Mui Ne white dunes. A piece of desert at a surf resort: white and red dunes in Mui Ne. White dunes of Mui Ne, how to get there

Today we will go over two famous natural attractions of the Vietnamese village of Mui Ne (or Mui Ne, or Mui ne).

We start from the red sand dunes, which are located right next to Mui Ne, literally 10 minutes by taxi or moped (10 km). It is advised to come there at sunset, because the already red sand begins to shimmer with orange colors.
This is true:

Here is the sunset and the people waiting for it. But because of the proximity to the village - there are a lot of people there, especially at sunset.

The attraction is free. But on the sands themselves, cunning Vietnamese came up with an attraction - riding from the dunes on sheets of plastic (or something similar). And they climb into your frame with their sheets:

People seem to be standing at the crater of a volcano. Good, right?:

And of course a photo from a quadrocopter. The height is about 200 meters. Red dunes from above:

Over there - Mui Ne and the beaches:

In general, the sand can be both pink and orange at the same time, depending on the lighting.

People on the tops of the sands:

Red Dunes Point on Google Map

And this photo is a comparison of the Red Dunes and the White Dunes. The red sand is bright orange and very fine. Plus the wind adds to the fun - sand is everywhere. And in the mouth, and in the most secluded places. Walking along it is also quite difficult, you drown. In the White Dunes, the sand is larger and easier to move around, and all secluded places remain secluded))):

To the White Dunes (Whate sand dunes or Đồi cát bay) go much further (30 kilometers from the village). There is a recommendation to go there at dawn to capture the stunning views. But we couldn't get up at 4 in the morning, pick up the baby and rush to the Dunes. Therefore, we also saw the white dunes at sunset:

I walk on the sands with a baby behind my back:

Here, cunning Vietnamese came up with another entertainment - quad biking. And yes, these dunes are quite large. The territory is huge. And walk to the beautiful peaks from the parking lot for about an hour. We decided to take an open UAZ. For three adults and two babies, the cost was 600,000 dong. He takes us to the most interesting places, leaves for 20 minutes, then picks up. A quad bike costs 500 - 700,000 VND per one. Well, or how you bargain.

Still ATVs drive from the tops. very scary:

There are really few people, or they are not so crowded on large area dunes. Therefore, you can arrange different photo shoots:

There is also a lake in the sands. It should probably be with lotuses, according to guidebooks on the Internet. In our time (December - January) lotuses were not observed:

Well, the white dunes from the quadrocopter:

More beautiful dunes.

If tourists have already had enough of the wonders of nature they saw in different countries, and they are firmly convinced that they cannot be surprised, then such travelers should go to Vietnam and take a walk, wide-eyed with amazement, along the incredible natural attraction of this country - the White Dunes.

Fantastic landscapes, sloping hills and steep depressions await in the boundless, covered with pale yellow, airy brown and milky white pure fine sand of the desert plain. All tourists who have visited the White Dunes admit that this corner of nature makes a strong, unforgettable impression.

Geography

The white dunes are located thirty kilometers from the small village of Mui Ne and the length of this small Vietnamese "Sahara" is slightly more than ten kilometers. Relief of unimaginable beauty sand dunes was created by a strong wind, because only this a natural phenomenon able from the thickness of the huge sand massif create such amazing and unusual shapes.

Although the dunes were called white, this classification is conditional, the sandy mountains can, depending on the position of the sun in the sky, take on different colors - brown, wheat and amber, but the dunes become most beautiful in their color at dawn, when the hills consisting of sand become pink, bright white and amber-yellow.

A small picturesque oasis is hidden among the sands painted with a bizarre color - Lotus Lake, overgrown with these beautiful flowers with pale pink petals. After a walk in a small desert, it is so nice to dip your hands into the cool water or ride on its smooth surface in a boat. If you wish, you can leave a bouquet of lotuses for yourself, then he will have to turn to the locals for help, since he will not be able to pick a flower on his own - the buds sit firmly on fairly sharp stems, and for a nominal fee, the flowers will be quickly collected by residents into a tender and fragrant bouquet. Lotuses bloom on the lake in autumn and winter.

The white dunes are far from the well-studied tourist areas of Vietnam, and many travelers do not reach this attraction, mistaking other formations for it. Therefore, it is advisable to use excursion programs, which includes a visit to the White Dunes and Lotus Lake.

