The fact that the city stands on the water already makes it special, unlike any other. In addition, there is also something to see and enjoy here.

Very carefully you should examine San Marco - the main square of Venice. All the buildings on it are unique, so if you have time, you should try to examine this place as carefully as possible and fix it not only in memory, but also in photographs.

St. Mark's Cathedral conquers with its charm and grace - it is simply impossible to look away. It is a place of pilgrimage and a Christian shrine.

The Doge's Palace will surprise you with unrealism and grandeur, and the church of Santa Maria del Rosario will enchant with the splendor of its facades. The place where you can see all the lovers is the Bridge of Sighs, there is even a legend that says that a couple who kissed here will be together until the end of their days.

Beautiful Athens and magical Amsterdam

Place 3 and 4 in the top 10 beautiful European cities belongs to Athens and Amsterdam.

3rd place

Most travelers come to Athens exclusively by sea, but there is something to see here. The first thing that will attract the attention of the guests of this wonderful city is the Acropolis. This architectural monument is known all over the world, moreover, the whole of Greece is proud of this historical complex.

An interesting place is the old market, which is located at the foot of the Acropolis, once it existed not only as a place of trade, but also as the cultural heart of the city.

Fans of historical sights will be surprised by Keramikos (the ancient city), as well as the archaeological museum and the port of Piraeus, which has met the ships of merchants for over 2000 years.

Those who love panoramic views will love the beauty of Filopappou Hill, while those who like something original should visit the Monastiraki market. It is there that you can buy amazing souvenirs and gifts for relatives.

4th place

To enjoy the beauty of Amsterdam, you must first see the flower market. Only for this place you can fall in love with the city, because here you can find different flowers, the existence of which is difficult to even imagine in your head.

There are other sights, thanks to which Amsterdam attracts tourists. We are talking about Dam Square, where the Royal Palace is located, which is considered the most famous building in the city.

Amsterdam is hard to imagine without a walk through the Red Light District and a tour of the Van Gogh Museum.

From the same guys, you can watch another funny video with an overview of the standard and not so sights of Venice:

And here is a more serious video, filmed for television, about number 3 from our rating - Athens:

December 19, 2012, 21:11

Hello gossips! Recently, I was visiting my friends in the Carpathians... skiing, visiting stunningly beautiful and original Western Ukrainian cities, and even visiting St. Nicholas. In general, I got great pleasure and was absolutely fascinated by the Western Region :-) I want to introduce you to my favorite corners on this earth 1. Yaremche is a city of regional significance in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine.
This is a small cozy town on the Prut River, in the heart of the Carpathians, on the territory of the Carpathian Natural National Park and Biosphere Reserve. This is the land of the Hutsuls. Ideally clean air and water, never knowing industrial waste, the aroma of endless coniferous forests and healthy natural food can give a heroic. In the 19th century it was a favorite vacation spot for wealthy people from Poland and Austria-Hungary.
2. Mukachevo - a city of regional subordination in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine Rest in Mukachevo attracts tourists primarily with an abundance of historical and architectural monuments. The ancient building of the Transcarpathian State Russian Drama Theatre, the St. Nicholas Convent, the Greek Catholic monastery of St. Basil the Great, the branch of the Catholic monastery of the Eastern Vicariate of the male Dominican Order in Ukraine, Palanok Castle are especially popular. The atmosphere of the city is saturated with history and invites you to leisurely walks along the old streets.
3. Ivano-Frankivsk - - the administrative center of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, a significant economic and cultural center in the west of Ukraine.
Ivano-Frankivsk is a beautiful ancient city with a long history, located between Nadvirnianska and Solotvynska Bistritsy, in front of the Carpathians. Rest in Ivano-Frankivsk is mainly chosen by tourists who have already fallen in love with Lviv, Prague and other cities with an aristocratic character and extensive history. Thanks to French and Italian architects, the city has many beautiful buildings in the Renaissance style, medieval castles and temples - representatives of the Baroque.

4. Lviv - a city of regional subordination in Ukraine, the regional center of the Lviv region
Lviv is the eternal city of the Ukrainian-Polish borderlands, where traditions, cultures and languages have been mixed for centuries. So, as a result of mutual borrowings, at the end of the 19th century in the urban environment, "Lvivska govirka" was formed - a dialect formed as a result of mixing Ukrainian and Polish languages with interspersed German and Jewish vocabulary. It is in this language that the inhabitants of the Lviv region communicate. It is believed that the inhabitants of Lviv have right-wing views, and the city is a "stronghold of nationalism." Majestic, unique architecture, narrow medieval streets, original restaurants... There is a lot of different information about Lviv, often contradictory, but one thing is certain: this city is big, old and beautiful so much that it looks like an open-air museum of architecture. Moreover, you don’t need to look for beautiful views here, Lviv is one of those cities where it is interesting in any nook and cranny, and here’s why: throughout its existence, Lviv was part of several European countries. The memory of those times lives in his houses...

