Katathani Phuket Beach Resort 5 * is a modern hotel located in a picturesque area of ​​​​Phuket near Kata Noi Beach. Many tourists come here from Russia and China, as well as citizens of Western Europe. The complex was built in 1987, but in 2017 its large-scale renovation was completed. There are 11 buildings on the territory, which are located in two zones, depending on the proximity to the beach. For the birthday of the birthday, a cake and a greeting card are waiting, and compliments are also relied on by regular customers.

Most of the activities for children are located at Buri Wing, which includes a mini club, a games room with multi-level labyrinths and a new swimming pool. On the territory there is a playground with fountains and sprinklers, where children will have fun playing with their peers.

In the evenings, the garden is quite quiet, the musicians stop playing as early as nine in the evening. When the waves rise on the sea, you can swim in one of the 6 pools. Near them are umbrellas and sun loungers. Elevators work everywhere, the park is well looked after. Gardeners regularly mow lawns and remove fallen leaves. Active guests will enjoy the tennis court. The hotel is very popular due to its proximity to the sea, varied menu, excellent cafes and bars.

Parents with children love to come to this complex because of the entertainment program, which is considered a rarity for Thailand.

The territory is divided into 2 parts by a road. The buildings of the first zone are lined up along the coast, restaurants, cafes and swimming pools are located nearby. Just behind the buffet where breakfasts are served, there is a small lake with lilies. Nearby there is a gym, a billiards room and a souvenir shop.

Rooms

Families with children are not recommended to book rooms in the eighth building, as it is located very close to the road. At night it can be noisy due to disco sounds. The quietest rooms are closer to the mountain.

The rooms are spacious, divided into several zones, the parents' bed is separated from the extra bed (single bed or sofa) by a partition-screen. A separate area serves as a living room, there is a sofa, coffee table and desk. The walls are decorated with unusual paintings. The bathroom can be fitted with both a simple shower cabin and a bathtub, depending on the chosen category. There is also a bag for beach towels.

Upon check-in, administrators will ask for a deposit. In 2019, the amount was $100 and 200 baht, from which the cost of cocktails on the beach was deducted. For extended check-in, guests can be offered a free dinner. Wi-Fi is paid. Internet speed is uneven, sometimes it is too slow. According to tourists, a good signal is near the restaurant, which is located behind the pool on the left half of the territory.

There are several accommodation options:

• deluxe suites (quiet zone, extra bed on the sofa, maximum 3 people);
• family grand deluxe (quiet zone, division of rooms into zones, 2 + 2 people);
• junior suites (regular and sea view, 5 beds);
• grand suites with sea view (5 places).

The floors in the bedroom are wooden, the air conditioner is conveniently located. There is a TV, DVD player, hairdryer, kettle, minibar and safe. Depending on the floor, the room may have a balcony or a terrace. Cleaned daily, but sometimes there are complaints about the quality. It is better to take mosquito repellent with you. Every day the maids bring 2 bottles of water and a set of tea and coffee.

Nutrition

Vacationers can choose several meal options: one breakfast; half board and full board. In the mornings, breakfast is served in the buffet, where they arrange a buffet. The choice of dishes is quite large. You can have lunch and dinner according to a fixed menu, all other dishes and drinks are paid extra. Porridge and dairy products are very rare, in the morning they are more often served:

• scrambled eggs
• omelets;

• fruits (melons, watermelons, bananas, pineapples).

There are many cafes near the hotel, but many people prefer to dine in restaurants on site. The prices there are higher than on the street, but when preparing food, sanitary standards are observed.

At Fisherman's Wharf and Secret, children can order pureed soups. For the little ones, it is better to bring baby food, instant cereals, yogurt and other dairy products from home. Many note that full board is not always a profitable option, since even in a la carte restaurants, only dishes from a fixed menu are free to choose.

Chom Talay serves Thai dishes, while Fisherman's Wharf has not only local food, but also European dishes. The chefs at La Scala and Seaside prepare pizza, pasta, mac and cheese and other Italian dishes. Parents with children prefer to go to the buffet for dinner, where they arrange a buffet. Restaurants sometimes have to wait for orders. If the family checks out late, the restaurant will prepare a lunch box. There are also 5 bars on site. You can go to the restaurant of the neighboring hotel Mom Tris, which offers a beautiful view of the sea. The chefs there cook very well, but the complex itself is not very suitable for living with small children.

