bus station in ayia napa

An article with a photo about the beaches of Ayia Napa.
... In the morning I was too relaxed in all this resort atmosphere - I spent too long swimming and sunbathing on Mackenzie Beach, next to which my hotel was located - and as a result, I missed the bus to Ayia Napa. Or rather, he was not late, but simply behaved like last sucker: I did not look at the schedule of intercity buses in time and it turned out that the last "morning" bus left at 12:30, and the next one was only at 16:00.

For some reason, I decided that the traffic in Ayai Napa from as busy as in. In short, I compared the country's capital with a former fishing village. Well, I had to spend another three hours in Larnaca; first I had lunch at a cafe on the beach, then walked to the church of St. Lazarus with his tomb. I bowed to Lazar and drank coffee nearby - the owner of the cafe turned out to be an Englishman living in Cyprus - we had a good chat with him over a cup of coffee, he complained about the Cypriot summer heat, but nevertheless concluded that the climate of Cyprus is definitely more pleasant than his Albion and back to the Queen Mother he does not want. I warmly agreed with him, I also did not want to go back to the dank capital of our "sovereign democracy."

And the "business partner" of that Englishman turned out to be Brazilian - and our conversation inevitably turned to the beauty of his native country, where I was lucky to visit last year. After talking with these guys, I went to the city beach of Larnaca, where I spent time with pleasure until 4 pm - and then left for Ayia Napa.

How to get cheap from Larnaca to Ayia Napa and back

Fares from Larnaca to Ayia Napa: 4 euros one way and 7 euros round trip. The last bus back to Larnaca leaves at 20:30 - this fact is extremely important for me, because this night I had a Larnaca flight according to the plan, and I would very much like to return to Larnaca in time to pick up my bag at the hotel and get to the airport.

The city of Ayia Napa is located in a bay off Cape Greco, and this former fishing village owes its rapid growth to the Turkish occupation. northern Cyprus and, in particular, the most important of his then resort - Famagusta (in Turkish, Varosha). When the UN declared Famagusta a neutral zone, residents were forced to hastily leave many of its areas, leaving all their property there. Many of them settled near their hometown, in Ayia Napa - apparently believing that this garbage will not last long and soon they will be able to return home. However, it has been going on for almost 40 years, and during this time a generation has changed. Tired of waiting and having gone from shock, these settlers built new resort instead of the lost Famagusta - Ayia Napa, and now, for its brightly grown youth orientation, it is often called the "Ibiza of Cyprus" - round-the-clock discos, club youth of the country of all Europe, martini river.

Getting around in Ayia Napa is very simple: in fact, there is only one street in the city - Nissi Street, which stretches along the coast.

Is it true, east of center Ayia Napa is replaced by Kryou Nerou Street, but this is just a name change - it still stretches along the sea as before. Unfortunately, all of them are located, although geographically along the sea, but at a fair distance from it - it is not very close to go to the beach there. Main beaches in Ayia Napa - Makronissos beach(Macronissos), Crio Nero beach(Kryou Nerou) Ayia Thekla beach(Agia Thecla) and Nissi beach(Nissi), considered one of the best in Cyprus.

Ayia Napa, Nissi beach photo

Nissi Beach is located 2 kilometers from the city center.

It's quite big and really very beautiful beach, which has its own "chip" - you can wade to a small island located opposite.

The depth there is waist-deep in the very deep place- I checked. Of course it's not famous. sandbar between Thai Koh Tao islands and Ko-Nyangan, but also a fascinating "attraction".

Also a nice place, a place for youth parties, it is from here that they then move to the clubs of Ayia Napa.

A secluded beach, for which nudists love it.

Kriou Nerou beach photo:

It starts from the city harbor and stretches to the east. The beach is very long, several kilometers, if you wish, you can have a bite to eat in one of the many cafes and taverns.

In addition to the beaches, one of the most interesting sights of Ayia Napa I would include waterworld water park, which can be reached in 15-20 minutes by bus.

If you are a company of two or more people, then I recommend trying a wonderful seafood meze in one of the taverns located near the port of Ayia Napa:

How to get cheap from Ayia Napa to Larnaca

By Intercity bus; but keep in mind that if the schedule indicates the departure time, for example, 19:00, then this means the departure time is not from Ayia Napa, but from Paralimni (buses go through Ayia Napa in transit) and in Ayia Napa the bus will be approximately 20 minutes after its departure from Paralimni. The price of a one-way ticket is 4 euros; taxi drivers for this route will take about 40 euros.
I liked Ayia Napa in general - a good place for family beach holiday. Although there are a huge number of such places in the world: Ayia Napa is an ordinary tourist village with one long street, completely built up with restaurants, cafes, travel agencies and others in this spirit. Everywhere there are inscriptions “we speak Russian”, in every second cafe there is a Russian barker, everywhere there is Russian menu. In other words, the city is no different from those in Turkey or Spain. The place is very comfortable for rest, but there is nothing special to see there.

For the last few year s, transport system Cyprus received several positive innovations and was able to develop. Finally it became possible to visit all the most important places on a simple bus. However, Cyprus still remains a country with a not very developed transport links, so it may not be possible to visit all possible sights only by bus.

How to get from Ayia Napa to Larnaca

Most the best choice is the 711 route to the center of Larnaca. Almost all other buses (No. 440, 409, 419 and 431) make a stop on the embankment. The fare will cost 2 €, but if end point became the airport, you will have to make a transfer and pay extra 1.5 €. If you go by intercity route, the fee will be 4 €, while the bus will pass by the airport. The easiest way to buy tickets is directly from the driver.

In some cases, drivers who transfer from hotels to airports can pick up fellow travelers. The price should be negotiated separately, it depends on how long it takes to get to the desired point, but sometimes they can give you a ride for free.

The fare to Larnaca by taxi ranges from 50 to 55 €. Since the car usually fits 4 people, it comes out 12-14 € each. Quite expensive, but it is the taxi that can take tourists directly to the terminal, while the buses stop a little further.

Taxi in Cyprus

Special mention are taxis operating throughout the island. The government controls the carriers quite strongly, coordinating all prices to the last cent. This made it possible to provide a sufficiently high level of service. The drivers are always punctual and the cars are comfortable. Taxis are easy to recognize by their yellow numbers.

Taxi is the ideal option for a quick and safe travel across Cyprus. However, the price tag is appropriate. A fairly complex system has been created to determine the cost, taking into account:

  • baggage weighing more than 12 kg;
  • landing;
  • time of day (night trips are more expensive);
  • holidays;
  • various accruals for late client and downtime.

As a result, the minimum price of one kilometer of the path is 0.63€. There is a €0.55 surcharge for pets, and the pet must travel in a special container.

by the most convenient way order a taxi became the Internet. You don't even need to speak Greek or English to do this. There are several companies with Russian-speaking employees where you can place an order online. It is enough to fill out just one form, and then make an advance payment, and the driver can meet the client right at the airport, while saying the final address is not required, which reduces all communication to a minimum.

Conclusion

In general, Cyprus is extremely small island. Most sights are easy to visit in just a few days, moving on the same buses, while saving a decent amount.

Comfort lovers can call a taxi that can quickly deliver anywhere on the island in just a few hours, much faster public transport. True, then the rest can become several times more expensive, which is significant, given the exchange rates.
