Judging by the Instagram photos and the weather, the ski season has begun. For thrilling skiers and snowboarders who want to know where it's already snowy and where it's still bare, we've put together a list of all the webcams of the top seven Ukrainian ski resorts: Bukovel, Slavske, Dragobrat, Plai, Verkhovyna, Vodyaniki and Kiev's Protasiv Yar .

Slavske

The ski slopes of the Slavske ski resort are located on 4 mountains: Trostyan, Pogar, Menchil and Vysokiy Verkh.

There are 11 trails on Mount Trostyan with a total length of 22 km. Mount Pogar is a place for lovers of extreme skiing. There is a certified track for the slalom competition, as well as tracks for freestyle, hang gliding, giant slalom. On Mount Menchil there are 4 slopes for beginners, and on Mount High Top there is a ski area with ski fields.

Bukovel

Bukovel is located at an altitude of 850-1372 meters above sea level near the village of Polyanitsa. Its ski slopes stretch for a total of 51 kilometers (three roads - Dovga, Bukovel and Chernaya Kleva). Basically, these are medium-difficulty slopes, but there are also black ones for pros and blue ones for beginners.

Prices for accommodation during the holiday season (New Year and Christmas): from 6,200 UAH for 4 nights, double room.

Subscription prices: last year for 1 day during the holiday season you would have paid 396 UAH. This year prices have not yet been announced.

Dragobrat

Dragobrat is the highest ski resort in Ukraine (1300-1700 m above sea level). The height difference on its track is about 500 m. In addition to the ski slopes (1 blue, 3 black and 5 red), there are special jumps for freestyle international class.

crowberry

This artificial ski resort, located in the Cherkasy region, was created by Austrian, Russian and Ukrainian architects. The length of the ski slopes is 2,000 km, for snowboarders there is a park with three lines of jumps and a half-pipe.

Protasov Yar

Protasov Yar is located almost in the center of the capital of Ukraine. The ski complex has 4 slopes for skiers and snowboarders of different difficulty levels: 275 m with a height difference of 60 m (for beginners), a combined track with a length of about 500 m with a height difference of 60-80 m, 320 m with a height difference of 80 m (certified by the International ski federation FIS) and a training track 150 m long.

Verkhovyna

The ski resort Verkhovyna is located on the banks of the Black Cheremosh River. It’s not worth going here specifically to go skiing, since there is only one track in the village, and even that one is for beginners. However, it is ideal for beginners.

Plai ski resort is located in the Carpathians

Near the village of "Plavye" of the Lviv region in Ukraine there is a ski base Play.

The resort has been operating since 2007 and from year to year it improves and develops.

Now Play is acquiring the clear features of a powerful modern facility. The resort already has a second name - "little Bukovel", which indicates its resemblance to a popular recreation center.

Average temperatures and skiing season

In the resort area, air temperatures in winter are quite mild - not lower than 15 ° C, which is due to the low location in the Carpathians.

The trails run along the slopes of the mountains "Flint" and "Plai", the upper areas of which are steeper than the lower ones.

There are also trails for training (mainly in the lower regions of the mountain ranges) and more complex and extreme ones. The latter are located on the steep tops of the slopes.

To maintain good and safe ski coverage, snow groomers operate regularly in the resort. In case of lack of snow, snow cannons are launched.

The snowpark is equipped with a sufficient number of structures for extreme snowboarders, the quality of which is regularly monitored and maintained.

Lifts.

Among the 4 lifts there is a 350-meter baby lift, a multi-lift tow bar (also 350 m) and 2 chairlifts 1 km long.

The lifts are open from 9 am to 5 pm. There are queues at the peak of the ski season, but they are not long-term - up to 5 minutes.

Ski school.

At the resort you can get instructions from professional instructors. Classes are held in groups or individually.

Masters teach both "from scratch" - children and adults - and guests who already have experience in skiing.

In Playa, skiers and snowboarders train and improve their skills.

Leisure activities and Après-ski

Plai offers tourists a wide variety of options for entertainment, recreation, both active and cultural and introductory.

"Carpathian Grad" is located next to the ancient church of the Archangel Michael (1888), which is also a landmark of Playa.

3. On the way to the neighboring resorts of Podobovets and Pylypets, do not miss the most beautiful natural site "Shipot" - a waterfall 47 km from Playa. There is only 3 km between the waterfall and neighboring resorts.

Among the many food establishments in the resort, tourists speak flatteringly about the following:

1. "At the Owner's" is an eco-oriented restaurant. Here, chefs cook exclusively from the purest, natural products from Carpathian farms. Dishes "At the Owner's" are the embodiment of homely cozy cuisine and warmth.
2. Luxury restaurant with refined style and the name - "Carpathian Rose". Here, both Hutsul and foreign cuisine are in use.
3. In the center of Playa there are "Polonina" and "Verkhovyna" - restaurants with dishes of various cuisines and decoration close to nature.
4. "On the slope" - a bistro located 25 meters from the upper lift station. The cuisine here suits every taste, and the panoramas from the terrace are mesmerizingly picturesque.