You can drive up to the dunes from any direction, but tourists who have visited the White Dunes recommend stopping at a small conditional camp located in the southern part of the Vietnamese "desert", which is a place equipped for parking. The camp, which costs 20,000 dong to enter, offers travelers secure parking, coffee and snacks at a small cafe, and quad biking. For 20 minutes of riding a small quad bike, you will need to pay 200 thousand dong, a trip on a large quad bike will cost 400 thousand dong.

Arrays of sand in some cases have an angle of up to 70 degrees, and everyone can slide down such original slides with great speed, sitting on a cardboard or plastic likeness of ice, which you can make yourself or buy for a small price from local kids.

The best photos of the White Dunes are taken when the sun either just rises above the horizon, or when it is about to disappear behind the sand, leaving a dark veil of night on the ground.

Particular attention must be paid to the choice of shoes, they should be suitable for walking on the sands, but experienced tourists It is generally recommended to take off your shoes and enjoy the beauty of the dunes barefoot.

How to get there and where to stay

The most convenient way to get to the White Dunes is by rented transport. Most often, a moped is rented, but it is also possible to successfully get to the dunes on rented cars. Tourists who are not alien to a sports lifestyle get to the magnificent sandy massifs on bicycles. To go to the White Dunes, you need to have a map or a navigator with you, and, of course, do not be shy about asking the Vietnamese living in these places for directions.

If you order a taxi from Ho Chi Minh City, then the trip, regardless of the number of passengers, will cost 100-150 dollars.

The safest way not to get lost is to visit the amazing landmark of Vietnam by ordering an excursion from a travel agency, which costs from $ 10, especially since some excursions include jeep riding on the sands of the White Dunes.

You can stay in the guesthouses built in Mui Ne, which have a minimum service, although they provide air conditioning and a bathroom. Guesthouses will cost only 15-25 dollars for two people.

Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are one of the most popular resorts holiday in Vietnam. There was a separate article about these towns. Be sure to read it so as not to make a fatal mistake when choosing a place to stay in Vietnam:

And this article is about what to see in the vicinity of Mui Ne (Phan Thiet), if fate wanted to bring you to the south of Vietnam.

I already wrote about, which are literally five kilometers from the resort, and today an article about another attraction of Vietnam - the White Dunes of Mui Ne. They differ from the red sand, are much further from Mui Ne, but, in my opinion, are much more spectacular.

White dunes are hills of white sand about 70-80 meters high and about 10 km in area. Are far from resort area Phan Thiet (35 km) is therefore not as popular as the red dunes.

If you have already decided to get out into the desert, then it is better to spend an extra two hours and go not only to the red, but also to the white sands. There are almost no people there, and the area of sand formations is quite large. It seems that you are in the Sahara, and not in the south of Vietnam.

You have to climb on your haunches with the help of legs and arms

From the parking lot of the bike to the White Dunes, you need to walk about 10-15 minutes.

On the way we admire the Lotus Lake

You can rent a quad bike and drive on the hills on it.

I really liked the White Dunes of Phan Thiet. I have long wanted to see the desert again, and the wish finally came true in Vietnam. I'm lying on the sand, bastard:

It is important to know:

1. If you go to the White Dunes in the place where the signs on the road lead (from the south of the sandy massif), then the entrance there is paid - 20,000 dong for two. You can park your bike there.

2. During the day, the sand is hot, it is better to cover the body. Long pants and an off-the-shoulder T-shirt are more suitable than a swimsuit.

3. Be sure to take a hat, sunscreen, glasses and a bottle of water.

White dunes of Mui Ne, how to get there?

Type in White Sand Dunes Muine in Google, you will immediately be given the location. The white dunes are located 35 km from the center of Mui Ne. You need to go towards the fishing village and further north along the coast.

There is no public transport, but you can buy a tour in the resort area. The most convenient way to get there is by bike. The round trip takes a little more than an hour. First we go along the highway along the sea

Road to the White Dunes along the coast

If you are in Mui Ne for kitesurfing, you can take a kite with you. Somewhere in the middle of the way to the white dunes, you can go to the beach, where many ride

Part of the way (a couple of kilometers) will need to drive along the sand along the Lotus Lake.

