Blessed Optina is a shrine of Russia, a fertile place where the soul rests. On the high bank of God's river Zhizdra, in the forest near Kozelsk, this spiritual flower garden is hidden.

Hotels near Optina Pustyn Monastery - Hotels near Optina Pustyn Monastery

Here the Lord calls every Russian Orthodox person, be it the Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna, the future martyr, the great writers Dostoevsky or Gogol, the philosopher-diplomat Konstantin Leontiev, the brilliant military colonel Plikhankov - the future elder Varsonofy. Absolutely simple people: a native of the priesthood Alexander Grenkov, who became the great elder Ambrose in Optina, or Nikolai Tikhonov, a native of a poor working-class family, who flourished in the Optina eldership as the God-wise Nectarius. And now outstanding people and simpletons aspire to Optina, and everyone finds here spiritual consolation and a fertile atmosphere, reminiscent of Paradise and Eternal Life.

I want to come to Optina and live for at least a few days. And today there is such an opportunity. Someone more ascetic finds shelter in a strict Optina hotel, where the monastic charter dominates. But even those who do not feel the determination to such strict feats can find shelter in our guest house"Visiting Optina". The tradition of guest houses near Optina is quite ancient. From time immemorial, local residents hospitably welcomed pilgrims, and some guests of Optina stayed here for years. If you leave the northern gate of Optina, then ten meters on the right side of the street. Lermontov, we will see a small mansion in which the Nilus family lived. They rented this house from the monastery and, perhaps, it was one of the first guest houses in Optina Posad. If you walk along st. Lermontov past the Nilus house a little further and turn right at the house, decorated with carved platbands - st.

Lermontova d. 20-B, then after 25 meters, passing along the road that runs along the outskirts of the forest, immediately behind the green fence, near the century-old oak, next to pine forest, our guest house "Visiting Optina" is waiting for you.

Our house is called "guest house" for a reason. Here you will find the atmosphere of home comfort. The entire second floor is given to guests, the owners live downstairs. According to the old Russian tradition, the second floor is called the upper room - i.e. floor high, high. The upper room has its own entrance inside the house, so that the owners will not embarrass the guests. In the upper room you will find a fully equipped kitchen (electric stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishes, in general, everything is like at home), two bathrooms (one with a shower) and 5 rooms for one, two, three, four guests. Our house has recently opened, all the rooms are clean, brand new, the rooms have everything you need. We are cozy, comfortable, clean and quiet. The custom of life in our house is like in the Greek arkhandariki: no one bothers the guests to relax, have a snack, take a shower. There are no hard and fast rules. Guests have their own key not only to the room, but also to the front door. Naturally, smoking or anything like that is not approved. Near the house there is a place for parking cars.

We are waiting for you to visit us. And most importantly - visit Optina, her holy elders, miraculous icons and prayers of grace.

The owner of the house is Lyudmila.

Optina Hermitage is located far from the city: only a small village adjoins the monastery. This factor explains some of the limitations in accommodation options. Pilgrims have the following options:

  • pilgrimage hotel;
  • guest five-room houses;
  • settlement on the territory of the St. John the Baptist skete (only for men);
  • hotel for clergy on the territory of the monastery;
  • rental housing local residents.

Each of the above options has its own advantages and disadvantages. The choice will be determined by your personal preferences, financial capabilities, the purpose of the trip and the influx of pilgrims on the day of arrival.

Pilgrimage hotel

The pilgrimage hotel is located in close proximity to the Holy Gates of the monastery and includes several guest houses. Pilgrims are offered six- and eight-bed rooms with single or bunk beds. Each floor has a bathroom. There is a tea shop for pilgrims. The cost of living is 300 rubles. per night. Perhaps two meals a day in the refectory of the monastery (lunch and dinner). Pilgrims who come to work in obedience can stay in a hotel and eat in the refectory for free. Important nuance: Reservations are made for organized groups only.