5. Uzhgorod - a city in the west of Ukraine, the administrative center of the Transcarpathian region.
Uzhgorod is truly a "Window to Europe": it is rightfully considered one of the most important Ukrainian and European historical centers, known far beyond the Old World. Throughout its more than a thousand-year history, Uzhgorod has changed hands more than once, changing its rulers and "masters". The almost six hundred years of the presence of the Hungarians especially affected the architectural appearance of the city - many streets and streets of Uzhgorod are very similar to the residential quarters of the Hungarian Debrecen or Budapest: picturesque houses of two or three floors, retaining medieval ornaments on their walls. In this ancient European city there is a linden alley, which is the longest in Europe, as well as magnificent medieval castles and cathedrals, and many other attractions.
6. Chernivtsi - a city in western Ukraine, 40 km north of the Romanian border, on the right bank of the Prut River, the administrative center of the Chernivtsi region. Chernivtsi has long been inhabited by different peoples - Ukrainians, Romanians, Austrians, Armenians, Jews. But this only benefited the architectural appearance of the city. For centuries, living nearby, different peoples - over the centuries - have forged something that cannot be taken away, cannot be taken out and cannot be banned. This is the spirit of Chernivtsi, which can only be felt on the streets of this city.
7. Lutsk - a city in the west of Ukraine, the administrative center of the Volyn region. One of the oldest cities in Ukraine. The first written mention dates back to 1085. Lutsk is a beautiful historical city, which is already about 925 years old!! This city has an interesting history, many times it was ruined, destroyed, conquered, and rebuilt again. One of the most important buildings, which is already over 800 years old, is Lutsk Castle (also known as Lubart's Castle), located on a hill near the Styr River. Lutsk is an ideal place for those who want to go somewhere for the weekend, have fun walking, eat and feel the atmosphere of antiquity.

It will be a very difficult task to explain exactly how, so it is easier to advise you to see it with your own eyes.

20. Ljubljana, Slovenia

The capitals of any country, of course, are known to the whole world, and they are the most visited cities of the state. But, for example, Europe is not only Rome, Berlin and Paris. It is also a whole series of small pretty towns, travel through which can be no less enjoyable. And maybe even more. Here is a list of small European towns that may be of interest to tourists.

Manarola, Italy

The population of this city is just over 350 people, but it is one of the most famous cities of the Cinque Terre, a national park in Italy. Manarola is famous for its scattering of rainbow-colored houses, built in the most picturesque way on the rocks near the coast, and fabulous wine. There are no cars, no traffic lights, no screeching tires. You can get to Manarola by car, but you will have to park somewhere near the city and then get there on foot.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany

The charming Bavarian mountain resort with a population of 26,000 is just an hour and a half train ride from Munich. This town was formed as a result of the merger of two ancient settlements - ancient Roman and ancient Teutonic, which were united in 1935 for the 1936 Winter Olympics. Particularly impressive is the former Partenkirchen, founded in 15 AD, with its narrow cobbled streets and Bavarian-style buildings with pastel-coloured walls frescoed with historical or religious themes.

Portree, Scotland

Portree is the largest city on the Scottish Isle of Skye and its thriving cultural center, although the town has a population of less than 2,500. Reine, Norway

Less than 250 people live in this tiny fishing village on the picturesque island of Moskenesøy, but the town is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful in Norway. Located north of the Arctic Circle, the city is a sapphire bay, mesmerizing northern lights, breathtaking mountains and fjords. Many of the bright red rorbuers, or fishermen's houses, have been converted into cozy cottages overlooking the Norwegian Sea - perfect for a couple of nights.

Colmar, France

The history of the town with a population of 67,000 dates back to the 9th century. Even in old sources, this city is often referred to as "Little Venice" because of its many canals. This ancient Alsatian village is also considered the region's wine capital, and German and French influences will become apparent as you stroll through the medieval-flavoured streets: bakeries offer kugelhopfs and croissants, and sauerkraut and foie gras can be tasted in cafes. In architecture - the same mix: from French neo-Baroque to German Gothic.

Marsaxlokk, Malta

The bustling trading port of Marsaxlokk was founded in 900 BC when the Phoenicians first landed in Malta. Today, this picturesque town with a population of 3,200 is the island nation's main supplier of fish in the Mediterranean. The uniqueness of the town lies in the fact that it has no modern buildings - only traditional fish markets, old houses and brightly decorated luzzu fishing boats.

Bled, Slovenia

Protected by majestic mountains, the town of Bled was founded in 1004. The Holy Roman Emperor liked Bled so much that he even gave it to the Bishop of Brixen. Bled Castle, the main attraction of the town with a population of 5 thousand people, is located on an island in the center of the picturesque Lake Bled with glacial blue waters.

Hallstatt, Austria

With less than 1,000 inhabitants, Hallstatt is one of the oldest settlements in Austria. It was founded in 5000 BC for salt miners in the mountains. The city on the shores of Lake Hallstatt has continuously flourished thanks to this work - it still has salt mines, but today they are more of a tourist attraction, and the whole city has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is insanely beautiful, its square is especially good, surrounded by buildings entwined with ivy.

