Phrases about Prague. Prague is the most romantic city! Streets and parks

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and one of the most charming cities in Europe. More than 5 million tourists visit it every year. That is why it is considered one of the most visited cities on the planet. All the tourists who have been here, upon returning home, tell a sea of stories and throw out waves of emotions. Here are some interesting places and facts about Prague that you will surely remember for a long time.

The bronze statue, erected in honor of Jan Zizke, the famous commander, on Vitkovsky Hill in Prague, is considered the highest equestrian monument in the world.

There is an office building in Prague called "Dancing House". This is very unusual architectural structure, whose shape and design gives the impression that he is dancing to the rhythm of a waltz and is about to move.

Czech glass

Everyone knows the glory of Czech glass, but not everyone knows that the very first factory for its production was founded in the capital of the Czech Republic in 1414. Surprisingly, the company still produces the best samples in the world. In addition, for all comers, its administration arranges study tours.

An exact copy is installed in the capital of the Czech Republic eiffel tower, therefore, having been in Prague, you will kill two birds with one stone.

ancient houses

Prague is so densely built up with old houses that the passage between some of them is no more than seventy centimeters. To coordinate pedestrians in such narrow lanes, special traffic lights are even installed!

There are also mystical locations, for example, Charles Bridge - one of the most popular places for walking among both tourists and locals. According to legend, in order to build it, the architects had to make a deal with the devil himself.

Another legendary place is the house of Dr. Faust, who allegedly sold his soul to Satan. Every self-respecting tourist must visit this incredible building.

The famous Prague pissing statue, located near the Gerget brick factory, is not easy to "piss". This statue, with the help of special equipment, “writes out” famous quotes from the great inhabitants of Prague.

“Everyone who met her falls under the spell of this fabulous music of centuries imprinted in stone and certainly strives to return here to experience a moment of absolute happiness again”

Tchaikovsky about Prague

A few words about Prague

It is impossible to visit Prague and not fall in love with it. I often return to this city in my dreams. It seems to me that I am slowly walking along the narrow streets, along the cobblestones of the pavements, looking from the height of the Charles Bridge at the Vltava ...
In Prague, there is no need to look for sights - they are everywhere. It is enough just to walk around the city and look around. To see ancient bas-reliefs on houses, bizarre curves of monuments, ancient fountains, lanterns as if descended from the pages of old books…. Surprisingly, the proximity of the Romanesque style, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism and Art Nouveau does not hurt the eyes at all. Artworks from different eras coexist peacefully on the streets of this amazing city... You can just breathe in the pleasant smells of the Czech Republic, listen to the music coming from numerous cafes and restaurants, without listening to absorb the cheerful, but at the same time soft and booming hubbub of tourists who came from different countries... Look at good-natured smiles of the Czechs. Chekhov, who are in no hurry and who will definitely let you through at the crossing. Be sure to stop by a pub between walks around the city, order a glass of draft Czech beer and, enjoying an indescribable taste, understand: here it is - a moment for which it is worth overcoming difficulties and finding an opportunity to visit a magical land!

dream come true

My journey to the Czech Republic began a long time ago... 7 years ago. One distant, but undoubtedly beautiful day, my cherished dream was to visit Prague. I dreamed about the high spiers of its cathedrals, gabled roofs, beautiful stained-glass windows, winding streets and Gothic buildings ... When I received my bachelor's degree, my parents gave me a gift, taking me to a travel agency. I chose bus tour, which included a visit to Lviv, Krakow and several cities of the Czech Republic.

Start of the trip

The tourist trip began in Lviv, I arrived just in time for departure. Tourists gathered on 2 buses, we were divided according to the "territorial" principle. So our group included residents of Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Pavlograd, Kherson, and Odessa. The guide was from Lviv and spoke Ukrainian.
We spent the first day on the bus… We stood on the border between Ukraine and Poland for a very long time – about 7 hours. So we arrived in Krakow late in the evening. The next day we were shown this wonderful Polish city. Krakow is beautiful, there is something to see! One Wawel Palace is worth a lot!

A university with a monument to Copernicus, a fair... A tower from which a trumpeter blows every hour. Poles have beautiful legend that during the war the trumpeter did not have time to finish the melody - he was killed. Now it is in his honor that the music ends on one sad note.
We stood for another 5 hours at the Polish-Czech border. Probably, all the customs officers of the world are terribly slow! Everything is done extremely slowly, with coffee breaks, etc. But the Poles pass to the Czech Republic quite calmly: show the document and go to your health. The European Union, whatever one may say!

We arrived in Prague around 11 am. It was amazing! I looked out the window of the bus with all my eyes and could not see enough! Our way to the hotel ran through almost all of Prague. The capital of the Czech Republic gladly winked at visitors with the lights of its windows, greeted the spiers of buildings buried in the sky, smiled with ancient bas-reliefs and tried to dazzle with stunning views.
We settled our group in the hotel "Wienna" (****). Another hotel was originally planned, but for some reason it was changed. Note to tourists - in this sense, you should be more careful, travel companies are very self-willed and change hotels right during the tour without warning! I don’t have any special claims to the accommodation, the hotel is really good. Apart from the fact that right next to it there was a huge construction site and the area was not very busy at all. But the main disadvantage was that the hotel was located far from the center and this fact made it difficult to walk independently. You need to get to the center by bus, then by metro. After 11 at night, get to the hotel otherwise than tourist bus or taxi is not possible. But these are all minor flaws.

Prague is full of amazing things and amazing views. Everything in the complex creates an impression indescribable in words! You can talk about everything at once and about every little thing separately ... However, I will focus on what I liked the most.

Prague is located on seven hills. On one of them, on the left bank of the Vltava, is Prague Castle, on the second, across the river - Vysehrad. Czech kings lived in both of these "castles", and the townsfolk settled down on the other five hills.
At modern city three centers: Grad, Old Town and Wenceslas Square.
As a rule, tourists are shown first of all the Prague Castle. This is the largest intact territory of the Middle Ages, preserved in Europe. It is here that ancient monuments of architecture are concentrated ... Walking around the Prague Castle it would be impossible to believe that you are in the 21st century, if it were not for cars and other ubiquitous benefits of civilization. It is here that famous cathedral Saint Vitus. And, believe me, he is known for a reason! Seeing it, I fluttered my eyelashes for some time, because I had never seen such a perfect structure. It seems that everything is “in place” in it - neither take away nor add! Gothic style it is impressive in itself (and after all, the cathedral was originally built in the Romanesque style), but when there are so many details ... Both outside and inside - the cathedral can be viewed from all sides, it looks different from everywhere and every time it is a wonderful sight! Skillful stained-glass windows, consisting of thousands of multi-colored pieces of glass, through which the sun's rays shine, leave an indelibly bright impression. Only the constant crowd of tourists inside the cathedral upsets, it will not be possible to stand in silence and think about the sublime.

