Sveti Stefan: a trip to a unique island hotel. Holidays in Sveti Stefan in Montenegro: hotels, beach, prices Is it possible to get to the island of Sveti Stefan

Approximately 6 kilometers from Budva and is surrounded by a rather large resort village, in which tourists live.

It should be immediately warned that this article is primarily about the island of St. Stephen, as one of, and not as a holiday resort.

Some information about the island of Sveti Stefan

The island of Sveti Stefan is one of the most expensive. There are 58 luxurious apartments here, including 8 in the world-famous Villa Milocer. The beaches on the island are about 2 kilometers long and consist of beautiful pink sand. The island is connected to the land by a small isthmus made of gravel washed in layers, which in itself is a unique phenomenon - the isthmus is of natural, not artificial origin.

By the way, since 2009 the official name of the island is Aman Sveti Stefan, but few people know about it. And it turned out like this:

  • By 2007, the island was partially abandoned and had long since lost its status as a luxury hotel due to the war in the former Yugoslavia.
  • The Montenegrin government decided to restore the island, but the Montenegrins did not have money for this.
  • The island was leased for 30 years to an international travel company Aman Resorts and already in 2009 it was renovated and reopened.
  • Now the island of St. Stephen serves as a vacation spot for very rich and influential people.

Interesting fact: On August 28, during the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a service and an island are held in the Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God open to tourists absolutely free.

Let's try to look at the island from the nearest beach:

Sveti Stefan village

Near the island there is a tourist village where ordinary people can afford to relax. The prices here are quite high, even higher than in, but still they are acceptable for many. Rest in the village may also seem interesting. If you live, for example, in, we advise you - it costs only 1.5 Euros. If you decide, then there will be no problems at all. The road to the island of St. Stephen is very comfortable and easy.

The beaches near the island of St. Stephen are a little less loaded than in other resorts, and the place itself is quite interesting.

History of Sveti Stefan

You can read about the history of the island in sufficient detail, for example, on. We will only briefly talk about the main thing:

  • The island was first inhabited in 1442. The inhabitants of the village of Petrovichi then defeated the Ottoman army, which was returning from a successful raid on the city and recaptured a lot of good. In honor of this, a fortress and the church of St. Stephen were built on the island.
  • During the reign Republic of Venice the island was an important transport hub and protected the bay from the sea.
  • Then for a long time the island of St. Stephen turned into an ordinary fishing village. For many years there was a decline.
  • During Yugoslav times, President Josef Broz Tito decided restore the island. The last 20 inhabitants were relocated to the mainland, and Sveti Stefan turned into a chic resort. At the same time, they tried to preserve the old buildings.
  • For several years the island was one of the most prestigious resorts in the world. Numerous celebrities have visited here (incomplete list below).
  • After the collapse of Yugoslavia, the war began. Forget about tourism island partially abandoned.
  • Rebuild the island only started in 2007. The government had no money, and therefore the island was leased for 30 years to a large chain of luxury hotels. The island began to receive rich guests again already in 2009.
  • For several years the island was completely closed to visitors- Only guests or those who booked a table in a restaurant could get here.
  • Since 2014 on the island guided tours.
  • Now on the island of St. Stephen, as before, the rich and famous rest, but it is still far from its former greatness.

Villa Milocer

Villa Milocer is considered one of the main attractions of the island of St. Stephen. It was built in 1934 and was the summer residence of the King of Montenegro.

Near the villa you can see two beaches with pink sand - King's beach (entrance 50-70 euros) and Queen's beach, which is generally closed to visitors and is intended only for vacationers in the villa.

Near Milocer you can see Villa 21, the most expensive villa on the Adriatic coast. The cost of rooms here is generally determined only by the auction and usually reaches colossal sums.