Annecy, France

This is one of the most beautiful and romantic places on earth. Maybe even more beautiful here than in the stunningly majestic French Alps that surround the city. Located 35 km from Geneva, the city of 51,000 people is famous for the small canals stretching through the city from the blue glittering Lake Annecy, which make the city look like Venice. Among the main attractions of Annecy is the Island Palace, a picturesque 12th-century castle built right in the middle of one of the canals.

Albarracin, Spain

Albarracín is a well-preserved medieval town in northern Spain with a history dating back to the 11th century. The rock paintings in the caves of the Albarracín Cultural Park are one of the most important evidences of Levantine prehistoric art, and the ancient fortifications with winding paths, narrow lanes, ancient stone towers, castles and chapels are also impressive. A trip to Albarracin seems to take you back to the Middle Ages.

Paris, London, Rome, Madrid - these cities are famous all over the world and attract millions of tourists every year. At the same time, there are no less beautiful and wonderful cities in Europe, which, although not so famous, do not lose their attractiveness for travel because of this. That is why the American website BudgetTravel has compiled a list of the ten most beautiful small towns in Europe. Today we will introduce you to the first five that made this list.

Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic

One of the oldest towns in the Czech Republic, Český Krumlov is located in South Bohemia, south of the Blanski Forest, on a bend in the Vltava River. The main attraction of this medieval town is the ancient Krumlov Castle, the first mention of which is found in a knight's ballad dating back to the 13th century. The narrow, cobblestone streets of the city resemble an intricate labyrinth that stretches along quaint houses typical of the Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance periods. In order not to get lost in this labyrinth, the high tower of the Castle can serve as a guide. The town is filled with art galleries, cozy cafes and boarding houses offering overnight stays. This is a city of lovers and newlyweds with a unique romantic atmosphere.

One of the best ways to see Cesky Krumlov (Český Krumlov) is to ride down the Vltava on a wooden raft (450 CZK or €17.80; en.ceskykrumlov-info.cz).

Palmanova, Italy

The fortified city of Palmanova is located in the province of Udine, near the Slovenian border and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city and fortress were created in 1593 in honor of the victory of the Venetians over the Turks. The architects specifically planned to design Palmanova so that it had the shape of a regular nine-terminal star. If you look at the city from above, its structure and the pronounced contours of straight streets create a distinct image of a snowflake. Nearby, the vineyard valleys stretching to the Adriatic Sea provide this place with high-quality Chardonnay, while local waters supply the city with mullet, sea bass and other delicious fish. If you are going to visit one of the restaurants in Palmanova, look out for the presence of a green branch of ivy or Frasca near the entrance - a guarantee that here you can taste traditional regional dishes (for example, the Venetian baccalà, made from dry salted cod).

This city is especially beautiful at night, in the light of lights.

How to get there: Palmanova is located 115 km northeast of Venice and 50 km northwest of Trieste. The city can be reached by car along the A4, A23 and highway 352, or by train from Trieste on a direct flight ($8.00), and from Venice from Santa Lucia station with a change at Cervignano-Aquileia-Grado station ($15) (italiarail.com).

Bibury, UK

The town of Bibury is located on the River Colne in the rolling limestone region of the Cotswolds, in the west-central part of England. English writer and artist William Morris called it the most beautiful village in England, which is famous for its unique views for watercolor landscapes. Located on Arlington Row, honey-colored cottages built in the 14th century from local oolite shell rock are Biburi's must-see relics. Among the main attractions is the Saxon church of St. Mary, mentioned in chronicles since the 12th century, as well as a fishing farm founded in 1902 and still operating today.

How to get there: The nearest railway station is 20 km from Bibury in Kemble. Trains depart daily from Paddington Station in London. Travel time: 80 minutes (nationalrail.co.uk; round trip from £29).

An alternative way is to take a bus from London to Cirencester, 10 kilometers away (nationalexpress.com; from £24 round trip).

Public transport has no connection with Biburi, but taxis go here, and local hotels often organize transfers for their visitors.

Binn, Switzerland

Many years ago, the inhabitants of this small town of 145 people decided to suspend all construction in it, leaving the surrounding area as a park. Now, instead of the luxurious ski resorts and high-speed highways typical of southwestern Switzerland, thanks to Binn, you can be transported to a wonderful alpine corner where time has stopped. Gravel lanes meandering between well-groomed pine chalets with geranium flower pots placed in the windows, and an old 16th-century bridge where residents walk or use goats instead of cars are clear indications of easy village life.

If you go up the Binna River, you can see a fabulous picture of a real alpine meadow. It will be ideal to have a picnic with local wine and raclette cheese under the ringing of bells coming from high mountain pastures. And if you cross the bridge and go up the mountain path, you can go to the Imfeld restaurant, which is a wooden chalet with a cozy living room and a panoramic terrace overlooking the Alps. The restaurant is located at an altitude of 4983 meters. Here, it would be a good idea to enjoy fresh trout or the institution's specialty - raw beef, seasoned with spices and herbs, and left for a month and a half to dry in the cellar.

How to get there: Due to the remoteness of the town from civilization, a trip to Binn (Binn) from major cities in Switzerland is difficult. To get here from Zurich, you need to make two transfers on PostBus buses. Travel time will be a little over three hours (