It is quite interesting to watch the changing of the guard of honor and how tourists torment the unfortunate soldiers with numerous outbreaks. This sacrament takes place every hour.

"Golden Lane", where, according to legend, the Alchemists lived and the Golem was created, it is better to visit at night, when the lanterns mysteriously flicker and illuminate the houses with gold, leaving a mystical impression. Night Prague even more beautiful than daylight - as far as it is possible!
In the royal city of Hradcany you can see the center of pilgrimage - the Prague Loretta. There is the Loretan Monastery, the Church of the Nativity of Christ, the treasury and many other beauties.

"Staroe Mesto" and Malaya Strana are connected by the Charles Bridge. It was built in 1357 on the site of the Yuditino Bridge destroyed by the ice drift. During the day on this bridge you can find artists and souvenir sellers, in the evening - musicians. The bridge is decorated with 31 statues, most of which appeared in the 18th century at the initiative of the Jesuits. Small country sometimes called the "pearl of the Baroque". Bright representatives of the Baroque trend are the Church of St. Nicholas, the Liechtenstein Palace, the Sternberg Palace.

Excursions in the "Old Place" often take place along the Royal Route. At the end of the 14th century, the royal residence was moved from the Castle to the Royal Court, all crowned persons traveled to be crowned in St. Vitus Cathedral along the same path, passing from the luxurious Powder Tower through the Old Town Square.
The Old Town Square is famous for the unique Orloj astronomical clock placed on – you won't believe it – the Old Town Hall. Every hour, a window opens above the clock and 12 apostles come out of it in turn, a skeleton moves a little lower, turning the hourglass and shaking the bell, a Turk shaking his head, a proud man looking in the mirror and a merchant (before the war a former Jew), jingling a purse with money . After the end of the procession of the apostles, a rooster crows and the bells on the tower ring off full hour. Modern advances in technology are, of course, capable of not doing that either. However, there is something mesmerizing in these simple mechanical movements of ancient dolls. Something that keeps hundreds of people open-mouthed every day watching the incredible Prague clock...

The watch itself consists of upper and lower dials. On the top, Central European time is indicated by Roman numerals and Old Bohemian time by Arabic numerals. In the Middle Ages, the day was divided into 24 hours, counting from sunset. Therefore, the Arabic number 24 always corresponds on the Roman dial to the hour of sunset. The meaning of the color of the clock: dark brown sector - night, light brown - sunset twilight, blue - day. Small images of the sun and moon show the position of the sun and moon (respectively) in this moment. Sidereal time is marked by a small asterisk crossing the curved lines. Also on the clock there are "functions" for determining the days of the equinox, planetary hours and the position of the Sun in the zodiac. The lower dial shows a calendar by which you can determine the day, month and zodiac sign. The picture represents the monthly events of village life. This dial rotates every day by one of 365 teeth.

In Prague there is an old Jewish quarter - Josefov, whose settlement began in the 12th century. Particularly noteworthy is the old Jewish cemetery. True, I never saw it, but nevertheless it is one of the important sights of Prague. In the Jewish quarter interesting houses and streets. And on the wall there is a clock that goes to reverse direction and instead of numbers they have Hebrew symbols.

"New Place"

All roads lead to Wenceslas Square! It is there that they appoint most meetings of tourists - near the monument to St. Wenceslas. Behind the monument is the National Museum

If you have the opportunity, be sure to take a boat tour along the Vltava. You will have the opportunity to see the "complex" Prague, stretching along the river, floating at a slow pace. Not only that, our tour included drinking Becherovka (a Czech “strongly alcoholic” drink) and tasting Czech delicacies. From the top platform of the boat, we looked at the capital passing by and it was even a little sad to go ashore.
If you wish, you could go to the "Black Theater" (and the theater in Czech would be divadlo "divadlo"). Strongly recommend to everyone! You will not see this in Ukraine! The performance is in complete darkness, actors in luminous costumes perform on the stage. The performance I saw was called "Go to the World of Your Imagination." Actors do not say anything, everything is expressed by facial expressions, gestures and dance. In addition, a special system is activated, and when it rains on the stage, it rains lightly in the hall, i.e. Water is pouring from the ceiling! Huge inflatable balls rolled around the hall and released hundreds of balloons. Very terrifying was the invasion of people dressed in costumes of hairy spiders. Nothing pleasant when they start to jump on the backs of the seats. I can say one thing for sure - everyone who came there was delighted!

Dancing Fountain of Krzyzhik

Our excursion program did not provide for a visit to the Krzhizhik fountain (in the Industrial Palace). But since I really love fountains, I simply could not miss this! Fortunately, there were a lot of cheerful and easy-going young people in our group, so we gathered our company and went to watch the performance ourselves. The fact is that the Krzhizhkovsky Fountain is not just a fountain. There are performances! We got to the stage " swan lake» Tchaikovsky. In front of the fountain was a stage on which they danced ballet. The fountain, on the other hand, created scenery - they raised the jets in a “wall” and showed frames on the screen, or just jets of water dancing to the music. Although what am I saying… Simple? Nothing simple, everything is incredibly beautiful! The water is illuminated in different colors, sparks fly from special installations in especially burning musical moments and everything ends with fireworks. It was truly amazing! Even now, when watching a short video from the performance, I am overwhelmed with a sense of beauty.

Contemporary art in Prague

With a nice man :)

Prague has a surprising amount of contemporary art.
Personally, I was most impressed by the “toilet tree” and something of a satanic nature, located right in the center of Prague, not far from Wenceslas Square!
In addition, there are funny monuments, such as, for example, an old homeless man sitting near one of the hotels, next to which you can sit down to relax. Chat about life with due imagination ...
In general, Prague is a city amazing contrasts. It feels the spirit of antiquity, the breath of the past and at the same time the spirit of the present and the future. After visiting Prague, it becomes clear why there are so many mystical legends about it!

