If you decide to stay in, this does not mean that you will need to limit yourself to only one city. There are many interesting things to see in Thailand. Let's say you are interested in the cities of Pattaya - Hua Hin: how to get there so that you do not have to spend too much time on the road? What options exist? Let's figure it out.

To begin with, it is worth noting that transport connection between these points is quite well developed. When departing from Pattaya, the distance will be more than 300 km (and the same way back). So you will have to spend about 4-5 hours on the way. Therefore, it is very important that you feel comfortable. And it depends on the chosen method.

By bus

If you don't want to deal with transfers, you can choose to travel by bus. There are direct flights between cities. True, only one. Departure takes place at 11:00 from the Northern Bus Station. You will have to spend 5.5 hours on the road. But sometimes you are lucky with traffic jams, and you find yourself at the Central Bus Station Hua Hin even earlier.

What's good about this option? Travel is organized by the well-known transport company Bell Travel in Thailand. It provides passengers with buses in excellent condition. So the air conditioner will work all the way, and the luggage compartment is quite roomy.

Tickets are sold at the window number 3 at the bus station. But keep in mind that they may not be enough, so it makes sense to book in advance. This can be done through the 12Go.Asia service. The fare for one person is from 500 baht (depending on whether an adult or a child is traveling, and whether you are carrying luggage with you or not).

What to do if there were not enough tickets or you missed the bus? In this case, you can go by minivan. You need the bus station "Pattaya Tai". From here, this transport departs several times a day. On the way, he spends noticeably less time: only 4 hours, and the ticket is cheaper - about 300 baht. The problem is that there is no luggage compartment here, so you will have to pay for a suitcase as for another full-fledged place.

By taxi

This is the most expensive way to get to the desired city. Such a trip will cost you about 3.5-4 thousand baht (prices are valid at the beginning of 2018), and we are talking about a car for 4 passengers. That is, even if you divide the cost of the trip, it still turns out to be expensive. But you don't have to figure it out how to get from Pattaya to Hua Hin, and pay extra for luggage. When ordering transport through the website, you can be asked to give you a minivan (suitable for a large company) or provide a car seat for a child.

If you have any additional wishes, for example, you are traveling with a dog, then it is best to clarify such points in advance. When booking a taxi through the already mentioned service, the cost of the trip will be known in advance.

On a ferryboat

Sometime between Hua Hin and Pattaya was the ferry. Then for some reason it was removed, and from the beginning of 2017 it was launched again. Such a crossing takes a little time: only 2 hours. However, it also has its drawbacks. In particular, passengers are constantly pumped, so problems with seasickness can begin. Moreover, another disadvantage is great cost: 1250 baht That is, the price for one ticket is comparable to the cost of air travel.

The boat departs from Bali Hai Pier. Finding it is usually quite easy: you need to follow the famous Volkin Street to the west. When you get almost to the very end, you will see the pier. There you can buy a ticket. Another option is the same online service.

Only one ferry runs between the cities per day. Departure from Pattaya - at 10 am. However, the schedule is not always strictly observed. This can be affected by the weather and the breakdown of the steamer.

By own or rented car

One-way petrol costs an average of about 120 baht. That is, this method can be called one of the most convenient and economical, if we take into account only the cost of fuel. True, you will also need to pay for the car, if we are talking about someone else's vehicle. Rent is calculated by the day, the price starts somewhere from 2000 baht. The specifics depend on what brand of car you decide to take, for how long (if for a long time, then you can get a discount).

Renting through websites on the Internet is safer and often cheaper than directly at car parks in Thailand or at the airport. To travel around the country, you need to have either local rights or similar international documents. The traffic here is left-handed, so you don’t have to relearn.

Another point: you have to deal with the tracks yourself. First, from Pattaya, you will need to go along highway number 7. Then you will be waiting for a crossing through Chao river Praya. And after that you need to move along the highway number 4. The total distance is 332 km.