Famous guests of the island of Sveti Stefan

Celebrities regularly vacation on St. Stephen's Island. It was especially popular during the heyday of Yugoslavia, but even now you can see Hollywood stars, famous musicians or successful businessmen here. Let's try to list only a few of the most famous guests of the island:

  • Orson Welles- famous actor, screenwriter and director;
  • Elizabeth Taylor- famous actress, "Queen of Hollywood" during its heyday;
  • Sophia Loren- famous Italian actress and singer;
  • Margaret- British princess
  • Carlo Ponti- a classic of Italian and world cinema;
  • Ingemar Stenmark- Olympic champion skier from Sweden;
  • Kirk Douglas- an outstanding American actor;
  • Boris Spassky- 10th world chess champion;
  • Bobby Fischer- The 11th world chess champion and the best chess player of the 20th century, who won the legendary (and his last) $5 million chess match against Spassky here with a score of 10:5. By the way, after this match, Fischer was no longer able to return to the United States - an embargo was in effect against Yugoslavia.
  • Andrea Bocelli famous Italian singer.
  • Novak Djokovic- the first racket of the world.
  • Claudia Schiffer- German supermodel
  • Sylvester Stallone is a famous American actor.
  • And many, many more...

Sveti Stefan is quite problematic, but Nikolai Stepanov succeeded. He illustrated his impressions of an elite vacation spot with photographs.

There is a Russian proverb: "Forbidden fruit is sweet." Here I am Russian, and I could not do anything with myself. Yes, the postcard city, which is also the symbol of Montenegro, is closed for mass visits, it is also the island-hotel Sveti Stefan.

Yes, a lot of world-class stars rest there, they reserve anonymously, they also rest anonymously. Paparazzi on the beaches in front of Sveti Stefan are on duty, catching every appearance of stars in public.

In July 2014, Novak Djokovic got married here and got married in the Church of St. Sava, located right on the island. They say that at different times there were: Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Kirk Douglas, Carlo Ponti, Claudia Slate, Sylvester Stallone. Members of the British royal family also like to visit here.

According to unverified reports, Brezhnev, Nixon and even Yuri Gagarin rested here at one time.

It is known that the legendary Bobby Fischer played the famous chess match against Boris Spassky in 1992, violating Western sanctions against Yugoslavia.

In general, I was simply bursting with curiosity, what is inside all these people attracts, that they are ready to pay up to 3,000 euros per day. By the way, the legendary "Villa 21" does not have a fixed price at all, the cost of living in it is determined on the basis of an auction ....

It is said that the auctions of the rich sometimes make living in this villa the most expensive in the entire Mediterranean. In general, I will not explain how, but my colleagues organized a tour of Sveti Stefan for me. I can't say that I regretted going there.

In general, the theme and spirit of the old Venetian city is also present here. Narrow streets, steep stairs, smooth paving stones under your feet, but instead of boutiques, cafes, shops, you will see greenery and flowers, flowers and greenery around. Beauty and silence! The streets of Sveti Stefan are simply drowned in greenery and flowers.

Sometimes they lead you to a wall with loopholes, where you can see the fortifications and cannons of this old fortress-settlement of the Pashtrovich tribe. As expected, from the walls of Sveti Stefan a gorgeous view of Budva, Milocer, beaches opens up.

A little lower, through the greenery, you can suddenly see a rich family bathing in the pool, and this pool is located, for example, 5 meters from the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky, as seen in the photo. Contrasts, gentlemen, they are contrasts.

Antiquity outside and modern inside, history and modern rich ... Probably, all this creates the alluring spirit of this unique island-hotel *****.

Photo review about the rest in the village of Sveti Stefan, which is located in 8 kilometers south of Budva in Montenegro. It is here that the famous island of Sveti Stefan is located.

True, you can only enter the island if you live at the Aman Sveti Stefan hotel or if you have booked a table in the restaurant of this hotel in advance. If this is not your case, then you will have to admire the island from the beaches of the village of the same name.

If I chose a resort for a relaxing beach holiday in Montenegro for a week or two in the summer, I would fly to Sveti Stefan, and not to Budva, Petrovac and other popular towns.

The village of Sveti Stefan and a view of the island of the same name

St. Stephen's beaches

The beach of the village is divided into two sections, in the center there is an isthmus leading to the island.

On right from the isthmus there is a beach for guests of the island hotel Aman Sveti Stefan. Prices for villas in Aman Sveti Stefan from 1100€ before 5000€ per day.

If you do not relax at the hotel, but just come to this beach for one day, then the price of the rest is 100€ (entrance, two sun loungers + umbrella)

The beach has coarse sand, clear sea, sun loungers and umbrellas. I went to this beach calmly, but almost immediately a hotel employee ran up:

“Sorry, you can’t go to the beach!”

- You can't - you can't.

Beach for hotel guests, which is “not possible”

Left from the bridge there is a public beach, where everyone can go for free. Here, near the sea, there is no longer sand, but large pinkish pebbles.