In the next article I will talk about the resort of Mui Ne and Phan Thiet in the south of Vietnam. Finally, a video where I am in a strange headdress, but without sunstroke. Please be understanding :)

Holidays in the south of Vietnam will be different from the noisy and active Nha Trang. Still, Phan Thiet / Mui Ne is a calmer resort.

Probably, Mui Ne is associated with many fishermen and fishing village, but Phan Thiet with white and red dunes. As promised in this article, I will tell you about the dunes, the red canyon and the lotus lake.

The closest to Mui Ne of the above are red dunes, start immediately after the fishing village (at main road). For quick search use google maps with the query Red Sand Dunes. These are sandy hills, the height of which reaches 50 meters. The very name of the dunes beckons to look at their color with your own eyes. Moreover, the red dunes are only 5 minutes drive from Mui Ne.

The dunes are actually not that red, but at certain times of the day they can acquire a bright and saturated color. For example, at dawn or sunset, but at this time, many tourists come to see them. During the day, the dunes are quite orange.

Local kids (beginning businessmen) will offer you to ride in the mountains on a "sleigh". In fact, it looks more like a piece of linoleum. The guys who tried were satisfied, but we were in the wrong clothes

The Red Dunes can also be reached by city bus number 1, taxi or bike.

Then we went to the White Dunes, which are located 30-35 km from Mui Ne. On the way to them we stopped at. Its dimensions are, of course, very modest, and if it were not for the banner on the road, we would have easily passed it.

Most of all, the rock inscriptions on the canyon, written in a great and powerful language, narrated about the intellectual development of individuals, surprised me the most. I don’t like it when people take and spoil something, and even in a foreign country. All this is wrong.

The Red Canyon stretches towards the coast for 2 kilometers, and theoretically, along its bottom one could reach the very coast.

The stop near the canyon was only 10-15 minutes. This time is enough to go down to the bottom of the canyon and take some photos. By the way, there is a slight similarity between the canyon and Fairy Creek, the only difference is the lack of water. So you should make a stop at this place. The canyon is really red.

What struck me the most white dunes. A good paved road has recently been made to the dunes. Previously, you had to drive on a dirt road, which was very inconvenient and tiring.

After paying 10,000 dong per person for entry, a breathtaking picture opened up before us: blue sky, White sand and the feeling that you are somewhere in the desert. The white dunes are somewhat reminiscent of huge snowdrifts. Walking along the dunes, I remembered my trip on a jeep safari in Dubai.

The White Dunes, compared to the Red Dunes, are really big. The length of these dunes exceeds 10 kilometers. Along the entire length, you can see sand figures that are completely different in shape and height, which were formed with the help of the wind. Next to the dunes is Lotus lake. Its dimensions are small, and in January we did not find it in its full beauty. It is best to come to see lotuses early in the morning, during the day the flowers close.

ATV rides are organized along the dunes.

Due to the remoteness of the White Dunes from the city, many tourists simply do not get here. I saw that they organize excursions here. You can get to the White Dunes on your own by taxi. The fare in both directions will be about 500,000 - 700,000 dong (22-30 dollars). At the same time, you and the taxi driver will be able to discuss your route, or rather show on the map or name the places you want to visit.

But in all South-East Asia due to the unique local climate.

The configuration of the wind rose and undercurrents here is such that it leads to the appearance strong wind constantly blowing towards the coast. This wind causes steady and high waves, which are highly valued among windsurfers and adrenaline kitesurfers .

Also, the unceasing wind in Mui Ne created unique natural formations: Red and White Dunes. For thousands of years, tons of sand have been blown off local beaches and settled on several sections of the coast, gradually forming two local deserts with high dunes.

Interesting! They look so atypical and surprising among the local jungle vegetation that people who first got there have the impression that they found themselves in the Sahara or the Gobi Desert.

How to get there, how much it will cost and what to expect from such a trip in general, is described in detail in this article.

Excursions

Fascinating excursions for vacationers and travelers in 350 cities of the world: Tripster.ru - a service of unusual excursions from local residents and guides who can tell in an interesting and exciting way about the most interesting things in their cities.

red dunes

These dunes have several names: red, pink, gold, orange, yellow and even sunny. But on maps, tourist booklets and guides, they are indicated as red. They occupy a more modest area than the white dunes, but no less beautiful.