As you can see, there are enough ways to get from one city to another. Which one to choose? In any case, you decide: each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

We planned a trip to Hua Hin spontaneously, on Saturday evening, at about 23:00. For a long time, with my friends, we wanted to visit this city, but we didn’t dare, but then we decided. Since we wanted to visit given city over the weekend, we decided to go on Sunday early in the morning. Everything would be fine, but only about 7-9 hours are left before the trip, and we haven’t packed our things, we haven’t bought tickets, the hotel hasn’t been booked, and we don’t want to change plans. As a result, we decided to look for transport at night for tomorrow morning.

We know the city like our own 5 fingers, so we found a place where transport departs very quickly. Hua Hin's transportation company is located on South Street. It was a shame only that the first bus leaves at 8:00 in the morning, but I wanted to go early.

Since it was night, we postponed our call and the purchase of tickets until the morning, and went home. We got home around 2 am. We began to search for a hotel at a pace, but around 4 in the morning, we ran out of strength and we fell asleep without finding suitable option while still having time to set the alarm for 7:30 in the morning.

7:30 in the morning, the alarm rings, I translate it for 5 minutes in order to sleep a little more, and in the end we wake up only at 10:30, with the understanding that we overslept our trip ...

After 10 minutes of negotiations to go or not, we decide to go for 12 hours, but the tickets have not yet been bought, the bag has not been collected and the hotel has not been booked. I call the company where we visited yesterday and find out that buying tickets is only at the office, you can’t pay the driver (we only found out that the boarding was also only there when we arrived at the place). The price of a minivan ticket from Pattaya to Hua Hin is 400 baht.

We really wanted to go to Hua Hin for the weekend, as one of interesting places, Cicada market, works only on weekends, so we decide that we need to catch the 12-hour bus at all costs, otherwise the next one will be only at 14:00, which is already quite late.

Having quickly put on what came to hand, we jump on a motorcycle and rush to the office. The clock is already 10:50, we got to the office in 10 minutes. On the way, we still thought we could reschedule the trip, but decided that no, we were going today.

Arriving at the office, we understand that there is absolutely trouble with English, almost no one in the office understands English. As a result, it turned out that they do not pick up from hotels or condos, and boarding the bus is carried out only at the office. After 5 minutes of negotiations, they made a concession to us and promised to come for us, joyful we get into motorbikes and rush home to collect things, at that time we did not suspect that we rejoiced early.

Arriving home at 11:20, we run naked to the shower, after which we begin to collect our luggage. But as always nothing can be found...

Having turned the whole house over and found everything we need, while having time to cook breakfast, we collect our bag and run to the road to wait for our minivan. This is where our first transitions began.

It's 12:10 at the clock, but they don't come for us... We call the number that they gave us, there is silence. We start to worry. Second call, hooray!! They answer us and say that the driver is on the way. Relief, standing, joking, 10 minutes pass. The driver calls and asks - "where are we?". Trying to explain to him where we are waiting for him, but from the conversation we understand that he is not on our street. Having informed him about this, he hangs up and we begin to wait again, not at all with joyful emotions.

5 minutes pass, the driver calls and asks - “where are we?”, It turns out that he is already on Sukumvit Road (this is the main road or in Russian, the track) is not at all in the place we need, in a slight shock we make a quick decision, catch a taxi, call the driver, he discusses something with the taxi driver, as a result, the taxi driver says 50 baht and I will take you. Agreeing to sit down and rush to our bus.

Arriving at the right point, we give the taxi driver 200 baht, and he gives us 50 baht of change? "Why?" - we asked him, he says - "There are three of you!" :). They didn’t argue, since this was our fault, they didn’t immediately specify, we pick up the change, and run to our bus.

In the end, we got into our minivan, at about 12:30. Sighing with relief, and understanding that we had time, a little joyful and shocked, we fall into chairs and fall asleep ...

To be continued…

The distance between Pattaya and Hua Hin is more than 300 kilometers, which means that the road by land will take at least 4 hours. On this moment transport links between the cities are excellent. Every day, buses, ferries, and taxis run in two directions. I suggest that you study the features of each option so that the road for you is easy and not tiring.