And this is a beach where everyone can

Cons of staying in Sveti Stefan

  • The village descends to the sea in tiers. Many houses and hotels stand on the hill. The views are gorgeous, but you have to walk to the beach on the steps from the mountain and back up the mountain. Tiring.

Most houses on the hill
  • Large pebbles on the beach. For those who are accustomed to sandy beaches, stone beaches can be a problem.

Pebble beaches, large stones in the water
  • You can’t go to the island of Sveti Stefan if you don’t live in a hotel or have booked a table in a restaurant. Restaurant prices from 12€ - this is the cheapest snack, on average, dishes are 30€ , there are 65€ , the maximum price that I saw on the menu - 85€
  • Parking near the beach is paid. Whether 1€ , or 2€ an hour, I don't remember exactly.
  • Prices for hotels and apartments are higher than in other villages near Budva
  • There are no large supermarkets in Sveti Stefan. If you plan to cook at home, then it is better to go to Budva supermarkets. for products, although higher than the average for Montenegro, but still lower than in the small shops of St. Stephen.

Stairs leading to the apartments

Apartments and hotels in Sveti Stefan

Below are the prices for apartments and hotels in the village of Sveti Stefan. When choosing accommodation, carefully read the reviews and see exactly where it is located. If you are not ready to walk the stairs, look at the map and choose accommodation near the sea.

For example, near the sea you can rent these luxury apartments overlooking the island (the sea is 50 meters away, the staff speaks Russian).

The main feature of the Sveti Stefan resort in Montenegro is that not everyone can get to it. Only hotel guests have the opportunity to relax on its territory. Actually, the entrance to the island is carried out only through the hotel Sveti Stefan - Aman.

An interesting fact is that this resort appeared on the site of an ordinary fishing village, from which the local population was simply evicted in 1950. Seven years later, a chic resort grew on this territory, which is still popular today.

A lot of stars rest in the hotels of Sveti Stefan. Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Elizabeth II, Claudia Schiffer, Sylvester Stallone came here. It should be noted that all celebrities lived in the Aman Sveti Stefan 5 * hotel, in room 118, where all famous people are accommodated.

Vacationers at the Sveti Stefan resort can easily get to the nearby city of Budva by regular bus, which stops near the entrance to the recreation area. There are many entertainments in Budva. In particular, these are clubs, a large water park, museums, natural parks, as well as restaurants serving Mediterranean cuisine. The cost of the trip will cost about 2-3 euros per person, which is quite a bit.

Hotels

There are several hotels on the island where guests stay. They are divided into different categories.

The most expensive place to stay is the Aman Sveti Stefan 5 * hotel, which is located in an old fishing village. It is part of the famous Aman Resorts chain. On the territory of this hotel, everything is done with the preservation of the old style in architecture, as well as the atmosphere of that time. Everything is arranged in the rooms as comfortably as possible: air conditioners, expensive and high-quality furniture, guests can use a mini-bar and access to the Internet.

Hotels belonging to the 4 * class also offer very good conditions for living. Among them are such hotels as Adrovic 4 * and Azimut 4 *. The guests living in them within walking distance have a clean and well-equipped beach, as well as the main infrastructure.

As for 3 * hotels, the guests living in them have access to the minimum conditions necessary for recreation. However, according to many vacationers, they are more than enough. Places for rest of this class are called Adrovic Small Hotel 3 * and Alessandra App 3 *.

Beach

As for the Sveti Stefan beach, it is conditionally divided into two parts, between which there is an isthmus leading to the island. One half of the beach is intended for guests of the most expensive hotel on the island - Aman Sveti Stefan 5 *. Its territory is ennobled with various amenities: sun loungers, umbrellas, towels. There are also equipped changing cabins, toilets and showers. There are several bars on the beach where guests can enjoy soft drinks and cocktails.

On the other side of the isthmus there is a beach where all tourists who come to the island of Sveti Stefan can relax. It is also ennobled in the same way as described above. An interesting fact is that all the beaches of the resort have a total length of the coastline - 2 km.

Entertainment on the island

All vacationers in Sveti Stefan hotels in Montenegro have the opportunity to have fun, and in different ways. There are clubs where vacationers can dance to the incendiary hits of famous DJs. Often the island organizes excursions to see local attractions. On the beach, all those who prefer an active holiday can ride a "tablet" or "banana", go surfing or rent a yacht for a while.