This is the center South Bohemia and a frozen historical corner - after the 13th century not a single new house was built in it! After Prague Castle, this is the largest architectural complex in the Czech Republic.
The Vltava River also flows here, and the city was built in a very specific perspective in relation to the river: as if in a loop...
If Prague gives the impression of a huge, ancient and majestic city, then Krumlov is a small, nice, quiet and calm province. It was the feeling of peace that dominated me during my walk along Krumlov. Fairy tales are often filmed here and, in general, Krumlov reminds fairytale castle with surrounding area…

Here, as well as in Prague, there are enough narrow streets. Two people in them will not miss each other, the passage is designed for one. We also have wider passages between houses than some old Czech streets!
In the center of Krumlov, on the square, there is, perhaps, the main large monument of this town - the pestilence pillar. They were installed throughout the Czech Republic during epidemics. It was believed that they were able to save the city from the plague. The impression is, I must say, somewhat depressing ...
Try to guess what the foot shown in the photo means ... Surprisingly, in a completely illogical way, this means the shop of a man of art. Painters, sculptors, and other visual artists decorated the doors of their houses in this way. "Guild Mark" so to speak...
The bulk of the castle is located right above the river, it offers a beautiful view of the whole city!
Personally, I really liked the view of a small Czech house ... It seems like a fairy tale hut in which a kind sorceress or a cute woodcutter lives;) ....
Among the many medieval houses, the buildings of the town hall, the so-called Zlatokorunsky house, the museum building, the Krchin house decorated with paintings, the building of the Roza Hotel are especially noteworthy.
One of the Krumlov houses has windows. You say: "there are windows in any houses"? Yes, but this house has windows painted on the wall!
On one of the streets of Krumlov there is a chessboard with pieces about 50 centimeters in size. You can play them freely.
There are many souvenir shops in Krumlov! It also has many shops selling the famous Czech pomegranates. The jewelry is really very good - both the cutting of the stones, the quality itself, and the jewelry work are at their best!

Czech cuisine

Of course, it is impossible to talk about the Czech Republic without mentioning their famous breweries and beer. Although FKITA students, of course, do not drink, but if they did, then just in case I will say (purely hypothetically :)) a few words about the beer culture of the Czech Republic.
It's just some kind of boom - Czech beer, Czech beer ... Arriving in the Czech Republic, I did not notice much difference. Well, yes, good. Nice to drink..
The fundamental difference became obvious when I arrived in Ukraine and tried to drink Ukrainian beer. Not the cheapest, mind you. It immediately seemed that it was a terrible muck and thoughts flashed: “how can you drink it at all” ...
In the Czech Republic, you definitely need to visit a restaurant that has its own brewery. There are several of them in Prague, there are even plenty to choose from. Our tourist group took me to Novomestsky pivovar. A very original interior - you can just walk around the halls, look and take pictures ... It also differs in that there is a menu in Russian. A lot of rooms, but also a lot of people! It seems that there are no empty seats at all ... But the food is delicious. In the Czech Republic, I have never, in any cafe, eaten tasteless food. But Chekhov's portions are simply huge! If you ordered a salad - get ready to eat an average bowl, if a chop - then it will definitely be on the floor of the plate. Traditional Czech food - "baked boar knee" is a regular baked pork leg. Well, yes, baked well. The dumplings are not all particularly impressive. However, there are a huge number of their types and you can choose “to taste”. But just brewed beer, it is, of course, incredibly tasty! On this note, I, perhaps, will complete my story about the country where I wanted to go for so long ....

Twilight Prague

... I dreamed of Prague. Somewhere in the depths of my soul, I always knew that this city cannot disappoint. Now I dream about how I will go to Prague again. I’ll walk along the streets I love so much, smile at my friends at home and whisper softly: “I’m back. After all, I promised."

* Before going to Prague and at the same time now, to refresh my memories, I read “Prague. Afisha Guide. It was given to me at one of the travel forums by kind people - it's not just a free download of a normal guidebook on the Internet. This one is just wonderful. There I found a lot useful links, some of which I used in the "Links" section

Prague like old lady in a veil
The profile is gothic.
Here electric tram emoticon
Anecdotal.
Drowning in the history of narrow streets -
Dates and dashes.
Crowds of tourists. But it seems Russian
More than others.

Vltava drives tired waves
Between bridges.
The letters on the bar sign are incomplete -
Worn out in places.
Our? - sat down at the table, asked
Guys from Tynda.
Well, admit that you are from Russia
There was no shame.

We are not recognized by fancy dresses,
Not by carats
And by the way we carelessly pay
Their brother
And by the way we mentally walk,
Let's talk freely
We go Gogol, where we used to rage
Clay Golem.

Dark beer, walking around the castle,
Haven't we been drinking?
And admired how they keep their posture
Ancient spiers...
On tapestries in the chambers of the monarchs
Prague nights.
Crowds of tourists. And yet, our
More than others.

Tsarev Igor

How to leave you, Prague, hard!
The city and temple of St. Mikulas,
swallows that leave the towers,
to fly back with warmth,

Vltava, whose sparkling expanse
similar to fish slippery scales,
Petrin, - standing on its top,
You can't take your eyes off Prague,

thousands of windows, rusty roofs
and people like me...
Spiers, domes, saints in niches -
here in everything your poetry!

If the sound of your bells
I hear in the hour of death severe ...
Your beauty is hard to leave
for you I would like to live again!

Vitezslav Nezval
(Translated by Malevich O.)

Prague. It's getting light.
A guest from distant stars
Angel flies
On the Charles Bridge.

Silence here
Secrets lies cover.
barely audible
Melodies of distant worlds,

They are barely distinguishable
The air is golden...

Approaching inevitably
A day with its bustle.

Ija Gebert

Again I wander through the alleys of the park,

That hugging their islands,
Quietly cradles them with sleeves

Yarovinskaya Tatiana

A wonderful city, friends with romance,
We will be swirling orange in the sky,
And sparkling around the stained-glass windows,
Orchids will give handfuls ...

The tender charm of the old streets,
Vltava slow even maturity.
Charles Bridge and transparent joy,
Human hospitality is not a burden.

This is Prague - love and dream!
Tired of Moscow Mayet ...

House - and under the number not in reality!

I'll tell you how he slept
I didn’t get enough sleep - and the camp is pulling,
Where between seaweed and opal
The day rejoices over the bridges.

Where past the sleeping virgins
And knights raising their eyebrows
The people are in a hurry
Descendants - survived the blood.

Where is the honor, with the last swords
Having called, she did not hesitate in the row.
About the city, where everyone's eyes
Looks - the last in the family.

Marina Tsvetaeva

Violin music sounds
Openwork twisted Prague.
And the music is high true
Consciousness will strengthen with light.

Backbone of medieval forces
The Cathedral of St. Vitus rises.
Too many prayers
And its depth is stitched

Metaphysical fires.
Through the stained-glass windows - multi-colored light.
And the streets further - rays
Variety. Sighs of the wind.

I go up and then down
The stairs are playing with me.
And modern everyday life from
Takes me out wonderfully.

Under pistachio skies there's a city of gold
That the roads were laid out with marble and sand.
He is bogged down in the web of centuries. He looks so young
That those who are not familiar with him are easily deceived.

