Many novice anglers, when purchasing winter equipment for fishing, experience financial difficulties when buying winter equipment. This is especially experienced by people of retirement age, residents of the rural hinterland and schoolchildren. But in many ways, you can alleviate your financial difficulties by deciding to make some fishing equipment yourself.

For example, a fishing box! In Soviet times, when the country "suffered" from a shortage in everything, many anglers themselves made this most important attribute of winter fishing. Most often, it was made from plywood, sawing out the necessary details (sidewalls, lid, bottom) and fastening them together with bars using nails. Almost at the same time, a method of making a box appeared, from a refrigerator freezer that had become unusable.

Today, old Soviet refrigerators are thrown into a landfill, replacing them with more modern and high-quality "units". For the case of a fishing box, a freezer removed from a worn-out Soviet refrigerator is perfect. It is only necessary to separate the tubes through which the freon gas went from the chamber and at your disposal is the finished body of the fishing box!

The bottom of the box is made from the required width of a wooden board of coniferous species (aspen can be used) with a thickness of 2-3 cm. For the penetration of melt water, especially in spring, between the walls of the case and the bottom, it is advisable to insert a sealing strip of rubber (from the bicycle chamber), pre-tighten the ends of the bottom with it and fix it to the walls of the case with screws, retreating from the edge of the bottom 3-5 cm.

The bottom must be covered with drying oil or paint from the outside. The protective layer of paint and the maintained distance (between the bottom and the ice) prevent the penetration of water into the box. It should only be remembered to carefully free the place for the box on the ice from snow.

The lid of the box is cut out of thick plywood. Having given the workpiece the desired shape, one should take into account a small overlap in front and on the sides of the future cover. Then a sponge (from a tractor or car seat) is laid on the workpiece and covered with a tarpaulin. With the help of a furniture stapler, the edges of the tarpaulin are fixed to the plywood, to the underside of the cover. The resulting cover should be connected to the body with small hinges or a tape hinge using screws. A small bar should be attached to the inside of the case, into which the screws connecting the hinges will cut.

In the fishing box, additional compartments are needed (for gear, prey, products), which are easy to make from scraps of the board. Having cut to the required dimensions and processed the blanks, they should be placed vertically in the body and fixed to the walls with screws.

To carry the box, you will need a strong and preferably wide strap. It is fixed to the sides of the box with small bolts, having previously made holes in the sides.

The fishing box is ready! Its duralumin base gives the box lightness, which is very important for large transitions and an aesthetic appearance. It is quite strong and durable and, of course, economical - in terms of acquisition.

Good weather and winter fishing!

Last season, before the start of winter fishing, I made a box for tackle and accessories with my own hands from plywood. The use of such a fishing box on a pond revealed one, but a significant drawback - it simply turned out to be too heavy. After talking with familiar fishermen, I realized for myself that the best option would be a homemade box from the freezer from the old refrigerator.

I have seen such boxes on the reservoir at the fishermen more than once, and I can imagine how they look. Therefore, I decided that this idea and manufacturing technology was the most acceptable option for me. So, how to make a convenient and lightweight box.

I found an old, unnecessary refrigerator, took out a freezer from it, and then, as they say, it’s a matter of technology.

The lid of the fishing box was made from a simple piece of plywood. All connections, well almost all, are made with aluminum rivets. It remains only to attach insulation to the cover - polystyrene foam or polyurethane foam and cover it with cloth.

It stores all the winter gear, and the catch is not rare either, although it makes little sense to store the catch in it, if only there is a desire to stain it badly. After all, the catch can be put in a bag. The price tag for such a box in fishing stores is sometimes biting. Therefore, we will consider one good option for a homemade fishing box. The weight of the box that is presented in this article does not exceed 3 kg, and it looks quite nice.

Cut out a lid from a sheet of plywood. Cut out so that it protrudes 2-4 mm from all sides.

We make the bottom from a piece of tin, or the same chamber, and fasten it to the bolts (if you eat a riveter, it’s better to rivet it). We fasten the lid with the help of hinges.

From the inside we paste over the box with building insulation. Of course, you can do without it, but you will agree with it nicer. And glue the foam rubber to the lid.

We sew a cover and fit our almost finished box. Do not forget to put foam rubber on the lid.

We fasten a pair of holders for pvc pipes to one of the walls, they hold the fishing rods very well.

In the corner we fasten the holder for the thermos. For this, a pvc pipe holder for sewerage is perfect. But you can think of any other ring.

The fishing box is an indispensable attribute when catching fish in the winter. Here the fisherman puts everything necessary for fishing, and there may also be a thermos with hot tea. In addition, the fishing box can be made heated, this will be another good bonus.
If the task was to make a fishing box for fishing in the winter, then the freezer from the old refrigerator is best suited for these purposes. Let's take a closer look at how to make such a box.

Tools and materials:
- freezer (suitable from an old Soviet refrigerator);
- self-tapping screws;
- a piece of plywood to create the lid and bottom of the box;
- drill with drills;
- a jigsaw or other suitable cutting tool;
- two hinges for fixing the cover;
- 4 bolts type M5;
- a piece of steel wire to create handles and a belt.

Step 1. Create the bottom of the box
Having pulled the camera out of the freezer, we proceed to create the bottom of the box. For these purposes, you can use various materials, including sheet steel. The author had a piece of plywood at hand, and he decided to make the bottom and the lid out of it.
To create the bottom of the freezer, you need to put it on plywood and circle it with a pencil. You need to cut the bottom so that it goes into the freezer, that is, you need to make it a couple of millimeters smaller than it was drawn.

When the bottom is cut out, it is inserted into the chamber and fastened with 6-10 self-tapping screws. So, in the wide part of the box, you can screw in 3 screws, and in the narrow part, 2.
Surely many people know that plywood has such an unpleasant property as delamination when wet. To prevent this from happening, the plywood must be thoroughly varnished on all sides in 2-3 layers. You also need to pay attention to the docking points of the box and plywood. They must be carefully sealed with a sealant or hot melt adhesive.