In the nearest city, Budva, there is a large water park, which everyone can go to - the road will cost about 2 euros. As for local attractions, tourists go to see local natural parks and beautiful gardens. An art gallery is open here, which exhibits the works of local talented artists.

Each building on the peninsula is a historical piece of architecture, characteristic of a particular era. Therefore, many guests of the resort are interested in going on excursions around the territory of Sveti Stefan.

Nutrition

Tourists vacationing on Sveti Stefan can eat both in hotels and in establishments that can be found everywhere on the island. There are restaurants, cafes and bars here.

From restaurants, tourists can visit Famelja Kentera, Drago, More, The Piazza, Konoba Langust. They serve Mediterranean cuisine as well as fish dishes. Prices in establishments are somewhat high, especially when compared with those indicated in the menu of establishments in neighboring cities.

Vacation with children

As for a family holiday on Sveti Stefan, according to tourists, it is not very convenient. First of all, this is due to the location of the resort - it is located in a mountainous area, which is not very comfortable to move with a stroller to the sea coast. There is, of course, a detour that runs along the highway, but in this case, the pedestrian will have to walk an additional kilometer.

The public beach of the island is covered with pebbles, which is not very convenient for adults to move around, but children feel quite comfortable here. In addition, the entrance to the sea is gentle, which allows children to enter the sea with greater safety.

For kids on the island, there are many conditions that make their stay at the resort more fun and comfortable. A large number of playgrounds work here, slides are installed in several places, where children can frolic from the heart. On one of the large children's areas, located on the embankment, uncomplicated carousels are installed.

How to get to the island

Sveti Stefan can be reached from the international airport, which is located in the village of Tivat. The distance from it to the resort is 30 km. If you check into any of the hotels on the island, the best option would be to order a transfer service. Then the guest will be delivered to the room quickly and comfortably.

Also, tourists can always use the services of a taxi, which can be reached from any nearby city or from the airport. The cost of a taxi ride from Tivat airport will be about 25-35 euros. You can also use a cheaper way - get on public transport.

Prices

The cost of living on the island is somewhat high when compared with other resorts. For example, in the main hotel of the island Aman Sveti Stefan 5 * you can rent a villa for 5000 euros per day. The minimum cost of apartments in this hotel is 1100 euros.

If a guest comes to the beach, he will have to pay 100 euros for staying on it. This price includes two sun loungers and a beach umbrella.

Why you should go to Sveti Stefan

The question arises as to where to go on vacation? Sveti Stefan can bypass several competing resorts in several respects. In particular, they include the purity of the sea. It should be noted that the beach here is also very clean and not crowded, which tourists will really like. Anyone who wants to see the view of the sea coast can do this from their room - hotels are mainly designed in such a way that guests can admire beautiful landscapes from their windows. Also from here you can watch the island of St. Stephen, which is located near the resort.

The resort of Sveti Stefan has a developed infrastructure. On its territory there are several shops, restaurants, clubs and cafes where tourists can have fun.

In this post, we will follow the most popular tourist route from Budva to the island of Sveti Stefan. It is no secret that people go to Montenegro for the sea and beach holidays. It is a beach holiday that brings our compatriots to the Budva coast, I suggest taking a walk along the entire Budva coast and choosing the best place for a beach holiday.

  • total route length (one way): approximately 9 kilometers;
  • time to complete the route: from 3 hours;
  • comfort level: good (there are several sections where you have to walk along the track).

Almost on the entire route, you walk along the sea, there is one section (from Kamenevo beach to Przhno resort) where you have to walk along a busy highway (about 500 meters). But it is on this section of the road that you will find the best fish restaurant on the entire Budva Riviera - this is the Kusta tavern.

There are many similar routes on the Internet, one of the best is described in the blog of Mila Demenkova, so I did not discover America, but I significantly changed the existing routes and supplemented them with useful information.

You will probably like this route so much that you will walk along it regularly, I did. What you should know before going on this route, here is a short list of my recommendations.