And believe that he is a child. It smells like childhood.
Chocolate, gingerbread, another world,
Where a huge kingdom fit under a chair,
And an eccentric with an umbrella brought beautiful dreams.

And, of course, it smells like a miracle. Simple and clear.
Miraculously without special effects, without sequins and tinsel,
Real and sincere, and therefore - beautiful.
Those who do not know him will be deceived, but - for the time being.

And, walking on caramels of marble tiles,
Smiling, as in childhood, eyes wide open,
Beginners will unexpectedly meet other smiles,
And another icy gust dies in their faces:

This is a city of mysteries, a city of ancient legends,
Spiers soaring up in unearthly gloomy anguish,
Where is the cold and muffled breath of centuries
Encased in blackened limestone.

The aroma of Magic is woven into a complex pattern.
The knots in the web of the trap will tie secrets.
Will braid the insidious network of the heart reliably
And they will not release the image of the city even by accident:

The shadow of a mysterious smile. The look is radiant - crafty.
Bell ringing turquoise-light tone.
A mirage drawn with a thin brush over the Vltava
Gold thread on a cobalt background.

No, I don't believe it's a dream
And maybe magic
I sing in unison
I am with the sorceress Prague.

Temples, squares, bridges,
Tango house dancing.
City magician, you placed
Networks in every street.

Do not get away from these spells -
Deity likeness.
Prague lindens intoxicated broth
I can't try everything.

On the twenty-seventh floor
I fly like a bird
And admire the night there
Prague - queen.

Whispers in a yellow tailcoat maple
The door, closing the front:
- To return a couple of crowns
Should be thrown into the river...

Orekhova Galina

We've been together for many years
We have not lost the taste for life yet.
See the white light
We want to visit abroad.

We will go with you
For romance in distant lands.
There we shake the old days,
We will go around all the museums and pubs.

already on the plane
We will dream of the lights of Golden Prague,
On a sharp turn
Fate and we are full of courage.

Let's crack Validol
And embracing let's go through the capital.
Find miracles here
Yes, such that it is unlikely to dream.

Charles bridge between sculptures
About the desire to say offers
Openwork on the facades
We are amazed and amazed.

For your beauty
Admiration is just the smallest thing.
City of fairy tales, dreams,
In our hearts you, Prague, remained.

Frozen Gothic music.
Paving stones of gray centuries.
And exotic peaked roofs.
After all, Prague is woven from dreams.

Jewish quarter over time
Runners on the contrary.
There narrow streets oblivion.
On Vatslovska - turn.

Showing off with a foam hat.
Krusovitz exciting ale.
I'll break into the sunset like a scarlet seagull.
Over the Vltava - organ hops.

At St. Vitus Cathedral
The sophistication of stained glass windows.
There is a magnificent retinue of angels
Greets guests at the entrance.

Admire the dancing house.
I write odes to the city.
And again, as always, worried.
I'm in a hurry to meet him!

Azarnova Lyuchana

Old Prague welcomes you warmly,
The smile of a child's autumn morning
And with heavenly joy in the heart lay down,
The good radiance of mother-of-pearl rays.

Over the Prague Loretta ringing is heard,
Tears dripped, asking for cleansing,
Holy bells ring out in unison
The soul accepts Good Forgiveness.

I look through the centuries, my eyes are amazed,
Admiring bridges, palaces, clocks.
I listen to the echoes of past times
Which roams everywhere behind us.

Beautiful Prague, you are a miracle of the ages!
In the majesty of glory you touch the stars,
You are the best city in the world
The spirit of the people lifted you to heaven.

Shades of Prague!
Brocade broke out

There are Gothic, Baroque and Empire

And she will show us the cemetery.

Rest, light, carved shadows.

Colored Prague. Old houses

Luxurious jewelry gold.

Baltin Alexander

I'm back in Prague. stucco houses,
The cobblestones rustle under my feet,
And squeezed sideways into a narrow street,
Trams rattle on the rails.

Again I wander through the alleys of the park,
Where the queen herself played the ball,
Where, from the branches pouring drops of beads,
Squirrels rush to the right, to the left ...

There, the metronome multiplies time over the Vltava.
That hugging their islands,
Quietly cradles them with sleeves
To Marina's songs about this region.

Yarovinskaya Tatiana

Where the terms are confused, where it is tied into the air

I will tell you how important
I live in my Letey city.
I'll tell you how he slept

The atmosphere of a bygone era
Without shades of sadness and fear.
I'm ready to explain my love to you,
Madam, beauty ... Prague!

Your streets, breathe in the air,
Admire the baroque style.
I'm trying to get to the bottom of it
Touch the very origins:

From laying stone walls
To our days, living in yesterday's day ..
In the characters of familiar books,
What gave us, Great Gashek.

The pavements soaked up the blood,
Inquisition, wars and turmoil.
The city is a fairy tale. Dream Town,
Who saw, he will not forget ...

A strict lady, in a hat - a veil,
You are in my dreams, as before.
How I want to meet you
There is hope in my heart.

Golden thread of fate
What connected: today - yesterday.
I will move with you to YOU,
Lost in your yards...

Here, in the churches, the organ sounds
And in taverns - Czech beer.
You are in love, ready to explain:
The city is Prague! You're so pretty…

Stratonov Valery

No wonder they call you gold

Crowded streets with a noisy crowd

Your tiled red roofs

Organ music tore the vaults,

Afanasiev Boris

On the tower a white angel guards
Rest of the astronomical clock.
Labyrinth alley captivates
In fact, quite old dreams.
Shades of Prague!
Brocade broke out
In the sun Vltava. And the cathedral soars.
The Cathedral of St. Vitus fills the eye -
Everyone is sad, even at times.
There are Gothic, Baroque and Empire
They are given a mixture - such a glorious one.
Architecture is somewhat level -
It will present you and me as nothing.
And the greenery of the parks is vibrantly lush.
Plane trees on the street. Lots of stairs.
The road will lead to the Jewish quarter
And she will show us the cemetery.
On old slabs upturned
Rest, light, carved shadows.
And inscriptions, mysteriously languishing -
As for the wisdom of an unknown level.
Colored Prague. Old houses
Squat, broad-shouldered basilica.
And reality itself seems
Luxurious jewelry gold.

Baltin Alexander

I came today to say goodbye.

I remember, of course, by heart.

I can hardly see anymore
The beauty that age has preserved.

And forever kept the place.

Kiss Prague goodbye.
And rub the sculpture on the bridge.

I'll still come to Staromestskaya.

