Viewpoints of Prague on the map. The most beautiful panoramic view of Prague! Street New World

So much has already been written and told about Prague that I don’t want to bore you with yet another enumeration of sights and various historical narratives. Today I’ll just show you the views of Prague from different viewing platforms and briefly talk about them. If you are in doubt whether it is worth coming here, perhaps this post of mine will help you finally decide. Personally, I remember Prague the most and liked its hilly location and views from different parts of the city. Enjoy!

1. We rented an apartment relatively close to Zizkov TV Tower, so the first thing we went to her. This is the tallest building not only in Prague, but in the whole Czech Republic (260 m.)

2. Unfortunately, the observation deck is not at the very top, but only at the level of 93 meters, but the views from it are steep

3. The observation deck is open from 8 am to midnight, you can take the elevator

4. Entrance is paid, it costs 230 Czech crowns (almost 700 rubles), a lot, agree

5. The main disadvantage is that the entire observation deck is fenced, there is no access to the street at all, so you have to admire the city through dirty and cloudy glass (for such an entrance price they could wash it, I think)

6. And from the pros - a 360-degree view

7. View from charles bridge, one of the main attractions of the city

8. Admission is free;)

9. Next lookout - Petrin Tower, the rise is also paid, it costs 120 kroons (360 rubles), there is no elevator, so you have to go up on foot, the lookouts are on two levels

10. The tower itself is not very high (only 80 meters, including the antenna), but since it is on top of a hill, the views from it are excellent

11. There are windows on the observation deck from which you can take normal pictures without fear of dirty glasses

12. Prague is a very green city

13. In the center of the frame - Charles Bridge, it can be hard to see here, but there are a lot of people there, the whole bridge is literally packed with people

14. Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral

15.

16. The giant Strahov stadium can accommodate 220 thousand (!) Spectators, but there are only 56 thousand seats. The stadium was built in 1926, at one time both sports and cultural events were held here, for example, rock legends such as the Rolling Stones, Guns N "Roses, Pink Floyd, U2, AC / DC and many others performed here.

17. In the center of the frame is the Zizkov TV Tower, which we have already visited, see how much it is higher than the rest of the buildings around

18. All Prague at a glance

19. Coming down from Petrin Hill you can sit on a bench absolutely free of charge to admire the views of the city, which are not much inferior to those that open from the tower

20. You can also come to the fortress absolutely free of charge Visegrad and enjoy the panorama of the area and the unhurried course of the Vltava River, which is enjoyed by both tourists and local residents

21.

22.

23. View towards the city from the other side of the Vysehrad fortress

24. There is another fortress in the city - Prague Castle, this is the view from its walls, the entrance is again free, the only thing is that the guards will ask you to open the backpack and show its contents

25. Not far from Prague Castle are Hotkov gardens, in themselves are not remembered for anything special, but in some places you can see something like this. City like a toy

By the way, in the title photo for this post - a view from one of the hills in the park Latna, not far from Prague metronome, on the site of which there used to be a monument to Dzhugashvili (Stalin).

26. The photos below are from the same park

27. These are far from all the observation decks that are in Prague, but even bypassing the above, I really liked the city. On some of them you just want to sit and enjoy, drinking water / coffee / beer / wine (choose according to the situation), it’s even better if your loved one shares this moment with you, but singles will also like it here

Thank you for attention!

Prague is one of the most wonderful capitals in Europe. This city has undergone a lot in its lifetime, has seen a lot, and it has something to show its numerous guests. Everyone starts acquaintance with the city in his own way, and it depends on him. But without exception, all guests of Prague need to take a look at the city as a whole, without which it is difficult to form a correct idea of it.

For this, special viewing platforms are provided, built in the form of independent objects of urban architecture, or using already existing historical buildings and structures as a basis.

So we present to you 11 observation decks with beautiful views of Prague. It is in these places that the best photographs of the roofs of Prague houses, as well as sights from above, are obtained.

The observation decks near the walls of Prague Castle are considered the best when it comes to the quality of the views that open on the sides, and the number of tourists who want to take advantage of this opportunity proves this.

