Day 1 went great. We wandered around the city, sat in a cafe, lay on the sand, took a swim a couple of times and ran around with a camera like real paparazzi. At 7:00 p.m. their time, we had dinner as planned. They cook amazingly, the kitchen masters really know their stuff. I especially liked the rice with octopuses for which I ran with a supplement. After a hearty dinner and a flight, we still decided to relax a little. After a rest, we decided to walk around the city again and realized that in the evening the city comes to life, although in the afternoon the streets of the city were almost empty. During the walk, we decided to go to a cafe and celebrate our arrival by drinking a couple of glasses of wine and eating something delicious. In the end, we ordered a medium pizza. When the waiter brought this pizza to us, I was a bit confused as the Greek medium pizza was the size of a huge Russian one. Besides that, it's amazingly delicious. So the day passed and we, tired, but very contented, went to bed.

On the 2nd day, we decided that we would not sit too long on the sand, but would ride somewhere with the breeze. And having rented a quad bike from COSMOS (you need our Russian driver's license of category B), we set off. A map of the peninsula with roads was included in the kit. So my wife and I decided to go around the peninsula, visiting all sorts of beaches in between. The beaches, I will tell you, are not sandy, as we were told in the tour company, but pebbly, but still this did not stop us from looking for beautiful places. We found these beautiful places in abundance. It makes no sense to write a lot about this, since we took more than 300 photos just for this day. And we passed such cities: Pefkohori, Paliouri, Ag. Paraskevi, Nea Skioni reached the Kalandras Cape lighthouse and along the same path, just turning at Nea Skioni, we drove back through the mountains to the city of Hanioti, where we respectively lived. A trip on a quad bike cost us 40 euros, of which 30 is the rent of a quad, 10 is fuel. For those who travel: it is better not to take water with you, but to buy it in stores along the way, since it can boil in a couple of hours. A map, it’s better to buy a detailed one, believe me, it will come in handy for you, and finally anoint yourself with oil from sunburn, I can’t say about everything, but my hands burned out.

3,4,5 days we spent on the beach and hiking in souvenir shops. I’ll tell you right away that there is no point in buying any alcohol, even in DUTY FREE, firstly, it’s still not enough, and secondly, ALCOHOL COSTS CHEAPER THAN IN DUTIK in Greece. But with cigarettes it will be difficult, so buy from us. I advise you to go to the confectionery and buy sweets. I have never tasted such delicious cakes! If you are traveling with children, then be prepared to go there every day. The store is located on the main road towards the city of Polychrono. Souvenir shops close around 14:00 and do not open until 16:00.

At prices like this: Beer-1 euro, Whiskey 0.7 Chivas Regal-25 euros, Champagne Martini ASTI-10 euros. You can have a full meal for 13-15 euros for two. Froppe coffee and Greek coffee for 1.5 euros, but they are not for everybody. I advise the Greek loaf, it costs 1-1.5 euros. Everything you need to buy in the supermarket. Shops in the central square are expensive, the same Chivas costs 35-40 euros.

Day 6 we decided to go to the meteors (Excursion) 6-hour bus ride 80 euros price per one. But it was all worth it. There are no words, only emotions.

Day 7 Beach, sand, champagne and water.

On the 8th day, we decided to see what a turtle lake is and taking a quadric in the same office, we again decided to go in search of beautiful and unusual places. On the way, we decided to stop by the chapel, of which there are very, very many in every city. But the most beautiful thing is that these chapels are not only in cities, but also in the mountains. Yes, in the mountains. So, having searched for about 4 hours for the possible location of the turtle lake, we never found it and were upset and went back, but on the way we saw an information board where 3 different directions were drawn. In the end, we went to the farthest. After another hour of searching, we finally got to it. The lake is the size of a pond in the country and at first we did not see turtles, but after feeding one, we suddenly saw several ten turtles. After rinsing our face from the beating key nearby, we moved home.

