The critical components of the internal structures of the pyramid of Djoser were made of two-ton blocks delivered from afar by water, and coarsely hewn limestone. However, individual elements of the pyramids could indeed be made of artificial stone. But only not the most responsible and loaded with astronomical masses of overlying materials.
