Postgraduate studies

Duration of training - 3 years. Students who successfully pass the final master's exams can continue their studies for another three years as part of the postgraduate department - in the research engineer program, as a result of which they can be awarded the qualifying degree of research engineer and the corresponding diploma. The most advanced graduate students can continue their research activities on the thesis of their PhD thesis. After successfully defending their candidate's thesis, they will be awarded the appropriate academic degree.

College (Associate's degree program)

Duration of training - 3 years. College students are distributed among university departments according to their specialties. Students who successfully pass the college's final examinations receive a qualifying associate's degree and diploma. College students who have only “4” and “5” grades in their certificates can continue their studies at a university bachelor’s degree without exams.

Department of Education of Foreign Citizens (OOIG)

Foreign citizens are trained at a bachelor's level (4 years) in all specialties available at the university, as well as under the graduate training program (5 years). Training is conducted in Armenian and English in the appropriate groups.

Admission to the JOIG is based on an interview.

For students of the paid department of ASIU, a wide range of discounts are provided, directly determined by both social status and academic performance. For example, with excellent academic performance, tuition fees can be reduced by 80%.

For children of university teachers enrolled in a paid department there is a 50% discount. In some cases, the university provides discounts for children from socially disadvantaged families at its own expense.

A number of Diaspora organizations as well as the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund provide personalized scholarships to students of particularly high academic achievement.

Computer systems and information science

The Department of Computer Systems and Informatics, being one of the leading departments of SEUA in terms of its importance and role, has the largest student population at the university.

As a department, it was formed in 1995 on the basis of the previously existing Faculty of Computer Science, which was formed as an independent unit in 1979, separating from the Faculty of Technical Cybernetics. The last date, however, is not the starting point for training personnel in the field of computer technology and information science. As such, it should be noted in 1961, when on the basis of the “Electrical Engineering Faculty” a separate faculty was formed called “Automation and Computer Engineering” (the first dean K. G. Abrahamyan), which in 1965 was renamed the Faculty of “Technical Cybernetics”.

The purpose of this faculty was to train engineering personnel, along with others, in the field of design, production and operation of computers to meet the growing needs for relevant specialists in the Republic and abroad, due to the rapid growth of the radio-electronic industry, in general, and computer technology, in particular. .

Currently, the department is implementing all five educational programs offered at SEUA: junior engineer, bachelor of engineering, certified specialist, master of engineering and research engineer.

Training is conducted in the following main specialties:

  • Computer software and automated systems (code 22.04);
  • Technology and organization of information security (code 22.06);
  • Computers, complexes, systems and networks (code 22.01);
  • Design and production of electronic computers (code 22.05);
  • Information systems by area of application (code 07.19).

For this purpose, the department has four graduating and one general education departments (sectors):

  • Computer Science
  • Mathematical support for computer systems
  • Automated design of electronic computers
  • Automated control systems
  • Algorithmic languages and programming

These departments combine a fairly powerful scientific and pedagogical potential in the person of a richly experienced teaching staff and young recruits. Currently, more than eighty highly qualified specialists teach here, including seven professors and thirty-eight associate professors, who pass on their knowledge and experience to more than a thousand students of the department enrolled in various educational programs. In particular, the largest number are students studying in the bachelor's program - more than 800 people. The rest comes mainly from the master's and research programs, since the number of students in the junior engineering program is relatively small, amounting to only about 50 people, with its relatively short three-year history. For more than ten years, the department has been teaching foreign students in English, the number of which has increased sharply over the past two years and currently exceeds 250 people. For a more complete picture, it should also be noted that more than 60 undergraduate and graduate students undergo the entire specialized educational block of subjects on the basis of the Armenian branch of the American JSC LEDA Systems, where the interdepartmental department of “Microelectronic Circuits and Systems” was organized and has been successfully operating for the third year.

The department, having a highly qualified faculty, naturally shows significant activity in the field of research work. The main research areas include the following:

  • Design and implementation of computer systems and networks;
  • Design and research of semiconductor devices and electronic computing components;
  • Artificial Intelligence and Coding Theory;
  • Research and design of dynamic systems;
  • Application of information technologies and mathematical research methods in medical and biological systems;
  • Technology for operating agents on the Internet;
  • Management of complex systems and methods of their decomposition;
  • Design of optimal portfolios of financial and banking systems and risk management, etc.

The Department is actively involved in strengthening the international relations of the University. This is carried out both through university-wide international programs and on the basis of personal contacts with foreign colleagues, using the capabilities of various funds and programs (Tempus-Tacis, Nato Science, NISCUPP, USAID, UNDP/GEF, INTAS, Euroasia, Eueromed, McArtur, ANSEF , SCOPES, etc.). As a result, in recent years, business ties have been established at various levels with a number of universities in countries such as the USA, Sweden, France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and the UK. Some of these programs significantly contribute to improving the level of the department's laboratory and computer base, thereby ensuring student training in accordance with educational standards.