On the 9th day we decided to rent a car. We ordered a CITROEN C3 with a 1.2 engine, this is very important because their fuel prices are an order of magnitude higher. 1 liter of the 95th costs 1.5 euros. So we got into the car and drove to the neighboring peninsula with the beautiful name of SITONIA. Having traveled the whole island, driving into all the beautiful bays and taking pictures wherever we wanted, we drove home, but on the way we decided to go to the Church of St. Nicholas. When we arrived at the place, we were upset because it was closed for repairs. For those who will be renting a car: 1-Ask if the hotel has connections with rental companies. Since this will save you from unnecessary expenses. 2-take a car with the smallest engine displacement to save on gasoline. 3-buy a map (what I mentioned above), 4th, I don’t know how it is on other peninsulas, but on Kasandra and Sithonia, gas stations do not work around the clock, but from 6:00 to 20:00. The entire trip of 350 kilometers cost me 60 euros. 40 euros for renting a Citroen, 20 euros for refueling for 350 km.

OK it's all over Now. If you have any questions, be sure to write, how I can help.

Chanioti is a resort village located on the Kassandra peninsula, about 100 km from Thessaloniki. In August, there is a full house here - during the day the beach is packed to capacity, and in the evening crowds of vacationers come out into the city.

In the village of Chanioti, Greece // evguuu.livejournal.com

Let's start the review from the beach.

It is quite narrow, small pebbles get very hot in the sun. The number of cigarette butts per square meter can amaze even the regulars of domestic resorts. The entrance to the water is sometimes complicated by the presence of large stones overgrown with algae. Sea urchins can be found at the bottom, so it is better to watch your step or use rubber slippers. A pair of sun loungers and a sun umbrella are offered for 6-7 euros for the whole day. Water bike rental - 10 euros per hour. Vendors roam the beach offering pies and corn, massages, or fake sunglasses and other knick-knacks. But all these shortcomings are compensated by the presence of a clean, warm and calm sea.

The embankment is unremarkable and practically undeveloped - just a pedestrian road along the beach.

The bed of the river that dried up in summer is used as a highway.

Perhaps the most beautiful house in Hanioti.

The central square is empty during the day - it's siesta time, the temperature is under 40 degrees Celsius in the shade.

// evguuu.livejournal.com

In the evening, it's a completely different matter. All overlook the promenade to the central streets of the village.

There is nothing to do here during the day.

A couple of years ago, bus tours to Greece appeared on our tourist market, with excursions to European cities. The cost of such a tour was very captivating (only 385 €), and the opportunity to visit several countries at a time, and even plunge into the sea. I have long dreamed of visiting Greece and now the stars have aligned! Vacation was scheduled for mid-September. And we went to it with the then-future husband and his parents. The tour included stops in Austria, Hungary, Serbia. I will share my impressions about these countries separately so as not to litter the space.

I have never traveled such long distances by bus before. But it turned out to be not so scary and very exciting. I will not describe in detail our long journey. We drove for about four days, and crossed the border between Bulgaria and Greece early in the morning.

Naturally, I couldn't close my eyes. Outside the window floated endless fields and olive groves. Never seen olive trees before. And here in such numbers.

Our path lay on the Halkidiki peninsula, in the village of Chanioti. This is the northern part of Greece. The peninsula of Chalkidiki has three "fingers". It is also called "Poseidon's trident". The first finger is Cassandra, the second is Sithonia, the third is Athos. Our village was on Kassandra.

HANIOTI VILLAGE, HALKIDIKI-KASSANDRA P-OV

A few words about the village. The village is small in size.

But you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay here. Hotels are expensive and budget. Lots of taverns and bars. But there is not a single disco, the nearest one is in the village of Kallithea.

There is a large grocery store, several car rental agencies. There is a bus stop, which allows you to independently ride through other villages of the coast. There is a representative office of Mouzenidis Travel, where you can take any excursion.

In the evening, the village comes to life, in the central square such a fountain lights up:

Having passed Thessaloniki, it was obvious that the destination was very close. The road continued along the coast. And, praise the Greek Gods, what picturesque views opened before us. Crystal clear Aegean Sea combined with coniferous forests, sandy beaches, secluded coves. Just imagine all this beauty!

Since our trip was supposed to be budget, the hotel was also budget. But! Pretty decent hotel (no cockroaches) with modest rooms and great food! And his name Hanioti Grand Victoria 3* ().

