Golden Gate

Mysterious rocky arch in the sea near one of the slopes of Kara-Dag - "Golden Gate" considered a symbol of Koktebel. In the light of the sun, the arch shimmers with a golden color, which is why it got its name.

But in ancient times, the inhabitants called it "Gate of the Devil" and there was even a belief that it was here that the road to hell begins.

Now it's popular excursion object. You can get to it by boat, yacht, longboat. Previously, one of the exciting activities during the excursions was the obligatory route under the Golden Gate, but recently it has become unsafe, and it was canceled.

How to entertain children in Koktebel

Despite the fact that the village is not very big, except for marine entertainment you will find something to captivate, surprise and delight the kids.

Excursions in the surroundings and entertainment

You should buy an exciting wine tour with a tour of the factory, where you will definitely learn detailed history the origins of winemaking in Koktebel, the main technologies for making the best intoxicating drinks, and you will taste the natural Koktebel wine product.

Routes along the "Black Mountain"

To find out if Kara-Dag is really full anomalous zones and phenomena, you will have to acquire walking tour in groups with an experienced guide.

Further, you will meet amazing mountain sculptures on your way, find out what archaeologists dug up here, check your instruments for serviceability at the Devil's Finger, admire the Golden Gate and the panorama of Koktebel from a height, overcome the Valley of the Dead.

You also have to find out why the road to the plateau takes about 4 hours, and back a little more than half an hour.

There are several options for excursions - sea, walking and mixed. They begin in the village of Kurortnoe, where you need to arrive and agree in advance about the trip.

Nudist beaches

Within the boundaries of the village, between two ordinary beaches in the Junge hill area, there is a beach for naturists. It has existed here for a long time, even before the resort popularity of this settlement. You can probably guess who painted their paintings from the nude here?

The beach has its own infrastructure, from changing rooms, bars, beach equipment, to water activities.

Nudist beaches are also located in the eastern part of Koktebel, but unlike the above, there is no improvement there.

The sights of Koktebel, in my opinion, are intended for two categories of citizens - young, strong, active and romantic, intelligent, curious. Of course, there are lucky ones who combine these qualities in themselves - Koktebel is simply created for them.
It so happened that the most interesting thing in Koktebel is connected, on the one hand, with wild, protected nature, on the other hand, with high art (literature, painting).
The natural attractions of Koktebel are stunning in their beauty, unique reserve Karadag, Cape Chameleon, sea, mountains, bays, steppes...
Art is the pages of Koktebel life associated with the poet Maximilian Voloshin and a significant part of the Russian intelligentsia of the Silver Age, and later of the Soviet era, who lived and worked in Koktebel.

Advertising - club support

Koktebel, like the rest Southeast Crimea, V varying degrees according to the strengths and interests of everyone - young and mature, traveling by car and on foot, traveling with children, alone, in a company. Everyone will find here something to see, something to enjoy. It is this noteworthy side of Koktebel that I consider the strongest.

In terms of infrastructure development, this village is much less interesting. Now it still does not reach the real Resort.
So, what can you see in Koktebel and its environs?

  • Karadag nature reserve(including the rock "Golden Gate"),
  • Cape Chameleon,
  • quiet bay,
  • fox bay,
  • Embankment ( monuments to the defenders of the Crimea, Voloshin),
  • House-museum and Voloshin's grave,
  • Mount Klementieva - the center of gliding,
  • Factory of cognacs "Koktebel"
  • Karadag Dolphinarium,
  • Aquapark "Koktebel"
  • nude beach

The list of attractions at first glance seems small. The impression is deceptive. If you get acquainted with all these sights step by step, you will need a lot of time and effort, believe me.
Once upon a time, my friends and I went on foot to the Quiet Bay, to the reserve, climbed the mountains a lot, walked along the burnt steppes. For me, even when I was young, it was not easy. That's why I'm talking about youth and sportiness when I mean active rest in Koktebel. There is definitely a place to swing and enjoy life. Take at least the beaches of the nearby bays - Quiet and Lisya, which are the best in Crimea, along with the beaches on Cape Tarkhankut, in the Cossack Bay in Sevastopol, the Golden Beach in Feodosia.