Guest five-room houses

The guest houses have single, double, triple and quadruple rooms. Guest houses are very comfortable to live in. Pilgrims can use the shower, kitchen and dining room. The dining room offers lunch and dinner from the monastery refectory. The cost of living is:

  • Single room - 1000 rubles/night;
  • Double and triple room - 800 rubles / night for one place;
  • Quadruple room - 600 rubles / night for one place.

Pre-booking for individual pilgrims is also not carried out.

Settlement in Skita

Accommodation in the skete is available only for males who have come to work in monastic obediences for a sufficiently long period of time. A short interview is held before settling. Accommodation for such pilgrims is free.

Rental housing from local residents

Local residents offer pilgrims to rent rooms and private houses for living. This option is convenient because there is no need to obey the internal rules of the hotel. The cost of living starts from 200 rubles. per day. Conditions in private houses vary greatly depending on the cost. It can be a place in a room with no amenities, or it can be a completely comfortable modern house. The pilgrims who came to own car, have the opportunity to rent housing in nearby villages or even in the city of Kozelsk. Suggestions and reviews can be found on or in other sources.

Not all people adequately evaluate the idea of a pilgrimage, believing that it is simply tourist trip to holy places. Tourists who go on a trip with one purpose - to have fun, should not expect any changes in spiritual development. The intentions of true believers are different, not only prayer petitions before the icons of the great elders to forgive sins, but also the search for the meaning of life.

Each person at least once puzzled, and what is his purpose on earth. IN worldly life such a view is not possible. Therefore, the Orthodox go to holy places in order to win God's grace, form a correct view of the surrounding reality, and receive deliverance from spiritual suffering.

Voluntarily accepting difficulties on the road, the laity approach the highest goal. While in holy places, the Orthodox come to realize that material goods and physical pleasures are not so important in life, it is much more important to comprehend spiritual and eternal ideals. The purpose of today's trip will be to touch the shrines of the monastery in Optina Pustyna.

The formation of Optina Pustyn

The history of the church is inseparable from the history of monasteries, the main purpose of which was the formation and development of the cultural and spiritual values of the people. Invaluable in this field is the role of the Vvedensky Stauropegial Monastery in the Optina Desert, located in the Kaluga region, in the ancient city of Kozelsk.

The beginning of the way

For certain, the date of the formation of the desert is unknown. Presumably, Vladimir the Brave and his close heirs had a hand in its formation. There is another version of the appearance, allegedly the founder was the robber Opta, who sinned a lot in life, and thus tried to save his soul. Subsequently, in monasticism, he received the name Macarius, which is why the hermitage was called Makarievskaya. Closer to reality is the statement that this territory was a place for people who decided to lead a hermit life in monasticism, and they were called the same - optins.

The monastery appeared in the 15th century, and Optius cut down the first cell, after which the history of the Desert began to take shape. It cannot be said that life in the monastery was idle. Just like in other places, the brothers worked hard and spent a lot of time in prayer.

In 1630, 12 monks found shelter in it in 6 cells, led by Hieromonk Fedor. In a small wooden church, built by 1635, services were held, which were ruled by Abbot Sergius.

Tsar Fyodor Mikhailovich Pustyna was given a mill and free land for the development of gardening. In 1689, local boyars, the Shepelev brothers, erected the Vvedensky Monastery.

Difficult times of Peter the Great

During the reforms of Peter I, Optina fell out of favor, and the gifts were taken away. The mill went to the treasury. In 1704, they took away the river transport across the river. Zhizdra, the ban affected fishing.

Twenty years later, the monastery became very poor, and in connection with this circumstance, the Synod decided to abolish Pustyn for low profitability for church needs. Two years later, the stolnik Andrei Shepelev petitioned the Synod for the revival of the shrine, to which he received consent, and from that time the restoration of the Desert began. Some gifts were returned, in particular, the mill.

