Titanic Belfast is a museum and monument to Belfast's maritime heritage on the site of the former Harland and Wolf shipyard in the Titanic Quarter. Opened April 1, 2012. It tells the stories of the ill-fated Titanic, which sank on its maiden voyage in 1912, and its brothers, the ships Olympic and Britannic. The building contains more than 12 thousand square meters of space, most of which is occupied by a number of galleries, as well as private halls and utilities.

The building is located on Queen's Island, a piece of land at the entrance to Belfast Bay that was freed from water in the mid-19th century. It was used for many years by shipbuilders Harland and Wolf, who built huge slipways and dry docks to accommodate the simultaneous construction of the Olympic and Titanic. The decline of shipbuilding in Belfast left most abandoned area. Most of the abandoned structures on the island were destroyed. Some have received list building status, including the slipways and drydocks of the Olympic and Titanic, as well as the iconic Samson and Goliath cranes. The abandoned land was renamed the "Titanic Quarter" in 2001 and was designated by Harland and Wolf for redevelopment over a ten-year period. The 100 hectare area was subsequently purchased by Fred Olsen for £46 million, with another 23 hectares set aside for science park. A further 78 hectares were sold by Harland & Wolff in 2002 to be used for new developments, including residences, hotels and leisure services, as well as a maritime heritage museum and scientific center. Plans were announced in 2005 to build a museum dedicated to the Titanic to attract tourists to the area, with plans for completion by 2011 to celebrate the centenary of the Titanic's launch. A number of ideas have been put forward to attract visitors. Among the ideas considered were the reconstruction of the massive steel portals in which the Olympic and Titanic were built, or the construction of an illuminated outline of the Titanic's frame in the dock from which it was launched. In June 2008, information was announced about the £64 million project - known at the time as the "Titanic Dock". Minister of Tourism Northern Ireland Arlene Foster announced that the Northern Ireland Cabinet would provide 50 percent of the funding through the Northern Ireland Tourism Board, with the remaining 50 percent coming from the private sector Titanic Quarter Limited and the Belfast Harbor Commissioners. Additional funding was pledged to Belfast. The task of attracting visitors has been entrusted to the Titanic Foundation, a charity that aims to "educate people about Belfast's social, historical, industrial and maritime heritage through the story of the Titanic". The building, now known as Titanic Belfast, is expected to attract 400,000 visitors a year, of which 130,000-165,000 will come from outside Northern Ireland. It is supposed to serve a similar function as the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, designed by…

Dear friends!

I invite you to take a tour of the Titanic!

The opulence and grandeur of the Titanic's interiors were legendary. There were 762 cabins on the liner, which were divided into 3 classes. Seats were provided for 2566 passengers, and passengers of all classes were provided with unprecedented amenities.

The difference between the luxurious cabins of the first class and the cheapest accommodation in the third class was great: the differences were in everything - in size, decoration and number of rooms. Some third-class cabins had no washbasins or cupboards, things had to be stored in bags and used as pillows, and all the furniture consisted of an iron bed with a straw mattress.

In terms of comfort, luxury and service, the Titanic was comparable to the best hotels of that time and was rightfully considered a "floating hotel" of luxury class.
