We rested from January 10 to January 20, 2019, with a family, with children 17 and 10 years old. I choose hotels based on reviews, including this site. So to everyone who wrote - thank you very much! You helped me a lot to get my head around and avoid mistakes. I am writing my review in the hope that our experience will help someone.
Territory. The hotel is large, beautifully decorated area, everything is clean and well maintained. Lots of flowers and flowering trees. There are no bad smells. Large and clean pools (we watched them being cleaned every morning). Slides are an incomparable pleasure for children! Especially for the active and those who do not want to lie quietly on the sunbeds. The slides are located in the shade, which is very correct, you can ride even during the day, in the heat. The water in the pools was swallowed, no one got sick.
Breakfasts. Good, satisfying. There is a corner of Thai cuisine, there are European dishes. Omelettes, scrambled eggs are fried right there. Potatoes, noodles, sausages, sometimes meat, fish. From baking - donuts, pancakes, waffles, croissants. There are dry breakfasts, milk. From fruits - papayas, pineapples, watermelons and sometimes bananas. Even at rush hour there was always a free table. There were drinks such as hibiscus (loved it) and herbal teas.
Minuses. Drinks - vaguely reminiscent of juice, rather powder. Tea is a disappointment. One bag (regular tea bag!) is brewed in a liter teapot. Hmmm ... We are used to brewing a bag for one cup, or two, as a last resort. It is impossible to call what was in the teapot tea, more - tea-colored water. Fortunately, tea could be drunk in the room (again, there are four of us, and there was always only two people for tea, coffee, sugar and water). Coffee is so-so. There is no children's menu. Lunch boxes (breakfasts in a package for those who leave early) are scarce. Boiled eggs and milk, of course, are useful. But cleaning an egg on the road, washing it down with milk is somehow not very good. That leaves a sandwich and a tangerine with a muffin. It seems that they are not hungry, but the breakfast is paid for normal, in full, and then ...
Number. We lived on the first floor of the sixth building, overlooking the garden. Silence, birds singing, once even saw a long snake crawling. But there are a lot of mosquitoes. On the first night, we decided to sleep, inhaling southern aromas (and the air there is beyond words). The child was bitten so that a living place was not visible. The fumigator (neither ours nor the local one) did not help. So it is better to close the balcony door. Refrigerator, safe, hair dryer, kettle - everything worked properly. The renovation is not new, but everything looks decent. Our room had two huge two-meter beds, white linen, clean. It didn't smell like damp. The lighting in the room is dim in the evening. There is a place on the balcony for drying things, but we also took our own rope, it came in handy.
Cleaning is normal, without diligence. We washed our feet and shoes from the sand in the pool fountain, so we had no problems with sand in the room. The main thing is that the towels were changed daily. they don't dry out. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap - all in liquid form, topped up regularly.
Minuses. Several times when cleaning towels were not reported. For example, they will put four white, but three orange (beach) or three small ones. Several times I ran to the maids to give the required number of towels, because. I did not want to pay fines for loss or "theft". Be carefull.
I already said about water, tea, coffee and sugar that they give out only for two. Crockery (cups, spoons) is also only for two people. In my opinion, a clear minus. Still, the number of category "Family Room" is not designed for a couple, but for a family! Expenses are not large, more from the category of "attention".
Location. Quiet area, no fuss. The youth will be bored. Families with children are the best. The beach is wonderful. The sea is clean. The waves were quite powerful. Away to the left, where there are stones, excellent snorkeling, a lot of fish. Market, cafes for every taste and budget. Close to the sea, but be sure to cross the road. This is where problems arise: pedestrians do not give way. Hold children's hands. Very dangerous.
How the hotel is guarded remains a mystery to me. At first glance, no way! There are no bracelets, as in Turkey, there are no books, as in Spain, and even more so, there is no checkpoint, like we have. At breakfasts, they sometimes noted who was from which room, but no one ever asked for confirmation (a document or a key, for example).
Entertainment. Almost every evening musicians sang, their repertoire includes not only popular songs from all over the world, but also several songs in Russian. It was nice. Clockwork guys. Children's animation took place in the children's pool, in English. By 10 p.m., the noise gradually subsided. During the day, it's also quiet. Music by the pool turned on after 16.00.

The hotel is great!
I put more emphasis on the minuses so that the hotel administration can work on them if possible. In the rest - everything is wonderful. The staff is polite, attentive. The toilet was clogged - they even came late in the evening and cleaned it. Forgot the key in the room and slammed the door - helped to open.
Finally, a few notes that are not directly related to the hotel itself.
Hotel guides. Ramina is a cunning fox. Wrote about it, I will not repeat. We lost two days (the first - the meeting itself and these pseudo-masks, the second - a "review" and nothing showing tour of the island). She lied and did not blush that they no longer carry shopping, that their excursions are cheaper than in agencies on the street. Oh, and he knows how to cloud the brain! Walk away and don't listen. Or then bite your elbows like we do.