However, you should not despair. In our time, everything has become easier - got into the car and drove off. In Quiet Bay, for example, you can get to Lisya - both to get there and to swim. Of course, you won’t be able to ride around the reserve - there are only walks and then not on your own. To the grave of Voloshin, you also need to climb on foot along a steep path. But there are options. You won't get bored. Let's talk about some interesting places ah more.

Karadag nature reserve -

this is a closed area. You can go here only with a guided tour, which is conducted by the workers of the biological station. By the power of impressions, this is one of the most interesting places in Crimea. There are no indifferent and dissatisfied people. But on the way, tourists are waiting for a difficult climb uphill, a difficult descent, several hours of walking (well, if not under the scorching sun). It is necessary to realistically assess your strength, wear comfortable shoes and clothes, and do not forget to take water with you.
What can you see in the Karadag Reserve? A lot. Karadag Nature Museum, dolphinarium, marine aquarium.Be sure to follow the ecological trails.
Excursions around mountain route are held from May to September. The length of the route is 7 kilometers. The duration of the tour is 4 hours.

For those who cannot walk such a distance for various reasons (health, traveling with small children), there is a good alternative -. Of course, these are different things, it is desirable to visit both of them, but as an option to get acquainted with the ancient extinct volcano, look at the rocks, bays, listen to legends and stories, it’s very good. I recommend!

Kara-Dag is an array consisting of several mountains.

The most high point- Mount Holy (577 meters).

The sea at the foot of Karadag is of emerald color.

The Golden Gates of Karadag are visible in the distance.

Rock "Golden Gate" -

business card Koktebel and the main attraction of Karadag. It is located behind the Rogue Bay. The height of the rock is 8 meters, width - 6 meters, depth down - 15 meters.
The photos of the rock didn't turn out very well. There was a terrible pitching and near the "Golden Gate" came out somewhat inexpressive. In the photo above, from afar, they are visible even better, perhaps. To visit Koktebel and not see the Golden Gate?! Impossible!

There are two ways to get to the Golden Gate. Like we are by sea. Or by mountain path along Karadag.

Cape Chameleon

is located near Koktebel - between the village itself and Quiet Bay. It got its name because of the variability of color depending on the weather, time of day, lighting. Outwardly, the shape resembles a dinosaur leaning towards the water.
We saw Cape Chameleon like this. To be honest, it's amazing...

Agree, a real watercolor ... Such delicate colors.

A little before reaching Cape Chameleon, on the mountain opposite, is Grave of Maximilian Voloshin. You can climb to it along one of the paths leading up. At the beginning there is a very steep path, then, after about a kilometer, it is more gentle. When we drove along the road from Koktebel to the side quiet bay, I saw a small homemade grave marker. As I understand it, he points to the path that is more difficult. In the photo below - the rise is easier.

quiet bay

together with the adjacent Biyuk-Yanyshar and Kuchuk-Yanyshar ridges forms a single natural complex, a natural monument with the name of the tract "Quiet Bay". This place attracts here those who are looking for silence, the beauty of nature untouched by civilization, clean beaches, sea.
Quiet bay - a rare corner - on the one hand reserved, on the other - accessible. This is a place for those who prefer a wild beach holiday with a tent. After all, first of all, people come here to sunbathe and swim, and the beach in Quiet Bay is one of the best beaches Crimea.
You can get here on foot or by car. Walking from Koktebel to the Quiet Bay is a long way. I had to walk myself. But I can’t say how much time passed - in my youth it’s somehow not customary to time such walks with a stopwatch. I remember that it was hot, far away, at times it was difficult for me to go up the mountain, then down the mountain, or even splashed on the water. Burnt as a result terribly. Although it is possible to go and just on the road. It's less romantic, but reliable.
This year we went to Quiet Bay by car. The road is unimportant, rocky, sometimes broken during the rains, apparently, therefore, it is very rutted. We do not really like such roads, it is a pity for the car. Therefore, they admired the Quiet Bay a little from afar, before reaching the goal.