  • do not try to complete the entire route in one day - you will get tired and not get any pleasure from the walk, it is better to stretch the pleasure over several walks;
  • do not torture yourself - there is no need to walk the entire route, mix it with bus or taxi trips;
  • take care of yourself - most of the route goes along the sea, a hat, good sunscreen and a bottle of water are a must on this walk;
  • do not go in the heat - I recommend going along this route either early in the morning or in the evening, I do not recommend roaming along the coast at the peak of the daytime heat;
  • make frequent stops - throughout the route there are cafes and restaurants, or just cozy shops, let yourself relax there.

To visit Sveti Stefan, it is not necessary to walk, you can use public transport (all details about Montenegrin buses), or rent a car. About my Montenegrin automotive experience, read the link.

The entire route along the Budva Riviera fits on this google map, you just need to turn off unnecessary layers and the map will become more understandable. On the same map, the branches of the route are also indicated (the old Oliva in Becici, the monastery path on Mount Chelobrdo). The map will help you plan your hike in advance.

Embankment of Budva

I propose to start our walking tour along the beaches of the Budva Riviera, in one of the cafes on the waterfront. There are many pleasant cafes and restaurants near the walls of Old Budva.

During the day it is usually crowded, but in the morning there are free tables, there is no fuss, but there is excellent coffee and a view of the Old Town and the Budva port.

Having passed the entire Slavic beach (for all the details about the main beach of Budva, look for the link), we come to its southern tip. This part of the embankment is much calmer, and prices in cafes are slightly lower. For lovers of a calm, relaxed atmosphere and high service, I recommend visiting the Dokley cafe, located at the entrance to the tunnel in Becici. The view and service are excellent, but the prices and quality of coffee are not very good.

What to see in Budva

Budva is the tourist capital of Montenegro, and there are much more options for entertainment and interesting things in this seaside city than in neighboring towns.

Of the mandatory, I would note the following: a visit to the Old Town, a visit to the Budva market, dinner at a high-rise restaurant (in the Tre Canne building), a visit to the Vidikovac observation deck. About the rest of the sights of Budva, read the link.

Tunnel from Budva to Becici

The Budva embankment rests against the sheer rock of the Zavala peninsula, a tunnel has been cut through the rock, it connects Budva and Becici.

In decorating the tunnels Montenegrins are great, instead of a sad and boring tunnel through the rock, they made a gallery tunnel. There are a lot of interesting things inside, and here is a drawing of the place where we are going.

It is possible to get to Becici bypassing the tunnel. To do this, climb the stairs and go part of the way along the top (along the highway). The view from the highway is beautiful, the whole of Budva is at a glance, but the noise and car exhausts negate all the advantages of this option.

Embankment in Becici

Coming out of the tunnel, you find yourself in the hotel backyard of Becici. To get to the embankment, you should go through the "secret" paths between the hotels. When exiting the tunnel, turn left, then straight ahead and right at the first intersection, then go all the way. Look at the map, I marked this path there.

The embankment in Becici looks like Egyptian-Turkish resorts, it is wide, evenly paved with paving slabs, on one side there is a beach, on the other there are hotels. Walking along it is convenient, but very boring.

We go towards the Rafailovici resort, on the embankment, in addition to beach cafes and restaurants, there are such stalls, they have the most affordable prices (a hot dog or a piece of pizza from 1.5 Euro), they cook deliciously and very quickly.

What to see in Becici

I recommend you visit the following places: Old Oliva above the town of Becici (in the village of Ivanovici), an observation deck on the way to the olive, the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle (next to the beach).

If you decide to visit the Old Oliva, then for this you should leave the embankment, cross the motorway in the Splendid hotel area and climb the mountains along any road. About the old Oliva over Becici, I will write a separate post.

From Becici to Rafailovici along the promenade

It takes 20 minutes to walk from Becici to the Rafailovici resort, the whole way runs along the embankment, the road is simple, it is impossible to get lost. Approximately halfway there will be the Church of the Holy Apostle Thomas, you can climb up to it and relax a bit in the shade of centuries-old trees.

Resort Rafailovici

Rafailovici is a tiny tourist town in a cozy bay. The whole life of this seaside town is concentrated on the waterfront, vacationers sit in small restaurants, all other tourist attractions are also located on the waterfront.

What to see in Rafailovici

This is a really difficult question, since I did not notice any special sights in this town. Although you can sit in the famous restaurant "Three Ribaras", in Rafailovici it is the most popular. The serving of dishes and the quality of service in this restaurant are at a normal level, but the prices are clearly too high.