View from the Prague Castle lookout

Here the walls themselves are used as a basis. Observation platforms are attached next to the fortress wall and allow you to see in detail both the New and the Old City. In the distance you can see domesrising above the city roofs, and even sharp towers, which is located on.

Object 2. Tower of the Cathedral of St. Nicholas (Lesser Square)

There are two cathedrals in Prague in honor of St. Nicholas, or Mikulas, as the Czechs affectionately pronounce his name. One temple is located on the Old Town Square, but we are not talking about it. But the second one, on - the same one. And on its tower there is also an observation deck. The tower itself only stands right next to the cathedral, but has nothing to do with it. It was built and has always served as a security facility. Is the enemy approaching the walls of the city, is there a fire inside these walls, and in general - is everything safe in the glorious city? In case a source of disaster was discovered, the tower had a bell to alert the population. These are the functions performed by the tower, that is, it was an object, one of many that guaranteed the city a safe existence. Unfortunately, she herself became a victim of a fire that happened in 1925. Everything that could burn was burned, but the bell survived. Now the tower has retired, and it has an honorable function - to show off the city. To do this, it was provided with a balcony, which rises to 65 meters, and under the balcony the tower is decorated with a clock. From the balcony, guests of Prague can survey the surroundings and admire the roofs and looking at them from an unusual height.

Object 3. Tower of the Old Town Hall

The tower is also famous for its chimes, which, unfortunately, can only be heard from inside it. But it's worth listening to them, because they remember such a huge number of different melodies that no one managed to hear the same melody twice. From the observation deck of the tower you can see the Old Town, and also Wenceslas Square, which stretches below in all its glory.

Object 5. Bridge towers of Charles Bridge

Lesser Town bridge towers

The bridge towers of the Charles Bridge stand on both sides. This is on the western side of the Charles Bridge, and on the eastern side.

Old Town Bridge Tower

It was through the Old Town Tower, or rather, under its arch, that the Czech kings passed, going to Prague Castle. 136 steps lead to its observation deck, and having overcome them, you can admire an unusual view both to the west, to the same Lesser Town bridge towers and the Charles Bridge itself, and to the east, to the Old Town. There are two Malostransk towers, they are different in height and architecture, and are connected by an arch. The towers mark the beginning of Mostecka Street, and behind them Mala Strana begins.

View from the Old Town Bridge Tower

There is a whole observation gallery on the High Tower, which is reached by 146 steps. From this gallery you can clearly see both the Church of St. Nicholas and the entire complex of buildings of the Prague Castle.

Object 6. Powder Tower or Powder Gate

There is another object from the observation deck of which you can admire the Old Town and the Old Town Square. This is - or rather - Powder Gate, whose height is 65 meters. The tower has a very severe appearance, it is decorated with church subjects, images of saints, as well as sculptures of the ancient rulers of the Czech Republic involved in its construction. The fact is that the tower began to be built back in the 15th century, as one of the entrances to the Old City. But - times have changed, the construction of the gate - the entrance to the Old City has lost its relevance and, in the end, stopped, although a lot of effort and money was invested in the decoration of the structure.

At present, the tower has been given a pseudo-Gothic style; at a height of 44 meters, an observation deck has been organized, to which 186 steps lead. And it was called Powder Powder only because at one of the moments of its difficult history, gunpowder was temporarily stored in it.

Object 7. Vyshegrad

One of the significant monuments of the history of the Czech Republic is the fortress. This ancient castle, built in the 10th century, has concentrated memories of perhaps the most romantic page in the history of the Czech Republic, but at the same time, the most significant, connected with the origins of Czech statehood. It was from this fortress that Princess Libuse looked at young Prague and promised her glory and prosperity. And so it happened, Prague flourished and became famous, and in the 19th century Vysehrad itself was absorbed by it, and became just one of its districts. Several platforms have been built in the fortress, from which, like Princess Libusha, you can look at the panorama of the city - and wish it glory and prosperity.

Object 8. Ganava Pavilion

This is a very interesting object, which is called. In addition to being extremely interesting from an architectural point of view, it also has its own industrial history. It was built in Prague in 1891 as one of the exhibits of the Zemstvo Industrial Exhibition, as one of the pavilions for the exposition of the metallurgical plant located in Hanava. Turning out to be the most interesting engineering and architectural structure, after the end of the exhibition it was donated to the city of Prague, dismantled, and then reassembled, but already - in. He was returned, after a long reconstruction, the original exceptional appearance, and now it houses a restaurant.

