1964

With a $10.6 million loan, Atlanta businessman Jay Sarno rented a plot in Las Vegas to build his hotel (originally called The Desert Cabana). The venture proved successful: four years later, Sarno bought the site on which Caesars Palace stood for $5 million.

1966

August 5 Caesars Palace opened its doors, although construction was still underway. The opening party was big - people like Johnny Carson and Jimmy Hoffa showed up. The day after the celebration, Hoffa gave his suite to 24-year-old aspiring businessman Steve Wynn, who years later was destined to become the "emperor" of Las Vegas.

1967

On December 31, another scene played out at Caesars Palace. Stuntman Evel Knievel convinced Sarno that he could jump over the hotel's fountains on his motorcycle. Having landed unsuccessfully, Knievel fractured his pelvic and femoral bones and spent 29 days in a coma. In 1989, his son Robbie Knievel repeated the trick. This time everything went well.

1970

As early as 1968, Frank Sinatra began performing regularly at Caesars Palace. In 1969, the founder of the hotel, Jay Sarno, sold it to the Pearlman brothers for $60 million. On September 6, 1970, Sinatra quarreled with casino manager Sanford Waterman. The latter pulled out a gun, which frightened off the singer: Sinatra did not appear at the hotel until 1974.

1992

The Forum shopping center with an area of ​​26 thousand square meters was opened at the hotel. m and the Spago restaurant of the famous chef Wolfgang Puck. Later, the area of ​​the Forum increased to 60 thousand square meters. m. Today it has 150 boutiques, including Cartier, Tiffany & Co. And Van Cleef & Arpels.

2009

2016

Caesars Palace managed to change owners several times. Today the hotel is owned by Caesars Entertainment Corp. Small blocks of shares are in the hands of Apollo Global Management and Paulson & Co.
Despite the fact that the casino declared bankruptcy in 2015, the hotel continues to live. The restaurant Mr. Chow, Celine Dion, Elton John and Mariah Carey perform at the Colosseum Theatre. Half a century later, the fun continues.
