Is Slovenia part of the Schengen

Slovenia attracts tourists from all over the world with its rich history and beautiful nature. Clear sea, old authentic cities and culture, good-natured locals and fashionable resorts are popular among Russians, but the question often arises in the context of the need for a visa: Slovenia in the Schengen or not?

Slovenian Republic and European Union

European countries are in two major associations: the European Union and the Schengen area. Whether Slovenia is in the EU or not, there should be no doubt: the republic has been a member of the EU since 2004 - it was the largest expansion of the union, when 10 new countries joined it.

Thus, the Republic of Slovenia joined the European Union on May 1, 2004 together with Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.

EU Member States

Having started EU membership together with other countries of Eastern Europe, today Slovenia is developing in many sectors thanks to the support of the European community.

The list of European Union countries for 2019 has 28 participants: Great Britain, Ireland, Belgium, Hungary, Greece, Germany, Estonia, Bulgaria, France, Denmark, Spain, Latvia, Cyprus, Lithuania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Austria, Malta, Poland , Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Italy, Finland, Czech Republic, France, Sweden.

Which countries are in the Schengen area

The Schengen Agreement covers 26 states. It allows you to freely cross the borders of the countries participating in the agreement, having the necessary permission (for citizens of other countries) - a Schengen visa.