Today I slept serenely, easily, as if in childhood.
The night painted the dream in unreal juicy colors.
I wandered around the winter city, feeling in my heart -
This city is alien only for a moment and for eternity Prague

In the rhythm of the waltz, worrying, I'm in a hurry, I'm not afraid to get lost.
Even if I don’t know the names of the streets, it’s not scary at all.
There is a girlfriend - will help, the secrets of the capital will be revealed.
How exquisitely feminine are the slender ancient towers!

Boldly strive for the sun, piercing the predawn sky.
Maybe there, in the clouds, a magical act will happen.
Dream fantasies are boundless and long live fiction -
Kiss the spire of Prague with the ship of the Admiralty.

Petrovskaya Tamara

We all have secret places
Where it's always nice to come back
Yes, Prague, I'm again at the Charles Bridge,
I can't breathe you again!

Cathedrals, domes, stained-glass windows,
My distant city, and a little home,
Meet me, meet me! Spin me, spin me
To the echoing chime of the clock on the Old Town Tower!

Circle along the red roofs, along the arches and columns
Through the streets that are so close to each other,
That the two cannot part ... But if this is a dream,
How painful it will be for me to wake up outside your walls!

The world is in a hurry somewhere, only you are not in a hurry in it,
Entangled in the eyelids, you do not speed up your step.
And you keep the spirit of bygone times so reverently,
Land of tiled roofs, hundred-towered Prague!

You warm my heart like first love.
And how, tell me, it is possible not to fall in love with you!
Let me still among the castles and bridges
On your streets, as before, to get lost ...

When other capitals will beckon me to shine
And the dust of gray roads will rush me further and further,
I'll take with me the Vltava measured splash
And the slender appearance of all your hundred high towers!

Vysotskaya Julia

On the Charles Bridge you will smile
moving to life nightly
carriages of the Prague tram,
not knowing good, not forgetting evil.

On the Charles Bridge you get off again
and tell yourself that you want again
go where the city is in the evenings
you in the back of the head shines lanterns.

On the Charles Bridge you get off again,
look at the faces of passers-by
what time will you answer someone,
but you won't see yourself on the bridge again.

Remember yourself on the Charles Bridge:
the morning horses carry you away.
Tell yourself to come back
say you're going abroad.

When you return to your homeland,
a yellow steamboat is sailing along the Vltava.
On the Charles Bridge you will smile
and shout to me: your sadness passes.

I'm talking, but you can't hear me.
You won't shout, no, and you won't write a word,
you don't raise your dead eyes now
and my living language you do not understand.

There are other faces on the Charles Bridge.
See how life goes on without you
mutters again, hurries hour after hour ...
Like death that goes on without us.

Joseph Brodsky

No wonder they call you gold
Here antiquity and gothic live side by side,
Bridges hung over the Vltava River
And old castles attract a look into the sky.

Gray-haired cathedrals here stood as a wall,
Palaces and churches lost count here,
Crowded streets with a noisy crowd
And life is many-sided and noisy flows.

Your tiled red roofs
Caressing the evening sun sunrise,
And I'm getting higher and higher
There, where the city of Prague rises in grandeur.

Here Kafka created, Mozart played music,
Organ music tore the vaults,
People were driven into uncontrollable awe
And flying up, she called somewhere.

I'm walking in Prague, as in the thickness of centuries,
And I feel the architects wide scope,
I am amazed by their creative genius
And a strong will in great deeds.

The night ends, the morning wakes up
And again the dawn rises in the Prague sky,
And the city stands, smiling as if,
And he sends me his last farewell.

Afanasiev Boris

You are the cherished grail under the auspices of the tricolor flag,
with the unbridled Vltava, in our opinion - the "wild river" ...
I admire you day and night, magical Prague,
forgetting, like a youth, from delight about sleep and peace ...

... and, it seems, in love ... with these streets and alleys ...
Balustrades of bridges, noisy hubbub of your squares,
punctual tram, languor from walking
brought some charm to my daily routine.

A miracle meeting with you is an unearthly reward for me.
I do not want to trump too pretentious word - prestige,
taking to St. Petersburg the filmed by me from the "Prague Castle",
an incomparable vernissage of terracotta roofs…

... and postcards of chimeras that look lonely from the churches,
sometimes causing genuine sadness among people ...
Drunk beyond measure with varieties of excellent beer,
I hope in my heart that I will definitely come back here!

Vladimir Kukhar

Like a legend or a saga
don't forget this city.
Finally I'm going to Prague
drink beer with the brave Schweik.

How I dreamed about it
so many winters and so many years.
Golden Prague light
left a mark forever.

Wandering through old castles
under the chestnuts white smoke,
city - you will understand - not without reason
called golden.

Fairy houses and towers
weird and weird look.
Stone knight on guard
stands over the Vltava.

There are bridges on the long river
amazing beauty,
and on the old town hall
the old clock strikes.

For your words in the answer -
I went through the whole wide world
but in the whole wide world
There are no more beautiful watches.

Prague, from anywhere
Your beauty shines on me
time of life I compare
by your golden hours.

Athos Irina

Here is the Prague railway station.
I love this smell of the station,
After all, the station is a temple
For wandering violent souls;
That's Prague tram
Fast, perfect in everything;
Here are the streets of Prague
Ancient mysterious spirit.

Houses crowded here
Embracing each other lovingly;
Invites you for a cup of coffee
The comfort of the squares;
And treasured stories
You will whisper so much in your ear
Walking all night
Morpheus, pissed off by beer!

Old Town Square
Revealed from the narrow street
In golden rays
Enraptured by the vision of heaven;
Hold your breath at home
Enchantedly listening to Gus -
He's from hellfire
Bronze article resurrected.

Ancient gothic towers
Fairy tales -
Two great chords
Magic parlerzhevsky hands;
Above the earthly abode
Mother of God with starlight
Triumphant and crying
Radiant piercing sound.

The chiming clock has measured
The beginning of the coming hour;
instructive brief
The performance was put on the scales
All the vices of the earth
And the cup is overflowing...
But is yours easy?
Think, weigh and decide.

Prague Castle, you are luxurious
On a throne over the waters of the Vltava;
Behind your darling beauty
Watch jealously.
Royal crown prongs -
Spiers of Vitov's Temple
Rise proudly
Over a sea of ruby roofs.

Charles Bridge is like a temple
Under the azure dome of eternity,
All soaked in holiness
Many important sculptures…
But I hear the clatter of hooves
And it's flashing all the time
Horses of Emperor Charles
Ceremonial gait.

Knight Bruncvik is sad
On my humble pedestal
Not allowed to parade
Saint Elites.
You are beautiful my knight
In my innermost sadness;
Your naked sword
Consecrated with golden dew.

We go to the Petrshinsky Gardens
shaded paths,
Where the rebellious suffers
Tsvetaevsky verse between foliage;
Where on the ancient wall
Printed in hot lines
And haven't cooled down yet.
Confessions of the Poem of the Mountain.