The cost of our tour included breakfasts and dinners . Therefore, the next point of my review will be about nutrition.

FOOD IN GREECE.

We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant of our hotel. If you can call it a restaurant, it looked more like a canteen. We dined exclusively in Greek taverns located in our village. You can't put into words how delicious Greek cuisine is!

There are a lot of taverns, for every taste and color. Here are some examples prices:

We always went to different places to try everything. The portions are very big! We often took one for two. On average, for a dinner for two, it took us 12-15 €, this is the first, second, and beer on top.

What I advise you to definitely try in a Greek tavern:

  • This is the number one dish in Greece. Casserole of eggplant, potatoes, minced meat and bechamel sauce. I ate it there in a day. I tried to cook at home, but it doesn't work. I need to go back to Greece

  • Tzatziki (or Tzatziki). This sauce is made from Greek yogurt, fresh cucumbers, garlic and dill. Overeating! In the photo on the left.

  • Suzukakya (you will laugh at the name). These are oblong minced meat patties in tomato wine sauce.
  • Pastizio. The dish was served in a clay pot. This is a casserole of pasta, meat and bechamel sauce.

  • Bugatsa. This is a traditional Greek puff pastry. The filling can be with custard, with cheese, with meat. We bought it not in a tavern, but in stalls with fresh pastries, and took it with us to the beach.
  • Seafood. There are a huge number of them. We took both squids and a whole tray with shrimps, octopuses, mussels.

  • Corn. Tastier than Greek corn, I have never eaten anything in my life. Sweet, juicy, sold on the beach. It cost 1€.
  • Frappe. And finally, I advise you to refresh yourself with a Greek coffee drink, which is served cold.

There was a supermarket in our village, where you could also take something for a snack. There were fruit stalls. I will not say that fruit prices were low. Despite the fact that September is the end of the tourist season.

BEACHES ON KASSANDRA.

In the village the beaches are shallow small pebble. The entrance to the sea is also pebbly. But it's even useful, walking barefoot on pebbles is cooler than any massage.

From the hotel Grandotel Hanioti 4 * the beach strip is narrow, and the farther, the wider it is.

The beaches are equipped. But sunbeds and umbrellas for an additional fee. Even in Greece they practice such a system, if there is a bar on the beach, you buy something to drink there (Pepsi / Cola / coffee / beer) and get sunbed and umbrella for free .

The sea is the cleanest here! You can see every pebble, every fish, even at a depth. And what a color! Intense turquoise! Just a live picture!

Pebbles on Cassandra are not everywhere! We also went to the village of Kallithea. There is a sandy beach. Fairly wide.

WHAT TO SEE IN MAINLAND GREECE.

  • In Greece, it is very popular among tourists to take car rental and independently travel around the picturesque coves located along the coast. We did not take a car for the reason that we had only 7 days and we wanted to spend them lying on the shores of the Aegean Sea. But for the future, we asked about the cost of this service.

  • Meteora. Halfway to Greece, I was 100% sure that I would visit. This is such a miracle, created by the joint efforts of nature and human hands, that it is a sin not to visit him. Who does not know, Meteors are Orthodox monasteries located on tall rocks. The tour cost 50€/person.

  • Transport links work well in Halkidiki. There was a stop near our hotel, with a schedule in Greek and Russian. Therefore, one day we decided to take a ride to the neighboring village of Kallithea. He is bigger than Hanioti. There is a more active nightlife, there are clubs.

We spent the whole day there. Didn't miss the beach either. I mentioned it above.

In the evening they returned in exactly the same way. By the way, the final stop at this bus is Thessaloniki. Those who wish can go there on their own.

It's a long walk, about an hour. The higher, the more beautiful the views.

Along the way, you will come across a small chapel.

Don't forget to bring treats for the turtles! Along the way there will be signs with the same inscription. Follow them. The lake itself is small, but its inhabitants are impressive. There are so many of them!

