In 2012, the Kerch Commercial Sea Port celebrated the 190th anniversary of its foundation.

On October 10, 1821, the Russian Emperor Alexander signed a personal decree to the Senate on the opening of a port in Kerch, "... recognizing it as useful for improving our trade in the Black and Azov Seas ...". In 1821, the construction of the Big Harbor of the Kerch Bay was completed. In 1874-1877, the Kerch-Yenikale canal was built. In 1903, work began on deepening the canal and reconstructing the port, the New Genoese pier and the Wide pier were erected.

In the 20th century, much was done to expand passenger traffic and increase the volume of cargo transportation through the Kerch seaport. In the post-war period (1945-1947), the damaged hydraulic structures of the Shiroki Mole were restored in the seaport. Works on trawling and deepening of the channels of the port and harbor have been carried out. In the 60s of the 20th century, new 4th and 5th berths were built, and in the 70s the New Wide Mole, 6th and 7th berths were built. The Kerch port was equipped with a large fleet of new handling equipment, modern cranes and loaders were purchased. In the 80s of the 20th century, a large volume of foreign trade of the USSR with the countries of the Middle East, the Mediterranean and North Africa went through the Kerch port.

From 1969 to 1985, 4 deep-water berths were put into operation in the Kerch port, 18 new portal cranes were put into operation, 4 metal warehouses for cargo were mounted. In 1980, a deep-water berth No. 8 with a length of 212 meters was built and put into operation, capable of receiving a large-tonnage fleet.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Kerch seaport became the property of Ukraine, and the cargo traffic in the Kerch commercial seaport significantly decreased. The seaport requires not small investments, constant renovation of infrastructure, replacement of old equipment and mechanisms. In the foreground is the safety of navigation, transportation of goods, loading and unloading operations and cargo handling in the port. For these purposes, a ship traffic control station was built in the seaport, the fleet of pilot boats was significantly replenished, and anchorage No. 471 was equipped in the southern part of the Kerch Strait. At 43 anchorages, loading and unloading operations are carried out on dry cargo ships with a maximum draft of up to 18 meters. The capacity of the Kerch port has increased significantly since 2002, when three berths were restored and an industrial transshipment complex No. 2 was created, on the basis of which about 400 thousand tons of general and bulk cargo are processed.

In 2007, the construction of the Kerch-Poti-Batumi railway ferry complex was started in the seaport. According to the results of 2007, the Kerch Commercial Sea Port (KMTP) handled 4.9 million tons of cargo, which was the best indicator in its history. On April 3, 2009, the railway ferry began operating at full capacity, its cargo turnover exceeds 30,000 tons per month.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, in the first 9 months of 2011, the Kerch Commercial Sea Port achieved an increase in cargo handling volumes by 9.4%. KMTP has become a leader among Ukrainian ports in terms of the increase in the level of processing of transit cargo. In January-September 2011 CMTP handled 182.6% more cargo than in January-September 2010.

CMTP carried out a large amount of work to equip the infrastructure of the marine station in Kerch to resume passenger traffic between Kerch and Russian seaports. The Kerch port accepts cruise ships of foreign cruise companies.

In 2011, maritime traffic was resumed on the line "Port Kerch - Port Kavkaz". In 2008, a customs passenger checkpoint was built at KMTP. And from July 16, 2010 on the line "Port of Kerch - Port of the Caucasus" the boat "Rooftop Dispatcher" began to sail according to the schedule. Passengers from the Crimea can easily cross to the Taman coast and visit the resorts of the Caucasian coast of the Black and Azov Seas.

In 2012, negotiations continue between Ukraine and Russia to expand the maritime transport links between Crimea and Russia along the Anapa-City route.

The Russian side plans to introduce passenger transportation between Kerch and Sochi, Anapa, Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog.

The port specialists have developed a program for the development of the KMTP enterprise until 2015. The development program provides for measures to expand the capacity of the seaport by 2 times. Preservation of the infrastructure of the seaport, expansion of its capacity require constant funding, both from the state and from investors.

Probably the most common definition of Kerch is "port city". It is Kerch that now connects Crimea and mainland Russia - so far only through ports. Well, the most common profession among the people of Kerch is a sailor. Which, as in the old joke, "a girl is waiting in the port." It turns out that the life of most citizens is somehow connected with the ports. But do we know all of them?

Port Kamysh-Burun

This item came as a complete surprise to some of us. It turns out that in addition to the three well-known Kerch ports, there is one more, which is officially part of the State Unitary Enterprise Kamysh-Burun Production Company.

This is where the confusion begins. Judging by the reports of the regional media, this very company (more precisely, the plant for the production of concrete and cement), and with it the port, should have been reconstructed no later than last spring. The headlines of Internet publications were full of loud phrases that “The port of Kamysh-Burun will connect Crimea and Russia”, the administration of Kerch stated that investors began to invest in the port, and repairs were already in full swing ... But a year has passed. Rare mentions of Kamysh-Burun have disappeared from the press for good, and the city authorities no longer raise this topic. What happens to the port and for the benefit of whom it exists today is a mystery, because there is no information about it in the public domain.

Story

  • In 1775, Catherine II granted the Greeks the right to establish a settlement near the fortress of Kerch. They were promised the opening of a "free and free" port.

On the coast of the Kerch Strait, the coldest months are January and February. Most of the year, NE winds prevail, characterized by significant speed and duration. In summer, southerly winds are frequent. Winds with a speed of 21-24 m/s are rare. There are few calms.