The average cost of a room for 2 residents is about 600 hryvnia. Since the number of accommodation facilities in Playa is still small, if possible, we recommend booking a room in advance.

On a note: some tourists rented an apartment from local residents due to lack of places in the hotels of the resort. This type of placement is not uncommon.

It is not necessary to settle directly in Playa. There are similar resorts in the vicinity where you can quickly find a free room. So, next to the resort you can stay in:

Snowboarding and skiing lessons are provided individually or in a group. Individual training with an instructor will cost 250 UAH per hour, and training in a group - 200 UAH per hour.

Plai is located 200 meters from the Kyiv-Chop highway.

• If you go by train, then you need to get off at the Volovets or Skole stations. And then - a fixed-route taxi to Playa.
• By plane you can fly to Lviv, from where tourists get to Playa by charter bus. He goes to the turn to the village of Plavia. From Lviv to Playa about 140 km.
• It is easy to get to the resort by car on the highways. The most convenient and fastest route is from Lviv through the town of Skole, then turning to the village of "Kozeva" with the resort "Tysovets", drive from. "Oryava", and then follows the turn to Plavia, where the resort is located.

One of the fastest growing mountain resorts in Ukraine is located in the village of Plavia, Lviv region. The Play resort has recently begun to expand and improve at a rapid pace, which has attracted tourists here. The height difference in the resort is about 400 meters (the village itself is located at an altitude of 600 meters, and the upper lift stations are at an altitude of 1060 meters). The upper segment is steeper and has high level pistes. At the bottom, slopes for beginners are concentrated - there are gentle slopes.

Plans for the Play ski resort are very ambitious. The creators want to build a resort that could successfully compete with the famous Bukovel, and would also function all year round. Among other innovations, it is planned to create a museum, an indoor swimming pool, a bowling alley, a SPA center, lay horse, bicycle and hiking trails. In addition, the organizers are going to keep prices at the current level (which is several times less than in more popular complexes).

Play's main slopes

The Play ski resort has so far only 6 main equipped slopes. However, their level is quite high, which allows the GC to compete with its neighbors.

All trails are processed by snow groomers, which compact the snow cover to a flat road. Snow cannons also work here, allowing you to ride even after the snow season.

There are 2 ski lifts in total at Play Ski Resort. Their type is chairlift, the number of seats in the cabin is 4. The total length of each lift is 1 kilometer. In addition to standard lifts, there is 1 multi-rope lift 350 meters long and 1 baby lift 350 meters long.

Accommodation and prices for holidays in the ski resort of Plai

The convenience of the Play ski resort is that all the hotels are located very close to the mountain slope. Holidays in 2018-2019 will cost visitors 600 hryvnia per hotel room. In private cottages, prices are lower - from 350 hryvnia. In the villages nearby, prices are even lower (from 250 hryvnia for a hotel room).

How to get there

The complex is located next to the Kyiv-Chop highway. The nearest village is the village of Plavia (directly near the complex). By train you can get to the Skole or Volovets railway stations. From there, by bus or minibus, you will need to get directly to the village of Plavia. If you drive your own car, the route will look like this: Skole - Kozeva - Oryava - Plavia.

Near the GC "Play" there is a highway of international importance Kyiv - Chop, so it is very easy to get there by car. It takes about 20 minutes to go from Skole to Playa.

• by train

get to Skole by any train that goes to Uzhgorod. Taxi from Skole to GC "Play" costs 250 gr.

• from Lviv

You can get to Lviv and transfer to a minibus that goes to Transcarpathia along the Kyiv-Chop highway. Travel by minibus from Lviv will cost about 100 gr.

• You can also take any regular bus that goes along the Kyiv-Chop highway.

• Play Motel

Located right next to the highway Kyiv - Chop. The road to the ski lift will take about 7-10 minutes. It is necessary to cross the track and climb up the slope to the territory of the complex.

The motel is not bad, the room has everything you need, but walking every day about 100 meters up the slope is not very convenient.

The room rate includes breakfast in the restaurant, which is located on the ground floor of the motel. Breakfast includes tea or skin (brewed coffee is simply poured with boiling water), bread, butter and cheese. You can also choose to order fried eggs from 2 eggs with bacon or pancakes with cottage cheese, served with sour cream and jam. Eating the same thing over and over for 3-4 days quickly gets boring.

Standard double room price: 800 -1300 UAH depending on the season

• Hotel "Play"

The hotel is practically no different from the motel, but is already on the territory of the complex. There are sports and spa complexes nearby, and it takes 3-5 minutes to go to the ski lift.

Rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors with a balcony, and on the 3rd floor, attic-type rooms, which are cheaper. The rooms have mini perfumes and hair dryers. There is free wi-fi in all rooms, but it works badly.

The price includes breakfast, which is served in the restaurant "Verkhovyna". The restaurant is located directly opposite the hotel.

