all this.

Back down, you can remember that you have a car and try out a good serpentine road leading through the plateau.

  • Grand Canyon.

It is there that the road from the serpentine leads after Ai-Petri. You need to set aside a whole day to see it. Be sure to take your time and charge your cameras.

Scientific

Nauchny is an urban-type settlement in which the Crimean Astrophysical Laboratory is located. There are several small museums, observatories, telescopes and the atmosphere of real scientific experiments.

In Nauchny, it will be good to stop for the night.

Tired of car life and dusty roads, you will be happy to find yourself in a cozy, quiet hotel away from the hot sun, which is really less there thanks to the densely growing pine trees.

Summing up

This route involves 500 km of travel to see only a part of the most interesting sights and bewitching landscapes of the Crimean peninsula. Of course, if you wish, you can go back by a new route or continue your journey further. It all depends on time, effort and your desire.

The Crimean peninsula is an ideal place for the most demanding tourist. There is the sea, the sun, the mountains and many amazing and picturesque places. Among them are both man-made sights and beauty created by nature. Today I will tell you about the places that are advised to visit by the locals. There are probably several corners on the list that will open the Black Sea peninsula for you from a new perspective.

Balaklava

The Crimean city of Balaklava was first mentioned by Homer. He calls it a quiet bay, hidden behind rocky mountains, so there are no big waves here. Since even the ancient Greek poet was in this city when the journey to the Crimea took several years, the inhabitants of the 21st century should definitely visit here.

Among the main attractions of the city is the Cembalo fortress. Its history begins in the 14th century, when colonizers came to Crimea. The view that opens near the main tower explains why the territory of Balaklava has always been a tasty morsel for all conquerors.

Also in Balaklava, you should visit the Naval Museum. A place for it was cut into the rock to repair submarines. For a long time, the object was classified, and the city was not on the map at all. It is believed that the building is impregnable even in the event of a bombardment. But now everyone can visit the city and admire the impregnable fortresses.

Lost World Beach

Near Balaklava there is a picturesque kilometer-long piece of land. On three sides, this part of the Black Sea coast is surrounded by impregnable rocks, and on the fourth side, it is washed by the waves of the Black Sea. Because of this isolation, it is not crowded and quiet here. Once on this beach, everyone can feel like on a desert island and take a break from the bustle of the city.

You can get to the Lost World from Balaklava by boat, boat and even an air mattress. Some get to the beach on their own - for this you need to swim a hundred meters around the ledge of Cape Aya. Rock climbing enthusiasts can visit this place by descending from the rocks. But you should be careful - sharp protrusions cut the ropes.

Waterfall "Dzhur-Dzhur"

The most full-flowing waterfall of Crimea is especially popular with guests of the peninsula. The peculiarity of Dzhur-Dzhur is that, unlike other waterfalls of the Crimea, which are fed by rainwater, it does not dry out even in the driest time. It originates from the Ulu-Uzen River, which falls along the rapids of the Khapkhal Gorge.

You can get to this picturesque place from the village of Generalskoe, which is located near Alushta. If you are not afraid of difficulties and are ready to climb the mountains on your own, then you will have to walk about 12 kilometers one way. If this climb is not for you, contact the locals. They will be happy to take you to the very pit of the waterfall.

Safari park "Taigan"

In the Taigan Crimean Safari Park you can observe the life of 60 lions, 40 tigers and hundreds of other animals, including giraffes, crocodiles, monkeys, roe deer, camels. Such a live 3D tour will leave an unforgettable experience for you and your children.

Since the territory of the park is quite extensive, more than 30 hectares, there is a hotel complex where you can stay overnight to continue your tour in the morning. After the walk, it is worth refreshing in local cafes. Such a meal surrounded by wild animals will surely be remembered for a long time. Don't forget to take a ride on the Ferris wheel - you can see the entire territory of the park from it and offer a picturesque view of the White Mountain and the local reservoir.

The road to Taigan Park is only 40 km from Simferopol to Belogorsk. You can get there either by your own car or by using the services of local entrepreneurs and tour operators.

Chersonese

The ancient ruins of the ancient city of Khersones are located just 3 kilometers from Sevastopol. The surviving columns will make everyone think about the power of history and those periods when they really built for centuries and worked conscientiously.

Once upon a time, Prince Vladimir of Kiev was baptized here. Therefore, in addition to the ruins, in Chersonese you can visit the most beautiful Vladimir Cathedral, decorated in the Byzantine style.

Do not forget to throw a stone at the Kherson bell, which is considered a symbol for all Sevastopol sailors. In the old days, its sound served as a signal in bad weather. During the tour, you will definitely be told the romantic story associated with it.

On the territory of Chersonesos there is also a preserved ancient theater. In summer, you can watch interesting open-air performances, performances and festivals.

In addition to historical value, Chersonese is attractive because it offers a picturesque panorama of the city of Sevastopol. Also here you can swim in the sea and feel like a real archaeologist by taking part in the expedition.

Panorama "Defense of Sevastopol"

It is worth coming to Sevastopol not only for the sake of Chersonese. This sea city leaves no one indifferent. After visiting the ships in the Sevastopol Bay, be sure to visit the Panorama. This is the name of the museum dedicated to the defenders of the city from the French and British in the 19th century. This is a huge picture that surrounds you from all sides. Climbing up to the observation deck along the spiral staircase, you can view it in more detail. The subject foreground will create the effect of presence at the battle for Sevastopol.

Interestingly, during the Second World War, the museum was attacked, but the residents of the city managed to save and take out fragments of the exposition. After the end of the war, the Panorama was restored and a new, no less impressive canvas was opened. Any local resident will be happy to tell you how to get to the museum.

Vorontsov Palace

The majestic building for Count Vorontsov was built in the first half of the 19th century according to the drawings of Eduard Blor. This architect also designed Westminster Abbey and part of Buckingham Palace in London. For many years the palace was the family nest of the Vorontsov family. After nationalization by the Bolsheviks, they made a museum of Russian art here, where they brought the most famous paintings, expensive dishes and furniture from all over the union.

Near the palace is another man-made creation, which is called a local landmark - Vorontsov Park. A variety of plants are collected here, from which picturesque flower beds and flower beds are formed. Fountains, grottoes, waterfalls, sunny glades, spread over an area of 40 hectares, will surprise you with their luxury and grandeur.

The Vorontsov Palace and the park of the same name are located in the resort town of Alupka on the southern coast of Crimea.