Fortunately for tourists who do not like to travel with several transfers, there are direct buses from Pattaya to Hua Hin. There is only one flight per day. The bus leaves from northern bus station at 11 am. The road to Hua Hin takes 5.5 hours and at about 16:30 you will be taken to the central bus station of the city.

Transportation is handled by Bell Travel. The fare is 400 baht. Large comfortable buses with compartments for luggage and equipped with air conditioning run along the route. Usually there are no traffic jams on the road, and the road may be slightly reduced in time.

Ticket sales for scheduled bus to Hua Hin, window number 3 at the bus station is engaged. Also, you can always purchase them via the Internet on the site. Please note that it is advisable to take care of the ticket in advance, since there is only one flight per day and they simply may not be enough.

If you still do not have enough space for the bus, you can make a trip with a transfer in Bangkok. The most convenient way in this case is to use a minivan. They depart from Pattaya after they fill up completely. The interval is 30-60 minutes. They bring passengers to the Victoria Monument in Bangkok in 1 hour. The cost is about 100 baht. From there you transfer to another minivan heading towards Hua Hin. They leave every 30 minutes, in time - about 3 hours, at a cost - about 200 baht. The total amount will be no more than 300 baht, which is even more profitable than the first option.

Ferry

Starting from January 2017, there appeared the new kind connections between Pattaya and Hua Hin. More precisely, it didn’t even appear, but resumed, since once such a mode of transport existed, but then a break was made for a long time.

Crossing by ferry saves a lot of time for passengers, as the journey takes only about 2 hours. But it is unlikely that it will be possible to attribute the ferry to the cheapest methods. The cost of a one-way crossing is 1250 baht, which is far from affordable for all tourists.

At the moment, you can purchase boarding tickets at the pier and the website. The ferry, like the bus, makes only one trip a day. From Pattaya, it sails from Bali Hai Pier at 10:00. It will not be difficult to find a pier, as it is located almost in the central part of the resort and, if desired, it can be reached on foot from many hotels.

In Hua Hin you will arrive at Saphan Pla Pier. It is located a little away from the city center, in the area of Mount Takiab. But get to desired hotel you can always take a songteo, the cost of which varies between 15-20 baht.

Please note that ferries may depart with a slight delay. This can be influenced by both weather and technical reasons.

Taxi

Taxi is always one of the most expensive transports, especially if the distance is long, then you will have to pay a tidy sum for the trip. The simplest car, which can accommodate 4 people, will cost around 3500-4500 baht. The trip will take about 4-4.5 hours. There are three ways to order a taxi in Pattaya:

  • street agencies. Most of of which provides services for ordering a car.
  • On streets of Pattaya often there are inscriptions " Pattaya-Hua Hin Taxi". Such announcements are posted by the offices of various transport companies. You will have to communicate with them in English.
  • Internet. This method in Lately is the most popular. You can order a taxi on the website. Here you can choose the type of car yourself, find out in advance the cost of the trip. If you are traveling with children, then companies offer a service for ordering a child car seat.

If you order a car through an agency or transport company, do not forget to agree on the cost of the trip in advance so that at the end of the journey this amount does not come as a surprise to you. It is also not necessary to order two cars if you are planning a trip with a large group. For such purposes, there are minivans that will be more comfortable and will significantly save your budget.

Own car

If you are traveling in Thailand own car or rented it during a holiday in Pattaya, it is very convenient to go on it to nearby town Hua Hin. To do this, you will have to follow highways No. 4 and No. 7. In time, the trip will take approximately 4.5 hours. Gasoline at gas stations in Thailand costs about 30 baht per liter, which means you will have to spend about 2,000 baht one way.

You can rent a car both on the streets of Pattaya and order it via the Internet on the website. From my own experience I can say that the second method is much cheaper and more reliable. Plus, do not forget that the country has left-hand traffic and you will need an international driving license to travel.

Getting from Pattaya to Hua Hin is not so difficult, especially since there are several travel options. All of them have their own differences and features, which makes it possible to choose the most suitable method for everyone.