Loretan courtyard
Angelic serenity...
Here in the shady arcades
Wandering noon dream;
Breaking suddenly
This quietest immensity
soulful melody
The carillon cheered up the heart.

Us in cozy gardens
The roses smiled kindly;
And the singing fountain
We sang the poem of Love
To the Vltava, Prague and the Czech Republic ...
Light, gentle dreams
Inspirational Smetana
They fell on the soul with a song.

Us evening Prague
Warmed up with a palette of colors;
And the sadness of parting
Hurled under the heart of the key;
Old Town Square
I did not want to unclench my arms;
Dear Bruncvik waved
Goodbye with a radiant sword.

And the soul blossomed
Intoxicating rainbow bliss,
And a part of her
Floated over the sparkling water...
White dance farewell
On the velvet of the black sky
We were filled with birds...
I waved to them.

No, Nothing can explain this!
Neither beauty nor peculiar style,
Neither prashna brana nor square
Staromestskaya, or Charles Bridge,
Neither ancient nor young Prague,
Nothing - that you can touch, that you can build or destroy with your hands ...
No, this
The legends of antiquity and the beauty of the unique Prague will not explain.
There was no such thing in the world and there is not. Even if you destroy it, you won't destroy it.
She is immortal.
Her poetry is complex, but when I try, I always guess it.
This is how we guess the thoughts of the women we love.
No one can draw or describe you.
And you can't bring a mirror to you.
I would not recognize you in the mirror, and you would not recognize yourself in it.
No, Nothing can explain this!
Guidebook and agile language are powerless here.
After all, the whole secret is in yourself, in a mysteriously magical nature.
In how flocks of birds land on the roofs,
How a mother calls her child on the boulevard, decorated with ancient sculptures.
How a guy rides a bike, romances are sung somewhere nearby,
How restless trams smell under the measured ringing of church bells,
As the most modern fashion does not spoil either railway stations or churches,
How the aroma of beer sausages, drowned in centuries, fills,
How hotly our Czech language sounds on the stones of ancient squares and streets.
I myself am one of those men and women whom I love, although I know their price.
I'm only a little, maybe better than them:
I don’t need anything and sincerely sometimes I say.
And infinity is the passion in my soul. Looking for it in you, Prague.
You were born today only at noon, and you have been living for centuries.
I have one, only one desire: I want to be your tongue,
Your indefatigable organ.
I want to be the language of your bells, your rains
And your vineyards, your shelters,
Your wizened, merry chauffeur nuns...
I want to be the language of your bragging and your innate melancholy,
Your sports games and puppet theater
And your waiters, and viral flu,
And tender roses, and fatty sausages,
Wicker chairs and merry weddings,
Your grass, your high towers...

Nezval Vitezslav

Amazing city, magical city.
You become surprisingly young in it,

Although the terms of classicism, rococo and baroque,
Yes, there are many Romanesque details.

He conjures, enchants, he takes you prisoner,
And fall in love with Prague and the old man, and the urchin.

Every step is an epic, a story, an oldie.
There History comes out to people by itself.

Crusaders, saints, monks, monarchs...
You flip through the pages. Bloody and bright

The deeds of bygone days appear before you.
You see: Lyubush passed by the cathedral,

Famously Vaclav prancing on a glorious horse.
Carl watches how piles are driven into the bottom

Vltava. A stone bridge is being built.
Above the bridge - idols in their gigantic growth.

Square. Heads are flying off the platform
And the crosses on the paving stones keep that memory.

And over the city quietly chords float.
Famous maestros are led through eternity

Performances, concerts and jets of water,
The one that Krzhizhik forced to fly from a height,

Wriggle, creep and fall into the pool,
Having calmed down, ripple to lie down in a pleated ...

Amazing city, amazing city
You will certainly become young at heart in it.

Yarovinskaya Tatiana

I was in them for a short time, almost passing through.
Involuntarily I compared Prague and Dresden,
Sometimes stupefied with bewilderment,
What, alas, there is no comparison!

Yes, Dresden is good: it has a Cathedral, a Gallery -
But still, how much is new in it!
And ancient Prague seemed wiser:
With the eyes of centuries, I looked straight into the soul!

I fell in love with Prague - I will say without hiding!
And what saved her Russian tanks
And the Russian "Ilys" did not bomb it,
There were only weighty pluses in this love!

Imagine: May, domes, basilicas -
And fallen soldiers luminous faces,
Such that it is just right to write on icons!
One I would call "Saints and Konev" ...

And Dresden? You yourself know about it -
And Dresden is in ruins, burned by heaven:
Allied army, pitying the infantry,
Burned, bombed his Gallery.

And thousands of civilians burned down -
And with them Velasquez and Rafaeli.
And thousands of refugees, often innocent -
And Leonardo himself? — perished in the ruins.

And thousands fell from the bombs of the indifferent -
Of course, the enemies
But, consider unarmed,
Those who want captivity, like manna from heaven.

What if Titian is unknown among them?
And suddenly among those who decided to give up,
Van Dyck, Veronese,
Watteau, Caravaggio?

But they were not taken prisoner - now "on icons"
In hell they write "winged dragons"!
And the pilot who killed Sandro Botticelli,
Blacker than all the devils there
And devilish black! —

Anyone hates him, and everyone judges him,
That there will be no more old Dresden,
And not to be in it - by virtue of higher laws -
Icons like "Saints and Konev"...

From dead wells - you can't drink water:
Give the Czech Republic to Dresden icon painters,
Give Prague Germany a new Muhu -
Comfort, calm the German flour!

Since the icons, you know yourself,
They are not written with grief alone and with tears,
Souls are not written, even life is ugly -
And they are written with wisdom and nobility,

And they are written with courage, generosity,
And faith!
And brotherhood - Slavic weapons -
As in Prague at the end of a military campaign
In the victorious spring of the 45th year ...

Savostyanov Valery

Tiled red roofs
Narrow streets of mysterious shadow.
I will quietly hear the tread of time
In the alleys wandering all day

Prague windows openwork forging,
The rickety shutters creak.
And wandering in the channels of "Devil"
I hear a sob from the water mill.

This old man touches the soul,
In silence, a booming echo sounds.
With the scent of spring lily of the valley
In the Prague park he circles with me.

Heart beats and bursts out
The mystic turns his head for years.
Maybe in the dusty cellars I will see
wordless Golem trace.

Maybe wandering among the streets,
I'll stumble upon the alchemist's crypt,
What I was looking for, crafting
Philosopher's stone secret!