You can take a look at the “emerald beach”, part of the pebbles on it has an emerald color, but the attraction is “far-fetched”. There is an opportunity to swim in a rocky bay (next to the tunnel in Kamenevo), textured rocks “grow” along the edges of the bay.

Tunnel from Rafailovichi to Kamenevo

We pass along the embankment through the town of Rafailovici, turns the corner and here civilization ends a little. Instead of cafes and restaurants, you are greeted by textured rocks. Perhaps this is the perfect place for photo shoots.

The tunnel was built with an imitation "under the cave", and even the warm light of gas discharge lamps complements the overall picture of the dungeon. Montenegrins - well done!

Kamenevo beach

We leave the cave, and directly from the cliff you can see the Kamenevo beach, hidden from prying eyes. In clear weather, the beach looks fabulous, many tourists who live in Rafailovichi go swimming on Kamenevo beach.

  • Kamenevo beach is sandy and pebbly (small pebbles), this is a rarity for Montenegrin beaches;
  • the entrance to the water is gentle - great for vacationers with children;
  • the beach is remote from the tourist villages - none of the coastal villages go to the sea in this part of the coastline.

What to see in Kamenevo

There are no attractions in Kamenevo, except for the beach itself. Nearby there is a dilapidated boarding house, but not everyone likes such sights. The boarding house stands in a semi-abandoned olive grove, you can take a walk in it.

If you go to the very end of the beach, cross the shaky bridge over the river, and then turn to the sea, you will find a cafe lost in time and space (I recommend visiting).

In the far part of the beach (if you go towards Przno), you can find a massage therapist (at least I saw him there many times). A man sits under a palm tree and immediately provides massage services. That's probably all the sights of Kamenevo.

But next to the Kamenevo beach there is a world-famous konoba (restaurant) Kusto, it is believed that this is the best fish restaurant on the entire Budva coast. Read on to find out how to find it.

If you go up the hill, which is located above the beach, then it is there that the "Monastery Path" is located on Mount Chelobrdo (4 monasteries). Follow the link for all the details about the hiking trip to all the monasteries on the mountain.

Road from Kamenevo to Przno

This is the only inconvenient section on the way from Budva to Sveti Stefan, but its duration is no more than 500 meters, which should be passed along the motorway (Jadransky way). There are no pedestrian sidewalks, in some places there is not even a curb. Be very careful.

We go to the very end of the beach, here the whole civilization ends and devastation begins. The embankment runs into a dead end, turn left, enter a dense grove and immediately turn right.

In front of you is a small bridge over a dry stream. We cross the stream and see two ways, down and to the right (towards the sea) - a tiny cafe is located here, up and to the left (towards the highway) - there will be a concrete staircase.

The staircase rests on a brand new hotel (more recently, there was a wasteland). The hotel is brand new, but they did not think of building a new comfortable staircase.

But they installed such a masterpiece pointer. Dear tourists, Kusta restaurant, Sveti Stefan island is in this direction. It's good that the highway is 50 meters away.

We go out onto the Jadransky path and on the right hand there will be a konoba "Kusta", in the same direction the road towards Przno. If you decide to follow the "Monastery Path", then you should cross the road and you will see a sign at the bus stop.

Przno beach

The resort of Przno reminded me of a sleepy fishing village, the views here are, of course, surprisingly pretty. However, from the point of view of a tourist, Przno is a very inconvenient place, I already wrote about this in a post about Budva beaches.

The town is located on a hill, the streets are narrow and winding. To be precise, there is only one street, which rests on a tiny embankment.

The beach is divided into two unequal parts, most of it belongs to the Maestral hotel (entrance fee - 50 Euros), and on a small section of the municipal beach, vacationers like herrings in a barrel (sunbeds for 20 Euros per couple). In addition to vacationers on sunbeds and towels, fishing boats are stored on the beach, such a rest.

What to see in Przno

Pržno has a huge Maestral hotel complex with a casino and other tourist attractions, if you like such activities, then you can go there for fun.

Nearby there is a good landscape gardening area of Milocer Park, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Montenegro. If you like peace and walking, then you are here, or in the direction of the "Monastic Trail".

From Przno you can go to St. Stephen's beach at least every day, it is located very close, but it will also be crowded there.