We rested in Greece from July 31 to August 14 for the first time (4 adults and 1 child of two years). TO - Vilar, airline - Yamal, tour - Hanioti (15 days, 14 nights).
ABOUT YAMAL AIRLINE
Departure from Roschino airport (Tyumen) took place without delay. The flight was a day trip, duration - approximately 5 hours. The plane was in good condition, the stewards were attentive. We got tickets near the emergency exit, where, according to the rules of air travel, accommodation with children is prohibited. So we were transferred to another row without any problems. Blankets were given out in the cabin, lunch consisted of three courses to choose from (the products were fresh, non-alcoholic drinks).
The return flight from Macedonia Airport (Thessaloniki) was delayed by about an hour. The stewards attributed the delay to bureaucratic red tape at Thessaloniki Airport. The plane was in order, the stewards were adequate, they gave out blankets, the food was fresh (3 dishes to choose from, drinks were offered including Greek wines - white and red, for some reason there was no tomato juice).
ABOUT THE TOUR OPERATOR VILAR
We purchased tickets 10 days before departure. A week later, the visas were ready. Before departure at the airport at the counter "Vilar" we received a folder with documents. At the exit from Thessaloniki airport, we were met by a company representative, escorted to the Vilara counter, where we were given booklets describing excursions (prices were not indicated), and told which bus we should take. While we were driving to the hotel, the accompanying guide Natasha told us a little about Greece, about excursions, and also informed us about the working hours of the hotel guide (daily from 9 to 12 and from 18 to 21). Near the hotel we were met by the hotel guide Katerina. She showed us where the reception is located, and disappeared in an unknown direction, without even explaining to us where the dining room is, how to get to the beach, when and where the meeting will take place. In the evening, we nevertheless found Katerina. She refused to provide a printout with prices for excursions and more detailed information, said: "Something will interest you - ask." Very often, her words were at odds with the information indicated in the booklets issued or told by Natasha. At the same time, Katerina said that you should not listen to Natasha (she made up everything), and the booklets were outdated. She responded reluctantly to questions not related to the excursions she was selling, with obvious irritation, often distorting information. In the evening, the day before departure, she gave incorrect information about the time and place of departure. On the morning of departure, she didn't even show up. A representative of the company was traveling with us on the bus, which followed us to the airport, and told us at which counters the check-in would take place.
ABOUT HOTEL HERMES (HANIOTI)
We got this hotel through the Fortune system. Upon arrival, we were met by a representative of the hotel, Elya. It turned out that she was the only employee of the hotel (and the administrator, and the maid, and the security guard, and everything else). The hotel consists of one 3-storey building (25 standard rooms), there is no elevator. Settled in quickly. We got rooms No. 16 (2-bed) and No. 17 (3-bed for a couple with a child) on the 3rd floor. I had to carry my suitcases to the 3rd floor up a narrow spiral staircase on my own. The hotel is located on the central square of Hanioti, close to shops, taverns, cafes with live music, which close after 2-3 am. The soundproofing in the rooms is poor, so it is very noisy at night. After two sleepless nights, a couple with a child asked to change their room to a room in another hotel with a surcharge. They said it was impossible. They had to pay in full for 12 nights of accommodation in another hotel (this is 600 euros).
In a double room there are 2 narrow beds, a wardrobe with hangers, 1 bedside table, a console, an armchair, a coffee table, a mirror, a kitchenette (2 burners, a sink, an extractor hood, a mini-fridge, crockery, cutlery), combined with/ u (shower behind a curtain), TV with one Russian channel (First), air conditioning, large balcony (plastic table and 2 chairs). There is no extractor hood or any ventilation in the bathroom. The toilet flush is very noisy, but ineffective. There was a hole in the floor, covered with a grate, through which stagnant water was visible, from which an unpleasant smell came. The pressure of hot and cold water in the shower is not regulated (more precisely, it changes unexpectedly on its own), so the temperature is always unpredictable. The rooms do not have a hair dryer and shower