The revival of the shrine proceeded at a slow pace. The Metropolitan of Moscow drew attention to this fact, and in 1795 the full restoration of the Hermitage began. Of these, the monk Ambrose is more famous. Possessing the gift of healing, he constantly helped people and prayed tirelessly in his cell. Since the end of the 19th century, the shrine has become a place of pilgrimage for Orthodox from all over Russian Empire. Christians went here with the intention to be comforted, to receive healing, to find spiritual peace.

After the fall of the reigning Monarchy in 1917, five years later, by decision of the new government, all the temples of the Desert were closed, and the last elder, Father Nektary, was forcibly placed in the hospital of Kozelsk. As soon as the new power over the Russian shrine was not “ridden”, organizing various enterprises on the territory, there was a sawmill and a rest home for the proletariat.

Renaissance

Such blasphemy continued until 1987, after which the Renaissance of Optina Pustyn began. In the center is the Vvedensky Cathedral - main temple monastery. Churches stand around it in a cruciform pattern.

WITH north side- the Church of Mary of Egypt, the construction of which began in 1858 on the site of the refectory. On south side in 1811 the Kazan Church was erected, here Christians pay homage to the relics of Moses, Anthony and Isaac. From the east we will see the Vladimir Church. In total, there are 11 temples in the shrine.

Blessed water prayers are performed in the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. In the temple of Hilarion the Great, at the entrance to the monastery, the laity partake of the Sacraments. The Church of All Saints was already built outside the monastery fence. In the Vvedensky Cathedral, pilgrims will be able to venerate the relics of the great monks - Ambrose and Nektarios of Optina and pray before the icon of the Kazan Mother of God.

Most of the relics of the saints are concentrated in the Vladimir Cathedral. From the incorruptible relics of the saints - Leo, Macarius, Hilarion, Anatoly (Zertsalov), Barsanuphius, Anatoly (Potapov), Joseph of Optina, grace descends on weak people.

Round-the-clock services are held in the monastery skete, located behind the grove. In this place, Elder Ambrose conducted conversations with the laity, and healing was granted to people here. Believers can sprinkle themselves and drink holy water from the well of Ambrose. Near the gates of Optina Hermitage there is another well and a bath associated with the name of Pafnutiy Borovsky.

In the chapel at the monastery cemetery, three monks of Optina, Hieromonk Vasily, monk Trofim and monk Ferapont, who died violent death at the hands of a deranged Satanist.

How to get to the monastery

Pilgrims of different ages strive to get to the Optina Monastery, it is gratifying that the number of young pilgrims is growing. Currently in operation monastery 180 monks live. In this amazing place, peace and tranquility reign, the confidence that Russia will be reborn and become a great country.

Pilgrims testify that prayers performed at an early time elevate the soul and give love to neighbors, bring joy and faith that only good things await Christians ahead. From all the holy relics breathes unprecedented power and God's grace.

Believers do not lose hope to get to Elder Elijah. Some have to come multiple times. He turned 83 last year, but he is in perfect health. Those who happened to get to the schiarchimandrite note with satisfaction that in case of worldly problems and illnesses, everything is arranged properly. This is facilitated by the prayerful help of the elder.

Getting to the monastery from Moscow is easy. You need to come to the Kyiv railway station and from there trains go to Kaluga or Sukhinichi. From the metro station "Teply Stan" in the direction of Kozelsk organized bus service. Stop right at the walls of the monastery.

The shrine has its own website on the network, on which the necessary information is located on the right. On the forum you can find people who are looking for travel companions for a trip to Optina Pustyn.

In the section on the question How to accommodate in Optina Pustyn in the private sector? given by the author reroll The best answer is I haven't been to Optina, but I have been to Diveevo: we, pilgrims, were placed in the private sector. Go boldly, ask on the spot - they will definitely tell you who they bless to stay at. Angel on your way.

Answer from flush[guru]
I can’t turn out passwords, but I know for sure that you won’t stay without an overnight stay! Behind the monastery there are residential buildings where the inhabitants "give a living" by renting out rooms. Everything is clean. Drive from the Church of Peter and Paul metro Bitsevsky Park - there are no weekly problems with housing. This is the Optina pilgrimage service.