View from the Ganava Pavilion

From this restaurant you can watch the views of the Prague Castle and the majestic Vltava for hours. This opportunity is widely used by artists, and their flow does not thin out over time.

Object 9. Tower of St. Vitus Cathedral

Tower, the most famous in Prague, which is considered the largest of its many cathedrals. The observation deck is located on the south tower, which reaches a height of 96.5 meters. The platform, of course, is lower, but not by much. 300 steps lead there, and not everyone can overcome them. But for those who have spared no effort, a view opens up that is truly unforgettable. Both Old Prague and New Prague - here they are, lying below, in full view.

View from St. Vitus Cathedral

You can admire the round dance of multi-colored roofs with a predominance of red and brown for a long time, look for familiar buildings from an unusual angle, at first only guess, and then joyfully recognize.

Object 10. Zizkov TV Tower

Built between 1985 and 1992. This is the tallest building in the Czech Republic, it reaches a height of 216 meters. The tower received negative reviews from the international community in three ways: for its location, since during its construction the Jewish cemetery was destroyed, at least part of it; for increasing the electromagnetic background; for violating the general architectural ensemble characteristic of Prague. In addition, she was given the status of the ugliest building, which did not please the citizens of Prague. The appearance of the tower has undergone significant changes after such a tough assessment, and now the tower consists of three concrete pillars that serve as the basis for transverse platforms that accommodate both a room for television equipment, a cafe, a restaurant, a hotel for one guest and - three observation sites. The tower, as a result, was given the appearance of a rocket, frozen before launching into the sky. The more extravagant they look, climbing on its supports. The restaurant is located at an altitude of 60 meters, and observation decks - at an altitude of 93 meters. And there, and there you can take the elevator. From any of the observation platforms, a view opens up that cannot be described in words, but which you just need to see. They say you can see at a glance 100 km in radius. It is even difficult to imagine this in reality.

Object 11. Petrin Tower

Which is the highest point in Prague. It is also called the Eiffel Tower, only Prague, because it really resembles its French counterpart in outline. The height of the tower itself is not a record for Prague buildings, only 80 meters, and even the upper observation deck of the two available in the tower is at a height of only 55 meters. It would seem that this is not a record, but here the location factor comes into force -, 318 meters high. The total height of the hill and the tower makes it possible to see from the observation deck even such an object as the Krkonoše Mountains, 150 km from Prague. You can climb to the observation decks either by a paid elevator or by stairs that go around the tower in a spiral. Climbing the stairs is not an easy job, but it's interesting to watch how with each turn the horizon moves away, and the area below becomes more and more shallow, similar to a model, toy.

View from the Petrin Tower

And the gardens at the foot of the tower seem soft and fluffy from above, and the trees no longer distinguish. You can climb into these gardens from below with the help of an ancient structure that has been doing its job for over 130 years. Climbing up the hill, you can go to the Nebozizek restaurant, sit at a table facing the window, and watch the Vltava and the majestic Charles Bridge. And, leaving the restaurant, proceed further, to where in an extraordinary rose garden, divided into three dissimilar parts, countless inflorescences of roses will enchant with their beauty. By the way, the rose garden is visible from the observation platforms of the Petrin Tower, and makes a great impression on the observer.

So, Prague, seen from a height, from different positions, and maybe from different points of view. Prague, with its urban landscapes, sometimes gothic, gloomy and strict, sometimes frankly urbanistic, and sometimes lyrical, with a touch of slight melancholy. It is different for everyone, and everyone sees it in their own way. But there is a certain substance in it that equally affects both the cynical skeptic and the sincere romantic, and the vulgar materialist is also affected by this substance, although he will not admit it for anything. What is this special charm, invincible and irresistible, which so affects the guests of the city? Who knows what to call it, and what's the difference? Simply - come to Prague, you will understand everything yourself.

Rail Europe and by bus. If necessary (for example, to organize a shopping tour), we buy package tours for.