accessories (not even soap). The air conditioner is positioned so that it blows on the bed. When not in the room, it is forbidden to turn on the air conditioning. We tried to turn it on, but when we returned, we found that the air conditioner was turned off and the balcony door was wide open, so the room was as hot as it was outside. Change of bed linen and towels - 1 time in 5 days, garbage removal - every other day, room cleaning (Elya washed the sink and made the bed) - 2 times a week, the floor was never washed. The hotel has a non-working bar (Eli's lounge). There is also a paid safe (1 euro per day) - very small (a netbook will not fit). The hotel does not have parking, dry cleaning, a breakfast room or TV viewing, internet, telephone, private beach (as stated on the sites). Meals (if included in the tour price) are arranged in the dining room of the Hanioti GrandOtel (approximately 200 meters down the street). The hotel guide Katerina sits in the same hotel, there is free wi-fi (it’s bad, especially in the evening, not all pages open, the speed is low), there is also a beach that is intended for vacationers of five hotels (Hermes, Grand Hotel, Grand Victoria, Cleopatra, Macedonia Sky), which are part of the same network. There are a lot of vacationers, so there were often not enough sunbeds. At best, for 4.5 people we managed to take 3 sunbeds. The beach worked from 7 to 19. After 19, the mattresses were removed from the sunbeds, the umbrellas were folded, the sunbeds were dragged. Towels were issued on bail (20 euros per 1 pc.) Once for the entire stay. They could be changed every other day on the beach (up to 12 only). Sunbeds for hotel guests - 3 euros per 1 sunbed (if "all inclusive", then free of charge). Sellers of all sorts of things and masseurs ply along the beach (on average 15 euros for 15 minutes of massage). The beach is coarse sand, the bottom of the sea is small pebbles at first, then large stones. The sea is clean and very salty. From living creatures - a variety of fish (some tourists even fished right next to the swimmers), small crabs, sea urchins (in crevices of large stones), once we saw a small octopus under a stone. There were no jellyfish.
Entertainment was also organized at the Hanioti GrandOtel: on Mondays - karaoke, on Wednesdays - live music, on Saturdays - Greek evening (20 euros per person). Another feature: even the all-inclusive system, the hotel does not provide lunch boxes (dry breakfasts). If you have an early departure for an excursion, then you can order the so-called early breakfast: you need to inform the reception of the departure time the day before, by this time they will prepare a plate with something at the discretion of the chef. It is forbidden to take anything out of the dining room. Therefore, if you have a check-out at 4 am, then you either have breakfast in the dining room at 3:30 am or have breakfast during a stop at your own expense. In general, food in Hanioti GrandOtel is normal. Meat (pork) every day, fresh vegetables (cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers), fruits (pears, grapes, plums, nectarines, watermelons, melons) and ice cream for dinner.
ABOUT EXCURSIONS FROM HANIOTI
Chanioti is a very small village located on the southeastern coast of the Kassandra peninsula (1.5-2 hours to Thessaloniki, 4.5-5 hours to Meteora, 8-9 hours to Athens). There I found only 3 travel agencies that organize excursions: Bros Travel (located in the building of the Hermes Hotel, entrance from the street), Vilar (ask the hotel guide Katerina) and Mouzenidis Travel (the office is located near the hotel - up the street, the first turn to the right, about 20 meters on the right you will see a large vertical sign). Moreover, Bros Travel TF organizes trips no further than Thessaloniki (with the exception of Meteora). For example, a few excursions with prices:
"Meteora" (with a visit to 1 monastery): "Bros Travel" - 45 euros, "Vilar" - 65 euros, "Mouzenidis Travel" - 70 euros;
"Thessaloniki" (review): "Bros Travel" - 28 euros, "Vilar" - 40 euros, "Mouzenidis Travel" - 45 euros;
"Athens" (night departure): "Bros Travel" - no, "Vilar" - 100 euros, "Mouzenidis Travel" - 100 euros;
"Meteora + Athens" (2 days): "Bros Travel" - no, "Vilar" - 170 euros, "Mouzenidis Travel" - 200 euros;
"Vergina + Olympus + Dion": "Bros Travel" - no, "Vilar" - 50 euros, "Mouzenidis Travel" - 55 euros;
"Meteora + Corfu Island" (2 days): "Bros Travel" - no, "Vilar" - no, "Mouzenidis Travel" - 180 euros;
"Vergina + Olympus + Thermopylae + Delphi" (2 days): "Bros Travel" - no, "Vilar" - no, "Mouzenidis Travel" - 150 euros.
Differences in cost are due to the difference in programs, conditions (for example, during 2-day excursions, Mouzenidis Travel includes dinner in the price, while Vilar does not) and subjective reasons.