Sun burns. Dear parents, please apply sunscreen to children not only on their shoulders and backs, but also on their faces! Faces! How many children walk around with bloody burn marks on their foreheads and noses! Take care of yourself too. The sun is very aggressive. Creams are expensive. If you do not feel sorry for 800-1000 rubles per tube - buy there. Many people buy tunics made of thin fabric with hoods and long sleeves (250-300 baht, bargain), they save from the sun, dry quickly, and are not hot in them.
Nutrition. In a cafe for less than 100 (well, 99))) baht no food, plus a drink. In total, for a family of four, one meal (the simplest, without frills) cost about 700 baht. Ice cream (yummy!) 70 baht. Fruits: mangoes from 50 baht per kilogram, pineapples at 40 baht apiece. In short, not cheap. A few days later, we began to buy noodles (pad thai) and rice from the "macashniks", on average, at 80 baht per serving (one serving was enough for us for two). They cook in front of your eyes, the food is thermally processed. Never got poisoned. Water, juices and various little things were bought at the 7/11 store. There is a market on Kata beach. They cook fresh seafood on the coals. Prices are much cheaper than in cafes. Lobster - only 700 baht (against 1200 in a cafe).
Massage. ABOUT! This is bliss! We went to the salon, where the masseuses in purple T-shirts. For the sake of a massage, I'm ready to come there again! (Just kidding, not just for that. Thailand is beautiful!)

According to them, their rooms were quite spacious, bright, comfortable and clean. The furniture in the apartment is not new, but of good quality. Guests note comfortable beds and spacious wardrobes. With regard to technology, some complaints were caused by the operation of air conditioners. So, for some guests, they, according to them, did not cool well, while others, on the contrary, could not adjust so that the room was warmer. But this did not become some serious problem that could ruin the vacation. Also, the guests note as one of the features that the keys to the room are ordinary here, not in the form of a card. In addition, the reception will give you a key to the safe. For many tourists, this was a little unusual, but it did not cause any particular inconvenience. As for the pluses, the guests liked the presence in the rooms of large balconies, modern TVs with Russian-language channels, tea and coffee making facilities. According to our compatriots, there is no hairdryer in the apartments. However, if necessary, you can take it to the reception. They will not take money from you for this.
Cleaning
As for this issue, the opinions of the guests of Phuket Orchid Resort 4 * differ somewhat in regard to it. So, some of the guests claim that their rooms were cleaned very well, they regularly washed the floors, dusted, changed towels (both for the bath and for the beach) and bed linen. However, some tourists claim that the cleaning in their apartments left much to be desired. According to them, their bed linen was rarely changed, towels were updated reluctantly, and the dust was practically not wiped off. Some guests expressed the opinion that much depends on the maids themselves. So, someone was lucky to live in a building where a cleaning lady takes her job very responsibly, but someone is not. However, in general, there were no particular complaints on this issue from travelers. If the vacationers were not satisfied with the cleaning in some way, they could always report this to the reception, counting on an improvement in the situation.
Check-in, departure
As our compatriots note, the Phuket Orchid Resort rarely adheres to the check-out time when checking in guests. Therefore, even if you arrive at the hotel early in the morning, if there are available rooms of the category you booked, the keys to the apartments will be given to you almost immediately. Tourists found this approach a big plus. After all, you can immediately sit in the room and start relaxing. If, for some reason, they cannot settle you directly upon arrival, then there is also no reason to be upset. After all, you can leave your luggage in the luggage room and take a dip in the pool, sunbathe on a sun lounger, refresh yourself with a drink at the bar, walk around the neighborhood, have breakfast or lunch, or go straight to the beach.
As for the day of departure, the occupied room should be vacated before noon. Moreover, if you plan to leave the Phuket Orchid Resort Thailand) only in the evening, then you can extend your stay in the apartment for an additional fee or leave your luggage at the reception and continue using the hotel infrastructure until the very moment of departure.
Nutrition
Most of our compatriots, when booking a stay at the Phuket Orchid Resort, chose the option that includes breakfast only. Judging by the reviews, the guests did not regret this decision. As for breakfasts, according to tourists, they are repeated every day, but the choice of dishes and products is wide enough, so you don’t have to eat the same thing all the time. So, in the mornings in the hotel restaurant you can refresh yourself with soup, meat and fish dishes, sausages, cheese and sausage cuts, delicious pastries, vegetables, fruits, various side dishes. Therefore, the road should be crossed very carefully, because it is not customary to let pedestrians through here, even if they walk along a zebra.
So, the beach next to Orkid Resort is called Karon Beach. Our compatriots were very pleased with him. There are no sun loungers and umbrellas here, so you can sit on the mats or rugs you brought with you. Also in one of the neighboring shops you can buy a sun umbrella. Experienced tourists advise vacationers to visit Kata Beach. You can walk to it from the hotel in about 20 minutes. According to travelers, the sea is calmer here, so spending time with children is much more comfortable than on Karon Beach.