It is worth noting that in fact the local sands are not red at all, but rather orange or deep yellow. But at dawn or at sunset, for half an hour they acquire a bright crimson hue that can amaze even the indifferent to natural beauties person.

In addition to walking among the dunes, tourists can entertain themselves skiing from the sandy mountains. Props for such a trip in the form of a sledge upholstered in linoleum or basins can be rented from local children who come here every day to have fun.

Payment for renting a "sports equipment" is modest and amounts to only a couple of thousand dong or $ 0.5-1 dollars. Although small "rentalers" can insistently demand a large amount.

Important! While skiing or taking pictures, it is not recommended to leave valuables under the supervision of local children, as they are able to steal them from a gullible tourist.

Not far from the dunes on the city side there are several cafes where you can have a bite to eat and drink, as well as use the toilet or secure parking (the latter factor is especially important for owners of rented bikes).

Where are they?

The Red Dunes are located in the northeast of Mui Ne, just 3.5 km from the city center, just behind the largest suburban street (freeway): Vo Nguyen Giap. To get there, just cross this road.

The cost of visiting is completely free. You will only have to pay for the fare, and even then if you are too lazy to go there on foot.

Reference! In order to fully enjoy the beauties of this place and take beautiful pictures, you should visit it during sunset. But it is recommended to arrive there at least half an hour before sunset and take a secluded place somewhere on the northern edge of the dunes. Otherwise, hundreds of other tourists taking pictures will fall into the frame. You can still get there before sunrise, but then the color of the sand will be golden, not crimson.

white dunes

The White Dunes are the most Mui Ne famous landmark and perhaps the entire province, mainly because their landscape is almost identical to that of the Sahara.

The little desert takes quite large area and has length over 10 km, and is also far from the resort area of Mui Ne. Therefore, here you will not meet crowds of tourists with cameras that spoil the frame.

Important! Most of them are traveling on their own vehicles, which, due to inexperience, do not reach the White Dunes at all, mistaking ordinary sand formations along the way for them. You need to drive more than 30 km to full-fledged white dunes.

If there is no desire to walk around this area, then you can take a picture of the dunes from the road, from where it also opens great view on nature. But to get more experience, it is recommended walk deep into the miniature desert to be amazed by the contrast compared to the usual evergreen and luscious nature of Vietnam.

Also in the remote corners of the desert, you can make plenty of photos without unnecessary attention from other tourists.

Note! As in the case of the Red Dunes, it is better to come here before sunset or at dawn, when the sand turns into unusual colors.

Experienced tourists who have been there, and local guides, it is recommended to leave the rented vehicle in paid parking lots, which are located in the southern part of the dunes. Otherwise, vehicles can be found with a flat tire or some kind of hooligan trick. Thus, paid parking with the help of local "teach a lesson" thrifty tourists.

Entrance to the parking lot costs about 20,000 VND ($1).

A small rental station on the southern part of the dunes houses several cafes and offices travel companies. Here you can rent an ATV, an enduro bike or even a buggy to ride on the sand dunes.

The cost of riding 20 minutes on a small quad bike is from 200,000 dong ($ 17), on a large one - from 400,000. rental time.

Not far from the rental station is one of lotus lakes, which is also worth a look if necessary.

Where are they?

The White Dunes are located on northeast of Mui Ne, 30 km from the village. Therefore, walking there or taking a cheap bus, as in the case of the Red Dunes, will not work.

How to get there?

One highway leads to the White Dunes from Mui Ne along the coast. If you plan to go there on your own, then during the trip you need to use a navigator, or a map of the area purchased at any local gas station.

Unknowing people may not reach the dunes at all, mistaking for them the usual sandy hills that are visible from the highway. To get to the White Dunes, you need to be in a certain place turn off the highway to the right onto a dirt road that leads to the rental base.

You can also take advantage of a $10 Minivan tour or a $30 trip from Mui Ne in an open top jeep. In the latter case, the SUV will drive passengers along the dunes for a couple of hours.

Cost of visiting

Access to the dunes is completely free, but you will have to pay for parking at the rental base.

Reference! All coastline along the White Dunes consists of tens of kilometers of wild sandy beaches where not a single living soul is usually found. This perfect place For wild recreation away from civilization or nudism.