Well, take a tent if sold out.
Or to Kozelsk - it's nearby.
So I was in 20 degrees frost there was an anti-full house.
Enough space for any.

We stayed for 2 days in May this year at the guest house. 150-200 meters to the monastery. We had a double room for 1600 rubles. per day. C / a and mini-kitchen on the floor for 4 rooms. Neat and clean (which is important to me). Very beautiful house overlooking the monastery. Silence, nightingales and grace. The owner is a very friendly and pleasant woman. We are planning to go again in August with my parents. It seems that on the 1st floor there is a room with a separate bathroom. Optina herself is something indescribable! You need to go there, if possible go to all the services. If anyone needs, then tel. hostesses 8-910-520-23-31.

Often going on a pilgrimage to holy places, you don’t know where to stay for the night. Usually every major monastery has its own hotel, and it would seem that there should be no problems. But experience shows that things are not so smooth.

Where to stay for a pilgrim arriving at the monastery?

A monastery hotel has many advantages, for example, in many monasteries pilgrims staying in such a hotel are fed free of charge. But there are also significant drawbacks, for example, in Optina Hermitage I place people only for the night, that is, during the day you walk, pray, bathe in the source, and settle in a hotel only in the evening. Some monastery hotels do not have showers, which is especially difficult for women. Maybe today living conditions have changed for the better.

Often there are critical situations when a pilgrim who has arrived "from distant lands" is confronted with the fact that the monastery hotel is overcrowded. In this case, the traveler has several options: spend the night on the street, spend the night in a car, spend the night in a temple, go to a city hotel, look for accommodation with local residents.

Of course, spending the night on the street disappears immediately, even in summer it is almost impossible: rain, dampness, night coolness, mosquitoes... If you come by car, your situation is more advantageous: you are under a roof, warm, in a soft seat.. However, not everyone travels to holy places alone, in a large spacious minibus. If your car is not very spacious and you big family overcame more than one hundred kilometers on a hot day, then such an overnight stay will turn into torment. Neither rest normally, nor stretch your legs, and there is still a way back ahead. Many monasteries allow people to spend the night in temples, but here, too, there are some inconveniences. You understand, several dozen people are trying to fall asleep under the echoing vaults of the temple, someone sneezed, someone coughed, someone decided to pray, but what if you have children with you? You can spend the night in a city hotel, but if it is far from the monastery, this can be a big problem, in addition, there may not be places in it or there will be high prices, the same is not very convenient. There is only one option left - to look for which of the local residents lets guests in for the night. This option is also not the easiest for many. Walk along unfamiliar city or the village, knocking on houses and asking: “Will you let me spend the night?”. Who are these people? What is this house? Are you welcome there?

Where to stay in Optina Pustyn?

ate You are going to Optina Pustyn Monastery, then most likely you will encounter all the problems listed above, because in last years the flow of tourists and pilgrims has grown many times over. Not only monastic hotels, but also private hotel complexes, and local residents often have all the places occupied.

If you are a pilgrim going to Optina Pustyn and do not know where to stay, we invite you to our small "private hotel", which is located 100 meters from the monastery. Certainly " Private hotel"- too loud name, in fact, this is an ordinary house in which several rooms are rented.

Capacity

The usual capacity of our house is 6-7 people, if desired, it is possible to accommodate a group of 10 people.

Comfort and living conditions.

Our house is cozy and clean, we strive to keep it in order. Bed linen is washed and ironed after each visitor.

Provided to visitors bathroom with shower and toilet. There is all year round hot water. There is parking for cars.

Now for the disadvantages

Of course they are, but we strive to minimize and compensate for them.
Of the shortcomings, it should be noted the sluggish redecoration in a permanent state. However, it will not bother you at all, because during the reception of guests all work stops. Unfortunately, there is no central sewerage in the village, which makes us save water as much as possible.

Contacts

Dear pilgrims, unfortunately today we do not receive guests, but we recommend that you contact our neighbors, who also rent accommodation for pilgrims.
