We took the Platinum number and did not regret it, because. very close to the beach, there is a separate area on the beach and security makes sure that only those living in these rooms use this area, then security does not let the merchants go there and there were always free sunbeds in the shade. (By the way, the sunbeds here are more comfortable and at a sufficient distance from each other, unlike the other hours). There are also waiters on the beach (in the Platinum zone), it seems that this is superfluous. the bar is nearby, but in the heat it's not very pleasant to stand in line. I don’t know where the reviews about old and dirty towels come from, everything was snow-white and soft, both in the room and on the beach. The rooms are nice and clean, the grounds and the pools too. Cleaning is good, everything replenished every day, as expected. Only in the room on the 5th day it became very damp and then a fungus formed on the dress that hung in the closet. Maybe we are to blame, because. opened the balcony and everything immediately became wet. Service does not depend on tips, we checked, because we were able to exchange money for tips only on the third day and without them everything was fine. I would especially like to mention the girl Margarita (the waiter on the beach), she is very attentive, smiling, good-natured and works very quickly. The food is delicious, but about the same. As mentioned earlier, there is almost no seafood. The alcohol is good, and the best tequila (don julio), Hennessy cognac, maybe something else, I write about what I know. The only thing that was not very pleasant: we were given a room with two beds, and there were three of us and we asked to be changed to a room with a very large bed. It was hard to talk to the young man at the reception (Platinum Sunset), even though we don't know much English, but he spoke very quickly and with his Spanish accent. We were offered a replacement room after 4 days, but because. all things were dismantled, then we refused and agreed that we would move the beds and lay 1 mattress. As a result, they only moved the beds. And then the tourists told us that they still provide separate beds on wheels for children, but we were not offered. SEA: In the early days: beautiful, shallow, at the buoys I (height 160) up to my shoulders. We knew about it and it suited us. child learns to swim. We bought everyone big circles and swam on the waves, they were often. My daughter also conquered the waves on the board and was completely delighted. On the 5th day: a lot of algae washed up, 6-7 meters into the sea from the shore, everything was in them. The next day they began to decompose. In the reviews, I read about the smell on the beach, but I did not think that it was so strong. The stench was terrible, it smelled of rotten fish. We were in the pool that day, and the next day we went to Shkaret Park, from the hotel it takes 40 minutes by taxi for $ 30. After 2 days, the smell went away, but the water turned brown. We swam, they say it is very useful. By the way, the algae is not removed, the tractor drove several times, but it is not clear why. And algae were everywhere, the guys I knew went to Cancun, and there were algae. The problem with algae began in 2015, before that they were, but in a different quantity, and now how lucky (according to the guide). BEACH: very clean, white sand, but a lot of small twigs, although they are removed. Good umbrellas, good sunbeds, many sunbeds in the shade, in the general part of the beach they occupy in the morning, but not in the Platinum zone, I came a couple of times at 8 o'clock everything was free. ANIMALS: a lot of lovely coats, but you have to be careful, because they can snatch food when you feed them. Monkeys come to the bridge at about 9-20, but we never met them. And iguanas came across. Excursions: were in Shkaret and on excursions to the cities of Maya. I advise everyone, I will leave reviews separately. IN SUMMARY: I advise the hotel, very worthy, it is better not to count on the sea, and just in case, plan trips, there is something to see in Mexico.…

The fifth day in our program began with an inspection of the Grand Riviera / Sunset Princess 5 * hotel complex, which is part of the Princess Hotels & Resorts group.

It should be noted that almost daily trips to the Riviera Maya have already become common for us, about an hour's journey can be used in different ways.

The Princess complex is located approximately in the middle of the Riviera Maya tourist area. 50 kilometers from Cancun. And about ten kilometers to the small town of Playa del Carmen.

The complex consists of two hotels: Grand Riviera Princess and Grand Sunset Princess. They are practically the same - almost a mirror image of each other. Low three-story buildings. The hotel was built in 2007, so it looks pretty good!

A typical complex for the Riviera Maya. That is, a large territory, a lot of greenery, a lot of pools, there is a small river crossing the territory, many different animals, a large and relatively clean beach, conventionally divided into several zones, such as platinum and ordinary.

Let me tell you about one feature of this complex. If you look closely at the plan, you will notice that the complex is elongated, but not along the beach, but perpendicular to the sea, that is, the beach strip itself is rather narrow.

The sea, as I said, is characteristic of the Riviera Maya - calm, without any special waves.

But there are complaints from vacationers about stones and algae.

As always, I conducted a survey among “ours”.

So, the general opinion that it is better to take platinum rooms (suites) is in both hotels (but it is better in Sunset, since construction is underway near the Riviera and noise is heard in the rooms facing “outside”).