Prague is called by different names. So it is with people, as usual: what is especially liked, and should be called in a special way. One of the most common nicknames is "the city of a hundred spiers" or, to put it more succinctly, "hundred-towered". And the reason for this is very clear - in Prague there is not only something to see, but also a place to visit.

So, let's look at the top of the most spectacular skyscrapers in Prague. Popular and unknown. Free and those that will have to spend a little. By the way, for more convenient differentiation by price, next to each attraction there are eloquent icons "" and " ».

Lookout tower Petřín /

It is perhaps logical to start the selection from the highest point of the city. This is the observation tower Petřín. This metal structure is often called the Prague Eiffel Tower and, I must say, there are reasons for this.

On the Petrin tower, one above the other, there are observation platforms, which can be reached both on your own, that is, by stairs, and by elevator. Naturally, the first method, unlike the second, is free. The height of the tower is 80 meters, but the last observation deck is only 55 meters.

The Petrin Tower is located on the hill of the same name, which even from a height of fifty meters allows you to see not only the whole of Zlata Prague, but also its surroundings. Rumor has it that on a clear day even the Krkonoše mountains are visible from here, and yet their remoteness from the capital is no less than one and a half hundred kilometers.

South tower of St. Vitus Cathedral

Tower of the Cathedral - the second highest observation deck in the city. Despite the fact that part of the cathedral is free to visit, you have to pay a hundred crowns to enter the south tower.

The total height of the tower is 96 meters. The observation deck is located a little lower. There is no lift here, and you will have to overcome the three hundred steps on your own, but the view waiting at the end of the path is worth it. From the observation deck you can clearly see Old and New Prague, as well as a sea of red and brown roofs, smoothly merging with the horizon.

towers on

Here it is - confirmation that in the "heart of Europe" it is not at all necessary to rest with a tightly stuffed wallet. Charles Bridge, as well as its observation towers, is the pearl of Prague's free attractions.

From the Old Town Tower, which can be climbed in just 136 steps, you can see the Old Town and the opposite side of the bridge, on which the Lesser Town, Malaya and Vysokoya towers are located. Most of them offer a view of the Prague Castle and the Church of St. Nicholas.

Tower of the Old Town Hall

In the old days, the 56-meter tower served as an observation post for the residents of the city. From its top, sentries looked after the surroundings and alerted them to fires that had broken out. Nowadays, this Gothic building attracts tourists with picturesque views of the Old Town.

Having paid for the entrance, visitors can rightly count on the services of an elevator. However, there is no urgent need for it here - according to "eyewitnesses", the tower provides the most humane ascent, since not hundreds of steps lead to the observation deck, but inclined slabs.

Ganava Pavilion

This treasure is hidden in Leten Gardens. Initially, the pavilion was built as an exhibit for the Industrial Exhibition, but since 1891 a lot of water has flowed under the bridge, and the purpose of the building has changed radically. Now a restaurant is open here.

However, for connoisseurs of panoramic views, the local area is not of gastronomic value. The Hanava Pavilion offers a breathtaking view of the Vltava, as well as almost all of Prague's bridges. Given that the city has earned the nickname of the "Venice of the North", this view is certainly worth a lot!

Zizkov TV Tower

The Zizkov TV Tower, an indoor observation deck, which is definitely worth the money spent, also won its place of honor in the top skyscrapers.

The tower was built only a couple of decades ago, but during this time it managed to acquire the title of "the second ugliest building in the world." After such name-calling, the TV tower lost its original purpose, was reconstructed and is now one of the most popular viewing platforms in Prague.

At a height of 93 meters there are three different halls, on the lower floors there is a restaurant, a cafe and a one-of-a-kind hotel consisting of one room. Even the huge black babies that can be seen standing on the Charles Bridge, it was decided to leave on the walls of the tower.

They say that Prague is best viewed from a bird's eye view. Like it or not - you be the judge. However, having climbed one of the skyscrapers, it is impossible not to pay tribute to the "hundred-towered". And for this it is not at all necessary to conquer the whole hundred!

You can visit all the objects on your own or book an individual tour with us, which will include not only these sights, but also many other interesting places in Prague. Feel free to contact us with any questions. We are always happy to help our clients.