The fact that Quiet Bay is a special place is evidenced by the fact that art in various forms glorified it and used it. In painting - these are paintings by various masters, starting with Voloshin, in cinema - films. I saw Silent Bay and "Scarlet Sails", and "The Man from Capuchin Boulevard", and "Pirates of the 20th Century". It is said that more than a hundred films have been filmed here.

fox bay

located between Karadag and Cape Meganom. You won’t get to Fox Bay on foot from Koktebel, you have to go. 40 minutes by car towards Shebetovka. The road is bad. They also bring them here on boats.
Fox Bay is another place for wild recreation, a cult place, chosen by inveterate savages, nudists, informals and ... the most ordinary vacationers and tourists. It is believed that here is one of the best beaches in the Crimea. Rest - not rest, but it's worth a look here if you are interested in the sights of the Crimea and are looking for something interesting to see.
What is Fox Bay? Fox Bay - a state of mind. From the VK group with the same name (http://vk.com/club2554424) photo of this paradise:

We didn't make it here this year. I couldn't even wave my hand from afar.

Embankment of Koktebel -

not long (a little less than one and a half kilometers), quite "motley", ambiguous. But what is a city by the sea without a promenade, the main area for walking and relaxing?! Any self-respecting embankment, like a state within a state, is full of sights of various kinds. Koktebelskaya is no exception.
For example, such as the woman Luda, who has been plying here for more than a year and selling fuck ..n-grass (in the photo below she is standing with a basket). The internet is full of videos of her. With her jokes, she even struck down Alexander Revva (http://kivvi.kz/watch/5dq03r3flg92). If you want to laugh, follow the link.

To this day, the cinematic glory of Koktebel and its environs is alive. We watched the filming process on the embankment for two days.

And once upon a time .... On the set of "Scarlet Sails", the profile of Voloshin and Karadag is also clearly visible in the background.

On the embankment there are numerous cafes, souvenir shops, as well as children's attractions and the Dolphinarium.

There are also several monuments.
Monument to the paratroopers.

Koktebel - picturesque city which is filled with various attractions. Maximilian Voloshin's house is located in the center of Koktebel. On the right, on Mount Kara-Dag, nature itself immortalized his profile. On the left is Mount Voloshin, here, according to his will, he is buried. Tsvetaeva said that a magic triangle was formed here, wherever you go, there are memories associated with Voloshin everywhere.

The most popular sights of Koktebel:

The main attraction of Koktebel is Mount Kara-Dag, one of the wonders of the Crimea, the oldest extinct volcano. After all, this is not just a mountain, but a real volcano of the Jurassic period, in whose memory the formation of the planet and giant dinosaurs. Mount Karadag is about 150 million years old. The names of the rocks on the mountain have a variety of names: Ivan the Robber, Gingerbread Horse, Devil's Finger, Golden Gate. More about

On the territory of the Kara-Dag nature reserve there is the legendary Devil's finger, which attracts incredible amount tourists and beauty lovers. This attraction has several names, one of which is the Sphinx Rock.
The borders of the Kara-Dag reserve are surrounded by small houses. Rangers live and work there, who protect the reserve from people who do not respect nature.

Arriving in Koktebel, do not forget that this region is famous for its wines and cognacs. Sights of Koktebel for active recreation

The house has been preserved since the beginning of the 20th century and was built personally by Voloshin. Together with him, here, periodically, lived at least famous people: Gumilyov, Tsvetaeva and many other celebrities. Voloshin was a creative poet, writer, artist, he valued life, personality, man. Interesting people gathered in this house, they wrote poems, creative meetings were held, performances and skits were staged. In the early 1920s, when the Crimea passed from the Bolsheviks to various gangs, then to the Whites, Marya Stepanovna, the poet's wife, a nurse, hid representatives of various warring parties in her house. She was a Christian

Sights of Koktebel within walking distance

Cape Chameleon is one of the unusual sights of the village of Koktebel. Cape Chameleon is located about three km. east of the village. The cape earned its name due to the constant change of its color. The color of a chameleon directly depends on the time of year, the weather of the time of day. In addition to color, the name Chameleon is also associated with its shape. If you look at the cape from the shore, then its shape resembles the back of a chameleon, with its muzzle directed towards the sea. Cape Chameleon is very well suited for hiking. Walk to the cape from Koktebel about 30-50 minutes. Having reached the cape, you can walk along its crest, almost to the sea. The path leading along the ridge is quite narrow, so if you have a fear of heights or you don't put on comfortable shoes, it's better to postpone the walk along the ridge and enjoy the beauties of the cape from the shore. Near the cape there is a quiet bay. Usually it's not crowded and almost always pure water. More about .