In addition to their club lounge (I recommend!) Platinum rooms have a separate VIP area on the beach, where the entrance to the sea seems to be cleaner and there are no algae.

In addition, “platinum” is poured better. And the food is better too.

Now for the numbers. The hotel was packed to capacity, it was difficult to find only one free room, and even then, after dinner it had to be populated! In general, I was simply amazed, almost all the hotels were completely filled, there were cases when there was not even A SINGLE free room!

For 6 years, the number of rooms has worn out: the Jacuzzi on the balcony are shabby! Bed linen with small holes and stains (((Previously, there were security guards on the private beach of Platinum and did not let street sellers inside, now the guards are still there, but local Mexicans calmly walk between the sunbeds and sell every little thing, thereby making the guests nervous for the safety of personal of things!

This is not the first time we have stayed at this hotel! The first one was 6 years ago! Both times we took the Platinum room. The hotel area is huge and very green, many animals (nose) A huge plus of this hotel is the STAFF, very friendly, helpful and smiling people! Restaurant service and housekeeping are top notch! Very comfortable bed! Breakfasts and lunches are good, but in 10 days it gets boring (the food is the same every day) a lot of fruit! Dinner is more varied, food selection is great!

We visited the hotel for the second time, the first time in November 2011. Then we really liked it, because it was the first stay and we have not seen such a service, everything was amazing. But time passed, we gained experience, and when we arrived at the hotel for the second time, there was already much that was not surprising - we must make allowances for this. It seemed that the hotel passed a little, in small things. For example, we had a room with a view of the Laguna, in a villa. For these rooms there is a separate closed area with swimming pools and sunbathing cabins. In 2011, these cabins were occupied as they were occupied, and now they must be reserved in advance for the next day. Maybe it has something to do with the season, I don't know. Secondly, in this room, one free massage was included in the stay. This time it was only available in the morning, at 8 or 9 o'clock. But we got it - everything is ok. Well, a little about alcohol. There used to be more good cocktails available. This time, some cocktails, in principle, were not made, for example, B-52 was not poured anywhere for us (. Maybe the crisis has touched. Well, and the sea. It is worth absolutely nothing compared to Cancun. But the price, respectively, is in this the hotel is smaller on average compared to Cancun.Otherwise, everything seems to be the same as in 2011. But something surprised me - about this in the "liked" section.

The Japanese restaurant hosts a cooking show, teppanyaki. Very exciting, I recommend to visit (pre-book a visit there). It was also the first time we saw a foam disco on the beach. Food is good and lots of choice. Once there was sushi. Everything else is good, just like the first time in 2011.

The Internet is not stable, access is limited in the territory. If your room is in the common area overlooking the pool - a disaster, Americans drink and yell at the pool bar from morning to evening.

Rest from 30.12 to 10.01 2018. We booked through booking, everything is ok, we arrived a day later, which the reception warned about - a refund, no compensation was offered. We lived in a villa, it is better to take the second floor. Everything is clean, although the hotel is not new, the cleaning is on the level, the recreation area for the villas is excellent, the beach is not in a hurry - 10 minutes. The hotel has living creatures - coatis, iguanas, turtles swim under the bridge on the way to the chillout, a large crocodile lives and you can see his children :))) Food is at the level, but in 2 public restaurants. There are 8 restaurants by appointment for lunch (dinner for us) - we visited 4, including fish, the only thing we liked was Mama Mia, Italian, and that because they cooked super grilled shrimp for us (off the menu). In the rest, despite ordering from the menu - a typical set of dishes, and everything can be obtained in buffet restaurants. With drinks, if you are with a platinum bracelet or a villa - there are no problems everywhere, any quality. There are a lot of people along the beach, there is a platinum zone with a concierge (brings a towel, drinks on order from the bar), I didn’t like the sea - shallow, you go on foot to the restrictive buoys and there - up to your chest. The water was dirty, it was windy, the surf was garbage. abstracted, floated along the buoys. For excursions - it is worth going to Chichen Itza. Excursions were bought in Russian from Russian guides at the hotel, more expensive than they sell to the British, etc. A complete scam from the Blue Caribe company, our compatriots, take 30-40% more expensive, an excursion to the village and to the shaman - Temascal - is a complete no, especially with taking into account the cost - $ 120 per person (and this is at a discount!). You can go to Playa del Carmen by shuttle from the hotel - there and back for 100 meks.dollars. - walk along Fifth Avenue, tequila is 2 times cheaper to buy in a supermarket - 5 minutes from the tourist street. Overall a good stay, especially if it's your first time in the region.