And in a tavern for a glass of beer,
Drowning out hops with legends.
Hearing the sounds of the violin playfully,
End my mystical day

Petrunina Lada

I came today to say goodbye.
I'm leaving. But someday I'll be back.
All your bridges, houses and lanes
I remember, of course, by heart.

I can hardly see anymore
The beauty that age has preserved.
My city, you have taken a niche in my heart
And forever kept the place.

Kiss Prague goodbye.
And rub the sculpture on the bridge.
I hope to see you soon.
I'll still come to Staromestskaya.

If you ask me what is in Prague for the soul,
Where there is the strongest charm of the spell:
Where do you dream, as in paradise,
Where do you write poetry? —
Let the weighty Hradchany sound first!

Hradchany is not a district, but a treasure trove of inspiration:
Tourist Prague places are the undisputed elite!
And now it's buzzing
May beetle - Prague Castle,
And then an arrow whistles - St. Vitus Cathedral!

From Wenceslas, passing along the Charles Bridge,
You can easily find them yourself in Hradcany.
Hurry to see the holy beauty!
But first, as always, a date with the Clock!

This is the custom here: You can’t get around the clock -
Here you need to stand, as at a prayer in the temple,
Think of your unspoken "I'm sorry!"
What act in fate, like viruses in a program.

For each of us - the heavenly Prague Castle,
Heavenly cathedrals for each of us!
Where is the antivirus? - Here! Apostolic Parade
In the soul, as on a clock, so that failures do not threaten ...

But if you are full of Vanity,
Like avarice, he did not want to share kindness,
Neither the Lion nor the Mascaron will protect you.
And will an angel want to pray for you?

The philosopher will say: "He ruined his own fate!"
Quoting a treatise on moral principles -
And the Astronomer puts you through a spyglass
He can no longer distinguish in the cosmic Gradchany ...

Look, the archangel himself
Stands up for us with a sword
And the Chronicler: “No, the result is not yet clear!” —
Closed my diary
"Not dead - not doomed ..."!
Only the Turk shakes his head: “I don’t agree!” ...

And now the cymbals are beating, the term of the Last Judgment
Not naming - but foreseeing in the whirlwind ...
Oh, city of paradox: the best is always here
It happens not before, but only after Death!..

Savostyanov Valery

Wreath of sonnets

Oh Prague, you are a sip of wine!
A hundred times repeated and sung
This name will not fade,
Like a sigh of a loved one, like a vow.

Take off your stone helmets
Sirens - away from the familiar look!
After all, it doesn't matter, even though we are dumb
, The siren of conscience is buzzing!

But if Prague collapses into dust,
And I'm alone on the shards
I will remain an inconsolable son,
I will swallow this dust.
Leave a seal on your soul
When the ruins devour you!

When the ruins devour you
And the winds will argue with the water
For the ashes of the beauty of the past,
For everything that fear leaves, having disappeared,

You will become a song on the wave
Drawing on a jet of air,
A letter for eternity to come
In my obscure depths.

And if I - stand at the edge,
And death hangs, measuring
Second by second time
I will not go beyond these walls,
Let hunger knock you down like the wind
And the roof will collapse on the threshold!

And the roof will collapse on the threshold,
And I - to wander among the mists
Around the Cathedral… No chestnuts
I still couldn't survive...

I know all your winds.
In the spring, lifting a dried leaf,
Violet - wet amethyst -
Open to any home...

You are a cloud: you are every moment
You are a fleeting face
Changeable like smoke, pictures ...
Stand at least on the vaults of the catacombs,
Stop if it rains bombs
And the blood will wash away the clods of clay.

And the blood will wash away the clods of clay -
It seemed to me when the armor
Thundered, the area tilted,
And the lanes near Tyn

They wheezed stifledly when
The guns roared in Letna,
And, protecting the tower, the branches
Broken, torn wires ...

But still the word of hope
And the cross against the backdrop of evil ashes
A look on your forehead will find
And the Vltava under your wall -
Oblique, lying on the neck ...
I will not leave your gates!

I won't leave your gates
How did those who fears come out,
Despair, or the phantom of the chopping block,
Or disbelief leads.

Thanks for the slice of bread
For a rusty knife, for the taste of trouble,
For a drop of that holy water
What from the sprinkler is like from the sky.

Here and a handkerchief random wave
It will give me more than someone's flag ...
Poems for sleepless nights
I read to four walls.
But even Time is a burden to us:
I will wait with the dead.

Until the grass grows
Blue, hastily sewn in the spring
Verse with instant stitches.

Friends are dead and my house is empty
But I can't leave them.
Tufts of grass on their graves
Tell more someone's mouth.

In me - their dreams, their pain and laughter ...
The dresses of those women have faded,
That somewhere danced with us.
But in the box suddenly - binoculars glare ...
Cloak on the corner ... Oh, I'm used to
Under the heat to wait and under the rain!

That Prague will emerge from the darkness,
And the wind laces winter
Others will replace lace.

April. And the sun is pouring down again
Milk reflection from a jug.
Take a branch of rosemary
Tell me where can I meet you?

When on old tower You're on
The clock will strike half
She will unbutton her glove...
Under this chipped arch
I'm waiting as shadows yearn for light
Like the one who waits at the gate.

Like the one who waits at the gate,
Patience subduing the torment,
Who in the outstretched hand
Only rain drops drop by drop, -

I am waiting. The wind will blow the cover.
Barely perceptible dawn
Shines in the window of the monastery,
Drown in the depths of the quarter ...

Sirens, isn't it spring?
And gray tones again?
Why did you open your umbrellas?
Or Prague is destined again
To give to someone?
Let death prophesy the owl again?

Let death again prophesy the owl,
And up the steps to the dark temple
We feel our way, but there
We have not extinguished the lamp.

And in these fateful days
We will become close unprecedentedly
Cold stone at the portal
And nails driven into the feet ...

But if the sky did not reach
Prayer of the one that is so bright
And the gaze would have drooped, deflated,
And yet God did not have mercy -
That means we are a thistle!
Let it go! The Lord's wrath is all-powerful!

And may the Lord's wrath be omnipotent,
Whenever He wanted to
So that the vultures claw our flesh,
To betray our city to a cloud of arrows -

Take them! Here is an arrow
In a cloak with a fearless pin
Shines while from a high tower
The bells didn't fall!

One thing I'm afraid to see:
Among the ruins are fragments of a dress.
Take this fear away from us!
After all, we could be saved from the battle
Your smile and prayers
One tear from those eyes!

One tear from those eyes
We will become a strong wall,
And again the tree is dry
Dissolve at the appointed hour!

The motive of unknown spring
It will spill on the cups of flowers,
And the color and smell will return to them,
And the sound of blissful silence ...