When leaving Prague, I want to take a piece of it with me - photographs with favorite views, to look at their houses and dream of returning here again and again ... There are observation platforms in the city, from where the pictures will be win-win.

Having been in Prague, it is impossible not to fall in love with this magical, ancient city. Therefore, when leaving, I want to take a piece of it with me - photographs with favorite views of the city of red roofs. Looking at the pictures at home, remember the mystical atmosphere that enveloped you in Prague, and dream of returning here again and again. Of course, everyone sees the city in their own way. Someone likes the quiet charm of gardens and parks. Some are fascinated by architecture. Someone is occupied with human images. Prague is called the city of hundreds of towers, and it is the towers that are the best viewing platforms in Prague. But it is not at all necessary to climb all one hundred towers to admire the magical panoramas of the Czech capital. We have chosen for you the best observation decks in Prague, climbed them (and at different times of the year) and took beautiful photos. And you just have to choose which one you like best! Well, or also climb all four, because the views from them are simply breathtaking!

The best viewing platforms in Prague: content of the article

Old Town Hall

- the main attraction of the Old City. One of the pearls of this square is the 14th century town hall with the famous Prague Astronomical Clock and the Gothic tower. The height of the tower is 69.5 meters, and at 59 meters there is one of the best observation decks in Prague with a 360-degree panoramic view. It offers a beautiful view of many sights of the city and even the Prague Castle. The entrance ticket costs 250 crowns.

You can take the elevator to the observation deck, but it's better to go down on foot. Moreover, not steps lead down, but inclined plates. Eternal twilight, ancient stones underfoot, walls blackened from time to time - the atmosphere in the Prague City Hall is truly mystical and even a little creepy! East European legends about sorcerers, villains and ghouls immediately come to mind ... However, in this respect it is not unique. At one time, at work, I was in the mayor's offices of various Russian cities, and I responsibly declare: even without the Gothic, they are no less creepy, and the ghouls are real.

By the way, the Old Town Hall is the only observation platform where we climbed in winter. We climbed all the other observation decks in Prague either in summer or golden autumn (that is, with a difference of one day, because the weather in Prague in October changes constantly). Therefore, ahead of you are not just beautiful, but also a variety of photos of Prague from a bird's eye view!

In Prague, all roads lead to the Old Town Square to the famous Town Hall. This is where they brought us.

Snow-covered red roofs, towers and spiers of Prague Castle - this is what a winter fairy tale looks like!

Do you know why there are so few tourists in the square? Because it is winter, and the figures of the apostles on the Prague Astronomical Clock will appear only in an hour.

In the foreground - the Powder Tower, in the far - the Zizkov TV Tower. There is also a high-rise observation deck, but it doesn’t pull on the best viewing platforms in Prague - it’s far from the main attractions.

Tyn Temple (Church of the Virgin Mary in front of Tyn) is the main Gothic cathedral on the right bank of the Vltava.

: view from the Old Town Hall on Nove Mesto.

Old Town Bridge Tower (Charles Bridge)

The Old Town Bridge Tower is only 500 meters from the town hall, but the view from here is completely different. This Gothic tower adorns the entrance to the right bank of the Vltava. The height of the tower is 47 meters, and an observation platform is located 39 meters from the ground. In my opinion, it is quite worthy to lead the rating of "The Best Viewpoints in Prague". After all, it is from here that you can take canonical photos that adorn every second postcard with views of Prague: the Vltava, the red roofs of the Lesser Town and above all this beauty - the Prague Castle with the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral. By the way, the most famous temple in the Czech Republic and the Old Town Bridge Tower (and at the same time the Charles Bridge) were built by the same architect - Petr Parler. All these masterpieces were created in the XIV century.

And the observation deck on the Old Town Tower of Charles Bridge is one of the most accessible in Prague. In all senses. Firstly, there are only 138 steps leading there (to the Petrin Tower - 299). Secondly, a ticket here costs only 100 crowns.

According to the decree of Charles IV, the Old Town Tower should complete the architectural ensemble of Charles Bridge to decorate the selfies of guests from the East.

Previously, part of this tower was occupied by a prison. Noticeable, right?

The usual number of tourists on the Charles Bridge even in the low season. And it's not over yet!

Dear readers, if anyone knows, tell me the name of the clock tower in the photo!

