Which terminal is Pulkovo 1, Pulkovo 2 or Pulkovo 3?

Many passengers ask the question from which terminal of Pulkovo Airport will the flight depart? To date, the Pulkovo airport complex consists of 2 terminals: New terminal Pulkovo which opened on December 4, 2013. and now performs the functions of sending and receiving international flights and reconstructed old terminal Pulkovo 1, popularly nicknamed "5 glasses", which was opened on February 3, 2015 and now serves domestic flights in Russia. This terminal is connected to the main building of the centralized passenger terminal by a passage gallery. You can get to both terminals through a single entrance in the new terminal. Old international terminal Pulkovo 2, which was located next to the air town, was transferred to the service of private jets and is not engaged in servicing regular flights. So now the united "Pulkovo 1" is engaged in passenger service.

The Pulkovo-2 airport terminal in St. Petersburg, which has stood abandoned for the past 4 years, is being reopened: it will be used during the World Cup this summer. True, once you are in this terminal now, you will not recognize it: the interior now looks completely different and slightly post-apocalyptic. Let's see together!

Only one half of the terminal, which previously housed the departure area, will be open. It is designed for 1,000 passengers per hour, but at the same time only one flight will be served here - either for arrival or departure. This is to ensure that fans of the opposing teams don't garner too many likes from each other.

The layout is “reversible”, that is, arriving passengers go in the same place as departing ones, only in the opposite direction. We will show the full route in the photo and video.

Interestingly, in the terminal, passengers will only check in for flights and go through passport control: until that moment, no one will be allowed inside, and a special waiting area with catering establishments, dry closets and tents will be located on the forecourt.

Only passengers on organized charter flights with fans, both domestic and international, will take off from Pulkovo-2. "Regular" is serviced in a centralized passenger terminal. It will be possible to get to Pulkovo-2 and back on special shuttle buses for fans.

In order to assess the readiness of the infrastructure to receive fans and rehearse the work of the services, Northern Capital Gateway announced the recruitment of volunteers to participate in the operational tests of the temporary terminal. The testing is supervised by a specially created project team, which includes specialists from several operational divisions of the airport. The tests began on April 12 and will last until April 26 (only six days, two per week). Volunteers, recruited by Kelly Services, will act as passengers during a simulated standard airport operation and will walk the same route fans will take on championship days. All procedures for departure and arrival are being worked out, including obtaining boarding passes in case of loss, checking in and receiving luggage, passing through pre-flight inspection, border and customs control. In total, about 1,000 volunteers and over 300 employees of the airport and government agencies will be involved in the tests.

And now the report:

The four-year-old ad is still hanging, but volunteers are here today.

Inside are old airline signs. It is impossible to climb the gallery of the second floor, a wall has been built. This part of the terminal was opened 15 years ago.

We bought new suitcases for the volunteers, with which they will “fly”.

They brought in new check-in counters…

All documentation, by the way, is real and is filled out during the test.

Volunteers in mandatory vests are let into the terminal one by one. Everyone has their own task.

For example, I had NOREC - a passenger absent in PNL. However, a printed boarding pass was given immediately at the counter, so it’s not even interesting. But on the other hand, a real passenger will do without hassle.

With luggage sent to the baggage scanner, the rest - immediately to the pre-flight inspection

Inside, everything is simple: luggage reception in a clean area on the left, the rest are straight all the way

Racks are the simplest with improvised weights. They are located just in the middle of the room.

And these are the future passport control booths, they will be placed throughout the hall so that it is impossible to pass by.

But there is no baggage handling system yet. These are the remains of the old, dismantled.

New promise to have time to install by the summer.

In the meantime, the luggage goes nowhere.

In fact, it doesn't get anywhere at all.

The old introscope has not been working for a long time and only takes up space.

Toilets are old fashioned too.

The escalators to the second floor are boarded up, there are no more teleports.

Here you can relax before the flight

But the equipment is already working on the gates

But there will be no TVs throughout the terminal, as before.

But the views are beautiful

New equipment for passport control has been brought in

And it has not yet been delivered to the office premises

But you can wash

Volunteers are served lunch

Such is the diet. Wouldn't you refuse this on an airplane?

If the volunteer is full, then the terminal will be open

For Russia, this is a rather rare and not typical situation, but the airport in St. Petersburg is located not so far from the city, so the question of a trip from the airport to the center is a matter of several tens of minutes, and not more than an hour, as in Moscow. In this article we will tell you how to get from Pulkovo to St. Petersburg.

Pulkovo-1 and Pulkovo-2: is there a difference

In principle, now there is no difference from which Pulkovo you will go from. The fact is that in 2015 the airport is already one, and is simply called Pulkovo, sometimes the name Pulkovo-1 is also found. The second terminal is closed, so you should not be confused about which terminal to go from and how these terminals differ. At the moment, there is no difference between Pulkovo-1 and Pulkovo-2, because such a designation is simply no longer used.

Public transport

I am glad that we figured out the designations of the terminals. Usually this is what confuses the guests of the northern capital. Now let's move on to the question of how to get there. We recommend using public transport. As we have already said, the airport is located very close to the city, so even with suitcases you will not have difficulty getting to the airport not by taxi, but by public transport. The scheme is very simple:

  • Take the metro to the Moskovskaya station
  • Exit following the signs and come to a stop
  • At the bus stop, take a minibus or a small bus

Everything, in 10 minutes without traffic jams, or in 20-30 minutes if the traffic is heavy, you will find yourself at the airport. This is the best option if you are going to the airport between 5.30 and 0.30.

Transfer

Of course, if you are traveling in a large group, then the transfer will certainly be more convenient than public transport. The same applies to organized groups. The transfer price is negotiated individually. Some hotels even provide transfers for free, as long as you stay with them.

Taxi

As for the taxi, everything is in order with this in St. Petersburg. You can order a taxi in advance, even a day before arrival. Or you can fly in and call a taxi. As you will be more comfortable. The cost of a taxi varies greatly and it all depends, as in any other city, on the starting point. If you go from the Moskovskaya metro station, this is where most minibuses in Pulkovo stop, then the cost will be about 600-700 rubles. From the center you will be delivered for about 1100-1300 rubles. We recommend that you look at several options, because there are prices several times higher than average.
