The Greenland Ice Canyon is a cold but alluring attraction in the world. The icy river carries cold and surprisingly clear water from ancient glaciers straight into the arms of the ocean, forming fantastic canyons on its way, which the legendary Arizona Wave.

Greenland is the largest island on our planet, most of which lies above the Arctic Circle. Officially part of Denmark and is its autonomous unit. More than 80% of the island's area is covered with snow and ice. True, in recent times, humanity has actively taken up the destruction of its home, and as a result, the average temperature on Earth is rising. Due to warming (I don’t know Global or Local), the Greenland ice sheet began to melt. Melt water, striving for the ocean, makes channels of incredible beauty in the ice. Many amazing rivers are formed in the ice sheet, but the most mesmerizing is the Ice Canyon.

Ice Canyon on the map

  • it makes no sense to write geographical coordinates, since the channel can change. The canyon is said to be right in the heart of Greenland and can only be reached by dog sled. To be honest, I was not able to find the coordinates and look at the Ice Canyon from space. If you have them, please share.
  • the nearest city and concurrently the capital of Greenland is Nuuk, from here the journey to the Canyon begins
  • the depth of the canyon sometimes reaches 40 meters (and this is the height of a 12-storey building)

Nature is the best artist. And the Ice Canyon is a vivid confirmation of this.

Travelers, tired of the tropics and palm trees with all-inclusive hotels, are increasingly striving to get into the unique and pristine corners of our planet. Of course, they do not miss the opportunity to visit Greenland in general and see the Ice Canyon in particular. It is impossible not to visit one of the most beautiful and recognizable places on the planet.

But do not think that all of Greenland is just snow, ice and a lifeless desert. The nature of these places is very diverse, picturesque and has not yet been greatly exhausted by man. Now more and more tourists want to visit Greenland, and a lot of entertainment is offered for them:

  • Kayaking (travels on traditional Greenlandic boats)