Breakfast includes tea or coffee (from the coffee machine), bread, butter and cheese. They offer a choice of oatmeal, from hot - scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs (with cheese, vegetables or bacon), sausages, and for dessert - pancakes with cottage cheese or poppy seeds (but they almost never have the latter).

Cost of living in a standard room: 900 -1650 UAH depending on the season

• Hotel "Poruch"

The hotel appeared only this year and is located right next to the lower lift station. The hotel is located in the same building as the bistro cafe, but on the second floor.

Cost of living in a double room: 600 - 800 UAH

• Hotel "Karpatska Ruzha"

A large 6-storey luxury hotel, which is located on the territory of the complex. The hotel has only 2 or 3 rooms and there is a room even for people with disabilities.

The hotel has its own SPA center, gym, ski storage and drying room. The rooms have a bathrobe, slippers, a set of hotel perfumes and a minibar. The floors in the rooms are heated.

The cost of living in a 2-room suite: 2400 - 4400 UAH depending on the season.

The complex offers rental of skis, snowboards and other equipment. In the same place, for a fee, you can rent a left-luggage office (large cell - 30 UAH, small - 20 UAH).

The ski kit includes skis, bindings, boots and poles. All sets are divided into 3 categories: A, B, C, depending on the condition and, accordingly, the price of the set.

Skis, of course, already worn and shabby. While you are learning to ride, you don’t notice much difference, but then I took kit B.

Kits B and A come with Fisher skis in good condition with a sharp edge. I advise you not to save money and take immediately the set B.

The complex has a ski school where instructors will teach you how to ski or snowboard. Training is carried out individually, in small groups (2-3 people) and large groups (5-8 people).

I advise you not to take group training, because it is much more effective to work out 1 hour with an instructor individually.

○● Lifts, map of slopes and tracks ○●

The ski resort "Play" has blue, red and black slopes, which are served by 1 ski lift and 2 lifts. On weekdays, one lift and a tow bar operate, and the second lift also runs on weekends. Usually there were no queues for the lift on weekdays, but this year I had to stand in line for 3 minutes.

Everyone mostly rides on the wide central track. The extreme right track is very narrow, and therefore well suited for high-speed descents. The tracks are open until 17.00. After the track is closed, the slopes are prepared for the next day with the help of retraces. If there is not enough snow, then artificial snow is used on the tracks.

At the top of the mountain, a real winter fairy tale and a stunning view opens up.

Cafe-bistro "On the slope"

Cafe-bistro with self-service system. Food is sold by weight and all prices are per 100g. The prices are not the cheapest... a plate of 250 gr borscht will cost 45 UAH, 100 gr French fries - 18 UAH, meat - about 35 UAH per 100 gr. Espresso at the bar 22 UAH, and a cup of mulled wine - 28 UAH.

We usually rank for lunch - a pot of meat, potatoes and vegetables (similar to roast) for 50 UAH (about 300 gr).

Restaurant "Verkhovyna"

located on the territory of the complex near the hotel "Play". Prices are almost exactly the same as in a bistro cafe, but the range of dishes is varied. The only drawback is that ski boots are not allowed there, so only a bistro cafe remains between climbs....

There is also a cafe on the territory of the hotel "Karpatska Ruzha" and an eco-restaurant "At the Gospodar".

○● Entertainment ○●

• On the territory of the Play Group there are sports and spa centers, bowling, billiards and discos. For children there is an entertaining playroom.

Of all the entertainment, we most liked the large and modern Spa center "Saffron"

On 3 floors of the SPA center there are swimming pools, a jacuzzi, saunas, SPA rooms and a bar.

A large entertainment pool 20 meters long (5 jacuzzis around the perimeter), a children's pool with a slide and a two-lane sports pool 25 meters long.

There are several types of saunas in the basement:

• roman sauna
• Finnish sauna
• Russian bath
• cedar bio-sauna
• infrared sauna
• salt room
• ice room

There is also a large lounge where you can lie on the sun loungers with relaxing music.

The SPA center has spacious dressing rooms with everything you need. There are free safes for storing valuables, hair dryers, give out a towel. The changing room and showers are clean.

You only need to take interchangeable shoes with you, but if there is none, then you can buy flip flops or a swimsuit in the store, which is located in the lobby. By the way, the prices are quite reasonable.

Prices: a subscription to the pool from 15.00-21.00 costs 200 UAH, and to the sauna - 250 UAH. But on weekdays there are not many people, so for several years in a row a sauna + pool subscription from 15.00-21.00 costs only 250 gr. The only drawback of such an economy subscription is that not all saunas work. When we were this year, the Roman and cedar saunas, the Russian bath and the ice room worked.

Conclusion:

Ski resort "Play" I can safely recommend. Especially it will appeal to beginners who do not yet know how to ride. Also "Play" is perfect for families with small children, because for them there is a separate area for skiing and a games room. What I like about Playa is that it is a large complex with its developed infrastructure, where everything is concentrated in one place, there are entertainment, cafes and restaurants.