Staff

The level of service in Katathani is quite consistent with five stars. Upon check-in, guests are treated to soft drinks. The waiters are very friendly and enjoy interacting with children. Some speak Russian a little. Also during the season there is an employee to work with Russian-speaking clients. The rest can be explained in English. There are many cleaners on the territory who sweep the paths and keep the park clean. Gardeners mow the lawns, there are employees who regularly clean the pools.

Entertainment and animation

The complex has a free internet corner where you can work on your computer. Tourists will be offered to visit a gym, a beauty salon, a SPA center, play table tennis and billiards for free, and rent a tennis court, where lighting is turned on in the evenings.

Although there is no active animation, water aerobics classes are arranged in the pool in the mornings. In restaurants, live music often sounds in the evenings, and on some days they arrange acrobat shows, fire performances and dance performances. Sometimes guests are invited to go to the observation deck. A program with all the entertainment is in each room. The employees of the children's club do not speak Russian, you can only speak English with them, but the children will easily find a common language with the teachers. The game room has a whole multi-level town with ladders and bridges.

The Aqua Play zone water entertainment area is usually open until 17, there are water slides, fountains and all kinds of water sprinklers.

There are also 6 pools, the newest of which is the Seven Seas, it is located on the territory of Buri Wing. For a fee, parents can hire a babysitter for their children. During the holidays, there are many fun competitions for children. Rows of souvenir merchants line up near the central building several times a week, and artists also come here to paint portraits for everyone. They also offer paid courses in Thai cuisine, fruit carving workshops, yoga classes and Master Chef courses for children.

Beach

Kata Noi is ranked second in beauty after Freedom Beach. You can reach it in 3 minutes from any building. The coastal strip of sand extends along a small bay. There are fewer people here than on Kata Beach, which is located a little to the north. Directly from it begins the road through the mountain pass, leading to Neu-Harn. On the way, you can stop by the park with elephants and climb to the observation deck. Near Kata Noi there are many restaurants with a beautiful view of the sea. In summer, the beach strip is very narrow, and at the end of November, big waves rise on the sea. On such days, a red flag is put on the sand.

A shuttle bass sometimes goes to Patong, but this beach is noticeably inferior to Kata Noi in the beauty of the sea and coast.

Stinging plankton sometimes floats close to the shore in the water. Although the burns from it are almost invisible, many Chinese tourists prefer to swim in bathing shirts. On the beach, vacationers often play volleyball or run in the morning. The entrance to the sea is gentle, the ebbs and flows are usually not very noticeable. Many sunbathe on sun loungers under palm trees, which are 20 meters from the water. You can walk to Kata in 15 minutes, there is also a tuk-tuk. The easiest way to get to the paid Freedom Beach is by water, but it is located at some distance.

Location and surroundings

From Phuket's main airport to Catatani can be reached in 40-55 minutes, the distance is about 50 km. It is 14 km to Patong, the easiest way to get there is by tuk-tuk or taxi. Twice a day, a shuttle bus departs from the gates of the hotel to the city. Many vacationers do not have the best impressions of a sightseeing tour, as the bus often stops near shops where sellers are obsessively trying to sell their goods. The statue of the Big Buddha on the hill can be reached by taxi, next to it there is a wonderful observation deck. Tourists make excellent videos during the Avatar's Path excursion to the places where the famous film was filmed, but small children should not be taken on it.

Older kids enjoy monkey shows, trips to the honey factory and elephant rides through the jungle. On Kata Beach, you can buy fresh fruits and unusual souvenirs. Bangla Road, where most bars and restaurants are located, is 12 km from the complex.

Good photos can be taken in the Upside Down House. Children love this museum because it is built upside down. Taking a picture in one of the rooms and turning the photo over, everyone can imagine that he is floating in weightlessness.

Local bureaus offer trips to James Bond Island and Bounty Island (Ko Samet), as well as trips to the protected forests of Khao Phra Teo, where you can admire waterfalls, swim in clear lakes, see monkeys and tropical birds.