Road from Przno to Milocer beach

When we go from Przno towards Milocer, the main thing is to choose the right path. We leave the embankment and go along a small street. From the embankment, you should go as close as possible to the sea (see the photo, I indicated where to go in the signature). There are several routes from Pržno to Milocer, not all of them are equal.

Along the way, you will see this map, so you are on the right track. The map has been translated into Russian and makes it clear where you are not expected.

The trail goes through the Milocer park. Soon, on the right hand there will be a hotel complex with a closed territory and the Queen's beach, which was once called Kraljičina Plaža (4 stars). I don’t know what it is called today, it is probably part of the luxury hotel Villa Milocer, the hotel may belong to the international hotel chain AMAN.

You can take a look at the hotel territory through the fence.

You can only look at Queen's Beach from the water, it looks amazing and deserted.

Milocer beach

We pass through the Milocer park, leave behind a mysterious hotel with a closed territory, and after 200 meters the path leads us to the magnificent Royal Beach in the village of Milocer.

Outside the tourist season, anyone can enter the beach, and with the advent of the high season, a beach holiday in this section of the Montenegrin Riviera costs 120 Euros. 120 Euro for the opportunity to go to the beach and swim in clear water overlooking the island of Sveti Stefan. There are not many applicants, and this was the main calculation of the organizers of the entrance fee. The beach belongs to the Villa Milocer hotel.

What to see on Milocer beach

The whole area around Milocer beach is one large and well-groomed park. It is believed that this park was the residence of the Karađorđević royal family. Be sure to take a walk along the shady alleys, feel the aroma of the sea air with subtle notes of pine needles and relax in the shade of olive trees. Milocer Park is the main attraction, which is available for free.

300 meters from Milocer is the famous island-hotel Sveti Stefan, this is another attraction that you can and should walk to take a look.

Road from Milocer beach to Sveti Stefan island

During the restoration, the outer walls of the buildings were left unchanged, and everything inside was rebuilt to the highest standards, now this is the most expensive tourist accommodation in Montenegro (rooms from 1,000 Euros per day, you need to book in advance).

There are only 80 houses on the island. Of these, only 50 are intended exclusively for tourists, they are equipped with rooms of different comfort. On the territory of Sveti Stefan there are restaurants, three churches, a tennis court, an art gallery, swimming pools and other tourist buildings.

What to see in Sveti Stefan

The first thing that deserves your attention is the island of Sveti Stefan itself, but tourists are not allowed on it. How to be? If you have a strong desire to wander through the narrow streets of this island hotel, then there are several budget options.

  • ordering a table in a restaurant is the easiest way, you should remember about the order of prices (light breakfast from 100 Euros) and advance reservation of a table;
  • ordering an excursion is the most budgetary way to see the island, the excursion costs 20 Euros, it is carried out by appointment;
  • If 20 Euro for an hour excursion is too expensive for you, paragliding is scary, then you can look at Sveti Stefan from the free beach.

    Take a walk in Milocer Park, this is another completely free entertainment that tourists can afford.

    Climb up to the observation deck and take some photos of the island. However, the photo session can be combined with the way back to Budva, as the best observation deck is located right on the Jadransky path.

    The road from the resort of Sveti Stefan to Budva

    After this excursion, you can return to Budva on foot, but I assume that you are tired and for this reason I will tell you how and where you can find transport to Budva.

    Public buses run from Budva to the resort of Sveti Stefan (the price to Budva is 1.5 Euro). You can take the bus both in the village itself and at the bus stop on the Jadran way. There is a timetable at the bus stop, although buses run every 15 minutes during the tourist season.

    You can use a taxi, prices can be completely different, I do not recommend paying more than 10 Euros.

    At the peak of the tourist season, it is possible to get to Budva by sea. I saw timetables and prices in boats, but I never used this method myself.

    The easiest and fastest option is to go to the Jadran route and wait for the bus there, there are several reasons for this. The fact is that not all buses going to Budva stop at the village of Sveti Stefan itself, so you can wait in the village for a long time. While at the stop (on the Jadran route) you will be picked up by any bus going to Budva (from Bar, from Petrovac, from Podgorica, etc.).

    There is a high probability that while waiting for the bus, you will receive offers from taxi drivers who go to Budva. In order not to go empty, they can offer a good price. I had the experience of driving a silver Mercedes from Sveti Stefan to Budva for 2 Euros, the price is purely symbolic.

    Enjoy your walk and bright impressions!