Fogs are most frequent from November to March. Precipitation is more common from November to March-April. Thunderstorms are most likely from May to October - November, when on average there are up to 3-5 days with a thunderstorm per month.

The port is located on the shore of the Kerch Bay. The port approach channel departs from the Yenikalsky knee of the Kerch-Yenikalsky Canal (KEK) 1.1 miles to the ESE from Bely Cape and leads to the port's Shiroki Mole.

In addition to the internal water area, the port is allocated: the water area of ​​the approach channel 80 m wide with a security zone 100 m wide from the right and left edges of the canal; the water area of ​​the Kerch-Yenikalsky canal 120 m wide from buoy No. 1 to buoys No. 51, 52 with the Pavlovsky, Burunsky, Yenikalsky and Chushkinsky bends with a security zone 100 m wide from the right and left edges of the canal. The Kerch-Yenikalsky Canal is accessible for vessels up to 215 m long, with a draft of up to 8 m. Entry of vessels into the Kerch-Yenikalsky Canal during fogs, snowfall, haze, heavy rains, with a wind speed of more than 14 m/s is prohibited. In the Kerch Strait, there is a system for regulating the movement of ships along the KEK (Kerch-Yenikal Canal).

Vessels proceeding to the ports of the Kerch Strait and in transit through the Kerch-Yenikalsky Canal must use the services of the Vessel Traffic Control Center.

Vessel speed must not exceed:

  • throughout the Kerch-Yenikal Canal for ships with a draft of more than 5 m - 10 knots;
  • for ships with a draft of 5 m or less - 12 knots;
  • on the approach channel of KMTP - 7 knots.

The pilots of SE "Delta-pilot" carry out pilotage vessels to the port of Kerch, along the Kerch-Yenikalsky Canal and to all Ukrainian ports of the Sea of ​​Azov. Compulsory pilotage on KEC is established:

  • for CIS vessels flying the flag of Ukraine and the Russian Federation with a draft of more than 4.5 m or a length of 120 m or more;
  • for all ships in disrepair;
  • for ships, regardless of flag and departmental affiliation, following KEK;
  • when towing non-standard objects;
  • for passenger ships;
  • by decision of the captain of the State Enterprise "KMTP" - in other cases, if compulsory pilotage is necessary to ensure the safety of navigation in the Kerch-Yenikalsky Canal, the safety of floating warning signs (hereinafter referred to as PPZ).

Mandatory pilotage of vessels in the Sea of ​​Azov to the ports of Ukraine is established:

  • for all ships flying a foreign flag;
  • for ships in emergency condition;
  • for oil tankers and ships carrying dangerous goods;
  • for ships with a nuclear power plant;
  • for all vessels, regardless of location and draft, during the ice campaign on the Sea of ​​Azov;
  • for passenger ships.

An application for a pilot is submitted to the EMLS "Kerch" of the Autonomous Republic of Ukraine SE "Delta-pilot" with information about the approach. When leaving the port - 2 hours before departure.

Towing support.

To ensure the safety of turning vessels from KEK to the port approach channel and in the opposite direction, the use of tugs is mandatory for vessels with a draft of more than 6.5 m and a length of more than 100 m.

Anchorages.

Anchoring of vessels in the Kerch Strait is carried out within the boundaries of anchorages No. 450, 452, 453, 471.

Vessels with a draft of up to 8 m stop at berths No. 450, 453, the areas of which are limited by a circle with a radius of 6 cables.

Anchorage No. 471 is a customs control area of ​​the Kerch Sea Commercial Port and is intended for cargo operations. Anchorage No. 471 has 46 anchorages in three sub-areas.

Around the clock, oil-contaminated, bilge, fecal waters and dry garbage are received from ships calling at the port, as well as transiting through the Kerch Strait. The port has its own oil-contaminated water treatment and processing station.

Tariffs for acceptance by ships - collectors of bilge, fecal water and dry garbage, depending on the area of ​​acceptance (port / road) and the number of tons received, are 100 USD / m 3; dry garbage - 69.70 USD / container (0.75 m 3). Vessels entering the port can be supplied with drinking water around the clock. The cost of drinking water is 17.28 USD/m 3 . (It is delivered to the board of the ship by a non-self-propelled barge "Vodoley-9" with the help of tugs, so the cost of towing is included in the cost of water). Payment for tug services is made separately.

Vessels entering port of Kerch or the next transit through the Kerch Strait, a comprehensive service can be provided for agency services, provision of tugboats of any capacity, raid boats.

SPECIALIZATION

The port's capacities allow processing up to 2.5 million tons of cargo per year. The port is equipped with modern equipment, reloading machines and mechanisms that allow processing general cargo (metal products, equipment, etc.), bulk cargo (ferroalloys, cast iron, coke, coal, scrap metal, pellets, ore, etc.), containers, wheeled vehicles, grain in bulk.

The total area of ​​the port is 615328 m 2 , including production area - 564036 m 2 . There are two industrial transshipment complexes (PPC) in the port.

PPK-1 has 7 berths with a total length of 1431.96 m. Access railway tracks allow handling cargo along the front and behind the berths.

PPK-2 is located on the territory of 15.25 hectares in the water area Kerch Sea Fishing Port. The complex includes: berths No. 8, 9, 10; 2 blocks of covered warehouses with a total area of ​​4856 m 2 and more than 15,000 m 2 of open storage areas; access roads to berths No. 9, 10, as well as to their rear; auto- and railway weights.