You, who brought life with you,
How, having stepped with a bare foot,
Did you break Satan's wings?
And those who are weak... Pray for them:
One tear from your eyelashes
The curse will wash away the weary from the roofs!

The curse will wash away the weary from the roofs
Spring Prague new noise,
And bombs won't come to mind
That my city once knew them...

Live not in drops! Take a deep breath!
With an innate sense of will!
To be is not for fear, not for pain,
Life, not death, enter into the result!

Sleeping on a sword is not the best dream.
But the unarmed is doomed
Don't sleep at all. And so it happened
What's in the safe silence
And I screamed in my sleep
And all that's left in my heart.

And all that is left in the heart
From those torn days when shame
He spoke about conscience like a thief,
Dirt dressed up in nobility,

When the light fell
And, dividing the prey, evil spirits,
Over the abyss suddenly became human,
I laughed that there was no homeland,

When people, pushing into each other,
One belt tied tightly
To load a triple load at a time, -
All that is then in the darkness of old
He repeated to the blind, deafened shutters,
I will save in song for you.

I will save in song for you
Her despair at night:
I wind, without a prompter howling,
He insisted that the lantern went out again ...

But - even into the fire, even into the darkness!
I, like a child, with her everywhere,
I won't forget this name
Like the name of a woman, like the one

What is so capricious and old
(In the hands of the moon, like a mandolin),
Like the one who knows the hour and the time
On guard, in stone peace,
Holding the chimes with your hand ...
Oh Prague, you are a sip of wine!

Oh Prague, you are a sip of wine!
When the ruins devour you
And the roof will collapse on the threshold,
And the blood will wash away the clods of clay -

I won't leave your gates
I will wait with the dead
Under the heat to wait and under the rains,
Like the one who waits at the gate.

Let death prophesy the owl again
And may the Lord's anger be omnipotent -
One tear from those eyes
The curse will wash away the weary from the roofs,
And all that's left in my heart
I will save in song for you.

Prague is a city full of paradoxes, always ready to surprise the most experienced travelers. Many unique objects are located far from the tourist route, and those who want to take a closer look at the Czech capital will discover a number of interesting facts and answers to the most unexpected questions.

Important and not important

It is well known that main temple Prague - Cathedral. Without diminishing its significance, it is worth noting that this is not the oldest Catholic religious building in the city. The Church of the Virgin Mary in Prague Castle is almost 500 years older than the current St. Vitus Cathedral, it was built at the end of the 9th century and is the oldest church in Prague. Even if we take the construction of a basilica that has not survived to this day, on the site of which the cathedral was later built, as the date of foundation of the Cathedral of St. Vitus, then that ancient church is still inferior in age to the Church of the Virgin Mary. The surviving parts of the church can be seen through the glass in the transition from the 2nd to the 4th part of the palace.

If the seniority of St. Vitus Cathedral is so easily disputed, then there is no doubt that it is at least the tallest church in Prague. Being an architectural dominant, he raised his Great Tower to a height of 96 meters above the city. Only a cathedral at the junction of the Old and New Places matches it, it is inferior to the main temple only a few meters in height of the vault. Ambitious architectural project had the goal of surpassing St. Vitus Cathedral in height, but the Hussite wars prevented the implementation of this audacious intention.

The longest square in the city. Its length is 682 meters. However, being main square, it is not the largest. It surpasses it in terms of quadrature (80,550 square meters).

Charles Square Charles Square

The main statue of Prague is located on Wenceslas Square. The sculpture of St. Wenceslas is by far the most significant, but not the largest. The largest equestrian statue in the city is located on top. The monumental figure of the hero of the Hussite wars, Jan Zizka, is nine meters high. Its length from the muzzle to the tip of the horse's tail is 9 meters and 60 centimeters.

Sculpture of St. Wenceslas Sculpture of St. Wenceslas Sculpture of Jan Zizka Sculpture of Jan Zizka

An integral part of the image of Prague has become its medieval towers. If you count only the main towers, then their total number will exceed 500. And if you add here non-main towers on residential buildings... However, no one has yet been able to indicate their exact number.

Residential and non-residential

Is it possible to wrap your hands around the facade of a residential building? Undoubtedly! But only in Prague. The smallest house in Prague is located at Anežská 1043/4. The width of its facade is only 2 meters and 25 centimeters. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, this miniature building housed a brothel. The second place in terms of compactness is occupied by the Clementine Hotel, the facade of which is 1 meter and 3 centimeters wider than the facade of the house on Anezskaya.

Most high building in the city - . This television station is by far the leader among the skyscrapers of Prague. The next tallest City Tower is more than a hundred meters behind the TV tower.

One of the legendary places in Prague is Café Slavia. It has always been a favorite place of the capital's bohemia, as well as visiting intellectuals. It is known that Marina Tsvetaeva liked to visit here. But Slavia is not only famous for this. This is the oldest cafe in the city. It first opened its doors to visitors in 1881.

Much more ancient history has a beer garden that has been serving customers since the late Middle Ages. It was built in 1499 and today is the oldest brewery in Prague. For this reason, it has gained immense popularity among tourists and has now become a tourist attraction, which you can visit only for show.

Another unique place Prague - . The hospital, founded in 1320, has not stopped its work for a single day since then. Initially, it was a monastery hospital with 14 beds. Over the centuries, the building was rebuilt, the upper floors were added to it. The scientific activity of the hospital also did not stand still - new medical departments appeared, it became a major medical center. Today, the oldest hospital in Prague is equipped with the most modern equipment and patients here receive qualified medical care.

Among the cultural-mass buildings of the city it is worth noting. This is the largest stadium in Prague, and its field is the largest in the world - 63,000 square meters. In its stands, the stadium can accommodate 220,000 spectators.

Going beyond statistical indicators, the inhabitants of Prague have identified the most successful contemporary architectural project. They recognized the building of the National technical library, built in 2009 on the territory of the Czech Polytechnic University. The title of major failure of modern architectural design in 2016 was given to the Crysral building in the Vinohrady district. According to the results of a survey among Prague residents, the name “Glass Hell” was assigned to it.

The deepest well in Prague, reaching the waters of the Vltava, was dug in the late Middle Ages on the territory. The water level in it reaches a record high of 46 meters, and the depth of the well itself is 70 meters.

The urban development of Prague is as contrasting as the area where the city is located. The most high point on his map - an unremarkable hill Telechek (district). Its top almost reaches four hundred meters above sea level. Also on the periphery is the lowest point - 177 meters above sea level. This is the lower course of the Vltava in the area of Suchdol.

Can be done in Prague a large number of time, or even live in it all your life, but it is impossible to know it thoroughly. She will always bring surprises, and give the most unexpected answers to questions - as long as you have the desire to ask them.