In addition to this, you will have to pay for lunch (from 8 euros + drinks) and entrance tickets (Dion - 4 euros, Vergina - 8 euros, Acropolis of Athens - 12 euros, Acropolis Museum - 5 euros, Meteora - 2 euros, Achilleion on Corfu - 7 euros, White Tower in Thessaloniki - 3 euros, archaeological museum in Thessaloniki - 6 euros, museum of Byzantine culture in Thessaloniki - 6 euros, museum + archaeological zone in Delphi - 9 euros).
As a result, we decided to visit Thessaloniki and Meteora on our own. We rented a car at the Status company (next to the Mouzenidis Travel agency). Toyota Yaris cost us 145 euros for 3 days, in addition we spent 112 euros for gasoline, 10 euros for toll roads (from 1.5 to 3 euros for a trip on one road, there may be several along the way) and 6 euros for 4 hours of parking in Thessaloniki (3 euros for the first hour, each subsequent hour - 1 euro). We took a navigator with us from Tyumen, so we got to Thessaloniki and Meteora without problems (I strained with the pointers there, so we would hardly have reached it without a navigator).
In addition, I went alone on excursions "Athens" (night departure) and "Vergina + Olympus + Thermopylae + Delphi" (2 days) from the travel agency "Mouzenidis Travel" - only this company carries to Delphi, and they and " Vilara” the price is the same, but I liked the program of “Mouzenidis Travel” more. Maybe someday I'll write reviews on these excursions.
GENERAL IMPRESSIONS
August is the hottest month in Greece, and even the "high" season. Therefore, I would not recommend this month for a vacation in Greece, especially involving excursions - huge crowds of people everywhere, prices are overpriced for everything, but climbing uphill (77% of the territory of Greece is occupied by mountains, so wherever you go - always uphill) at a temperature +44 in the shade - something else fun. The village of Hanioti is suitable only for a beach holiday. Traveling on excursions is very far, long and expensive. In addition, the water in the village is bad. The one that was given in the dining room is impossible to drink. Then we took water from the tap and boiled it in a saucepan - the taste is the same, and there is sediment at the bottom as thick as a finger. I was in other parts of Greece - the water is normal there. So get ready to buy bottled water at your own expense. There will be no language problems in Greece - almost everyone speaks Russian there (in hotels, shops, cafes, parking lots). Minimal English will not hurt (it came in handy when visiting museums and in the Meteora monastery, which we visited on our own). When communicating with the Greeks, be restrained - they are very touchy. At the same time, it is customary for them to address any interlocutor with “you”, speak loudly, actively gesticulate, and not be shy in expressions. For example, when I got on the sightseeing bus, it turned out that I had taken someone else's seat, since all the seats on the bus were booked. I asked the driver what seat was reserved for me. He (Euripides, a Greek by nationality) replied that No. 30. I said that I was sick at the end of the bus. His answer discouraged me: “Your problems. If you don't like it, get out." After a few hours at the bus stop, he apologized, but the mood was already spoiled. And this was not the only case. When I told one Greek woman that I don’t drink alcoholic beverages, she asked where I was from, and then remarked: “I knew that there were people who didn’t drink alcohol, but I didn’t know that there were such people among Russians.” In general, the impression was that the Greeks have a low opinion of the Russians, and generally do not really like tourists. When I asked the hotel guide why everything is expensive in Greece, and the service is not of the best quality, she replied that Greece is in consistently high demand among tourists, so they will always go there, regardless of the level of prices and service. The beaches in Chanioti are quite clean, the sea is warm, transparent, for snorkelers there is a variety of wildlife. Hotel "Hermes" I would recommend to young unpretentious tourists without children, ready to hang out every night until 2-3 o'clock. Although for this money (45-50 euros per day per room) you can find a better hotel. And take plenty of money with you, because even if you buy an all-inclusive package, you will have to pay for many things separately. And another warning for women: very dry air (at least in August) and very salty sea, so the skin dries godlessly. Take a moisturizing lotion with you or buy locally (there is a wide variety of olive oil-based products).