If you turn away from the Vltava, a beautiful view of Stare Mesto opens up with the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in the foreground.

And here is the long-awaited canonical photo of Prague. Vltava, Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral and golden autumn. You do what you want, but I stay.

Petrin Hill and Petrin Tower

Imagine, the Petřín Tower was built at the end of the 19th century! So we were surprised to learn how many years this brilliant high-tech design is. However, for Prague, any building younger than 300 years old is a new building. It is not without reason that the Petrin Tower looks so similar to the Eiffel Tower - it was after visiting Paris that Czech tourists suggested building something similar in Prague. No sooner said than done: if the main attraction of France was born in 1889, then the Petrin Tower was built in just two years and in just five months.

The Pershinskaya tower rises on the left bank of the Vltava on the top of the hill of the same name. The height of Petrin Hill is 327 meters, the towers are 80 meters, the observation deck is located at a 55-meter height. You can go up to the funicular, to the tower - on the elevator. But if you have at least a little health, time, free space in the memory of the camera (underline as necessary), we strongly advise you to go up there and there on foot. The road to the hill winds along the paths of a beautiful park, stunning views of either the Old Town or Prague Castle open up at every step. And a spiral staircase leads to the observation platform of the Petrin Tower, on which even glass does not separate you from the fall of a beautiful view - only metal structures through which it is very convenient to look and shoot. The price of the entrance ticket is 150 kroons.

You can take the funicular up to Petrin Hill. But it is better to walk along the winding paths of a beautiful park.

Moreover, there are such beautiful views along the way.

And also such.

And even those! What awaits us at the observation deck of the Petrin Tower?

So there you are! Get ready, we're going home to France.

Letensky gardens

Letensky Gardens (“Air Gardens” in Czech) and without any observation decks is one of the best places to relax in Prague. This huge park is located on a hill on the left bank of the Vltava. Shady alleys and sunny lawns, the famous Prague Metronome and the oldest carousel in Europe, cozy restaurants and playgrounds… Tourists like to come here to rest after walking around the Old Town and the Jewish Quarter, from the Old New Synagogue to the Metronome - no more than 10 minutes walk. And Letensky Gardens got into the list of “the best viewing platforms in Prague” due to the fact that from here a beautiful view opens not only on the Old Town and the Vltava, but also on all its bridges.

There are several viewing platforms with beautiful panoramas in Letensky Gardens at once, one of them is located near the already mentioned (twice) Metronome. But still the best view opens from the observation deck near the Ganava Pavilion. This beautiful yellowish building was built at the end of the 19th century and now houses a restaurant. Expensive restaurant. And the observation deck is open for you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for free!

Letensky Gardens are not only the best viewing platforms in Prague with a view of all its bridges, but also a great place for walking.

The same Ganava pavilion, from where a beautiful view of the Old Town and the Vltava opens.

From the observation deck at the Hanava Pavilion, six bridges of Prague can be seen at once.

Another famous bridge in Prague - the Chekhov Bridge - is located directly under the Letensky Gardens and connects them to the Old Town.

The best viewpoints in Prague offer you a great view… of each other. In the center of the frame is the Old Town Bridge Tower.

Bonus: Visegrad viewpoint

In the title, we promised to show you the four best observation decks in Prague, but we could not resist and nevertheless added the Vysehrad fortress here out of competition. The observation deck is located in the western part of the Visegrad Garden, above the river itself. Yes, I agree, the view from here is not as amazing as from the four above-described reviews. But firstly, it is also very, very worthy: at your feet the blue of the beautiful Vltava splashed with the island of Imperial Meadow, and in the background you run the risk of seeing four or five bridges headed by Prague Castle in the north. Secondly, there is not one, but two observation decks: one on a hill above the Vltava, the second - on the opposite edge of the park overlooking the Old and New Place. Thirdly, you can come here in any weather: on foggy days, the slopes of the Prague hills disappearing into a mystical haze look even more mysterious. And fourth, it's completely free! And besides, you will still go to Vysehrad, so why not combine business with pleasure. What do you mean "I won't go", you just yet

The observation deck of Vyshegrad with a view of the New Town is located at the very entrance from the side of the Stone Gate. Don't pass by!
